0:01:04 > 0:01:06In the racing world,

0:01:06 > 0:01:08you would normally be mad to put money on a porker.

0:01:09 > 0:01:13However, if you were to hedge your bets on some certain hogs,

0:01:13 > 0:01:15you might well bring home the bacon

0:01:15 > 0:01:17and leave others a pork-scratching their heads.

0:01:17 > 0:01:19I'm talking about pig racing,

0:01:19 > 0:01:22and though they're not normally ones to sweat it on the job,

0:01:22 > 0:01:26there is one animal at work that is certainly hot to trot.

0:01:30 > 0:01:33Warwickshire, England.

0:02:28 > 0:02:31Marigold is the team's star runner.

0:02:31 > 0:02:36But like all top athletes, Marigold's career is all too short.

0:02:36 > 0:02:38At seven months old,

0:02:38 > 0:02:41her glory days are almost over, and retirement is looming.

0:02:45 > 0:02:48This is the last day of training before Marigold's final race,

0:02:48 > 0:02:52and she wants to go down in sporting history.

0:02:54 > 0:02:57Marigold, and the rest of Rebecca's team of talented porkers,

0:02:57 > 0:03:00get hired out as a star attraction at county fairs.

0:03:02 > 0:03:05The cash helps pay for the team's food and board.

0:03:10 > 0:03:13Whilst Marigold's track triumphs impress the spectators,

0:03:13 > 0:03:17it's her personality that's won over the hearts of the training team.

0:03:19 > 0:03:21I think Marigold is my friend, because...

0:03:21 > 0:03:25a pig - you normally think, "Oh, yeah a pig.

0:03:25 > 0:03:26"Phew."

0:03:26 > 0:03:29You know, they're really smelly and muddy creatures,

0:03:29 > 0:03:31but I don't think they are.

0:03:31 > 0:03:34If you get to know them really well,

0:03:34 > 0:03:38you can basically, um, go into their land

0:03:38 > 0:03:40and talk to them in your own way.

0:03:43 > 0:03:45She's big.

0:03:45 > 0:03:46She's...kind of bossy.

0:03:46 > 0:03:48She does sometimes pick on the others,

0:03:48 > 0:03:51particularly for food, when they're fighting for it.

0:03:51 > 0:03:54But on the whole, they're really very friendly together -

0:03:54 > 0:03:57they cuddle up together when they sleep at night.

0:03:57 > 0:03:58SNORING

0:03:58 > 0:04:01They're very nice, these pigs.

0:04:01 > 0:04:02They're all very nice.

0:04:03 > 0:04:06Expectations are riding high on Marigold.

0:04:06 > 0:04:11The next show we're going to be going to is the Royal Norfolk.

0:04:11 > 0:04:14It's a special show for these pigs - this will be their last show,

0:04:14 > 0:04:17and I'm pretty sure that Marigold

0:04:17 > 0:04:21will be putting in her best performance ever.

0:04:21 > 0:04:22It is Marigold's last race,

0:04:22 > 0:04:24and I am, actually, a bit sad,

0:04:24 > 0:04:26cos we've had them for a really long time,

0:04:26 > 0:04:29and you get to know them and their personalities

0:04:29 > 0:04:32and everything, and they're kind of your friends.

0:04:32 > 0:04:35Marigold's supporters are behind her all the way.

0:04:35 > 0:04:39They want her to finish her sporting career as a champion racing pig.

0:04:40 > 0:04:44I think Marigold is going to do very well.

0:04:46 > 0:04:50Later on, we'll find out how Marigold does in her last race.

0:04:50 > 0:04:53Will she live up to all the hype and bring home the bacon?

0:05:03 > 0:05:06Now we're off to meet a doggie artist in New York.

0:05:15 > 0:05:19This is Manhattan, home to famous artists such as Andy Warhol.

0:05:19 > 0:05:23Now there's a new face on the scene.

0:05:23 > 0:05:27Tillie. Jack Russell and abstract artist.

0:05:27 > 0:05:31By her side is her devoted assistant, Bowman.

0:05:31 > 0:05:35Tillie's first exhibition was in Williamsburg, Brooklyn,

0:05:35 > 0:05:36at Beethoven's studio.

0:05:36 > 0:05:39A friend of mine was opening a small gallery,

0:05:39 > 0:05:42and when he met Tillie and saw her work,

0:05:42 > 0:05:44he decided to make her his inaugural artist.

0:05:44 > 0:05:47She's been called the most successful animal painter

0:05:47 > 0:05:49by Art newspaper.

0:05:49 > 0:05:53Tillie has shown her work at more than 40 exhibitions.

0:05:54 > 0:05:57She has an exhibit this evening...

0:05:57 > 0:05:59Today, Bowman's drumming up business

0:05:59 > 0:06:01for her Dog Bless America premiere.

0:06:01 > 0:06:04How you doing? Tillie's got an opening tonight.

0:06:04 > 0:06:06- Fantastic. - It's in Manhattan.- Excellent.

0:06:06 > 0:06:07Hey.

0:06:08 > 0:06:12- We're having a little exhibition this evening...- Really?

0:06:12 > 0:06:13..if you want to stop by.

0:06:13 > 0:06:16It's on 42nd Street, and it's seven to nine tonight.

0:06:16 > 0:06:18- Can I bring everybody I know? - Please do.

0:06:18 > 0:06:22Tillie has been exhibiting her abstract art for nearly ten years.

0:06:22 > 0:06:26But what's the secret behind her success?

0:06:26 > 0:06:30Originally bred to hunt foxes, Jack Russells never give up,

0:06:30 > 0:06:32and Tillie's natural instinct to dig

0:06:32 > 0:06:35has been fine-tuned to create her artwork.

0:06:35 > 0:06:36BARKS

0:06:36 > 0:06:38Tillie is really the artist here.

0:06:38 > 0:06:41She's the one that's making all the marks.

0:06:41 > 0:06:44I'm basically her assistant. I set up the materials for her.

0:06:46 > 0:06:49So, this is the colour transfer paper that we use.

0:06:49 > 0:06:51It works like carbon paper.

0:06:51 > 0:06:54Any mark that's made on this side

0:06:54 > 0:06:56will transfer onto the surface below.

0:06:59 > 0:07:02Now I'm gonna fully tape down this transfer paper to the mat.

0:07:02 > 0:07:06You'll see that Tillie is really attracted to the tape.

0:07:08 > 0:07:10You'll know a piece is completed

0:07:10 > 0:07:12when it's on the verge of being destroyed.

0:07:12 > 0:07:15I basically have to hold her back with one hand

0:07:15 > 0:07:17and take the piece away with the other -

0:07:17 > 0:07:20she doesn't want to stop when she's working.

0:07:20 > 0:07:21# Take me on a trip

0:07:21 > 0:07:24# I'd like to go some day... #

0:07:24 > 0:07:25Ow, that one hurt, Tillie!

0:07:25 > 0:07:27# I'd love to see LA... #

0:07:27 > 0:07:29SHE BARKS

0:07:29 > 0:07:30# I really want to

0:07:30 > 0:07:31# come kick it with you

0:07:31 > 0:07:35# You'll be my American Boy. #

0:07:35 > 0:07:37Tillie, what do you think?

0:07:38 > 0:07:39SHE GRUNTS

0:07:43 > 0:07:45The art scene is a dog-eat-dog world,

0:07:45 > 0:07:47and tonight's exhibition is no exception.

0:07:50 > 0:07:53How many Tillie's do you own?

0:07:54 > 0:07:58We have a few, but my favourite is Blue Spaghetti.

0:07:58 > 0:08:01Tillie is unable to deceive her audience,

0:08:01 > 0:08:03which is what sets her apart from other artists.

0:08:03 > 0:08:07Tillie says heavy America,

0:08:07 > 0:08:08gentle America,

0:08:08 > 0:08:10and then starts biting it.

0:08:10 > 0:08:12SHE BARKS

0:08:12 > 0:08:14Yeah, that one sold.

0:08:14 > 0:08:16- How much did it sell for? - 100. Yeah.

0:08:16 > 0:08:20Tillie's giving a rare public demonstration

0:08:20 > 0:08:22of her unique creative style.

0:08:22 > 0:08:24She's running the show.

0:08:25 > 0:08:28And for anyone who doubts Tillie's talents...well...

0:08:28 > 0:08:29seeing is believing.

0:08:29 > 0:08:31SHE BARKS

0:08:31 > 0:08:33LAUGHTER

0:08:35 > 0:08:39She's only interested in interpreting the world as she finds it,

0:08:39 > 0:08:40which makes her very primal

0:08:40 > 0:08:43and a significant artist for this moment in time.

0:08:43 > 0:08:44OK, OK, OK.

0:08:44 > 0:08:45OK. OK.

0:08:45 > 0:08:47Good. Good.

0:08:47 > 0:08:48Good. Good.

0:08:48 > 0:08:49CHEERING

0:08:49 > 0:08:51SHE BARKS

0:08:51 > 0:08:54The exhibition is a huge success,

0:08:54 > 0:08:57and Tillie's scratched together hundreds of pounds in sale.

0:09:07 > 0:09:08We've been surfing the net

0:09:08 > 0:09:12to find out what your pets get up to on their days off.

0:09:12 > 0:09:14This is Slobber the boxer,

0:09:14 > 0:09:16from Wiltshire, in England.

0:09:16 > 0:09:20During the working week, he's your average stay-at-home pet.

0:09:20 > 0:09:24But don't let this angel face fool you.

0:09:24 > 0:09:27On the weekend, this boxer's a hairy biker.

0:09:27 > 0:09:28# Get your motor runnin'

0:09:30 > 0:09:32# Head out on the highway

0:09:33 > 0:09:35# Lookin' for adventure

0:09:36 > 0:09:39# And whatever comes our way

0:09:39 > 0:09:43# Like a true nature's child

0:09:43 > 0:09:44# We were born

0:09:44 > 0:09:46# Born to be wild

0:09:46 > 0:09:48# We can climb so high

0:09:48 > 0:09:52# I never wanna die... #

0:09:52 > 0:09:56For Slobber, it's a perfect end to another biker weekend.

0:10:03 > 0:10:06Time for racing pigs in Warwickshire, England.

0:10:08 > 0:10:12Tomorrow, this top team of pigs will race at the Royal Norfolk Show.

0:10:12 > 0:10:14For their star runner, Marigold,

0:10:14 > 0:10:19it's the final race of her dazzling sporting career.

0:10:19 > 0:10:22These pigs are trained for racing.

0:10:22 > 0:10:25They only race against themselves

0:10:25 > 0:10:28and they go down a straight course with little jumps in them.

0:10:30 > 0:10:34It is Marigold's last race, and I am, actually, a bit sad.

0:10:36 > 0:10:38Today, Marigold's manager, Rebecca,

0:10:38 > 0:10:42wants to squeeze in one last fitness session before the big day.

0:10:42 > 0:10:44PIGS SNORT

0:10:44 > 0:10:47It's really important that the pigs are fit for this,

0:10:47 > 0:10:50so we've been building up a training program for them -

0:10:50 > 0:10:54while doing the training, we're increasing the height of the jumps.

0:10:54 > 0:10:57Pigs can jump up to 80 centimetres high.

0:10:59 > 0:11:01I'm not saying that these pigs can or will.

0:11:01 > 0:11:04PIGS SNORT

0:11:04 > 0:11:05They can do.

0:11:05 > 0:11:07HE OINKS

0:11:07 > 0:11:09But their real motivation to run?

0:11:09 > 0:11:12A nice big bucket of food at the winning post.

0:11:12 > 0:11:15Despite the fact that they've got quite short legs,

0:11:15 > 0:11:17they are actually very speedy

0:11:17 > 0:11:20and they can do a 50-metre track in about 30 seconds,

0:11:20 > 0:11:24which is amazing, really, when you look at them.

0:11:24 > 0:11:26Great thing about pigs is how intelligent they are.

0:11:26 > 0:11:29I think they're more intelligent than dogs, myself.

0:11:29 > 0:11:31They're very easy to train,

0:11:31 > 0:11:34because they, very quickly, learn what you want -

0:11:34 > 0:11:36then they'll do it again and again,

0:11:36 > 0:11:38as long as they get their reward, which is food.

0:11:38 > 0:11:41Hey, stop fighting. There you go.

0:11:41 > 0:11:42It's fun to race them,

0:11:42 > 0:11:45cos you never ever know what's gonna happen next.

0:11:45 > 0:11:51What I do like is...racing... racing behind the pigs.

0:11:51 > 0:11:53Go on, pigs! Go on!

0:11:53 > 0:11:55It's a big race tomorrow,

0:11:55 > 0:11:57but what do the pit team think of Marigold's chances?

0:11:59 > 0:12:03I don't know if Marigold's gonna win, but I hope...I hope she does.

0:12:03 > 0:12:05So, Marigold's not a safe bet yet.

0:12:05 > 0:12:10She's got to work on speed and agility to get over those hurdles.

0:12:10 > 0:12:13These are the jumps we use in the real race.

0:12:13 > 0:12:14We put them in the practice,

0:12:14 > 0:12:18so the pigs know what they've got to do when it comes to the real things.

0:12:18 > 0:12:20# I predict a riot

0:12:20 > 0:12:21# I predict a riot... #

0:12:23 > 0:12:26Not only are these practice runs crucial

0:12:26 > 0:12:29to get Marigold in peak physical condition,

0:12:29 > 0:12:33they also give her the opportunity to sniff out the competition.

0:12:38 > 0:12:40Look at that!

0:12:40 > 0:12:43Marigold, you're pipped to the post by Francis Bacon.

0:12:43 > 0:12:47Oh, dear. Marigold's lead was snatched away too easily.

0:12:47 > 0:12:50The dash for top trotter is on.

0:12:50 > 0:12:52Marigold was third, unfortunately,

0:12:52 > 0:12:55so I think she needs a bit of encouragement, myself.

0:12:55 > 0:12:58She got pipped to the post by Red Ham and Francis Bacon. Never mind.

0:12:58 > 0:13:01This is only a practice. It's the real thing that counts.

0:13:01 > 0:13:04Good, old-fashioned, mad pig racing.

0:13:06 > 0:13:07Tomorrow is the big race,

0:13:07 > 0:13:10but will Marigold end her career on a high?

0:13:10 > 0:13:12On today's poor performance,

0:13:12 > 0:13:14it's shaping up to be a right old pig's ear.

0:13:17 > 0:13:19ELEPHANT TRUMPETS

0:13:20 > 0:13:23Some animals at work are furry, feathery and cute,

0:13:23 > 0:13:26but get ready to come face-to-face with one

0:13:26 > 0:13:29that's big enough to send shivers down your spine.

0:13:29 > 0:13:31I'm not afraid of slithering creatures,

0:13:31 > 0:13:33but some people are terrified,

0:13:33 > 0:13:36and our next animal helps cure that phobia.

0:13:37 > 0:13:40Hi, mate. He's got a big tongue.

0:13:43 > 0:13:46Our stop now is at the Paradise Wildlife Park,

0:13:46 > 0:13:48in Hertfordshire, England.

0:13:59 > 0:14:03And it's here that one large lady is facing her first day on the job,

0:14:03 > 0:14:07curing people from being scared of snakes.

0:14:07 > 0:14:10She's a snake therapist.

0:14:10 > 0:14:15Big Girl's boss, Steve, thinks she's perfect for the position.

0:14:17 > 0:14:20This is Big Girl, and she's an absolutely beautiful Burmese python.

0:14:20 > 0:14:22I named her Big Girl,

0:14:22 > 0:14:24because it seemed to suit her character

0:14:24 > 0:14:26and her personality, really.

0:14:26 > 0:14:28# Big girls, you are beautiful... #

0:14:31 > 0:14:33She's too shy. She's confident.

0:14:33 > 0:14:36You wouldn't want to annoy her, obviously, she's a large snake.

0:14:38 > 0:14:42# Big girls, you are beautiful. #

0:14:42 > 0:14:46Big Girl has a ssss-sensitive healing job ahead.

0:14:46 > 0:14:48When she first arrived at the park,

0:14:48 > 0:14:51she was in need of a bit of therapy herself.

0:14:52 > 0:14:54Big Girl's one of our rescue snakes.

0:14:54 > 0:14:57When she first arrived, she was very nervous. I'd approach her -

0:14:57 > 0:15:00she'd open her mouth, hiss at me, show a lot of aggression.

0:15:00 > 0:15:03On one occasion, she did actually bite me.

0:15:03 > 0:15:07They've got about 120, quite sharp, teeth, and she did draw blood.

0:15:08 > 0:15:11She actually probably weighs, at the moment,

0:15:11 > 0:15:13about seven stone - just under that.

0:15:15 > 0:15:19A wild Burmese python could eat something the size of a small deer.

0:15:19 > 0:15:22She'd need to have a lot of strength to actually hold onto it,

0:15:22 > 0:15:24to squeeze it until she could eat it -

0:15:24 > 0:15:25there's a lot of muscle tone.

0:15:25 > 0:15:29Big Girl's important, because she's helping people understand

0:15:29 > 0:15:31that snakes aren't horrible or disgusting animals.

0:15:31 > 0:15:33They're quite amazing.

0:15:33 > 0:15:37Big Girl has been transformed through her own therapy,

0:15:37 > 0:15:40and is now a gentle giant, ready to help others.

0:15:40 > 0:15:44But will she be able to soothe today's seriously stressed patients?

0:15:45 > 0:15:48Today's a very big day for Big Girl,

0:15:48 > 0:15:49and for me too,

0:15:49 > 0:15:52because she's gonna try her first trial at being a snake therapist,

0:15:52 > 0:15:55and there's a group of young girls, from a nearby school,

0:15:55 > 0:15:57who are terrified of snakes.

0:15:57 > 0:15:58And they are...

0:15:58 > 0:16:00Georgie, Bronwyn, Kate,

0:16:00 > 0:16:01Lily and Lucy.

0:16:01 > 0:16:02THEY GIGGLE

0:16:02 > 0:16:05So, I'm hoping Big Girl's gonna stay like she is now,

0:16:05 > 0:16:07nice and calm and relaxed,

0:16:07 > 0:16:10and, hopefully, cure them of their phobia.

0:16:10 > 0:16:13I think she's the perfect snake for the job, to be honest,

0:16:13 > 0:16:15because of her great temperament,

0:16:15 > 0:16:18and she's striking in pattern, and beautiful.

0:16:22 > 0:16:24Are you scared?

0:16:24 > 0:16:27I'd hate to stroke it, because...

0:16:28 > 0:16:30..it would feel like it'll kill me.

0:16:30 > 0:16:32I bet when we see it, we'll be like,

0:16:32 > 0:16:34"Big Girl" is an understatement. Huge Girl!

0:16:34 > 0:16:36DRAMATIC MUSIC

0:16:43 > 0:16:44Hi, girls. You all right?

0:16:44 > 0:16:46ALL SCREAM AND GIGGLE

0:16:46 > 0:16:48Hysteria sets in!

0:16:48 > 0:16:51But Big Girl takes it all in her stride.

0:16:51 > 0:16:53GIRLS WHIMPER

0:16:54 > 0:16:57Luckily, Big Girl's deaf, so she can't hear you screaming.

0:16:57 > 0:16:59She's flicking her tongue out to taste the air,

0:16:59 > 0:17:03cos she can't see well. Her eyes only see a bit of movement.

0:17:03 > 0:17:05So, what she's doing - she's tasting you right now.

0:17:05 > 0:17:08- She's a constrictive snake. Do you know what that means?- No.

0:17:08 > 0:17:11- She'll wrap you up and strangle you. - Sort of.

0:17:11 > 0:17:12When she finds dinner in the wild -

0:17:12 > 0:17:14she might have a nice Asian deer -

0:17:14 > 0:17:16she'll bite and constrict it -

0:17:16 > 0:17:19she'll only do that because she knows she can eat it.

0:17:19 > 0:17:20So, she's gonna eat us?

0:17:20 > 0:17:23She's not gonna eat you at all. No, no. You're far too big to eat.

0:17:23 > 0:17:27A lot of the time, snakes are more scared of people,

0:17:27 > 0:17:29than people are of them, to be honest.

0:17:29 > 0:17:31Well, that's easy for Steve to say.

0:17:33 > 0:17:37Burmese pythons are amongst the largest snakes on earth,

0:17:37 > 0:17:39and can reach a whopping 23 feet -

0:17:39 > 0:17:42that's about one-and-a-half family cars.

0:17:42 > 0:17:45And they weigh in at 200 pounds -

0:17:45 > 0:17:47about the same as a Saint Bernard dog.

0:17:55 > 0:17:59Lily is the first to approach the gentle giant.

0:18:02 > 0:18:05Gently. Can you feel how smooth she is?

0:18:07 > 0:18:08THEY GIGGLE

0:18:08 > 0:18:10And the other girls aren't far behind.

0:18:11 > 0:18:12That's it, stroke down.

0:18:12 > 0:18:16You can put your whole hand on if you want, and just stroke.

0:18:16 > 0:18:19- You can feel the muscles inside. You can feel how strong she is.- Yup.

0:18:19 > 0:18:22Just because she's so big,

0:18:22 > 0:18:25it's really scary just touching her, cos she's just so big.

0:18:25 > 0:18:27- She's not gonna hurt you.- No.

0:18:27 > 0:18:30- She's just a big gentle giant if you think about it.- Yeah. Yeah.

0:18:30 > 0:18:33After just one hour with Big Girl,

0:18:33 > 0:18:36Georgia, Bronwyn, Kate, Lily and Lucy

0:18:36 > 0:18:38have overcome their fear of snakes.

0:18:38 > 0:18:41But do they feel confident enough to hold her?

0:18:41 > 0:18:43So, are you girls ready to help me hold her now?

0:18:43 > 0:18:45OMINOUS HISSING

0:18:49 > 0:18:50ALL: Yeah, we will.

0:18:54 > 0:18:55Do you think Big Girl's doing well?

0:18:55 > 0:18:57You think she's good at her job,

0:18:57 > 0:19:00helping people get over their fear of snakes?

0:19:00 > 0:19:03It was brilliant. I just really want to take it home.

0:19:03 > 0:19:06Yeah, I love it! I just...

0:19:06 > 0:19:08I'm not scared of snakes any more -

0:19:08 > 0:19:10she's helped me realise they're not scary.

0:19:10 > 0:19:12- Good. She's done her job well?- Yeah.

0:19:18 > 0:19:22Looks like Big Girl's hit the jackpot in her new career.

0:19:22 > 0:19:23She's a natural.

0:19:32 > 0:19:34We've been looking out for your home videos

0:19:34 > 0:19:36of what animals get up to in their spare time,

0:19:36 > 0:19:38and we loved this one

0:19:38 > 0:19:40of some incredible tree-climbing goats in Morocco.

0:19:40 > 0:19:43How many goats can you get up a tree?

0:19:43 > 0:19:44# Help me get down

0:19:44 > 0:19:46# I can make it

0:19:46 > 0:19:47# Help me get down

0:19:47 > 0:19:49# Help me get down

0:19:49 > 0:19:50# I can make it

0:19:50 > 0:19:51# Help me get down

0:19:51 > 0:19:55# If I only knew the answer

0:19:55 > 0:19:58# And if all our days are numbered

0:19:58 > 0:20:02# Then, why do I keep counting? #

0:20:02 > 0:20:06Wow! So 13 goats down, and three more still hanging in there.

0:20:06 > 0:20:07That's fa-a-a-abbbb!

0:20:12 > 0:20:15Now we're heading to Pennsylvania, in America.

0:20:23 > 0:20:25This is Duncan, the border collie.

0:20:25 > 0:20:28He's going through a major career change.

0:20:28 > 0:20:31Duncan and his trainer, Jan, are an award-winning team.

0:20:31 > 0:20:35Duncan has won tons of trophies in obedience competitions.

0:20:39 > 0:20:42But an accident during training changed everything.

0:20:42 > 0:20:46When he went down, and he didn't get back up again...

0:20:46 > 0:20:50Duncan had a blood clot in his spinal cord,

0:20:50 > 0:20:54and his nerves were damaged, meaning his legs were paralysed.

0:20:54 > 0:20:58It was a long struggle...

0:20:58 > 0:21:01because we basically had to teach him how to walk again.

0:21:01 > 0:21:04He really tried, and he really worked his little heart out for us

0:21:04 > 0:21:07when it came to doing physical therapy,

0:21:07 > 0:21:09and the work that we had to do with him.

0:21:09 > 0:21:10He was real determined,

0:21:10 > 0:21:13and he would do anything in the world to please me.

0:21:13 > 0:21:16Duncan was a born performer,

0:21:16 > 0:21:21and Jan needed to find something to get him back on his feet.

0:21:21 > 0:21:23Now, he's a dancer.

0:21:23 > 0:21:27Duncan loves music, and has from the time he was little.

0:21:27 > 0:21:30We do show tunes, we do things like...

0:21:30 > 0:21:33the very first song we ever performed to

0:21:33 > 0:21:36was the overture from Phantom Of The Opera.

0:21:41 > 0:21:44Let's go. Come on, weave. Good boy.

0:21:44 > 0:21:46Weave. Good.

0:21:46 > 0:21:48That's the foot I want.

0:21:48 > 0:21:52His feet have two different names to them. This is Kick.

0:21:52 > 0:21:53This is Kick...

0:21:53 > 0:21:55SHE LAUGHS

0:21:55 > 0:21:56and this is Foot.

0:21:56 > 0:21:58Once he learned that,

0:21:58 > 0:22:01then I was able to just transfer him to different parts of my body.

0:22:01 > 0:22:04He'll do it from my knees. Duncan, kick. Kick.

0:22:05 > 0:22:07Foot. Good.

0:22:07 > 0:22:11It's to my left, and it's haw for him. Duncan haw.

0:22:11 > 0:22:12Haw, haw,

0:22:12 > 0:22:14haw...good.

0:22:14 > 0:22:17Now, the gee came a lot harder,

0:22:17 > 0:22:20because it's going into the nerve damage leg.

0:22:20 > 0:22:21Gee, gee,

0:22:21 > 0:22:23gee, gee, gee...

0:22:23 > 0:22:26And if you watch him, he'll bunny hop, kinda,

0:22:26 > 0:22:30he kind of, hops his back end, rather than trying to do it across his feet.

0:22:30 > 0:22:33Today, Duncan's being primped up for a dance display

0:22:33 > 0:22:35in front of a crowd of thousands.

0:22:35 > 0:22:39That's a pitiful face... if I ever saw one.

0:22:42 > 0:22:46Pittsburgh's Highland Games have been around for almost 50 years,

0:22:46 > 0:22:48and it's the event of the season.

0:22:55 > 0:22:58Our first routine today,

0:22:58 > 0:23:02is going to be a solo by Jan Myer of Greenford, and her dog Duncan.

0:23:02 > 0:23:06You just can't take the competitive spirit out of this dog.

0:23:06 > 0:23:10When you go on the floor, it's just you and the dog...

0:23:10 > 0:23:13and it's made our bond a lot tighter.

0:23:13 > 0:23:14APPLAUSE

0:23:14 > 0:23:16With lots of trophies under his belt,

0:23:16 > 0:23:19Duncan's going to be as successful at dance,

0:23:19 > 0:23:20as he was as an obedience dog.

0:23:28 > 0:23:31Now it's back to England, and Marigold's big race.

0:23:36 > 0:23:39This is the Royal Norfolk Show.

0:23:39 > 0:23:41For Marigold, the track star,

0:23:41 > 0:23:44it's the final race day of her glittering career.

0:23:46 > 0:23:49- Daisy, are you gonna help me get the pigs out?- Yeah.

0:23:49 > 0:23:51All right, piggies.

0:23:51 > 0:23:54Oooh, piggy, piggy, piggies.

0:23:54 > 0:23:56I think the pigs, they're quite excited,

0:23:56 > 0:24:00because whenever they go to a show, they just...like it, basically.

0:24:00 > 0:24:02The pigs, of course... their last show.

0:24:02 > 0:24:03Marigold...

0:24:03 > 0:24:06she's...gunning for winning, of course, as ever.

0:24:06 > 0:24:08THEY OINK

0:24:08 > 0:24:10Maybe she won't win, I don't know.

0:24:12 > 0:24:17Marigold's bid to add another win to her name is under threat.

0:24:17 > 0:24:19Rivals Red Ham and Francis Bacon will run,

0:24:19 > 0:24:23and they thrashed her in the practice session yesterday.

0:24:23 > 0:24:24She's filthy!

0:24:29 > 0:24:32While Marigold gets ready for her big moment,

0:24:32 > 0:24:36a royal visitor wanders through the showground.

0:24:36 > 0:24:41Will this mean even more pressure on our would-be piggy racing champion?

0:24:41 > 0:24:42Look at Marigold.

0:24:42 > 0:24:47She's taking that pre-race nap that every good pig needs.

0:24:47 > 0:24:50She obviously knows what's best - a bit of a rest is the best thing

0:24:50 > 0:24:52if you're gonna be the winner.

0:24:52 > 0:24:53SNORING

0:24:53 > 0:24:57Basically, if they don't eat, right, before a race,

0:24:57 > 0:25:01it means they're faster, and they're more energetic to get food.

0:25:01 > 0:25:03They are greedy.

0:25:03 > 0:25:07That's the only thing about them that's, like, all the same.

0:25:07 > 0:25:09They're very greedy.

0:25:11 > 0:25:13It's almost race time,

0:25:13 > 0:25:15but Marigold is still snoring away.

0:25:16 > 0:25:20Will she get her act together in time to hog the limelight?

0:25:25 > 0:25:27The championship is three races,

0:25:27 > 0:25:31and Marigold needs to win two of them to claim pole piggy position.

0:25:33 > 0:25:35Three, two, one.

0:25:35 > 0:25:36And they're off!

0:25:36 > 0:25:39Marigold's taking the outside lane!

0:25:39 > 0:25:42She's easily clearing those fences!

0:25:42 > 0:25:45Marigold's ahead by half a snout!

0:25:45 > 0:25:47Marigold!

0:25:47 > 0:25:48Marigold has won her first race.

0:25:48 > 0:25:51But she's got to win at least one more,

0:25:51 > 0:25:54if she's to retire as the undefeated champion.

0:25:58 > 0:26:00Three, two, one, go!

0:26:00 > 0:26:01And they're off!

0:26:01 > 0:26:06Red Ham's first out of the stalls. Marigold's putting in a late burst.

0:26:06 > 0:26:08No!

0:26:08 > 0:26:10Marigold loses to Red Ham.

0:26:10 > 0:26:11Red Ham!

0:26:11 > 0:26:13CHEERING AND WHISTLING

0:26:15 > 0:26:18Marigold has got to win the third and last race,

0:26:18 > 0:26:22if she's to trot off home with the championship.

0:26:22 > 0:26:27Everyone enjoys pig racing because, you know, it's new, it's unique,

0:26:27 > 0:26:30and you never ever know what's gonna happen next.

0:26:30 > 0:26:31Three, two...

0:26:31 > 0:26:33Everything to play for in the last race -

0:26:33 > 0:26:35Marigold is leading the pack.

0:26:35 > 0:26:38Great jumping from Marigold puts her two lengths ahead.

0:26:38 > 0:26:39She is...

0:26:39 > 0:26:40the winner!

0:26:40 > 0:26:44Go-o-o-o-old!

0:26:44 > 0:26:46Three cheers for Marigold!

0:26:46 > 0:26:49CHEERING AND APPLAUSE

0:26:52 > 0:26:54I'm really happy.

0:26:54 > 0:26:56Marigold takes home the gold,

0:26:56 > 0:26:59and can settle into her retirement knowing that, in pig racing,

0:26:59 > 0:27:01she's a legend.

0:27:06 > 0:27:10I've found myself a friend to try out some of my new material.

0:27:10 > 0:27:12I've got some crackling good jokes for ya.

0:27:12 > 0:27:14- HE SNIGGERS - Crackling good jokes.

0:27:14 > 0:27:18All right, what do you call a pig that knows how to do karate?

0:27:18 > 0:27:19A pork chop!

0:27:19 > 0:27:20HE LAUGHS

0:27:20 > 0:27:21PIG SQUEALS

0:27:21 > 0:27:24What do you mean that was insensitive?

0:27:24 > 0:27:25Here, what about this one?

0:27:25 > 0:27:29- What do you call a pig after you push him down a hill? - PIG GRUNTS

0:27:29 > 0:27:30A bacon roll!

0:27:30 > 0:27:31BOOING
