0:00:02 > 0:00:06This is Animals At Work, the show that brings you...animals at work!
0:00:06 > 0:00:10Around the world, there are millions of animals that have jobs.
0:00:10 > 0:00:13When we say we've got animals at work, we're not kidding!
0:00:13 > 0:00:17This is the show that brings you the most extraordinary,
0:00:17 > 0:00:22bizarre and unusual animals at work.
0:00:22 > 0:00:24Coming up...
0:00:24 > 0:00:27We've got a spoilt pig that just won't work.
0:00:27 > 0:00:33If she doesn't want to do something, you're not gonna get her to do anything.
0:00:33 > 0:00:38This sensitive sniffer stops an emergency at the fire station.
0:00:38 > 0:00:41We didn't realise there were so many termites.
0:00:41 > 0:00:44Plus, see a lady getting otter under the collar!
0:00:46 > 0:00:49All this and more on Animals At Work.
0:01:05 > 0:01:07Hi, and welcome to the show.
0:01:07 > 0:01:09OK, so, if I said that there was an animal
0:01:09 > 0:01:13working as a landscape gardener, what would you say?
0:01:13 > 0:01:16Pigs might fly, huh? Get it? Pigs?
0:01:16 > 0:01:20Actually, there is a pig that will happily chop your grass.
0:01:20 > 0:01:23You could say she's a loin-mower!
0:01:23 > 0:01:26Loin-mower!
0:01:26 > 0:01:28Anyway, it's time to go snout and about with
0:01:28 > 0:01:35Animals At Work to meet one Tamworth who's not to be taken for grunted.
0:01:35 > 0:01:38That's right. Grunt away, baby.
0:01:41 > 0:01:43First, we're flying to Canada
0:01:43 > 0:01:46to meet some horticultural hogs.
0:01:53 > 0:01:57In Nova Scotia, Canada, Bob, Jane and Matt manage the land.
0:01:59 > 0:02:04And their farmhands? Well, they're just filthy pigs.
0:02:12 > 0:02:17From dusk till dawn, these Tamworth porkers plough the fields using only their skilful snouts.
0:02:19 > 0:02:23This is one of the fields that has already been worked on
0:02:23 > 0:02:24by our gardening pigs.
0:02:24 > 0:02:27Not quite finished, but it's getting there.
0:02:27 > 0:02:31And this is the field that the pigs have worked on last summer.
0:02:31 > 0:02:34You can see what a wonderful job they've done here.
0:02:34 > 0:02:39Pigs root and eat the dirt because it gives them vital vitamins and minerals.
0:02:39 > 0:02:43They also eat the grubs, insects and worms that they find as they forage.
0:02:43 > 0:02:48It's a natural instinct...for most pigs.
0:02:50 > 0:02:55Meet Miss Kitty. It seems she wants to keep her nose clean.
0:03:05 > 0:03:08This is Miss Kitty's first day on the job.
0:03:08 > 0:03:11- It turns out this trotter doesn't want to work.- Kitty?
0:03:11 > 0:03:13Come on.
0:03:13 > 0:03:15Wakey.
0:03:15 > 0:03:18Wakey wakey.
0:03:18 > 0:03:21Come on. There we go.
0:03:21 > 0:03:24This is Miss Kitty, and she's a Tamworth pig.
0:03:24 > 0:03:26She's about nine months old.
0:03:26 > 0:03:33She may be young, but her refusal to even try her new duties is leaving her employers somewhat frustrated.
0:03:33 > 0:03:37Miss Kitty is stubborn.
0:03:37 > 0:03:43When she wants to do something, she does it her way and her way only.
0:03:43 > 0:03:46And if she doesn't want to do something,
0:03:46 > 0:03:49you're not gonna get her to do anything.
0:03:51 > 0:03:54She definitely lets us know when she's unhappy.
0:03:54 > 0:03:59She communicates through making noises. Little grunts. Or big grunts.
0:04:11 > 0:04:13You have to dig the ground.
0:04:15 > 0:04:17Miss Kitty should make a great gardener.
0:04:17 > 0:04:20It's been in her family for generations.
0:04:20 > 0:04:22This is Morris.
0:04:22 > 0:04:26Morris is Kitty's dad, and he's probably about three years old now.
0:04:26 > 0:04:29This is Heather. This is Kitty's mum.
0:04:29 > 0:04:32She weighs around 350lbs.
0:04:34 > 0:04:36Come on.
0:04:36 > 0:04:42Her piggy parents are a little upset that Kitty stubbornly refuses to join the family firm.
0:04:45 > 0:04:50After her first morning on the job, this spoilt pig, for some reason, still isn't cutting it.
0:04:50 > 0:04:52Kitty!
0:04:52 > 0:04:53This way.
0:04:53 > 0:04:57Uh-oh. Heather's not happy.
0:04:57 > 0:05:03At this rate, Miss Kitty could be in danger of being disowned.
0:05:03 > 0:05:07Even a demonstration from Jane won't make the earth move.
0:05:12 > 0:05:13Coming up...
0:05:13 > 0:05:17Could the lack of work ethic just be a case of mistaken identity?
0:05:17 > 0:05:24We learn that Miss Piggy is one spoilt pig...who has been treated like a lapdog.
0:05:24 > 0:05:27See, that's how it's done.
0:05:30 > 0:05:34Next, we follow our noses to America, and feel the heat in Florida.
0:05:42 > 0:05:45Ah, Florida, the Sunshine State.
0:05:47 > 0:05:51And also...the termite capital of the world.
0:05:51 > 0:05:55These tiny termites cause massive damage by munching their way through buildings.
0:05:55 > 0:06:00They reduce properties to mere shells and cost billions.
0:06:00 > 0:06:05Feeding on wood, these insects will literally eat you out of house and home.
0:06:05 > 0:06:09And in parts of Florida, one in five houses are always at risk,
0:06:09 > 0:06:14and by the time signs are visible to the human eye, it's often too late.
0:06:17 > 0:06:21Step forward, intrepid termite hunter Tracker.
0:06:23 > 0:06:28He works for this pest control company and gets an average of 30 phone calls every week.
0:06:28 > 0:06:31This beagle's nose is busy.
0:06:31 > 0:06:33In Florida, there's two types of homes.
0:06:33 > 0:06:37There's those that have termites and those that will have termites.
0:06:39 > 0:06:42Tracker hasn't always been an ace pet detective.
0:06:42 > 0:06:45As a puppy, he was just difficult.
0:06:45 > 0:06:47He was a bad dog. He was a troublemaker.
0:06:47 > 0:06:51He was a typical beagle. He liked to run away, he barked a lot.
0:06:51 > 0:06:54He dug holes. We had to go through some obedience, but he had
0:06:54 > 0:06:57a strong desire to please, and that's what's important.
0:06:59 > 0:07:02Bill spotted a puppy with potential...
0:07:04 > 0:07:08..and turned this boisterous beagle into a professional termite tracker.
0:07:10 > 0:07:12Good seek. Good boy.
0:07:12 > 0:07:16We build walls and we hide the termites in there.
0:07:16 > 0:07:21And when we hide them, we have about 10 or 15 termites in there.
0:07:23 > 0:07:28We know in a home that you're gonna have 10-20,000 termites in your
0:07:28 > 0:07:31walls, so it's much easier actually in the real world than training.
0:07:32 > 0:07:37With a nose a million times more sensitive than a human's...
0:07:37 > 0:07:40Show me, show me, show me.
0:07:40 > 0:07:44..Tracker is now a much-sought-after insect investigator.
0:07:44 > 0:07:47And today's task is a real emergency.
0:07:51 > 0:07:54Termites have targeted this fire department.
0:07:54 > 0:08:00Tracker must detect these beastly bugs before they scoff the station house.
0:08:00 > 0:08:03As a fireman, we're on call 24 hours.
0:08:03 > 0:08:07Living here in the station, we didn't realise there were so many termites.
0:08:07 > 0:08:10Tracker comes along and may alert in an area that we
0:08:10 > 0:08:15haven't seen damage yet, but they're already in the walls, eating wood.
0:08:15 > 0:08:21Tracker's super-sensitive sniffer can smell termites in the ceiling from the bottom of the wall.
0:08:24 > 0:08:27And whenever he gets a whiff of the unwanted pests, Tracker will
0:08:27 > 0:08:31indicate to Sharon by, well, sitting down on the job.
0:08:31 > 0:08:34Seek. Seek. Tracker show me.
0:08:34 > 0:08:37Show me. Good boy! Good boy!
0:08:37 > 0:08:42That means termites. But, more importantly for Tracker, a tasty treat.
0:08:42 > 0:08:43Seek. Seek.
0:08:45 > 0:08:47Show me. Show me.
0:08:47 > 0:08:49Good boy, Tracker man! Good boy!
0:08:49 > 0:08:51Seek. All right, show me.
0:08:51 > 0:08:53Show me. Show me.
0:08:53 > 0:08:55Good boy, Tracker. Good boy.
0:08:58 > 0:09:03And here's an extreme close-up of the creepy culprits that threatened to eat the fire station.
0:09:06 > 0:09:10Seeing Tracker the dog come in and find the termites in the wall, it was really amazing.
0:09:10 > 0:09:14As you see now, they're tending the station
0:09:14 > 0:09:16to get rid of the problem.
0:09:16 > 0:09:20Disaster at the department avoided, thanks to one clever dog.
0:09:20 > 0:09:23Now that the pest control people know where the termites are hiding,
0:09:23 > 0:09:25they can stop them in their tracks.
0:09:25 > 0:09:27Well done, Tracker.
0:09:27 > 0:09:29A great day's termite tracking.
0:09:34 > 0:09:39We've been surfing the world wild web and checking out what some
0:09:39 > 0:09:42crazy critters get up to in their spare time.
0:09:42 > 0:09:45And look at Snowball. This is one funky chicken.
0:09:45 > 0:09:48Well...cockatiel.
0:09:58 > 0:10:02That's one bird that sure can boogie.
0:10:06 > 0:10:09And now, it's back to Nova Scotia.
0:10:12 > 0:10:14Let's go!
0:10:19 > 0:10:21Come on. Wakey.
0:10:21 > 0:10:27This is Miss Kitty, a sluggish sow that would rather sleep than do her gardening work.
0:10:27 > 0:10:30These pedigree porkers naturally root in the ground.
0:10:30 > 0:10:35And these tiny trotters have learnt how to use their snouts as shovels.
0:10:35 > 0:10:39But it would seem a life digging in the dirt is not for Miss Kitty.
0:10:41 > 0:10:43There could be a reason for that.
0:10:43 > 0:10:47You see, she's not had a typical Tamworth upbringing.
0:10:47 > 0:10:51She was attacked by a bobcat when she was just a couple of weeks old.
0:10:51 > 0:10:58I didn't think she was actually alive at first, but then her little feet started moving.
0:10:58 > 0:11:01She had to go through six operations.
0:11:01 > 0:11:07As you can see, she has one funny, floppy ear and that's where the cat had grabbed.
0:11:07 > 0:11:10I brought her in the house and we nursed her back to health.
0:11:10 > 0:11:15We have quite a few dogs in the house too, and she became part of our family.
0:11:15 > 0:11:17A-ha!
0:11:17 > 0:11:19This pig is part of the family.
0:11:19 > 0:11:23No wonder, then, that this little porker won't plough.
0:11:23 > 0:11:28The hog now thinks she's a dog, and all because her owners have brought her up like a puppy.
0:11:28 > 0:11:32When I was training Miss Kitty and doing obedience, she would pick up
0:11:32 > 0:11:35things a lot faster than some dogs do.
0:11:36 > 0:11:39Good girl.
0:11:39 > 0:11:40# Now I wanna be your dog
0:11:40 > 0:11:45# Now I wanna be your dog
0:11:45 > 0:11:48# Now I wanna be your dog. #
0:11:48 > 0:11:50And she does a lovely heel-on-leash.
0:11:50 > 0:11:54So when I walk her, she walks right beside me.
0:11:54 > 0:11:57She actually picked up dog bones and chewed them too.
0:11:57 > 0:12:01She sits for treats.
0:12:05 > 0:12:06Ahem.
0:12:06 > 0:12:08After you, Miss Kitty.
0:12:13 > 0:12:14Thank you.
0:12:14 > 0:12:17Now, if you think you've seen everything, prepare yourself,
0:12:17 > 0:12:21because this spoilt pig was also taught dog agility.
0:12:23 > 0:12:29Pigs don't usually participate, but Jane couldn't leave Miss Piggy out of the family fun.
0:12:36 > 0:12:41See, that's how it's done. You're supposed to run fast.
0:12:41 > 0:12:45This is a flyball course that we usually teach dogs with.
0:12:45 > 0:12:52But since we had Miss Kitty in our house, I decided to have some fun and we did some jumps.
0:12:52 > 0:12:55It might be a rather odd pastime for a pig, but there's little surprise
0:12:55 > 0:13:00she would rather do this than dig outside in the dirt.
0:13:00 > 0:13:01Over. Over.
0:13:01 > 0:13:04Ready?
0:13:04 > 0:13:06Come on. Let's go. Over.
0:13:06 > 0:13:09Yay! One more.
0:13:09 > 0:13:12What a good girl. Yay!
0:13:12 > 0:13:15When she was little, she could go a lot faster.
0:13:16 > 0:13:18Over. Good girl!
0:13:18 > 0:13:21She actually ran quite quickly. Yes. Good girl.
0:13:21 > 0:13:25Faster. Yay! Good girl! Good girl.
0:13:25 > 0:13:28Over.
0:13:28 > 0:13:32But because of her size now, she's a little slow on the course.
0:13:32 > 0:13:33Are you helping, Jack?
0:13:33 > 0:13:38When she was a piglet, Miss Kitty weighed a tiny two kilos.
0:13:38 > 0:13:41This is actually lemon loaf.
0:13:41 > 0:13:43She has a sweet tooth!
0:13:43 > 0:13:46But this is a hog with a hearty appetite, and that means she could
0:13:46 > 0:13:50check in at a frightening 300 kilos.
0:13:50 > 0:13:55That's the weight of four average men. Imagine that lump on your sofa!
0:13:55 > 0:14:01She was getting a little too big for the house and she was starting to smell up the place.
0:14:01 > 0:14:06PIG FARTS This is why we don't have our pig in the house any more.
0:14:06 > 0:14:10Pigs pass wind up to 50 times a day.
0:14:10 > 0:14:13Imagine that smell on your sofa!
0:14:21 > 0:14:25Sadly, for a very spoilt and very stinky Miss Kitty,
0:14:25 > 0:14:27after nine months, this life of luxury had to stop.
0:14:27 > 0:14:32We decided we were gonna move her out to the barn.
0:14:32 > 0:14:37We threw in a whole bunch of straw with her so she would stay warm.
0:14:37 > 0:14:39So...we left her out there.
0:14:41 > 0:14:46Forced to live like a pig against her will, Miss Kitty just doesn't want to pitch in with the fieldwork.
0:14:46 > 0:14:51Understandably, she rather preferred the good life.
0:14:53 > 0:14:57Coming up - what's it going to take for Miss Kitty to get her snout to the grindstone?
0:15:00 > 0:15:04Maybe she'll meet her match in mentor, Margaret.
0:15:10 > 0:15:14Since I've been doing Animals At Work, requests for my autograph have gone wild!
0:15:14 > 0:15:16John, you "otter" have a look at these.
0:15:16 > 0:15:18Oh, yeah. More autographs.
0:15:18 > 0:15:21What can I say? Thanks, everybody.
0:15:22 > 0:15:24Otters? Ottergraphs?
0:15:24 > 0:15:26"I otter have a look at these."
0:15:26 > 0:15:30Why's it always about the animals on this programme?
0:15:32 > 0:15:34Next, we go to Gloucestershire, in England.
0:15:43 > 0:15:45Meet Rudy, Bertie and Belinda.
0:15:45 > 0:15:50These wriggly critters are Asian short-clawed otters and they all live with boss Daphne.
0:15:50 > 0:15:55She's looked after abandoned otters for almost 30 years.
0:15:55 > 0:15:59And Rudy here is the latest to sweep everyone off their feet.
0:16:01 > 0:16:04Rudy's two years old now and he gets on really well
0:16:04 > 0:16:06with the other two otters, Bertie and Belinda.
0:16:06 > 0:16:10Otters have this wonderful capacity for enjoyment.
0:16:10 > 0:16:13They're the natural actors of...
0:16:13 > 0:16:15of the animal world.
0:16:15 > 0:16:19Together, Rudy and Daphne teach the world about otters,
0:16:19 > 0:16:23and today they are booked for a display at an agricultural show.
0:16:27 > 0:16:32It's one of his biggest gigs of the year, so it's important that Rudy looks and acts his best.
0:16:34 > 0:16:38It's Rudy's third time. He went when he was a tiny baby first of all.
0:16:43 > 0:16:48Rudy was abandoned by his mother at two months old, so Daphne hand-reared him.
0:16:48 > 0:16:52His outgoing personality made him a natural at public relations.
0:16:52 > 0:16:59People have always said for years and years and years that otters are natural actors.
0:17:01 > 0:17:04His job as a public relations officer is important for his race.
0:17:04 > 0:17:08Man is the otter's only natural predator,
0:17:08 > 0:17:12so the more educated people are about these slippery suckers,
0:17:12 > 0:17:15the more likely they are to survive in the wild.
0:17:18 > 0:17:21At the Frampton Country Fair, there are thousands of visitors.
0:17:21 > 0:17:25Rudy will soon be clocking on and mingling with the crowds.
0:17:25 > 0:17:27But Daphne's first job is to catch him.
0:17:27 > 0:17:31Everything he does is quite funny, really.
0:17:41 > 0:17:47Even though he has double thick fur to keep him warm, it seems Rudy wants to be a little "otter".
0:17:54 > 0:17:58Daphne has played with him this way since he was a young pup.
0:18:02 > 0:18:03Ooh, look, look, look!
0:18:03 > 0:18:07There's a good boy. They've got a name for
0:18:07 > 0:18:11being shy and reclusive, but that isn't really their nature at all.
0:18:11 > 0:18:15No, no, in a perfect world, an otter can be quite mischievous.
0:18:15 > 0:18:18Playtime over, time to get Rudy to focus.
0:18:18 > 0:18:21And what better way than with his favourite food?
0:18:21 > 0:18:25Now in the wild, otters eat a lot of eggs.
0:18:25 > 0:18:28Obviously they'd be raw.
0:18:28 > 0:18:31Would you like a second one? There you are.
0:18:32 > 0:18:34Fish is another favourite on the otter menu.
0:18:34 > 0:18:39And co-worker Belinda is tucking into a juicy trout.
0:18:39 > 0:18:42Although otters don't live in water, much of their food does.
0:18:42 > 0:18:47This is why Belinda and Rudy help to educate people about the dangers of pollution.
0:18:50 > 0:18:52Would any of you like to ask Rudy some questions?
0:18:52 > 0:18:58How can they swim underwater with their eyes open?
0:18:58 > 0:19:03Well, they've got special lenses on their eyes
0:19:03 > 0:19:06so they can see the fish clearly when they swim underwater.
0:19:06 > 0:19:08You hold out your hand.
0:19:08 > 0:19:10That's right, four fingers.
0:19:10 > 0:19:13One, two, three, four. And a thumb.
0:19:13 > 0:19:17That's right, just the same as an otter. See their little hands?
0:19:17 > 0:19:23Otters use those hands to swim and can reach speeds of up to 12 kilometres an hour.
0:19:23 > 0:19:25But it's on dry land where they really move.
0:19:39 > 0:19:45Oh, Rudy's always doing something quite unexpected, and that's what I think the crowd loves.
0:19:45 > 0:19:48So, besides all the messing around, what has Rudy taught his audience?
0:19:48 > 0:19:52And what do you think about when you watch my otters?
0:19:52 > 0:19:55Little rotters, basically, going up your trousers.
0:19:55 > 0:19:59They're really, really playful, and they look really, really playful.
0:19:59 > 0:20:05They're not just swimming, walking things, they're also sweet little playful things.
0:20:11 > 0:20:15You'll be amazed at what some creatures get up to in the comfort of their own home!
0:20:15 > 0:20:21Kelsey Green here in Aylesbury has to share her bath with a very prickly character.
0:20:21 > 0:20:24This happy hedgehog is Spikey.
0:20:24 > 0:20:28There's no work for him. His life is going just swimmingly.
0:20:32 > 0:20:38Uh... Do remember to rinse the tub when you get out, Spikey, there's a good boy.
0:20:42 > 0:20:45And now it's over to California for some canines.
0:20:55 > 0:21:01Say hi to Harris the Welsh Pembroke corgi and his buddy Barack the black Labrador.
0:21:04 > 0:21:11These two service dogs make life a little easier for their hearing impaired owners Dennis and Natalie.
0:21:11 > 0:21:15And today, these Californian canines face the challenge of their lives.
0:21:15 > 0:21:20If they don't pass a tough hearing dog test, they'll lose their jobs.
0:21:22 > 0:21:25These dogs are always on duty, and when they hear anything...
0:21:25 > 0:21:28- OVEN BEEPS - they alert their owners.
0:21:28 > 0:21:32Look, Dennis, Harris says dinner's ready!
0:21:32 > 0:21:34Hey, no napping there, Barack.
0:21:34 > 0:21:36- PHONE RINGS - The phone's ringing!
0:21:36 > 0:21:40They're always on duty 24/7.
0:21:40 > 0:21:42Even if they're playing, if the doorbell rings,
0:21:42 > 0:21:44the microwave goes off, whatever,
0:21:44 > 0:21:49they are obligated to come and get us, take us to where the sound is.
0:21:49 > 0:21:55So it's vitally important that Barack and Harris's hearing is always in tip-top condition.
0:21:55 > 0:21:58That means that these mutts' ears are tested to the limit.
0:22:00 > 0:22:02Good girl.
0:22:04 > 0:22:08Today it really is time for these hearing dogs to listen up,
0:22:08 > 0:22:11because they face a very tough exam at this training institute.
0:22:14 > 0:22:20These tests are very serious. If the graduates don't pass them, then they don't get public certification
0:22:20 > 0:22:23which means they're not able to take their dogs out in public.
0:22:23 > 0:22:27So the pressure is on these pooches to pass. Test one, a physical.
0:22:27 > 0:22:30Good girl. Nice weight.
0:22:30 > 0:22:31I think she looks good. Great job.
0:22:31 > 0:22:33Her weight looks good.
0:22:33 > 0:22:35You survived. That wasn't so bad.
0:22:35 > 0:22:41Judged fit and healthy, Harris and Barack must now impress the panel with their obedience.
0:22:43 > 0:22:48Service dogs must always wait for their owners to get out of the car
0:22:48 > 0:22:50first and stay by their side.
0:22:50 > 0:22:52Barack is certainly on the ball,
0:22:52 > 0:22:59and Harris has no problem either. Is there anything that would distract these hard-working dogs?
0:22:59 > 0:23:01Time to get tough.
0:23:03 > 0:23:08Will the tasty temptation of French fries take Harris's mind off the job?
0:23:08 > 0:23:10Mmmm! Mmm, Harris.
0:23:10 > 0:23:13Get your eyes on the fries.
0:23:13 > 0:23:18Mmmm, mmm. Come on Harris. No?
0:23:18 > 0:23:23It seems that not even fast food can tempt this most professional of pooches.
0:23:25 > 0:23:29And that's it. Exams are over. How did they do?
0:23:29 > 0:23:32The dynamic duo, Harris and Barack, did great today.
0:23:32 > 0:23:37I love watching them work together, both the two dogs and the two handlers.
0:23:37 > 0:23:39Well done, boys.
0:23:39 > 0:23:41Keep up the good work, ya hear?
0:23:45 > 0:23:49Finally, it's time to fly back to Nova Scotia.
0:23:51 > 0:23:55Miss Kitty is one pampered pig.
0:23:56 > 0:24:03As her fellow Tamworths do their duty and plough up this land with their noses,
0:24:03 > 0:24:05she would rather sleep.
0:24:05 > 0:24:08No, you're not going down.
0:24:08 > 0:24:10Do you need to get a drink?
0:24:10 > 0:24:17But it's hardly surprising given that for all her nine months, Miss Kitty has lived a life of luxury...
0:24:20 > 0:24:23..behaving more like a pampered pooch than a pig with a job to do.
0:24:23 > 0:24:29- Good girl. - Against her will, this spoilt porker has been forced into the field.
0:24:29 > 0:24:32You're supposed to be working.
0:24:32 > 0:24:36Finally, Miss Kitty is living like a pig.
0:24:36 > 0:24:38But for the last few days, she's been on strike.
0:24:41 > 0:24:47To get her motivated, Jane has enlisted the help
0:24:47 > 0:24:49of an old hand. Well, an old trotter.
0:24:49 > 0:24:54Margaret is an expert muncher and will be Miss Kitty's mentor.
0:24:54 > 0:24:57This is Miss Kitty's co-worker, her name is Margaret.
0:24:57 > 0:25:01It's a little warm so she's trying to cool down right now.
0:25:01 > 0:25:05She's about a year and a half.
0:25:05 > 0:25:06Miss Kitty is nine months old.
0:25:06 > 0:25:11So there's almost a season difference in their age.
0:25:11 > 0:25:16So Jane is banking on this full season's worth of experience in tilling the land,
0:25:16 > 0:25:22to get Miss Kitty motivated enough to get started. Let's go, Margaret!
0:25:22 > 0:25:25And they're talking to each other.
0:25:25 > 0:25:27Don't beat her up. Be nice.
0:25:27 > 0:25:32Unfortunately, it looks like Miss Kitty wants to turn the staffroom into a real pigsty.
0:25:34 > 0:25:38Time for Margaret to give Miss Kitty a pep talk, girl to girl.
0:25:41 > 0:25:44Whatever she snorted seems to be working, as Miss Kitty
0:25:44 > 0:25:48finally gets off her porky behind and makes her way into the field.
0:25:50 > 0:25:52Wait for it...
0:25:52 > 0:25:53Is she going to do some work?
0:25:53 > 0:25:56Yes, she is!
0:25:56 > 0:26:00Margaret's mentoring has finally had its desired effect on Miss Kitty.
0:26:05 > 0:26:10Ordered out into the field, Miss Kitty might have a promising career in gardening after all.
0:26:13 > 0:26:16Much to the surprise of mentor Margaret,
0:26:16 > 0:26:23mum Heather, dad Morris, three little pigs and her bosses.
0:26:32 > 0:26:36Nobody can quite believe the soil success.
0:26:36 > 0:26:38Miss Kitty has found a corner of our garden to start
0:26:38 > 0:26:43tilling, so she's been doing this for about five minutes.
0:26:43 > 0:26:47It's taken some time, but the sow's got her nose into the business.
0:26:47 > 0:26:51At last, she's stopped acting like a dog.
0:26:53 > 0:26:55She's getting her rewards right now
0:26:55 > 0:27:00by tilling up the dirt and eating whatever's in there that she likes to eat.
0:27:00 > 0:27:03So I think she's a pretty happy pig.
0:27:03 > 0:27:09As you can see, she's done quite a good job so I think she did a great day of work today.
0:27:10 > 0:27:13I think she's a pretty happy pig.
0:27:13 > 0:27:15Good gardening there, Miss Kitty.
0:27:15 > 0:27:19After all that digging, you deserve a bone.
0:27:19 > 0:27:20Great work today, Kitty.
0:27:20 > 0:27:22You did a very good job.
0:27:22 > 0:27:24Thank you very much.
0:27:26 > 0:27:31Thanks for joining us on Animals At Work. That's all we've got time for, so it's goodbye from me...
0:27:33 > 0:27:35..and it's goodbye from him.
