0:01:01 > 0:01:06Hi, everybody, welcome to Animals At Work, where animals work

0:01:06 > 0:01:09and eat my arm off. Aaaargh!

0:01:14 > 0:01:18First we're off to Gloucestershire in the UK.

0:01:23 > 0:01:24Lilly!

0:01:25 > 0:01:29Somewhere in this garden lives a cat with a great job.

0:01:29 > 0:01:32In fact, it's a job so brilliant

0:01:32 > 0:01:36that it makes her the envy of moggies all over the world.

0:01:36 > 0:01:37- Erm...- Come on, Lilly.

0:01:37 > 0:01:40..When she decides to show up for work, that is.

0:01:40 > 0:01:43None of the other employees get fished out of bushes.

0:01:43 > 0:01:44Ah, here she is.

0:01:46 > 0:01:48It's like herding cats.

0:01:48 > 0:01:51At last, meet Lilly.

0:01:53 > 0:01:56Lilly is a lucky kitty who gets to eat for a living.

0:01:56 > 0:01:58Which do you prefer?

0:01:59 > 0:02:02Mmm. She's a taste tester.

0:02:04 > 0:02:06She works for her boss, Joe.

0:02:06 > 0:02:11A vet who's hoping to launch a line of cat food products.

0:02:11 > 0:02:14I do all the business side of things,

0:02:14 > 0:02:18and Lilly, here, is the chief taste tester. Do your thing.

0:02:18 > 0:02:21Lilly and Joe's business has reached a critical stage.

0:02:21 > 0:02:25Over the next few days they need to finalise their new cat food recipe

0:02:25 > 0:02:28and try it on a test kitty group.

0:02:29 > 0:02:33There's a lot of work to do and Lilly's going to have to

0:02:33 > 0:02:38knuckle down and take things a BITE more seriously.

0:02:39 > 0:02:42Lilly and Joe have all the ingredients

0:02:42 > 0:02:45to become a business success.

0:02:45 > 0:02:48They're attempting to invent a new meal to give cats more variety.

0:02:48 > 0:02:51I think cat food could do with a bit of improving.

0:02:51 > 0:02:54By getting their recipe right, they hope they'll have

0:02:54 > 0:02:58something that every cat out there will be crazy for.

0:02:58 > 0:03:00Wait for it...

0:03:00 > 0:03:02..cat smoothies!

0:03:02 > 0:03:06Yes, you heard right. Smoothies for cats.

0:03:06 > 0:03:09I think I'm going to call this one Trout Surprise.

0:03:09 > 0:03:12Lilly and Joe were inspired to create a new cat food range

0:03:12 > 0:03:14after listening to Joe's patients.

0:03:14 > 0:03:16I had people coming in with cats and dogs,

0:03:16 > 0:03:20saying "Is it safe? Can I cook meals for my pets at home?"

0:03:20 > 0:03:21Joe didn't know the answer,

0:03:21 > 0:03:24so he went about doing the research himself

0:03:24 > 0:03:27and soon realised he was onto something.

0:03:27 > 0:03:29A new food recipe for cats.

0:03:29 > 0:03:33These recipes include all of Lilly's favourite ingredients

0:03:33 > 0:03:38and are nutritionally important. Things like eggs, fruit and veggies

0:03:38 > 0:03:41and most importantly, meat.

0:03:41 > 0:03:43You can't have vegetarian cats.

0:03:43 > 0:03:45They can't survive on a vegetarian diet.

0:03:45 > 0:03:47For Joe and Lilly, their biggest challenge

0:03:47 > 0:03:49is finding new combinations.

0:03:49 > 0:03:52Joe cooks. Lilly does the sampling...

0:03:52 > 0:03:53She's wolfing that.

0:03:53 > 0:03:57..giving her verdict on whether they work or not.

0:03:57 > 0:03:59Well done, Lilly. She comes into the office...

0:03:59 > 0:04:01Time to go to work.

0:04:01 > 0:04:05..she tastes lots of fresh bits of fish and chicken and things

0:04:05 > 0:04:08and gives it the paw up or the paw down.

0:04:08 > 0:04:11There's a lot invested in Lilly's verdict.

0:04:11 > 0:04:13This is tougher than you'd think,

0:04:13 > 0:04:16because cats are notoriously picky eaters.

0:04:16 > 0:04:18No-one's entirely sure why this is, but it does mean

0:04:18 > 0:04:22Lilly really needs to concentrate on the flavours to get it right.

0:04:22 > 0:04:27You'd think that Lilly would take her job very seriously.

0:04:27 > 0:04:30But she's not what you'd call the perfect employee.

0:04:30 > 0:04:32She's always trying to get on the desk.

0:04:32 > 0:04:35It's hard to tell her off because that's her job.

0:04:35 > 0:04:38But the time has come for Lilly to start taking things seriously.

0:04:39 > 0:04:42The next few days are critical

0:04:42 > 0:04:46if her and Joe's business venture is going to be a winner.

0:04:46 > 0:04:48They need to select the final recipe.

0:04:48 > 0:04:51This one is chicken, veg and prawn.

0:04:51 > 0:04:55Then, they need to test the product out on a local cat shelter.

0:04:55 > 0:04:57- There we go.- Lovely.

0:04:57 > 0:05:00This'll be be making or breaking of your smoothie recipe.

0:05:00 > 0:05:04If things go well then Lilly and Joe are in business

0:05:04 > 0:05:06and could be on the way to making millions.

0:05:06 > 0:05:09But to stand any chance of that happening...

0:05:09 > 0:05:12Come on, Lilly. Time to go to work.

0:05:12 > 0:05:16..Lilly has to pull her claw out and work on her attitude.

0:05:16 > 0:05:18She decides that she doesn't want to come in.

0:05:18 > 0:05:21She just says "No," and she runs outside. Lilly!

0:05:21 > 0:05:25Oh, and actually going to work would be a bonus.

0:05:25 > 0:05:28I've got her! You're going to work whether you like it or not.

0:05:28 > 0:05:31Lilly and Joe have everything riding on this.

0:05:31 > 0:05:34The cats at the rescue centre have to like the recipe.

0:05:34 > 0:05:36The pressure really is on.

0:05:39 > 0:05:43Later, can Lilly improve her professional attitude?

0:05:45 > 0:05:47Or will her new recipe be a cat-astrophe?

0:05:47 > 0:05:51Not going for our one. She's going for the other one. Hmm.

0:05:54 > 0:05:58It's not just today that animals have had jobs.

0:05:58 > 0:06:00In fact, history reveals that in the past,

0:06:00 > 0:06:03they've had even more amazing jobs than today.

0:06:03 > 0:06:07And here are those, History's Heroes.

0:06:08 > 0:06:11I, Professor Bumbleman, animal historian,

0:06:11 > 0:06:14do pledge allegiance to the show Animals At Work

0:06:14 > 0:06:17and promise to spread stories of animal loyalty

0:06:17 > 0:06:19to all that will listen.

0:06:19 > 0:06:21Stories like this.

0:06:21 > 0:06:25Our first incredible, loyal employee is Barry the St Bernard.

0:06:25 > 0:06:27From 1800 to 1814,

0:06:27 > 0:06:31he worked at a monastery along the treacherous St Bernard's path,

0:06:31 > 0:06:33in the Swiss Alps.

0:06:33 > 0:06:36Working with the monks, Barry rescued over 40 people,

0:06:36 > 0:06:39who were lost in the snow, from freezing to death.

0:06:39 > 0:06:43If, however, Barry couldn't drag the stranded folk home to safety,

0:06:43 > 0:06:46he'd lay on top of them throughout the cold, cold night,

0:06:46 > 0:06:48warming them with his furry body.

0:06:48 > 0:06:52Barry's loyalty was rewarded with, well, loyalty.

0:06:52 > 0:06:57Even today at the monastery, one dog is always named Barry in his honour.

0:06:57 > 0:06:59Nice.

0:06:59 > 0:07:02Next in our loyalty list is the Australian dingo,

0:07:02 > 0:07:06a breed of dog many consider to be wild and untameable.

0:07:06 > 0:07:08But this hasn't always been the case.

0:07:08 > 0:07:12In the past, dingoes worked with the Australian aboriginals,

0:07:12 > 0:07:15helping them throughout the day with their hunting.

0:07:15 > 0:07:19Despite the hard day, the dingo didn't stop working at night.

0:07:19 > 0:07:24They'd loyally curl up in bed with the humans, acting as a bed warmer.

0:07:25 > 0:07:27If you think that was true loyalty,

0:07:27 > 0:07:30the next working animal is even more impressive.

0:07:30 > 0:07:34Tirpitz the pig, worked aboard the German SMS Dresden

0:07:34 > 0:07:36during the First World War.

0:07:36 > 0:07:39The war was not going well for the Germans,

0:07:39 > 0:07:42and during one battle the Dresden was sunk. Oh, dear.

0:07:42 > 0:07:45Everyone jumped ship, even the captain.

0:07:45 > 0:07:46But not Tirpitz.

0:07:46 > 0:07:51He loyally stayed onboard right till the ship disappeared into the sea.

0:07:51 > 0:07:54An hour later, crew from a British warship

0:07:54 > 0:07:57spotted Tirpitz in the water and he was rescued.

0:07:59 > 0:08:03The crew awarded him the Iron Cross for loyalty and bravery,

0:08:03 > 0:08:05for sticking to his sinking ship

0:08:05 > 0:08:07even after everyone else had abandoned it.

0:08:07 > 0:08:09Good on you, Tirpitz !

0:08:09 > 0:08:14And that, my dear, loyal friends, concludes another History's Heroes.

0:08:14 > 0:08:16And remember, now I've pledged allegiance

0:08:16 > 0:08:20to Animals At Work, I'll always be here for you.

0:08:21 > 0:08:24PHONE RINGS

0:08:24 > 0:08:25Hello?

0:08:25 > 0:08:27Blue Peter!

0:08:27 > 0:08:29You want to offer me the presenter's job?

0:08:29 > 0:08:32Waahoo! Where's my sticky back plastic?

0:08:36 > 0:08:39Now, it's back to Gloucestershire in England.

0:08:41 > 0:08:43This is Lilly and vet, Joe.

0:08:43 > 0:08:45That's number one, chicken and haddock.

0:08:45 > 0:08:49Together they've set up a business creating smoothies for cats.

0:08:52 > 0:08:56Joe knocks up the recipes, whilst Lilly has the fun job.

0:08:56 > 0:08:58She gets to test them out.

0:08:58 > 0:09:00I rely on her to make sure all the other cats

0:09:00 > 0:09:03are going to eat the food and enjoy it.

0:09:03 > 0:09:04Yummy!

0:09:04 > 0:09:07But now, the business has reached a critical stage.

0:09:07 > 0:09:12The launch date is approaching and there's a lot to do.

0:09:12 > 0:09:14They need to choose a recipe to be tested

0:09:14 > 0:09:17on some kitty diners at a local cat shelter.

0:09:17 > 0:09:20And it's important that they like what they're given.

0:09:22 > 0:09:25The problem is that seven-month-old Lilly

0:09:25 > 0:09:27isn't the most professional worker.

0:09:27 > 0:09:29You can ask a cat to do something

0:09:29 > 0:09:31but you can't tell a cat to do anything.

0:09:31 > 0:09:35- And that's if she actually bothers to go into work at all.- Lilly!

0:09:35 > 0:09:38I've got some lovely new recipes for you to try today, come on.

0:09:38 > 0:09:41It's make or break for Lilly's business.

0:09:41 > 0:09:44Can she act professionally enough to make it a success?

0:09:44 > 0:09:46Enough's enough, cat.

0:09:47 > 0:09:48The time has come.

0:09:50 > 0:09:54Lilly and Joe need to prepare for the tasting at the cat shelter.

0:09:57 > 0:10:02So it's off to work. The question is, will Lilly make it in on time?

0:10:02 > 0:10:06Oh, she's not in the garden again, is she?

0:10:06 > 0:10:08Lilly! No!

0:10:08 > 0:10:10No, she's arrived and is raring to go.

0:10:10 > 0:10:14Could it be that she's already turned over a new leaf?

0:10:16 > 0:10:19Lilly needs to select which of Joe's smoothie recipes

0:10:19 > 0:10:22they'll be testing out at the cat shelter.

0:10:22 > 0:10:27This is key, as cats are incredibly picky about what they eat.

0:10:27 > 0:10:30There's a lot riding on this. Joe gets cooking.

0:10:30 > 0:10:34..a bit of tuna fish, bit of banana, about 100g of prawns.

0:10:34 > 0:10:38While Lilly, well, she takes it easy.

0:10:38 > 0:10:40A little slurp of coconut milk.

0:10:43 > 0:10:47- Steady on there, Joe! - Try and be a bit more careful.

0:10:47 > 0:10:49And voila! Dinner is served.

0:10:49 > 0:10:53Joe has cooked up three of his and Lilly's recipes,

0:10:53 > 0:10:57which he'll be serving with normal dry shop-bought cat food.

0:10:57 > 0:10:58Now comes the important bit.

0:10:58 > 0:11:02Lilly needs to select which one they'll test out at the cat shelter.

0:11:02 > 0:11:05There. Do your thing. Which do you prefer?

0:11:05 > 0:11:07Time for our taste tester to go to work.

0:11:07 > 0:11:10And she's got a tough decision to make.

0:11:11 > 0:11:15Dish number one is a chicken, vegetable and prawn combo.

0:11:17 > 0:11:23Dish number two is a concoction featuring...

0:11:25 > 0:11:29Dish number three is a chicken and haddock blend.

0:11:30 > 0:11:34This is the first time Lilly will try any of my smoothie recipes.

0:11:34 > 0:11:37Fingers crossed she'll lap them up and really like them.

0:11:37 > 0:11:38So it's the big moment.

0:11:38 > 0:11:42Time for Lilly to make the decision on which her business hinges.

0:11:42 > 0:11:45Which smoothie should they test out at the shelter home?

0:11:49 > 0:11:53First up, it's dish number one. What does Lilly make of this?

0:11:54 > 0:11:56She's having a taste.

0:11:57 > 0:12:01But nothing more. Lilly's not interested in dish number one,

0:12:01 > 0:12:04the chicken veg and prawn combo is a disaster.

0:12:04 > 0:12:07So what about dish number two?

0:12:07 > 0:12:09Remember, this is the crazy combination,

0:12:09 > 0:12:11which includes trout and banana.

0:12:13 > 0:12:17Oh, this is interesting. This one clearly tickles Lilly's fancy. Yes!

0:12:17 > 0:12:19She's filling her boots with this one.

0:12:19 > 0:12:22- She's wolfing that one down. - Before she gets too full,

0:12:22 > 0:12:25Lilly moves on to the final dish, number three.

0:12:25 > 0:12:28Will this appeal more than dish two?

0:12:28 > 0:12:30Urgh, it appears not.

0:12:30 > 0:12:33A quick sample before she turns back to dish two.

0:12:33 > 0:12:34I think we've got a winner.

0:12:34 > 0:12:37Which means we have it. There's a clear winner.

0:12:37 > 0:12:39It's all about dish number two.

0:12:40 > 0:12:44The wild combination of...

0:12:44 > 0:12:48It's right up Lilly's street and gets her seal of approval.

0:12:48 > 0:12:50That may have looked easy

0:12:50 > 0:12:53but remember what a big decision that was for Lilly.

0:12:53 > 0:12:57- Hello!- It's vital that the cats at the shelter like the recipe.

0:12:57 > 0:13:01And the next step will be to test it out on them.

0:13:01 > 0:13:05If the smoothie is popular, then the team have a hit on their hands.

0:13:05 > 0:13:07If the cats turn their noses up at it,

0:13:07 > 0:13:10it's back to the drawing board for Lilly.

0:13:10 > 0:13:12This really is big.

0:13:12 > 0:13:16Later, it's testing time. Will Lilly's smoothie be a hit?

0:13:24 > 0:13:28Now we're off to London in the UK.

0:13:33 > 0:13:36On a city farm in the east end of London, lives Roo,

0:13:36 > 0:13:42a marvellous mare, with a truly amazing job. She's a life coach.

0:13:42 > 0:13:46A life coach is someone who helps people deal with problems,

0:13:46 > 0:13:50by giving them confidence to improve their lives and make them happier.

0:13:50 > 0:13:52Roo's just brilliant at her job,

0:13:52 > 0:13:55because she understands what it's like to need help,

0:13:55 > 0:13:59as she herself had a troubled start to life.

0:13:59 > 0:14:02When Roo arrived at the farm she was in a terrible state.

0:14:02 > 0:14:05She'd been living in a field during winter.

0:14:05 > 0:14:08She was very hairy, quite skinny,

0:14:08 > 0:14:12just wanted some TLC and some attention.

0:14:12 > 0:14:17A year later, Roo is fit, well and very happy.

0:14:18 > 0:14:23And that's thanks to the love and hard work of everyone at the farm.

0:14:23 > 0:14:26In particular, Roo's best friend, 14-year-old Rebecca.

0:14:26 > 0:14:29I love everything about her. She's just amazing.

0:14:31 > 0:14:34Roo's been Rebecca's life coach since they first met.

0:14:34 > 0:14:36And her influence has been enormous.

0:14:36 > 0:14:39Rebecca's had a tough couple of years.

0:14:39 > 0:14:42She wasn't concentrating in school

0:14:42 > 0:14:46and eventually things got so bad, she had to leave.

0:14:46 > 0:14:47But then she met Roo.

0:14:51 > 0:14:56The two immediately bonded and became friends straight away.

0:14:56 > 0:14:59And with that, Rebecca made a commitment to help look after Roo,

0:14:59 > 0:15:02and nurture her back to health.

0:15:02 > 0:15:05The responsibility of caring for Roo

0:15:05 > 0:15:08gave Rebecca a new passion and purpose in life.

0:15:08 > 0:15:11Rebecca poured her energy into caring for Roo.

0:15:11 > 0:15:15And in return, Roo's been an amazing influence.

0:15:15 > 0:15:17Roo's been Rebecca's saviour.

0:15:17 > 0:15:20As her life coach, Roo's taught Rebecca everything

0:15:20 > 0:15:22about taking care of a horse.

0:15:22 > 0:15:26Yeah, it is a lot of responsibility, because she's such a big animal

0:15:26 > 0:15:29that she, kind of, needs different things.

0:15:29 > 0:15:33Amongst Roo's requirements are being groomed,

0:15:33 > 0:15:37being mucked out and having footwear that's up to scratch.

0:15:37 > 0:15:40Rebecca needs to make sure that Roo gets fitted

0:15:40 > 0:15:43for a new pair of shoes every six to eight weeks.

0:15:43 > 0:15:48On top of that, Rebecca has to make sure that Roo's pearly whites

0:15:48 > 0:15:50get a routine check up once a year.

0:15:51 > 0:15:54Don't let the smile fool you.

0:15:54 > 0:15:56Roo can be pretty hard to handle at times.

0:15:56 > 0:16:00But keeping Rebecca on her toes is all part of the job.

0:16:00 > 0:16:05One minute she's really nice and the next she's a bit grouchy and that.

0:16:07 > 0:16:10What ever tactic Roo's using, it's working.

0:16:10 > 0:16:12She's teaching me to be patient.

0:16:12 > 0:16:14As the bond between them gets stronger,

0:16:14 > 0:16:18Rebecca's life continues to improve.

0:16:19 > 0:16:22Now that both are on an even keel, they have so much confidence,

0:16:22 > 0:16:25they not only ride together, they jump, too!

0:16:25 > 0:16:28Head up, legs on, off you go. Push, push, push!

0:16:28 > 0:16:32Look at the confidence shining through as they take on the jumps.

0:16:33 > 0:16:36And no matter how high the bar's raised,

0:16:38 > 0:16:42Roo and Rebecca meet up to the challenge. Truly amazing.

0:16:44 > 0:16:47It looks like nothing can stand in this pair's way,

0:16:47 > 0:16:50as they continue to prove, that with the help of a friend,

0:16:50 > 0:16:54obstacles can always be overcome.

0:16:54 > 0:16:58So let's hear it for Roo, the life coach with a difference.

0:17:06 > 0:17:10GERMAN ACCENT: All these pesky animals are getting all zee jobs!

0:17:10 > 0:17:14I must invent something to give these jobs back to humans!

0:17:14 > 0:17:16Ah! Hello, there.

0:17:16 > 0:17:21I am John Brainyman, the world's greatest inventor of animal gadgets.

0:17:21 > 0:17:25Today I am working on a pair of headphones

0:17:25 > 0:17:28that will make a human be able to hear in sonar, just like a bat.

0:17:28 > 0:17:30Time to test them out.

0:17:31 > 0:17:35Now, please don't worry, this is perfectly safe.

0:17:39 > 0:17:42I have thought of every possible eventuality,

0:17:42 > 0:17:47and I assure you nothing, absolutely nothing, can go wrong.

0:17:51 > 0:17:55Ah, I think it's working, I can hear...

0:17:55 > 0:17:57Aaah-ha-ha!

0:17:59 > 0:18:00Aaah-ho-ho!

0:18:00 > 0:18:03MACHINE BEEPS

0:18:04 > 0:18:06BANG!

0:18:17 > 0:18:20I need the fanimals, they're the kids who love animals.

0:18:20 > 0:18:24- And here they are, it's the... - Fanimals, yes!

0:18:26 > 0:18:29Meet the fanimals, our animal detectives.

0:18:35 > 0:18:38Today the fanimals are challenged to prove

0:18:38 > 0:18:42that Shetland ponies could have jobs as athletes...

0:18:42 > 0:18:44- You can do it! - ..by putting these two tidy beasts

0:18:44 > 0:18:48head to head in a race across a tricky obstacle course.

0:18:48 > 0:18:50Welcome to...

0:18:52 > 0:18:54Let's meet our mini athletes.

0:19:03 > 0:19:07Both Bear and Image love the idea of being a professional racer.

0:19:07 > 0:19:12Unfortunately for them, neither is what you'd call a natural athlete.

0:19:12 > 0:19:14You only have to take one look at them to guess that

0:19:14 > 0:19:17Shetland ponies are the smallest breed of horses.

0:19:17 > 0:19:20Their average height is...

0:19:20 > 0:19:22..although some don't grow to be much taller than...

0:19:25 > 0:19:30That's two and a half times shorter than the biggest horse breed.

0:19:30 > 0:19:35Being small, Shetland's aren't what you'd consider ideal for racing.

0:19:35 > 0:19:38On average, a Shetland's legs measure less than...

0:19:38 > 0:19:42Which makes fast speed and jumping a bit of a problem.

0:19:42 > 0:19:46The fanimals are too big, so they won't be riding them.

0:19:46 > 0:19:48Instead, they'll lead them around

0:19:48 > 0:19:51one of the toughest obstacle courses imaginable.

0:19:51 > 0:19:53Their first challenge will be

0:19:53 > 0:19:56to reach a tennis ball placed on a bollard.

0:19:56 > 0:19:59Once their fanimal guide has grabbed the ball,

0:19:59 > 0:20:02the pony will have to cross a tricky seesaw

0:20:02 > 0:20:05next they splish-splash through the water simulator.

0:20:05 > 0:20:09Then it's up and over the horsey hurdle.

0:20:09 > 0:20:13A quick zigzag around the cones and over the finish line. Tricky, eh?

0:20:13 > 0:20:15Hey guys, let's do the course.

0:20:15 > 0:20:17So, on with the race.

0:20:17 > 0:20:22Fanimal Seth is leading Bear, while Fanimal Mila leads Image.

0:20:22 > 0:20:25Any pre-race predictions for the fanimals?

0:20:25 > 0:20:28It depends on everything that goes wrong.

0:20:28 > 0:20:31I'm not sure if I'm going to make it.

0:20:31 > 0:20:34It's not hard to see why Mila's finding it hard to be positive.

0:20:34 > 0:20:37Despite her dreams of being a pro-athlete.

0:20:37 > 0:20:39It looks like Image may have pre-race nerves.

0:20:39 > 0:20:42She doesn't even want to be led to the starting line.

0:20:42 > 0:20:47Finally they're at the line. This is what we've all been waiting for.

0:20:47 > 0:20:48Racers, ready?

0:20:48 > 0:20:52- Ooh, the anticipation is killing me. - Racers, ready?

0:20:52 > 0:20:54They're under starter's orders.

0:20:54 > 0:20:56And they're off.

0:20:56 > 0:21:01Bear has made a storming start, as he blazes over the seesaw.

0:21:03 > 0:21:07Image is...well, Image is not moving very fast.

0:21:07 > 0:21:10Oh, no! She's even moving backwards.

0:21:10 > 0:21:12Image, what are you doing?

0:21:12 > 0:21:16Meanwhile, Bear's hammered through the course

0:21:16 > 0:21:18and now only has the hurdle to clear.

0:21:18 > 0:21:21Ooh, but what's this?

0:21:21 > 0:21:22OK, try again.

0:21:22 > 0:21:26Oh, no, Bear. You need to do the jump!

0:21:26 > 0:21:28This is terrible.

0:21:28 > 0:21:30With Image still suffering from race fright,

0:21:30 > 0:21:34- the race couldn't be going more wrong.- Come on, Bear.

0:21:34 > 0:21:36But hold on a moment, what's this?

0:21:36 > 0:21:39Could it be that Bear's going to attempt the hurdle again?

0:21:39 > 0:21:40I think so. Here we go.

0:21:40 > 0:21:45- He storms through to victory. - Bear, go!

0:21:45 > 0:21:49Bear has become the Animals At Work Mini Grand National winner.

0:21:49 > 0:21:54Back at the other end of the course, Image is still having none of it.

0:21:54 > 0:21:57This horse isn't going anywhere. Seth goes back.

0:21:57 > 0:22:00Maybe he can offer some words of encouragement to Image.

0:22:00 > 0:22:03Wow, I don't know what Seth said, but it's certainly done the trick.

0:22:03 > 0:22:05You can do it!

0:22:05 > 0:22:08Image has become the athlete she's always dreamt of being.

0:22:08 > 0:22:10Well, sort of.

0:22:10 > 0:22:15Now she's being a bad loser and doesn't want to jump the hurdle.

0:22:15 > 0:22:19Oh, well, enough is enough. The race is over with Image in second place.

0:22:19 > 0:22:20Good girl.

0:22:20 > 0:22:23So, have the fanimals managed to prove

0:22:23 > 0:22:26that Shetland ponies can be professional athletes?

0:22:26 > 0:22:27Well, sort of.

0:22:27 > 0:22:32With a lot of training, we could make an athlete of Bear yet.

0:22:32 > 0:22:35Image? Well, there's no hope there.

0:22:35 > 0:22:38So, well done, fanimals, and well done, ponies.

0:22:38 > 0:22:41Even you, Image. Even though you're a little bit rubbish.

0:22:45 > 0:22:49Finally, it's back to Gloucestershire in England.

0:22:51 > 0:22:53Earlier on we met seven-month-old Lilly.

0:22:53 > 0:22:55With business partner, Joe,

0:22:55 > 0:22:58she's attempting to launch a brand new range of pet food.

0:22:58 > 0:23:02Smoothies for cats. Whilst Joe knocked together the recipes,

0:23:02 > 0:23:05Lilly does the most important bit.

0:23:05 > 0:23:06She tastes the recipes.

0:23:06 > 0:23:09Right, there you go, Lilly, do your thing.

0:23:09 > 0:23:13She's the taste tester, so decides which flavours work the best.

0:23:13 > 0:23:16Lilly and Joe's business has reached a critical stage.

0:23:16 > 0:23:18They're almost ready to launch.

0:23:18 > 0:23:21To cats, that is the equivalent of a five-star meal.

0:23:21 > 0:23:22But before they do,

0:23:22 > 0:23:26they need to make sure that it's tasty enough to be a hit.

0:23:26 > 0:23:34So today's a massive day. They're taking Lilly's favourite smoothie,

0:23:34 > 0:23:38to a local cat shelter to get the opinion of some of their residents.

0:23:38 > 0:23:42This is make or break time for Lilly and Joe.

0:23:42 > 0:23:45If the smoothie's a success, then they're in business.

0:23:45 > 0:23:50If it's not to the other cats taste, it's back to the drawing board.

0:23:50 > 0:23:53Lilly and Joe arrive at the rescue centre.

0:23:53 > 0:23:56- Hello!- Smoothies for your cats. - Brilliant.

0:23:56 > 0:23:58They're doing their best to act cool.

0:23:58 > 0:24:01Do you mind if I leave Lilly there, while we get the other cats?

0:24:01 > 0:24:02Not a problem.

0:24:02 > 0:24:05But there's no hiding from how much is at stake.

0:24:05 > 0:24:08Lilly's designed her taste test to be as simple as possible.

0:24:08 > 0:24:11Joe will select three of the resident cats.

0:24:11 > 0:24:14In turn, each cat will be given the choice between

0:24:14 > 0:24:16a bowl containing normal cat food,

0:24:16 > 0:24:19and a bowl containing Lilly's smoothie.

0:24:19 > 0:24:22If the cats choose to eat the smoothie,

0:24:22 > 0:24:25then it will deemed a success. If they ignore it,

0:24:25 > 0:24:28then it's the worst possible news for Lilly and Joe.

0:24:28 > 0:24:31The smoothie clearly isn't up to standard.

0:24:31 > 0:24:35Let's meet the cats who it will all come down to.

0:24:39 > 0:24:42Pumpkin loves fish and attacking people's toes.

0:24:45 > 0:24:48Tilly likes cat treats and sitting on people's laps.

0:24:51 > 0:24:54Arthur likes chicken and old people.

0:24:54 > 0:24:58With everything in place, it's almost time

0:24:58 > 0:25:00for the taste testing to commence.

0:25:00 > 0:25:02A camera's been set up to allow

0:25:02 > 0:25:05Lilly and Joe to observe from a separate room.

0:25:05 > 0:25:07Ooh, they look nervous and rightly so.

0:25:07 > 0:25:10This is going to be the making or breaking

0:25:10 > 0:25:14- of your smoothie recipe, Lilly. - It's time to get down to business.

0:25:14 > 0:25:16We'll see which one you like the best.

0:25:16 > 0:25:19In comes tester number one, Pumpkin.

0:25:19 > 0:25:23Pumpkin's a young cat, but she knows what she likes.

0:25:23 > 0:25:25Is she going to fancy the smoothie?

0:25:28 > 0:25:31Yes she is! She's straight in there with no messing about.

0:25:31 > 0:25:33Straight for our smoothie. Fantastic.

0:25:33 > 0:25:37She's made up her mind so quickly, we'd better see that again.

0:25:40 > 0:25:42So Lilly's concoction

0:25:42 > 0:25:45is Pumpkin's favourite. And it's 1-0 to the smoothie.

0:25:45 > 0:25:47This is great news for Lilly.

0:25:47 > 0:25:51But there's no time to relax as we're onto tester number two. Tilly.

0:25:54 > 0:25:59Tilly's taking her time. She seems a bit uncertain.

0:25:59 > 0:26:01Oh, no, what's this?

0:26:01 > 0:26:04It looks like Tilly's having none of it. She's heading off.

0:26:04 > 0:26:07She doesn't seem particularly interested, does she?

0:26:07 > 0:26:09No, wait, wait, wait, she's back.

0:26:09 > 0:26:13And she's ignored the smoothie and gone for the normal cat food.

0:26:13 > 0:26:17Not going for our one, she's going for the other one.

0:26:17 > 0:26:19Oh, it's a disaster. Joe and Lilly are devastated.

0:26:19 > 0:26:21That might be a negative.

0:26:21 > 0:26:23I think we might have failed on this one.

0:26:25 > 0:26:29So the foods are tied at 1-1.

0:26:29 > 0:26:31So one likes it, one not quite so keen.

0:26:31 > 0:26:34We've got Arthur with the deciding vote.

0:26:34 > 0:26:37So it's all on his shoulders which one he'll like.

0:26:37 > 0:26:40Fingers crossed he'll like the smoothie.

0:26:40 > 0:26:44Everything hangs on this. My nerves can't take this.

0:26:44 > 0:26:49I'm not the only one. Lilly's so anxious she can hardly watch.

0:26:49 > 0:26:54Arthur's walking with purpose, he seems to know exactly what he wants.

0:26:54 > 0:26:57He's straight over to the smoothie. It looks like good news.

0:26:57 > 0:27:00But what's this? He's not eating it.

0:27:05 > 0:27:09Has something put him off? Has he changed his mind?

0:27:09 > 0:27:11ARTHUR MIAOWS

0:27:11 > 0:27:14And, he goes for it!

0:27:14 > 0:27:18Arthur's chosen the smoothie, I don't believe it!

0:27:18 > 0:27:21The smoothie has won. Lilly and Joe are beside themselves.

0:27:21 > 0:27:22Hooray!

0:27:22 > 0:27:26The smoothie coming out successfully is the indication

0:27:26 > 0:27:30Lilly and Joe were looking for. It's time to launch the product.

0:27:30 > 0:27:33The next step is to get the smoothies on the production line.

0:27:33 > 0:27:36The cat world's got a new food to get excited about

0:27:36 > 0:27:39and it's all thanks to taste tester Lilly.

0:27:39 > 0:27:43The cat with the best taste buds in the world. Miaow!

0:27:43 > 0:27:47How's that? Lilly was really in TUNA with her taste buds, get it?

0:27:47 > 0:27:49Tuna, tune? Oh, whatever.

0:27:49 > 0:27:52Anyway, thanks for joining us on Animals At Work.

0:27:52 > 0:27:54See you next time. You are so catty!
