0:00:28 > 0:00:30'Some people call me the...'

0:00:34 > 0:00:38'Today I'll show you how to make an incredible cubist painting

0:00:38 > 0:00:40'using an egg box,

0:00:40 > 0:00:43'an awesome hot-air balloon animation

0:00:43 > 0:00:47'and I'll make a collage that will blow your mind!

0:00:47 > 0:00:49'Because today it's...'

0:00:53 > 0:00:55ALARM BEEPS

0:00:58 > 0:01:01It's a new day. Time to get my ninja on.

0:01:03 > 0:01:05And my clothes.

0:01:05 > 0:01:06Yah!!!

0:01:28 > 0:01:30'Time for breakfast.'

0:01:30 > 0:01:31No eggs?

0:01:33 > 0:01:35This would never have happened when I was a kid.

0:01:35 > 0:01:38We had fresh ones laid by the chickens.

0:01:38 > 0:01:42My favourite was Mr Chicken. I loved that pet.

0:01:42 > 0:01:43CLUCKING

0:01:43 > 0:01:46'You wouldn't believe the fun a boy could have with a pet chicken.'

0:01:46 > 0:01:50MUSIC: Love Rollercoaster by Red Hot Chili Peppers

0:01:50 > 0:01:54MUSIC: Stayin' Alive by the Bee Gees

0:01:55 > 0:01:57KNOCKING

0:01:59 > 0:02:00Oh, hey, Gavin, what you got?

0:02:00 > 0:02:02Your magazine, Chicken Weekly.

0:02:02 > 0:02:04It must have been delivered to me by mistake.

0:02:04 > 0:02:07You've not got my magazine at all, have you?

0:02:07 > 0:02:11Unfortunately, Annoying Best Mates Monthly hasn't been delivered yet.

0:02:11 > 0:02:13Ha-ha, good one. Cheers, Rick, see you later.

0:02:13 > 0:02:14See you later.

0:02:14 > 0:02:17You know what, this has given me an idea.

0:02:17 > 0:02:19I'm going to paint a picture of my beloved

0:02:19 > 0:02:23Mr Chicken in the style made popular by Picasso, cubism.

0:02:23 > 0:02:27Using this egg box to give it a great 3D quality, I'm just

0:02:27 > 0:02:28going to wing it.

0:02:31 > 0:02:35I'm going to start by drawing myself a line that I can follow to paint.

0:02:35 > 0:02:37It's quite difficult to draw on an egg box

0:02:37 > 0:02:40so make sure you take your time.

0:02:40 > 0:02:41Right, it's looking pretty good.

0:02:41 > 0:02:43I'm just going to draw the cone now.

0:02:43 > 0:02:44That's the red, wobbly bit.

0:02:44 > 0:02:47That's the kind of thing you learn from Chicken Weekly.

0:02:49 > 0:02:50There we go.

0:02:50 > 0:02:53Good start. Now I can start painting.

0:02:54 > 0:02:57Put a bit of paper down first so that I don't ruin the kitchen top.

0:02:57 > 0:02:59I've got some pre-mix paint here.

0:02:59 > 0:03:03I'm going to use this to paint the main body of the chicken.

0:03:06 > 0:03:08Hello. I am Pablo Picasso.

0:03:08 > 0:03:09Hey, Picasso.

0:03:09 > 0:03:13I helped invent cubism, which means showing things

0:03:13 > 0:03:15painted from many different angles at once.

0:03:15 > 0:03:19I made around 50,000 sculptures, drawings and paintings.

0:03:19 > 0:03:20Here's one now.

0:03:22 > 0:03:26Oi, Picasso, pipe down. I'm trying to paint Mr Chicken.

0:03:26 > 0:03:29You are not the only one who has a monopoly on animals, you know.

0:03:29 > 0:03:32I owned a pet monkey, a goat, a turtle,

0:03:32 > 0:03:34packs of dogs and cats and a wise, old owl.

0:03:34 > 0:03:36Wise words, Picasso.

0:03:39 > 0:03:42You'll find you need to use more paint than normal for a picture

0:03:42 > 0:03:44this size, because you're covering a lot more surface

0:03:44 > 0:03:48area. You've got to go in these crevices, on top of these peaks.

0:03:50 > 0:03:54And to do the feet, I think I need to change brushes.

0:03:54 > 0:03:57'I need a smaller brush to do more detail.'

0:03:57 > 0:03:59Now the next stage is waiting for that to dry.

0:03:59 > 0:04:02But I wait for nothing cos I'm the Art Ninja.

0:04:02 > 0:04:04There we go, nice and dry.

0:04:04 > 0:04:08Now I'm going to do a nice blue sky behind him, and a nice green floor.

0:04:08 > 0:04:11'Adding white to the blue to give me different tones.'

0:04:16 > 0:04:18I think the sky's all done.

0:04:18 > 0:04:21So I'm going to start doing some grass.

0:04:21 > 0:04:24So get the green out. Going to add a bit of yellow to brighten it up.

0:04:24 > 0:04:28And then some white to get a good shade of green.

0:04:32 > 0:04:35I'm going to take the green up to where it meets the blue

0:04:35 > 0:04:39and dab to try and get the representation of blades of grass.

0:04:42 > 0:04:44Very important bit of the chicken now, the comb.

0:04:44 > 0:04:48So I'm going to get out some red. Don't need too much of this,

0:04:48 > 0:04:49just a little bit.

0:04:49 > 0:04:52Don't know why it's called a comb, cos you can't comb it.

0:04:54 > 0:04:57Right. That's the foundations of all the colours done.

0:04:57 > 0:05:00Now I'm going to start putting in some detail.

0:05:00 > 0:05:02Get some of this brown out

0:05:02 > 0:05:04and do the back end of the feathers where it's a bit darker.

0:05:06 > 0:05:09You can go back and use the original colour...just to help

0:05:09 > 0:05:11some of these darker bits blend in.

0:05:13 > 0:05:16Now, I'm just dabbing here to get the speckled effect of the feathers.

0:05:21 > 0:05:25And right now my chicken can't see. So I'm going to do an eye.

0:05:27 > 0:05:31Add a little bit of white. There's a highlight in the eye.

0:05:31 > 0:05:32OK.

0:05:33 > 0:05:36Wow! Look at that!

0:05:36 > 0:05:38I think that's brilliant.

0:05:38 > 0:05:41So from head on, it just looks like a normal picture. And then

0:05:41 > 0:05:45when I turn it, all the peaks and troughs distort the picture,

0:05:45 > 0:05:47giving it that Cubism effect.

0:05:47 > 0:05:50You don't have to paint a chicken, you could paint whatever you want.

0:05:50 > 0:05:54For instance, you could do a self-portrait. Freaky, hey?

0:05:54 > 0:05:59When you lean it forward, it smiles. When you lean it backward,

0:05:59 > 0:06:00little sad face.

0:06:03 > 0:06:06'Incredible cubist art from an egg box.

0:06:06 > 0:06:08'Get cracking on one yourself.

0:06:08 > 0:06:10CLUCKING

0:06:10 > 0:06:11'Now I need some breakfast.'

0:06:14 > 0:06:17That was a productive breakfast time. Now it's animation time.

0:06:25 > 0:06:27This is my friend Andre.

0:06:27 > 0:06:28You all right?

0:06:28 > 0:06:30This is his skate park, and he is

0:06:30 > 0:06:33- going to be my skateboard for the day.- Wahoo!

0:06:33 > 0:06:35You can make an awesome human skateboard animation in just

0:06:35 > 0:06:37three ninja moves.

0:06:38 > 0:06:40'Ninja move number one.'

0:06:40 > 0:06:42Find yourself a willing friend.

0:06:43 > 0:06:44HE LAUGHS

0:06:44 > 0:06:48Now find a friend to help you shoot the animation.

0:06:48 > 0:06:49All right, let's do this.

0:06:53 > 0:06:56'Ninja move number two.

0:06:56 > 0:06:58'Set up your animation and get ready to shoot.'

0:06:58 > 0:07:01OK, I'm going to be doing a skateboarding trick using

0:07:01 > 0:07:02Andre as a skateboard.

0:07:02 > 0:07:04Rich is going to be taking pictures on the camera

0:07:04 > 0:07:06cos I can't do both. He's going to be using a fish-eye lens

0:07:06 > 0:07:09so he can take super-wide shots. You ready, Andre?

0:07:09 > 0:07:10I'm ready!

0:07:13 > 0:07:15Are you happy and comfortable, Andre?

0:07:15 > 0:07:17- Yes.- Are you ready to shred? - Let's do this!

0:07:17 > 0:07:20HE GRUNTS

0:07:20 > 0:07:23We're going to move Andre along each time we take a picture or a frame.

0:07:25 > 0:07:28This way, when all the frames are played together, it'll

0:07:28 > 0:07:30look like I'm skating on Andre.

0:07:30 > 0:07:34Now this kind of thing isn't very difficult so I want to work out

0:07:34 > 0:07:37a cool skateboarding ninja stunt that we can do instead.

0:07:37 > 0:07:41'Ninja move number three. Plan out your skateboarding stunt.'

0:07:41 > 0:07:43To create a cool skateboarding stunt,

0:07:43 > 0:07:45well, it will involve Andre flying through the air.

0:07:45 > 0:07:47Can you fly through the air, buddy?

0:07:47 > 0:07:49I don't think so.

0:07:49 > 0:07:53To do this we're going to be using chromakey - or green screen - to

0:07:53 > 0:07:56hold us in the air while the frame is recorded.

0:07:58 > 0:08:00So now we know what we're going to do, we need to get on with

0:08:00 > 0:08:02it. Cut to time-lapse.

0:08:02 > 0:08:05'Remember, this kind of animation can be tricky so you might need

0:08:05 > 0:08:07'some extra help and also...'

0:08:07 > 0:08:11Animation's thirsty work so make sure you take plenty of breaks.

0:08:11 > 0:08:13CLINK

0:08:16 > 0:08:20OK, we've got all the shots so it's time to do some editing.

0:08:20 > 0:08:23'There's loads of free editing apps, like I'm using, available

0:08:23 > 0:08:25'online for your PC or tablet.'

0:08:27 > 0:08:30OK, so I've taken out the green boxes, I've added some sound

0:08:30 > 0:08:34effects, and I think it's time to take a look at our mini masterpiece.

0:08:34 > 0:08:36- You ready, Andre?- Let's do it.

0:08:39 > 0:08:41Oh, it looks amazing.

0:08:44 > 0:08:45Look at my legs!

0:08:48 > 0:08:49BOTH: Oh!

0:08:50 > 0:08:52BOTH: Oh!

0:08:52 > 0:08:53BOTH: Oh!

0:08:53 > 0:08:55Kick was so rad.

0:08:56 > 0:08:58- That is good.- It is good.

0:08:59 > 0:09:03Well, seeing as I'm here, I might as well set up the ninja board and go

0:09:03 > 0:09:04for a shred.

0:09:13 > 0:09:17'So next time you're feeling bored, try turning your mate into one.

0:09:17 > 0:09:19'Gnarly to the max!'

0:09:28 > 0:09:30Here in Bristol, we have a hot-air balloon festival,

0:09:30 > 0:09:33and I was thinking it'll be a good place to search for Mr Chicken.

0:09:33 > 0:09:35CLUCKING

0:09:36 > 0:09:39It also gave me an idea for an awesome balloon picture.

0:09:41 > 0:09:46'The Art Ninja air balloon cell picture with awesome animation.'

0:09:46 > 0:09:49What I'm going to use is just a sheet of cardboard.

0:09:49 > 0:09:52And I'm going to draw a border around it

0:09:52 > 0:09:54which is about the width of a ruler.

0:09:58 > 0:10:02Right, I'm going to cut out the middle bit so I'm left with a frame.

0:10:02 > 0:10:05'Be careful with scissors, they can be sharp.'

0:10:06 > 0:10:10You're going to need two of these so I'll just ninja myself another one.

0:10:10 > 0:10:13Now, grab yourself some clingfilm and a glue stick

0:10:13 > 0:10:17and give the frame a generous portion of glue.

0:10:21 > 0:10:24Looks like enough. OK, now the tricky bit.

0:10:24 > 0:10:27Roll it out, over your frame.

0:10:30 > 0:10:34OK, now cos we used loads of glue, it means we can stretch it

0:10:34 > 0:10:39out across this frame without it suddenly sticking...

0:10:39 > 0:10:41completely.

0:10:41 > 0:10:42Look at that, nice and taut.

0:10:44 > 0:10:47Now we want to put another good portion of glue on the other

0:10:47 > 0:10:48side of the frame.

0:10:50 > 0:10:54Now sandwich the clingfilm between the two frames.

0:10:54 > 0:10:56Like that.

0:10:56 > 0:10:58Stretch it around like this, just to make sure it's nice

0:10:58 > 0:11:01and tight. And there we are, your first frame...

0:11:02 > 0:11:04..ready for drawing on.

0:11:04 > 0:11:06Now this isn't a canvas, this is a cell.

0:11:06 > 0:11:08It's what animators use to draw on.

0:11:08 > 0:11:11Rather than drawing straight onto it, I've drawn a little

0:11:11 > 0:11:14image first as a guide so that I don't muck it up

0:11:14 > 0:11:16and have to make my cell again.

0:11:17 > 0:11:20'Now I'm just going to trace the guide onto the cell.

0:11:20 > 0:11:23'I'm using a permanent marker to do this.'

0:11:28 > 0:11:30Lot of seagulls in Bristol.

0:11:30 > 0:11:33Great. Now I can paint it.

0:11:33 > 0:11:36'I'm putting yellow paper under the cell so that when I paint it,

0:11:36 > 0:11:38'I can see it more easily.'

0:11:38 > 0:11:39There we are.

0:11:41 > 0:11:44What I'm using here is acrylic paint,

0:11:44 > 0:11:46which is pretty happy to

0:11:46 > 0:11:48go on anything.

0:11:51 > 0:11:52The great thing about this,

0:11:52 > 0:11:55using cells, is that you could layer up a picture.

0:11:55 > 0:11:57You create a foreground and background,

0:11:57 > 0:11:59and if you were animating,

0:11:59 > 0:12:02it meant you didn't have to redraw everything over and over again.

0:12:02 > 0:12:06So what I've done here is drawn a lovely foreground.

0:12:06 > 0:12:10So this is a box made up of two of the frames, one at the front

0:12:10 > 0:12:13and one at the back, and I wrapped a piece of cardboard

0:12:13 > 0:12:15around three of the sides but left one of them

0:12:15 > 0:12:18open, cos that's where we're going to slide in our other cells.

0:12:20 > 0:12:23And if we just slide...my frame inside...

0:12:25 > 0:12:26Look at that!

0:12:26 > 0:12:28So, hot-air balloon over the lovely, rolling hills.

0:12:28 > 0:12:30But it feels like it's in a bit of a void,

0:12:30 > 0:12:33it needs some background.

0:12:33 > 0:12:35And I've painted some white

0:12:35 > 0:12:37clouds on a blue piece of paper,

0:12:37 > 0:12:40and I've put sticky tacks on the corner.

0:12:40 > 0:12:44So when I stick it to the back, if I ever want to change the weather,

0:12:44 > 0:12:45I can.

0:12:45 > 0:12:50And there we are. Look how beautiful that is. It gives it real depth.

0:12:50 > 0:12:53Now this piece of art has a trick up its sleeve.

0:12:53 > 0:12:55So I've drawn some other frames,

0:12:55 > 0:12:58and we can see here how they work, sort of one after the other.

0:12:58 > 0:13:01So I'm just going to grab my tablet.

0:13:01 > 0:13:03I've got on it some animation software.

0:13:03 > 0:13:07Right, so my first frame's in place. I'll just go for a frame.

0:13:08 > 0:13:12Nice. Swap out my frame to the next one.

0:13:16 > 0:13:19So on each of these frames the bird,

0:13:19 > 0:13:22he's moved just a tiny amount towards the balloon.

0:13:24 > 0:13:26Ooh, now he's bumped into it.

0:13:28 > 0:13:31Cool. Let's have a little look at it.

0:13:32 > 0:13:36'The air balloon cell picture. Why don't you try it yourself?'

0:13:38 > 0:13:40I wish I could fly up high in the sky.

0:13:40 > 0:13:43Looking down like a bird. Oh, I can imagine it now.

0:13:44 > 0:13:48PHONE RINGS

0:13:48 > 0:13:49BEEP

0:13:49 > 0:13:51'Hi, Ricky, it's your mum.

0:13:51 > 0:13:52'Bet you can't get to the phone

0:13:52 > 0:13:55'cos you're flying by the seat of your pants again.

0:13:55 > 0:13:58'Anyway, this is a quick call to say it's chicken Kiev mini

0:13:58 > 0:14:01'bites for tea, if you want to come round.'

0:14:01 > 0:14:04A bit insensitive. I was just thinking of Mr Chicken.

0:14:04 > 0:14:07'Also, I wanted to say what else we've got coming up.

0:14:07 > 0:14:10'You'll be making a superhero with a straw, learning how to make

0:14:10 > 0:14:15'jelly worms...and you'll be forming a collage with your biggest fan.

0:14:15 > 0:14:17'Bye!'

0:14:17 > 0:14:19Wow. I better get on with it.

0:14:19 > 0:14:21This art won't make itself.

0:14:21 > 0:14:23What to do first?

0:14:23 > 0:14:25- Ricky, Ricky.- Ricky, Ricky.

0:14:25 > 0:14:26What can I do for you, guys?

0:14:26 > 0:14:29BOTH: Can you make something with a bike pump?

0:14:29 > 0:14:31Um, not that today.

0:14:31 > 0:14:32Oh.

0:14:32 > 0:14:36- ALL:- Ricky, what can you make with this foot stool?

0:14:36 > 0:14:39A footstool? Have to put my foot down on that one.

0:14:39 > 0:14:43Ricky, what can you do with these?

0:14:43 > 0:14:46How about this guy? Yeah, I pick you.

0:14:46 > 0:14:49Yes! Yes!

0:14:49 > 0:14:51- What's your name, buddy?- I'm Cory.

0:14:51 > 0:14:54- Hi, Cory. Where are you from? - I'm from Cardiff.

0:14:54 > 0:14:57Cardiff, yeah. So what have you got for me today?

0:14:57 > 0:15:00- Can you make some art with straws? - Make something with straws?

0:15:00 > 0:15:03I can do better than that. I can make you a cartoon superhero.

0:15:03 > 0:15:05I'll just get my bits.

0:15:05 > 0:15:06Here we go.

0:15:06 > 0:15:10Got myself some Sellotape, some paper, some card,

0:15:10 > 0:15:15coloured pens and scissors and, of course, special straw.

0:15:15 > 0:15:18What I'm going to do to begin with is I'm going to roll the paper

0:15:18 > 0:15:23round the end of the straw just to get a tube.

0:15:23 > 0:15:26There we go. Going to sticky-tape that together.

0:15:29 > 0:15:30There we are.

0:15:30 > 0:15:33Now I'm going to fold over the end and then take that down.

0:15:39 > 0:15:41Put that to one side.

0:15:41 > 0:15:43Now I'm going to draw myself a superhero.

0:15:43 > 0:15:47- What superpowers would you have, Cory?- Super strength.

0:15:47 > 0:15:50Super strength? Nice one.

0:15:50 > 0:15:51Good choice.

0:15:52 > 0:15:55This is my superhero. I'd love to see your design

0:15:55 > 0:15:57for super strongman.

0:15:57 > 0:16:00Why do superheroes always wear their pants over their trousers?

0:16:00 > 0:16:02I think it's just the fashion.

0:16:02 > 0:16:07The legs, there we go, and the cape.

0:16:07 > 0:16:10And I'm going to put a little emblem in the middle.

0:16:10 > 0:16:12I think he's going to be called Rad Man.

0:16:16 > 0:16:18Six-pack.

0:16:18 > 0:16:21Red, blue and yellow are good hero colours, aren't they?

0:16:21 > 0:16:22Let's get colouring him in.

0:16:24 > 0:16:28When I was younger, I had to put up with cheaper superheroes

0:16:28 > 0:16:31such as Budget Boy.

0:16:31 > 0:16:34His special power was getting money off things.

0:16:36 > 0:16:40But don't worry, this superhero isn't going to be cheap,

0:16:40 > 0:16:42he's going to be top of the range.

0:16:42 > 0:16:44What colour should his bottoms be?

0:16:44 > 0:16:47- Um, blue.- Sounds good.

0:16:52 > 0:16:55There we go. What colour should his pants be?

0:16:57 > 0:16:59Um, black maybe?

0:16:59 > 0:17:00Black, yeah. Black pants.

0:17:04 > 0:17:06When you have a go, you can mix up the colours.

0:17:06 > 0:17:08- Shall I give him a yellow cape? - Yes.

0:17:08 > 0:17:10Yeah. Here, we can see him coming then.

0:17:13 > 0:17:16And then I'm going to do the Rad bit here.

0:17:18 > 0:17:20Make some yellow booties.

0:17:21 > 0:17:24And I think I'm going to do his face pink,

0:17:24 > 0:17:28cos I'd be pretty embarrassed if I had my pants on over my trousers.

0:17:30 > 0:17:31OK, I'm going to cut that out.

0:17:34 > 0:17:37Now his legs.

0:17:37 > 0:17:39Go round here and his hands and his head.

0:17:39 > 0:17:41There we go.

0:17:41 > 0:17:45Now I'm going to stick my little tube that I made to his back.

0:17:45 > 0:17:47More sticky tape.

0:17:50 > 0:17:54There we go. Put the straw in.

0:17:54 > 0:17:57- Right. Do you want to see him? - Yep.

0:17:59 > 0:18:02- What do you think?- That's awesome!

0:18:02 > 0:18:07He looks good, doesn't he? And then check this out.

0:18:14 > 0:18:16- Wow.- What do you think of it?

0:18:16 > 0:18:20It's super! I'll give it 110%.

0:18:20 > 0:18:23110%? That's not even possible.

0:18:23 > 0:18:26I reckon you could make your hero even more super.

0:18:26 > 0:18:30- Yep.- Thanks very much, Cory. Have a good day, mate. Bye-bye.

0:18:30 > 0:18:32Bye, Ricky.

0:18:32 > 0:18:37Here's a quick art tip. How to add speech to your cartoon doodles.

0:18:37 > 0:18:39So, the first stage is working out what your characters

0:18:39 > 0:18:41are going to say and then leaving space,

0:18:41 > 0:18:44so you can write it in afterwards. So I've drawn these guys here.

0:18:44 > 0:18:47Little one of me getting my ninja on and I've left space at the top

0:18:47 > 0:18:49and down here where I want to put it.

0:18:49 > 0:18:51When I come to actually write the text, I'm going to do

0:18:51 > 0:18:55it in capitals, so it's nice and bold and easy to read.

0:18:56 > 0:18:57Time to get my ninja on.

0:18:58 > 0:19:01And over here I'm going to write "art ninja".

0:19:01 > 0:19:04The next stage is to draw a circle round your text

0:19:04 > 0:19:06and that just borders it off nicely

0:19:06 > 0:19:09and then a little tail to indicate who's speaking.

0:19:09 > 0:19:11Now, on this one over here, I'm shouting,

0:19:11 > 0:19:14so I'm going to use a zigzag border to give it more energy.

0:19:17 > 0:19:20And finally, you could enhance your drawings by using text to

0:19:20 > 0:19:22create sound effects.

0:19:22 > 0:19:24So I'm going to put a nice big Ka-pow up here.

0:19:26 > 0:19:29In this one, I'm using bubble writing. There we go.

0:19:32 > 0:19:33There's a quick art tip.

0:19:47 > 0:19:52Hey, you there. Birds fly in the sky. But why?

0:19:54 > 0:19:56Because they eat worms from the earth.

0:19:56 > 0:20:00Look at this guy. Check out how orange his face is.

0:20:00 > 0:20:04- But you can't eat worms. Can you? - Nope.

0:20:04 > 0:20:10Well, now you can, with new jelly worms.

0:20:10 > 0:20:13Here's how you make them. You need a jug.

0:20:15 > 0:20:17Some red jelly.

0:20:17 > 0:20:20Some orange jelly.

0:20:21 > 0:20:23And some gelatine.

0:20:25 > 0:20:27Then add hot water.

0:20:28 > 0:20:30Be careful or get an adult to help.

0:20:33 > 0:20:36Now, add cold water. Don't drink it.

0:20:40 > 0:20:44You need cream. Smells good.

0:20:44 > 0:20:46In it goes, just a bit.

0:20:46 > 0:20:48Use a spoon to stir your mixture.

0:20:50 > 0:20:53This should melt the jelly until it looks like this.

0:20:54 > 0:20:57Next get some bendy straws.

0:20:58 > 0:21:03Making sure the bendy end faces downwards, put them in a tall glass.

0:21:05 > 0:21:09Pour the mixture into the glass around the straws,

0:21:09 > 0:21:10nearly to the top.

0:21:13 > 0:21:16Mmm. Spread the straws out.

0:21:17 > 0:21:21Then leave them in the fridge for seven hours to allow the

0:21:21 > 0:21:22mixture to set.

0:21:23 > 0:21:26Grab a plate, remove a straw.

0:21:29 > 0:21:33Give it a squeeze like this and hey presto, a jelly worm.

0:21:33 > 0:21:35Oh.

0:21:35 > 0:21:39All you need do now is squeeze it onto a plate and repeat for

0:21:39 > 0:21:41as many straws as you have filled.

0:21:49 > 0:21:53Jelly worms. Stored in a fridge near you.

0:21:53 > 0:21:55Mm, might have to try some of those.

0:21:58 > 0:22:03Oh, this interview with Beaktoria Peckham's really cracking me up.

0:22:03 > 0:22:06Do you know, I'd like to think that somewhere, right now,

0:22:06 > 0:22:08Mr Chicken is reading this too.

0:22:10 > 0:22:13Oh, I'd love to find him.

0:22:15 > 0:22:17I've got an idea.

0:22:17 > 0:22:19Hi, Michelle, I've got a plan.

0:22:19 > 0:22:21I'm going to fly and meet Mr Chicken.

0:22:21 > 0:22:24No, no, no, don't hang up, I'm serious.

0:22:24 > 0:22:27Can you meet me at the warehouse? And bring a big fan.

0:22:38 > 0:22:42Ninja skills. Hey, Mich. Did you bring that fan I asked you for?

0:22:42 > 0:22:45I'm your fan, Ricky. Go, Ricky!

0:22:45 > 0:22:48- Give me an R, give me an I... - Michelle, everybody.

0:22:48 > 0:22:51Give me a C, give me a K. Go, Rick...

0:22:51 > 0:22:54Can I just interrupt you there? What I need is wind.

0:22:54 > 0:22:57Oh, you've got more than enough of that already, mate.

0:22:57 > 0:22:59All right. Well, what's that thing for then?

0:22:59 > 0:23:02- Oh, the fan, fan, you should have said.- That's our fan, fan.

0:23:02 > 0:23:03The fan, fan.

0:23:03 > 0:23:07What I want to do is make a collage by blowing things through that fan.

0:23:07 > 0:23:09If only we had some feathers.

0:23:09 > 0:23:11If only we had some pillows.

0:23:13 > 0:23:18- En garde. - Are you being serious?- You bet I am.

0:23:25 > 0:23:28I think we've got enough feathers now, so let's get our ninja on.

0:23:33 > 0:23:36- Art ninja.- Art ninja.

0:23:36 > 0:23:38Strike a pose.

0:23:41 > 0:23:44Right, so what we're going to be doing is making a massive

0:23:44 > 0:23:46collage on this board here

0:23:46 > 0:23:50and using this fan to blow all of our cool stuff against it.

0:23:50 > 0:23:53But first, we need a guide, so we know where we're aiming for,

0:23:53 > 0:23:55and we're going to do that by using some charcoal.

0:23:55 > 0:23:57- Let's do some art. - Let's do it.

0:23:59 > 0:24:01Are you going to give me any sort of clue as to what this is?

0:24:01 > 0:24:05It has something to do with feathers.

0:24:05 > 0:24:07OK. Right, some form of bird.

0:24:07 > 0:24:09Or maybe just a really big pillow.

0:24:11 > 0:24:14Now it's time for us to start gluing.

0:24:15 > 0:24:17Smooth.

0:24:17 > 0:24:21We first need to start gluing here, along here

0:24:21 > 0:24:24and around the belly here.

0:24:24 > 0:24:25OK. Why these sections?

0:24:25 > 0:24:27This is going to be all the same colour,

0:24:27 > 0:24:29so we need to do those bits first.

0:24:29 > 0:24:32I see. OK.

0:24:33 > 0:24:35Right, and it's all nice and sticky.

0:24:35 > 0:24:37It's time to start playing with my number one fan.

0:24:37 > 0:24:40- This is the exciting bit, isn't it? - It is.

0:24:40 > 0:24:41OK, so what colour are we going for?

0:24:41 > 0:24:44We're going for this nice dark blue colour.

0:24:44 > 0:24:46Michelle, start the fans, please.

0:24:46 > 0:24:49Yes!

0:24:49 > 0:24:52More, more, more. Whoa!

0:24:53 > 0:24:55Stop it. Turn it off.

0:24:58 > 0:25:02Wow! Right, let's start gluing this bit and this bit.

0:25:02 > 0:25:05- This is really fun.- It's a blast.

0:25:05 > 0:25:08- Give me light blue, Michelle. - Coming up.- Fire up the fan.

0:25:12 > 0:25:13Yeah!

0:25:15 > 0:25:17This lower bit's going to be red.

0:25:21 > 0:25:23Whoa!

0:25:23 > 0:25:25OK, Michelle, let's go for a different texture this time.

0:25:25 > 0:25:29- Sawdust.- Ooh, cool. - Fan, fan, fan.

0:25:36 > 0:25:40- Whoa! Oh, yes. It looks brilliant. - That's ace.

0:25:40 > 0:25:41We're not done yet.

0:25:41 > 0:25:44We need more feathers and some plastic balls.

0:25:44 > 0:25:46Fan!

0:25:47 > 0:25:54- Yeah!- Whoa!- Whoa!

0:25:56 > 0:25:59- Oh, it looks brilliant. - It really does.

0:25:59 > 0:26:04It just needs one final finishing touch. A little bit of texture...

0:26:04 > 0:26:06..on its beak.

0:26:09 > 0:26:11Perfect.

0:26:17 > 0:26:20That looks awesome.

0:26:20 > 0:26:22- Not bad for a wing-it job. - Oh, good one.

0:26:24 > 0:26:28- Ricky, what are you doing? - I must find Mr Chicken.

0:26:30 > 0:26:32Mr Chicken?

0:26:38 > 0:26:42I'm coming, Mr Chicken. Mr Chicken?

0:26:44 > 0:26:47You just wait there, Mr Chicken, I'm coming for you.

0:26:57 > 0:26:59I kind of flew around the world.

0:26:59 > 0:27:02Well, that's what I'm going to lead my mates to believe

0:27:02 > 0:27:04with this e-mail.

0:27:04 > 0:27:07But still no Mr Chicken.

0:27:07 > 0:27:10Anyway, it's time for bed.

0:27:10 > 0:27:16Well, I may not have found my old pal, but today has taught me

0:27:16 > 0:27:18a valuable Art Ninja lesson.

0:27:18 > 0:27:22If you want to fly like a bird man you'll need glue,

0:27:22 > 0:27:24sand and a giant fan.

0:27:24 > 0:27:26PHONE BUZZES

0:27:26 > 0:27:28Who could that be at this time of night?

0:27:29 > 0:27:32It's an e-postcard from Mr Chicken.

0:27:32 > 0:27:33Hey, it's turned out all right.

0:27:33 > 0:27:35He's on holiday in Mississippi, Tennessee

0:27:35 > 0:27:38and Kentucky, the chicken's favourite states.

0:27:44 > 0:27:47Hang on? Kentucky?
