0:00:03 > 0:00:05I'm Ricky. I live in Bristol.

0:00:05 > 0:00:08By day, I work as an animator,

0:00:08 > 0:00:10which is lucky, because I love art.

0:00:10 > 0:00:13I live for art. I even dream of art!

0:00:13 > 0:00:15I draw.

0:00:15 > 0:00:18I paint.

0:00:18 > 0:00:21I make things.

0:00:21 > 0:00:22I hang out with my mates -

0:00:22 > 0:00:26- Gavin, Michelle and Sarah. - SARAH SCREAMS

0:00:26 > 0:00:29Most importantly, I make ninja moves.

0:00:29 > 0:00:31Some people call me the...

0:00:31 > 0:00:34Art Ninja.

0:00:34 > 0:00:37Today, I'll show you how to make a new furry friend

0:00:37 > 0:00:40in the shape of a goblin puppet,

0:00:40 > 0:00:44some handy tips for a Jackson Pollock-inspired bookend,

0:00:44 > 0:00:48and it's time to box clever with a giant wall of jungle graffiti,

0:00:48 > 0:00:51- because today it's... - GONG CRASHES

0:00:54 > 0:00:57ALARM BEEPS

0:01:00 > 0:01:02It's a new day.

0:01:02 > 0:01:04Time to get my ninja on.

0:01:06 > 0:01:08And my clothes.

0:01:29 > 0:01:32Today, I'm feeling very friendly.

0:01:32 > 0:01:35I'm going to invite my art buddies over.

0:01:35 > 0:01:37I know, I'll give Sarah a call.

0:01:37 > 0:01:40Sorry, I'm a bit busy today, Ricky. What about Andre?

0:01:40 > 0:01:43- PHONE BEEPS - Hey, that's him now.

0:01:43 > 0:01:46Oh. He's off doing ollies in Holland.

0:01:46 > 0:01:48I can always try my dad - I'll give him a call.

0:01:48 > 0:01:49DIAL TONES

0:01:49 > 0:01:51Hey, Dad.

0:01:51 > 0:01:53I was wondering if you...

0:01:53 > 0:01:55OK, bye.

0:01:55 > 0:01:58I'm starting to feel really alone today. There's no-one around.

0:01:58 > 0:02:01WISTFUL VIOLIN MUSIC PLAYS

0:02:01 > 0:02:03Gav, can you cut that out please?

0:02:03 > 0:02:04Go and practise somewhere else.

0:02:04 > 0:02:06I thought you were lonely?

0:02:08 > 0:02:10I'm not THAT lonely.

0:02:10 > 0:02:12I'll go and riff somewhere else, then.

0:02:13 > 0:02:16Gav's great, but not when he's practising.

0:02:16 > 0:02:19I'm going to make a less noisy, more cuddly companion -

0:02:19 > 0:02:20a goblin puppet.

0:02:20 > 0:02:22The art ninja goblin puppet -

0:02:22 > 0:02:25a companion that's furry good.

0:02:25 > 0:02:28So, I've got myself some sponges

0:02:28 > 0:02:30and I'm going to cut this big one here

0:02:30 > 0:02:32just along where the curve meets the straight line.

0:02:32 > 0:02:35'This is for his head and jaw.'

0:02:35 > 0:02:37And these other ones, just normal washing up sponges.

0:02:37 > 0:02:40Where these two grooves are, cut along there.

0:02:41 > 0:02:44And I'm going to cut along this strip here,

0:02:44 > 0:02:45and then cut them in half.

0:02:45 > 0:02:48And these are going to make the eyebrows of my goblin.

0:02:48 > 0:02:52Start cutting some triangles into that bit that's left.

0:02:52 > 0:02:54'Take care with sharp scissors.'

0:02:54 > 0:02:57These two, with the line across the tip, are going to be the ears.

0:02:57 > 0:03:01And this one here, with the overhang, is going to be the nose.

0:03:01 > 0:03:04'These pieces will be the goblins horns.'

0:03:04 > 0:03:06I want the horns to have a bit of texture, a bit of twist,

0:03:06 > 0:03:10so I'm going to use a bit of string, tie a knot around the top,

0:03:10 > 0:03:12and then I'm just going to wrap it around.

0:03:13 > 0:03:15Snip off the excess

0:03:15 > 0:03:18and I'm going to stick it in place with some strong glue.

0:03:18 > 0:03:19And we do the same with the other one

0:03:19 > 0:03:22to create that twisted horn texture.

0:03:23 > 0:03:27Now, I'm going to glue on all the little bits I've just cut out,

0:03:27 > 0:03:28starting with the nose.

0:03:28 > 0:03:32'You can cut out any shapes you like to customise your goblin.'

0:03:32 > 0:03:34The ears on, the horns on.

0:03:34 > 0:03:36If they don't stick right away,

0:03:36 > 0:03:38just hold them in place for a few seconds.

0:03:38 > 0:03:40Now, onto the eyebrows.

0:03:40 > 0:03:42So, now you need to decide is he going to be a happy goblin,

0:03:42 > 0:03:45by maybe having them up like this?

0:03:45 > 0:03:48Or maybe a more mean and nasty goblin,

0:03:48 > 0:03:49and having them down like that?

0:03:49 > 0:03:53I'm trying to make a friend, so I'm going to make mine nice and happy.

0:03:55 > 0:03:57Looking good so far.

0:03:57 > 0:04:00Now I'm going to paint him a nice goblin green.

0:04:00 > 0:04:03'When painting sponges, you'll need loads of paint,

0:04:03 > 0:04:05'because they're really absorbent.'

0:04:05 > 0:04:08And dabbing seems to work better than a long brush stroke.

0:04:08 > 0:04:11'Don't forget to put some paper down if you're doing this at home.'

0:04:12 > 0:04:14I'm going to do the horns yellow.

0:04:16 > 0:04:18Right, I'm just going to put that to one side to dry,

0:04:18 > 0:04:20while I draw the inside of a goblin mouth.

0:04:22 > 0:04:24To paint the mouth, add white to the colours

0:04:24 > 0:04:26to make them a little bit lighter.

0:04:29 > 0:04:31I think the tongue should have some nice yellow spots on it.

0:04:32 > 0:04:34And now a nice green goblin tongue.

0:04:37 > 0:04:39There we go, I'm going to paint all around the outside

0:04:39 > 0:04:41and this little space here black.

0:04:43 > 0:04:46Right, if you're doing this at home, you'll need to wait for that to dry.

0:04:46 > 0:04:48But I wait for nothing, because I'm the Art Ninja.

0:04:48 > 0:04:50There we go, nice and dry.

0:04:50 > 0:04:53'Using black pen, add an outline to your mouth

0:04:53 > 0:04:54'to make the colours pop out.'

0:04:58 > 0:05:00'This card is your puppet's mouth

0:05:00 > 0:05:02'and you'll operate this to make him speak.'

0:05:04 > 0:05:08We're going to glue this on the inside of the sponges here,

0:05:08 > 0:05:10making sure the tongue is at the bottom.

0:05:10 > 0:05:13Fold it like that and we're going to put glue on this side, as well.

0:05:16 > 0:05:19Can you see how the mouth is going to open and close now?

0:05:19 > 0:05:22To give you more control, put a cardboard strip over the back,

0:05:22 > 0:05:25so that when you open your hand, the top of the mouth comes with it.

0:05:25 > 0:05:27'Attach it securely with sticky tape.'

0:05:31 > 0:05:34But, right now, he can't see,

0:05:34 > 0:05:37so I'm going to add some eyes using a ping pong ball.

0:05:37 > 0:05:40Now you need to cut it in half and that can be quite tricky,

0:05:40 > 0:05:42so get an adult to help you.

0:05:42 > 0:05:44I don't need any help, I'm a ninja.

0:05:45 > 0:05:48Now I'm just going to draw some nice black pupils.

0:05:49 > 0:05:53'Stick the eyes to the goblin's face, again using some strong glue.'

0:05:53 > 0:05:55Rar, rar, rar.

0:05:55 > 0:05:56Some teeth with some cardboard.

0:05:56 > 0:06:01I cut this already. And I'm going to give him an underbite.

0:06:01 > 0:06:03Nice bit of character.

0:06:03 > 0:06:05But he's a puppet and you can see my hand,

0:06:05 > 0:06:08so I'm going to give him a lovely furry hide.

0:06:08 > 0:06:11And I've got some fun fur here.

0:06:11 > 0:06:14I've cut out these shapes - this nice long strip is for the body

0:06:14 > 0:06:16and this bit is going to go around the head.

0:06:16 > 0:06:20It's easier to put glue onto the sponge than it is to the fur.

0:06:20 > 0:06:22I'm going to push the fur

0:06:22 > 0:06:24on like that.

0:06:25 > 0:06:29Glue these edges along the edge of the cardboard.

0:06:29 > 0:06:31'Holding the fur in place will help it stick.'

0:06:33 > 0:06:35'For the second piece of fur -

0:06:35 > 0:06:37'glue around the back of the goblin's head

0:06:37 > 0:06:39'before gently sticking the fur headpiece to it,

0:06:40 > 0:06:45'and then glue together the body material at the back.'

0:06:45 > 0:06:47And then I'm going to stick the edges here

0:06:47 > 0:06:49to the body material, too.

0:06:49 > 0:06:52I've got some arms here that I've made

0:06:52 > 0:06:54from tubes of the same material and some hands.

0:06:54 > 0:06:56'Simply glue them in place.'

0:06:58 > 0:07:02'And, as a final touch to his chin, paint on some warts.

0:07:02 > 0:07:04'He is a goblin after all!'

0:07:04 > 0:07:07Let's make it so he can control his arms.

0:07:07 > 0:07:09For that, we're going to use two kebab skewers.

0:07:09 > 0:07:12Going to stick one in this arm, one in the other.

0:07:12 > 0:07:14Just push it into the sponge.

0:07:19 > 0:07:21Hello, Ricky.

0:07:21 > 0:07:23What a beautiful goblin puppet.

0:07:23 > 0:07:25I think I'll call him Brian.

0:07:26 > 0:07:28Make yourself comfortable.

0:07:28 > 0:07:30'The goblin puppet.

0:07:30 > 0:07:32'Why don't you bring one to life yourself?'

0:07:33 > 0:07:35BEEP

0:07:35 > 0:07:37Hm. What was that?

0:07:37 > 0:07:41Mm, it's an e-mail titled How To Care For Your Goblin Puppet.

0:07:41 > 0:07:44Bit strange, but I'd better read it.

0:07:44 > 0:07:46'How to care for your goblin puppet.

0:07:46 > 0:07:49'Do NOT get paint on it at any cost.

0:07:49 > 0:07:53'Repeat - once made, do NOT get paint on it.'

0:07:53 > 0:07:54Are you still here?

0:07:54 > 0:07:56Oh, yeah, sorry. Just off out.

0:07:57 > 0:07:59So, I can't get paint on the goblin.

0:07:59 > 0:08:00I wonder why.

0:08:01 > 0:08:03That picture changes every time I look at it.

0:08:04 > 0:08:06'This is Bristol Harbour -

0:08:06 > 0:08:09'an amazing place full of history.

0:08:09 > 0:08:12'Many spectacular sea vessels were built and launched here.

0:08:12 > 0:08:14SHIP HORN BLARES

0:08:14 > 0:08:15'Oh. Excuse me.

0:08:15 > 0:08:17'Hey, here's one now.'

0:08:19 > 0:08:22'Hey, my mistake. It's just an animation.

0:08:22 > 0:08:24'An awesome one.

0:08:24 > 0:08:26'All you need is stiff plastic or acetate,

0:08:26 > 0:08:28'some pens that write on acetate

0:08:28 > 0:08:30'and a phone or tablet.

0:08:30 > 0:08:32'Three of me.'

0:08:32 > 0:08:34There's some really good animation apps you can find online -

0:08:34 > 0:08:36have a little look around, find one you like,

0:08:36 > 0:08:39find one that's highly rated and just get used to one

0:08:39 > 0:08:40and make it your thing.

0:08:40 > 0:08:42My phone's really red, so red.

0:08:42 > 0:08:46'Here's how to work it in just three ninja moves.

0:08:46 > 0:08:47'Ninja move number one -'

0:08:47 > 0:08:49draw your frames on the acetate.

0:08:49 > 0:08:52So, I'm doing a submarine.

0:08:52 > 0:08:54Look over at the background,

0:08:54 > 0:08:57just so you can line up where your object's going to appear.

0:08:57 > 0:09:00And then a good thing to do is to colour it in in white,

0:09:00 > 0:09:04because then it's opaque and really sticks up against the background.

0:09:04 > 0:09:05'Ninja move number two -'

0:09:05 > 0:09:07I've got lots of pieces of acetate.

0:09:07 > 0:09:10Now, I'm not going to use a different piece of acetate

0:09:10 > 0:09:13for every picture, but I am going to use two separate ones.

0:09:13 > 0:09:15The reason we use a couple of bits is so you can use your old frame

0:09:15 > 0:09:18as a guide to start drawing the next one.

0:09:18 > 0:09:22# Pens, pens, pens Drawing on stuff with pens. #

0:09:22 > 0:09:24There we go. So, you can see the one from before.

0:09:26 > 0:09:28'Ninja move number three -'

0:09:28 > 0:09:30Get your phone out, line it up with the river

0:09:30 > 0:09:34or whatever you're using for it to interact with and take a snap.

0:09:34 > 0:09:36'Keep doing your ninja steps.

0:09:36 > 0:09:38'So, draw the frame of your animation on the acetate,

0:09:38 > 0:09:39'take a picture,

0:09:39 > 0:09:41'trace your next frame using the old one as a guide,

0:09:41 > 0:09:43'take another picture,

0:09:43 > 0:09:45'and repeat.

0:09:45 > 0:09:46'Keep doing your ninja steps

0:09:46 > 0:09:48'until all the frames of your animation are done.'

0:09:50 > 0:09:53Once you've taken all your frames, using your animation app,

0:09:53 > 0:09:56compile them into a movie.

0:09:56 > 0:09:57Compiling.

0:09:57 > 0:09:59Now I think it's time for the big reveal.

0:10:01 > 0:10:02Here comes the submarine.

0:10:02 > 0:10:05Here we go. It's made berth at Bristol Harbour.

0:10:05 > 0:10:08Hang on, what's this? Oh, a sea monster!

0:10:13 > 0:10:16I'd say that is a mini masterpiece.

0:10:17 > 0:10:19Have a go yourself.

0:10:19 > 0:10:20Get outside and see what you can do

0:10:20 > 0:10:23with your awesome acetate animation.

0:10:28 > 0:10:30Sometimes I do art so good,

0:10:30 > 0:10:33I have to give myself a round of applause.

0:10:33 > 0:10:36PHONE RINGS

0:10:36 > 0:10:40MESSAGE TONE BLEEPS PHONE: Hi, Ricky, it's Mum.

0:10:40 > 0:10:42Hope you're not showing off again.

0:10:42 > 0:10:45Just phoning to say don't forget to mention what's coming up.

0:10:45 > 0:10:48You get handy with the paintbrush.

0:10:48 > 0:10:51Be careful not to get globules on the goblin.

0:10:51 > 0:10:53Learn how to turn mops into flip-flops.

0:10:53 > 0:10:56And box cleaver with gigantic graffiti

0:10:56 > 0:10:58that gives a new meaning to guerrilla art.

0:10:58 > 0:11:01Also, I wanted to say, your dad's trying to fix the toilet,

0:11:01 > 0:11:03but it's sending him round the bend.

0:11:03 > 0:11:06Anyway, bye. MESSAGE TONE BLEEPS

0:11:06 > 0:11:08I bet he wishes someone would give him a hand.

0:11:08 > 0:11:11With a rubber glove on it.

0:11:11 > 0:11:13This gives me an idea.

0:11:13 > 0:11:15I'm going to make some bookends made with rubber gloves

0:11:15 > 0:11:18and decorated in the style of famous artist Jackson Pollock.

0:11:18 > 0:11:21'Here's a Jackson Pollock picture now.

0:11:21 > 0:11:24'He fixed his canvas to the floor or wall and, using a paintbrush,

0:11:24 > 0:11:25'he threw lines of paint on it.

0:11:25 > 0:11:28'This became known as action painting.'

0:11:28 > 0:11:30So, first, I'm going to make my canvas,

0:11:30 > 0:11:33and, in this case, that is a cast of a rubber glove.

0:11:33 > 0:11:35So, I'm going to start by drawing around a bowl

0:11:35 > 0:11:37on this piece of cardboard.

0:11:37 > 0:11:39You can use a mug, it's about the same size.

0:11:41 > 0:11:42Now I'm going to cut that out.

0:11:42 > 0:11:45To get my scissors in there, I'm going to make a hole first.

0:11:45 > 0:11:47'I'm using sticky tack underneath the card

0:11:47 > 0:11:51'to help push the pencil through. It makes it easier to cut out.'

0:11:57 > 0:12:00A nice big bucket, cardboard on top.

0:12:00 > 0:12:02And now here's the tricky bit.

0:12:02 > 0:12:04'I'm going to hang an old rubber glove through the hole.'

0:12:04 > 0:12:07And I'm going to attach it to the edge of this circle

0:12:07 > 0:12:08with some sticky tape.

0:12:08 > 0:12:10When I say some, I mean a lot,

0:12:10 > 0:12:13because this going to have to hold some weight.

0:12:13 > 0:12:16'As this is quite fiddly, you might need some help.

0:12:16 > 0:12:19'And I recommend working around one bit at a time.'

0:12:20 > 0:12:23'Rubber gloves tend to be powdery on the inside,

0:12:23 > 0:12:26'so wash them out first and it will help the tape stick.'

0:12:27 > 0:12:28Right, that's looking good.

0:12:28 > 0:12:31Now, I need to mix up some plaster of Paris.

0:12:31 > 0:12:32You'll need to follow the instructions

0:12:32 > 0:12:34on your plaster of Paris packet,

0:12:34 > 0:12:38but, as a guide, it's twice as much plaster to water

0:12:38 > 0:12:41and you always add the power to the water.

0:12:41 > 0:12:42Might be good to stick on an apron,

0:12:42 > 0:12:45because it does tend to go everywhere.

0:12:45 > 0:12:47Make sure you've stirred in all of the lumps.

0:12:47 > 0:12:49It's starting to thicken now.

0:12:49 > 0:12:52'Keep stirring until it is smooth and pourable.'

0:12:52 > 0:12:55And, when it's at that stage, you need to act pretty fast,

0:12:55 > 0:12:57because it starts to harden.

0:13:02 > 0:13:03Make sure all of it's in,

0:13:03 > 0:13:06and I've left a little bit of room at the top, as it expands.

0:13:06 > 0:13:10And flick the fingers to make sure all the bubbles are released,

0:13:10 > 0:13:14and this means you have a nice, solid, strong cast.

0:13:14 > 0:13:16If you're doing this at home, you'll need to wait for it to harden,

0:13:16 > 0:13:19but not me, I'm the Art Ninja.

0:13:21 > 0:13:23Nice and hard.

0:13:23 > 0:13:27'Remove the sticky tape to release the cast from the cardboard.'

0:13:27 > 0:13:28There we go.

0:13:28 > 0:13:30Now I need to carefully cut down the back of the glove

0:13:30 > 0:13:32to help get my cast out,

0:13:32 > 0:13:34because just pulling is likely to break it.

0:13:38 > 0:13:40Ay!

0:13:40 > 0:13:43Now I need to decorate it, so I need to get some action painting in.

0:13:48 > 0:13:51Now I'm going to flick it just like Jackson Pollock.

0:13:51 > 0:13:52Start with some yellow.

0:14:10 > 0:14:12If you're doing this at home...

0:14:12 > 0:14:14'You better put lots of paper down.'

0:14:15 > 0:14:16'Oh, it's Jackson Pollock!'

0:14:16 > 0:14:18You're doing it all wrong.

0:14:18 > 0:14:20When I did my action painting,

0:14:20 > 0:14:22I used to dance over the canvas,

0:14:22 > 0:14:25dripping and dribbling paint as I went.

0:14:25 > 0:14:27Go on, you should do it properly!

0:14:27 > 0:14:28I'll give it a go!

0:14:32 > 0:14:34That's more like it!

0:14:36 > 0:14:38I'll try a few ninja moves.

0:14:42 > 0:14:45SINISTER STRING MUSIC PLAYS

0:14:49 > 0:14:51Look at that!

0:14:53 > 0:14:55'You don't have to paint your bookend in the style of Pollock.'

0:14:55 > 0:14:57Here's another handy design.

0:15:00 > 0:15:03Oh, no, I've got paint everywhere.

0:15:03 > 0:15:05I've even got some on the goblin.

0:15:05 > 0:15:08I'm sure I remember something about not getting paint on it

0:15:08 > 0:15:10once it's made.

0:15:10 > 0:15:12'How to care for your goblin puppet.

0:15:12 > 0:15:17'Most importantly, do not get paint on it at any cost.

0:15:17 > 0:15:20'Repeat - once made, do not get paint on it.'

0:15:20 > 0:15:22Yeah, that's right.

0:15:22 > 0:15:24- Thanks.- 'You're welcome.'

0:15:25 > 0:15:28Well, it's only a little bit of paint.

0:15:28 > 0:15:30What's the worst that could happen?

0:15:38 > 0:15:40- ALL:- Ricky, Ricky, Ricky!

0:15:40 > 0:15:42Huh, friends are like buses,

0:15:42 > 0:15:44you want one and then three come along at once.

0:15:44 > 0:15:48What can you make with these old library cards?

0:15:48 > 0:15:50Mmm... Not today.

0:15:51 > 0:15:54Ricky, Ricky, Ricky!

0:15:54 > 0:15:55I think I'm going to pick you.

0:15:55 > 0:15:56Yay!

0:15:56 > 0:15:58So, what are your names, then?

0:15:58 > 0:16:00- I'm Bronny.- And I'm Flo.

0:16:00 > 0:16:01- BOTH:- We're twins.

0:16:01 > 0:16:04You don't say. So, where are you from?

0:16:04 > 0:16:05Brighton.

0:16:05 > 0:16:06Oh, lovely. I love Brighton.

0:16:06 > 0:16:08And what have you got for me to do art with today?

0:16:08 > 0:16:11Can you make a picture with chalk?

0:16:11 > 0:16:14Chalk? Hah. I love chalk.

0:16:14 > 0:16:16You can use chalk to do all sorts.

0:16:16 > 0:16:19I'm going to use mine to make some sand.

0:16:19 > 0:16:22In fact, I'm going to make a desert island picture.

0:16:22 > 0:16:24Need to get some paper.

0:16:24 > 0:16:26There we go, nice bit of blue paper.

0:16:26 > 0:16:29And I'm going to start by drawing a horizon line,

0:16:29 > 0:16:32and that's going to go right through the middle of the page here.

0:16:32 > 0:16:35A nice blue, because that's going to be the ocean.

0:16:35 > 0:16:38'A good technique is to use the side of the chalk to fill it in.'

0:16:39 > 0:16:41Do it like that.

0:16:41 > 0:16:42Maybe really thick at the top

0:16:42 > 0:16:45and then looser down the page.

0:16:45 > 0:16:47Going to smudge that a bit. 'With my finger.'

0:16:47 > 0:16:49Chalk is really good for smudging.

0:16:49 > 0:16:51Get it all over the place.

0:16:51 > 0:16:54And now I'm going to add a bit of yellow down here for the sand.

0:16:54 > 0:16:56'I'm showing you my version of a chalk picture

0:16:56 > 0:16:58'but you can always come up with your own.'

0:16:58 > 0:17:00I'm going to do some clouds up here.

0:17:02 > 0:17:05What kind of things do you think you find on a desert island beach?

0:17:05 > 0:17:07- BOTH:- Erm...

0:17:07 > 0:17:09Palm trees.

0:17:09 > 0:17:10That's right, palm trees.

0:17:10 > 0:17:13MUSIC: Gecko (Overdrive) by Oliver Heldens

0:17:22 > 0:17:25Do you want to have a look how it's looking so far?

0:17:25 > 0:17:26- BOTH:- Yes, please.

0:17:26 > 0:17:28How do you think it's coming along?

0:17:28 > 0:17:30Oh, that's really cool.

0:17:30 > 0:17:31Ah, you think it's cool now,

0:17:31 > 0:17:33you wait until it's got all the shading on it.

0:17:33 > 0:17:35Add a bit of green.

0:17:39 > 0:17:41Now, I've got trees in the foreground,

0:17:41 > 0:17:43but I haven't got much else going on,

0:17:43 > 0:17:46so I think we're going to put a little island in the distance.

0:17:50 > 0:17:52Pop the sun in now.

0:17:55 > 0:17:57Right, I'm going to add a couple of shadows in.

0:18:02 > 0:18:05But where there's shadows, there's also highlights,

0:18:05 > 0:18:08so I'm going to pop in a little bit of lighter green, too.

0:18:11 > 0:18:13Now, I've got a little bit of a void in the middle here.

0:18:13 > 0:18:15What shall I pop in there?

0:18:15 > 0:18:17- BOTH:- A boat. - That's a good idea.

0:18:24 > 0:18:26A little trick here -

0:18:26 > 0:18:28just underneath where our cliffs

0:18:28 > 0:18:30and our boat touch the water,

0:18:30 > 0:18:32I'm going to add a little bit of purple, because it creates the idea

0:18:32 > 0:18:36of, sort of, like, a shadow, sort of, deep water next to it.

0:18:37 > 0:18:39OK, that's coming together.

0:18:39 > 0:18:41I might add just a couple of highlights.

0:18:43 > 0:18:46- I hope you guys like this. - BOTH:- We will.

0:18:52 > 0:18:54Right. I reckon it's looking pretty good.

0:18:54 > 0:18:57- Do you guys want to see it? - Yeah!

0:18:57 > 0:18:58OK, here we go.

0:19:00 > 0:19:04- Wow!- Oh, it's really good. - That's so amazing.

0:19:04 > 0:19:06Oh, I'm glad you guys like it.

0:19:06 > 0:19:08How much would you give it out of ten?

0:19:08 > 0:19:10I give it a one.

0:19:10 > 0:19:13- I also give it a one.- Only two?

0:19:13 > 0:19:16No, we mean 11.

0:19:16 > 0:19:18Oh, wow! That's not even possible.

0:19:18 > 0:19:20Thanks very much, Bronny. Cheers, Flo.

0:19:20 > 0:19:24I'm really happy with my desert island chalk picture.

0:19:26 > 0:19:28Thanks again, have a good day.

0:19:28 > 0:19:29- Thank you.- Bye.- Bye, Ricky.

0:19:32 > 0:19:35'Why don't you use chalk to draw a desert island picture

0:19:35 > 0:19:37'or anything else you fancy?'

0:19:54 > 0:19:55Hang on a minute.

0:19:57 > 0:19:59I'm sure I only made one of those.

0:19:59 > 0:20:02'Oh, no, the goblins must have multiplied,

0:20:02 > 0:20:04'because I got paint on them!

0:20:04 > 0:20:07'Well, I guess you could make your goblin in any shape or size.'

0:20:07 > 0:20:09They are cute, though.

0:20:09 > 0:20:11I'd better clean that up.

0:20:11 > 0:20:14I haven't got anything I can use.

0:20:14 > 0:20:16Hey, you there!

0:20:16 > 0:20:18Oh, not him again!

0:20:18 > 0:20:21Too busy to shift stubborn stains?

0:20:21 > 0:20:22Uh, yeah?

0:20:22 > 0:20:25You need flip-flop mop!

0:20:26 > 0:20:29'Here's how you make it -

0:20:29 > 0:20:31'first you need an old flip-flop

0:20:31 > 0:20:33'and a mophead like this.

0:20:35 > 0:20:38'Insert the flip-flop into the mophead.

0:20:41 > 0:20:44'Next, you'll need a needle and thread.

0:20:45 > 0:20:48'Fold the fabric over the flip-flop

0:20:48 > 0:20:51'and sew it into place around the thong part

0:20:51 > 0:20:53'of the aforementioned footwear.'

0:20:58 > 0:21:02'Now repeat the process with the other flip-flop in the pair.

0:21:04 > 0:21:06'You will be the proud owner of...'

0:21:06 > 0:21:08Flip-flop mops.

0:21:08 > 0:21:10Not available in the shops.

0:21:11 > 0:21:13Have to get me a pair of those.

0:21:15 > 0:21:17I may be able to use my feet to clean the floor.

0:21:17 > 0:21:19But let me give you a hand at drawing hands

0:21:19 > 0:21:20with this quick art tip.

0:21:20 > 0:21:23So, I'm going to start by drawing the wrist

0:21:23 > 0:21:25and then I'm going to draw a half circle

0:21:25 > 0:21:26to give me a guide for the palm.

0:21:26 > 0:21:30'I'm going to use pencil as a guide, which I can rub out later.'

0:21:30 > 0:21:33And then, also, I'm going to do a couple of lines here

0:21:33 > 0:21:35to give me a guide for the size of the fingers.

0:21:35 > 0:21:38The largest finger is the middle finger

0:21:38 > 0:21:40and they need to be smaller either side,

0:21:40 > 0:21:41so index and little finger.

0:21:43 > 0:21:46So, I'm going to start drawing the fingers in

0:21:46 > 0:21:48and the middle finger is the longest.

0:21:49 > 0:21:52Gets smaller towards the little finger

0:21:52 > 0:21:54and towards the index finger.

0:21:54 > 0:21:57Now, to draw the thumb, extend out slightly from the palm

0:21:57 > 0:21:59and then up to the base of the four fingers,

0:21:59 > 0:22:01and then curve it back down into the palm.

0:22:01 > 0:22:03OK? I'm just going to draw up the other size of hand here.

0:22:03 > 0:22:05And then at the base of the fingers, just below,

0:22:05 > 0:22:08I'm going to draw a line across, like a crease in the hand.

0:22:08 > 0:22:09Now you know the basics,

0:22:09 > 0:22:12practise drawing hands in different poses.

0:22:12 > 0:22:15'I'm going to draw a hand in profile.'

0:22:15 > 0:22:17Now I'm going to draw a hand pointing.

0:22:21 > 0:22:23There you go.

0:22:23 > 0:22:25A quick art tip.

0:22:32 > 0:22:35'You can draw someone else's hand or pick any you like.'

0:22:40 > 0:22:43Do you ever get the feeling that you're being watched?

0:22:45 > 0:22:46Well, they must be watching me,

0:22:46 > 0:22:48because there's never anything on TV.

0:22:50 > 0:22:52There is now.

0:22:52 > 0:22:55I think I spend too much time on my own.

0:22:55 > 0:22:58I've started seeing things. I need to get out of here.

0:22:58 > 0:22:59Where are my shoes?

0:23:03 > 0:23:06I'm going to have to find these guys a new home before mine is overrun.

0:23:06 > 0:23:08I'm definitely going to need a hand.

0:23:08 > 0:23:10Not that hand!

0:23:10 > 0:23:12I know.

0:23:13 > 0:23:15Rich...

0:23:15 > 0:23:17get Matt. I need your help.

0:23:31 > 0:23:32Ninja skills.

0:23:32 > 0:23:35Hey, fellas, thanks for helping me get rid of these little guys.

0:23:35 > 0:23:36No worries.

0:23:36 > 0:23:38Where are we going to send these little nippers, mate?

0:23:38 > 0:23:40Well, they shouldn't be cooped up in a flat,

0:23:40 > 0:23:42they should be wild, running free.

0:23:42 > 0:23:44We should send them to the jungle.

0:23:44 > 0:23:48Hang on, all these boxes, all this paint,

0:23:48 > 0:23:51and you guys are pretty good at graffiti, right?

0:23:51 > 0:23:52Not too shabby.

0:23:52 > 0:23:54This gives me a great idea -

0:23:54 > 0:23:55let's get our ninja on!

0:24:03 > 0:24:04- ENTHUSIASTIC:- Art ninja.

0:24:04 > 0:24:06- UNENTHUSIASTIC:- Art ninja.

0:24:12 > 0:24:16'We're all wearing masks, because spray paint is fumy.'

0:24:16 > 0:24:17So, how do you get into this?

0:24:17 > 0:24:20Because, I guess, you can't go and paint anywhere, can you?

0:24:20 > 0:24:23No. When you're starting off, the best bet is go to a skate park,

0:24:23 > 0:24:25somewhere like that, where you can ask permission.

0:24:25 > 0:24:28Or get your parents to maybe put up some boards in your back garden.

0:24:30 > 0:24:33These separate images may not make much sense right now,

0:24:33 > 0:24:37but when they come together, you'll see something truly spectacular.

0:24:39 > 0:24:42Practice makes perfect. Always sketch.

0:24:42 > 0:24:45So, keep sketch books, keep drawing and drawing every day

0:24:45 > 0:24:48until you develop your style, and then you're ready.

0:24:51 > 0:24:53How many sketch books have you got?

0:24:53 > 0:24:56I'd easily go through three or four a year still.

0:24:56 > 0:24:58Richie, how many sketch books have you got?

0:24:58 > 0:25:00RICHIE MUMBLES

0:25:00 > 0:25:01Wow! That many?

0:25:04 > 0:25:06OK, guys, we've painted all our boxes.

0:25:06 > 0:25:09Now let's put them together, like a giant jigsaw puzzle.

0:25:09 > 0:25:11Let's go!

0:25:13 > 0:25:15All right, let's get this froggy together.

0:25:15 > 0:25:18If you find the back end, you win a prize.

0:25:18 > 0:25:20- Yeah, got it.- Oh.

0:25:20 > 0:25:22That was a lie about the prize, by the way.

0:25:22 > 0:25:24OK, let's try to get a nice base level going all the way along here.

0:25:30 > 0:25:32I've got my little goblin, safe and sound.

0:25:34 > 0:25:36Whoops!

0:25:40 > 0:25:43There's one in particular we're looking for.

0:25:43 > 0:25:46When you see it, you'll know exactly what it is.

0:25:46 > 0:25:48HE ROARS

0:25:48 > 0:25:49THEY SCREAM

0:25:49 > 0:25:51Guys? Only me.

0:25:54 > 0:25:57'We're making a graffiti puzzle with huge boxes.

0:25:57 > 0:26:01'You could try, using smaller boxes, to make your own puzzle at home.'

0:26:05 > 0:26:09And the final piece of my gargantuan graffiti jigsaw...

0:26:10 > 0:26:12..goes into place.

0:26:17 > 0:26:19'Not only is it some wild art,

0:26:19 > 0:26:21'but all the goblins are safely packed inside the boxes

0:26:21 > 0:26:24'and ready to be sent away to a real jungle.'

0:26:26 > 0:26:29Wow! Jungle really is massive.

0:26:29 > 0:26:32MUSIC: Jungle Is Massive (Wicked) by MC Vapour

0:26:36 > 0:26:40Well, in all seriousness, this is brilliant. Good work.

0:26:40 > 0:26:41Thanks, man. Cheers.

0:26:41 > 0:26:44And do you know what? If you try hard,

0:26:44 > 0:26:48maybe one day you too could reach art ninja status

0:26:48 > 0:26:50just like me.

0:26:50 > 0:26:52Nice one, Ricky.

0:26:52 > 0:26:53Nice one, Ricky!

0:26:53 > 0:26:55Yeah!

0:26:58 > 0:27:01I think we can safely consider those pesky goblins

0:27:01 > 0:27:02well and truly...

0:27:02 > 0:27:04YAH!

0:27:04 > 0:27:06..dispatched.

0:27:06 > 0:27:08MUSIC: Jungle Is Massive (Wicked) by MC Vapour

0:27:22 > 0:27:25I'm glad we packed those goblins off to the jungle.

0:27:25 > 0:27:28Today has taught me a valuable art ninja lesson -

0:27:28 > 0:27:31ignore instructions at your peril

0:27:31 > 0:27:35or those weird old goblins might go feral.

0:27:35 > 0:27:37Anyway, all's well that ends well.

0:27:47 > 0:27:50Aaaah!

0:27:56 > 0:27:59'To get your art ninja on, go to the CBBC website.

0:27:59 > 0:28:01'Ninja skills.'
