0:00:17 > 0:00:20I make things,

0:00:20 > 0:00:26I hang out with my mates, Gavin, Michelle and Sarah.

0:00:26 > 0:00:29Most importantly, I make ninja moves.

0:00:29 > 0:00:31Some people call me the...

0:00:31 > 0:00:33Art Ninja!

0:00:33 > 0:00:38'Today, I'll show you how to turn yourself into a first-class stamp.'

0:00:38 > 0:00:41Yeah, fits perfectly.

0:00:41 > 0:00:44'I'll make an envelope into a wallet in a jiffy

0:00:44 > 0:00:48'and it's off to the beach for seaside snaps and some snappy art

0:00:48 > 0:00:51'because today it's...'

0:00:55 > 0:00:57ALARM CLOCK BEEPS

0:01:00 > 0:01:03It's a beautiful new day.

0:01:03 > 0:01:07Time to get my ninja on...

0:01:07 > 0:01:09and my clothes.

0:01:09 > 0:01:10Hee-ya!

0:01:23 > 0:01:25NINJA SLAP

0:01:25 > 0:01:26NINJA SLAP

0:01:30 > 0:01:34It's such a lovely day, I think I'll do some art at the beach.

0:01:34 > 0:01:36Now, where are my lucky trunks?

0:01:36 > 0:01:39PHONE BEEPS

0:01:39 > 0:01:42Oh, Matt and Rich are already at the beach.

0:01:42 > 0:01:44LAPTOP BEEPS

0:01:44 > 0:01:46Oh, that's Sarah. She's there too.

0:01:46 > 0:01:49I really need to get a wiggle on but where are my lucky trunks?

0:01:49 > 0:01:52- PHONE BEEPS - Hang on.

0:01:52 > 0:01:54Oh, what?

0:01:54 > 0:01:55Gavin's at the beach as well!

0:01:55 > 0:01:57I bet everyone's having loads of fun,

0:01:57 > 0:02:01but I can't go cos I haven't got my lucky trunks.

0:02:01 > 0:02:03I can't tell them that.

0:02:03 > 0:02:04It's just silly, right?

0:02:06 > 0:02:09Oh, look - free trunks inside.

0:02:09 > 0:02:11This could be problem solved.

0:02:16 > 0:02:17Elephants?

0:02:19 > 0:02:22Oh - free trunks. I get it.

0:02:22 > 0:02:24You know what? I might send my friends an e-card

0:02:24 > 0:02:27showing I'm having fun in the sun somewhere else.

0:02:27 > 0:02:29I'll just use the cereal and my phone.

0:02:29 > 0:02:32You wait here, we're going to go and shoot a cereal selfie,

0:02:32 > 0:02:34you can check out my kitchen SHELFIE!

0:02:38 > 0:02:40There we go.

0:02:40 > 0:02:42There you are. Well, there I am.

0:02:42 > 0:02:45Let's get a picture of this.

0:02:45 > 0:02:48'It looks like I've been holidaying in the maze mountains.'

0:02:48 > 0:02:51Nice. Right, let's send it to me mates.

0:02:51 > 0:02:53Oh, no! Network's down.

0:02:53 > 0:02:55How am I going to show them I'm having fun in the sun

0:02:55 > 0:02:57somewhere else?

0:02:57 > 0:02:59Come on, think. Think.

0:02:59 > 0:03:01A bit slow to - slow...

0:03:01 > 0:03:02snail mail!

0:03:02 > 0:03:04I'll send them a postcard.

0:03:04 > 0:03:06Let's just print this out.

0:03:06 > 0:03:08Oh, yeah, printed.

0:03:08 > 0:03:11Look at that.

0:03:11 > 0:03:13Going to need a stamp.

0:03:13 > 0:03:16So I'm going to make myself a stamp.

0:03:16 > 0:03:17Art Ninja.

0:03:17 > 0:03:19The Art Ninja stamp.

0:03:19 > 0:03:22Let's face it - it's first-class.

0:03:22 > 0:03:27So I'm going to draw an oval on this cardboard, 21cm high.

0:03:29 > 0:03:32'This is the hole I'll put my face through.

0:03:32 > 0:03:34'You need to make the hole as big as your face.

0:03:34 > 0:03:36'Measure it with a ruler.'

0:03:36 > 0:03:37Great.

0:03:39 > 0:03:40Fits perfectly.

0:03:43 > 0:03:45Now I'm going to paint that red.

0:03:45 > 0:03:46Yeah.

0:03:48 > 0:03:51Gets a bit messy here, so make sure you put newspaper down.

0:03:51 > 0:03:54Don't want to wreck your mum and dad's favourite table.

0:03:54 > 0:03:55OK, that's all done.

0:03:55 > 0:03:58Now if you're doing this at home you'll need to wait for it to dry,

0:03:58 > 0:04:00but not me - I'm the Art Ninja.

0:04:02 > 0:04:03There we are.

0:04:03 > 0:04:05Now stamps always have those lovely frilly bits round the edges

0:04:05 > 0:04:09and I'm going to be using the inside of an old cereal box.

0:04:15 > 0:04:18So you should end up with these lovely frilly bits.

0:04:18 > 0:04:21But I've only got two and I need four so let's make some more.

0:04:23 > 0:04:25Right, I can start gluing these on now.

0:04:26 > 0:04:30Drop here.

0:04:30 > 0:04:32I've also cut out from some card

0:04:32 > 0:04:34a number and a couple of letters,

0:04:34 > 0:04:36just to show this stamp is first-class.

0:04:41 > 0:04:43Now as a stamp it's pretty much there

0:04:43 > 0:04:46but most stamps have a little touch of royalty

0:04:46 > 0:04:48and mine's not going to be different.

0:04:48 > 0:04:50So I'm going to make myself a crown.

0:04:50 > 0:04:53For the crown I'm going to be using the same thin cereal box card.

0:05:01 > 0:05:04Now you don't want to see me painting and watching paint dry

0:05:04 > 0:05:07all the time, so let's use some more ninja skills.

0:05:07 > 0:05:08Nice.

0:05:08 > 0:05:11It's nice and gold now, very royal,

0:05:11 > 0:05:14but it's missing some jewels.

0:05:14 > 0:05:17Now I've cut some shapes out of some strips of shiny paper -

0:05:17 > 0:05:20you can use things like wrapping paper, sweet wrappers, foil,

0:05:20 > 0:05:23anything you've got lying around that you think would work,

0:05:23 > 0:05:26and I'm going to gluestick them to the top of my crown.

0:05:31 > 0:05:32Pearls on the top here.

0:05:34 > 0:05:36OK, stick it through

0:05:39 > 0:05:42and I'm going to attach it with a bit of sticky tape either side.

0:05:44 > 0:05:46There we go.

0:05:46 > 0:05:47So I'm going to create some grey hair

0:05:47 > 0:05:52by using some grey strips of card and curling them round a pencil.

0:05:52 > 0:05:55Just getting it all the way round like that.

0:05:55 > 0:05:56Lovely.

0:05:56 > 0:05:59And you attach them to the inside here.

0:05:59 > 0:06:00I've got loads of these...

0:06:00 > 0:06:02so I'll get sticking.

0:06:07 > 0:06:09Right, I think that's enough now.

0:06:09 > 0:06:10Time to try it on.

0:06:12 > 0:06:15Yeah! Fits perfectly.

0:06:15 > 0:06:17Let's get a picture.

0:06:17 > 0:06:18Awesome.

0:06:18 > 0:06:22While that's printing, let's have a look at some other ideas.

0:06:22 > 0:06:24We can go...

0:06:24 > 0:06:28all Princessy, "Oh, hello, darling, ooh!"

0:06:28 > 0:06:32And then we could also go a little bit old-fashioned.

0:06:32 > 0:06:34"Oh-ho-ho, well, well,

0:06:34 > 0:06:38"the stamps in my day were grey, he-he-he."

0:06:40 > 0:06:43They've probably - they've probably printed now.

0:06:43 > 0:06:46Oh, yes!

0:06:46 > 0:06:49I will need to use a real stamp too, though.

0:06:49 > 0:06:50This one's just for fun.

0:06:52 > 0:06:56"Having a rad time, Ricky."

0:06:58 > 0:07:00First-class art.

0:07:00 > 0:07:01I'd best go post this now.

0:07:03 > 0:07:06Still haven't found my lucky trunks

0:07:06 > 0:07:09and if I don't find them, I'll never get to the beach.

0:07:09 > 0:07:11What time is it?

0:07:11 > 0:07:13Oh, I know what time it is.

0:07:13 > 0:07:15It's animation time.

0:07:15 > 0:07:16MUSIC: Bicycle by Queen

0:07:16 > 0:07:21- # Bicycle, bicycle, bicycle - I want to ride my

0:07:21 > 0:07:25# Bicycle, bicycle, bicycle... #

0:07:25 > 0:07:27I've got an idea that will transform your bike

0:07:27 > 0:07:30into a crazy mobile animation machine.

0:07:30 > 0:07:37# I want to ride my bicycle I want to ride it where I like. #

0:07:37 > 0:07:38Pretty cool, huh?

0:07:38 > 0:07:42You can make an awesome mobile bike wheel animation with cardboard,

0:07:42 > 0:07:45some scissors, a bike and a camera.

0:07:45 > 0:07:48And you can make this animation in just three ninja moves.

0:07:48 > 0:07:51'Ninja move number one.'

0:07:51 > 0:07:54As I'm in a skate park I'm going to do, well, a skateboarding trick -

0:07:54 > 0:07:55a kick flip.

0:07:55 > 0:07:58So I'm just going to start by drawing some guide images.

0:08:01 > 0:08:04And I'm going to do an animation cycle of ten frames. I think

0:08:04 > 0:08:07that's just the right amount of room to go around the wheel.

0:08:07 > 0:08:09I've got a bit of old scrap card,

0:08:09 > 0:08:12and I measured it to make sure it fit the wheel.

0:08:12 > 0:08:15I folded it into tenths, so I've got the right amount of space

0:08:15 > 0:08:19around the wheel for my ten frames, so it ends up being about that size.

0:08:19 > 0:08:22That is a good guide for how much frame space I have to work with.

0:08:22 > 0:08:23So I'm going to cut that bit out,

0:08:23 > 0:08:25and that's how much space I'm going to have,

0:08:25 > 0:08:28so I'm going to draw around that.

0:08:28 > 0:08:31'These are my templates for my ten frames.'

0:08:31 > 0:08:33OK, now I'm going to roughly draw my character

0:08:33 > 0:08:35on to each of these templates.

0:08:35 > 0:08:37'My drawings don't have to be perfect

0:08:37 > 0:08:40'cos I'm going to cut them out anyway. If there's loads to cut out,

0:08:40 > 0:08:43'get someone to help you.'

0:08:43 > 0:08:44I'm thinking when the board turns over,

0:08:44 > 0:08:46I'd like it to be a different colour,

0:08:46 > 0:08:48just so it gives you the idea of it being 3-D.

0:08:48 > 0:08:52'So I'm replacing the upside-down skateboards with red card versions.'

0:08:55 > 0:08:57'Ninja move number two.'

0:08:57 > 0:09:00It's time to attach my frames to my bike wheel

0:09:00 > 0:09:02and I'm going to do that with some thick black tape.

0:09:02 > 0:09:05'So I'm attaching my frames to the bike wheel by putting black tape

0:09:05 > 0:09:08'on one side of the spokes, and the frames on the other.

0:09:08 > 0:09:11'Make sure you take care when you're positioning your frames

0:09:11 > 0:09:14'and be sure that they are an equal distance apart.

0:09:14 > 0:09:17'I'm using thin card for this animation

0:09:17 > 0:09:19'and this is because if any of the frames fall off,

0:09:19 > 0:09:22'the card is not strong enough to get caught in the spokes

0:09:22 > 0:09:25'and stop the wheel. So, it's safe.'

0:09:27 > 0:09:29Check out that.

0:09:29 > 0:09:32'It's looking good, even without animating it.

0:09:32 > 0:09:34'Ninja move number three.'

0:09:34 > 0:09:35It's time to capture your animation.

0:09:35 > 0:09:38You can either put your bike upside down and crank the pedals

0:09:38 > 0:09:40and shoot it in just the right place to get the animation

0:09:40 > 0:09:43or you can do what I'm going to do

0:09:43 > 0:09:46and take this mini masterpiece for a spin.

0:09:48 > 0:09:50You can't see this through the naked eye -

0:09:50 > 0:09:52only through a camera viewfinder.

0:09:52 > 0:09:55So get one of your mates to video it when you cycle around

0:09:55 > 0:09:56or crank the wheel yourself.

0:09:56 > 0:10:00Simply play it back to see the optical illusion in action.

0:10:02 > 0:10:05There you go - an awesome bike wheel animation.

0:10:05 > 0:10:06Pretty easy to pick up,

0:10:06 > 0:10:08it's hard to forget...

0:10:08 > 0:10:10it's a bit like riding a bike.

0:10:12 > 0:10:14Now you get animating.

0:10:14 > 0:10:15Imagine what you could do.

0:10:15 > 0:10:17BICYCLE BELL

0:10:18 > 0:10:21Art Ninja.

0:10:21 > 0:10:23Sometimes I think I have too much fun.

0:10:23 > 0:10:25PHONE RINGS

0:10:25 > 0:10:28I'm having too much fun to answer the phone, that's for sure.

0:10:28 > 0:10:30- BEEP - Hi, Ricky, it's Mum.

0:10:30 > 0:10:32If you're in the sun today,

0:10:32 > 0:10:35hope you're using the Factor 100 lotion I gave you.

0:10:35 > 0:10:37I thought I'd ring to see what you had coming up.

0:10:37 > 0:10:39Wondered if it might be stuff like -

0:10:39 > 0:10:42turning a plain envelope into a wallet that's so money,

0:10:42 > 0:10:46making soap that looks like bathtime ice cream

0:10:46 > 0:10:50and snapping seaside photos that take on a life of their own.

0:10:50 > 0:10:54Anyway, Ricky, we're off to the beach. Says it's naturist -

0:10:54 > 0:10:56so hoping we'll see some lovely nature!

0:10:56 > 0:11:00I don't think Mum's quite understood. Eurgh!

0:11:00 > 0:11:04I need to do something to get that image out of my head.

0:11:04 > 0:11:05Ricky, Ricky, Ricky!

0:11:05 > 0:11:07I said I wanted a distraction.

0:11:07 > 0:11:09What can you make with cardboard?

0:11:09 > 0:11:11Cardboard? Mmm, not that today.

0:11:11 > 0:11:13Aw.

0:11:13 > 0:11:15Ricky, what can you make with this?

0:11:15 > 0:11:16Ah, this looks interesting.

0:11:16 > 0:11:18- I pick you.- Yay!

0:11:18 > 0:11:21- So what are your names? - I'm Marie.- And I'm Celia.

0:11:21 > 0:11:23Nice to meet you and where are you from?

0:11:23 > 0:11:24- London.- What have you got for me?

0:11:24 > 0:11:27- We've got clingfilm.- Clingfilm?

0:11:27 > 0:11:30Mmm, I usually can't find the end of my clingfilm,

0:11:30 > 0:11:32but, you know what, I'm willing to give it a new beginning.

0:11:32 > 0:11:34Straight off, look at that.

0:11:34 > 0:11:37Let me just grab the other stuff I need, I'll be right back.

0:11:37 > 0:11:41So I've got some paper, some lovely paints, some paint and glue mix.

0:11:41 > 0:11:43I've also put down some backing paper.

0:11:43 > 0:11:45Probably going to get quite messy

0:11:45 > 0:11:47because I'm going to make an underwater clingfilm picture.

0:11:47 > 0:11:50- Does that sound good?- Yeah. - Nice. Right,

0:11:50 > 0:11:53I'm going to start by doing a backing coat for the main ocean.

0:11:53 > 0:11:56'It's important to mix some PVA glue into your paint.'

0:11:56 > 0:11:58Because it just helps the clingfilm

0:11:58 > 0:12:00to stick around and clump afterwards.

0:12:00 > 0:12:03- So what are you guys up to today? - We're just visiting family.

0:12:03 > 0:12:04Is it family you like?

0:12:04 > 0:12:06Cos you know you can't pick your family, you just get...

0:12:06 > 0:12:09- Yeah.- Yeah, they're fun. - Oh, nice one.

0:12:09 > 0:12:13Right, I'm just going to put some splodges of white on the blue paint,

0:12:13 > 0:12:14as these bits are going to help

0:12:14 > 0:12:17bring out the texture of the clingfilm.

0:12:19 > 0:12:21'I'm laying clingfilm over the paint.'

0:12:23 > 0:12:27Now I'm going to start squeezing the clingfilm all over the page,

0:12:27 > 0:12:32pulling it all together, to make underwater kind of textures.

0:12:32 > 0:12:33You can hear it.

0:12:33 > 0:12:36- Does it sound like a rustling? - More like a squelching.

0:12:36 > 0:12:38'It does feel all lovely and slimy.'

0:12:38 > 0:12:40Now I'm going to start adding some coral

0:12:40 > 0:12:44and I'm going to do that by painting them with stencils.

0:12:44 > 0:12:48'I'm drawing different-shaped coral on pieces of card.'

0:12:48 > 0:12:50Bit of seaweed.

0:12:50 > 0:12:51Do you guys have any pets?

0:12:51 > 0:12:54I've had a fish tank but I've never actually had any fish.

0:12:54 > 0:12:58- What kind of fish do you want to get in it?- Clown Fish.

0:12:58 > 0:13:00That is a good idea. You have inspired me.

0:13:00 > 0:13:02I'm going to draw a Clown Fish now.

0:13:06 > 0:13:08Let's start cutting those out.

0:13:08 > 0:13:11'Of course, I'm super-careful with scissors.

0:13:11 > 0:13:14'Make sure you are too.'

0:13:14 > 0:13:15Now I'm going to start doing some painting.

0:13:15 > 0:13:18What colour are you going to make them?

0:13:18 > 0:13:21Yellow, green, purple, orange and some white.

0:13:23 > 0:13:25Oh, yeah, pretty good.

0:13:27 > 0:13:31This stencil does mean that you can go on a lot heavier with the colour

0:13:31 > 0:13:34and still have a nice, clean line.

0:13:36 > 0:13:38Now I'm going to re-use my seaweed one

0:13:38 > 0:13:40but just the top of it, so it looks different,

0:13:40 > 0:13:42with a darker tone of green.

0:13:45 > 0:13:48I think now we're going to put on the clownfish

0:13:48 > 0:13:50and what colour's a clownfish?

0:13:50 > 0:13:51- Orange and white.- Yeah.

0:13:55 > 0:13:58Right, currently my fish has no eyes, can't see,

0:13:58 > 0:14:00so let's give it an eye.

0:14:00 > 0:14:03- Are you ready to see it? - Yeah.- Yeah.

0:14:03 > 0:14:04What do ya think?

0:14:04 > 0:14:06- Oh, that's awesome!- Wow!

0:14:06 > 0:14:08That looks really, really good.

0:14:08 > 0:14:10What would you give it out of ten?

0:14:10 > 0:14:11A ten out of ten.

0:14:11 > 0:14:14Ten out of ten? Wa-ter good score!

0:14:14 > 0:14:16Get it? WATER good score?

0:14:16 > 0:14:19Nah. Now I'm going to give it a three out of ten.

0:14:19 > 0:14:20Three - why?

0:14:20 > 0:14:23- For your bad joke.- Oh!

0:14:23 > 0:14:24Tough crowd.

0:14:24 > 0:14:26Do you know what? I'm really happy with it.

0:14:26 > 0:14:29I think all it needs is a nice frame.

0:14:29 > 0:14:30Thanks very much, guys.

0:14:30 > 0:14:33- Bye.- Bye, Ricky.- Bye-bye.

0:14:33 > 0:14:36'Now use clingfilm and don't shrink wrap your imagination

0:14:36 > 0:14:38'when you make your picture.'

0:14:39 > 0:14:43Well, if I can't go to the beach, I'll just have to imagine it.

0:14:43 > 0:14:46'My mum has told me that I'm not supposed to jump on sofas

0:14:46 > 0:14:49'with my shoes on so you shouldn't either, right? Oops.'

0:14:49 > 0:14:51Sofa surfing!

0:14:51 > 0:14:54Whoa! Do you know what?

0:14:54 > 0:14:56These imaginary waves are really gnarly.

0:14:56 > 0:15:00I'll have to hold on tight. Whoa!

0:15:00 > 0:15:02Look what I found. Wo-ho-ho!

0:15:02 > 0:15:05Loads of money!

0:15:05 > 0:15:09Maybe I don't need those lucky trunks after all.

0:15:09 > 0:15:12You know what, I could use this money to buy a new wallet -

0:15:12 > 0:15:13this one's seen better days.

0:15:17 > 0:15:19Or maybe...

0:15:19 > 0:15:21I could make one.

0:15:21 > 0:15:24I'm going to use a nice big envelope, self-sealing one.

0:15:24 > 0:15:26I'm going to start by folding it in half.

0:15:26 > 0:15:30Always remember to keep the sticky side of the tab face-up

0:15:30 > 0:15:34and in half again

0:15:34 > 0:15:36and then open it up

0:15:36 > 0:15:38and fold it in half lengthways.

0:15:38 > 0:15:41Right, then I need to get a pair of scissors

0:15:41 > 0:15:43and cut a triangle in here,

0:15:43 > 0:15:46so between the middle crease and your first one.

0:15:48 > 0:15:50About there

0:15:50 > 0:15:52and a centimetre from this crease, just join them up.

0:15:54 > 0:15:56Get rid of that bit.

0:15:56 > 0:15:58Now open it up.

0:15:58 > 0:16:01This triangle is actually going to help the whole wallet fold.

0:16:01 > 0:16:03Then, separate the two layers,

0:16:03 > 0:16:06cut a little bit up here to the first crease

0:16:06 > 0:16:09and then out to the edge of the envelope.

0:16:09 > 0:16:13You need to do that on each of these creases here.

0:16:20 > 0:16:23OK, now open those two flaps up

0:16:23 > 0:16:25and you're going to turn these into triangle tabs

0:16:25 > 0:16:27that will help stick the wallet together.

0:16:27 > 0:16:29Cut the triangle off in that direction.

0:16:29 > 0:16:32A little bit there

0:16:32 > 0:16:35and copy that the other side.

0:16:35 > 0:16:37One bit there.

0:16:37 > 0:16:40Now I'm going to fold this bit in half

0:16:40 > 0:16:41and then back on itself there

0:16:41 > 0:16:44and now I'm going to sticky-tape these two flaps down.

0:16:49 > 0:16:50Like that,

0:16:50 > 0:16:53then fold it up to the top,

0:16:53 > 0:16:56and this is where the self-sealing envelope comes into play.

0:16:56 > 0:16:57So take this bit off.

0:16:59 > 0:17:02Open up the wallet like so

0:17:02 > 0:17:06and then just fold that bit inside

0:17:06 > 0:17:08and stick it to itself.

0:17:11 > 0:17:14Fold it in half

0:17:14 > 0:17:16and you've got yourself a little wallet.

0:17:17 > 0:17:20Hi, I'm the artist Piet Mondrian.

0:17:20 > 0:17:22I didn't realise Piet Mondrian lived in my wallet.

0:17:22 > 0:17:25I'm from a Movement called De Stijl.

0:17:25 > 0:17:27I was lying very DE STIJL in the wallet.

0:17:27 > 0:17:30- That's my little joke!- Very droll.

0:17:30 > 0:17:33But if you're living in my wallet, shouldn't you be MONET?

0:17:33 > 0:17:35That's my little joke.

0:17:35 > 0:17:39He-he. My art was designed to be in harmony with nature,

0:17:39 > 0:17:42using lots of horizontal and vertical lines.

0:17:42 > 0:17:45Here's one of my famous pictures.

0:17:45 > 0:17:49I influenced lots of design in the '60s, from fashion to furniture.

0:17:49 > 0:17:52Are you DE STIJL going on?

0:17:52 > 0:17:54Anyway, he's inspired me.

0:17:54 > 0:17:58I think I'll decorate my wallet in the style of Mondrian.

0:17:59 > 0:18:03I'm going to use some black tape cut into strips to make the black lines.

0:18:05 > 0:18:07There we go.

0:18:07 > 0:18:09Any lose bits that come over the end,

0:18:09 > 0:18:10I'm just going to snip them off.

0:18:14 > 0:18:17Keeping these lines nice and parallel to the edges of the wallet,

0:18:17 > 0:18:20so it creates lots of boxes and rectangles.

0:18:20 > 0:18:21'That was Mondrian's style

0:18:21 > 0:18:24'but you can make your lines go in any direction.'

0:18:24 > 0:18:28One bit there, just to break up that box

0:18:28 > 0:18:32and then once you've done one side, it's time to turn it over

0:18:32 > 0:18:34and do some more on the inside.

0:18:37 > 0:18:39The last little line, I reckon.

0:18:39 > 0:18:43Right, now it's time for me to add some colour

0:18:43 > 0:18:48and I'm going to use bold primary colours, just like Mondrian did.

0:18:48 > 0:18:49So I'm going to start with red.

0:18:55 > 0:18:58Just little splashes of colour, OK?

0:18:58 > 0:19:00And a bit of blue.

0:19:00 > 0:19:02The great thing about this is it doesn't really matter

0:19:02 > 0:19:04if you go over the edge.

0:19:04 > 0:19:06You've got these nice big borders to save you.

0:19:06 > 0:19:08And a bit of yellow.

0:19:13 > 0:19:18And once you've coloured the front, turn it over,

0:19:18 > 0:19:19put some colour on the back.

0:19:26 > 0:19:30There we are, all done.

0:19:30 > 0:19:32If you fancy making a wallet with a different design,

0:19:32 > 0:19:35here's some other ideas using tape.

0:19:42 > 0:19:46I'm pretty happy with that.

0:19:46 > 0:19:47What do you think, Mondrian?

0:19:47 > 0:19:49Can you lend me a fiver?

0:19:49 > 0:19:50What do you think I am -

0:19:50 > 0:19:52made of money?

0:19:53 > 0:19:56Hey, you there!

0:19:56 > 0:19:57Look at this guy -

0:19:57 > 0:20:01he's either really tanned or seriously needs a wash.

0:20:01 > 0:20:03Seriously need a wash?

0:20:03 > 0:20:05That's what I just said!

0:20:05 > 0:20:08Well now, you can make bath time

0:20:08 > 0:20:12party time with new bath time ice cream.

0:20:14 > 0:20:15'Here's how you make it.

0:20:15 > 0:20:19'You'll need a bowl and a spoon.

0:20:19 > 0:20:22'Put some baking powder in the bowl.

0:20:22 > 0:20:26'Add some citric acid, available from supermarkets or chemists,

0:20:26 > 0:20:28'to make it fizz.

0:20:28 > 0:20:31'Pour in some cornflour

0:20:31 > 0:20:34'and add some almond oil. Mmm, nutty.

0:20:34 > 0:20:36'Drip that in.

0:20:36 > 0:20:40'Additionally you will need food colouring.

0:20:40 > 0:20:43'I'm using grey, but you can use any colour you like.

0:20:43 > 0:20:45'Essential oil is...

0:20:45 > 0:20:49'essential. Smells good. Just a splash.

0:20:49 > 0:20:53'Now stir it all up until it's all mixed together.

0:20:53 > 0:20:55'Oh, like this.'

0:20:59 > 0:21:03'Using your hands, mould the mixture into a ball shape

0:21:03 > 0:21:07'until it looks like an ice-cream scoop.

0:21:07 > 0:21:11'You can repeat to make different coloured scoops.

0:21:11 > 0:21:14'Look at that. Very cool.'

0:21:15 > 0:21:17Bath time ice cream.

0:21:17 > 0:21:19It looks nice enough to eat.

0:21:19 > 0:21:21But don't, all right?

0:21:24 > 0:21:27Mmm, don't worry - this is a real ice cream.

0:21:27 > 0:21:30I'm not that flaky!

0:21:30 > 0:21:32Here's a real quick art tip.

0:21:32 > 0:21:33How to create the illusion

0:21:33 > 0:21:36of your favourite little character being underwater.

0:21:36 > 0:21:38So, need to start with a water line

0:21:38 > 0:21:40and I'm going to draw that with a wavy line like this

0:21:40 > 0:21:42with all the peaks pointing upwards.

0:21:42 > 0:21:44Now draw a line for the seabed

0:21:44 > 0:21:48and I'm going to add a few weeds here

0:21:48 > 0:21:50and I'm going to do them with wavy lines

0:21:50 > 0:21:53to create the idea that there's an underwater current.

0:21:53 > 0:21:54One that side.

0:21:57 > 0:22:00Now I'm going to draw my character and I'm going to make sure that

0:22:00 > 0:22:01they're floating in the middle of the sea

0:22:01 > 0:22:03and I'm going to draw a mermaid.

0:22:03 > 0:22:04There's the tail.

0:22:06 > 0:22:09And I'm going to have her hair nice and wavy

0:22:09 > 0:22:11to reinforce the idea of the underwater current.

0:22:13 > 0:22:14There we go.

0:22:14 > 0:22:19And now I'm going to add another little character here, just a fish,

0:22:19 > 0:22:22and I'm going to put some bubbles above him,

0:22:22 > 0:22:24just to show that he's breathing underwater.

0:22:24 > 0:22:26Now finally,

0:22:26 > 0:22:30add a couple of action lines so that she's floating.

0:22:30 > 0:22:31There we go.

0:22:33 > 0:22:34Another quick art tip.

0:22:39 > 0:22:41RIBBIT, RIBBIT

0:22:46 > 0:22:48Since I found some money,

0:22:48 > 0:22:51I'm going to go and see if my mates are still at the beach.

0:22:51 > 0:22:52Laters.

0:23:05 > 0:23:07Ninja skills!

0:23:07 > 0:23:09You all right, Kev, what you up to, mate?

0:23:09 > 0:23:11I'm just taking a few pictures of the seaside, mate.

0:23:11 > 0:23:13Nice. Kevin loves taking photos.

0:23:13 > 0:23:15Got loads of cameras, bit of an enthusiast -

0:23:15 > 0:23:18A Photo Ninja, if you will.

0:23:18 > 0:23:19So where are all our mates?

0:23:19 > 0:23:22- They've all gone now. It's just you and me.- Oh.

0:23:22 > 0:23:23Oh, and this lot.

0:23:23 > 0:23:26ALL: Whoo!

0:23:26 > 0:23:28I thought we could get these guys to help us

0:23:28 > 0:23:31make a piece of art with the cameras on their phones.

0:23:31 > 0:23:32Oh, yeah.

0:23:32 > 0:23:35We can make a massive photo montage to remember a fun day at the beach.

0:23:35 > 0:23:37- ALL:- Yeah!

0:23:37 > 0:23:39But first, let's get our ninja on.

0:23:46 > 0:23:48Art Ninja!

0:23:48 > 0:23:49- ALL:- Art...

0:23:49 > 0:23:52Ninja!

0:23:52 > 0:23:54Now, this place is full of colour,

0:23:54 > 0:23:56so we're going to make a beautiful photo montage,

0:23:56 > 0:23:58but how are we going to capture this in photography?

0:23:58 > 0:24:01Well, I think it's probably best if we just go for block colours,

0:24:01 > 0:24:04so if you're photographing blue just make sure the photograph

0:24:04 > 0:24:07is mostly full of blue and also look for texture.

0:24:07 > 0:24:09OK, who wants to be Team Art and who wants to be Team Ninja?

0:24:09 > 0:24:10Team Art!

0:24:10 > 0:24:12Ninja!

0:24:12 > 0:24:14Whoo!

0:24:14 > 0:24:17I think we'll shoot pink and blue things.

0:24:17 > 0:24:18OK, and that leaves us with...

0:24:18 > 0:24:20Yellow and red.

0:24:20 > 0:24:21- Cool, let's go do it.- Whoo!

0:24:25 > 0:24:29OK, guys, let's go and find some red and yellows.

0:24:29 > 0:24:30- Wow.- It's perfect.

0:24:30 > 0:24:33Can you get a bit closer? Look at all that blue in the rollercoaster.

0:24:35 > 0:24:39- What do you think the yellow's going to become?- Sand?

0:24:39 > 0:24:41Could well be sand.

0:24:41 > 0:24:44Look, we could take a picture of that.

0:24:44 > 0:24:46- And there's blue on there as well. - Oh, yeah.

0:24:46 > 0:24:48There's blue everywhere in here.

0:24:51 > 0:24:54What we could really do with is some red.

0:24:54 > 0:24:56I can't any red anywhere though.

0:24:56 > 0:24:58There!

0:25:00 > 0:25:03- Get your camera ready, I'll lift you up.- OK.- You ready?- Yeah.

0:25:03 > 0:25:07- You ready to take your picture, cos I don't know how heavy you are.- Yeah.

0:25:07 > 0:25:08Done.

0:25:11 > 0:25:13Good work, guys, we've got all the photos printed that you took

0:25:13 > 0:25:15over on the pier and they look great.

0:25:15 > 0:25:18On this big board here I've drawn a nice little line for you

0:25:18 > 0:25:22and it's going to be a guide for our beach-side photo montage.

0:25:22 > 0:25:25- Are you ready to do it? - ALL:- Yeah!

0:25:25 > 0:25:27- Kev, are you ready?- Yeah!

0:25:27 > 0:25:29Right, this bottom bit here where the line's drawn across -

0:25:29 > 0:25:31that's going to be the sand.

0:25:31 > 0:25:35These parts of the costume are going to be all red, and who's got...

0:25:35 > 0:25:36- you've got blue, right?- Yeah.

0:25:36 > 0:25:39- You've got a big job ahead of you.- Ooh!

0:25:39 > 0:25:41It doesn't matter if they overlap a bit

0:25:41 > 0:25:43cos we can clean it up afterwards with the blues.

0:25:45 > 0:25:47Oh, who needs some yellows?

0:25:50 > 0:25:52Guys, do you think it's cool how a really big picture could be

0:25:52 > 0:25:54made up of lots of smaller ones?

0:25:54 > 0:25:56- ALL:- Yeah.- It's amazing.

0:25:56 > 0:25:57Oh, Sharky!

0:25:57 > 0:25:59There's a nice big space here for Sharky,

0:25:59 > 0:26:01I think you should go centre frame.

0:26:01 > 0:26:03Ooh, mind your fingers! Shark.

0:26:05 > 0:26:07Yeah, it's really coming together, guys, good work.

0:26:13 > 0:26:14OK, guys, I think we're done.

0:26:14 > 0:26:17Do you want to step back and admire your hard work?

0:26:20 > 0:26:23Wow! Well done, it looks great. What do you think?

0:26:23 > 0:26:24- Yeah.- Really good.

0:26:29 > 0:26:32'You could take photos or use old magazines to make

0:26:32 > 0:26:34'your own photo montage.

0:26:34 > 0:26:36'So go on - make it snappy.'

0:26:39 > 0:26:43'Now, let's take this art to another level.'

0:26:45 > 0:26:48Thanks so much, you guys have been brilliant today.

0:26:48 > 0:26:49So, erm...

0:26:49 > 0:26:51see you later, yeah?

0:26:51 > 0:26:54- ALL:- See you later. Bye.- Bye.

0:26:54 > 0:26:56OK, it's safe to come out now.

0:26:59 > 0:27:01MUSIC: I Do Like To Be Beside The Seaside

0:27:06 > 0:27:08What do you call a man with a seagull on his head?

0:27:08 > 0:27:09Kev?

0:27:09 > 0:27:11Nah, it's Cliff.

0:27:11 > 0:27:13- Oh.- Good work today, dude.

0:27:13 > 0:27:15Let's get out of here.

0:27:15 > 0:27:17SEAGULL SQUAWKS

0:27:23 > 0:27:26What a great day. I didn't even need these.

0:27:26 > 0:27:29My lucky trunks. I found them in the wash.

0:27:29 > 0:27:32Today has taught me a valuable Art Ninja lesson.

0:27:32 > 0:27:35If you're going to make art at the beach,

0:27:35 > 0:27:37then keep a camera phone within your reach.

0:27:37 > 0:27:39I was pretty lucky.

0:27:39 > 0:27:43People said I looked amazing in my comedy beachwear.

0:27:46 > 0:27:48Night!

0:27:48 > 0:27:51Argh!

0:27:56 > 0:27:58To get your Art Ninja on, go to...

0:28:00 > 0:28:01Ninja skills.
