0:00:03 > 0:00:05I'm Ricky. I live in Bristol.

0:00:05 > 0:00:10By day I work as an animator which is lucky because I love art.

0:00:10 > 0:00:13I live for art. I even dream of art.

0:00:13 > 0:00:15I draw.

0:00:15 > 0:00:16I paint.

0:00:17 > 0:00:18I make things.

0:00:20 > 0:00:25I hang out with my mates, Gavin, Michelle, Rich and Sarah.

0:00:26 > 0:00:29Most importantly I make Ninja moves.

0:00:29 > 0:00:30Some people call me the...

0:00:34 > 0:00:37Today I'll show you how to make a dragon basket for your bike

0:00:37 > 0:00:39or scooter.

0:00:39 > 0:00:43Paint a pizza box canvas that's a feast for the eyes.

0:00:43 > 0:00:47And I make art that involves spraying and slaying.

0:00:48 > 0:00:50Because today it's...

0:00:54 > 0:00:57HE YAWNS

0:00:57 > 0:00:59It's a new day.

0:00:59 > 0:01:02It seems like I've overslept, it's nearly lunchtime.

0:01:02 > 0:01:04I'd better get my Ninja on.

0:01:04 > 0:01:05And my clothes.

0:01:18 > 0:01:19HE SNEEZES

0:01:21 > 0:01:25Hey, it's a menu for a Chinese takeaway called the Magic Dragon.

0:01:25 > 0:01:26It's making me hungry.

0:01:26 > 0:01:29KEYPAD DIAL TONES Hi, the Magic Dragon?

0:01:29 > 0:01:33Yeah, can I get a number three, a number seven and two portions of 48?

0:01:34 > 0:01:37Yeah, and why are you called the Magic Dragon? Oh!

0:01:39 > 0:01:42Your delivery is magic. Oh, should be quick, then.

0:01:42 > 0:01:43KNOCKING

0:01:48 > 0:01:49That was magic!

0:01:51 > 0:01:54I wouldn't be surprised if they used one of these to deliver.

0:01:54 > 0:01:58The Art Ninja dragon bike or scooter basket.

0:01:58 > 0:02:00I've got a large detergent box here

0:02:00 > 0:02:02and that's going to make the main basis for my basket.

0:02:02 > 0:02:04And some old paper cups.

0:02:04 > 0:02:06These are going to become the eyes.

0:02:06 > 0:02:09And you start by cutting them down about halfway.

0:02:11 > 0:02:14Now I'm going to cut slits all the way around the edge of the cup.

0:02:14 > 0:02:15Just going to fan these out.

0:02:15 > 0:02:19It just creates a nice flat surface and helps you stick it.

0:02:19 > 0:02:22I'm going to stick them to the tub with some masking tape.

0:02:24 > 0:02:26Some lovely eyes. Now I'm going to add the nose and the mouth.

0:02:26 > 0:02:28And to do that I'm using an old egg box.

0:02:28 > 0:02:30Just going to cut the top off.

0:02:30 > 0:02:32Now I'm going to cut this lid not quite in half,

0:02:32 > 0:02:35just past this little notch here where it interlocks,

0:02:35 > 0:02:37and with masking tape I'm going to stick the smaller

0:02:37 > 0:02:41bit inside the larger bit to create a jaw with a bit of an overbite.

0:02:44 > 0:02:45Now I'm going to create the snout.

0:02:45 > 0:02:49So I'm going to cut these little egg holders here, just two of them off.

0:02:51 > 0:02:54I'm going to add some teeth to the jaw by using

0:02:54 > 0:02:56the points from the inside of the egg box.

0:02:59 > 0:03:02I'll fold them in half just to make them a bit stronger

0:03:02 > 0:03:05and the ones in the middle I'm going to cut to be a bit shorter.

0:03:05 > 0:03:08With some masking tape I'm just going to stick them to the

0:03:08 > 0:03:10inside of the top part of the jaw.

0:03:14 > 0:03:17I'm going to stick the jaw to the underside of the box.

0:03:18 > 0:03:20This doesn't need to be super tidy

0:03:20 > 0:03:22because I'm going to cover it in a layer of papier-mache.

0:03:22 > 0:03:25You know how much I love papier-mache.

0:03:26 > 0:03:27Going to put the snout on.

0:03:29 > 0:03:33Now, from some thick card I've cut my dragon out some horns.

0:03:33 > 0:03:36I've drawn this little line on here, going to snap around

0:03:36 > 0:03:39and that flap is going to help me stick it to the detergent box.

0:03:44 > 0:03:46My basket's really starting to take shape now.

0:03:46 > 0:03:49I'm going to cover it in a few layers of papier-mache.

0:03:49 > 0:03:53So this layer of papier-mache will make the surfaces far neater,

0:03:53 > 0:03:55ready for painting, and it will strengthen the basket

0:03:55 > 0:03:59so it can take the wind resistance on the front of my scooter.

0:03:59 > 0:04:03I'm doing a few layers just to make sure it's nice and strong.

0:04:03 > 0:04:06All right, turn it over and start doing the other side.

0:04:10 > 0:04:14Now, I could wait for that to dry or I could use my Ninja skills.

0:04:14 > 0:04:15Hee-ya!

0:04:15 > 0:04:18Check that out. Now I can start painting.

0:04:18 > 0:04:20Got some acrylic paint here

0:04:20 > 0:04:22and I'm going to start by painting the horns white.

0:04:23 > 0:04:25And now the teeth.

0:04:26 > 0:04:29Now I'm going to paint the rest of the dragon's face orange.

0:04:32 > 0:04:33There we go, nice and orange.

0:04:33 > 0:04:37Now, if we want to add some detail I'll need to wait for it to dry.

0:04:37 > 0:04:39But I don't want to do that because I'm a Ninja.

0:04:39 > 0:04:41Hee-ya!

0:04:41 > 0:04:42Check it out.

0:04:42 > 0:04:45I want my basket to have a cool Chinese dragon vibe

0:04:45 > 0:04:47so I'm going to give it some tassels.

0:04:47 > 0:04:50And I'm going to do that by recycling some old plastic bags.

0:04:50 > 0:04:53So I'm going to fold them up like this

0:04:53 > 0:04:56so I can cut lots of strips in one go.

0:04:56 > 0:04:58Just cutting a nice a wave shape like this into it

0:04:58 > 0:05:00because I want them to flow back from his head.

0:05:00 > 0:05:03Now, I'm going to need lots more of these

0:05:03 > 0:05:05but luckily I've cut some already.

0:05:05 > 0:05:08Now, using double sided sticky tape I'm going to put a line down just

0:05:08 > 0:05:11the back of the basket here.

0:05:11 > 0:05:14Now I'm going to start laying up the plastic strips.

0:05:15 > 0:05:17Start with a layer of blue.

0:05:18 > 0:05:21Need to make sure you cover the whole piece of double-sided

0:05:21 > 0:05:25sticky tape, otherwise the other tassels may stick to it.

0:05:25 > 0:05:29This layer I'm going to do alternate blue and white pieces of plastic.

0:05:30 > 0:05:32I want it to be super vibrant

0:05:32 > 0:05:35so using lots of different colours of plastic really helps.

0:05:35 > 0:05:39Now, this does take quite a bit of time but it's already looking great.

0:05:39 > 0:05:42So I need to continue this all the way round the front

0:05:42 > 0:05:45of the basket, and the other side, so I'm going to use my Ninja skills.

0:05:45 > 0:05:46Hee-ya!

0:05:47 > 0:05:48Look at that!

0:05:48 > 0:05:51So I've carried the mane on to the front of the face and I've used

0:05:51 > 0:05:54smaller pieces of plastic to give it a bit of texture.

0:05:54 > 0:05:56And I've made some holes in the back of the box

0:05:56 > 0:05:57so I can attach it to my scooter.

0:05:57 > 0:06:00Now for the last finishing touches going to put some

0:06:00 > 0:06:01pupils in its eyes

0:06:02 > 0:06:04and add some detail on the horns.

0:06:06 > 0:06:09Can't wait to attach this to my scooter.

0:06:09 > 0:06:12Now, I'm using cable ties to tie it onto my scooter

0:06:12 > 0:06:13but string works just as well.

0:06:17 > 0:06:19One last finishing touch.

0:06:19 > 0:06:22I'm going to put my apple and my water bottle in there.

0:06:22 > 0:06:25You don't have to put your eggs all in one basket.

0:06:25 > 0:06:26Here's another idea.

0:06:28 > 0:06:31If you try to buy one of those in the shops it'll cost you a fortune.

0:06:42 > 0:06:43Art Ninja!

0:06:44 > 0:06:47Talking of fortunes, I love fortune cookies.

0:06:55 > 0:06:57Mmm?

0:06:57 > 0:06:58KNOCKING

0:06:59 > 0:07:00Must be the door.

0:07:02 > 0:07:04- Hi, Ricky!- Oh, hi, Dad.

0:07:04 > 0:07:06Ah, my fortune said I'd see a vision of my future.

0:07:06 > 0:07:09Well, this is how you'll end up looking in the future.

0:07:11 > 0:07:12That's unfortunate!

0:07:12 > 0:07:14Just kidding! What have you got there?

0:07:14 > 0:07:17Well, since it's lunchtime I thought we'd have pizza.

0:07:17 > 0:07:19Oh! That's nice but I've already eaten.

0:07:19 > 0:07:22Although I could use these boxes without the pizza.

0:07:24 > 0:07:26You wouldn't mind eating them for me, would you?

0:07:28 > 0:07:32In fact, just eat them over there, I've got art stuff everywhere.

0:07:32 > 0:07:35I'm going to use this pizza box as my canvas

0:07:35 > 0:07:38because we're going to make an abstract geometric picture

0:07:38 > 0:07:40inspired by the artist Sonia Delaunay.

0:07:40 > 0:07:43I'm going to need some cups, plates and other circular items,

0:07:43 > 0:07:45but, luckily, I'm in the right place.

0:07:50 > 0:07:54I just need to draw around these circular objects as they will

0:07:54 > 0:07:56form my abstract pattern.

0:07:56 > 0:08:00When it comes to geometric shapes Sonia Delaunay wins the cup.

0:08:02 > 0:08:05Bonjour, Ricky. Je m'appelle Sonia Delaunay.

0:08:06 > 0:08:08Sonia, I was just talking about you

0:08:08 > 0:08:11and saying how you loved painting abstract shapes.

0:08:11 > 0:08:13I did loads more than that, you know.

0:08:13 > 0:08:18I made collages, book bindings, murals and posters.

0:08:18 > 0:08:19Here's one of my works now.

0:08:19 > 0:08:24I also used my art to design fabrics, clothes and bags.

0:08:24 > 0:08:27You could say you had it in the bag(!)

0:08:27 > 0:08:28HE LAUGHS

0:08:28 > 0:08:31I don't get it and I don't want to get it.

0:08:31 > 0:08:33I'm off. Adieu!

0:08:34 > 0:08:38Never mind, I'll just get on with doing my Sonia-inspired art

0:08:38 > 0:08:39some justice.

0:08:41 > 0:08:44Start drawing round my circular objects.

0:08:44 > 0:08:47It's quite fun to have a look around the house, in the kitchen,

0:08:47 > 0:08:51and find different sized circular objects to use to make your picture.

0:08:51 > 0:08:54So these pencil lines are just going to be a guide for where I'm

0:08:54 > 0:08:55going to paint.

0:08:55 > 0:08:59I'm using Dad's pizza box as it's the perfect shape for a canvas.

0:08:59 > 0:09:02If you're putting circles inside of circles it's always best to

0:09:02 > 0:09:06start with the biggest one going from the outside inwards.

0:09:06 > 0:09:08It just helps you line up the centre.

0:09:09 > 0:09:13I'm just going to use a ruler to draw some straight lines to break

0:09:13 > 0:09:14up the circles.

0:09:16 > 0:09:20Then a couple just leaving off the edge of the box.

0:09:20 > 0:09:21As I'm using a pizza box

0:09:21 > 0:09:23and it's 3D, I'm going to let my

0:09:23 > 0:09:25circles overlap and go round the edges.

0:09:29 > 0:09:31Now I'm going to run off and get some paints.

0:09:32 > 0:09:34Got some brushes.

0:09:34 > 0:09:36I'm using very bright colours here

0:09:36 > 0:09:38because I want it to have maximum impact.

0:09:38 > 0:09:41I'm literally going to go round selecting different shapes

0:09:41 > 0:09:42and just filling them in.

0:09:42 > 0:09:46Just going to change colours now. That's a nice beige colour.

0:09:46 > 0:09:48Very neutral, and that will break up some of the more highly

0:09:48 > 0:09:50contrasting colours.

0:09:50 > 0:09:52I'm using a thick brush for the large areas

0:09:52 > 0:09:55and switching to a thin one to get in some more detail.

0:10:02 > 0:10:04Sonia Delaunay would be really happy with this one.

0:10:04 > 0:10:06There's so much colour going on.

0:10:07 > 0:10:10I'm making sure I don't put similar colours together.

0:10:10 > 0:10:13I want a bright picture that really pops out.

0:10:15 > 0:10:17And, finally, some orange.

0:10:23 > 0:10:26There you have it, my Sonia Delaunay pizza painting.

0:10:28 > 0:10:31You don't have to do a colour one. Why not try monochrome,

0:10:32 > 0:10:35which is just using black, white and grey?

0:10:36 > 0:10:38I wonder if Dad's finished with those pizzas yet.

0:10:52 > 0:10:54Hey, Dad. I saved you a fortune cookie.

0:10:57 > 0:11:02- It says 'You will enjoy an exotic surprise.'- Mmm?

0:11:02 > 0:11:05I think I've eaten too much pizza.

0:11:05 > 0:11:07Oh-oh! Dad burping coming.

0:11:07 > 0:11:15HE BURPS LOUDLY

0:11:20 > 0:11:23That wasn't very exotic and it smells.

0:11:23 > 0:11:25Imagine if mum had heard you do that?

0:11:25 > 0:11:27PHONE RINGS

0:11:27 > 0:11:28- On the phone:- Hi, Ricky. It's your mum.

0:11:28 > 0:11:32I'm just phoning to say that me and your dad have won a competition.

0:11:32 > 0:11:36And the prize is an exotic holiday to a dream destination.

0:11:36 > 0:11:37Jamaica?

0:11:37 > 0:11:39No, she entered the competition all by herself!

0:11:39 > 0:11:42I also wanted to say what else is on the horizon.

0:11:43 > 0:11:48An amazing watercolour picture, but don't carp on about it(!)

0:11:48 > 0:11:50This man definitely has some TV highlights.

0:11:50 > 0:11:54And it's time to add fire in your belly with a mythical beast.

0:11:55 > 0:11:59Oh, and by the way, tell your dad our holiday is in Hawaii.

0:11:59 > 0:12:00Byeee!

0:12:00 > 0:12:03I wonder Hawaii I haven't had any good fortune today(!)

0:12:03 > 0:12:05I'll try another fortune cookie.

0:12:07 > 0:12:10'You will be happy for someone close to you.'

0:12:10 > 0:12:12HAWAIIAN MUSIC PLAYS

0:12:12 > 0:12:14Well, it's not you, Dad.

0:12:14 > 0:12:17Enjoy your prize holiday without me. Bon voyage, etc!

0:12:17 > 0:12:19I will, bye!

0:12:23 > 0:12:26Here's a quick art tip of how to draw different facial expressions.

0:12:26 > 0:12:29I've got the same face drawn six times here.

0:12:29 > 0:12:32So I'm going to start with a neutral face to begin with.

0:12:32 > 0:12:35Relaxed eyebrows, relaxed mouth.

0:12:35 > 0:12:37Now we're going to move onto a happy face.

0:12:37 > 0:12:39So the eyebrows are going to raise up.

0:12:39 > 0:12:42And I'm going to give him a great big smile.

0:12:42 > 0:12:44Now I'm going to draw a sad face.

0:12:44 > 0:12:47So his eyebrows are going to turn into an upside-down V,

0:12:47 > 0:12:50and, of course, the smile needs to be turned up as well.

0:12:50 > 0:12:52He's not having a good day, that one, is he?

0:12:52 > 0:12:54This one's going to have an even worse day,

0:12:54 > 0:12:56because he's going to be angry.

0:12:56 > 0:12:59So I'm going to put that V up the right way on top of the eyes,

0:12:59 > 0:13:03and the upside-down smile is now going to be full of teeth.

0:13:05 > 0:13:06This guy is going to be surprised.

0:13:06 > 0:13:08So his mouth's going to be more of an O shape

0:13:08 > 0:13:10and the eyebrows are going to be raised on his head.

0:13:10 > 0:13:12Finally, this one's going to be worried.

0:13:12 > 0:13:15So the eyebrows are leaning in but they're not meeting.

0:13:15 > 0:13:19And the mouth is a squiggly line, all over the place.

0:13:19 > 0:13:21There we go. Quick art tip.

0:13:27 > 0:13:30Put your art where you mouth is and have a go yourself!

0:13:35 > 0:13:38I don't often have time to stop and take in my art

0:13:38 > 0:13:42unless it's stop frame animation like this.

0:13:42 > 0:13:43Hey, you all right, Rich?

0:13:43 > 0:13:44Hi.

0:13:47 > 0:13:52Way! Cool dance moves. What's that?

0:13:58 > 0:14:02I've heard of dancing on the ceiling but that's ridiculous.

0:14:02 > 0:14:05To make this laidback animation you'll need a tablet or smart

0:14:05 > 0:14:09phone with animation app, some interesting terrain and a friend.

0:14:11 > 0:14:13I'm cheating a little here, this is my friend, Claire,

0:14:13 > 0:14:16and she's a contemporary dancer.

0:14:16 > 0:14:19And you can put it together in just three Ninja moves.

0:14:19 > 0:14:21Ninja move number one.

0:14:21 > 0:14:23It's time to look at our world a little differently

0:14:23 > 0:14:27because we aren't going to be animating on our usual plane.

0:14:32 > 0:14:33Look for interesting areas on the ground.

0:14:33 > 0:14:36Things that don't seem exciting from this perspective might be

0:14:36 > 0:14:37great to animate on.

0:14:37 > 0:14:40And remember, don't worry about gravity as your character can

0:14:40 > 0:14:42jump really high, or even fly,

0:14:42 > 0:14:44because they're not really in the air.

0:14:46 > 0:14:47Ninja move number two.

0:14:47 > 0:14:50Now you've got interesting places to animate it's time to

0:14:50 > 0:14:52thinking about your choreography.

0:14:52 > 0:14:55Work with your animation model to work out what you can do.

0:14:55 > 0:14:58This is where my model really comes into her own.

0:15:06 > 0:15:07Ninja move number three.

0:15:07 > 0:15:09It's time to start shooting.

0:15:09 > 0:15:11So what I've done, I've attached my smartphone, with animation

0:15:11 > 0:15:13app, to this fun little rig here.

0:15:13 > 0:15:16Now if you don't have fancy rigs like me you can

0:15:16 > 0:15:17simply use a selfie stick.

0:15:47 > 0:15:49OK. We've danced around the park.

0:15:49 > 0:15:52We've shot all our frames and I've added some cool sound effects

0:15:52 > 0:15:55so I think it's time to take a look at our mini masterpiece.

0:16:11 > 0:16:14I think you've got some Ninja dance moves.

0:16:17 > 0:16:19- Hey, Ricky!- Hey!

0:16:19 > 0:16:21Oh! It's Radzi and Lindsey.

0:16:21 > 0:16:23Hope they haven't got sticky back plastic... again!

0:16:23 > 0:16:26Hey, guys, what have you got?

0:16:26 > 0:16:29We want to know can you make anything using this bucket?

0:16:29 > 0:16:32As I said before, not without a Blue Peter badge.

0:16:32 > 0:16:34Oh! That's rude!

0:16:34 > 0:16:36Has anyone seen my bucket?

0:16:37 > 0:16:38Can you make art with salt?

0:16:39 > 0:16:41Sounds interesting. I choose you!

0:16:41 > 0:16:43Yay!

0:16:43 > 0:16:45- What's your name, mate?- Anton.

0:16:46 > 0:16:47Hmm. Art with salt?

0:16:47 > 0:16:51I can add some salt to watercolour paint and make an awesome picture.

0:16:51 > 0:16:53Let me just grab my things.

0:16:54 > 0:16:58I've got some nice watercolour paints. Some water, obvs.

0:16:58 > 0:17:02Bit of paper, and, of course, trusty salt.

0:17:02 > 0:17:04What's the picture going to be of?

0:17:04 > 0:17:08I think it's going to be something fishy, maybe a saltwater carp!

0:17:08 > 0:17:12I'm going to start by drawing myself a little rough outline.

0:17:12 > 0:17:14Do a little line there.

0:17:16 > 0:17:18Right, I've done my rough outline of shapes.

0:17:18 > 0:17:19Right, I'm going to get a brush

0:17:19 > 0:17:23and I'm going to start with just wetting the paper around the fish.

0:17:23 > 0:17:26Currently being careful so it doesn't go where the fish are.

0:17:26 > 0:17:28Right, so I've wetted all around the fish now

0:17:28 > 0:17:30and I'm going to add a little bit of colour.

0:17:30 > 0:17:32So I'm going to go with the blue to begin with.

0:17:32 > 0:17:35I'm just dabbing it on so the water helps the colour flow everywhere.

0:17:35 > 0:17:37It looks more authentic.

0:17:37 > 0:17:40You need to use water colour paper which helps give the painting

0:17:40 > 0:17:41a unique style.

0:17:43 > 0:17:46So I'm going to put a bit of water in the fish area.

0:17:46 > 0:17:47OK.

0:17:49 > 0:17:51So I'm just adding some orange to the fish now.

0:17:56 > 0:17:58I'm being careful not to paint right up to the lines of my fish

0:17:58 > 0:18:01because otherwise the colours run together.

0:18:01 > 0:18:05And now I'm going to add some red and yellow for a bit of contrast

0:18:05 > 0:18:07and some light and darks.

0:18:12 > 0:18:14Yeah, just adding a few light bits into the fish

0:18:14 > 0:18:17so they look like they're shimmering under the water.

0:18:18 > 0:18:21Just adding some more darker bits of blue in there.

0:18:21 > 0:18:24Now I think it's time to add the trusty salt. OK.

0:18:25 > 0:18:26Here we go.

0:18:30 > 0:18:32The salt, when it hits the page,

0:18:32 > 0:18:34start soaking up all the water in the ink.

0:18:34 > 0:18:35Wow!

0:18:37 > 0:18:39This creates a lovely texture.

0:18:39 > 0:18:42Now I'm just going to blow a bit of that salt away.

0:18:43 > 0:18:46With a dry, small brush I'm going to add the eyes.

0:18:51 > 0:18:53Usually we'd have to wait for this to dry

0:18:53 > 0:18:55but I'm going to use my Ninja skills.

0:18:55 > 0:18:57Hee-ya!

0:18:57 > 0:19:00It's looking great. I'm just going to shake off the salt.

0:19:01 > 0:19:03- You ready to see it, dude?- Yeah.

0:19:03 > 0:19:05What do you think?

0:19:05 > 0:19:07It's awesome Ricky! I give it a ten.

0:19:08 > 0:19:11I think it's so good it deserves a frame.

0:19:14 > 0:19:17Oh, that really looks great. Thanks for your suggestion, Anton.

0:19:17 > 0:19:19- Bye! - Have a good day. Bye-bye.

0:19:30 > 0:19:36Hey! You there! What's black, white and red all over?

0:19:36 > 0:19:39Me, on a sunbed, reading a book.

0:19:40 > 0:19:44And so I don't lose my place, I need a handy animal bookmark.

0:19:44 > 0:19:49Don't know about lose your page, but you've definitely lost the plot!

0:19:49 > 0:19:50And here's how you make it.

0:19:52 > 0:19:54Take an envelope.

0:19:54 > 0:19:59Open it up and fold it in half. Cut along to make it square.

0:19:59 > 0:20:02With your square piece fold this flap inside itself.

0:20:05 > 0:20:06Nearly there.

0:20:08 > 0:20:11There. Next, cut two white circles.

0:20:13 > 0:20:18Using glue stick them to the top of your left over envelope. One...

0:20:20 > 0:20:21Two.

0:20:21 > 0:20:24Cut around them leaving half a centimetre border.

0:20:24 > 0:20:27Snip, snip.

0:20:30 > 0:20:34Now stick your two circles to the top of your folded envelope.

0:20:34 > 0:20:35These will be the eyes.

0:20:38 > 0:20:42Now cut out a long red strip.

0:20:42 > 0:20:45Take a pen and roll the paper around the pen.

0:20:45 > 0:20:48This will make a curly whirly tongue.

0:20:49 > 0:20:53Using glue, stick this to the inside of your envelope.

0:20:55 > 0:20:56BOING! BOING!

0:20:56 > 0:20:59With your pen, draw on the pupils.

0:21:01 > 0:21:03And nostrils.

0:21:03 > 0:21:08Take a book and slide your animal bookmark on the page you want

0:21:08 > 0:21:09to mark.

0:21:09 > 0:21:13I've chosen a frog so I know when I've 'reddit'!

0:21:13 > 0:21:15HE LAUGHS

0:21:16 > 0:21:17KNOCK AT DOOR

0:21:17 > 0:21:19I'd better hop to it(!)

0:21:20 > 0:21:22- Hi, Gavin.- Hi, Ricky.

0:21:22 > 0:21:26I was wondering can we try the new local Chinese takeaway?

0:21:26 > 0:21:27- I've already tried it.- Oh.

0:21:27 > 0:21:29It's magic.

0:21:29 > 0:21:30What's this?

0:21:32 > 0:21:36It's a map but it doesn't lead to the Magic Dragon,

0:21:36 > 0:21:38it leads to the Great Wall of Bristol!

0:21:40 > 0:21:41Let's go check it out.

0:21:42 > 0:21:43Wait for me!

0:21:54 > 0:21:55Ninja skills!

0:21:57 > 0:21:58What he said!

0:21:59 > 0:22:02So, this is it Gav, the Great Wall of Bristol.

0:22:02 > 0:22:04It doesn't look that great.

0:22:04 > 0:22:07No, it's a bit old and crumbly but the owner has asked me

0:22:07 > 0:22:10to decorate it for him Ninja style.

0:22:10 > 0:22:12So, shall we get our Ninja on?

0:22:12 > 0:22:14Dude, that's my line.

0:22:24 > 0:22:27- Art Ninja!- Art Ninja!

0:22:32 > 0:22:35So, Gav, we're literally going to breathe life into this old wall

0:22:35 > 0:22:39and all we need is a stills camera, a tripod

0:22:39 > 0:22:42and the wild imaginations of these two, Rich and Matt.

0:22:44 > 0:22:46Trust me on this one.

0:22:46 > 0:22:48Now we've had special permission to paint this wall

0:22:48 > 0:22:50and I'm going to be wearing this...

0:22:50 > 0:22:51HE MUMBLES

0:22:51 > 0:22:53..for protection.

0:22:53 > 0:22:56We've made a stencil out of card which we're going to paint in,

0:22:56 > 0:22:59,and move along the wall, so it's the same size each time.

0:23:08 > 0:23:13It's really detailed but it does drag on a bit.

0:23:13 > 0:23:15Funny you should say that, drag on, dragon?

0:23:18 > 0:23:20Oh, yeah!

0:23:20 > 0:23:22That's looking great, guys. Are you ready to capture it?

0:23:22 > 0:23:26Capture it? You can't capture a dragon.

0:23:26 > 0:23:28Yes, we can. This is where the camera and the tripod

0:23:28 > 0:23:32comes into play and where the art comes into its own.

0:23:32 > 0:23:33OK, guys, jump out the way.

0:23:35 > 0:23:38We're using a tripod because it's really important to keep

0:23:38 > 0:23:41the camera steady, to make the animation smooth.

0:23:41 > 0:23:43Got it. OK, guys, back to work.

0:24:08 > 0:24:12That's the second picture, so it's time to take the second photograph.

0:24:12 > 0:24:16Now we're going to keep painting pictures and taking photographs and

0:24:16 > 0:24:19at the end edit them all together to make an awesome animation.

0:24:19 > 0:24:21So, cue montage. Come on boys.

0:24:23 > 0:24:26We're painting over the previous frames of the animation,

0:24:26 > 0:24:29so it looks like the dragon's moving forwards.

0:24:45 > 0:24:48Hey, Gav, watch that dragon fly.

0:24:48 > 0:24:50Dragonfly? I thought it was a dragon?

0:25:08 > 0:25:10Last frame here.

0:25:10 > 0:25:11Now I'm going to move the camera.

0:25:11 > 0:25:14- New shot for me. - Ricky, do you want me to move these?

0:25:14 > 0:25:16No, mate, you can leave them right where they are

0:25:16 > 0:25:18because in a minute we'll have that dragon over a barrel.

0:25:18 > 0:25:20Let's get back to work.

0:25:52 > 0:25:54OK, guys.

0:25:54 > 0:25:57I'm taking charge of the camera, you're in charge of the last bit.

0:25:57 > 0:25:58Get spraying!

0:26:13 > 0:26:14That's it guys. It's looking great.

0:26:14 > 0:26:17I think it's time to take the last frame.

0:26:17 > 0:26:19Gavin, you come in and stand there just by the wall,

0:26:19 > 0:26:22that's it, by the dragon, so then you can be in the final film.

0:26:22 > 0:26:25Oh, brilliant, thanks, Ricky. You won't regret it.

0:26:25 > 0:26:27You might.

0:26:27 > 0:26:31Take your hat and that off. Let's see your pretty face.

0:26:31 > 0:26:33- Right.- Final picture.

0:26:34 > 0:26:38And with a little bit of Ninja Magic, here's the final result.

0:26:55 > 0:26:57Wow! That Dragon really is a, kind of, life of its own.

0:26:57 > 0:27:00He's still smouldering! Somebody put him out!

0:27:00 > 0:27:01With pleasure!

0:27:05 > 0:27:07Good thing you guys were here to help out with the dragon.

0:27:07 > 0:27:09Weren't we lucky, Gav?

0:27:09 > 0:27:11GAV SIGHS

0:27:17 > 0:27:22Thanks to Matt, Rich and Gav that truly became a great wall.

0:27:22 > 0:27:25Today has taught me a valuable art Ninja lesson,

0:27:25 > 0:27:28if you want to make dragon art that's cool you'll need mates,

0:27:28 > 0:27:30some paint and a drab old wall.

0:27:31 > 0:27:34Gav's a great sport getting wet like that.

0:27:36 > 0:27:39Let's hope he forgets to get his own back.

0:27:42 > 0:27:44Sh!

0:27:44 > 0:27:45SPLASH!

0:27:45 > 0:27:47Aaaargh!
