0:00:03 > 0:00:05I'm Ricky. I live in Bristol.

0:00:05 > 0:00:10By day, I work as an animator, which is lucky cos I love art.

0:00:10 > 0:00:13I live for art. I even dream of art.

0:00:13 > 0:00:15I draw.

0:00:15 > 0:00:18I paint.

0:00:18 > 0:00:19I make things.

0:00:21 > 0:00:22I hang out with my mates.

0:00:22 > 0:00:23Gavin,

0:00:23 > 0:00:24Michelle,

0:00:24 > 0:00:25Rich

0:00:25 > 0:00:27and Sarah.

0:00:27 > 0:00:29Most importantly, I make ninja moves.

0:00:29 > 0:00:31Some people call me the...

0:00:32 > 0:00:34..Art Ninja!

0:00:35 > 0:00:39Today I'll show you how to use old, socks to make a cute critter,

0:00:39 > 0:00:42create a mobile inspired by Calder

0:00:42 > 0:00:45and I make art that's fit for a mummy.

0:00:45 > 0:00:46Because today it's...

0:00:47 > 0:00:49..Day of the Baby.

0:00:52 > 0:00:54RICKY YAWNS

0:00:54 > 0:00:56It's a new day. Time to get my ninja on.

0:00:57 > 0:00:59And my clothes.

0:01:13 > 0:01:15- Hey, Dad!- Here you go, son.

0:01:15 > 0:01:17- What's this?- It's a hat.

0:01:17 > 0:01:18It's a bit small.

0:01:18 > 0:01:20That's because it belongs to your niece, Vicky.

0:01:20 > 0:01:23Mum wondered if you'd look after her.

0:01:23 > 0:01:26- Say hello to Uncle Ricky, Vicky. - BABY COOS

0:01:26 > 0:01:28But I have no idea how to look after a baby.

0:01:28 > 0:01:30See you later, Ricky.

0:01:30 > 0:01:31BABY CRIES

0:01:31 > 0:01:35Don't cry. Don't cry. Don't cry. Sh, sh, sh. It's OK. Hello.

0:01:35 > 0:01:36Oh, just wait there.

0:01:38 > 0:01:40I don't have any toys to calm the baby down

0:01:40 > 0:01:42and this is no place for a baby.

0:01:42 > 0:01:43I mean, look!

0:01:43 > 0:01:45I got a pair of my old socks lying around.

0:01:45 > 0:01:47It has given me an idea, though.

0:01:47 > 0:01:49I could make

0:01:49 > 0:01:51the Art Ninja cute critter.

0:01:51 > 0:01:56Just going to take one of these socks and turn it inside out.

0:01:56 > 0:01:59We're going to lay it down with the heel facing the ceiling.

0:01:59 > 0:02:03And with some scissors, I'm going to cut down towards the heel.

0:02:03 > 0:02:06Going to stop about that blue line there.

0:02:06 > 0:02:09I'm going to make that strip about 2cm wide.

0:02:09 > 0:02:11And the same on the left.

0:02:13 > 0:02:16These little strips in the middle, you cut those out.

0:02:20 > 0:02:22I'm going to sew along these edges here

0:02:22 > 0:02:25and these are going to become the ears of the cute critter.

0:02:25 > 0:02:28But to help hold them in place, I'm going to use some pins.

0:02:28 > 0:02:29Just makes it easier to sew.

0:02:32 > 0:02:34Got some thread here.

0:02:34 > 0:02:36I've doubled it over, like this.

0:02:36 > 0:02:38Tied a knot in the end.

0:02:38 > 0:02:41Now I'm going to start sewing along the line that I've pinned here.

0:02:41 > 0:02:43You need to be careful if you're using a needle,

0:02:43 > 0:02:45or get an adult to help you.

0:02:45 > 0:02:49And needles are definitely something babies should not be using.

0:02:49 > 0:02:51I'm just doing a very simple sort of tacking stitch,

0:02:51 > 0:02:53just going over the edge.

0:02:56 > 0:02:58Keep sewing.

0:02:58 > 0:03:00Now I'm going to take out the rest of my pins.

0:03:00 > 0:03:02The reason I sewed it inside out is cos when I turn it back

0:03:02 > 0:03:05round the right way, the stitching will be really tidy.

0:03:06 > 0:03:08There we go. Now I'm going to stuff these ears

0:03:08 > 0:03:10with a bit of toy stuffing.

0:03:10 > 0:03:13And you can get this stuff from any good craft shop

0:03:13 > 0:03:16or you can use cotton wool or old socks or anything soft.

0:03:16 > 0:03:18Push it in the best you can with your fingers and thumb.

0:03:18 > 0:03:21Sometimes it's easier to use the end of a paintbrush.

0:03:24 > 0:03:25Great.

0:03:25 > 0:03:28Now I'm going to get a really big bit like this

0:03:28 > 0:03:29and this stuffing's going to be for the head,

0:03:29 > 0:03:31so I'm just going to start stuffing it up in here.

0:03:31 > 0:03:33Now, the reason I've used a sock in this way

0:03:33 > 0:03:36is because the heel becomes a perfect face.

0:03:36 > 0:03:37Look at that.

0:03:38 > 0:03:40Put this to one side for a second.

0:03:40 > 0:03:42I'm going to start making the arms.

0:03:42 > 0:03:45So, with my other sock, I'm going to cut about 2cm

0:03:45 > 0:03:47away from where the heel ends.

0:03:49 > 0:03:51I'm going to cut all the way down here

0:03:51 > 0:03:53to the pink elasticated part of the sock -

0:03:53 > 0:03:55about 2cm wide again.

0:03:55 > 0:03:58And again on the other side.

0:03:58 > 0:03:59This is going to need stitching,

0:03:59 > 0:04:01so I'm going to use my ninja skills.

0:04:03 > 0:04:05There we go. Now you just stuff that.

0:04:07 > 0:04:09Now I need to sew those up to keep all the stuffing inside

0:04:09 > 0:04:12and it's easier to do that by turning it back inside out.

0:04:13 > 0:04:15The actual elasticated bit now,

0:04:15 > 0:04:16just fold it down.

0:04:16 > 0:04:19This is to tidy it up, keep it nice and strong.

0:04:19 > 0:04:20Now I'm going to sew that up.

0:04:23 > 0:04:24Snippy, snippy.

0:04:25 > 0:04:29Turn it back in the right way and these are the arms.

0:04:29 > 0:04:31This will hold in the stuffing in the head

0:04:31 > 0:04:34as well as being, like, the neck and shoulders.

0:04:34 > 0:04:38Now I'm going to get another big bit of toy stuffing to make the body.

0:04:38 > 0:04:41That's the belly, there.

0:04:41 > 0:04:43I'm just going to sew along underneath

0:04:43 > 0:04:45to hold all the stuffing in.

0:04:45 > 0:04:47Tie that off again.

0:04:47 > 0:04:49Now I'm going to make some legs.

0:04:49 > 0:04:52Snip up here again about 2cm from the side

0:04:52 > 0:04:56and I'm going to leave a tiny gap before I get to the stitching,

0:04:56 > 0:04:58so I've got a bit of material that I can fold in and stitch

0:04:58 > 0:05:02and I can cut those two flaps out of the middle.

0:05:02 > 0:05:04I need to sew and stuff as I go along with these legs.

0:05:04 > 0:05:06Because I can't turn them inside out,

0:05:06 > 0:05:09I'm going try and roll in the edges and do a little hidden stitch.

0:05:09 > 0:05:12BABY COOS

0:05:12 > 0:05:13You OK over there, Vicky?

0:05:20 > 0:05:24There you go. It's looking great, but it needs a face,

0:05:24 > 0:05:26so I've cut out a few bits of felt here.

0:05:26 > 0:05:28Now I'm just going to stitch them on.

0:05:34 > 0:05:35Now for the star eye.

0:05:37 > 0:05:38Now for the mouth.

0:05:42 > 0:05:43There we go.

0:05:43 > 0:05:45I think it looks great.

0:05:45 > 0:05:46My cute critter.

0:05:52 > 0:05:55I think baby Vicky will love that.

0:05:55 > 0:05:57You don't have to make yours gnarly like mine.

0:05:57 > 0:05:59You could try these other great ideas.

0:06:03 > 0:06:06BABY VICKY CRIES

0:06:06 > 0:06:08Baby Vicky sounds a bit grizzly.

0:06:08 > 0:06:11I'd better go and amuse her.

0:06:11 > 0:06:13Hello, baby Vicky. Hello.

0:06:13 > 0:06:15It's Uncle Ricky. Here's the toy.

0:06:15 > 0:06:19Here's the toy. Here comes the toy. Yeah. Where's it gone?

0:06:19 > 0:06:20Where's it gone?

0:06:20 > 0:06:22Where has it gone?

0:06:22 > 0:06:24BABY VICKY LAUGHS

0:06:25 > 0:06:27How about

0:06:27 > 0:06:29comfort blanket?

0:06:29 > 0:06:31Blanket.

0:06:31 > 0:06:33Did she just say "blanket"?

0:06:35 > 0:06:38Here's a quick art tip of how to draw a baby.

0:06:38 > 0:06:42So, I'm going to start by giving it a nice big head,

0:06:42 > 0:06:43large eyes.

0:06:43 > 0:06:46Babies always seem to have big eyes.

0:06:47 > 0:06:49And some eyelashes.

0:06:49 > 0:06:51This just makes your baby look really cute.

0:06:54 > 0:06:56Let's draw a little nose,

0:06:56 > 0:06:57tiny little ears.

0:06:58 > 0:07:00Now I'm going to draw the dummy.

0:07:00 > 0:07:03That's just a circle with a kind of horseshoe shape on top of it.

0:07:04 > 0:07:06Have a smile behind it.

0:07:07 > 0:07:09Now a little bit of curly hair.

0:07:09 > 0:07:11I draw the body quite small.

0:07:11 > 0:07:15Arms outstretched, maybe for a little hug.

0:07:15 > 0:07:18And the bottom part, I'm going to do a big nappy

0:07:18 > 0:07:21and then I'm going to have the little legs

0:07:21 > 0:07:22pointing out

0:07:22 > 0:07:24with the feet pointing upwards,

0:07:24 > 0:07:26so it looks like they're sitting down.

0:07:28 > 0:07:30There you go. A quick art tip.

0:07:35 > 0:07:37Don't be a baby. Have a go yourself.

0:07:40 > 0:07:42BABY CRIES THEN LAUGHS

0:07:43 > 0:07:45It doesn't seem like baby Vicky's getting comfort

0:07:45 > 0:07:47from the blanket any more.

0:07:47 > 0:07:50I'm going to make her something that will help her get some sleep.

0:07:50 > 0:07:51I'll need tissue paper.

0:07:53 > 0:07:54Ninja skills.

0:07:54 > 0:07:56And some wire.

0:07:56 > 0:07:59You can get this online or from a DIY shop.

0:07:59 > 0:08:02I'm going to use these to make a mobile inspired by the sculptor

0:08:02 > 0:08:04Alexander Calder.

0:08:05 > 0:08:07I'm going to wrap this piece round a glue stick

0:08:07 > 0:08:09so I get a teardrop shape.

0:08:09 > 0:08:11Going to hold that in place with some masking tape.

0:08:11 > 0:08:14I'm going to wrap this one round...

0:08:14 > 0:08:15How about a hole punch?

0:08:15 > 0:08:17Nice triangle shape, there.

0:08:21 > 0:08:22Right.

0:08:22 > 0:08:25Now I'm going to take my tissue paper

0:08:25 > 0:08:27and I'm going cover it,

0:08:27 > 0:08:30just one side. Get some glue stick.

0:08:30 > 0:08:32And now I'm going to put my wire

0:08:32 > 0:08:35just on top of it and fold the tissue paper over

0:08:35 > 0:08:37so it sandwiches it in between.

0:08:37 > 0:08:39Little trick here.

0:08:39 > 0:08:42Use a brush, just try and push it into all the gaps,

0:08:42 > 0:08:44right up flush with the wire.

0:08:44 > 0:08:47That's one. Let's do the same thing with this one.

0:08:47 > 0:08:49I'm going to do it with some orange this time.

0:08:51 > 0:08:52Look at those.

0:08:52 > 0:08:54Right, now I'm going to cut off the excess.

0:08:56 > 0:08:59I'm cutting quite close to the wire.

0:08:59 > 0:09:01Now for the green one.

0:09:01 > 0:09:04Just tidying up those edges, rolling them in.

0:09:06 > 0:09:09I'm going to roll this green one around a pen

0:09:09 > 0:09:12to give it a little curly tail, like a spring.

0:09:14 > 0:09:16So, I've got a tight spring there.

0:09:16 > 0:09:19I'm going to do a more loose curve on this orange one.

0:09:19 > 0:09:21I'm going to need plenty more of these

0:09:21 > 0:09:23if I'm going to make a fun mobile for baby Vicky.

0:09:23 > 0:09:24I'll Ninja some more.

0:09:26 > 0:09:28Wow. Ninja skills.

0:09:29 > 0:09:32Now I need to make the main frame to hang all these little bits off.

0:09:32 > 0:09:34So, I've got some longer bits of wire here.

0:09:34 > 0:09:37I need to find the centre, where they balance.

0:09:37 > 0:09:38So, there.

0:09:39 > 0:09:41Got a couple of lolly sticks.

0:09:41 > 0:09:43I've pre-painted them white so they match the mobile.

0:09:43 > 0:09:46Find the centre there. Now I'm going to tape them on.

0:09:49 > 0:09:51Now the other one. There we go.

0:09:55 > 0:09:57Now I'm going to cross them over.

0:09:57 > 0:09:59I'm going to hold them together with a little bit of sticky tack

0:09:59 > 0:10:02and then tie them together with some cotton thread.

0:10:02 > 0:10:06And now I can hang it up and assemble the mobile.

0:10:06 > 0:10:08There we are. That's a nice level,

0:10:08 > 0:10:11so I can stick on my separate little coloured bits here.

0:10:11 > 0:10:14I'm attaching these, just with a little bit of masking tape.

0:10:16 > 0:10:18Now, a good mobile is a balanced mobile,

0:10:18 > 0:10:21so when you let go of one side like this, it'll be all lopsided.

0:10:21 > 0:10:24So go to the opposite end of that wire

0:10:24 > 0:10:28and add another piece there, so it balances out.

0:10:28 > 0:10:30There we go. Perfectly balanced.

0:10:30 > 0:10:32Wow, Ricky, I'm impressed.

0:10:32 > 0:10:34You must be sculptor Alexander Calder

0:10:34 > 0:10:36on baby Vicky's comfort blanket.

0:10:36 > 0:10:38The very same.

0:10:38 > 0:10:40I take some comfort in you popping by.

0:10:40 > 0:10:43I had to, since I was the creator of the mobile -

0:10:43 > 0:10:46sculptures made with delicately suspended shapes

0:10:46 > 0:10:50that move in response to touch or to air currents.

0:10:50 > 0:10:53Talking of which, I must fly like the wind. Bye.

0:10:54 > 0:10:56He's very mobile.

0:10:57 > 0:10:59Let's get some more on here.

0:11:03 > 0:11:05It's really starting to come together now.

0:11:05 > 0:11:07I've got a few pieces left

0:11:07 > 0:11:10and I want to make sure that the colours are contrasting,

0:11:10 > 0:11:13so I'm going to keep the same ones away from each other.

0:11:20 > 0:11:23Check it out! My Alexander Calder-inspired mobile.

0:11:28 > 0:11:31You can customise yours to your own design.

0:11:31 > 0:11:33I wonder how the baby's getting on.

0:11:33 > 0:11:34BABY BREAKS WIND

0:11:34 > 0:11:36Ugh. I can guess how.

0:11:50 > 0:11:52RICKY SNIFFS

0:11:52 > 0:11:53You pong!

0:11:54 > 0:11:56Better change her

0:11:56 > 0:11:59with some Ninja skills.

0:11:59 > 0:12:02Oh, so much poo.

0:12:02 > 0:12:04Poo.

0:12:04 > 0:12:05What did you say?

0:12:05 > 0:12:07BABY COOS

0:12:07 > 0:12:09Oh. Must be hearing things.

0:12:09 > 0:12:12Anyway, you're all clean, but I'm not.

0:12:12 > 0:12:13I must get washed. Ugh.

0:12:16 > 0:12:17Poo!

0:12:22 > 0:12:25Since baby Vicky's been here, I haven't stopped moving.

0:12:25 > 0:12:26A bit like this picture.

0:12:32 > 0:12:34GURGLING AND GROWLING

0:12:38 > 0:12:41Don't worry, mate. It's just an animation.

0:12:41 > 0:12:43And I alphaBET you want to know how to do this one.

0:12:43 > 0:12:46So, you can make this cool little animation with

0:12:46 > 0:12:48some magnetic letters,

0:12:48 > 0:12:51a fridge or a magnetic surface,

0:12:51 > 0:12:53and a tablet with animation app.

0:12:53 > 0:12:56And you can put it together in just three ninja moves.

0:12:58 > 0:12:59Ninja move number one.

0:12:59 > 0:13:01You need to decide what you want to do.

0:13:01 > 0:13:03Now, with my letters,

0:13:03 > 0:13:06I want to make a monster out of the word, "monster"

0:13:06 > 0:13:09so I'm going to use an M, and O, an N,

0:13:09 > 0:13:11an S, a T, an E and an R.

0:13:11 > 0:13:15Well, I could use the two round ones as, like, eyes

0:13:15 > 0:13:18and then maybe the M and the N

0:13:18 > 0:13:20because they've got bits like this,

0:13:20 > 0:13:23like teeth, they can join together and make the mouth.

0:13:23 > 0:13:28I'm going to use the R to become like a little nose.

0:13:28 > 0:13:29And then these bits will kind of,

0:13:29 > 0:13:32I don't know, they'll kind just be extra bits on the top,

0:13:32 > 0:13:35maybe like little antlers for the monster.

0:13:35 > 0:13:37So, you need to work out what you want to do and then experiment

0:13:37 > 0:13:40using different letters to make different facial features.

0:13:40 > 0:13:42Ninja move number two.

0:13:42 > 0:13:45Start shooting. Now, this is a really quick animation to do.

0:13:45 > 0:13:47So, start with the word

0:13:47 > 0:13:50and then transform it into the monster or creature you've designed.

0:13:50 > 0:13:53In order to make the mouth look bigger, I'm using multiples of the

0:13:53 > 0:13:58same letter. I'm using Ms, Ws, Ns, Hs

0:13:58 > 0:14:00and a couple of Ls for fangs.

0:14:00 > 0:14:01And finally,

0:14:01 > 0:14:02Ninja move number three.

0:14:02 > 0:14:04Right, here's a really fun trick.

0:14:04 > 0:14:06I want to give this more impact

0:14:06 > 0:14:09and I'm going to use a technique called screen shake.

0:14:09 > 0:14:11So, I'm going to move the tablet each time

0:14:11 > 0:14:14just a little bit, like this, around and maybe angle it

0:14:14 > 0:14:16up and down slightly around the actual face

0:14:16 > 0:14:19and it'll make it look like the roar is so loud

0:14:19 > 0:14:21it's making the room shake like an earthquake.

0:14:21 > 0:14:22Hopefully.

0:14:33 > 0:14:36Hey, dude. I've sliced and diced the animation.

0:14:36 > 0:14:38I've added the extra clips of you, thank you very much.

0:14:38 > 0:14:42- No worries.- I think it's time to take a look at our mini masterpiece.

0:14:48 > 0:14:50GROWLING

0:14:55 > 0:14:57GROWLING

0:14:57 > 0:14:59Grr!

0:14:59 > 0:15:00WHIMPERING

0:15:01 > 0:15:03Hey, dude, you're a bit of a monster, yourself.

0:15:03 > 0:15:06What can I say?

0:15:06 > 0:15:07Well, what can you say?

0:15:07 > 0:15:08Grr.

0:15:08 > 0:15:10THEY LAUGH

0:15:13 > 0:15:15PHONE RINGS

0:15:15 > 0:15:17'Hi, Ricky. It's your mum.

0:15:17 > 0:15:19'If you do get a moment between feeds and changes,

0:15:19 > 0:15:21'here's what to do.

0:15:21 > 0:15:24'Think outside the box with this pixel head.

0:15:24 > 0:15:27'Don't flip the channel when Ad Man comes on.

0:15:27 > 0:15:31'And "loo" knows what else might happen with this toilet paper?

0:15:31 > 0:15:35'Anyway, must go. Dad looks like he needs burping.'

0:15:35 > 0:15:37I bet he does.

0:15:37 > 0:15:39Well, baby Vicky's all fed

0:15:39 > 0:15:40and she looks all sleepy, too.

0:15:43 > 0:15:45Ricky, Ricky, Ricky!

0:15:45 > 0:15:46Sh!

0:15:46 > 0:15:48Baby Vicky's asleep!

0:15:48 > 0:15:52Ricky, can you make art with a plastic box?

0:15:52 > 0:15:54Keep a lid on it. I'm busy.

0:15:54 > 0:15:56- BOTH:- Aw!

0:15:56 > 0:15:59Hi, Ricky. It's Shari from Dixie.

0:15:59 > 0:16:01I was wondering if you can make something with this.

0:16:01 > 0:16:02HORN PARPS

0:16:02 > 0:16:05You may be from Dixie, but that's a bit trixie.

0:16:05 > 0:16:06HORN PARPS

0:16:06 > 0:16:07Hey, what's this guy got?

0:16:07 > 0:16:09Hey, Ricky, what can you make with a cardboard box?

0:16:09 > 0:16:11That's more like it. I pick you.

0:16:11 > 0:16:13Yay!

0:16:13 > 0:16:16I'm going to use a cardboard box to make a pixelated mask,

0:16:16 > 0:16:17like in a computer game.

0:16:17 > 0:16:20I'll just go grab some things.

0:16:20 > 0:16:21Got my box.

0:16:21 > 0:16:23Got some colouring pencils.

0:16:23 > 0:16:27And just to lay out my design, I got myself some gridded paper here.

0:16:27 > 0:16:30And I'm going to use it to do my design of a face.

0:16:30 > 0:16:32My baby niece Vicky's here right now,

0:16:32 > 0:16:34so I think I'm going to do my mask of a baby.

0:16:35 > 0:16:37I think eight by eight is a good amount.

0:16:37 > 0:16:40Just enough detail for a video-games character.

0:16:40 > 0:16:42So, I'm going to draw off an eight-by-eight grid.

0:16:43 > 0:16:44Two, three, four.

0:16:47 > 0:16:50Going to need to have some eyes, so going to pop those in first.

0:16:52 > 0:16:55So, I'm making my design by just colouring in separate squares.

0:16:55 > 0:16:58Just going to add some red for some rosy cheeks

0:16:58 > 0:17:00and then I'm going to add a dummy.

0:17:00 > 0:17:03Doesn't need to be super neat cos it's just a guide for me

0:17:03 > 0:17:05to make my mask.

0:17:05 > 0:17:07And now I'm going to colour in the rest of the face

0:17:07 > 0:17:10a nice pinky colour.

0:17:10 > 0:17:12There we go. Have the design for my mask.

0:17:12 > 0:17:14So now I need to transfer that design onto my box.

0:17:14 > 0:17:17And as I've broken this up into an eight-by-eight grid,

0:17:17 > 0:17:19I need to do the same thing to the box.

0:17:22 > 0:17:24About 40cm in width

0:17:24 > 0:17:27and it's a square box, so 40cm in height.

0:17:27 > 0:17:30So, what's 40 divided by eight?

0:17:30 > 0:17:32- Five.- Five, thank you.

0:17:32 > 0:17:34OK. Now I'm going to copy that eight-by-eight grid -

0:17:34 > 0:17:375cm for each block - onto my box.

0:17:37 > 0:17:39That's it. I'm going to do the same along the top.

0:17:42 > 0:17:45There we go. Now I'm going to draw lines along.

0:17:48 > 0:17:49And lines across.

0:17:49 > 0:17:52OK, Joel, I've got my eight-by-eight grid on the box,

0:17:52 > 0:17:54so now I need to make the coloured squares,

0:17:54 > 0:17:57so I can transfer my design onto the box.

0:17:57 > 0:17:59Just going to make one for the skin tone here.

0:18:00 > 0:18:03I'm going to cut this into a strip,

0:18:03 > 0:18:05cos then it makes it easier to cut off

0:18:05 > 0:18:07loads of separate 5cm squares.

0:18:09 > 0:18:11OK. So, I've got a strip and I'm just going to cut along

0:18:11 > 0:18:13where I've put the 5cm mark

0:18:13 > 0:18:15and I've got one of my first squares.

0:18:15 > 0:18:17I could sit here and I could cut out all the other squares or

0:18:17 > 0:18:19I could use some Ninja skills. What do you reckon?

0:18:19 > 0:18:21Ninja skills.

0:18:21 > 0:18:23Yeah, there we go.

0:18:23 > 0:18:24So, I'm going to poke some holes in the box,

0:18:24 > 0:18:27so I can have some eye holes to see through.

0:18:27 > 0:18:28That's one.

0:18:31 > 0:18:35I'm going to cut them out with some scissors.

0:18:35 > 0:18:38Now I can start sticking on the separate squares of my design.

0:18:38 > 0:18:41I'm going to start with the blonde hair, I think.

0:18:41 > 0:18:43And it's kind of like painting by numbers.

0:18:43 > 0:18:46You just throw on the colours to match the design.

0:18:46 > 0:18:50I just quite like the way this reinforces the idea of pixels.

0:18:50 > 0:18:53Now I'm going to move on and put some skin colour on it.

0:18:53 > 0:18:55Just going to add some rosy cheeks, as well.

0:18:55 > 0:18:57This is the whites of the eyes.

0:18:58 > 0:19:03OK. That's the last bit on there and now I need to do the other sides.

0:19:03 > 0:19:05But I'm going to do that with some ninja skills.

0:19:06 > 0:19:07Here we go.

0:19:09 > 0:19:11- You ready to see it, Joel?- Yeah.

0:19:11 > 0:19:14Well, the only way to show off a mask is to put it on.

0:19:17 > 0:19:18How's it look?

0:19:18 > 0:19:20Wow, Ricky, that's amazing.

0:19:20 > 0:19:21Looks good, yeah?

0:19:21 > 0:19:23Yeah.

0:19:23 > 0:19:24What would you give it out of ten?

0:19:24 > 0:19:26This much squared.

0:19:28 > 0:19:31Yeah. That's about ten. I'll take that.

0:19:31 > 0:19:33Thanks so much, dude. It was a great suggestion.

0:19:33 > 0:19:34Bye.

0:19:42 > 0:19:43Hey, you there.

0:19:43 > 0:19:45Keep it down, the baby's asleep.

0:19:45 > 0:19:47Oops, sorry.

0:19:47 > 0:19:50But here's something you won't want to shout about

0:19:50 > 0:19:53because everybody would want one.

0:19:53 > 0:19:55It's the funny flip book.

0:19:55 > 0:19:56Ha-ha-ha. It's so funny!

0:19:58 > 0:20:00And here's how you make it.

0:20:02 > 0:20:05Take some funny pictures of your friends and family.

0:20:06 > 0:20:07Baby.

0:20:09 > 0:20:13Print them out, making sure they're roughly the same size.

0:20:15 > 0:20:17Splendid.

0:20:17 > 0:20:18Take some scissors

0:20:18 > 0:20:23and cut out your photo, leaving a white strip on the left-hand side.

0:20:23 > 0:20:25Using one of your photographs,

0:20:25 > 0:20:29make a guide by drawing lines on a piece of paper -

0:20:29 > 0:20:32one above the eyebrows and one between the nose and the mouth.

0:20:33 > 0:20:36Using a pencil and ruler,

0:20:36 > 0:20:38draw these lines across the photos.

0:20:40 > 0:20:43Cut along the lines, but not over the white bit.

0:20:48 > 0:20:51Do the same with the rest of your photographs,

0:20:51 > 0:20:53so all the flaps line up.

0:20:56 > 0:20:58Lovely.

0:20:58 > 0:21:01Finally, take one more piece of card...

0:21:01 > 0:21:03- RICKY SNORES - ..and fold it in half.

0:21:07 > 0:21:11Slide your photos inside the folded piece of card,

0:21:11 > 0:21:13staple where the white border is on your photos.

0:21:13 > 0:21:15RICKY SNORES

0:21:16 > 0:21:18Let's take a look at the funny flip book.

0:21:20 > 0:21:22Not so funny yet.

0:21:22 > 0:21:24Ha-ha-ha. It is now.

0:21:25 > 0:21:28The funny flip book is so funny.

0:21:28 > 0:21:29Don't you think?

0:21:29 > 0:21:31RICKY SNORES

0:21:31 > 0:21:33KNOCK ON DOOR Ninja skills!

0:21:44 > 0:21:45Hi, Ricky.

0:21:45 > 0:21:47Ho-ho. Whose is the baby?

0:21:47 > 0:21:49It's my baby niece, Vicky. I'm looking after her.

0:21:49 > 0:21:51Oh, she's a cutie.

0:21:51 > 0:21:55I don't know where she gets it from, though.

0:21:55 > 0:21:57BABY VICKY CRIES

0:21:57 > 0:22:00Oh, my top is ruined!

0:22:00 > 0:22:03There you go, mate. Dab yourself off.

0:22:03 > 0:22:05I'll just get you a spare shirt.

0:22:05 > 0:22:07There we go.

0:22:09 > 0:22:11Sweet.

0:22:11 > 0:22:13Let's take baby Vicky out for some fresh air.

0:22:13 > 0:22:15I'll get my wheels, you bring yours.

0:22:25 > 0:22:27Ninja skills.

0:22:27 > 0:22:29Hi, Ricky. Where's Gavin?

0:22:29 > 0:22:31Coochie-coochie-coo.

0:22:31 > 0:22:33Oh, Gavin, he's got your hair.

0:22:35 > 0:22:37That's very funny, but he's not my responsibility.

0:22:37 > 0:22:39Ask Uncle Ricky here.

0:22:39 > 0:22:42Boo hoo, mate. Cry me a river, Gavy. Go wipe your tears.

0:22:44 > 0:22:46Hang on.

0:22:46 > 0:22:49This loo roll gives me an idea to make some great art

0:22:49 > 0:22:52and maybe it will send the baby to sleep.

0:22:52 > 0:22:55But first, we better get our ninja on.

0:22:55 > 0:22:58IN BABY TALK: Don't we, baby? Get your ninja on. Get your ninja on.

0:23:07 > 0:23:08Art Ninja.

0:23:08 > 0:23:10- Art Ninja.- Art Ninja.

0:23:10 > 0:23:11Art Ninja!

0:23:16 > 0:23:19So, how are we going to make art from all this loo roll, Ricky?

0:23:19 > 0:23:20Well, mate, you're going to be helping out

0:23:20 > 0:23:22by keeping the baby amused.

0:23:22 > 0:23:25And knowing your sense of humour, shouldn't be so hard, should it?

0:23:28 > 0:23:30Sarah, we're going to make a massive piece of art

0:23:30 > 0:23:32out of all of this loo roll.

0:23:32 > 0:23:34- Let's do it.- Or perhaps,

0:23:34 > 0:23:35let's roll.

0:23:37 > 0:23:39It's all right. I don't mind looking after you, do I?

0:23:39 > 0:23:42OK, Sarah, I'm going to roll this loo roll down to you

0:23:42 > 0:23:44- and I need you to tidy up the trail behind it.- OK.

0:23:50 > 0:23:51That's how we roll.

0:24:02 > 0:24:04Great, Sarah. Well, that's looking pretty much done.

0:24:04 > 0:24:07We can move over a do a nice big circular bit over here now.

0:24:12 > 0:24:14What we need now is a bit of colour.

0:24:22 > 0:24:23Do you know what, Sarah?

0:24:23 > 0:24:25All this toilet roll's making me think I need the loo.

0:24:25 > 0:24:27Do you mind taking over for a bit?

0:24:27 > 0:24:28OK.

0:24:30 > 0:24:32TOILET FLUSHES

0:24:32 > 0:24:34Hey, How's the bald, dribbling one?

0:24:34 > 0:24:36All right.

0:24:36 > 0:24:38And how are you, little one?

0:24:38 > 0:24:40All that rolling around

0:24:40 > 0:24:42is having quite a soporific effect on the baby.

0:24:42 > 0:24:45Soporific. Good word.

0:24:45 > 0:24:46And the baby's asleep.

0:24:47 > 0:24:49- How's the art coming along? - Yeah. Good, mate.

0:24:49 > 0:24:52Making a picture that a mummy would be proud of.

0:24:52 > 0:24:53Ideal for a baby.

0:25:08 > 0:25:11- OK, Sarah, let's get a little bit of colour in there.- OK.

0:25:22 > 0:25:24Look at that. It's looking really good.

0:25:27 > 0:25:29You've missed a bit.

0:25:29 > 0:25:31Sarah, do you mind carrying on with the art?

0:25:31 > 0:25:34I'm going to go and deal with Uncle Gavin.

0:25:34 > 0:25:35Coochie-coochie-coo.

0:25:35 > 0:25:38- Coochie-coochie-coochie-coo.- Hey!

0:25:41 > 0:25:43Hey!

0:25:46 > 0:25:47Help. Mummy.

0:25:49 > 0:25:51No, Gav, today you're the daddy.

0:25:55 > 0:25:57Oh, this is coming along. You've done loads.

0:25:57 > 0:25:58Thanks.

0:26:05 > 0:26:09Right. Now I think it's time to start adding some final details.

0:26:17 > 0:26:20Coochie-coochie-coo.

0:26:20 > 0:26:23(The baby's sleeping.)

0:26:23 > 0:26:27(Great. Now come on over and check out my loo-roll picture.)

0:26:27 > 0:26:29What do you guys "Sphinx" of it?

0:26:43 > 0:26:46It's beautiful. I think I'm going to cry.

0:26:48 > 0:26:50Here you go, mate. That's all I've got left.

0:26:50 > 0:26:53I think we're going to need more than that, mate.

0:26:53 > 0:26:54OK, then.

0:27:16 > 0:27:19Well, that all unravelled nicely.

0:27:19 > 0:27:22My baby niece, little Vicky, she's still here, though.

0:27:22 > 0:27:24My dad's picking her up tomorrow, now.

0:27:24 > 0:27:27Today has taught me a valuable Art Ninja lesson.

0:27:27 > 0:27:30If your baby niece is giving you issues,

0:27:30 > 0:27:32amuse her with art made from tissues.

0:27:33 > 0:27:35I think the baby's sleeping.

0:27:35 > 0:27:38And after the day I've had, it's what I should be doing.

0:27:38 > 0:27:40Good night, baby Vicky.

0:27:43 > 0:27:44Art Ninja. Poo.

0:27:46 > 0:27:48Aarrgghh!
