0:00:03 > 0:00:06'I'm Ricky. I live in Bristol.

0:00:06 > 0:00:09'I work as an animator, which is lucky, cos I love art.'

0:00:09 > 0:00:11Goal! 'I live for art.

0:00:11 > 0:00:13'I even dream of art.

0:00:13 > 0:00:14'I draw...

0:00:14 > 0:00:16'I paint...

0:00:16 > 0:00:17'I make things!'

0:00:17 > 0:00:18Nailed it.

0:00:20 > 0:00:21'I hang out with my mates...'

0:00:21 > 0:00:24- Go, Art Ninja! - '..Gavin, Michelle, Rich...'

0:00:24 > 0:00:25- Yeah! - '..and Sarah.'

0:00:25 > 0:00:26It's me!

0:00:26 > 0:00:29'Most importantly, I make ninja moves.

0:00:29 > 0:00:31'Some people call me the...'

0:00:34 > 0:00:36Today, I'll show you how to make some noise

0:00:36 > 0:00:39with this tidy bit of kit.

0:00:39 > 0:00:42You'll be Matisse-d with this cool bowl.

0:00:42 > 0:00:43Matisse!

0:00:43 > 0:00:48And we shed some light on a pile of old rubbish.

0:00:48 > 0:00:49Because today, it's...

0:00:56 > 0:00:58It's a new day.

0:00:58 > 0:01:01I'd better get my ninja on.

0:01:01 > 0:01:02And my clothes!

0:01:23 > 0:01:25I don't just have ninja art skills.

0:01:25 > 0:01:26I also make a mean cuppa.

0:01:28 > 0:01:29Oh, I like this one.

0:01:29 > 0:01:31MUSIC: Cold Water by Major Lazer featuring Justin Bieber and Mo

0:01:31 > 0:01:33Oh, song's ending.

0:01:33 > 0:01:36- RADIO:- Well, hi, this is WLBTRM FM.

0:01:36 > 0:01:39- Thanks for that.- You're welcome!

0:01:39 > 0:01:41And it's the day you've all been waiting for.

0:01:41 > 0:01:45The auditions for Bristol's Got Skills.

0:01:45 > 0:01:49And me, Gav, Sarah and Rich are all going along to watch!

0:01:49 > 0:01:51It's a real shame they've been cancelled.

0:01:53 > 0:01:54Gutted!

0:01:54 > 0:01:57The plans for my big day out, eliminated!

0:02:00 > 0:02:03I'll see if I can drum up the others so we can do something else.

0:02:03 > 0:02:05Drum up!

0:02:05 > 0:02:07That's given me an idea for...

0:02:07 > 0:02:11The Art Ninja drum kit desk tidy!

0:02:11 > 0:02:14Here's some food containers I've been saving.

0:02:14 > 0:02:16And I'm going to paint this one purple.

0:02:16 > 0:02:20Got some paint here, and I'm going to mix it with PVA.

0:02:20 > 0:02:22Right, just mix that in.

0:02:22 > 0:02:24That's half glue, half paint.

0:02:24 > 0:02:27This just means the paint's going to stick better to the containers,

0:02:27 > 0:02:28and gives it a nice, glossy finish.

0:02:35 > 0:02:36There we go.

0:02:38 > 0:02:41Now that's dry, I'm going to give it a bit of detail.

0:02:41 > 0:02:43I've got some lovely silver paint.

0:02:43 > 0:02:46I'm going to get a minuscule amount of paint on my brush.

0:02:46 > 0:02:48Most of it off.

0:02:48 > 0:02:52And then just loosely get some paint around it.

0:02:52 > 0:02:53This technique is called dry brushing,

0:02:53 > 0:02:56and it means you get a finish where you can see both types of paint.

0:02:56 > 0:02:58And as I'm using silver paint here,

0:02:58 > 0:03:01it gives the drums a nice sheen.

0:03:01 > 0:03:04There we go. I think that's looking pretty awesome.

0:03:04 > 0:03:07Hmm. Now, I should paint the rest.

0:03:07 > 0:03:09But let's face it, I'm the Art Ninja.

0:03:10 > 0:03:12Sweet!

0:03:12 > 0:03:16Now I need to give the lids a similar treatment.

0:03:16 > 0:03:17Ninja skills.

0:03:17 > 0:03:19So what I've done is I've painted the rims silver

0:03:19 > 0:03:22and the inside white so they look like drum skins.

0:03:22 > 0:03:25And this extra lid here, I've painted with gold paint,

0:03:25 > 0:03:26and that's going to be my cymbal.

0:03:26 > 0:03:29All right, they're starting to look like drums now.

0:03:29 > 0:03:30But I need some stands.

0:03:30 > 0:03:32So I'm going to start with my cymbal.

0:03:32 > 0:03:34So I've pre-cut three strips of silver card,

0:03:34 > 0:03:37which I'm going to tape together and bend to make into a stand.

0:03:38 > 0:03:41Now I can stick that to the underside of my cymbal.

0:03:44 > 0:03:46And I'm going to fold these pieces out

0:03:46 > 0:03:49and back to meet in the middle to make the bottom of the stand.

0:03:51 > 0:03:53I've used the same technique for the tom-tom,

0:03:53 > 0:03:55but this one's a little shorter.

0:03:55 > 0:03:56There we go.

0:03:56 > 0:03:58I need a stand for the bass drum now.

0:03:58 > 0:04:00So I've got another strip of card.

0:04:00 > 0:04:02I've made a little valley for it to sit in.

0:04:02 > 0:04:05So stick those bits together there. There we go.

0:04:07 > 0:04:09Yeah, perfect.

0:04:09 > 0:04:10And now for the other tom-tom,

0:04:10 > 0:04:12I'm using some silver-painted lolly sticks,

0:04:12 > 0:04:14and I'm going to stick them around

0:04:14 > 0:04:16with a bit of double-sided sticky tape.

0:04:17 > 0:04:18Sweet!

0:04:20 > 0:04:21And finally, my snare.

0:04:21 > 0:04:24I'm going to put that on top of my bass drum

0:04:24 > 0:04:25with a bit of double-sided sticky.

0:04:25 > 0:04:27It's looking like a pretty good drum kit.

0:04:27 > 0:04:29But I think it could do with jazzing up a bit.

0:04:29 > 0:04:32So I've cut out some stars from some tinfoil,

0:04:32 > 0:04:35and I'm going to stick them on with a bit of glue stick.

0:04:39 > 0:04:42Now, on the bass drum, I'm going to put an Art Ninja sticker.

0:04:42 > 0:04:45But you can put maybe a picture of your favourite band,

0:04:45 > 0:04:47or your own design.

0:04:47 > 0:04:49Now to put my drum kit on a stage.

0:04:51 > 0:04:54So I've cut out a cool, jazzy piece of card, given it a bit of glitter.

0:04:54 > 0:04:57Assemble it here, ready for a gig.

0:04:57 > 0:05:00And it is a desk tidy, so I'm going to tidy up some of my things.

0:05:03 > 0:05:05Check it out! Drum roll, please.

0:05:09 > 0:05:10Very tidy!

0:05:10 > 0:05:12You don't have to make a drum kit.

0:05:12 > 0:05:15You can try your hand at toxic waste.

0:05:15 > 0:05:18That's not such a WASTE of space.

0:05:18 > 0:05:21Or how about a BOOTYFUL pirate treasure chest?

0:05:21 > 0:05:23Arr, me hearties!

0:05:26 > 0:05:28Wow, I'm getting really good sound out of this.

0:05:28 > 0:05:31KNOCKING Oh, it's the door.

0:05:34 > 0:05:36- Hi, Gav.- It's a bad day, mate.

0:05:36 > 0:05:38Bristol's Got Skills has been cancelled!

0:05:38 > 0:05:40That was my only chance!

0:05:40 > 0:05:42- SAD MUSIC PLAYS - Now it's gone.

0:05:42 > 0:05:44Goodbye, hopes and dreams.

0:05:44 > 0:05:46That's it, it's over!

0:05:46 > 0:05:47Or... MUSIC SCREECHES TO A HALT

0:05:47 > 0:05:51We could do a new talent show called - and wait for this...

0:05:51 > 0:05:53My Mate's Got Talent!

0:05:53 > 0:05:56And I can be a judge.

0:05:56 > 0:05:58- Awesome! - And you can organise it all.

0:05:58 > 0:06:00Wow, thanks, Ricky!

0:06:02 > 0:06:05Gavin was very animated.

0:06:05 > 0:06:06A bit like this picture.

0:06:06 > 0:06:09That's when we did the, uh, vacuum cleaners.

0:06:09 > 0:06:11- That didn't SUCK.- Nah.

0:06:11 > 0:06:14That's when me and Gavin wore the same thing.

0:06:14 > 0:06:15What's this?

0:06:15 > 0:06:18Oh, that's the one from the future where we transformed into robots!

0:06:18 > 0:06:19What?

0:06:23 > 0:06:26- What was that?- Don't worry, mate, it's just an animation.

0:06:26 > 0:06:29Oh, and it had loads of this.

0:06:29 > 0:06:31No, no, no. It was more like this.

0:06:32 > 0:06:35So to make this cool robo animation, you'll need...

0:06:35 > 0:06:36A photo of your friends.

0:06:36 > 0:06:38Some paint or some correction fluid.

0:06:38 > 0:06:41Some pens. A tablet or smartphone with animation app.

0:06:41 > 0:06:44And you can put it together in just three ninja moves.

0:06:44 > 0:06:45Ninja move number one.

0:06:45 > 0:06:47You need to take a picture of you and your friend.

0:06:47 > 0:06:49So, I'm going to set it to timer.

0:06:51 > 0:06:53Strike a robo pose!

0:06:55 > 0:06:57Sweet. Now we need to print it out.

0:07:00 > 0:07:01Ninja move number two.

0:07:01 > 0:07:03One of the good things to do is to stick down your picture,

0:07:03 > 0:07:05because you don't want it to move.

0:07:05 > 0:07:07And now I can start animating.

0:07:07 > 0:07:09And I want the separate robot parts to come in one after the other.

0:07:09 > 0:07:11Because if they all come in at once,

0:07:11 > 0:07:12don't really get much of a cool effect.

0:07:12 > 0:07:15But if they come in gradually, it looks way more epic.

0:07:15 > 0:07:18I'm using correction fluid, just because it dries quicker -

0:07:18 > 0:07:20it means I can draw on it straightaway.

0:07:20 > 0:07:21Let's start by taking the first frame.

0:07:21 > 0:07:25Right, I think I'm going to start with mine and Richard's waist.

0:07:25 > 0:07:28I'm going to have the pieces sort of slide round...like that.

0:07:28 > 0:07:30Now, just with a normal roller ball,

0:07:30 > 0:07:32I start putting in a little bit of detail.

0:07:32 > 0:07:34You can sharpen up the lines,

0:07:34 > 0:07:36because it kind of scratches away where it's a little bit loose.

0:07:36 > 0:07:38It doesn't matter if it's rough,

0:07:38 > 0:07:40because it's going to happen so quick.

0:07:40 > 0:07:42All right. Take my second frame. CAMERA CLICKS

0:07:42 > 0:07:44And I can just paint over the top of that again

0:07:44 > 0:07:46with the correction fluid.

0:07:46 > 0:07:49And I'm just repeating this over and over again

0:07:49 > 0:07:52until we are all armoured up.

0:07:52 > 0:07:55Take a frame every time you add more detail.

0:07:55 > 0:07:57Let your imagination go wild,

0:07:57 > 0:08:00with whatever outfits you want to wear.

0:08:01 > 0:08:02Ninja move number three.

0:08:02 > 0:08:05I've shot all my frames on my tablet device.

0:08:05 > 0:08:07But now, to add something extra cool,

0:08:07 > 0:08:08I'm going to do some sound effects.

0:08:08 > 0:08:11Just try and find some interesting stuff from around the house

0:08:11 > 0:08:13that you can record to make cool sound effects.

0:08:13 > 0:08:16WHIRRING So I've got my frames shot,

0:08:16 > 0:08:18I've added some really cool sound effects that I recorded myself.

0:08:18 > 0:08:21I think it's time to take a look at our mini masterpiece.

0:08:26 > 0:08:28BANG

0:08:28 > 0:08:30Oh, yes! What do you think, Rich? I think it's pretty good.

0:08:30 > 0:08:32Yeah. But is it as good as this?

0:08:32 > 0:08:36HE MIMICS ROBOTIC NOISES

0:08:40 > 0:08:42KNOCKING ON DOOR

0:08:42 > 0:08:44- Ah. Hi, Gav.- Hello, Ricky.

0:08:44 > 0:08:47I'm here about the venue for My Mate's Got Talent.

0:08:47 > 0:08:49- So where is it?- Your lounge!

0:08:49 > 0:08:51Wait...no, wait...!

0:08:51 > 0:08:53DRILLING AND CRASHING

0:08:53 > 0:08:56- What are you doing? - It's called show business.

0:08:56 > 0:08:58You'll see.

0:08:58 > 0:09:01CRASHING

0:09:01 > 0:09:03While Gav crashes around,

0:09:03 > 0:09:06here's a quick art tip of how to draw someone dancing.

0:09:06 > 0:09:08So I'm going to start with her face.

0:09:08 > 0:09:10A bit to the side. Pop her ear in.

0:09:12 > 0:09:16Her hair's going to be all flowing around, like this.

0:09:16 > 0:09:19Nice big happy face, cos you're happy when you're dancing.

0:09:19 > 0:09:21And then she's going to be all bunched up like this,

0:09:21 > 0:09:22sort of pushed to the side. So not a neck here,

0:09:22 > 0:09:24not from this perspective.

0:09:29 > 0:09:31And she's thrown her weight out one way at the top.

0:09:31 > 0:09:34And her legs are going to be flicking out to the other side.

0:09:34 > 0:09:36So, one leg up.

0:09:36 > 0:09:39And the other one slightly further down.

0:09:39 > 0:09:42And then, cos she's all full of energy and jumping about,

0:09:42 > 0:09:46we can add a couple of motion lines.

0:09:46 > 0:09:48And so she's really feeling the music,

0:09:48 > 0:09:52I'm going to pop in a couple of musical notes.

0:09:56 > 0:09:59There you go. Another quick art tip.

0:10:10 > 0:10:11Ah, Ricky.

0:10:11 > 0:10:14The other judges are ready, and the show's about to start.

0:10:14 > 0:10:16- So, on my cue...- Hang on.

0:10:16 > 0:10:18What am I...? What am I doing?

0:10:18 > 0:10:20APPLAUSE AND CHEERING

0:10:20 > 0:10:23- VOICEOVER:- Welcome to My Mate's Got Talent.

0:10:23 > 0:10:24It's time to meet the mates.

0:10:24 > 0:10:27But first, please welcome your judges.

0:10:27 > 0:10:30It's the nation's sweetheart, Rikky,

0:10:30 > 0:10:32spelt with two Ks.

0:10:32 > 0:10:36Next up, it's famous boyband manager, Bristol's Mr Nasty,

0:10:36 > 0:10:38Rick-E.

0:10:38 > 0:10:43And finally, it's the actual Art Ninja himself, Ricky!

0:10:47 > 0:10:51- Tonight's first contestant, Sarah! - APPLAUSE

0:10:54 > 0:10:56Hi. I'm so excited to be here.

0:10:56 > 0:10:58I've wanted to do this my entire life.

0:10:58 > 0:11:00I know everyone says that, and I just can't wait...

0:11:00 > 0:11:02- Talent? - AUDIENCE GASPS

0:11:02 > 0:11:05Erm, today, Rickys, I'm going to be singing.

0:11:09 > 0:11:10Take your time, pet.

0:11:13 > 0:11:16# La-la-la-la-la

0:11:16 > 0:11:20# La-la-la-la-la

0:11:20 > 0:11:22# La-la-la-la! #

0:11:27 > 0:11:29Rubbish.

0:11:29 > 0:11:32BUZZER

0:11:32 > 0:11:34APPLAUSE

0:11:38 > 0:11:41While we wait for Gavin's next contestant on My Mate's Got Talent,

0:11:41 > 0:11:44I'm going to make art using a bowl inspired by my mate,

0:11:44 > 0:11:46French artist Matisse.

0:11:46 > 0:11:50Ah, ha-ha! Bonjour, Ricky.

0:11:50 > 0:11:52I didn't need talent shows.

0:11:52 > 0:11:55I was one of the stars of modern art.

0:11:55 > 0:11:58I was famous for my use of colour.

0:11:58 > 0:12:02And I also made sculptures later on, when I was sick.

0:12:02 > 0:12:05When he says sick, he means not very well.

0:12:05 > 0:12:07Not sick as in awesome!

0:12:07 > 0:12:09Although he was that too.

0:12:09 > 0:12:11Yes. When I was sick,

0:12:11 > 0:12:15I would sit in my bed and cut shapes from painted papers

0:12:15 > 0:12:18and arrange them into compositions.

0:12:18 > 0:12:21Well, your art certainly struck a chord with me!

0:12:21 > 0:12:23Struck a chord. Cheers, Matisse.

0:12:23 > 0:12:25A bientot.

0:12:26 > 0:12:29Right, to start with, I've got myself some coloured card

0:12:29 > 0:12:32and I'm going to doodle some fun shapes.

0:12:32 > 0:12:35Kind of inspired in my mind by seaweed.

0:12:35 > 0:12:38And Matisse. You can do whatever shapes you like.

0:12:38 > 0:12:39Slightly bigger one on this pink one.

0:12:44 > 0:12:46Now I'm going to cut those out.

0:12:52 > 0:12:54There we go.

0:12:54 > 0:12:58Now, to make my bowl, I'll need lots of these.

0:12:58 > 0:13:00So I'll ninja myself some more.

0:13:02 > 0:13:04Ninja skills!

0:13:04 > 0:13:06Let's gather these together.

0:13:06 > 0:13:09Great. Keep my bowl here.

0:13:09 > 0:13:11And I'm going to give it a layer of cling wrap.

0:13:11 > 0:13:14Make sure you give your bowl a good coverage.

0:13:14 > 0:13:18The cling wrap will help you remove your card bowl later.

0:13:18 > 0:13:20Lovely.

0:13:20 > 0:13:22A little trick here is to hold the bowl away

0:13:22 > 0:13:23from the table with something,

0:13:23 > 0:13:25so I'm just going to use a plant pot.

0:13:25 > 0:13:27That means when I can stick stuff to the edges,

0:13:27 > 0:13:28I get a little bit of overhang.

0:13:28 > 0:13:30Now I've got some glue and water mix -

0:13:30 > 0:13:32that's three parts glue, one part water -

0:13:32 > 0:13:34and I'm going to start sticking my shapes to the bowl.

0:13:36 > 0:13:37There we go.

0:13:39 > 0:13:41I'm starting from the very top of the bowl

0:13:41 > 0:13:42and working back down to the bottom.

0:13:42 > 0:13:45This way, the shapes overlap in the nicest possible way.

0:13:48 > 0:13:51And I'm making sure that my shapes overlap each other.

0:13:51 > 0:13:53And don't worry if this looks a bit messy,

0:13:53 > 0:13:55because the glue dries clear.

0:13:55 > 0:13:57Now I'm going to go and do another layer of further up,

0:13:57 > 0:13:58towards the bottom of the bowl.

0:13:58 > 0:14:00And that's going to overlap the first one.

0:14:00 > 0:14:02If you're doing this at home, you'll probably need

0:14:02 > 0:14:04to put some paper down to protect the art table.

0:14:04 > 0:14:06But the art table is made for this kind of action.

0:14:06 > 0:14:08I'm painting over the top of my shapes,

0:14:08 > 0:14:10just to keep them all nicely stuck together.

0:14:10 > 0:14:12And because they're overlapping,

0:14:12 > 0:14:15it means that my final bowl will be nice and solid.

0:14:15 > 0:14:17Just going to add on some blue triangles here,

0:14:17 > 0:14:19to give it a bit more colour contrast.

0:14:19 > 0:14:21One there.

0:14:21 > 0:14:23Now, I'm not going to wait for this to dry.

0:14:23 > 0:14:25I'm going to use some ninja skills.

0:14:27 > 0:14:29Check it out! Now I need to remove it.

0:14:29 > 0:14:32And the trick there is to get a ruler between my bowl

0:14:32 > 0:14:34and the cling wrap.

0:14:37 > 0:14:39Ah, yes!

0:14:43 > 0:14:44Wow!

0:14:49 > 0:14:51You can make a bowl using any shapes you like.

0:14:51 > 0:14:54How about this one made from cut-out dogs?

0:14:54 > 0:14:57Or acrobatic break dancers.

0:14:57 > 0:15:01If Matisse had stuck around, he'd be BOWLED over by that.

0:15:01 > 0:15:02TELEPHONE RINGS

0:15:02 > 0:15:04BEEP

0:15:04 > 0:15:06'Hi, Ricky! It's your mum.

0:15:06 > 0:15:08'I heard you're putting on a talent show.

0:15:08 > 0:15:10'I like twerking.

0:15:10 > 0:15:11'But also on the bill today...

0:15:12 > 0:15:14'..jumping Jack puppets...'

0:15:14 > 0:15:16Wow!

0:15:16 > 0:15:18'..home-made party poppers...

0:15:20 > 0:15:23'..and shadow art that certainly isn't rubbish.

0:15:25 > 0:15:27'Anyway, I've got to go to work.

0:15:27 > 0:15:29'Not to twerk.'

0:15:29 > 0:15:31Phew! Now where's Gavin?

0:15:31 > 0:15:34Ricky, Ricky, Ricky!

0:15:34 > 0:15:37Let's see what my ninja apprentices have to test my talent.

0:15:37 > 0:15:40Can you make art with leftover paint tubes?

0:15:40 > 0:15:44I'd only make a mess. And I've got enough of that already.

0:15:44 > 0:15:47Ricky! Ricky Rickster.

0:15:47 > 0:15:49Hey, it's Mark and Lauren from the Dengineers.

0:15:49 > 0:15:52Do you think you can make something out of a spade?

0:15:52 > 0:15:54- No, that's a strange idea.- Oh!

0:15:54 > 0:15:56I think they'd better SHOVEL off.

0:15:58 > 0:16:00What have these guys got?

0:16:00 > 0:16:04Ricky, can you make art with split pins?

0:16:04 > 0:16:06Cool, I choose you!

0:16:06 > 0:16:08- BOTH:- Yay!

0:16:08 > 0:16:12- So what are your names? - I'm Trixie.- And I'm Kieran.

0:16:12 > 0:16:14- Nice. And where are you from? - Burnley.

0:16:14 > 0:16:17I'm going to make something that won't SPLIT the talent show judges.

0:16:17 > 0:16:20I'll go and grab my things.

0:16:20 > 0:16:22So I've got a little bit of sticky tack.

0:16:22 > 0:16:25Some modelling clay.

0:16:25 > 0:16:28A pencil that I'm going to pop in my pot.

0:16:28 > 0:16:29Little bit of string.

0:16:29 > 0:16:32A couple of lovely shocked pictures of Sarah.

0:16:32 > 0:16:35You need two pictures, exactly the same.

0:16:35 > 0:16:36Love it.

0:16:36 > 0:16:38A couple of pieces of card.

0:16:38 > 0:16:41And, of course, trusty split pins.

0:16:41 > 0:16:44I'm going to start by sticking these two pictures of Sarah to some card,

0:16:44 > 0:16:45just to make it more rigid.

0:16:45 > 0:16:48So, today, we're having a little bit of a talent show here.

0:16:48 > 0:16:49Do you guys have any talents?

0:16:49 > 0:16:53- Well, we're both really good at singing.- Oh!- Yeah.

0:16:53 > 0:16:57And I do a lot of drama and gymnastics.

0:16:57 > 0:16:59Can you act at being ninjas?

0:16:59 > 0:17:01You got a ninja pose for me?

0:17:01 > 0:17:03That's pretty intense. Nearly blew me off my seat.

0:17:03 > 0:17:05Definitely got ninja skills.

0:17:05 > 0:17:07Just going to stick down my second picture of Sarah to the card.

0:17:07 > 0:17:10I'm going to start now by cutting out Sarah's body and her head.

0:17:15 > 0:17:16There we go.

0:17:16 > 0:17:18And now I'm going to cut out her arms and legs

0:17:18 > 0:17:20from the other picture.

0:17:20 > 0:17:21When I'm cutting out Sarah's arm,

0:17:21 > 0:17:23I've made a really large circle at the top,

0:17:23 > 0:17:25because that's going to work like a hinge.

0:17:25 > 0:17:28I'm going to cut out Sarah's legs in the same way.

0:17:28 > 0:17:29There we go.

0:17:29 > 0:17:31I've cut out Sarah's body parts.

0:17:31 > 0:17:34And now I'm going to make some holes to put her back together.

0:17:34 > 0:17:36I'm going to put a piece of modelling clay down

0:17:36 > 0:17:37so I don't mark the table.

0:17:37 > 0:17:41And using my pencil, I'm going to poke a hole through.

0:17:43 > 0:17:46Du-du! Now I need to move on to the legs.

0:17:47 > 0:17:50There we go. Now I'm going to make more holes in the arms and legs.

0:17:50 > 0:17:54These need to be one centimetre above the first holes I made.

0:17:54 > 0:17:56Right, I'm just going to put the split pins in,

0:17:56 > 0:17:59just to check that I've got Sarah made up in the right way.

0:18:01 > 0:18:03There you go, popped her back together.

0:18:03 > 0:18:05It's pretty good, but it's going to get even better.

0:18:05 > 0:18:07Cos I'm going to make Sarah into a puppet.

0:18:07 > 0:18:08Just going to turn it back over,

0:18:08 > 0:18:11cos I'm going to tie a bit of string on so that I can control Sarah.

0:18:11 > 0:18:12First, I'm going to take the arm off

0:18:12 > 0:18:15and thread the string through the top hole.

0:18:15 > 0:18:16Then I'm going to put the other end of the string

0:18:16 > 0:18:19through the hole on the other arm.

0:18:19 > 0:18:20Tie a little knot here.

0:18:20 > 0:18:23Now I'm going to attach the arms back to the body with split pins,

0:18:23 > 0:18:26and tie a knot on each end of the string.

0:18:26 > 0:18:27Snip this bit.

0:18:28 > 0:18:30And I'm going to do the same thing

0:18:30 > 0:18:33between the holes on the legs as well.

0:18:33 > 0:18:34Let's go through that one.

0:18:36 > 0:18:39And finally, I'm going to attach another piece of string.

0:18:39 > 0:18:41This time, I'm tying it to the middle of the string

0:18:41 > 0:18:45that connects the arms and the piece that connects the legs.

0:18:45 > 0:18:47- It looks good, Ricky. - Thanks, guys!

0:18:47 > 0:18:49Got a lovely printed background for her.

0:18:49 > 0:18:52Just going to hold her head down with a little bit of sticky tack.

0:18:52 > 0:18:54- Now, you guys ready to see it?- Yeah!

0:18:54 > 0:18:58Because I've turned Sarah into a split pin puppet.

0:19:04 > 0:19:06Do you know what? I think it's so good, it deserves a frame.

0:25:17 > 0:25:19Roll me.

0:25:19 > 0:25:21POPPING

0:25:24 > 0:25:26So, first up... Yeah, we need to stuff that in

0:25:26 > 0:25:29and get this good piece of garden equipment popped in there.

0:25:29 > 0:25:32- You can hold it in place by stuffing in that bit of foam.- OK.

0:25:32 > 0:25:35- Yeah, that's good. How you getting on, Gav?- Yeah, all right.

0:25:54 > 0:25:57I mean, it's certainly starting to take shape,

0:25:57 > 0:25:59but I'm just not sure what that shape is.

0:25:59 > 0:26:03Don't worry, Sarah, the art will soon emerge from the light.

0:26:03 > 0:26:05OK.

0:26:34 > 0:26:37Check out these two sick ballroom dancers.

0:26:38 > 0:26:41That, mate, is definitely not rubbish.

0:27:10 > 0:27:13Today has taught me a valuable Art Ninja lesson.

0:27:13 > 0:27:16Even if your mates are a couple of chancers,

0:27:16 > 0:27:20they can still help you make sick ballroom dancers.

0:27:20 > 0:27:23Their talents were... interesting, though.

0:27:23 > 0:27:26Particularly Gavin in his synchronised swimming gear.

0:27:26 > 0:27:29Urgh, I hope I never have to see that again.
