0:00:14 > 0:00:16I paint,

0:00:16 > 0:00:17I make things. Nailed it!

0:00:20 > 0:00:22- I hang out with my mates...- Go, art!

0:00:25 > 0:00:29- It's me!- Most importantly, I make ninja moves.

0:00:29 > 0:00:30Some people call me the...

0:00:35 > 0:00:39Today, I'll show you how to make a "Perry" nice vase.

0:00:39 > 0:00:42We get prickly with this cactus photo frame.

0:00:43 > 0:00:46And there's a giant creature coming to life in the sand.

0:00:48 > 0:00:49Because today, it's...

0:00:55 > 0:00:58Yawn! It's a new day.

0:00:58 > 0:01:00I'd better get my ninja on...

0:01:01 > 0:01:02..and my clothes.

0:01:12 > 0:01:14QUACKING Aw!

0:01:14 > 0:01:16Ooh!

0:01:17 > 0:01:21MOBILE RINGS

0:01:21 > 0:01:22Hello, Ricky speaking.

0:01:22 > 0:01:26'Hello, I work on a TV show called Who On Earth Are You?

0:01:26 > 0:01:29'It's where we find ancestors of famous people off the telly.'

0:01:29 > 0:01:32Famous people...off the telly.

0:01:34 > 0:01:36'We're a bit short of famous people,

0:01:36 > 0:01:38'so would you like to be on the show?'

0:01:38 > 0:01:40(Typical.)

0:01:40 > 0:01:42Er, yeah!

0:01:42 > 0:01:44I think your show is relatively good.

0:01:44 > 0:01:46Get it? "Relatively"?

0:01:46 > 0:01:49'Mmm, I'm afraid I don't. We'll text you updates.'

0:01:49 > 0:01:51Maybe I should do a bit of my own family research.

0:01:55 > 0:01:57According to this family-tree website,

0:01:57 > 0:01:59I come from a long line of ninjas!

0:01:59 > 0:02:02I wonder which one's my great-great-grandfather.

0:02:02 > 0:02:05There's a chef that cooked really quickly.

0:02:07 > 0:02:10Cake Ninja - maybe it's him?

0:02:10 > 0:02:12Cake is served!

0:02:12 > 0:02:14CRASH!

0:02:15 > 0:02:17'Not cool.'

0:02:17 > 0:02:18He can't be my ancestor.

0:02:20 > 0:02:22Wow! If I get to be on Who On Earth Are You?

0:02:22 > 0:02:25I'll be able to find out about my ancestors

0:02:25 > 0:02:28and maybe write a bestselling autobiography.

0:02:28 > 0:02:31An artist that used autobiographical details

0:02:31 > 0:02:33in their work is Grayson Perry.

0:02:33 > 0:02:35He was known for making vases.

0:02:35 > 0:02:37So, I'm going to make one of my own.

0:02:37 > 0:02:39- All right, Ricky.- Oh, hi, Grayson.

0:02:39 > 0:02:42- Nice of you to turn up. - Did you say "Turner"?

0:02:42 > 0:02:46Yeah, I did win the Turner Prize in 2003.

0:02:46 > 0:02:50- And you're looking smart.- I know, I put my best dress on especially.

0:02:50 > 0:02:54I do have a CBE award, you know, for services to contemporary art.

0:02:54 > 0:02:56Here's some of my work now.

0:02:58 > 0:03:02Wow, you'll be a Sir next, or should I say "Sir-ramic"?!

0:03:02 > 0:03:06Yeah, stop with the jokes, Ricky! I'm...glazing over.

0:03:08 > 0:03:10All right, I'll pop you back over here.

0:03:12 > 0:03:15So, I've got myself just a normal party balloon

0:03:15 > 0:03:17and I'm going to blow it up to about the size of a melon.

0:03:20 > 0:03:21There we go. Tie that off.

0:03:23 > 0:03:25I've got myself a snack tube.

0:03:25 > 0:03:29Take the lid off and with a pen, and quite carefully,

0:03:29 > 0:03:31I'm going to draw a circle

0:03:31 > 0:03:34around the bottom of the balloon over the knot.

0:03:34 > 0:03:36And at the top, too.

0:03:36 > 0:03:41And these two circles need to be perfectly in line with each other.

0:03:41 > 0:03:43I've got some newspaper and some glue mix here -

0:03:43 > 0:03:46three parts glue, one part water - and I'm going to papier mache

0:03:46 > 0:03:49around my balloon, leaving the two circles on the top

0:03:49 > 0:03:50and the bottom empty.

0:03:53 > 0:03:54If you find it tricky,

0:03:54 > 0:03:57put a little bowl down to hold your balloon in place.

0:04:00 > 0:04:03If you're doing this at home, you need to put newspaper down

0:04:03 > 0:04:05to protect your surfaces, and you'll need to do several layers

0:04:05 > 0:04:07to make sure it's nice and strong.

0:04:09 > 0:04:13I'm making sure that my papier mache goes right up to my drawn circles,

0:04:13 > 0:04:14up to the very edge.

0:04:19 > 0:04:22Looking good. Now, I need that to dry.

0:04:23 > 0:04:26There we go. Ninja skills!

0:04:26 > 0:04:28Chop the end of the balloon off.

0:04:28 > 0:04:30IT PARPS Great noise!

0:04:30 > 0:04:34Slide in my snack tube, so it sticks out either end.

0:04:34 > 0:04:36I'm going to hold it in place with some masking tape.

0:04:46 > 0:04:48I'm using my same glue mix from earlier.

0:04:48 > 0:04:51I'm going to cover in it in a layer of coloured paper.

0:04:53 > 0:04:55And paper gives it a lovely texture.

0:04:59 > 0:05:03While it's still wet, I'm going to add my autobiographical features.

0:05:04 > 0:05:07Pictures of my friends and my life, just like Grayson Perry.

0:05:07 > 0:05:10Some long strips of coloured paper to wrap around the top.

0:05:10 > 0:05:12Just slide it underneath that silver bit.

0:05:12 > 0:05:16I could wait for this to dry before I add some finer details,

0:05:16 > 0:05:19but I'm going to use my ninja skills.

0:05:19 > 0:05:22There you go, ninja skills!

0:05:22 > 0:05:24And I've added some black pen detail.

0:05:24 > 0:05:27An autobiographical vase in the style of Grayson Perry.

0:05:36 > 0:05:39You don't have to make a vase like mine. Make it personal to you.

0:05:41 > 0:05:43How about one with your favourite things?

0:05:43 > 0:05:46Mine shows skateboards, pencils and pizza.

0:05:47 > 0:05:50Or how about showing the family pet?

0:05:50 > 0:05:51Hey, look! A dog! Woof!

0:05:53 > 0:05:55Right! Back to the family tree.

0:05:57 > 0:06:00But which one's my great-great-granddad?

0:06:00 > 0:06:02How about this fella?

0:06:03 > 0:06:07He was a surgeon that dressed wounds super fast.

0:06:07 > 0:06:09Maybe it was him?

0:06:09 > 0:06:11Oh, ow!

0:06:14 > 0:06:15Really not cool!

0:06:17 > 0:06:20I've always had my ninja skills, even as a baby.

0:06:20 > 0:06:22TEXT ALERT

0:06:22 > 0:06:25Hey, it's a text from Who On Earth Are You?

0:06:25 > 0:06:28They've found something interesting about my family tree.

0:06:28 > 0:06:30Oh, but they haven't said what it is.

0:06:30 > 0:06:33Anyway, I prefer cacti to trees.

0:06:33 > 0:06:36I know, that gives me an idea to make...

0:06:36 > 0:06:39the Art Ninja cactus photo frame.

0:06:40 > 0:06:42So, I'm going to need some pictures from a photo album.

0:06:42 > 0:06:45Me, my dad and mum. And a nice big bit of card.

0:06:46 > 0:06:49And I'm going to dot around my pictures as a guide.

0:06:51 > 0:06:54I positioned my pictures and I'm putting a dot at each corner.

0:06:55 > 0:06:58Now using a ruler, I'm connecting the dots.

0:06:58 > 0:07:00I'm going to go round on the inside

0:07:00 > 0:07:03and draw another box about half a centimetre smaller,

0:07:03 > 0:07:05because that's the bit that's going to hold them in place.

0:07:06 > 0:07:09Now, using the frames that I've drawn as a guide,

0:07:09 > 0:07:11I'm going to sketch out my cactus shape.

0:07:11 > 0:07:14I want a big border around them, like that.

0:07:16 > 0:07:18Remember, cacti come in all shapes and sizes,

0:07:18 > 0:07:20so you can do yours any shape that you like.

0:07:21 > 0:07:23Right, get that cut out.

0:07:23 > 0:07:25Now, you might find it tricky,

0:07:25 > 0:07:27cutting out this large shape on the cardboard.

0:07:27 > 0:07:29If so, just get someone to help you.

0:07:29 > 0:07:31And don't worry about it looking scruffy,

0:07:31 > 0:07:33because you're going to papier mache it later.

0:07:33 > 0:07:35There we go. Don't need these bits.

0:07:35 > 0:07:38And I need to cut out these smaller rectangles here.

0:07:38 > 0:07:41To get into them, I'm going to put a bit of modelling clay underneath

0:07:41 > 0:07:42and poke through with a pencil.

0:07:42 > 0:07:44Now I can slide in my scissors and cut that out.

0:07:48 > 0:07:51There we go. Now, to give my cactus a bit more shape,

0:07:51 > 0:07:53I'm going to add some newspaper to really puff it up.

0:07:53 > 0:07:55I'm just going to scrunch it up and hold this in place

0:07:55 > 0:07:57with a bit of masking tape.

0:07:57 > 0:08:00I'm going to wrap the newspaper, just under and in on itself,

0:08:00 > 0:08:02to give it a nice rounded shape.

0:08:04 > 0:08:06Now I'm going to do some papier mache but with a difference.

0:08:06 > 0:08:08I'm going to be using some kitchen towel

0:08:08 > 0:08:10and I've got some glue and water mix.

0:08:10 > 0:08:11Two parts glue, one part water.

0:08:11 > 0:08:14And the great thing about kitchen towel is it means

0:08:14 > 0:08:17I don't have to do a base coat of white, and especially for this,

0:08:17 > 0:08:19it gives it a lovely texture.

0:08:21 > 0:08:23Now, this is pretty messy.

0:08:23 > 0:08:26So, if you're doing it at home, make sure you put some newspaper down.

0:08:26 > 0:08:28Now, I need that to dry and to give it some colour

0:08:28 > 0:08:31but I'm going to use my ninja skills.

0:08:32 > 0:08:34Check it out. Lovely green on this side,

0:08:34 > 0:08:36slightly darker on the back, just to tidy it up,

0:08:36 > 0:08:39I'm going to add some extra detail by fading the two colours in.

0:08:39 > 0:08:42So, start with a bit of the dark paint.

0:08:42 > 0:08:44And I'm going to mix in a little bit of the lighter stuff.

0:08:44 > 0:08:47Now, fading these two colours into each other,

0:08:47 > 0:08:49makes it look more 3D and gives it a lovely finish.

0:08:52 > 0:08:55Right, I'm going to put that to one side now.

0:08:55 > 0:08:58I've made a back for my photo, using a piece of card.

0:08:58 > 0:09:03And this little lip here will stop the picture from sliding around

0:09:03 > 0:09:05and falling out when it's put into our frame.

0:09:07 > 0:09:09I'm also using these cardboard lips to attach the frames

0:09:09 > 0:09:12to the back of the canvas with double-sided sticky tape.

0:09:15 > 0:09:16First one.

0:09:17 > 0:09:18There you go.

0:09:18 > 0:09:20It's nearly ready for photographs

0:09:20 > 0:09:22but I'm going to add some finishing touches

0:09:22 > 0:09:24and for that, I've used an egg box.

0:09:24 > 0:09:27And I've used the bottom bits that hold the eggs to make flowers,

0:09:27 > 0:09:30which I've painted and outlined in black pen.

0:09:34 > 0:09:37These triangle bits here become some nice spikes.

0:09:37 > 0:09:40And I'm just sticking these on with a bit of double-sided sticky tape.

0:09:41 > 0:09:43Now it's time to add my photographs.

0:09:43 > 0:09:46They slide nicely into our little pockets.

0:09:47 > 0:09:48Dad's there. There you go, Mum.

0:09:50 > 0:09:52Now I'm going to add a stand, so I can display it.

0:09:52 > 0:09:54For that, I've got a strip of card that I've painted green,

0:09:54 > 0:09:57a little bit of double-sided sticky tape, and the top bit

0:09:57 > 0:09:59just leans against where the top sleeve is.

0:09:59 > 0:10:00There we go.

0:10:05 > 0:10:08You don't have to make a family cactus.

0:10:08 > 0:10:10These egg box bugs look blooming great!

0:10:12 > 0:10:14Or you can branch out with a blossoming tree.

0:10:20 > 0:10:22Crumbs! Did that picture move?

0:10:22 > 0:10:25I think it did. That's because it's animated.

0:10:30 > 0:10:31What's Anna doing?

0:10:35 > 0:10:37Hello, what are you up to?

0:10:37 > 0:10:39Just leaving this bag of clothes for the charity shop.

0:10:43 > 0:10:46- Are you sure that's just clothes?- Yeah.

0:10:50 > 0:10:53GRUNTING

0:10:54 > 0:10:57Whoa! Better call the fashion police!

0:10:57 > 0:10:59Nah! It's just an animation.

0:10:59 > 0:11:02Now, to make this trendy animation, you'll need a load of old clothes

0:11:02 > 0:11:05and a tablet with an animation app installed.

0:11:05 > 0:11:08And you can put it together in just three ninja moves.

0:11:08 > 0:11:10Ninja move number one.

0:11:10 > 0:11:12Pick out some old clothes and put together some outfits

0:11:12 > 0:11:14to make your characters.

0:11:14 > 0:11:17# Vogue!

0:11:17 > 0:11:19# Vogue

0:11:19 > 0:11:21# Go with the flow

0:11:21 > 0:11:25# Ooh, you've got to... #

0:11:28 > 0:11:31But you don't actually have to put the outfits on.

0:11:31 > 0:11:33< Aw!

0:11:33 > 0:11:34Ninja move number two.

0:11:34 > 0:11:37Now, lay your clothes down on the floor and set up your shot.

0:11:37 > 0:11:38If you like, you can use a mini fish-eye lens,

0:11:38 > 0:11:41just to help you get more of the action into your field of view.

0:11:41 > 0:11:44Now is a good time to plan what your animation's going to be.

0:11:44 > 0:11:46So, get those creative juices flowing.

0:11:46 > 0:11:48Ninja move number three.

0:11:48 > 0:11:50It's time to start shooting.

0:11:50 > 0:11:52Now, remember, the distance you move your clothes

0:11:52 > 0:11:54will affect how smooth the animation is.

0:11:54 > 0:11:57So, we're just moving them a tiny amount, and each time we move them,

0:11:57 > 0:11:58we take a frame.

0:11:59 > 0:12:02OK, we've shot all of our frames, I think it's time to take a look

0:12:02 > 0:12:03at our mini masterpiece!

0:12:08 > 0:12:10GRUNTING

0:12:11 > 0:12:13Oh, I'm really happy with that!

0:12:13 > 0:12:16- What do you reckon, Rich? - I'll take my hat off to that.

0:12:16 > 0:12:18Nice.

0:12:18 > 0:12:21- Nice outfits!- Thanks.

0:12:25 > 0:12:28PHONE RINGS

0:12:28 > 0:12:30'Hi, Ricky, it's your mum.

0:12:30 > 0:12:32'I've been doing some research into jeans.'

0:12:32 > 0:12:34Wow! Everyone's at it!

0:12:34 > 0:12:36'I prefer the stone-washed jeans myself

0:12:36 > 0:12:39- 'but they're not fashionable any more.'- Oh, wrong genes.

0:12:39 > 0:12:43'So, I bought myself some super-skinny purple ones instead

0:12:43 > 0:12:45'and here's what you've got to squeeze into today.'

0:12:47 > 0:12:49"Oil" be impressed when you make some fruity art.

0:12:50 > 0:12:51Whoa!

0:12:51 > 0:12:55This guy's off to a flyer with his origami Frisbee.

0:12:55 > 0:12:58And there's epic sand art, that's totally beachy.

0:12:58 > 0:13:02'Right, I've got to go and squeeze myself into my new trousers.

0:13:02 > 0:13:05'Those skinny jeans won't wear themselves!

0:13:05 > 0:13:06- 'Bye!'- Ricky, Ricky, Ricky!

0:13:08 > 0:13:11- What can I help you with?- Ricky, can you make art with a mirror?

0:13:11 > 0:13:16- I can't see myself doing that, not today.- Aw!

0:13:16 > 0:13:18- BOTH:- Hi, Ricky. - Hey, it's Sam and Mark.

0:13:18 > 0:13:20No wind-ups, all right?

0:13:20 > 0:13:23We just wondered if you could make something out of these eggs.

0:13:23 > 0:13:24Here, catch.

0:13:25 > 0:13:28Oh! I knew it was a rubber egg.

0:13:28 > 0:13:30Anyway, I can't make anything with this,

0:13:30 > 0:13:31you having a laugh?

0:13:31 > 0:13:33Erm, yeah, that's kind of what we do.

0:13:33 > 0:13:34Fair enough.

0:13:36 > 0:13:37- BOTH:- Ricky!

0:13:37 > 0:13:39What have these guys got?

0:13:39 > 0:13:42Ricky, can you make art with this oil?

0:13:42 > 0:13:44OK. I choose you!

0:13:44 > 0:13:48- BOTH:- Yay!

0:13:48 > 0:13:53- What are your names?- I am Emily. - And I am Lillian.

0:13:53 > 0:13:55- Nice to meet you, guys, and where are you from?- Wales.

0:13:55 > 0:14:00Oh, lovely. I'm going to grab a few more things, I'll be right back.

0:14:00 > 0:14:02Right, guys, I've got a piece of paper,

0:14:02 > 0:14:04a couple of bowls, some cotton buds

0:14:04 > 0:14:06and a little bit of kitchen towel.

0:14:06 > 0:14:10Over there. And I've also got some colouring pencils and a pen,

0:14:10 > 0:14:13cos I'm going to do a still life of this bowl of fruit.

0:14:14 > 0:14:18So, I'm going to start by drawing a sketchy line drawing of the bowl.

0:14:18 > 0:14:21- So, do you guys like to do art? BOTH:- Yeah.

0:14:21 > 0:14:24- What kind of things do you do? - I drew a wolf once.

0:14:24 > 0:14:26A wolf is my favourite animal.

0:14:28 > 0:14:29When you're drawing still life,

0:14:29 > 0:14:31it's always important to look more at your subject

0:14:31 > 0:14:34than you do at your paper. It's all about studying it.

0:14:36 > 0:14:40Now, I'm using pen to do my sketch and you'll find out why later.

0:14:40 > 0:14:42OK, do you want to see how the sketch is looking so far?

0:14:42 > 0:14:44- BOTH:- Yes, please.

0:14:44 > 0:14:47Here you go.

0:14:47 > 0:14:49- BOTH:- Whoa!

0:14:49 > 0:14:50You think it looks good now, well,

0:14:50 > 0:14:53it's going to look even better when I've added some colour.

0:14:53 > 0:14:55- That is art.- Thanks, guys.

0:14:55 > 0:14:57These are just normal colouring pencils.

0:14:57 > 0:14:59I'm just going to scruffily add some colour.

0:14:59 > 0:15:01What fruit shall I do next?

0:15:01 > 0:15:04- Orange!- Grapes!- Orange!- Grapes!

0:15:04 > 0:15:07- Why don't I try and do both? - Yeah!- Yeah!

0:15:08 > 0:15:11Double-handed colouring, risky!

0:15:11 > 0:15:13Starting with the lighter colour on the orange,

0:15:13 > 0:15:15and I'm just giving the bottom parts of the grapes

0:15:15 > 0:15:18a little bit of shadow there, and I'm going to come back

0:15:18 > 0:15:22with a lighter one on that one. OK, I'm going back to one-handed.

0:15:22 > 0:15:25Going to add some darker orange and I'm just really sketchily doing it,

0:15:25 > 0:15:28because I've got a trick up my sleeve with that oil.

0:15:29 > 0:15:32So, I'm adding a lot of different colours

0:15:32 > 0:15:35that you wouldn't think you'd find on here but if you look closely,

0:15:35 > 0:15:39there are little bits of blue and purple on parts of the pineapple.

0:15:39 > 0:15:41It's surprising what colours are hiding in there.

0:15:41 > 0:15:45It looks so arty, and cool!

0:15:45 > 0:15:47I'm really hoping it's going to be pretty cool.

0:15:47 > 0:15:50So, now, I've coloured in my picture with pencils,

0:15:50 > 0:15:51it's time to use the oil.

0:15:52 > 0:15:54This oil is not for babies today.

0:15:56 > 0:16:00I'm going to use little cotton buds, I'm going to dip it in the oil.

0:16:00 > 0:16:03Get the excess oil off and I'm going to start

0:16:03 > 0:16:05fading in and blending in the colours.

0:16:05 > 0:16:08But all the separate sketchy colours are now blending in

0:16:08 > 0:16:11all nice and smooth, giving it a lovely paint effect.

0:16:14 > 0:16:16And when I'm changing colours,

0:16:16 > 0:16:19I'm using either the other end of the cotton bud

0:16:19 > 0:16:22or a new cotton bud, so you don't smudge the colours together

0:16:22 > 0:16:24and the reason I used a permanent pen earlier

0:16:24 > 0:16:26is because the oil doesn't make the ink run.

0:16:27 > 0:16:30So, I'm making my way down the pineapple now.

0:16:30 > 0:16:33And all the other colours you wouldn't expect to see there

0:16:33 > 0:16:37are blending in nicely to create shadows and some highlights.

0:16:39 > 0:16:43And now, I'm just finishing up by just blending in the bowl.

0:16:43 > 0:16:46OK, girls, are you ready to see it?

0:16:46 > 0:16:47- BOTH:- Yes!

0:16:47 > 0:16:49What do you make of this?

0:16:50 > 0:16:54- It's really cool! - Ah, yeah.

0:16:54 > 0:16:57You know what, I'm so happy with it, I think it deserves a frame.

0:16:57 > 0:17:00So, what would you guys give it out of ten?

0:17:00 > 0:17:04- BOTH:- We give it a special ten!

0:17:04 > 0:17:06Oh, like a bunch of grapes.

0:17:06 > 0:17:08I "vitamin C" what you did there!

0:17:08 > 0:17:11Thanks for your suggestion, guys, you've been awesome. Bye-bye!

0:17:11 > 0:17:13- BOTH:- Bye, Ricky!

0:17:23 > 0:17:26Here's a quick art tip, how to draw a pirate ship.

0:17:26 > 0:17:29So, I'm going to start with the water line.

0:17:29 > 0:17:32That's just joined-up curves.

0:17:32 > 0:17:34I'm going to draw the hull of the ship,

0:17:34 > 0:17:38so it's going to have a curve at the front, a rectangle that juts out -

0:17:38 > 0:17:39that's going to be the bow.

0:17:39 > 0:17:43Down here to make the deck and then a rectangle

0:17:43 > 0:17:46that sticks out of the back and a similar curve for the stern.

0:17:46 > 0:17:48Now, I need some cannon holes.

0:17:48 > 0:17:51It's a pirate ship having lots of sea battles.

0:17:55 > 0:18:00Just a couple of detail lines here because the ship is made out of wood

0:18:00 > 0:18:02and these will be the planks.

0:18:02 > 0:18:04Now, some nice big sails push it along.

0:18:04 > 0:18:06I'm going to angle them like this like they're catching the wind.

0:18:13 > 0:18:15I'm going to draw these two masts.

0:18:15 > 0:18:16Connecting up my sails.

0:18:19 > 0:18:21And, at the very top, these little flags, as well.

0:18:25 > 0:18:28It wouldn't be a pirate ship without a skull and crossbones.

0:18:36 > 0:18:38There we go. Another quick art tip.

0:18:45 > 0:18:48QUACKING

0:18:52 > 0:18:53Argh!

0:18:57 > 0:18:59Oh! TEXT ALERT

0:18:59 > 0:19:02It's that researcher from the Who On Earth Are You? show.

0:19:02 > 0:19:08He says my great grandfather could be a notorious ninja pirate.

0:19:15 > 0:19:16Argh!

0:19:16 > 0:19:20That's more like it! I can see myself as a pirate.

0:19:20 > 0:19:23Now I can LITERALLY see myself as a pirate!

0:19:23 > 0:19:25Om!

0:19:26 > 0:19:29- Om... Ooh! - CRASHING

0:19:30 > 0:19:33Greetings, ninja pirate dude.

0:19:33 > 0:19:38It's the Grand Master, ancestor of all ninjas.

0:19:38 > 0:19:45Step number 1066 to enlightenment!

0:19:45 > 0:19:48Flying object of many thoughts.

0:19:49 > 0:19:51Origami Frisbee!

0:19:51 > 0:19:52Yeah.

0:19:52 > 0:19:55Get yourself some memo notes.

0:19:55 > 0:19:58Take one and fold it, like this.

0:19:58 > 0:20:01Corner-to-corner, into a triangle.

0:20:01 > 0:20:04Bottom point up to the top corner.

0:20:06 > 0:20:08Make three more of this colour, dude.

0:20:09 > 0:20:11Grab some different colour memo notes.

0:20:12 > 0:20:16Pink! Fold four of these the same way.

0:20:19 > 0:20:22You need eight to make a circle, dude.

0:20:23 > 0:20:26Take one of each colour.

0:20:26 > 0:20:30Put the big point of one inside the small opening of the other.

0:20:32 > 0:20:34Repeat with all of them.

0:20:34 > 0:20:37Alternating the colours until you have a circle.

0:20:39 > 0:20:42Make it stronger with pieces of sticky tape.

0:20:42 > 0:20:43Kerblammo!

0:20:46 > 0:20:50A flying object of many folds.

0:20:50 > 0:20:54Lesson number 1066, complete.

0:20:54 > 0:20:56Wow! Nice one, Grand Master.

0:20:56 > 0:20:58I am enlightened.

0:20:58 > 0:21:00You are most welcome.

0:21:04 > 0:21:07Such big ideas for a man of such small stature.

0:21:10 > 0:21:11Om!

0:21:14 > 0:21:16If my great grandad was a pirate,

0:21:16 > 0:21:18maybe I can make some sea-worthy art.

0:21:20 > 0:21:22I might have to ditch this hat, though.

0:21:26 > 0:21:29- PHONE RINGS - Hi, Ricky.

0:21:29 > 0:21:30Ahoy, me hearty!

0:21:30 > 0:21:34Or should I say, "me arty"!

0:21:34 > 0:21:38Meet me at the beach for some art to treasure!

0:21:58 > 0:21:59Aye-aye, it's Sarah!

0:22:04 > 0:22:05Ninja skills!

0:22:05 > 0:22:09- Hey, Sarah. Can I come under? - Yeah, it's a bit soggy.- Yeah.

0:22:09 > 0:22:10Why are you wearing an eye patch?

0:22:10 > 0:22:15Because I've got pirate ancestors, which makes me the Arrrr Ninja.

0:22:15 > 0:22:17Which means I get a parrot.

0:22:17 > 0:22:19Check it out. "Polly want a cracker?

0:22:19 > 0:22:22"Oh, shiver me timbers!

0:22:22 > 0:22:24"Pieces of eight."

0:22:24 > 0:22:26Pieces of skate, more like!

0:22:26 > 0:22:28You're the first skateboarding pirate ninja.

0:22:28 > 0:22:29Oh, thanks. Oh, Polly!

0:22:29 > 0:22:31Oh, Polly...

0:22:31 > 0:22:33Anyway, the reason I've brought you here

0:22:33 > 0:22:35is to make some really epic seafaring art.

0:22:35 > 0:22:36Like, it's going to be quite hard graft,

0:22:36 > 0:22:39- so we're going to need a lot of muscle.- It's all right.

0:22:39 > 0:22:41I've got a load of mussel, like, I've got a mussel here,

0:22:41 > 0:22:43got mussel there, a whole bucket of mussels.

0:22:43 > 0:22:45Oh, give me strength. It's the sort of thing Gavin would say!

0:22:45 > 0:22:48All right, well, look, before we get our ninja on,

0:22:48 > 0:22:50can you put some sun cream on my nose?

0:22:50 > 0:22:53- Really?- Yeah. I burn really easily.

0:22:54 > 0:22:55Please!

0:22:56 > 0:22:58Well, let's get our ninja on.

0:23:05 > 0:23:06Art Ninja!

0:23:08 > 0:23:09- Strike a pose.- Art Ninja!

0:23:12 > 0:23:13Yeah!

0:23:16 > 0:23:19My great-great-great grandfather, he had the sea legs.

0:23:21 > 0:23:24But a pirate's life is not for me. I'm going to bail.

0:23:28 > 0:23:30Well, come on, Sarah.

0:23:34 > 0:23:37Hey, Tom, me old, salty sea dog.

0:23:37 > 0:23:39- Hey, Ricky.- You all right? - Yeah, great.

0:23:39 > 0:23:41You up for helping us make some epic sand art?

0:23:41 > 0:23:43- Definitely. Let's do it.- Awesome.

0:23:43 > 0:23:47But, first, I've got a gag from one of my old ancestors.

0:23:47 > 0:23:48Oh, yeah?

0:23:48 > 0:23:52What happened when the sea weed?

0:23:52 > 0:23:57Look, let's not rake out old jokes. Grab that and get to work.

0:23:59 > 0:24:01OK, Tom, so what are we up to here?

0:24:01 > 0:24:03OK, Ricky, so we're right at the top of our drawing at the moment

0:24:03 > 0:24:05and this is just a tiny part of it.

0:24:05 > 0:24:07- It's massive, isn't it? - It's really big.

0:24:07 > 0:24:09So, if you want to start here, Ricky,

0:24:09 > 0:24:11and Sarah, if you start over there.

0:24:17 > 0:24:19So, we're just doing the outline now,

0:24:19 > 0:24:20it doesn't look like much, though.

0:24:20 > 0:24:22Well, it doesn't look like much now,

0:24:22 > 0:24:24but once you stand up on the promenade over there,

0:24:24 > 0:24:26you'll be able to see when it's all finished.

0:24:38 > 0:24:40Ricky, I'd like to say it's coming together

0:24:40 > 0:24:42but I don't know what it's supposed to be.

0:24:42 > 0:24:45Let's just say, this picture's going to be pretty crackin'!

0:24:57 > 0:25:01You see this? This is a pro rake.

0:25:01 > 0:25:05This part's for doing the main lines, and this is for the shading.

0:25:05 > 0:25:06And for better coverage...

0:25:08 > 0:25:12..it's got a trick up its sleeve. And if it looks dangerous,

0:25:12 > 0:25:13it probably is.

0:25:26 > 0:25:28Hi, Tom, what bit shall we do next?

0:25:28 > 0:25:30So, at the moment, we're colouring in.

0:25:30 > 0:25:33So, if we can find this mast here and shade that in with your rake,

0:25:33 > 0:25:35- that'll be brilliant.- Awesome.

0:25:45 > 0:25:48Ricky, I still don't know what this is supposed to be.

0:25:48 > 0:25:51Well, let me just add the last little finishing touches,

0:25:51 > 0:25:53and you remember I said it was "cracking"?

0:25:53 > 0:25:57Well, behold our giant, beautiful kraken!

0:26:09 > 0:26:11Oh, that looks amazing!

0:26:11 > 0:26:13I know, right? So, if you want to get a better view,

0:26:13 > 0:26:16- why don't you look through this?- OK.

0:26:21 > 0:26:23HE LAUGHS

0:26:23 > 0:26:26What? Have I got something on my face?

0:26:26 > 0:26:28Just like my ancestors.

0:26:28 > 0:26:30The old ones are the best.

0:26:39 > 0:26:42ROARING

0:26:52 > 0:26:56I may not have found any treasure but the art was priceless.

0:26:56 > 0:27:00Today has taught me a valuable Art Ninja lesson.

0:27:00 > 0:27:02When taking a look at your family tree,

0:27:02 > 0:27:05watch out for surprises from under the sea.

0:27:05 > 0:27:06It's time for some rest.

0:27:10 > 0:27:12Oh, I've left my socks on.

0:27:21 > 0:27:23SEAGULL CALLS

0:27:23 > 0:27:27SHIP'S FOGHORN

0:27:27 > 0:27:30'If this sand doesn't stop soon, I'm going to scream!'

0:27:30 > 0:27:33Arrrrrrrgh!
