0:00:03 > 0:00:04I'm Ricky.

0:00:04 > 0:00:06I live in Bristol.

0:00:06 > 0:00:11I work as an animator, which is lucky, because I love art.

0:00:11 > 0:00:13I live for art, I even dream of art.

0:00:13 > 0:00:16I draw. I paint.

0:00:16 > 0:00:17I make things.

0:00:19 > 0:00:24Nailed it! I hang out with my mates, Gavin, Rich, and Sarah.

0:00:24 > 0:00:25SHE SCREAMS

0:00:25 > 0:00:28Most importantly, I make ninja moves.

0:00:28 > 0:00:29Some people call me the...

0:00:33 > 0:00:37Today, I'll show you how to make a tasty-looking cushion.

0:00:37 > 0:00:41There's cracking art with this mouthwatering mosaic.

0:00:41 > 0:00:46And we've got good vibrations with art that sounds delicious.

0:00:47 > 0:00:48Because today, it's...

0:00:56 > 0:00:57It's a new day.

0:00:57 > 0:01:00I'd better get my ninja on.

0:01:00 > 0:01:01And my clothes.

0:01:11 > 0:01:13It's a new day!

0:01:13 > 0:01:14That doesn't usually happen.

0:01:21 > 0:01:22Hey, Gav! What's cooking?

0:01:22 > 0:01:25We are, mate. Check this out!

0:01:25 > 0:01:26"Food Fest Bristol.

0:01:26 > 0:01:28"We're looking for locals to enter their entrees in

0:01:28 > 0:01:31"The Of Best Of Bristol Food Competition."

0:01:31 > 0:01:34And the best part is, it's going to be judged by Nadiya Hussain!

0:01:34 > 0:01:37Winner of The Great British Bake Off!

0:01:37 > 0:01:39I know, right? She's awesome!

0:01:39 > 0:01:41I really want to impress the judges!

0:01:41 > 0:01:45That's a great idea. Now you're the one with the "mad food skills",

0:01:45 > 0:01:47so you get practising, I've got art to make.

0:01:50 > 0:01:54I'm going to make... the Art Ninja no-sew burger cushion!

0:01:54 > 0:01:57So I've got a big piece of brown material here.

0:01:57 > 0:01:59I'm just going to lay it out on my table...

0:02:01 > 0:02:03..and tape it down.

0:02:03 > 0:02:06I've made this little contraption here from a piece of card that will

0:02:06 > 0:02:08help me draw perfect circles.

0:02:08 > 0:02:09Basically using it like a compass.

0:02:11 > 0:02:13I'm putting one pencil in the hole here to hold it still,

0:02:13 > 0:02:16and another pencil through this hole.

0:02:20 > 0:02:23And now I've made another hole here for my inner circle.

0:02:27 > 0:02:29Go across now.

0:02:29 > 0:02:32Now, this circle's going to be a bit bigger.

0:02:32 > 0:02:33The inner circle again.

0:02:35 > 0:02:37There we go, I'm going to cut this out.

0:02:38 > 0:02:44But these two circles are the secret to the no-sewing burger.

0:02:44 > 0:02:45There we go.

0:02:45 > 0:02:48Now I'm going to cut slits into my circles from the outer rim

0:02:48 > 0:02:50to the inner rim, but no further.

0:02:54 > 0:02:55Moving on to my big circle,

0:02:55 > 0:02:59and I want to make sure there's the same amount of tassels on this as

0:02:59 > 0:03:02there are on the small one. There we go.

0:03:02 > 0:03:05I'm going to lay the smaller circle on top of the bigger circle.

0:03:05 > 0:03:09Now we're going to take the tassels and start tying them in knots.

0:03:09 > 0:03:13And I'm doing double knots here to make sure it doesn't come apart.

0:03:16 > 0:03:18I don't want to tie knots all the way around yet,

0:03:18 > 0:03:20because I want to put the stuffing in first.

0:03:20 > 0:03:24And before I do that, I'm going to turn it inside out.

0:03:24 > 0:03:26Now I'm going to stuff it.

0:03:26 > 0:03:28And I'm not using your normal stuffing,

0:03:28 > 0:03:31I'm using some old carrier bags that I've been collecting.

0:03:31 > 0:03:34You can use all sorts of things to stuff your cushion.

0:03:34 > 0:03:37You could use old clothes, old bits of fabric.

0:03:37 > 0:03:39Just anything nice and soft.

0:03:39 > 0:03:42Now I'm going to tie up the rest of my tassels.

0:03:42 > 0:03:43There we go.

0:03:43 > 0:03:45Now I'm just going to push it out,

0:03:45 > 0:03:47so it's nice and flat, like a burger.

0:03:47 > 0:03:51That's looking pretty good! But now this burger is going to need a bun.

0:03:51 > 0:03:54So I'm going to use my ninja skills.

0:03:55 > 0:03:56There we go!

0:03:56 > 0:04:00And these two buns are made exactly the same way as the burger patty.

0:04:02 > 0:04:04I don't know about you, but I like a bit of garnish on my burgers.

0:04:04 > 0:04:06So I've got myself a duster here,

0:04:06 > 0:04:09and I want to create a kind of Swiss cheese look,

0:04:09 > 0:04:12and I'm going to cut half circles into the fold

0:04:12 > 0:04:15so that, when I open it up, it's a nice, round circle.

0:04:15 > 0:04:19We're going to dot these all over the material.

0:04:19 > 0:04:21There we go.

0:04:21 > 0:04:22That's looking pretty cheesy.

0:04:22 > 0:04:26And using some other material, I've made myself some healthy lettuce.

0:04:26 > 0:04:28That's from an old towel and some wool.

0:04:28 > 0:04:31Some tasty tomato from some old T-shirts.

0:04:31 > 0:04:34And I'm going to put my lettuce underneath the burger patty...

0:04:36 > 0:04:39..the cheese on top, and the tomato on top of that.

0:04:39 > 0:04:43And I've got one last finishing touch for the top of my bun.

0:04:43 > 0:04:45And that is some beads.

0:04:45 > 0:04:46And I'm going to glue them on with fabric glue,

0:04:46 > 0:04:48and they're going to look like sesame seeds.

0:04:48 > 0:04:51Sesa-who? Sesa-me!

0:04:54 > 0:04:57There you go, the Art Ninja no-sew burger cushion!

0:05:06 > 0:05:07You could also make...

0:05:07 > 0:05:10..a cushion, like this delicious cupcake!

0:05:12 > 0:05:14Or even a tasty-looking piece of sushi.

0:05:16 > 0:05:18Mm-mmm!

0:05:24 > 0:05:26Gav, whatever you've made smells amazing!

0:05:26 > 0:05:30- When do I get to try it?- Right...

0:05:30 > 0:05:31..now!

0:05:31 > 0:05:34This is my special culinary creation.

0:05:34 > 0:05:38- Toffee apple surprise. - I wonder what the surprise is?

0:05:40 > 0:05:44Gavin has made a delicious crunchy honey-crisp apple,

0:05:44 > 0:05:47drizzled with a deep rich toffee jus,

0:05:47 > 0:05:50dressed with delicate confectionery sprinkles.

0:05:50 > 0:05:54He's also included his signature mad cooking skills surprise

0:05:54 > 0:05:56on the inside.

0:06:02 > 0:06:05Oh, Gavin! Baked beans?

0:06:05 > 0:06:06- What were you thinking?- What?

0:06:06 > 0:06:11All the best chefs love adding a distinctive twist to their recipes.

0:06:11 > 0:06:13Maybe you don't have a sophisticated palate!

0:06:13 > 0:06:15Sophisticated...

0:06:15 > 0:06:18Mate, you need to go back to the chopping board and come up with

0:06:18 > 0:06:21something less mad. Rustle up a dessert or something.

0:06:21 > 0:06:23Oh, everyone's a food critic.

0:06:23 > 0:06:25I'll get some more ingredients.

0:06:25 > 0:06:27Ricky, Ricky, Ricky!

0:06:27 > 0:06:29It's the ninja apprentices!

0:06:29 > 0:06:31I wonder what they've got on the menu?

0:06:31 > 0:06:32Can you make art with a blanket?

0:06:32 > 0:06:37- I'm afraid I've already covered that one.- Oh...

0:06:37 > 0:06:39Hey, it's Naomi from Marrying Mum And Dad!

0:06:39 > 0:06:41Oh! Hello, Ricky!

0:06:41 > 0:06:43That looks tasty.

0:06:43 > 0:06:44Here's a challenge for you.

0:06:44 > 0:06:49Can you make art using a doughnut?

0:06:53 > 0:06:55I "doughnut" believe it!

0:06:57 > 0:06:58Doughnut!

0:06:58 > 0:07:02- But I really wanted a bite.- Bye.

0:07:02 > 0:07:07- Ricky, can you make art out of lasagne?- That "pasta" be the one.

0:07:07 > 0:07:10Yay!

0:07:10 > 0:07:11So what are your names?

0:07:11 > 0:07:15- Nate and Barney.- Nice to meet you, guys, and where are you from?

0:07:15 > 0:07:17We're from Cardiff!

0:07:17 > 0:07:19Oh, great, just down the road!

0:07:19 > 0:07:21Right, I'm just going to grab some bits, and I'll be right back.

0:07:21 > 0:07:25Hey, guys, I've got myself some paper, some paint, some glue,

0:07:25 > 0:07:27lasagne sheets, of course.

0:07:27 > 0:07:30I'm going to start by painting my lasagne sheets.

0:07:30 > 0:07:32- Cool.- Start with a nice green...

0:07:35 > 0:07:38I've put down some paper just to protect my kitchen top.

0:07:39 > 0:07:42And I only need to paint one side of the pasta sheets.

0:07:42 > 0:07:44I'm going to go yellow...

0:07:44 > 0:07:47- Ooh!- You guys like arts and crafts?

0:07:47 > 0:07:50- I see some art behind you. - We love painting!

0:07:50 > 0:07:53- Have you ever painted food? - Never painted food.

0:07:53 > 0:07:54- Never painted food?- No.

0:07:54 > 0:07:57Remember, you can't eat it once you've painted it, obviously.

0:07:57 > 0:07:59Well, hopefully I can inspire you

0:07:59 > 0:08:01to do something with your lasagne sheets.

0:08:01 > 0:08:05- Yeah, cool! - Hmm, let's have a dark green now.

0:08:07 > 0:08:09Is there anything you can teach me?

0:08:09 > 0:08:11We will teach you a bit of Welsh.

0:08:11 > 0:08:13All right then.

0:08:13 > 0:08:16Mae gen i ffrind o'r enw Ricky.

0:08:16 > 0:08:19- And what does that mean? - I've got a friend called Ricky.

0:08:19 > 0:08:20Oh! Is it me?

0:08:20 > 0:08:22Yes!

0:08:22 > 0:08:25- Do you guys have any hobbies? - Rugby and kung fu.

0:08:25 > 0:08:27Wow. How about you, Bernie?

0:08:27 > 0:08:32- I play rugby and football. - Very active guys.

0:08:32 > 0:08:35Right, I've painted all my lasagne sheets, and they're pretty dry.

0:08:35 > 0:08:39Now I need to call upon some of those kung fu ninja skills to help

0:08:39 > 0:08:41me break them. Ready?

0:08:41 > 0:08:43Three, two, one!

0:08:45 > 0:08:48Whoa! Easy, guys, there's barely anything left!

0:08:50 > 0:08:52I'm going to lay down my piece of paper.

0:08:52 > 0:08:55The great thing about lasagne is you can snap it

0:08:55 > 0:08:58into any size pieces you want. I'm using PVA glue.

0:08:58 > 0:09:01It's perfect for this job.

0:09:01 > 0:09:03- So what do you think the picture's going to be of?- Uh...

0:09:03 > 0:09:06I'll give you a clue, it's my favourite fruit.

0:09:06 > 0:09:09- Bananas?- You're bananas.

0:09:09 > 0:09:10You'll see in the end.

0:09:12 > 0:09:15These small bits of pasta are going to make a mosaic.

0:09:15 > 0:09:16Do you guys know what a mosaic is?

0:09:16 > 0:09:21I've learned about mosaics, in the Roman times!

0:09:21 > 0:09:22Yeah, like the Romans.

0:09:22 > 0:09:26So if you guys could make art out of any food, what would you use?

0:09:26 > 0:09:30I would use two oranges and a banana.

0:09:30 > 0:09:31A smiley face!

0:09:31 > 0:09:34Nice, I like it.

0:09:34 > 0:09:36I'm going to start with a background now.

0:09:36 > 0:09:38And I'm going to use blue.

0:09:38 > 0:09:40I really want it to stand out.

0:09:50 > 0:09:52Nearly there.

0:09:52 > 0:09:54I hope you're going to like it.

0:09:54 > 0:09:58OK, guys. I've finished it, are you ready to see?

0:09:58 > 0:10:00- Yes!- Yes!- What do you think?

0:10:00 > 0:10:03Yay!

0:10:03 > 0:10:07- What would you score it out of ten? - Ten!- Ten!

0:10:07 > 0:10:09- Two tens!- Oh, yes!

0:10:09 > 0:10:12I'm so happy with that, I'm going to give it a frame.

0:10:12 > 0:10:15- Thanks for your suggestion! Bye-bye!- Bye, Ricky!

0:10:27 > 0:10:30PHONE RINGS

0:10:30 > 0:10:32- Hi, Mum!- Hi, Ricky!

0:10:32 > 0:10:34- It's your mum!- Obviously.

0:10:34 > 0:10:36Have you heard about Food Fest Bristol?

0:10:36 > 0:10:38Are you and Gav entering?

0:10:38 > 0:10:40I've always thought he was sweet.

0:10:40 > 0:10:43Here's what's coming up on your delicious show.

0:10:43 > 0:10:45Gorgeous portraits made from chocolate.

0:10:45 > 0:10:49"Squeezy" does it with this juice bottle made from jelly.

0:10:49 > 0:10:52And get "bready" for a slice of this animation.

0:10:52 > 0:10:56Anyway, Ricky, I better go, I think Dad's burning the cheese on toast!

0:10:56 > 0:10:58Or is that just his socks on the radiator again?

0:10:58 > 0:11:00- Bye!- Bye.

0:11:02 > 0:11:04Well, that was food for thought.

0:11:04 > 0:11:07A thought I could seriously do without.

0:11:09 > 0:11:10It's the Grand Master!

0:11:10 > 0:11:12Um... Whoa!

0:11:14 > 0:11:15I'm OK, man!

0:11:15 > 0:11:18- Greetings, dude!- Hey, Grand Master.

0:11:18 > 0:11:21Lesson 99 to enlightenment,

0:11:21 > 0:11:26receptacle of refreshing beverage that wobbles when shaken!

0:11:27 > 0:11:29Jelly juice bottle.

0:11:29 > 0:11:30Let's do it!

0:11:32 > 0:11:34Get some jelly and a jug of water.

0:11:34 > 0:11:37Break the jelly into pieces.

0:11:37 > 0:11:40Ask a grown-up to help microwave it, man.

0:11:40 > 0:11:42Yeah, my lunch!

0:11:42 > 0:11:44- Can I have some, dude?- No, dude!

0:11:46 > 0:11:47DING!

0:11:47 > 0:11:48Oh...

0:11:52 > 0:11:54Give it a mix!

0:11:54 > 0:11:58Grab an empty bottle and take the label off.

0:11:58 > 0:12:00Squeeze it and cut a small hole!

0:12:01 > 0:12:05Put it on a towel to stop it rolling around.

0:12:05 > 0:12:08Carefully pour the jelly into the bottle.

0:12:11 > 0:12:14Then put it in the fridge!

0:12:14 > 0:12:16Cool!

0:12:16 > 0:12:18Check the jelly's set, man!

0:12:22 > 0:12:26Then carefully cut the plastic bottle off!

0:12:33 > 0:12:36Wrap a clean label around the jelly bottle...

0:12:38 > 0:12:40..and put the lid on the top!

0:12:41 > 0:12:42Far out!

0:12:49 > 0:12:52Lesson number 99 complete!

0:12:52 > 0:12:54I am most enlightened.

0:12:54 > 0:12:57Hum... Hum...

0:13:02 > 0:13:04Hi, Ricky, have you seen this?

0:13:04 > 0:13:06I might enter my entree.

0:13:06 > 0:13:10Seen it, and we're cooking up a storm. Well, Gav is.

0:13:10 > 0:13:13Is that Sarah? Tell her she can't come in!

0:13:13 > 0:13:15- What's he making?- Nothing!

0:13:15 > 0:13:18Oi, don't try and pinch any of our ideas!

0:13:18 > 0:13:19- It's ready!- Coming!

0:13:24 > 0:13:26And for dessert...

0:13:26 > 0:13:28Ta-da!

0:13:28 > 0:13:30Profiteroles, my favourite!

0:13:34 > 0:13:37Gavin, is that a Brussels sprout?

0:13:39 > 0:13:42I said to rustle up a dessert, not "Brussel" up a dessert!

0:13:44 > 0:13:46At least the pastry has chocolate sauce on it.

0:13:46 > 0:13:50Not so much chocolate sauce as egg and hoisin sauce reduction.

0:13:52 > 0:13:54With mad food like this,

0:13:54 > 0:13:56we're going to be laughing stocks at Food Fest Bristol!

0:13:56 > 0:13:58SHE BREAKS WIND

0:14:01 > 0:14:03It's going to be a stinker!

0:14:09 > 0:14:11I think this is a safe distance.

0:14:11 > 0:14:14That did not smell good and Gav's profiteroles...

0:14:14 > 0:14:18Ugh! I've still got a horrible taste in my mouth.

0:14:18 > 0:14:22I know what will do the trick, some chocolate.

0:14:22 > 0:14:24Mmm.

0:14:26 > 0:14:27I do love chocolate.

0:14:27 > 0:14:29Hola, Ricky!

0:14:29 > 0:14:32Who are you, and what are you doing on my chocolate bar?

0:14:32 > 0:14:35I am Brazilian artist Vik Muniz.

0:14:35 > 0:14:38I have often used chocolate syrup to make paintings.

0:14:38 > 0:14:40Here's one of my works now.

0:14:42 > 0:14:46Some people compare my use of wet, shiny chocolate syrup

0:14:46 > 0:14:50to the splatter painting of artist Jackson Pollock.

0:14:50 > 0:14:54- Sweet.- Not all of my work is edible, though.

0:14:54 > 0:14:57I've also used diamonds, thread, and rubbish.

0:14:57 > 0:15:01Rubbish? Now it definitely sounds like Gav's food.

0:15:01 > 0:15:03But if you don't mind, I've got art to make.

0:15:03 > 0:15:06Yes, I'd better be "Cocoa-ing".

0:15:07 > 0:15:09Ciao.

0:15:09 > 0:15:10Ciao, indeed!

0:15:10 > 0:15:13Because I'm going to be able to chow down on this art,

0:15:13 > 0:15:16because Vik's inspired me to make a chocolate portrait.

0:15:17 > 0:15:19So I've got a printout of the ninja here.

0:15:19 > 0:15:22And I'm going to lay a sheet of acetate over the top of it.

0:15:22 > 0:15:25And I've got a bar of dark chocolate and a sandwich bag,

0:15:25 > 0:15:29and I'm just going to break it up and put it on the inside.

0:15:29 > 0:15:32Don't worry, my hands are nice and clean.

0:15:32 > 0:15:34The smaller you break it up, the better.

0:15:34 > 0:15:36Now to put the chocolate inside the bag...

0:15:38 > 0:15:41Zip it up like that. Now I've got a bowl of warm water.

0:15:41 > 0:15:44This is in hot water, because hot water could melt my plastic bag,

0:15:44 > 0:15:46and it will burn the chocolate

0:15:46 > 0:15:48and make it not so good at making art with.

0:15:48 > 0:15:53I'm also going to pop in there some milk chocolate...

0:15:53 > 0:15:54..and some white chocolate.

0:15:56 > 0:15:58Now your chocolate may take a while to melt,

0:15:58 > 0:16:00but I've got ninja chocolate.

0:16:02 > 0:16:04Now I'm going to start with the dark chocolate,

0:16:04 > 0:16:07and I'm going to cut a little slit into the bag.

0:16:07 > 0:16:11And now I'm going to start piping the chocolate onto my acetate,

0:16:11 > 0:16:14tracing the design underneath.

0:16:14 > 0:16:15As the ninja is the darkest colour,

0:16:15 > 0:16:17I'm using dark chocolate to colour him in.

0:16:25 > 0:16:27I'm trying to do this as neat as I can,

0:16:27 > 0:16:29so my design has a crisp outline.

0:16:31 > 0:16:34All right. Now I'm going to move on to milk chocolate...

0:16:34 > 0:16:36to do the red stripes.

0:16:36 > 0:16:39So again, I'm going to cut a little slit into the bag.

0:16:39 > 0:16:41And I can just go straight over the top

0:16:41 > 0:16:43of where I've done the ninja's arms and feet.

0:16:47 > 0:16:49If it starts to become hard to pipe,

0:16:49 > 0:16:51because there's lumps in the chocolate,

0:16:51 > 0:16:53it means it's started to set,

0:16:53 > 0:16:55so you have to pop it back in the warm water to melt it again.

0:16:57 > 0:17:01I'm drawing the outlines first, and then filling in the colours.

0:17:01 > 0:17:03Now I'm going to move on to some white chocolate

0:17:03 > 0:17:05for the background and the details of the ninja.

0:17:16 > 0:17:18I'm covering all the way across the picture,

0:17:18 > 0:17:20because this will seal the colours together.

0:17:20 > 0:17:23Now I still need to be a little bit careful here so as not to disturb

0:17:23 > 0:17:25the other chocolate colours.

0:17:25 > 0:17:28There you go, I've finished my white chocolate.

0:17:28 > 0:17:30And to set, it needs to be cool.

0:17:34 > 0:17:37Right, I was so cool, that my picture has set.

0:17:37 > 0:17:38You can use a fridge.

0:17:38 > 0:17:41Now I'm going to carefully turn it over...

0:17:41 > 0:17:43Get rid of my printout now.

0:17:43 > 0:17:47There we go. Oh, and the acetate's come away, so I can peel that off.

0:17:49 > 0:17:50And look at that!

0:17:52 > 0:17:57There you go, my chocolate portrait inspired by Vik Muniz!

0:17:57 > 0:17:59So good, I think I'll give it a taste!

0:18:02 > 0:18:03Mmm!

0:18:06 > 0:18:10Here's a quick art tip of how to draw a cake using a spiral.

0:18:10 > 0:18:12So I'm going to start with a spiral.

0:18:13 > 0:18:16Big one to begin with, working it up into smaller ones.

0:18:16 > 0:18:21And this is just a rough guide for the sizes of the tiers of my cake.

0:18:21 > 0:18:23Now I'm going to move on to some pen,

0:18:23 > 0:18:25and I'm going to add a few cherries,

0:18:25 > 0:18:27and that's because they're in the foreground.

0:18:27 > 0:18:29Now I'm going to add the candles,

0:18:29 > 0:18:33and they are just very thin rectangles...

0:18:33 > 0:18:35..with a few stripes.

0:18:35 > 0:18:38The wick at the top, and the flames are like wiggly tears.

0:18:40 > 0:18:43Now I'm going to do the structure of the cake.

0:18:43 > 0:18:47Obviously not drawing any lines that are behind my cherries

0:18:47 > 0:18:49or any of my foreground elements.

0:18:49 > 0:18:52And the icing, which is basically a wobbly line on each tier,

0:18:52 > 0:18:55like it's dribbled over the sides.

0:18:55 > 0:18:58A couple of dots to show that it's sponge...

0:18:58 > 0:19:02And this texture just separates the icing from the rest of the cake.

0:19:02 > 0:19:03And finally, a plate.

0:19:06 > 0:19:10There we go, there's a quick art tip of how to draw a cake...

0:19:10 > 0:19:12..using a spiral.

0:19:15 > 0:19:17Mmm!

0:19:20 > 0:19:22Mm-mmm!

0:19:28 > 0:19:32- Peace offering.- And what's the ingredients, eh?

0:19:32 > 0:19:33Anchovies and custard?

0:19:33 > 0:19:36Or maybe there's some minced beef hidden in there somewhere!

0:19:36 > 0:19:37No, mate, just a normal cake.

0:19:39 > 0:19:41Mmm. That's actually delicious.

0:19:41 > 0:19:44Honestly, mate, I just wanted to say sorry.

0:19:44 > 0:19:47Maybe I don't have mad food skills after all.

0:19:47 > 0:19:48All right.

0:19:52 > 0:19:54- Gavin!- I'm sorry!

0:19:56 > 0:19:58Gavin moves fast.

0:19:58 > 0:20:00A bit like this moving picture.

0:20:00 > 0:20:02That's because it's animated.

0:20:03 > 0:20:06Hmm. I'm going to make some toast.

0:20:17 > 0:20:20Whoa! It's a spinning emoji face!

0:20:22 > 0:20:25Don't worry, Loz, it's just an animation.

0:20:25 > 0:20:28And to make this animation, you'll need a loaf of bread,

0:20:28 > 0:20:30a skewer or a lolly stick, a toaster,

0:20:30 > 0:20:33and a tablet with animation app installed.

0:20:33 > 0:20:36And you can put it together in just three ninja moves!

0:20:36 > 0:20:38Ninja move number one.

0:20:38 > 0:20:41Grab your loaf and some skewers, or an old lolly stick,

0:20:41 > 0:20:44and draw your first frame into a slice.

0:20:44 > 0:20:49I'm pushing the skewer into the bread to leave a nice impression.

0:20:49 > 0:20:50A quick tip here,

0:20:50 > 0:20:53if you need to keep drawing circles, just use a glass.

0:20:53 > 0:20:55Ninja move number two,

0:20:55 > 0:20:57put your first slice into the toaster.

0:20:57 > 0:20:59Ask an adult to help you with this.

0:20:59 > 0:21:02Careful when you're getting your toast out, it might be hot.

0:21:02 > 0:21:04Now you do the same process on the rest of the loaf,

0:21:04 > 0:21:07but make sure you keep all your slices in the right order,

0:21:07 > 0:21:09because you have to animate them next!

0:21:09 > 0:21:11Finally, ninja move number three.

0:21:11 > 0:21:12It's time to start shooting.

0:21:12 > 0:21:14So set up your animation app,

0:21:14 > 0:21:17and shoot each frame of your toast popping out of the toaster.

0:21:17 > 0:21:21Safety first, make sure your toaster is unplugged.

0:21:21 > 0:21:23Now I'm doing a little bit of extra ninja skills here,

0:21:23 > 0:21:25and I'm going to be doing some rigging,

0:21:25 > 0:21:27which will hold the bread magically in the air,

0:21:27 > 0:21:28and I'm going to paint it out later.

0:21:31 > 0:21:33OK, we've shot all of our frames.

0:21:33 > 0:21:36I think it's time to take a look at our mini masterpiece!

0:21:41 > 0:21:44- Oh!- What do you think, Loz?

0:21:44 > 0:21:45I think it's amazing!

0:21:45 > 0:21:46Huh?

0:21:51 > 0:21:53- You OK, Ricks?- Yeah, mate.

0:21:53 > 0:21:56There's no point crying over spilt milk or cake mix.

0:21:56 > 0:21:59But time's running out for Food Fest Bristol.

0:21:59 > 0:22:02What are we going to make? We seriously need to think.

0:22:02 > 0:22:03DING!

0:22:03 > 0:22:07Well, a nice sandwich always helps me pontificate.

0:22:07 > 0:22:09Gav, you're a genius!

0:22:09 > 0:22:12We'll make a multi-seeded ninja bread!

0:22:12 > 0:22:15Great! Three, two, one!

0:22:15 > 0:22:16- BOTH:- Bake!

0:22:27 > 0:22:30Oh, Gav, a baking montage!

0:22:30 > 0:22:32I "loaf" that!

0:22:32 > 0:22:35That's "crust" what I "kneaded"!

0:22:35 > 0:22:36Well, now our bread's cooled down,

0:22:36 > 0:22:38we better get it along to the Food Fest!

0:22:38 > 0:22:41Yeah, we "doughnut" want to be late!

0:22:41 > 0:22:43Let's quit it with the hot cross "puns".

0:22:50 > 0:22:52- This looks like the place! - Can't wait to meet Nadiya!

0:22:56 > 0:22:58What, where's Nadiya?

0:22:58 > 0:23:00She probably saw your soggy bottom.

0:23:00 > 0:23:02Where's everybody else, more like?

0:23:02 > 0:23:04I thought the Food Fest would be way more popular.

0:23:04 > 0:23:06Well, they're probably coming soon.

0:23:06 > 0:23:09Yeah, pop your loaves down here, nice and close to the stage.

0:23:12 > 0:23:14Testing, testing, one, two.

0:23:14 > 0:23:17On your marks, get set, bake!

0:23:17 > 0:23:20Nice one, Gav! How about giving us a few scales?

0:23:20 > 0:23:23Oh, OK... Let me remember.

0:23:23 > 0:23:25# Do, re, mi...

0:23:25 > 0:23:27Ah, "dough"! Like baking!

0:23:27 > 0:23:30OK, OK, OK, I've got this, I've got this...

0:23:30 > 0:23:33La!

0:23:33 > 0:23:36RUMBLING

0:23:39 > 0:23:41Wow! Gav, that gives me an idea!

0:23:41 > 0:23:43It's time to get our ninja on!

0:23:48 > 0:23:52Art Ninja! Use your loaf, strike a pose.

0:23:52 > 0:23:57- Art Ninja!- Yeah, that's a real show stopper!

0:23:57 > 0:24:00Gav, I've found something interesting.

0:24:00 > 0:24:02These tables...

0:24:02 > 0:24:03..are on speakers!

0:24:03 > 0:24:06It must be that, when the frequency's just right,

0:24:06 > 0:24:08the vibrations make things move.

0:24:08 > 0:24:10Watch these chocolates.

0:24:21 > 0:24:22Sweet!

0:24:23 > 0:24:25Yes, they've got cake decorations!

0:24:25 > 0:24:26There's millions of them!

0:24:26 > 0:24:28Well, hundreds and thousands!

0:24:32 > 0:24:34OK, Gav, hit me with some feedback!

0:24:34 > 0:24:37Um, you're doing a great job.

0:24:37 > 0:24:39No, hit it!

0:24:55 > 0:24:57Shame they keep bouncing off everywhere, Ricks.

0:24:57 > 0:25:00- They don't work so well.- We've just got to find the right topping.

0:25:04 > 0:25:06Argh!

0:25:15 > 0:25:17Gav, we're making loads of mess!

0:25:17 > 0:25:20Yeah, but we're making rock and roll, baby!

0:25:24 > 0:25:26- Let's try some poppy seeds. - Sounds good.

0:25:30 > 0:25:32- Let's rock!- And roll!

0:25:53 > 0:25:56Gav, you can see the patterns changing!

0:25:56 > 0:25:57One, two, three, four!

0:26:25 > 0:26:28Wah-hoo!

0:26:31 > 0:26:36CHURCH BELLS CHIME

0:26:36 > 0:26:42Rock and roll! Rock and roll!

0:26:45 > 0:26:48Ricky, I thought this was the Food Fest?

0:26:48 > 0:26:52Uh-oh! Come on, Gav, wrong marquee!

0:26:52 > 0:26:55- Let's roll!- Oi, you two!

0:27:01 > 0:27:04Food Fest Bristol nearly descended into a food fight.

0:27:04 > 0:27:07We did get to make art worthy of a marquee, though.

0:27:07 > 0:27:10But we didn't get to meet Nadiya. That's a real shame.

0:27:13 > 0:27:17MOBILE PHONE RINGS

0:27:17 > 0:27:19Oh, hi, is that Gavin?

0:27:19 > 0:27:22It's Nadiya, the judge from Food Fest Bristol.

0:27:22 > 0:27:24Oh... Hi, Nadiya!

0:27:24 > 0:27:27Gavin's not here at the moment. I'm in bed.

0:27:27 > 0:27:32Can you tell him that his best friend Sarah got me his special

0:27:32 > 0:27:34profiteroles, and I don't know what the secret ingredient is,

0:27:34 > 0:27:38but they were delicious, and they've won first prize at the Food Fest?

0:27:38 > 0:27:40Anyway, I've got to go...

0:27:40 > 0:27:42Nice pyjamas, by the way.

0:27:42 > 0:27:45Gav's sprout profiteroles won?

0:27:45 > 0:27:48Ahh!
