0:04:47 > 0:04:51One day, he's walking along when he runs into this old woman

0:04:55 > 0:04:57She says she'll make a friend for the boy

0:04:57 > 0:05:00but only if he promises to bring her a red rose

0:05:00 > 0:05:02on the exact same date next year.

0:05:02 > 0:05:04The boy agrees.

0:05:06 > 0:05:10And the witch creates this other boy from a pile of wood.

0:05:15 > 0:05:19The boy has an amazing time with his new friend,

0:05:19 > 0:05:22who's just like a real kid, except made out of wood,

0:05:22 > 0:05:26but then the year is up and he's forgotten to get the witch a rose.

0:05:26 > 0:05:29He tries everywhere but he can't find one,

0:05:29 > 0:05:32so he and his friend go back to the witch to explain things.

0:05:32 > 0:05:34But she doesn't want to hear it.

0:05:34 > 0:05:37She takes her wand out and turns the boy into a statue

0:05:37 > 0:05:40and his friend back into a pile of wood.

0:05:40 > 0:05:42But the boy's friend isn't just wood now.

0:05:42 > 0:05:47He has known what it's like to be a person. He has feelings.

0:05:47 > 0:05:50He gives the witch a splinter and then rolls onto her foot

0:05:50 > 0:05:52and while she's hopping around in pain,

0:05:52 > 0:05:55she drops her wand right on the pile of wood.

0:05:57 > 0:06:00The wood forms into a hand and grabs the wand.

0:06:00 > 0:06:02He releases the boy from the spell.

0:06:02 > 0:06:06The witch tips over the cauldron, starts a fire and escapes.

0:06:06 > 0:06:08The house goes up in flames.

0:06:08 > 0:06:13The boy gets out just in time, but he only manages to grab one stick

0:06:13 > 0:06:17and he carries that stick around for the rest of his life,

0:06:17 > 0:06:20because he knows that somewhere locked inside that hardwood

0:06:20 > 0:06:23is his best friend.

0:06:27 > 0:06:29I love it!
