0:42:13 > 0:42:14Presenters - at your post.

0:42:14 > 0:42:17We've only got five minutes, so get ready for your Blue Peter adventure.

0:42:19 > 0:42:21For the last three months I've been training for

0:42:21 > 0:42:23the ultimate canoeing challenge -

0:42:23 > 0:42:26to complete the full length of the Olympic slalom canoe course

0:42:26 > 0:42:29at Lee Valley near London,

0:42:29 > 0:42:32one of the toughest stretches of white water in the world.

0:42:33 > 0:42:37During my training in Nottingham, I've got wet - very wet -

0:42:37 > 0:42:39and I've had to battle with the section known

0:42:39 > 0:42:40as the Washing Machine.

0:42:41 > 0:42:44Although I eventually cracked it once,

0:42:44 > 0:42:47my confidence is still really low.

0:42:47 > 0:42:49I'm not sure if this challenge is going to happen.

0:42:49 > 0:42:52My coach, Russ, is worried about my safety.

0:42:52 > 0:42:54He's called me back for a crisis talk.

0:42:54 > 0:42:57OK, Lindsey, I think we need to think about maybe

0:42:57 > 0:42:59having a little plan B.

0:42:59 > 0:43:00When we get to Lee Valley,

0:43:00 > 0:43:03we're going to have a lot of Washing Machines

0:43:03 > 0:43:05stacking up on top of each other.

0:43:05 > 0:43:09I think we need to move away from paddling in a single boat

0:43:09 > 0:43:11and maybe look at going into a double boat.

0:43:11 > 0:43:13'It's tough to hear that I'm not ready to tackle

0:43:13 > 0:43:15'the Olympic course on my own...'

0:43:15 > 0:43:16It's so heavy.

0:43:16 > 0:43:18'..but now I have a new challenge.

0:43:18 > 0:43:20'In a two-man canoe, the person at the back steers

0:43:20 > 0:43:22'and the person at the front provides the power.

0:43:22 > 0:43:26'If you don't peddle together, things can go wrong very quickly,

0:43:26 > 0:43:28'so I need to get used to working as a team.'

0:43:28 > 0:43:29It's hard.

0:43:29 > 0:43:31'I find I can transfer a lot of the strokes I've learnt

0:43:31 > 0:43:35'in the single canoe to this tandem...' Woo!

0:43:35 > 0:43:38'..but Russ is keen to see how I perform on the white water.

0:43:38 > 0:43:39'Bring on the rapids.'

0:43:39 > 0:43:40SHE SCREAMS

0:43:44 > 0:43:46'With Russ helping to keep the boat pointing roughly in the right

0:43:46 > 0:43:49'direction, I can use my power at the front

0:43:49 > 0:43:51'to smash through those waves.

0:43:53 > 0:43:56'For the very first time, I feel like I'm in control.'

0:43:56 > 0:43:58Woo!

0:43:58 > 0:44:02I've gone from massive mistakes that I can't correct by myself

0:44:02 > 0:44:06because I'm not an Olympic canoeist to actually making small mistakes

0:44:06 > 0:44:08that I have time to think about and correct.

0:44:09 > 0:44:11I love canoeing. It's good!

0:44:13 > 0:44:16I might be feeling good now, but this is what awaits me -

0:44:16 > 0:44:20300 metres of the toughest man-made white water course in the world.

0:44:21 > 0:44:24To get down this, I'm going to need a canoeing legend.

0:44:24 > 0:44:28Meet Olympic gold medallist Tim Baillie.

0:44:28 > 0:44:31That looks like Niagara Falls to me,

0:44:31 > 0:44:33cos I've never seen a wave that big in my life.

0:44:33 > 0:44:35And when you come down it, it happens very quickly.

0:44:35 > 0:44:38So as quickly as you get scared it'll be over,

0:44:38 > 0:44:41and either we'll be fine or we'll be going for a surf in the middle.

0:44:41 > 0:44:43That's reassuring. Thanks, Tim.

0:44:43 > 0:44:46But at least we have time to practise on a smaller run

0:44:46 > 0:44:49before we go for it. And, hey, what a way to get there!

0:44:49 > 0:44:50Woo!

0:44:51 > 0:44:53This could be my highlight of the day.

0:44:54 > 0:44:57We've never canoed together before and if we're going to complete

0:44:57 > 0:45:00the course, we need to be perfectly in time.

0:45:00 > 0:45:02We've got just one hour to get it right.

0:45:04 > 0:45:09We try to find our rhythm, but at first we're all over the place.

0:45:09 > 0:45:10OK, stop, stop, stop.

0:45:11 > 0:45:13Wow.

0:45:15 > 0:45:20After several runs we start to click, but will it be enough?

0:45:21 > 0:45:23It's getting so close.

0:45:23 > 0:45:25I feel sick.

0:45:25 > 0:45:26This is scary.

0:45:26 > 0:45:27Right, let's do it.

0:45:28 > 0:45:31The time for practice is over.

0:45:31 > 0:45:33I only have one run,

0:45:33 > 0:45:37one chance to complete this epic course.

0:45:37 > 0:45:41I'll need to remember every bit of my training if we are to succeed.

0:45:41 > 0:45:43Oh, and don't forget the badge!

0:46:01 > 0:46:02This is it.

0:46:02 > 0:46:04Three months of work, let's go.

0:46:09 > 0:46:11- COMMENTATOR:- Watch as they come down the course.

0:46:11 > 0:46:13This is Lindsey's big challenge.

0:46:13 > 0:46:16The force of the water is unbelievable.

0:46:16 > 0:46:19My brain barely has time to compute what's going on

0:46:19 > 0:46:22before we're battered by the next rapid.

0:46:22 > 0:46:26It's just hit after hit of brutal white water.

0:46:26 > 0:46:28- RUSS:- Come on, Lindsey!

0:46:29 > 0:46:33It's like being on the most intense rollercoaster in the world.

0:46:33 > 0:46:36The only difference is I'm in the driving seat.

0:46:42 > 0:46:46Tim is using all his skills to keep us pointing in the right direction.

0:46:47 > 0:46:50But without warning, we almost tip over.

0:46:50 > 0:46:52We just manage to stay upright.

0:46:52 > 0:46:53SHE LAUGHS

0:46:53 > 0:46:55That was close!

0:46:57 > 0:47:00I've never concentrated so hard in my life.

0:47:00 > 0:47:04As the crowd cheer on, my arm muscles are burning with pain,

0:47:04 > 0:47:06but we have to keep paddling.

0:47:11 > 0:47:13RUSS CHEERS

0:47:13 > 0:47:16'And as we turn the last corner,

0:47:16 > 0:47:18'I realise we've done it.'

0:47:18 > 0:47:19Yes!

0:47:19 > 0:47:21- RUSS:- Woo!

0:47:22 > 0:47:24Did it!

0:47:24 > 0:47:26- Oh!- Did it!- Brilliant!

0:47:26 > 0:47:28- Are you crying?- I was a little bit.

0:47:28 > 0:47:30That was proper.

0:47:30 > 0:47:32There were moments when I thought, "We're going in."

0:47:32 > 0:47:34Did you see us tip?

0:47:34 > 0:47:36Yeah, that was, "Oh! Oh!"

0:47:36 > 0:47:39I feel so satisfied and so proud,

0:47:39 > 0:47:42cos I got that feeling at the top of "I don't want to do it"

0:47:42 > 0:47:44and you've just got to do it, just go for it. That was...

0:47:44 > 0:47:46Yeah, that was awesome. I loved it.
