0:00:19 > 0:00:22Ah, riding my bike - the wind in my beard

0:00:22 > 0:00:24and the sun on my face.

0:00:24 > 0:00:25Bliss!

0:00:25 > 0:00:27Say, what?!

0:00:27 > 0:00:30Call that a bike? This is a bike.

0:00:32 > 0:00:34Danny, wait for me.

0:00:34 > 0:00:35Ladies and gentlemen,

0:00:35 > 0:00:37I give you Danny MacAskill.

0:00:37 > 0:00:40Put simply, he is cycling royalty

0:00:40 > 0:00:43and one of my all-time bike heroes.

0:00:44 > 0:00:46He's become world-famous for his films,

0:00:46 > 0:00:49racking up millions upon millions of views online

0:00:49 > 0:00:52as he takes his bike to places you and I would never dream of.

0:00:53 > 0:00:57He is one of the world's greatest street trial bikers

0:00:57 > 0:01:00and I am lucky enough to spend the afternoon with him,

0:01:00 > 0:01:02which makes me so very happy!

0:01:02 > 0:01:04This is one of those moments where I say,

0:01:04 > 0:01:06"Don't try this at home" - he's a professional!

0:01:06 > 0:01:08- Danny, so good to meet you, mate. - Awesome to be here.

0:01:08 > 0:01:10Let's talk about how this started for you.

0:01:10 > 0:01:12You were, I guess, very young.

0:01:12 > 0:01:14Yeah, I only really started on the Isle of Skye.

0:01:14 > 0:01:18There wasn't a lot of things to do in my village,

0:01:18 > 0:01:21so I just used to ride my bike as much as I could.

0:01:21 > 0:01:23And what he does is called trial biking -

0:01:23 > 0:01:26that's trying to take a bike over obstacles

0:01:26 > 0:01:28without putting your feet on the ground,

0:01:28 > 0:01:31and Danny has taken it to the next level.

0:01:32 > 0:01:34It would be ridiculous for me to be here with you today

0:01:34 > 0:01:37- and not have some sort of lesson. - Perfect. I've got a spare bike,

0:01:37 > 0:01:41so if you take my bike and I'll jump on my mountain bike and...

0:01:41 > 0:01:44Yeah. I'll show you a few... Give you a few tips.

0:01:44 > 0:01:45Amazing, let's do it.

0:01:45 > 0:01:49'I'm spending the day with Danny on the streets of Glasgow

0:01:49 > 0:01:52'and first, he's going to show me some local spots.'

0:01:52 > 0:01:55It is one big playground for you, so where we are now, for example,

0:01:55 > 0:01:58are you looking at these rails and steps and this grass as

0:01:58 > 0:02:00- possible jumps, or...? - Yeah, of course.

0:02:00 > 0:02:03- There's this thing up here I can show you, if you like.- Absolutely.

0:02:03 > 0:02:05'Please do NOT try this at home!

0:02:05 > 0:02:08'For our filming, we've had permission from the local council

0:02:08 > 0:02:11'and Danny is a world-renowned professional.'

0:02:18 > 0:02:20Stuff like that, for example, yeah, sure.

0:02:20 > 0:02:23'Who am I kidding? That was awesome!

0:02:23 > 0:02:25'Play it cool, Barney, play it cool.

0:02:25 > 0:02:29'We head to some flat ground so I can learn the basics.'

0:02:29 > 0:02:33OK, the first thing you'd want to learn is a track stand.

0:02:33 > 0:02:35That's basically learning how to balance on your bike without

0:02:35 > 0:02:37putting your feet down.

0:02:37 > 0:02:40It's all about becoming one with your bike in order to have

0:02:40 > 0:02:42complete control, just like Danny.

0:02:42 > 0:02:45You want to start rolling and pull your brakes

0:02:45 > 0:02:48so you're getting slower and slower and that way,

0:02:48 > 0:02:51you'll start to, sort of, feel how to balance.

0:02:51 > 0:02:54Let me try that. I'll need to take a run-up, first.

0:02:54 > 0:02:59'Steady, steady... This is a great trick to try and learn at home.'

0:03:01 > 0:03:03Very good. There you go!

0:03:03 > 0:03:07The next thing you'd want to learn is a bunny hop.

0:03:08 > 0:03:10'This right here is the bunny hop.

0:03:10 > 0:03:14'For trial bikers, it's one of the best ways of climbing an obstacle.'

0:03:14 > 0:03:17- You almost press the bike into the ground...- Yeah.

0:03:17 > 0:03:19..and spring your body into the air.

0:03:19 > 0:03:21Then you're also going to hook your feet

0:03:21 > 0:03:23and try to lift the front wheel at the same time.

0:03:23 > 0:03:25So you're...

0:03:25 > 0:03:27'He makes it look so easy!

0:03:27 > 0:03:28'OK, my turn.'

0:03:31 > 0:03:33'Yeah, it's not that easy.'

0:03:33 > 0:03:36- Mate...- Perfect! Well done.

0:03:36 > 0:03:39'Wow, he said it - perfect!

0:03:39 > 0:03:42'But Danny is just being kind, and let's be honest,

0:03:42 > 0:03:44- 'we're not here to see what- I- can do.

0:03:44 > 0:03:47'I want to see how this master of two wheels can turn

0:03:47 > 0:03:50'a normal location into his own obstacle course.

0:03:55 > 0:03:58'So, we've set him a Blue Peter challenge.

0:03:58 > 0:04:02'Danny will have to navigate across these steps using only one wheel.

0:04:02 > 0:04:06'From there, he'll have to jump onto this wall, ride around the edge,

0:04:06 > 0:04:10'avoiding the three-metre drop and then jump the gap to finish.

0:04:10 > 0:04:12'And if he does it,

0:04:12 > 0:04:15'there'll be something very special waiting for him at the end.'

0:04:15 > 0:04:18And here it is in all of its glory - you want it, don't you?

0:04:18 > 0:04:20I do! I've been waiting 23 years.

0:04:20 > 0:04:21Well, those 23 years, mate,

0:04:21 > 0:04:23will take you just the next two minutes

0:04:23 > 0:04:24of your life to achieve it.

0:04:24 > 0:04:26You know what you're doing, there's the start line,

0:04:26 > 0:04:28I'll see you at the finish. Good luck.

0:04:28 > 0:04:29Perfect. See you in a bit.

0:04:30 > 0:04:33'I am so glad we got permission to do this.

0:04:37 > 0:04:39'OK, and Danny is straight into his wheelie -

0:04:39 > 0:04:43'just look at his control of the bike.

0:04:43 > 0:04:44'Next up, the bunny hop.

0:04:44 > 0:04:47'He makes it look like a walk in the park.

0:04:47 > 0:04:49'That is some serious air!

0:04:50 > 0:04:54'He uses his incredible balance to move round the wall and finally...

0:04:57 > 0:05:01'..he flies across that gap as if it isn't there. THAT is how you do it.

0:05:03 > 0:05:06'Danny MacAskill - international superstar,

0:05:06 > 0:05:09'cycling idol and Blue Peter badge holder.'

0:05:09 > 0:05:11Awesome! I've been waiting 23 years for this!

0:05:11 > 0:05:13Danny, it's all yours!

0:05:16 > 0:05:19What a legend. HE CHUCKLES
