0:00:08 > 0:00:13Expect epic adventures, makes, bakes, badges, pets,
0:00:13 > 0:00:15presenters and your post.
0:00:15 > 0:00:19We've only got five minutes, so get ready for your Blue Peter adventure.
0:00:19 > 0:00:23In my time on Blue Peter, I've tackled some epic challenges.
0:00:25 > 0:00:29I've pushed myself to the limit physically and mentally.
0:00:29 > 0:00:33But there's always been one thing that I said I would never, ever do.
0:00:35 > 0:00:38I'm going to try and conquer my biggest fear -
0:00:38 > 0:00:39sharks.
0:00:43 > 0:00:45I've been asked to help clean
0:00:45 > 0:00:48the shark tanks at the Blue Planet Aquarium,
0:00:48 > 0:00:50and that's going to involve getting in the water,
0:00:50 > 0:00:53with the thing I'm most scared of.
0:00:53 > 0:00:55So, ever since I can remember,
0:00:55 > 0:00:58I have been terrified of big fish, like sharks,
0:00:58 > 0:01:01and I know for a lot of people this would be quite a fun,
0:01:01 > 0:01:03easy challenge and something they'd look forward to.
0:01:03 > 0:01:06But, for me, this is my worst nightmare.
0:01:08 > 0:01:11But to beat my fear, first I need to understand it,
0:01:11 > 0:01:15so I've come to meet fear expert, Dr Warren Mansell.
0:01:15 > 0:01:17So I understand you're coming to see me
0:01:17 > 0:01:20- to talk about your fear of sharks? - Yes.
0:01:20 > 0:01:23My biggest fear of sharks is the idea of seeing a shark
0:01:23 > 0:01:29coming at my face, like, swimming at me. That gives me anxiety.
0:01:29 > 0:01:34Would you be able to look at some pictures of sharks now?
0:01:34 > 0:01:37Until now, I've found it hard to even look at sharks.
0:01:37 > 0:01:41So, Warren shows me pictures of them to help me get used to it.
0:01:41 > 0:01:44- Go on, just speak your mind.- That is really scary. That's like a...
0:01:44 > 0:01:46Sea Dinosaur.
0:01:46 > 0:01:50For me, that was really hard. But the work doesn't end there.
0:01:51 > 0:01:54This challenge is only just beginning.
0:01:54 > 0:01:58It's the morning of my dive and I am so tense.
0:01:59 > 0:02:02It's time for me to meet the guys I'll be sharing a tank with.
0:02:02 > 0:02:05There's a shark looking directly at me.
0:02:05 > 0:02:08I honestly thought these sharks would just be in the distance
0:02:08 > 0:02:09somewhere doing their thing,
0:02:09 > 0:02:13and they are right up in my face looking at me.
0:02:15 > 0:02:17I really am going to be amongst them.
0:02:19 > 0:02:21Oh, my gosh, it's turning to look at me!
0:02:23 > 0:02:25SHE LAUGHS
0:02:25 > 0:02:28I'm not going to look at it.
0:02:28 > 0:02:32For most people, looking at a shark in a tank is a fun day out.
0:02:32 > 0:02:36But for me, it's my worst nightmare.
0:02:36 > 0:02:38Oh, no, sorry, actually my WORST nightmare would be
0:02:38 > 0:02:40swimming with them.
0:02:42 > 0:02:47As I get ready, all my instincts are saying, "Do not do this, Lindsey!"
0:02:47 > 0:02:51Thankfully, Dr Warren is here to help calm my nerves.
0:02:51 > 0:02:54Looking out over the tank, what are your thoughts?
0:02:54 > 0:02:59For me, the hardest part is going to be the moment
0:02:59 > 0:03:02I get in that water and see a shark for the first time.
0:03:02 > 0:03:05I don't know if I can face a shark, as it were.
0:03:05 > 0:03:09- Anything else that's going to feel comforting when you're in there?- No.
0:03:09 > 0:03:12- I've just got to do it now, haven't I?- I think that's right.- Thank you.
0:03:12 > 0:03:13- I'll see you on the other side.- OK.
0:03:15 > 0:03:17The moment has arrived.
0:03:17 > 0:03:20I'm genuinely terrified.
0:03:20 > 0:03:23I'm shaking. I'm nervous.
0:03:23 > 0:03:27The real fear is a shark coming at me, head on.
0:03:27 > 0:03:30And I think that is definitely going to happen today.
0:03:31 > 0:03:34Even with Sophie and the rest of the team here to guide me,
0:03:34 > 0:03:38the last thing I want to do is get in this water.
0:03:38 > 0:03:41UNDERWATER BREATHING
0:03:43 > 0:03:49But, I've got a job to do. Come on, Linz, you can do this! Just breathe.
0:03:53 > 0:03:57Sophie wants me to stay calm and I'm trying to remember the advice
0:03:57 > 0:03:59I was given by Dr Warren.
0:03:59 > 0:04:02But all I can think about is where the sharks are,
0:04:02 > 0:04:04and it doesn't take long to find out.
0:04:10 > 0:04:13Seeing a shark up close like this is so overwhelming.
0:04:13 > 0:04:17They feel HUGE and I feel terrified.
0:04:18 > 0:04:21The sharks are drawn to us being in the tank
0:04:21 > 0:04:23and suddenly we're surrounded.
0:04:30 > 0:04:34All along, my biggest fear has been a shark swimming directly
0:04:34 > 0:04:36towards me and THEN this happens...
0:04:44 > 0:04:46My heart is pounding.
0:04:46 > 0:04:48HEARTBEATS
0:04:51 > 0:04:57My worst nightmare just swam centimetres from my face.
0:04:57 > 0:04:58And then it dawns on me...
0:04:59 > 0:05:02I'm fine! This is actually quite fun.
0:05:11 > 0:05:14Oh, my goodness, oh, my goodness, oh, my goodness!
0:05:21 > 0:05:24This challenge has been so hard for me.
0:05:24 > 0:05:28And I'm so proud I've overcome my biggest fear.
0:05:28 > 0:05:32I just hope I've inspired you guys to do the same.
0:05:33 > 0:05:37I actually can't believe I've done that, I feel quite emotional.
0:05:37 > 0:05:38Because... Erm...
0:05:38 > 0:05:42I was really, really scared to - I don't know why I'm crying -
0:05:42 > 0:05:45I was really, really scared to go down and do that today.
0:05:45 > 0:05:48And actually the imagination of doing it wasn't
0:05:48 > 0:05:52half as bad as going down and giving it a try.
0:05:53 > 0:05:55And I'd go as far as saying I actually quite enjoyed it.
0:05:55 > 0:05:58- Would you do it again, though? - No, I wouldn't do it again.
