:00:27. > :00:37.What's your favourite thing about Christmas? Food. I love the food.

:00:37. > :00:54.

:00:54. > :00:57.Christmas pudding. Can't wait for Hello. We have got a show packed

:00:57. > :01:01.with celebrities today. Ed Sheeran, the pop star that everybody's

:01:01. > :01:06.talking about, is going to be joining us in the studio. I see it

:01:06. > :01:12.as an early Christmas present. Here he is! Ed Sheeran's a singer/song

:01:12. > :01:19.writer who's taken the British music scene by storm. His debut

:01:19. > :01:22.album Plus became the best-selling digital debut album ever.

:01:22. > :01:28.Here's the tip of the iceberg when it comes to pop stars and

:01:28. > :01:33.celebrities today. It's the one and only Ed Sheeran.

:01:33. > :01:36.Ed, come in. Lovely to see you. I missed you last time. I was

:01:36. > :01:40.delighted when you said you could come back and be a guest presenter.

:01:40. > :01:44.Good to be here. I hear we didn't have to work too hard to persuade

:01:44. > :01:47.you? It's been a childhood dream. I had a list when I was younger and

:01:47. > :01:52.this is one of them ticked off. Well, to thank you for coming in

:01:52. > :01:56.again, we are going to upgrade your Blue Peter badge to a silver badge.

:01:56. > :01:59.Oh. This is because you have done something extra for us. Should I

:01:59. > :02:03.give that to you? You can keep that as well. You are going to work for

:02:03. > :02:07.it as well and do a Christmas make for us, aren't you? Yes, I'm going

:02:07. > :02:12.to make a sparkly star. That is certainly going to make us feel

:02:12. > :02:15.very festive. If you are not yet in the Christmas mood, don't worry.

:02:15. > :02:18.Watch this. There was a brand-new BBC One Christmas promo on your TV

:02:18. > :02:23.screens at the weekend and guess who not only got to go backstage

:02:23. > :02:28.and meet the celebrities, but also got to star in it? Yep, it's our

:02:28. > :02:31.very own Barney. I'm on the set of one of the

:02:31. > :02:35.biggest ever Christmas promos to be filmed by the BBC. We have the

:02:35. > :02:41.piano, the tree, surrounded by this beautiful Winter Wonderland. There

:02:41. > :02:46.are going to be over 30 celebrities getting involved, Gary Lineker, the

:02:46. > :02:52.cast of EastEnders and little old Yes, I'm going to be in the promo.

:02:52. > :02:56.So, the plan is to get 30 plus BBC One celebs, including Bruce Forsyth,

:02:56. > :03:02.Matt Smith and Shane Richie into one big Christmassy house, singing

:03:02. > :03:07.a musical number from the stage show Oliver. I'm so excited to be

:03:07. > :03:10.involved in this, but I don't feel very Christmassy yet so I'd better

:03:10. > :03:15.get changed. So what does Christmas have

:03:15. > :03:19.normally? Mince pies, singing Christmas Carols and of course the

:03:19. > :03:25.reindeer jumper. Look at that! How amazing. So excited to be wearing

:03:25. > :03:29.this. I'm all dressed and ready to go. All I need to know now is what

:03:29. > :03:33.I'm doing. Hopefully the director Ben will know. It's a very easy

:03:33. > :03:35.shot. Quite a big moment though in the sketch. The idea is that you,

:03:35. > :03:41.with a few Holby City and EastEnders people, come through,

:03:41. > :03:45.the doors open, you stagger in with all this food laden with food

:03:45. > :03:49.trying to get it all in and then we cut away. Don't drop the food,

:03:49. > :03:55.don't look down the camera. Don't laugh when you are not supposed to.

:03:55. > :04:01.OK. Don't er... What are the other rules. Don't do anything I think.

:04:02. > :04:05.Just don't do anything. Be pretty. I'm going to get into character.

:04:05. > :04:09.It's a bit like a music video. Each celeb is in their own little scene

:04:09. > :04:14.which makes up part of the song, then we all come together at the

:04:14. > :04:19.end to sing the final line. So while I wait for my scene, I grab

:04:19. > :04:24.Fraser to find out how it's done, he's the creative director. Movies

:04:24. > :04:28.can take years to film sometimes, this is over three days this one,

:04:28. > :04:34.this short promo? Four days. We have three days with the celebrity

:04:34. > :04:43.stars and we have an extra day to film up a the bits that help us

:04:43. > :04:46.butt it together -- all the bits. It's Christmas, I'm with the stars

:04:46. > :04:52.of EastEnders and Holby City and have to walk through a door

:04:52. > :04:59.carrying some mince pies ready for the Christmas party.

:04:59. > :05:04.Try it. May need to do this a few times. Barney, you are angled to

:05:04. > :05:11.the side as if you are peering in, please. Action. Get out, go, go, go

:05:11. > :05:15.go,, go, keep going! Paramedics just in case, please...

:05:15. > :05:21.director wants to come out quickly. We did, everybody went flying and I

:05:21. > :05:25.ended up carrying somebody else's tray. This will be about a second

:05:25. > :05:32.in the actual promo. It's mad. Fun though. Thank you for the bread

:05:32. > :05:37.sticks. Go, go, go, go, go... Well done, everybody. That's us

:05:37. > :05:41.finished now. We've got a break and then we are coming back to do some

:05:41. > :05:46.green screen, more special effects than bread sticks but I can't wait!

:05:46. > :05:51.I decide to find out what the other celebs like about Christmas and

:05:51. > :05:55.Thunderball all seem to have one thing on their mind. What's your

:05:55. > :06:00.favourite thing about food Christmas? Food. Food. From the

:06:00. > :06:06.moment I get up, I have a big breakfast. Big lunch, eat too much,

:06:06. > :06:10.try and sleep. A big pile of roast potatoes and loads of turkey.

:06:10. > :06:14.may have a bacon sandwich, something like that. I love

:06:14. > :06:19.Christmas pudding. There's a theme here. Christmas chocolate.

:06:19. > :06:22.Christmas is just about getting all the food to make everyone feel fat

:06:22. > :06:26.and uncomfortable for the evening, then we play board games. Hungry

:06:26. > :06:29.now, shame we can't eat the props. Back to the filming and it's time

:06:29. > :06:32.for the clever bit. For the final line of the song, all the celebs

:06:32. > :06:35.will be singing together. But because of their hectic schedules,

:06:35. > :06:39.they can't all be here at the same time, so director Ben has to film

:06:39. > :06:43.the shot in front of a green screen background awill youing him to film

:06:43. > :06:48.them in small groups like this one, but then he edits them together so

:06:48. > :06:52.it looks like they were in the same room at the same time. Sounds

:06:52. > :06:56.complicated. It is! Straight down the lens, bum, bum,

:06:56. > :07:00.bum... All right. So this is the finale.

:07:00. > :07:05.This is where we all sing together and there'll be about 40

:07:05. > :07:09.celebrities in the one room. They'll be put in later. Are you

:07:10. > :07:19.talking to them? I am. There's a little camera there. Hi mum.

:07:20. > :07:23.mum. # Consider yourself, one of us... #

:07:23. > :07:28.Perfect. Let's move on to this set, please. The special effects don't

:07:28. > :07:31.end there. The walls of the house are going to magically fall down to

:07:31. > :07:39.reveal everyone in the Winter Wonderland scene. For that, they

:07:39. > :07:43.need another set, more green screen and very clever CGI.

:07:43. > :07:52.# For after some consideration we can state

:07:52. > :07:56.# Consider yourself one of us... # Thank you very, very much, guys,

:07:56. > :08:00.fantastic. That's how the acting side of it works. I've come to meet

:08:00. > :08:05.Peter, the musical director in charge of the singing. Why are you

:08:05. > :08:09.recording it twice? We use a lot of the stuff recorded on set. Some of

:08:09. > :08:13.it may have noises, coughs and stuff. With the record, you record

:08:13. > :08:16.the band and the studio and then the single, go from the top and add

:08:16. > :08:24.to it to get the best quality. We use the booth over there with the

:08:24. > :08:34.guys, they come in, re-record it like a mix and match the two...

:08:34. > :08:37.

:08:38. > :08:43.have taken to you # So strong # It's clear we're # Going to get

:08:43. > :08:48.along My turn # Consider yourself one of us

:08:48. > :08:52.Great, Barney, perfect. It's period stepping out the booth like that.

:08:52. > :08:54.My voice is now on track, it's been recorded and that will be put with

:08:55. > :09:01.everybody else's and hopefully you will hear me singing at the end of

:09:01. > :09:11.the promo. Exciting! And this is how it turned out. Here

:09:11. > :09:18.

:09:18. > :09:22.And now for the grand finale. after some consideration

:09:22. > :09:30.# We can state # Consider yourself

:09:30. > :09:34.# One of us... # When I watch that, I'm going to be

:09:34. > :09:38.going, he's there, no, he's there, he's there. Well done, Barney.

:09:38. > :09:42.We'll have our own sing-along in a while, it's an exclusive

:09:42. > :09:46.performance from Pixie Lott. Are you keen? Very, yes. You are a fan,

:09:46. > :09:50.aren't you? She's great, yes. this is your moment? Yes, a Blue

:09:50. > :09:55.Peter make. Dream. Not just any make, the Christmas decoration, a

:09:55. > :09:58.lot of pressure? The Christmas star, yes. All you need is six coat

:09:58. > :10:04.hangers, you can find them in your parents' wardrobe, don't tell them

:10:04. > :10:07.you are taking them, they'll be annoyed. These are the views of Ed

:10:07. > :10:12.annoyed. These are the views of Ed Sheeran, not Blue Peter. Stretch

:10:12. > :10:16.them out into a diamond like that and you end up with one I made

:10:16. > :10:20.earlier, nice one. They could have laughed.

:10:20. > :10:25.He said there's one he made earlier!

:10:25. > :10:31.Angle the hook into the middle and add the sixth one into the middle

:10:31. > :10:37.there, make sure you have some tape. Take it round the top. Not the

:10:37. > :10:41.middle but just the top and the bottom to make it sturdy on either

:10:41. > :10:46.side of the star. You are doing well there. Strikes

:10:46. > :10:50.me this isn't your first Blue Peter make? I made a Blue Peter bat cave

:10:50. > :10:56.when I was around six I think. Lots of paper mache and water and gunk

:10:56. > :11:00.and stuff like that. It was quite fun. Wicked. Once that's all done

:11:00. > :11:06.up, it should look like another one I made earlier, spent a lot of time,

:11:06. > :11:11.as you can see. Talking of things you made earlier. That-dah. Nice

:11:11. > :11:17.and solid and stuck together. Get some tinsel from your local

:11:17. > :11:22.tinsel shop. Put some on you to doll you up a bit. Much needed!

:11:22. > :11:27.Cheers! Use some tinsel and go around the

:11:27. > :11:30.edge of the thing, maybe scrunch it up so you can put it through the

:11:30. > :11:34.holes. Who decorates the tree in the Sheeran household? Probably one

:11:34. > :11:40.of my parents because me and my brother are never there, but yes,

:11:40. > :11:47.my dad used to, you know all the pins they get on the floor, when I

:11:47. > :11:50.was younger to occupy me because I was hyper he was like I'll give you

:11:50. > :11:53.1p every single pin you pick up and I thought I would be a millionaire

:11:53. > :11:58.by the end of it. I was there for hours and I got 3 and he got rid

:11:58. > :12:02.of me for the day which is good! OK. We should have a Blue Peter appeal

:12:02. > :12:06.for you. But you are doing all right. Put it all around the edge

:12:06. > :12:11.like that and it will end up like this. This is nicely decorated. You

:12:11. > :12:18.have added some baubles? You will get some from the bauble shop, you

:12:18. > :12:22.can probably find it! What is a bubble shop and a tinsel shop?!

:12:23. > :12:26.find some garden wire, either from your mum or dad. If your mum wears

:12:26. > :12:32.the trousers, she probably has some bauble wire, and if your dad

:12:32. > :12:37.doesn't, then he probably doesn't. What?! Just go to the parent that

:12:37. > :12:42.does the gardening. Yes, thread it up and do it up quite tight. That

:12:42. > :12:49.hides all the hooks? Yes, cover it up with the tinsel so it looks nice

:12:49. > :12:57.and pretty and there you have it, a Christmas star. You can all maken

:12:57. > :12:59.eco version, we have one covered in pine cones, ivy. Little robins.

:12:59. > :13:04.and tinsel. Any Christmas traditions in the Sheeran

:13:04. > :13:10.household? We tend to watch films, I think everybody does that. There

:13:10. > :13:17.you have it. And pick up pine needles? Yes, Christmas star,

:13:17. > :13:21.courtesy of Sheezer. If you haven't decorated your tree yet, look at

:13:21. > :13:25.this next film for instraition. I went to one of the most famous

:13:25. > :13:35.households in the country to help them put up their tree. Brace

:13:35. > :13:35.

:13:35. > :13:38.yourselves for some flash photography -- illustration.

:13:38. > :13:42.Every iconic landmark has a Christmas tree and almost every

:13:42. > :13:45.home in Britain has one. Including the most famous address

:13:45. > :13:50.in the country. Number Ten Downing Street.

:13:50. > :13:54.So how do they choose the tree that will stand here? They won a

:13:54. > :13:57.competition. The champion tree growers' prize is to see their tree

:13:57. > :13:58.displayed here outside the Prime Minister, David Cameron's front

:13:58. > :14:04.Minister, David Cameron's front door.

:14:04. > :14:09.This year's winner comes from The Tree Barn in Christmas Common. It's

:14:09. > :14:14.a real place! I've come to see the champion Christmas tree for myself

:14:14. > :14:19.before it heads off to Number Ten. The man in charge is Andrew Ingram.

:14:19. > :14:22.So this is it, the tree that will be heading to Number Ten? That's

:14:22. > :14:27.right. Why have you cut the branches off the bottom then?

:14:27. > :14:30.tree is bigger than we need. It's got to be five metres tall. This is

:14:30. > :14:35.seven or eight metres, we don't need the bottom half so in order

:14:35. > :14:42.for it to be easier for us to cut it, we trim the lower branches.

:14:42. > :14:46.long has this been growing for? 25 years. It looks good. I'm sure

:14:46. > :14:49.it will look good outside Number Ten. I should feel sad we are

:14:49. > :14:54.chopping this tree down, shouldn't I? No, it's destiny. What it's

:14:54. > :15:04.meant to do? Yes. Right, then, let's get it ready for Mr Cameron.

:15:04. > :15:12.

:15:13. > :15:17.A round of applause is in order. What do we do with this now then?

:15:17. > :15:20.It's going to go through the netter, we'll net it to protect it while

:15:20. > :15:25.transporting it to London. Whilst growing Christmas trees recycle

:15:25. > :15:29.carbon dioxide by turning it into oxygen. Every acre of trees grown

:15:29. > :15:33.produce the daily oxygen for 16 people and don't worry, for every

:15:33. > :15:39.tree cut down, at least two others are planted.

:15:39. > :15:49.That's it. Wrapped and ready to go to Downing Street. I'll see you

:15:49. > :15:55.

:15:55. > :16:02.Here it comes. Christmas tree has made its way from Christmas Common

:16:02. > :16:10.and is almost there at its final destination, Number Ten.

:16:11. > :16:20.Well done. Wow, it's tall, isn't it? They've put the tree in place

:16:21. > :16:21.

:16:21. > :18:15.Apology for the loss of subtitles for 114 seconds

:18:15. > :18:20.and now I'm going to unwrap it. OK. Andy! Oh, no, did that just happen.

:18:20. > :18:24.I won't be in charge of the star at Downing Street. The tree is up. The

:18:24. > :18:30.decorating is well under way, but to finish it off, I've enlisted the

:18:31. > :18:34.help of our latest gold badge winners, Jonah, Lauren and Toby.

:18:34. > :18:38.Eight-year-old Jonah from Surrey won his gold badge for making a

:18:38. > :18:42.life-saving call to 999 emergency services team when his grandad

:18:42. > :18:46.collapsed. Law reason is ten from Wiltshire, she has cerebral palsy

:18:46. > :18:50.as a result of contracting meningitis at six weeks old.

:18:50. > :18:54.Despite this, she's continued to challenge herself and raise money

:18:54. > :18:59.for the Meningitis Trust -- Lauren. Most recently, she cycled 25 miles

:18:59. > :19:04.and raised over 4,000. Eight-year-old Toby from Guernsey

:19:04. > :19:07.spotted an unexploded World War bomb whilst playing outside at Cubs.

:19:07. > :19:13.He acted calmly and ensured the right people were informed so no-

:19:13. > :19:19.one was hurt. Good work, guys! The tree going up is national news.

:19:19. > :19:26.So the street is lined with members of the press. Now, there's only one

:19:26. > :19:31.thing left to go. 4, 3, 2, 1... Look at that. A round of applause.

:19:31. > :19:34.Merry Christmas, everybody. I haven't put up a single Christmas

:19:34. > :19:37.decoration at any house yet. But to be honest, I don't think I need to

:19:37. > :19:44.any more. This tops it all. A Christmas tree for the Prime

:19:44. > :19:48.Minister decorated by three amazing kids.

:19:48. > :19:54.Do you know what, I expected the Prime Minister's tree to be bigger

:19:54. > :19:59.than that, I don't know why. You cheeky thing, anyway, don't you

:19:59. > :20:05.read the newspapers, were in troubled times. You are going to

:20:05. > :20:09.give this away tonight aren't you? I'm at the Apollo tonight, yes.

:20:09. > :20:14.Pixie Lott will be pr forming for us while I tell you what is

:20:14. > :20:17.happening on Blue Peter tomorrow. The author of How To Train Your

:20:17. > :20:22.Dragon, Cressida Cowell, will be here to announce the nominations

:20:22. > :20:26.for the Book Awards. We'll be at The Clothes Show live with Georgia

:20:26. > :20:33.Locke and Alexandra Burke and the megastar Nicole Scherzinger will be

:20:33. > :20:38.here in this very studio! We've been friends for a while pixie, a

:20:38. > :20:41.couple of weeks ago I invited you to a gig to play and we had a

:20:41. > :20:45.conversation about Stevie Wonder collaborating on your new album.

:20:45. > :20:49.Tell us more about that? I was very lucky, in the right place at the

:20:49. > :20:53.right time in LA and he's my all- time favourite, I grew up listening

:20:53. > :20:57.to him and he was in the same restaurant. I met him, was

:20:57. > :21:02.overwhelmed, it was quite a moment for me, but then I wrote a song and

:21:02. > :21:11.he collaborates on it, playing the harmonica. He sounds amazing, so I

:21:11. > :21:17.was very lucky. You can hear that on Young, Foolish and Happy,

:21:17. > :21:27.Pixie's album. Right now she's going to sing Everybody Hurts from

:21:27. > :21:27.

:21:27. > :21:31.# I don't know how to turn it all around

:21:31. > :21:35.# When I feel hopeless can see my way out

:21:35. > :21:38.# Dawn so low will I ever get back # When I am broken and I've just

:21:38. > :21:45.had enough # Pick up the pieces and I'll put

:21:45. > :21:55.myself all together # Crying it out there's no doubt it

:21:55. > :21:55.

:21:55. > :22:01.got to get better # And it's alright to go in let

:22:01. > :22:05.your tears fall down # And everything crushes to the

:22:05. > :22:15.ground # And it's alright do it if it

:22:15. > :22:29.

:22:29. > :22:32.makes it out alive # Sometimes

:22:32. > :22:35.# It's so hard not to let emotion burge

:22:35. > :22:45.# Turn my head upside down on a thread, huhuh

:22:45. > :22:45.

:22:46. > :22:55.# Cut me loose so I can stanch fade up again

:22:56. > :22:58.

:22:58. > :23:00.# I feel love is bitter empty space # Pick up the pieces and I'll put

:23:00. > :23:09.myself all together # Crying it out there's no doubt it

:23:09. > :23:12.got to get better # And it's alright to go in let

:23:12. > :23:14.your tears fall down # And everything crushes to the

:23:14. > :23:24.ground # And it's alright do it if it

:23:24. > :23:32.
