:06:58. > :07:02.Burke. Hi, I'm Georgia Locke. You might
:07:02. > :07:05.recognise me from CBBC. I have always been mad on clothes and I
:07:05. > :07:09.love experimenting with new style, I have come to the Clothes Show
:07:09. > :07:19.live in Birmingham to see what is in store for the fashion world of
:07:19. > :07:25.
:07:25. > :07:28.in store for the fashion world of This is one of the biggest catwalk
:07:28. > :07:31.shows in the country and it is a big deal in the UK's fashion
:07:31. > :07:38.calendar. Complete with the newest, coolest trends, I don't know where
:07:38. > :07:44.to start. I've always loved fashion, even
:07:44. > :07:49.before I started presenting Friday Download. So this is really my kind
:07:49. > :07:53.of space. I'm on a mission to find two must
:07:54. > :07:59.have outfits. One for a boy and one for a girl in preparation for 2012.
:07:59. > :08:09.Well, a girl has got to be prepared. So what's going to be next year's
:08:09. > :08:09.
:08:09. > :08:15.mus haves. -- must haves? I'm going to to hook up with a fashion fan,
:08:15. > :08:18.it is bad girl herself, Alexandra Burke.
:08:18. > :08:25.# The bad boys are always catching my eye
:08:25. > :08:29.# I said the bad boys... # I can't wait to to talk to her
:08:29. > :08:35.about fashion. Alexandra has designed her own clothing range. So
:08:35. > :08:39.this is a a girl who is really in the know when it comes to style.
:08:39. > :08:49.I'm on a mission to find an outfit for a boy and a girl for next year
:08:49. > :08:50.
:08:50. > :08:56.and what's going to be on trend. I hear you do design designing
:08:56. > :09:01.yourself? I love everything about fashion. I have done the dress for
:09:01. > :09:05.Children In Need. Can you give me advice about what's going to be on
:09:05. > :09:10.trend for next year? For the girls, it is always going to be, I mean, I
:09:10. > :09:14.love colour. So I think the next season will be all about neon
:09:14. > :09:19.colours, bright, bold, in your face. Very dramatic and energetic, you
:09:19. > :09:23.know. Showing that you can wear a bit of colour, a bit of orange,
:09:23. > :09:32.pink and hot pink, my favourite colour.
:09:32. > :09:35.And for men and boys, quite earthy colours, quite toned down, Native
:09:35. > :09:39.American. Even though it will be summer, it is all about the long
:09:39. > :09:43.sleeve a little bit, maybe the V- neck as well.
:09:43. > :09:53.That sounds cool. Thank you. Let's get started. I will see you later.
:09:53. > :10:26.
:10:26. > :10:30.Thank you. Well, I'm back.
:10:30. > :10:37.You have been shopping? Yes. It has been good.
:10:37. > :10:40.So this is the girl's outfit. So we've got like quite a neon, like
:10:40. > :10:43.bright pink. That's what I'm talking about. You
:10:43. > :10:52.know it is my favourite colour. I love that.
:10:52. > :10:55.I thought it is really cool. This is a body con.
:10:55. > :11:05.Well done, you. I thought that was really nice.
:11:05. > :11:12.So for the boys, I've got a Native American print. Yes.
:11:12. > :11:15.This jumper is pretty awesome. Quite earthy colours.
:11:15. > :11:20.Gorgeous. Yes, I thought it was cool.
:11:20. > :11:24.I would wear this to be fair. I really, really would. There we go.
:11:24. > :11:31.You think I have done all right then? I think you have done an
:11:31. > :11:34.amazing job. High five. Well done. Next year, it will be all about
:11:34. > :11:41.neon for the girl and American prints for the boys and I'm
:11:42. > :11:44.confident that come next summer, I'm going to look pretty cool and
:11:44. > :11:51.ready to go. See you on Friday Download.
:11:51. > :11:54.There is a new feature on the Blue Peter website, it is called Helen's
:11:54. > :11:58.Boutique, you can cut me out and dress me up and make me look as
:11:59. > :12:01.stylish or unstylish as you like. If you head to the CBBC website and
:12:01. > :12:06.click on the Blue Peter logo, you can find it.
:12:06. > :12:10.Barney is away doing his panto, but we have been keeping him busy with
:12:10. > :12:14.a project involving something he loves and knows a bit about,
:12:14. > :12:18.photography. We are going to create a photo calendar for 2012 which you
:12:18. > :12:22.can print out for yourselves and put on your fridge or your bedroom
:12:22. > :12:27.wall. He is going to try out a series of photo techniques and pick
:12:27. > :12:31.the best picture for next month. Barney might even include some of
:12:31. > :12:35.your photos. Lets start with January with Barney's favourite
:12:35. > :12:45.technique. Imagine seeing the world in extreme
:12:45. > :12:51.
:12:51. > :12:55.close-up? You can, usek macrophotography. Mcry means large
:12:55. > :12:59.and macrois my favourite photography. So for January, our
:12:59. > :13:03.subject is going to be creepy crawlies, but at this time of year
:13:03. > :13:07.they are thin on the ground so I have come to the living rainforest
:13:07. > :13:15.to see what I can find. It is an indoor rainforest in Berkshire,
:13:15. > :13:18.home to over 700 species of plants and animals, the perfect place for
:13:18. > :13:21.taking macrophotographs. Georgie Jefferies is helping me choose a
:13:21. > :13:26.good subject to capture. Hi Barney.
:13:26. > :13:31.So you are going to help me with my subjects today? I hope so.
:13:31. > :13:33.Any of the insects got modelling experience? I don't think so, but
:13:33. > :13:41.there is a first time for everything.
:13:41. > :13:45.What have you got here? This is an amazing insect. These come from
:13:45. > :13:50.around Asia. If these were superheroes, this
:13:50. > :13:55.would be the bad guy? He would. He is is from Papua New Guinea.
:13:55. > :14:02.He is a big fella. This Is a hissing cockroach.
:14:02. > :14:06.If you had a ball, would he climb over it? Yes. This is a beetle.
:14:06. > :14:12.he got wings? He has. I'm worried he might fly away.
:14:12. > :14:16.And this is a spider? This is our bird eating spider.
:14:16. > :14:21.She is massive. That is a form of photography, if you have a pet or
:14:21. > :14:25.hamster or cat, you can take a lot of the whiskers and paws, but I'm
:14:25. > :14:30.not going to do that today because I don't want that spider to eat me!
:14:30. > :14:35.I have got got loads of inspiration, time to set-up my macrostudio.
:14:35. > :14:41.Imagine this is the dining table, I have some props here and coloured
:14:41. > :14:46.card. It is down to the you. I'm going to go for green and I'm going
:14:46. > :14:53.to use this plant pot. Put one that way and one on the bottom. If you
:14:53. > :14:57.have no light, you have no no photo. Make sure you use a lamp or the
:14:57. > :15:03.bulb hanging over the table. Here are my tips for taking
:15:03. > :15:09.macrophotographs. Tip one, look for the mac roe
:15:09. > :15:14.button. -- macrobutton. Tip two, fin a subject.
:15:14. > :15:17.-- find a subject. Look around anywhere, in little holes, behind
:15:17. > :15:23.the the cabinets and you will find something. I have found a spider
:15:23. > :15:27.about to eat a ladybird. It is gross, but I want to take a picture.
:15:27. > :15:30.Steady your camera. Make the camera as steady as you can by balancing
:15:30. > :15:37.it on something that's not going to move and then when you take your
:15:37. > :15:43.picture it will be in focus and look like that.
:15:43. > :15:49.The simplest things can make a great macrophotograph.
:15:49. > :15:54.OK back to my calendar shoot. I've picked three models. First up the
:15:54. > :16:00.stick insect from Borneo in Asia. It can shed its limbs to escape
:16:00. > :16:04.predators and grow new ones. I have decided to place it on a mini globe
:16:04. > :16:10.as if it is taking over the world. This is where depth of field comes
:16:10. > :16:14.into play. After rick ka is in focus -- Africa is in focus. If I
:16:14. > :16:19.turn the focus ring, that becomes blurry and the back of the globe is
:16:19. > :16:25.in focus. I need to pick a place where I want the focus to be and
:16:25. > :16:29.make sure when our bad guy stick insect stands on the globe, he
:16:29. > :16:37.stands in focus. Hopefully he will be nice and still or not. Let's try
:16:37. > :16:45.this again. This could be fun. We We have got a picture of his bottom
:16:45. > :16:48.on there at the moment so that's probably not good.
:16:49. > :16:53.He has been out a couple of minutes. After that, we will put him back
:16:53. > :16:57.with the others. Are you talking about me or the insect?
:16:57. > :17:02.Colour is a big part of macrophotography. Focusing on a
:17:02. > :17:06.strong colour can make your shot more powerful. You can add colour
:17:06. > :17:11.yourself through background and props. I have a red apple, a yellow
:17:11. > :17:15.background. My second model is the hissing cockroachks one of the
:17:15. > :17:19.largest cockroaches in the world. He makes this sound when he is
:17:19. > :17:27.uncomfortable. Although, he can't fly, he loves to climb.
:17:27. > :17:34.Hopefully he will be still for us. I'm going to pop him there.
:17:34. > :17:41.He is ugly. What a gorgeous shot though. This is why I love
:17:41. > :17:45.macrophotography. Look at his foot. You would never know a cockroach's
:17:45. > :17:49.foot had that little panel. You can see see details that you wouldn't
:17:49. > :17:55.normally see. I have got some good photographs
:17:55. > :17:59.and some not good ones. The stick insect moved too much which made it
:17:59. > :18:04.focus too much. I loved the colours in the cockroach photos. But there
:18:04. > :18:09.is one more, my final subject, the fruit beetle. Its shell warns other
:18:09. > :18:13.animal not to eat it even though it is not poise oution.
:18:13. > :18:19.-- poisonous. It lives for eight months and I have got to be careful
:18:19. > :18:25.this one doesn't fly off. We are going to create an image
:18:25. > :18:29.where the banana is in the foreground, but this bit is blurry,
:18:29. > :18:37.a bit more light. Do we have our fruit beetle? We do.
:18:37. > :18:43.Right on there, that's beautiful. I want a shot. What a well behaved
:18:43. > :18:53.beetle. He is looking right at the camera! This is my favourite shot.
:18:53. > :18:56.
:18:56. > :19:02.Sometimes things just really work I love it! I love it. This part of
:19:02. > :19:06.photography, for me, is why I keep doing it. It is why I take more
:19:06. > :19:10.photos because you are spend hours getting right shot and some things
:19:10. > :19:16.don't work, but when it does work, it is amazing. Brilliant. I'm happy
:19:16. > :19:23.with that. And here it is, my photo for
:19:23. > :19:26.January, the first for our 2012 If you want that calendar, all you
:19:26. > :19:30.have to do is go over to the Blue Peter website and print off the
:19:30. > :19:35.first month. We will have a new one to add every month throughout 2012.
:19:35. > :19:38.It is time to look at new books you might like to read over the
:19:38. > :19:43.Christmas holidays. You remember the Blue Peter Book Awards, we have
:19:43. > :19:48.been celebrating the best children's books since 2000. Last
:19:48. > :19:53.year Lauren St John won the award for her book, Dead Man's Cove which
:19:53. > :20:02.followed the adventures of Laura Marlin. It is time to announce
:20:02. > :20:08.which four made it to the shortlist this year. With me is a famous and
:20:08. > :20:15.successful writer. Cressida Cowell has has written many children's
:20:15. > :20:23.books. She is famous for the how to train your dragon series. There are
:20:24. > :20:28.nine books in the series and the next will be called Day of the
:20:28. > :20:32.Dreader. There is nobody better to talk us through the nominations for
:20:32. > :20:35.the Blue Peter Book Awards than Cressida Cowell.
:20:36. > :20:45.Thank you for coming in. We know our viewers love your books. They
:20:46. > :20:49.
:20:50. > :20:56.are scattered around there and you double up as a dog dog whisperer.
:20:56. > :21:03.This is the Considine Curse. Fantasy, wear wolves, if you like
:21:04. > :21:08.Harry Potter, if you like Lord of the Rings, fantasy, it is a
:21:08. > :21:17.vampire-type book. So if you have got a good
:21:17. > :21:21.imagination? Yes, if you like my books, orphan tasy books -- or
:21:21. > :21:24.fantasy books and books about dragons. There is a mystery in it.
:21:24. > :21:34.You are being careful not to give too much away.
:21:34. > :21:38.
:21:38. > :21:43.The next one is the Official Countdown to the Olympic Games.
:21:43. > :21:47.is good for somebody like me who knows about sport. It is good to
:21:47. > :21:51.know who everybody is, who are the big hopeful for Britain and it
:21:51. > :21:56.fills you in on the facts about the Olympic Games.
:21:56. > :21:59.If you are not into sport, there is no avoiding it next year. That's a
:21:59. > :22:07.good guide. Yes.
:22:07. > :22:13.At the front we have A Year Without Autumn. It is time travel, but
:22:13. > :22:21.emotional? It is a best friend story like Jacqueline Wilson or
:22:21. > :22:26.lawyer ren Or Lauren Child's, what if you lost a year of your life? If
:22:26. > :22:28.you suddenly woke up a year older. Right.
:22:28. > :22:33.So it has a mystery bit to it as well.
:22:34. > :22:40.One for those with a good imagination? Yes. But it is in real
:22:40. > :22:45.life. It has Jacqueline Wilson, real life, if you like those books.
:22:45. > :22:53.A bit like Doctor Who? No, no, if you like Doctor Who Considine Curse
:22:53. > :22:57.is the one for you. Extreme World. I love the Extreme
:22:57. > :23:04.World, that's about extreme weather conditions, volcanoes, extreme
:23:04. > :23:09.sports and it has weird animal facts in it it which I love. The
:23:09. > :23:17.innocent looking sea cucumber throws up its super sticky guts
:23:17. > :23:23.over an attacker while several kinds of seabird projectile vomit
:23:23. > :23:27.more than three feet... Thank you. A really yucky one that one. I love
:23:27. > :23:31.that book. Just as everyone is about to sit
:23:31. > :23:34.down for their tea! The winner will be announced next
:23:34. > :23:38.on World Book Day and the person who takes the title will get a Blue
