:00:09. > :00:13.It's round two of CBBC's Summer Sports Stars. Team Helen and team

:00:13. > :00:18.Barney take to the high seas in an action-packed race that will see

:00:18. > :00:22.Elements. Will my team be able to recover

:00:22. > :00:32.from yesterday's dodgeball defeat? And will Dominique be OK after she

:00:32. > :00:36.

:00:36. > :00:41.gets into trouble on the sea? Hello! Hello. Are you cold? Yeah,

:00:41. > :00:46.I'm doing a bit of yoga at the same time. Also today, we are introduced

:00:46. > :00:51.to our final freak of nature. So far Rani has pitched the star nosed

:00:51. > :00:54.mole. Blowfish told us about the barreleye fish. Mike Dilger

:00:55. > :01:00.introduced the leafy sea dragon. Naomi told us all about the glass

:01:00. > :01:06.frog. Today, Chris Collins will introduce us to our final freak of

:01:06. > :01:10.nature, but will it knock Naomi off the top slot. You lot have been

:01:10. > :01:14.talking on the message board. have to reveal why I'm shaking this

:01:14. > :01:19.bag of ice. I'm going to show you how to make something very cool.

:01:19. > :01:24.Nearly everybody likes it. It comes in loads of flavours. When I eat it,

:01:24. > :01:32.it makes me smile. I'm talking ice- cream. Can you carry on with that?

:01:32. > :01:37.I will do. Yesterday we were drawn by the enmagic -- enigmatic beast

:01:37. > :01:43.that is Jack Black. We have been talking to a girl who also uses her

:01:43. > :01:47.voice to entertain. She has her own radio show. I'm Daisy. I'm ten

:01:47. > :01:55.years old. I have my own radio show. This is what it's like being me.

:01:55. > :01:59.I'm the presenter of a radio show which airs every Saturday 12-1. The

:01:59. > :02:07.show is broadcast across the Yorkshire Dales. You can listen

:02:07. > :02:12.anywhere online. It doesn't start there.

:02:12. > :02:17.Before I go near a microphone I have loads to do. First, I need to

:02:17. > :02:24.pick all the songs. The show is an hour long and I'll use six or seven

:02:24. > :02:30.tracks. I have to be ready for requests too. We're Daisy's friends

:02:30. > :02:36.and we love listening to her radio show. We always send requests.

:02:36. > :02:43.As well as the music, I review a TV programme. This week I'm doing Blue

:02:43. > :02:46.Peter. Some weeks I do a book review. I have to know what I'm

:02:46. > :02:53.talking about. But that's not all. I always tell people who's going on

:02:53. > :02:59.around the local area and what's on TV. It's Saturday morning, show day.

:02:59. > :03:07.I will show you round the studio. Here is the schedule. I'm up here.

:03:07. > :03:12.Here is the studio. There's my dad. This is where we do all of our

:03:12. > :03:21.shows. My dad does a show before me. While he's in there, I get ready

:03:21. > :03:25.for my show. I'm ready and it's show time. On the Blue Peter

:03:25. > :03:29.message board you wanted to know more about what it was like having

:03:29. > :03:34.your own radio show. How did you get your own show? My dad started

:03:34. > :03:37.doing his show first. Then I went up to the radio and met the station

:03:37. > :03:42.manager. I got chatting to him. He asked me whether I wanted my own

:03:42. > :03:47.show. I said yes, then I started. Do you ever get nervous before the

:03:47. > :03:51.show and what do you do to fight the nerves? The first time I was

:03:51. > :03:56.really nervous. I've done it lots of times now. I don't get as

:03:56. > :04:03.nervous. Do you practice what you're going to say or do you just

:04:03. > :04:08.say it straight away? I have a book, which I write all my articles in.

:04:08. > :04:11.Then, I practise them before I go on. What's the funniest thing

:04:12. > :04:15.that's happened on the radio? Saturday we couldn't do my show

:04:15. > :04:22.because we'd be broadcasting to nobody. The transmitter is on top

:04:22. > :04:27.of a hill and a horse had backed into it. So the radio had gone dead.

:04:28. > :04:33.Welcome to Crazy Daisy's late Saturday with me Daisy. Time for

:04:33. > :04:38.what's on in the area now. This week's book review... This week' TV

:04:38. > :04:43.-- week's TV review... The show's going really well so far. I'm

:04:43. > :04:51.really pleased. I always play requests and shout outs that come

:04:51. > :04:58.in. We've had someone who has asked for a request, that's Alice,

:04:58. > :05:04.Jasmine and Andrew. It's that time again, the end of the show. Thank

:05:05. > :05:10.you for listening, Crazy Daisy signing out. I have my own radio

:05:10. > :05:15.show. I hope you've enjoyed finding out what it's like being me.

:05:15. > :05:21.When I set my mind to something, I finish it. How impressive is Crazy

:05:21. > :05:25.Daisy. Kind of looks like you as a child. What do you think of crazy

:05:25. > :05:28.daisy? I think she rocks. I think she should have a summer road show.

:05:28. > :05:33.If she does I want to cater for it because I have the perfect food,

:05:33. > :05:36.ice-cream. You can make it yourself. Here it is. That's what you can be

:05:36. > :05:40.making yourself. You need these ingredients - a quarter pint of

:05:40. > :05:45.full fat milk, yes girls it's going straight to the hips. A quarter

:05:45. > :05:51.pint of single cream, two tablespoons of caster shuing ah,

:05:51. > :06:00.one teaspoon of vanilla essence, ice cubes, about 400 graps of --

:06:00. > :06:05.grams of salt, sealable sandwich bags small and big. We need to add

:06:05. > :06:13.bags small and big. We need to add all the ingredients together. Now

:06:13. > :06:18.we've got our caster sugar, after the milk and cream. Then the

:06:18. > :06:22.vanilla. Just whack it all in a jug. You can customise this recipe in

:06:22. > :06:26.any way - add chocolate, sweets, add those things on top, these

:06:26. > :06:30.colourful balls made of sugar. That's probably the technical names.

:06:30. > :06:40.Once you've stirred this for about three minutes, add it to one of

:06:40. > :06:40.

:06:40. > :06:44.your small sandwich bags, a bit like this. You want to be very

:06:44. > :06:47.careful, you don't want to spill any. If you do, you'll have less

:06:47. > :06:52.ice-cream to enjoy. The reason the sandwich bags are sealable is

:06:52. > :06:56.because you don't want any mixture to escape. Squeeze as much air as

:06:56. > :07:02.you can. Seal it and then double it up, stick it inside another bag.

:07:02. > :07:10.This is very important. You'll see why in a minute.

:07:10. > :07:14.I guess to make Tripoli -- tripley sure, tie it up with a sandwich bag

:07:14. > :07:21.clip. That's the mixture for our ice-cream. Now we need our freezer.

:07:21. > :07:28.To make that, we need the big bags and you need about three jugs of

:07:28. > :07:32.ice. Make sure they're full as well. As much ice in there as you can get.

:07:32. > :07:37.As we're doubling things up at the moment let's dot same with the

:07:37. > :07:41.freezer. There is a reason why you don't want these ingredients to

:07:41. > :07:47.escape. To activate the ice, to make it even colder, we add roughly

:07:47. > :07:53.half a pint of salt. I know you don't normally weigh salt in pints.

:07:53. > :07:58.But if you can put it into a jug halfway, you have enough. Pour it

:07:58. > :08:03.into the ice like that. Then we add our mixture. Of course, this is

:08:03. > :08:10.where the sealed sandwich bag comes in. If you got salt in your ice-

:08:10. > :08:17.cream, it couldn't be very tasty. Seal the bags up properly. Again,

:08:17. > :08:22.tie it up with a big clip. Then give it a shake. This is the

:08:22. > :08:25.science. Basically, water freezes at about zero degrees. When you add

:08:25. > :08:30.salt to ice, it make it's colder. There's a chemical reaction that

:08:30. > :08:34.takes place. It draws all the heat out of the wet mixture in the

:08:34. > :08:39.middle making it colder and freezing it. As you know, Andy has

:08:39. > :08:44.been shaking his bag over there. Shaking, shaking. Shake it for

:08:44. > :08:50.about 12 minutes. My hands are freezing. Carefully, I'm very

:08:50. > :08:59.excited. Yes, it's solid. Solid as a rock. If we open the sandwich

:08:59. > :09:06.bags - I'm so excited! Can we try? Get in there. It really is ice-

:09:06. > :09:10.cream. Look at that. It really is as well. It's pretty

:09:10. > :09:16.solid. For more details go to the website. That is delicious. He's

:09:17. > :09:26.smug in the kitchen, that's good. Let's see how good he is when it

:09:27. > :09:34.

:09:34. > :09:40.Suby -- sunny Brighton home of CBBC's sports stars 2011. Team

:09:40. > :09:45.Helen and team Barney are battling it out in four cool summer sports.

:09:45. > :09:52.We've gathered the best sports stars CBBC has to offer.

:09:52. > :10:00.In my team from Live n Deadly, Naomi. From hotel Trouble,

:10:00. > :10:06.Dominique. From Sportsround, Ore. From all over the place, Ed. From

:10:06. > :10:11.the CBBC office it's Ian. finally from Roar, Jonny.

:10:11. > :10:15.For the winning team the prestigious CBBC Summer Sports

:10:15. > :10:25.Stars trophy. And for the losing captain, a messy forfeit in the

:10:25. > :10:28.

:10:28. > :10:38.Welcome back to Brighton. Yeah! Today is my event. We're going to

:10:38. > :10:41.be sea kayaking. It's an adrenaline-filled way to take to

:10:41. > :10:48.the surf and ride the waves. Today we take on the English Channel in a

:10:48. > :10:51.timed relay race. One of the best sea dogs around is here to teach us.

:10:51. > :10:58.He's been riding the waves for years in the most challenging

:10:58. > :11:02.conditions going. Adam, come on in. APPLAUSE

:11:02. > :11:06.What is going to be our biggest problem today? It's not the best

:11:06. > :11:10.summer's day. The problem is going to be the wind, the swell and it's

:11:10. > :11:20.going to be the waves breaking on the shore. Dominique looks

:11:20. > :11:26.

:11:26. > :11:29.petrified. It's time to start the Twist, pull. Ian is my partner, not

:11:29. > :11:33.entirely convinced that this is his sport. He asked me which way up to

:11:33. > :11:37.hold the paddle because he didn't know his right from his left.

:11:37. > :11:42.has worked out well for Helen, hasn't it, a sport she knows a lot

:11:42. > :11:46.about. I wonder if that was tactical. Hey, that's the name of

:11:46. > :11:54.the game. After the paddles have been mastered, there's nothing to

:11:54. > :11:58.do but get on the water and practice stay ago float. I don't

:11:58. > :12:04.want to be with Barney. I don't want to do it. Who can blame her.

:12:04. > :12:09.The rough conditions are making it hard to keep control of our kayaks.

:12:10. > :12:15.If you hit a wave right, we were flying, weren't we? The

:12:15. > :12:23.important thing is keeping the kayak straight, so if it hits you

:12:23. > :12:29.on the side, you will get wet. Moments later Dominique and Jonny

:12:29. > :12:37.got in trouble. It was a rogue wave, it sent us flying. It landed on my

:12:37. > :12:40.head. I could cry. It's like the Titanic hit me. Gosh. Before we can

:12:40. > :12:43.carry on, Dominique gets the once over. I've had a good look, there's

:12:43. > :12:48.no bleeding. The conditions are tough. We don't want to see another

:12:48. > :12:55.accident out there, another bang on the head. I don't mind doing it

:12:55. > :12:59.again because I'm in the a quitter. APPLAUSE

:13:00. > :13:04.It's a relay race against the clock. Each team will split into pairs and

:13:04. > :13:09.each pair will have -- paddle out to sea 30 metres around the buoy

:13:09. > :13:14.and back. The fastest time wins. and back. The fastest time wins.

:13:15. > :13:20.For the winners, five points on the leaderboard.

:13:20. > :13:24.And they're off! Thanks to Ed and Barney's shoving, or are they off?

:13:24. > :13:31.They're in trouble straight away. They're grounded. Now they really

:13:31. > :13:35.are flying... Well... Almost. Brave Dominique's smiling. Jonny's

:13:35. > :13:39.powering it from the back. The waves are making it heavy going.

:13:39. > :13:49.There's a mouthful of salty water for Dominique. I don't think she

:13:49. > :13:53.fancies this at au. What blaifery, -- fancies this at all. What

:13:53. > :14:00.bravery, she's hanging in there. It's looking good. They've rolled

:14:00. > :14:10.it. It's happened again. This is Dominique's fear realised all over

:14:10. > :14:10.

:14:10. > :14:15.again. Where are they going? Jump out of

:14:15. > :14:25.the boat. They're out of the water, they have to get back to the start.

:14:25. > :14:25.

:14:26. > :14:29.Oh, what's he done. He needs that paddle. Stupid Jonny. Barney and Ed

:14:30. > :14:32.jump into their kayak, whilst Dominique takes a rest after that

:14:32. > :14:37.Dominique takes a rest after that ordeal and it was an ordeal.

:14:37. > :14:41.wouldn't say you made it look easy... Paddling strong and hard

:14:41. > :14:43.and ridge make. They need to pick up the pace to secure a good time.

:14:44. > :14:49.Excellently negotiating themselves around the marker. They're looking

:14:50. > :14:55.good. They're looking good. Oh, they're not looking good. They've

:14:55. > :14:59.done a Dominique roll. The waves are thrashing them there. Ed and

:14:59. > :15:08.Barney all over the place, giving it everything now. They're powering

:15:08. > :15:12.for home. They're over the line, stop the clock.

:15:12. > :15:16.I closed my eyes for a lot of it. That's probably why you took so

:15:16. > :15:24.long. It's team Helen's turn. Naomi means

:15:24. > :15:31.business here, look at that. She's looking very strong. She's

:15:31. > :15:37.lapping up the sea water. Adding the muscle. They're quickest round

:15:37. > :15:43.the marker so far. That's text book paddling. Oh, they've gone! They're

:15:43. > :15:47.in the drink. It's the same wave that catches everyone out, look.

:15:47. > :15:52.Naughty waves. Still an excellent performance there.

:15:52. > :15:56.Helen is fired up for this one. She's like a speed boat. Let's

:15:56. > :16:01.start Helen's engines and watch her go, go, go! Team Helen need to win

:16:01. > :16:05.this. Five points on the leaderboard at stake now.

:16:05. > :16:09.A lot of pride hangs in the balance for legend Helen.

:16:09. > :16:15.That has to be the biggest wave of the competition so far.

:16:15. > :16:18.Can they stay upright however, on the tricky home strait? Their team-

:16:18. > :16:27.mates are guiding them home. There's no stopping them now.

:16:27. > :16:32.They're out. They're over the line. But have they done enough? It felt

:16:32. > :16:37.forever to get in the water. and I were slow coming back it. It

:16:37. > :16:41.was so shallow. I think we were marginally quicker. She's amazing,

:16:41. > :16:46.Helen Skelton when she gets going. If we get anywhere near them, I

:16:46. > :16:49.would be very happy. Both teamles did really well. It's challenging

:16:49. > :16:56.did really well. It's challenging out there. However, it's time for

:16:56. > :17:01.the results. Team Barney, your team did it in 5.49. Very well done to

:17:01. > :17:08.you guys. Team Helen, your team did it in... 4.30.

:17:08. > :17:16.CHEERING So Helen taking a much needed five

:17:16. > :17:24.points and after two events, it's all square on the leaderboard.

:17:24. > :17:32.Next time on CBBC Summer Sports Stars, there's jumps, bumps and an

:17:32. > :17:38.injury that could change everything. Who will reign supreme and who will

:17:38. > :17:43.be one step nearer to a gunging in the deck chair of doom?

:17:43. > :17:49.I know we don't like to gloat, but we are happy to win that round.

:17:49. > :17:54.Victory for my team and an additional trophy that Isla brought

:17:54. > :17:58.to the beach for us. Thank you very much. Can I keep it? I wasn't there.

:17:58. > :18:03.You meanies, giving away my trophies. I would be the sea

:18:04. > :18:12.kayaking. This could get messy. Let's not have a fight now boys. It

:18:12. > :18:17.is time for this: Freaks of nature. It is time for the finale of freaks

:18:17. > :18:19.of nature. Over the last five weeks, we have been trying to find the

:18:19. > :18:24.freakiest creature or plant out there. We've been grading them out

:18:24. > :18:28.of 30 and we have produced this Freaky Five leaderboard. At the

:18:28. > :18:34.minute, Rani sits in fourth place with the star nosed mole. We gave

:18:34. > :18:41.that 23 out of 30. In third place, is blowfish with the barreleye fish.

:18:41. > :18:45.That got 25 out of 30. Just ahead is Mike Dilger's sea dragon with

:18:45. > :18:50.27-and-a-half out of 30. Going to be honest a few points were awarded

:18:50. > :18:53.for his impression of the sea dragon. It was freaky. Naomi

:18:54. > :18:57.brought us the glass frog. We gave it a whopping 29 out of 30, because

:18:57. > :19:05.we thought it was really, really freaky. The trouble is lots of you

:19:05. > :19:09.disagree. Especially somebody who goes under the name I Love Andy.

:19:09. > :19:13.Whoever this is says, "I think you were very harsh on Rani and the

:19:13. > :19:19.blowfish. You could have given them more. I suggest 26 out of 30 for

:19:19. > :19:23.Rani's star nosed mole. You should have given blowfish's barreleye

:19:23. > :19:28.fish 28." Another person says "I think you gave the sea dragon way

:19:28. > :19:32.too many points. The glass frog should be first, then the barreleye

:19:32. > :19:37.fish." Scoobyi says the leafy sea dragon is a freak of nature,

:19:37. > :19:40.because it looks like seaweed. Another one said "I think the glass

:19:40. > :19:45.frog is the scariest because you can see what it ate for breakfast."

:19:45. > :19:49.Some people agreeing, but lots disagreeing. The pressure is on.

:19:49. > :19:53.I'm like a football referee. Once a decision is made, it's made.

:19:53. > :20:01.quite happy with the decisions I made. I probably would swap the

:20:01. > :20:06.star nosed mole for the barreleye fish now. I need the dollar, the

:20:06. > :20:09.doll ah, the dollar is what I need. Don't start. That song is in my

:20:09. > :20:13.head. Now for our final expert. Let's meet him.

:20:13. > :20:17.Today's expert is Chris Collins. He's a man who comes face to face

:20:17. > :20:21.with weird and wonderful British wildlife every day. He just loves

:20:21. > :20:27.to get his hands dirty. He's Blue Peter's own gardener. We won't be

:20:27. > :20:35.doing favours today. Who will he choose as his freak of nature? Here

:20:35. > :20:40.he is Chris Collins everybody! APPLAUSE

:20:40. > :20:46.OK Chris, what have you got? Being a gardener I had to pitch a plant.

:20:46. > :20:51.This is the pitcher plant. This is a freak of nature. You get 60

:20:51. > :20:55.seconds to pitch the pitcher plant. At the end we will mark out of ten.

:20:55. > :20:59.Then we'll put it on the Freaky Five leaderboard. You're going to

:20:59. > :21:04.have to be good to clinch the top spot. 60 seconds on the clock, it's

:21:04. > :21:09.time to freak us out! This might look like an innocent plant. But

:21:09. > :21:14.this plant is a meat eater. It makes the Venus flytrap look

:21:14. > :21:18.friendly. If you have insects or a frog or a small mouse or rat, this

:21:18. > :21:24.plant can eat you alive. It gives on scents like decaying flesh to

:21:24. > :21:30.attract the creatures. They come along in a tropical climate and

:21:30. > :21:34.they fall into a pitcher. Inside here is digestive juices. The rats

:21:34. > :21:39.fall down inside and gradually, over a few weeks gradually be eaten

:21:39. > :21:44.alive. These pitchers can get up to two foot tall, two foot long in the

:21:44. > :21:52.wild. Imagine, you're a rat, you go inside, you can't climb up again,

:21:52. > :21:55.the sides are full of mucous and gradually you're eaten of -- alive.

:21:55. > :22:04.This has to be definitely a freak of nature.
