:00:16. > :00:21.On today's show we're counting down to Children In Need.
:00:21. > :00:31.X Factor Stacey Solomon is baking a difference for our appeal. I help
:00:31. > :00:46.
:00:46. > :00:50.out at a local bake centre in Manchester. Hello, today's show is
:00:51. > :00:57.all about Children In Need, and our Bake A Difference appeal. Over the
:00:57. > :01:04.last few weeks we have been asking you to hold bake sales up and down
:01:04. > :01:11.the country. Children In Need is happening November 18. If you're
:01:11. > :01:15.watching there's still time to organise a bake sale. Drop us an e-
:01:15. > :01:25.mail. Drop us an e-mail now we might mention you on the TV.
:01:25. > :01:36.
:01:36. > :01:44.have been so impressed by our appeal over the weeks. Chocolate
:01:44. > :01:54.Brownies, banana buns, gingerbread, and orange crunch biscuits.
:01:54. > :01:56.
:01:56. > :02:06.Blueberry muffins. To name a few. We know loads of you have been busy.
:02:06. > :02:16.
:02:16. > :02:24.We appreciate your hard work. We could only invite one group. In
:02:24. > :02:34.they have no idea. We'll be turning our cameras as in the ones you're
:02:34. > :02:34.
:02:34. > :04:40.Apology for the loss of subtitles for 125 seconds
:04:40. > :04:45.Children In Need are funding a charity called the Butterfly Trust.
:04:45. > :04:47.They provide Joy with a befriender and it takes her mind off her
:04:47. > :04:51.illness. Your bake sales are funding all
:04:51. > :04:54.kinds of projects like these helping children all over the UK
:04:54. > :05:00.who're living with a life limiting illness.
:05:00. > :05:03.Some illnesses don't always show on Still be painful. Arthritis is
:05:03. > :05:08.something that usually makes us think of old people, but Molly
:05:08. > :05:14.began feel pg stiff in her joints when she was just eight years old.
:05:14. > :05:24.There are parts of my body that really hurt, they're my fingers, my
:05:24. > :05:27.
:05:27. > :05:31.ankles, my toes, my wrists. Although writing and typing can be
:05:31. > :05:34.painful, she's now able to be in touch with children with the same
:05:34. > :05:38.condition. That's all thanks to an activity
:05:38. > :05:41.weekend organised by the children's chronic arthritis association, a
:05:42. > :05:48.charity funded by Children In Need. You two are good mates now aren't
:05:48. > :05:54.you, you met through this event? Yes, we e-mail each other every
:05:54. > :06:04.week to say how are you doing. I was going to have joint
:06:04. > :06:04.
:06:04. > :06:07.injections, Molly had them before so she knew what it was like.
:06:07. > :06:10.some children, their illness means having treatment in hospital to
:06:10. > :06:14.help them get better again. Sapphire is 12 and was diagnosed
:06:14. > :06:18.with cancer just under a year ago. She's had several courses of
:06:18. > :06:23.chemotherapy, a treatment designed to kill cancer cells or stop them
:06:23. > :06:33.dividing. Chemotherapy is designed to make you get better but you have
:06:33. > :06:36.
:06:36. > :06:42.to get worse first don't you. Do You don't like getting sick and
:06:42. > :06:49.don't feel like doing it sometimes. Eight-year-old Charlie has been
:06:49. > :06:55.having treatment for cancer too. He was diagnosed with a large tumour.
:06:55. > :07:02.It took nine hours to remove it. They do the chemotherapy that goes
:07:02. > :07:12.in there, and tries to clear it all up. And if not they have to do an
:07:12. > :07:19.operation. To make time on the ward better for children, Children In
:07:19. > :07:25.Need are funding a charity to get creative on a ward. It gives the
:07:25. > :07:33.children a chance to learn how to make a ring tune, or even learn how
:07:33. > :07:42.to make a song! It's one of my most favourite things to do whether I'm
:07:42. > :07:52.bored. If you decide to run a bake sale, the money you raise will go
:07:52. > :08:02.towards lots of projects like these, that help children, like Luke, Joy,
:08:02. > :08:02.
:08:02. > :08:09.Molly, Saphifre and Charlie. Hasn't he got the best smile in the world.
:08:09. > :08:16.Never mind smiling, his boxing was better than Luke. Fastest
:08:16. > :08:23.wheelchair in the West. We invited a group along to have a look from
:08:23. > :08:28.the BBC - from the BBC in Salford Quays. To say thank you for a bake
:08:28. > :08:35.sale. This is them arriving. What they don't know, we're actually
:08:35. > :08:41.going to surprise them by inviting them on to Blue Peter live in the
:08:41. > :08:51.show. They'll go into an office and watch Blue Peter on the screen, and
:08:51. > :08:51.
:08:51. > :08:57.we'll spin the cameras on them?! don't know why we're doing it... It
:08:57. > :09:01.will - it could go horribly wrong... There's plenty of time for you to
:09:01. > :09:09.get involved and raise money for Children In Need. 18th November
:09:09. > :09:16.that's the deadline. If you need help. Gary Lineker has shown you
:09:16. > :09:22.how to make carrot cake, and Alesha has shown you biscuits. And Stacey
:09:22. > :09:26.Solomon will show you how to make cup cakes. I'm Stacey Solomon and
:09:26. > :09:33.today I'll show you how to make today I'll show you how to make
:09:33. > :09:39.something really really easy. I'll be making cup cakes! There's so
:09:39. > :09:43.many ways to create different styles. Today I'll show you three
:09:43. > :09:50.different ways to decorate them using butter cream. It's so easy to
:09:50. > :09:55.make, you just need butter, Caster sugar, two eggs, flour and milk.
:09:55. > :10:01.All the measurements will be on the Blue Peter website. Once you have
:10:01. > :10:07.stirred it for a couple of minutes, you should have something looking
:10:07. > :10:12.like this. You spoon the mixture into the cupcake cases. This is my
:10:12. > :10:17.favourite bit. Once you have filled all the cases, get an adult to help
:10:17. > :10:23.you put it in the oven. While the cakes are in the oven it's the
:10:23. > :10:29.perfect time to make the butter cream. All you need is icing sugar
:10:29. > :10:37.and butter. Once you have creamed the butter, add the icing sugar bit
:10:37. > :10:44.by bit. It will be very messy! I've decided to add colour. I'm going
:10:44. > :10:54.for pink. You can add any colour or flavour. After 20 minutes your
:10:54. > :11:01.cakes should look like this. Make sure you leave them time to cool.
:11:01. > :11:11.I'll show you my three favourite decoration ideas. Get some of the
:11:11. > :11:14.
:11:14. > :11:24.pink butter cream, put it into a piping bag, and make a lovely swirl
:11:24. > :11:30.
:11:30. > :11:38.all around. Then, add a few spinkles, and a little Cher cherry
:11:38. > :11:46.on top. A piece of cake. Second is one of the favourites -
:11:47. > :11:52.get a nice lump of icing, put it on the top and smooth it around.
:11:52. > :12:02.Doesn't have to be neat or perfect or anything. Cover the whole cake.
:12:02. > :12:07.
:12:07. > :12:14.Here's the fun bit - whack it into sprinkles. That's my favourite one!
:12:14. > :12:23.Lastly, find an adult helper to help you cut out a circle. Pull it
:12:23. > :12:33.out. Fill the whole with a very generous A icing. The more the
:12:33. > :12:35.
:12:35. > :12:43.merrier. And then cut the little piece you took out in half. And
:12:43. > :12:48.there you have a butterfly cake. there you have a butterfly cake.
:12:48. > :12:54.These are easy and simple to make. All the constructions are on the
:12:54. > :13:00.Blue Peter website. Gook luck to you and hope you raise loads of
:13:00. > :13:08.money! That's my kind of baking, when she got the bun and dunked
:13:08. > :13:15.into the sprinkles. Whack it in the sprinkles, a technical term. I
:13:15. > :13:25.don't like the baking, I like the decorating. I like the eating.
:13:25. > :13:27.
:13:27. > :13:34.Loads you of have been holding bake sales. Isobel got in touch - a
:13:35. > :13:40.Hallowe'en bake sale - six pink star muffins, and ten green mini
:13:40. > :13:47.Muffins, and they'll like to thank their neighbours. And 11-year-old
:13:47. > :13:56.Sophie held a back sale with Molly and Lucy near Oxford. They baked a
:13:56. > :14:04.total of 95 cakes and biscuits, and managed to raise a total of 38.46.
:14:04. > :14:12.The cakes were delicious. They like the eating! Six-year-old Katie held
:14:12. > :14:18.a cake sale and raised 227. Look at that pile of cakes! Lots of
:14:18. > :14:28.people joined in baking, and together they baked and sold 418
:14:28. > :14:30.
:14:30. > :14:40.items. Her granddad made six loafs of bread! And Annie Jessica and
:14:40. > :14:41.
:14:41. > :14:50.Rose had a wonderful time. They made 69 - 69. And had some left
:14:50. > :14:53.over and gave it to the old people's home nearby. I helped some
:14:53. > :15:00.children in Manchester. These children in Manchester are getting
:15:00. > :15:09.ready to hold a bake sale by decorating Pudsey biscuits to sell.
:15:09. > :15:19.I'm here to help them. They don't I'm here to help them. They don't
:15:19. > :15:23.
:15:23. > :15:33.know that. Hello everyone. We have got all our biscuits decorated.
:15:33. > :15:34.
:15:34. > :15:38.Let's count how many we have got. One, two, three... 25 on this table.
:15:38. > :15:46.52. That's good! Children In Need is this Friday and it's not too
:15:46. > :15:52.late for you to get involved. The money we raise will fund projects
:15:52. > :15:57.that help children living with chronic or life limiting illnesses
:15:57. > :16:07.in the UK. We have everything we want to sell but nowhere to sell
:16:07. > :16:16.
:16:16. > :16:26.Pudsey is broken into lots of pieces. Still 1 for a box. You get
:16:26. > :16:46.
:16:46. > :16:52.There you go. It's that easy to hold your own bake sale. If this
:16:52. > :16:58.has inspired you, hold a sale and raise loads of money, we haven't
:16:58. > :17:03.counted it yet. Excuse me me! I thought you were going to get into
:17:03. > :17:11.an argument. I'm going to eat it! an argument. I'm going to eat it!
:17:11. > :17:18.We sold every last one. All those cakes in 20 minutes. Good fun.
:17:18. > :17:24.Loved it. Jackie Katie and Tom told us they put up loads of posters,
:17:24. > :17:30.and they made 81. And they recommend selling chocolate
:17:30. > :17:37.brownies. Look for your name on the bottom of the screen. Somebody who
:17:38. > :17:47.had their sale... They raised over 100. Thank you very much. After
:17:48. > :17:48.
:17:48. > :17:58.seeing our appeal six-year-old Benedict baked 36 fairy cakes, and
:17:58. > :18:02.
:18:02. > :18:10.sold them and raised money. Thank you so much everyone for getting
:18:10. > :18:19.involved. We mentioned earlier about a special group from Stafford.
:18:19. > :18:25.They got in touch and said they would bake 52. They're sat in our
:18:25. > :18:29.production office. You're live on Blue Peter. Thank you so much. We
:18:29. > :18:35.were nervous about how they would react. That's what we wanted.
:18:35. > :18:41.have been keeping a secret from you, for the past hour. You thought you
:18:41. > :18:49.were going to get a look on the BBC, we'll invite you on to the set live
:18:49. > :18:55.during the show. Do you want to say hello! We'll get you. Stay there.

:20:32. > :20:42.Screaming was brilliant. Pudsey thank you very much. Make yourself
:20:42. > :20:57.
:20:57. > :21:05.Now that's incredible. Thank you so, so, much for all your hard work. We

:21:18. > :21:24.Yeah. What do you think of the studio. Really great. Why did you

:21:31. > :21:41.Thank you for your efforts. Daniel, let's talk about how much money you
:21:41. > :21:50.raised? Do you know? You can say a lot! It was 138. That's
:21:50. > :21:55.incredible! Dave, come on in, mate. A round of applause for Dave. Can
:21:55. > :22:01.you tell us what you did. The kids had the idea of baking the cakes,
:22:01. > :22:06.and one of the parents was involved in getting them doing it. You made
:22:06. > :22:12.cakes last week and did more yesterday. They have been doing the
:22:12. > :22:21.fundraising, and getting stuck in. Sending them after church on a
:22:21. > :22:27.Sunday, and the congregation has been involved. Barney and I say
:22:27. > :22:33.it's fun, fun, you have a few days left to get involved. Would you
