0:00:08 > 0:00:10- Ooh. Relay!- Wait, what's he doing?
0:00:10 > 0:00:13- CRASHING - Oh!- Ooh, that's going to hurt.
0:00:13 > 0:00:15There you go, Barn.
0:00:15 > 0:00:18- You could have just passed it to me. - I know.
0:00:24 > 0:00:26BUZZER
0:00:35 > 0:00:37Hello, and welcome. It is official.
0:00:37 > 0:00:41Our Badge Baton Relay Challenge starts right now.
0:00:41 > 0:00:43That's right, this summer, we are challenging you
0:00:43 > 0:00:48to earn your very own purple, silver, sport, green and blue badge
0:00:48 > 0:00:50to try and make the whole collection.
0:00:50 > 0:00:52- High-five, Linds. Well-remembered.- Thanks.
0:00:52 > 0:00:54Today's show starts with a classic.
0:00:54 > 0:00:57Feast your eyes upon this classic of all classics,
0:00:57 > 0:01:00the Blue Peter blue badge, and you can earn it very simply.
0:01:00 > 0:01:02You can send in some post, some art,
0:01:02 > 0:01:04a letter, a poem, write a rap, a model...
0:01:04 > 0:01:05- Do anything.- ..anything at all.
0:01:05 > 0:01:08Later in the show, I'll show you how to make one of these.
0:01:08 > 0:01:10It's your very own Blue Peter badge baton.
0:01:10 > 0:01:14It's a place where you can keep all of your Blue Peter badges safe.
0:01:14 > 0:01:15That is nice.
0:01:15 > 0:01:17So to inspire you to make your own baton
0:01:17 > 0:01:19and take on the Relay Challenge,
0:01:19 > 0:01:22Radzi and I did something very similar recently.
0:01:22 > 0:01:26- Off the charts.- Sounds intriguing. Have a look at this.- Get excited!
0:01:32 > 0:01:35Wow. Oh, goodness. Radzi, what are you doing?
0:01:35 > 0:01:38- It's challenge time, Linds, and I am ready.- I can see that.
0:01:38 > 0:01:39Why are you wearing that?
0:01:39 > 0:01:42I didn't think we were getting changed till later.
0:01:42 > 0:01:44Plus, we haven't actually said what the challenge is.
0:01:44 > 0:01:47You mean I didn't have to wear this on the way here?
0:01:47 > 0:01:49I did think people were noticing me.
0:01:51 > 0:01:53Anyway... Well, the reason Radzi is wearing this
0:01:53 > 0:01:55is because we're about to do this.
0:01:56 > 0:02:01That's right, we're going to try wing-walking...
0:02:01 > 0:02:05which involves standing on the wings of a plane whilst it's in midair.
0:02:05 > 0:02:07And helping us do that
0:02:07 > 0:02:11is the world's only formation wing-walking display team,
0:02:11 > 0:02:13who perform dazzling displays
0:02:13 > 0:02:17and gravity-defying stunts all over the world.
0:02:19 > 0:02:24Emily, that is off the charts. How did wing-walking even begin?
0:02:24 > 0:02:27So, it all began after the First World War,
0:02:27 > 0:02:30when there were lots of planes knocking about.
0:02:30 > 0:02:34Pilots dazzled crowds by performing incredible stunts
0:02:34 > 0:02:37they'd learned during World War I at air displays.
0:02:37 > 0:02:41In 1918, one pilot, eager to show off his skills,
0:02:41 > 0:02:43stepped out onto the wings of his plane
0:02:43 > 0:02:46and wing-walking was born.
0:02:46 > 0:02:50As you can see, no worries about health and safety back them.
0:02:50 > 0:02:52I can't imagine how it feels.
0:02:52 > 0:02:55I mean, how fast do you go? What does it feel like?
0:02:55 > 0:02:58We can go up to about 150mph when we're diving for a loop,
0:02:58 > 0:03:01or it's sort of slower when you're going through different manoeuvres.
0:03:01 > 0:03:02It's pretty awesome.
0:03:02 > 0:03:05When you're doing the loop, it's up to about 4G.
0:03:05 > 0:03:09- 4G?- Yeah.- Oh, wow!- So, four times your body weight?- Yeah.
0:03:09 > 0:03:11Oh, my goodness. This is going to be fun.
0:03:11 > 0:03:14Three words, my friends - bring it on.
0:03:20 > 0:03:22Radz, how many years have we wanted to do this?
0:03:22 > 0:03:26- Too many years to count, Linds. - Let's go.- The planes are there.
0:03:26 > 0:03:30We're going to attempt a classic manoeuvre - the loop the loop.
0:03:30 > 0:03:32We will each be strapped to a plane...
0:03:32 > 0:03:33- Really tight.- Yeah.
0:03:33 > 0:03:36..and, whilst flying in formation,
0:03:36 > 0:03:39we'll perform a perfect loop in the sky.
0:03:39 > 0:03:42This is what Blue Peter is all about.
0:03:42 > 0:03:43SHE PUFFS
0:03:44 > 0:03:46- Ahhh!- Aaaah!
0:03:51 > 0:03:54- Whoo!- Oh, my goodness!
0:03:54 > 0:03:59As we hit takeoff speed, the noise is just unbelievable
0:03:59 > 0:04:05and a 150mph wind does pretty strange things to our faces.
0:04:05 > 0:04:07Mum, I'm stood on a plane!
0:04:08 > 0:04:11After a few minutes to get used to the sensation,
0:04:11 > 0:04:14it's time for our pilots to begin the loop.
0:04:14 > 0:04:18They start by diving the planes to help us gain speed.
0:04:23 > 0:04:25Then we begin to climb.
0:04:29 > 0:04:31SHE SCREAMS
0:04:37 > 0:04:39Oh, my goodness!
0:04:39 > 0:04:41Ahhh!
0:04:42 > 0:04:44Whoo!
0:04:57 > 0:04:58SHE LAUGHS
0:04:58 > 0:05:01That was the best thing I've ever done in my life.
0:05:01 > 0:05:04I feel like I genuinely need to come to terms...
0:05:04 > 0:05:08Like, wow. Lost for... I'm not usually lost for words.
0:05:08 > 0:05:10I'm properly lost for words.
0:05:10 > 0:05:11Oh, wow.
0:05:11 > 0:05:12That was genuinely
0:05:12 > 0:05:15the most terrifying thing I've ever done in my life.
0:05:15 > 0:05:19The adrenaline surging through my body was ridiculous.
0:05:19 > 0:05:21And going upside down, I cannot describe it to you.
0:05:23 > 0:05:25SHE SCREAMS
0:05:26 > 0:05:30We finished the loop the loop, I went, "Yes!"
0:05:30 > 0:05:32I looked across at you
0:05:32 > 0:05:35and you looked like you'd just seen a ghost.
0:05:35 > 0:05:38I've never... Genuinely, in all the Blue Peter filming,
0:05:38 > 0:05:41I've never been that terrified, excited, happy...
0:05:41 > 0:05:43- All the emotions. - Everything at once.
0:05:43 > 0:05:45- That's why it was a BP challenge. - We've done it.
0:05:45 > 0:05:47- Challenge complete.- Challenge over!
0:05:47 > 0:05:48MUSIC SLOWS
0:05:48 > 0:05:51Er, you didn't think that was the challenge, did you?
0:05:51 > 0:05:52- BOTH:- What?
0:05:54 > 0:05:56What you're actually here for today
0:05:56 > 0:05:59is to take on Blue Peter's iconic wing-walking challenge.
0:05:59 > 0:06:02You must pass a one-metre baton to each other
0:06:02 > 0:06:04while strapped to the wings of two planes.
0:06:04 > 0:06:07Oh, and, Lindsey, you're the one going upside down.
0:06:08 > 0:06:11One more thing. The challenge has never been completed.
0:06:11 > 0:06:15Twice Blue Peter presenters have tried to make contact in the air
0:06:15 > 0:06:17and twice they've failed.
0:06:17 > 0:06:19This is a ridiculous challenge.
0:06:19 > 0:06:22I watched this challenge when we used to watch Blue Peter growing up.
0:06:22 > 0:06:24- I've seen it. - And they've always failed,
0:06:24 > 0:06:27- so now the pressure's on. - Third time lucky.- Mm-hm.
0:06:27 > 0:06:29- And you know what's going to help?- What?
0:06:29 > 0:06:32- Happy dance as I walk off. - No... No.
0:06:33 > 0:06:36He's still doing it because it's our favourite challenge film ever.
0:06:36 > 0:06:39You can find out what happens a little bit later on.
0:06:39 > 0:06:42- We loved that day so much. - One of the best days of my life.
0:06:42 > 0:06:44- Do not move a muscle.- Can we do it?
0:06:44 > 0:06:47Well, from that baton to this mighty one.
0:06:47 > 0:06:50Feast your eyes on the Blue Peter badge baton.
0:06:50 > 0:06:54And what would a Blue Peter blue badge show be without a make?
0:06:54 > 0:06:58Barney's going to show you how to make something. Right, Barney?
0:06:58 > 0:07:00Thank you very much, my beautiful co-presenters modelling this,
0:07:00 > 0:07:04the Blue Peter baton badge holder, which I'll show you how to make.
0:07:04 > 0:07:06It's really simple. It's got a lot of moving parts.
0:07:06 > 0:07:08They're quite easy to make individually.
0:07:08 > 0:07:10You stick them all together and get a beautiful thing.
0:07:10 > 0:07:13It's a bit like me in the morning when I put make-up on.
0:07:13 > 0:07:15These are the things that you need.
0:07:24 > 0:07:26We start off by taking our kitchen sponges.
0:07:26 > 0:07:29These are the ones, with the green scoury bit on top.
0:07:29 > 0:07:32We don't want this, so peel it off. Peel it off nice and gently.
0:07:32 > 0:07:34If you go too hard, you're going to rip a big hole in your sponge -
0:07:34 > 0:07:36nobody wants that.
0:07:36 > 0:07:38Once you've done that,
0:07:38 > 0:07:40you'll end up with a sponge that looks a bit like this.
0:07:40 > 0:07:42It's really cool.
0:07:42 > 0:07:45Now we're going to try and make our badge holders.
0:07:45 > 0:07:47To do that, you need to put
0:07:47 > 0:07:49the kitchen roll tube on top, like this.
0:07:49 > 0:07:51Draw round it with a pencil.
0:07:51 > 0:07:53That'll give you two circles.
0:07:53 > 0:07:55A good tip here is to go right to the edge of the sponge,
0:07:55 > 0:07:57because we're going to try and use all of it.
0:07:57 > 0:08:01If you do it right in the middle, you'll waste a load of sponge.
0:08:01 > 0:08:03Just like that.
0:08:03 > 0:08:05Then you want to cut those circles out.
0:08:06 > 0:08:09Another tip here is to squeeze the sponge together really carefully.
0:08:09 > 0:08:13Then just cut round the edge of your fingers really carefully.
0:08:13 > 0:08:16If you need help with this, don't be afraid to ask for it.
0:08:16 > 0:08:19Once you've done that and you've cut your circles out,
0:08:19 > 0:08:22you'll end up with two sponges that look like this.
0:08:22 > 0:08:25It's important that you paint them the different colours.
0:08:25 > 0:08:28We have different coloured badges, so we have different coloured paint.
0:08:28 > 0:08:29I'm going to go with the blue one.
0:08:29 > 0:08:31Because it's sponge,
0:08:31 > 0:08:34it soaks it up really quickly, so it dries really quickly, too.
0:08:34 > 0:08:38It's not actually possible to paint all this in one go
0:08:38 > 0:08:39because we've got the bottom.
0:08:39 > 0:08:41So what you do is, you paint the top,
0:08:41 > 0:08:44then paint around the sides.
0:08:44 > 0:08:47I'm doing this really quickly just to show you.
0:08:47 > 0:08:50Don't worry about getting paint on your fingers -
0:08:50 > 0:08:51that's half of the fun.
0:08:51 > 0:08:52Once you've done that
0:08:52 > 0:08:54all the way round, let that dry.
0:08:54 > 0:08:57When it's dry, spin it over and you can paint the bottom.
0:08:57 > 0:08:59Once you've done that, you'll end up with two sponges
0:08:59 > 0:09:01that look like this.
0:09:01 > 0:09:03So now we need to make the badge holder.
0:09:03 > 0:09:06The badge holder is this bit I'm talking about.
0:09:06 > 0:09:08I know we've got the overall badge holder,
0:09:08 > 0:09:10but these are the mini-badge holders inside.
0:09:10 > 0:09:12It's a piece of card that you've cut into a strip
0:09:12 > 0:09:14and then stick a bottom on.
0:09:14 > 0:09:16So you take a piece of A4 card.
0:09:16 > 0:09:19To get the exact size, you just take the sponges,
0:09:19 > 0:09:21place them right up against the edge,
0:09:21 > 0:09:23give a little mark there with a pencil,
0:09:23 > 0:09:27and then do the same at the top, another mark with a pencil.
0:09:27 > 0:09:29Then you take your ruler.
0:09:29 > 0:09:32You draw a line to join those dots. You've done this before.
0:09:34 > 0:09:36Then you want to do the bottom part of the holder, which is this.
0:09:36 > 0:09:39To do that, you take your sponge, put it onto the card,
0:09:39 > 0:09:41and draw a circle around it.
0:09:41 > 0:09:44Then you cut them both out and you'll end up with two bits,
0:09:44 > 0:09:45like this.
0:09:45 > 0:09:47So, now stick them together.
0:09:47 > 0:09:50Take your sponges onto the centre of the card.
0:09:50 > 0:09:53You'll find it's a perfect fit because you measured it earlier.
0:09:53 > 0:09:56Then you want to roll them up, like that.
0:09:57 > 0:10:01Just get a bit of tape and stick it together.
0:10:01 > 0:10:03Job done...he says. It's a very messy job.
0:10:03 > 0:10:05I'm doing this quickly, but you know what I mean.
0:10:05 > 0:10:07Then you want to take your bottom part.
0:10:07 > 0:10:10I'm not sure how you feel about tape sticking everywhere on something.
0:10:10 > 0:10:13It doesn't look very neat, so what you can do...
0:10:14 > 0:10:17..is fold your tape over like that,
0:10:17 > 0:10:20stick it onto the back of your bottom...
0:10:20 > 0:10:21The bottom of your card.
0:10:21 > 0:10:24..and then you place that onto your sponge.
0:10:24 > 0:10:26That is how you make your badge holder.
0:10:26 > 0:10:28All you need to do now is do that same process
0:10:28 > 0:10:30and repeat it with the other colours.
0:10:30 > 0:10:32We've got the purple badge, the silver...
0:10:32 > 0:10:36We've used black card for that - you can't really find silver card.
0:10:36 > 0:10:38If you can, you can use it. We've got the green and the red.
0:10:38 > 0:10:41Now we need to put our badge into our badge holder.
0:10:41 > 0:10:44All you do is you take the little stud off the back of the badge
0:10:44 > 0:10:47and then you use your fingers to compress the sponge
0:10:47 > 0:10:49so that when the pin comes through, you can see it.
0:10:49 > 0:10:51You don't want to get a nasty jab in the finger.
0:10:51 > 0:10:54Then you put the stopper on the end and, that's it, you're good to go.
0:10:54 > 0:10:57You take your two pieces of sponge, you put your first one in,
0:10:57 > 0:11:01and then you put your second one in, and that is really, very simply,
0:11:01 > 0:11:03how you make the badge holders inside the baton.
0:11:03 > 0:11:06Now we need to make the baton. This is the easiest thing ever.
0:11:06 > 0:11:09You want to get the two-litre plastic bottle that you've got,
0:11:09 > 0:11:12you want to cut the bottom off it and you want to cut the top off it.
0:11:12 > 0:11:15Then you want to find the midway line, halfway round,
0:11:15 > 0:11:18and cut down both sides so that you're ending up with half a bottle.
0:11:18 > 0:11:20And it will look like this.
0:11:20 > 0:11:22The best way to get the right size for this
0:11:22 > 0:11:24is to place your badge holders inside...
0:11:26 > 0:11:29I'm doing this really quickly just to show you.
0:11:30 > 0:11:32And then if you do this from the back,
0:11:32 > 0:11:37you actually squeeze this part of the plastic over the badges,
0:11:37 > 0:11:40and then you kind of roll it, and roll it quite tightly.
0:11:40 > 0:11:43Once you've made that, you then make the holder.
0:11:43 > 0:11:44This is the easiest thing of all.
0:11:44 > 0:11:46All you do is take your kitchen roll tube
0:11:46 > 0:11:49and then you can print out this template on the Blue Peter website.
0:11:49 > 0:11:52Print it out and you'll notice that we've cut it to size
0:11:52 > 0:11:54so it actually fits the kitchen roll.
0:11:54 > 0:11:56Place it on the top.
0:11:56 > 0:11:58And, again, a lot of rolling in this, mate.
0:11:58 > 0:12:01You roll it together, take some tape,
0:12:01 > 0:12:05stick it down, and it's as easy as that.
0:12:07 > 0:12:09Once you've done that, all that's left for you to do
0:12:09 > 0:12:11is to place your holder inside and job is done.
0:12:11 > 0:12:14All the details you need are on the Blue Peter website.
0:12:14 > 0:12:16Why don't you try and make one?
0:12:17 > 0:12:19That was actually great.
0:12:19 > 0:12:21Something else which is great is that, recently,
0:12:21 > 0:12:25I got to meet US comedian and chat show host Ellen DeGeneres.
0:12:25 > 0:12:26There we are. Best friends.
0:12:26 > 0:12:30I went to give her a BP badge and chat all things Finding Dory.
0:12:30 > 0:12:32Have a little look at this.
0:12:32 > 0:12:34What is your favourite emoji?
0:12:34 > 0:12:37- We get asked this all the time. - Really?- Yeah.
0:12:37 > 0:12:41I... It's the scary face with the teeth, you know...
0:12:41 > 0:12:44- The awkward one?- Yeah. That one going like that.
0:12:46 > 0:12:49There you go. That's our favourite emoji as well. I loved meeting her.
0:12:49 > 0:12:50If you want to see more of that,
0:12:50 > 0:12:52head to the Blue Peter website after the show.
0:12:52 > 0:12:55Linds, on a scale of one to ten, how much do you like her?
0:12:55 > 0:12:58- Off the scale.- You like her an awful lot?- I love her so much.
0:12:58 > 0:13:00I'll tell you what I love off the charts -
0:13:00 > 0:13:03- the Blue Peter big badge wall. - Here it is. Looking good this week.
0:13:03 > 0:13:06I've got to talk about this fantastic picture sent from Daisy.
0:13:06 > 0:13:08She's from East Ayrshire
0:13:08 > 0:13:10and who's sent in all of the Blue Peter family.
0:13:10 > 0:13:12There's myself, Lindsey, Barney, Shelly, Iggy,

0:14:57 > 0:15:00and I wanted to give her a Blue Peter badge.
0:15:00 > 0:15:02I could either send it to her
0:15:02 > 0:15:06or dress up like a knight and give it to her myself.
0:15:06 > 0:15:08Emily has no idea I'm about to surprise her.
0:15:08 > 0:15:11It's not every day a medieval knight turns up to your door,

0:15:30 > 0:15:33I think the likeness is actually pretty good.
0:15:33 > 0:15:35I think you've got it absolutely bob-on.
0:15:35 > 0:15:37I think this is brilliant. Well worthy of a Blue Peter badge.
0:15:37 > 0:15:39Before you get your badge,

0:15:45 > 0:15:48Emily really impressed us with her letter all about medieval times,
0:15:48 > 0:15:52which she'd been studying at school, plus I loved her picture.
0:15:52 > 0:15:53So we've come to Linlithgow Palace.
0:15:53 > 0:15:56Its grounds have been home to Scottish royals
0:15:56 > 0:15:57since the 12th century,

0:16:04 > 0:16:07- Emily loves medieval anything. - Brilliant.- Archery in particular.
0:16:07 > 0:16:08She drew me as a knight,
0:16:08 > 0:16:10which is why I've come dressed for the occasion.
0:16:10 > 0:16:12- Excellent.- We are raring to go.
0:16:12 > 0:16:14- Do you fancy giving archery a go? - Yeah.- Beautiful.
0:16:14 > 0:16:17- Where do we start? - Let's do it. I'll show you.
0:16:17 > 0:16:19Take your arrow, click it onto the string,
0:16:19 > 0:16:23and draw the bowstring up to the side of your mouth.
0:16:23 > 0:16:25- OK?- Cool?- OK.- Good.
0:16:25 > 0:16:27Let's see how you get on.
0:16:30 > 0:16:32Emily is doing really well.
0:16:32 > 0:16:34- Yes! Great shot.- Ooh!
0:16:34 > 0:16:36Which is more than can be said for me.
0:16:36 > 0:16:38HE GROANS
0:16:38 > 0:16:39And let's not forget,
0:16:39 > 0:16:42Emily also hit the mark with her picture and letter,
0:16:42 > 0:16:44so there's just one thing left to do.
0:16:45 > 0:16:48I am delighted to give you your very own Blue Peter badge.
0:16:48 > 0:16:50- Congratulations.- Thank you.
0:16:50 > 0:16:52And now we'd like to finish with a cheesy smile to camera.
0:16:55 > 0:16:56How great was that?
0:16:56 > 0:16:59You may be able to tell that I'm trying to control my excitement
0:16:59 > 0:17:02because my new show, Taking The Next Step,
0:17:02 > 0:17:04has been on again and it is really hotting up.
0:17:04 > 0:17:06We saw the six dancers
0:17:06 > 0:17:09that have made it through to the final round of auditions in Canada.
0:17:09 > 0:17:11A few months ago, I was lucky enough
0:17:11 > 0:17:13to catch up with some of the stars of The Next Step,
0:17:13 > 0:17:16who told me how they thought the finalists got on.
0:17:16 > 0:17:17Have a look at this.
0:17:17 > 0:17:20Now, here in the studio, I am joined by Trevor, Isaac and Lamar
0:17:20 > 0:17:22from The Next Step!
0:17:22 > 0:17:24CHEERING
0:17:24 > 0:17:28We've got some proper Next Step super-fans in the studio.
0:17:28 > 0:17:32Now, Trevor, tell us a little bit about the show. What's it all about?
0:17:32 > 0:17:35You guys auditioned a bunch of dancers here in the UK,
0:17:35 > 0:17:37broke it down to six amazing dancers,
0:17:37 > 0:17:40brought them over to the Next Step dance studios, filmed it,
0:17:40 > 0:17:43broke it down to one lucky winner, and that lucky winner
0:17:43 > 0:17:45actually got cast in an episode of The Next Step.
0:17:45 > 0:17:48I was annoyed that I couldn't actually audition.
0:17:48 > 0:17:51I would love to be part of the Next Step cast.
0:17:51 > 0:17:53- Next time. Next time.- Next time!
0:17:53 > 0:17:56- Isaac, the prize is just awesome for this, isn't it?- Yeah, yeah.
0:17:56 > 0:17:58It's crazy cos, you know,
0:17:58 > 0:18:01they were telling us they're fans of the show,
0:18:01 > 0:18:06and that one winner gets to come on and act with us on an episode,
0:18:06 > 0:18:08which must be, like, amazing.
0:18:08 > 0:18:11It's like me getting to dance with one of my favourite dancers,
0:18:11 > 0:18:12you know what I mean, that feeling.
0:18:12 > 0:18:15It was a pretty cool experience for them.
0:18:15 > 0:18:18Lamar, their reactions when they first got on set, they saw you guys,
0:18:18 > 0:18:20they were kind of beside themselves, weren't they?
0:18:20 > 0:18:23Yeah, you know, it was kind of like a fairytale to them,
0:18:23 > 0:18:25cos they see it on television
0:18:25 > 0:18:28and now to actually physically be there and to see it,
0:18:28 > 0:18:29it was kind of crazy to them.
0:18:29 > 0:18:31And like what Isaac said,
0:18:31 > 0:18:33the potential of being able to be on the show,
0:18:33 > 0:18:37they really brought their A game, and I was really impressed.
0:18:37 > 0:18:39It must have been so nerve-racking as well.
0:18:39 > 0:18:41Can you imagine walking in that first time?
0:18:41 > 0:18:43You guys did for season one. How did that feel?
0:18:43 > 0:18:46Did it kind of bring back some of those memories?
0:18:46 > 0:18:48Totally. Totally reminded us of ourselves.
0:18:48 > 0:18:49Like, I mean, they were nervous,
0:18:49 > 0:18:51but they were also bringing their A games
0:18:51 > 0:18:54and pulling out all their best tricks, killing it.
0:18:54 > 0:18:57- The pressure's on, isn't it? - Definitely.- Oh, yeah.- For sure.
0:18:57 > 0:18:59Now, be honest, what did you think of their dance ability?
0:18:59 > 0:19:02- I thought they were all brilliant. Did you agree?- 100%, yeah.
0:19:02 > 0:19:06You know, I remember watching for the first time
0:19:06 > 0:19:08and, like, I was sitting there, and then all of a sudden,
0:19:08 > 0:19:11it was like, oh, oh, snap, OK.
0:19:11 > 0:19:13Oh, yeah.
0:19:13 > 0:19:15And it was great because, you know,
0:19:15 > 0:19:18everyone kind of had their own different style,
0:19:18 > 0:19:19which was great to see as well.
0:19:19 > 0:19:23So, you know, everyone had their own kind of strengths,
0:19:23 > 0:19:24and it was really great to see.
0:19:24 > 0:19:29And to see the UK style compared to what we see every day,
0:19:29 > 0:19:31it was cool to see that.
0:19:31 > 0:19:34- Did they teach you some moves? - For real.- Yeah.- Definitely.
0:19:34 > 0:19:37You got to perform with them as well, didn't you?
0:19:37 > 0:19:39- You got to dance with them? - We had to.
0:19:39 > 0:19:41When we saw them dancing, we were like...
0:19:41 > 0:19:45- That's just the type of people we are.- Can we see that flip again?
0:19:45 > 0:19:46- Yeah.- Definitely.
0:19:46 > 0:19:48Can everyone thank The Next Step for coming in?
0:19:48 > 0:19:50CHEERING
0:19:50 > 0:19:51And just because it's Blue Peter,
0:19:51 > 0:19:55here is a little sneak peek of what you can look forward to.
0:19:55 > 0:19:59These top six finalists from Taking The Next Step are on set right now,
0:19:59 > 0:20:01so I thought I was going to maybe surprise them.
0:20:01 > 0:20:03Riley says she just finds it funny
0:20:03 > 0:20:05that their hang-out place changes every year.
0:20:05 > 0:20:07James...
0:20:07 > 0:20:09I know Riley...
0:20:09 > 0:20:11ALL GASP
0:20:11 > 0:20:14Guys, look who it is!
0:20:14 > 0:20:16Everyone started going, "Ohh", like this,
0:20:16 > 0:20:17and I was like, "What? What?"
0:20:17 > 0:20:20You guys are reading scripts without me?
0:20:20 > 0:20:23And Riley is my favourite, so I started crying.
0:20:23 > 0:20:25I couldn't believe it.
0:20:25 > 0:20:27I was just reading your part and then I turned round...
0:20:27 > 0:20:29- Are you crying?- Julia was so sweet.
0:20:29 > 0:20:33When they saw me, they were so shocked and super-excited as well.
0:20:34 > 0:20:36How awesome was that?
0:20:36 > 0:20:38And if you can't get enough of Taking The Next Step,
0:20:38 > 0:20:41there's a special fan club message online, so check it out.
0:20:41 > 0:20:45- Linds...- Radzi's meant to be doing this part of the link.
0:20:45 > 0:20:48He's currently unable to speak because he's that excited,
0:20:48 > 0:20:50so I'll speak for him.
0:20:50 > 0:20:53In part one, you saw us take on the start of our wing-walking challenge.
0:20:53 > 0:20:58The question is, could we pass this baton in midair flying at 120mph?
0:20:58 > 0:21:00Check this out.
0:21:01 > 0:21:06We are about take on the classic Blue Peter wing-walking challenge.
0:21:06 > 0:21:10It's been attempted twice before and, both times, it's failed.
0:21:10 > 0:21:12- It was so close.- I'm so annoyed!
0:21:12 > 0:21:13Can we succeed?
0:21:13 > 0:21:17If we can, it will be with the help of our pilots,
0:21:17 > 0:21:18Martin and Dave.
0:21:18 > 0:21:22Guys, how exactly are we going to do this? How does it work?
0:21:22 > 0:21:24Basically, what we're going to do
0:21:24 > 0:21:27is we're going to fly two vintage biplanes,
0:21:27 > 0:21:30called Boeing Stearmans, in formation,
0:21:30 > 0:21:34but we're going to do it in a slightly complicated way
0:21:34 > 0:21:38in that we're going to fly one above the other in perfect alignment,
0:21:38 > 0:21:40and then, as we're there,
0:21:40 > 0:21:42you're going to be standing on the wing
0:21:42 > 0:21:46and passing that baton across to Radzi.
0:21:46 > 0:21:49OK. SHE LAUGHS
0:21:49 > 0:21:51But the limiting factor here is -
0:21:51 > 0:21:54it's all going to happen in ten seconds.
0:21:54 > 0:21:56- Just ten seconds?- Just ten seconds.
0:21:56 > 0:21:59- It's like doing a relay race. - Exactly.
0:21:59 > 0:22:01- I need to wait till I can feel Radzi's grab.- Yes.
0:22:01 > 0:22:05- And be flying through the air and be upside down...- Yes.
0:22:05 > 0:22:08- ..on the wing of a plane.- At 120mph.
0:22:08 > 0:22:10I will not be calm, by the way.
0:22:10 > 0:22:14Now I understand why Blue Peter presenters haven't done this before.
0:22:14 > 0:22:15Now I get it.
0:22:21 > 0:22:24I've done a lot of Blue Peter challenges,
0:22:24 > 0:22:26but there's a difference with this one
0:22:26 > 0:22:28because this one isn't on my own.
0:22:28 > 0:22:31I've got to do this and work as a team with Radzi,
0:22:31 > 0:22:35and I really, really, really don't want to let him down.
0:22:35 > 0:22:37We're representing Team Blue Peter
0:22:37 > 0:22:41and, hopefully, we can do it for this -
0:22:41 > 0:22:42the Blue Peter badge.
0:22:44 > 0:22:47We only have around three attempts to get this right
0:22:47 > 0:22:50because there's a limit to the number of times
0:22:50 > 0:22:54that I can hold the baton up in 120mph winds.
0:22:55 > 0:22:56So the pressure's on.
0:22:58 > 0:23:02- Blue Peter history. - Let's do it.- Let's do it.
0:23:02 > 0:23:03All right!
0:23:11 > 0:23:15Once in the air, Martin and Dave begin to manoeuvre us into position
0:23:15 > 0:23:17for our first attempt.
0:23:21 > 0:23:25They need to be so exact in their flying.
0:23:25 > 0:23:28Up here, every centimetre counts...
0:23:28 > 0:23:30And let's not forget - I'm upside down.
0:23:33 > 0:23:35We swoop into position,
0:23:35 > 0:23:38trying to match the speed of Lindsey's plane.
0:23:39 > 0:23:43I've got just ten seconds to try and grab the baton...
0:23:44 > 0:23:46..but we're just not close enough.
0:23:47 > 0:23:49So close!
0:23:49 > 0:23:52Now it's clear just how difficult this challenge is
0:23:52 > 0:23:55and I'm starting to wonder if it's actually possible.
0:23:59 > 0:24:01We line up for our second try.
0:24:07 > 0:24:10We're definitely closer. Are we going to do it?
0:24:10 > 0:24:11Come on!
0:24:11 > 0:24:13No!
0:24:13 > 0:24:16Just don't know if we're ever going to get this right.
0:24:21 > 0:24:24I'm starting to struggle, my arms are in agony,
0:24:24 > 0:24:26but I'm not quitting yet.
0:24:26 > 0:24:28This is our last chance.
0:24:28 > 0:24:30It's now or never.
0:24:31 > 0:24:33We start our third run.
0:24:36 > 0:24:37I wait until the last second
0:24:37 > 0:24:41and then hold the baton as high as I possibly can.
0:24:46 > 0:24:51Every inch of me is willing us to get closer. Just come on!
0:24:54 > 0:24:56And then...
0:24:58 > 0:25:01- Yes!- We've done it!
0:25:05 > 0:25:07Yeah!
0:25:14 > 0:25:16SHE YELLS WITH DELIGHT
0:25:18 > 0:25:20We did it!
0:25:20 > 0:25:23Oh, hands down, the best day of my life.
0:25:23 > 0:25:24Can we just say...
0:25:24 > 0:25:28that was down to these absolute legendary pilots, Dave and Martin?
0:25:28 > 0:25:31What skill! What control!
0:25:31 > 0:25:33Blue Peter history.
0:25:35 > 0:25:38I can't believe we've finally laid this challenge to rest.
0:25:38 > 0:25:43We hope it's inspired you to earn your Blue Peter badges this summer.
0:25:43 > 0:25:48So, go on, get stuck in and take on the Blue Peter Badge Baton Relay.
0:25:51 > 0:25:54- Yes! We did it!- That was so good. - The wing-walking challenge complete.
0:25:54 > 0:25:58- You're never going to stop doing the happy dance.- Do it again!
0:25:58 > 0:26:00Honestly, one of the best days, best challenges,
0:26:00 > 0:26:03best Blue Peter moments of my life, of your life.
0:26:03 > 0:26:05- Incredible. Done it!- What a day!
0:26:05 > 0:26:09Hopefully that's inspired you to take on the Baton Challenge,
0:26:09 > 0:26:12so do it because, next week, we're moving on to this little guy.
0:26:12 > 0:26:15It is, of course, the Blue Peter sport badge 2016.
0:26:15 > 0:26:17And on next week's show,
0:26:17 > 0:26:19you'll see the Blue Peter 2016 competition badge winner, Sam,
0:26:19 > 0:26:22and myself go exclusively behind the scenes
