:00:54. > :01:14.

:01:14. > :01:18.studio, singing live later on. -- Hello! It is an exciting day. We

:01:18. > :01:24.have celebrities, we have fashion, competition winners and we have got

:01:24. > :01:29.a very special guest. Her Royal Highness, Princess Anne, has agreed

:01:29. > :01:33.to open a brand new Blue Peter garden here. A we were blown away

:01:33. > :01:39.that somebody so important helped us Open the garden, and her name is

:01:39. > :01:43.Princess Anne. Her Royal Highness Princess Anne is the daughter of

:01:43. > :01:47.the Queen and Prince Philip. She has three brothers, Prince Edward,

:01:47. > :01:52.Prince Andrew and Prince Charles, who is heir to the throne. Princess

:01:52. > :01:57.Anne is the mother of Peter and Zara Phillips, recently married

:01:57. > :02:05.England rugby captain Mike Tindall. She is also on tea to Prince Harry

:02:05. > :02:10.and Prince William. -- Auntie. You can find out how everything went in

:02:10. > :02:14.the garden scene. Now, let's talk about something exciting. I do like

:02:14. > :02:18.a bit of experimental. And I do like food! If you watched

:02:18. > :02:23.Incredible Edibles, it has been on every day, you know that Stefan

:02:23. > :02:27.Gates is a legend. He likes to make memorable meals. Because the

:02:27. > :02:31.weather has been so freezing, we wondered if he could make something

:02:31. > :02:35.freezing and edible. He does come about with things you would

:02:35. > :02:39.normally find in the kitchen. The weather has been freezing

:02:39. > :02:43.recently. Just the other week it dropped to minus 18 in

:02:43. > :02:46.Buckinghamshire. You might not like having to rub up against the cold,

:02:46. > :02:50.but when it comes to getting creative in the kitchen, the cold

:02:50. > :02:56.is brilliant. Before I show you might coolest kitchen creations, I

:02:56. > :03:04.want to let you in on an amazing secret about the cold. Here we go.

:03:04. > :03:09.Parmesan. It does not a little bit like sick. Food is made up of

:03:09. > :03:14.molecules. And they are very interesting, because when they

:03:14. > :03:20.warned, they zip around. But when they are cold, those molecules

:03:20. > :03:26.slowdown, so we smelt boot lefts. A fridge is pretty good at slowing

:03:26. > :03:33.molecules down. But there is a better way. CO2 canisters are used

:03:33. > :03:37.for putting out fires, but can also unfreeze food. Fast. This is

:03:37. > :03:41.freezing cold, I will smell it again. It smells pretty much of

:03:41. > :03:47.nothing. That is because all of those of flavour volatile molecules

:03:47. > :03:52.are not really moving any more. I promised you I would show you some

:03:52. > :03:56.really cool of food. I will show you the coolest desert on the

:03:56. > :04:05.planet ever. But I need to get something that is really, really

:04:05. > :04:12.dangerous. The liquid nitrogen. - 196 degrees. It is incredibly cold,

:04:12. > :04:22.and incredibly dangerous. Just look at what it does to Arrows. -- Annie

:04:22. > :04:23.

:04:23. > :04:28.Rose. It has been there for a few seconds. It looks lovely, doesn't

:04:28. > :04:33.it? That is how cold it is. But you can use this stuff for food. I am

:04:33. > :04:37.going to make the fastest ice cream on the planet by pouring liquid

:04:37. > :04:43.nitrogen straight into the ice cream base. Basically, cream, sugar

:04:43. > :04:50.and a little bit of vanilla flavouring. A bit of a stir. This

:04:50. > :05:00.is what I call cooking! There we have it. Ice-cream made in 13

:05:00. > :05:00.

:05:00. > :05:06.I love it! And I have saved a little liquid nitrogen for the

:05:06. > :05:13.topping. Deep frozen strawberries and raspberries. They are a bit bit

:05:13. > :05:18.like that, though. Let's make them a bit smaller. I am nearly ready to

:05:18. > :05:22.serve my super-cool desert. But fantastic freezing doesn't stop at

:05:22. > :05:28.the food. There is nothing interesting about a bowl, unless

:05:28. > :05:32.you can make one purely out of ice. If it sounds tricky, it is not.

:05:32. > :05:37.What you need is two plastic bowls, don't use china or glass, because

:05:37. > :05:43.they can crack. What we are going to do is put some water into the

:05:43. > :05:48.large bowl, and then push the small ball down into it. It is a whole

:05:48. > :05:55.lot of water we are going to freeze. You can but whatever you want into

:05:55. > :06:01.the water, just remember to create a hollow. Freeze everything

:06:01. > :06:08.overnight, then remove the plastic balls. There we go, won't you sick

:06:08. > :06:18.-- beautiful bowl. Liquid nitrogen ice cream of. And then, my liquid

:06:18. > :06:28.nitrogen popping. -- topping. A little bit of frozen Parmesan. None

:06:28. > :06:32.

:06:32. > :06:41.of this now, but all of the taste! I am in heaven! That is the coolest

:06:41. > :06:45.of desert on the planet. It really is cool.

:06:45. > :06:50.I don't know whether to laugh or cry sometimes! I had fish ice-cream

:06:50. > :06:54.won't! We will talk about that later.

:06:54. > :06:59.Some things on the show go down in history, we are hoping to date is

:06:59. > :07:03.one of them. We are reopening the famous Blue Peter garden. We had to

:07:03. > :07:07.leave the studio and trouble 500 metres of that way.

:07:07. > :07:12.Hello and welcome to the piazza in Media City in Salford, the new home

:07:12. > :07:18.to the Blue Peter sunken garden, hiding just behind these trellises.

:07:18. > :07:21.Not yet! It will be revealed very soon. When we decided to move our

:07:21. > :07:25.studios to salt but can a we wanted to bring a bit of the garden with

:07:25. > :07:31.us, because we know you like it. Kris Commons has been the gardener

:07:31. > :07:36.for many years. It cannot have been easy. Moving a garden more than 200

:07:36. > :07:43.miles? Up against the clock. We worked day and night, There are few

:07:43. > :07:48.sore muscles! It is actually in the wrong place! I'm only kidding. Some

:07:48. > :07:53.amazing work. We are now going to find that how you got it from

:07:54. > :08:01.London to hearing Salford. The Blue Peter garden has been home

:08:01. > :08:05.to some of the most memorable moments on the show. It has been

:08:06. > :08:10.host to hundreds of guests over the years. From international movie

:08:10. > :08:18.stars to this. It has been transformed into a winter

:08:18. > :08:23.Wonderland. And even had a human cannonball fired out a bit. -- five

:08:23. > :08:28.out of it. But after 40 years at BBC Television Centre is, it is

:08:28. > :08:34.time to move it here, to Salford. But how do you make the garden 200

:08:34. > :08:37.miles up 0? There is only one man for that job. Chris has been the

:08:37. > :08:41.Blue Peter garden of for eight years, but moving this piece of

:08:41. > :08:46.history to its new home in Salford is his biggest challenge to date.

:08:46. > :08:51.He started eight months ago, back in 20th July 11. First on the list

:08:51. > :08:56.is the Italian sunken garden. This is a massive jigsaw that has

:08:56. > :09:03.already been put together. You have to remember where those pieces go.

:09:03. > :09:07.That is the idea! This Italian sunken garden was built in 1978 by

:09:07. > :09:13.the first Blue Peter Gardner, Percy Thrower. It took almost six months

:09:13. > :09:17.to build. The presenters finished it off by putting their hand, beat

:09:17. > :09:21.and paw prints in the concrete. So piece by piece, it is all coming

:09:21. > :09:31.with us. How why are you going to know where to start? I have got to

:09:31. > :09:35.make sure I market will. These will go in first. So one brought up.

:09:35. > :09:40.order to move this jigsaw of the slabs can his ideas be clearly

:09:40. > :09:43.labelled each individual piece, so that when he gets up to sort that

:09:43. > :09:52.can they can put them back in the same order. I will slot that in and

:09:52. > :09:58.work of that. But the biggest piece of all is the handbrake slab.

:09:58. > :10:02.is a monster. Even that isn't a patch on the Statue of Petra, which

:10:02. > :10:09.weighs over a ton. Petra was the first Blue Peter dog, and she has

:10:09. > :10:13.been here since 1979. We will see you in Salford! Finally, the time

:10:13. > :10:17.capsule. It was buried in the year 2000 so that the next generation of

:10:17. > :10:23.viewers can see what life was like at the turn of the millennium.

:10:23. > :10:27.will be coming out in the year 2029! You have probably spotted we

:10:28. > :10:32.are digging it up early, but the plan is not to open it, but to bury

:10:32. > :10:38.it, unopened, in Salford. It is hidden in a top secret location, so

:10:38. > :10:43.we need to find it first! I have spoken to my friends in the Secret

:10:43. > :10:47.Service, they sent us this map. That is where the green house used

:10:47. > :10:53.to be to stop if we go three metres from that war, one metre from that,

:10:53. > :11:03.that is where our time capsule is. -- from that wall. Let's get

:11:03. > :11:03.

:11:04. > :11:10.digging! Keep going, but you back into it. -- put your back into it.

:11:10. > :11:17.Keep up the good work! Cheers, thanks to the your help! Ber 24

:11:17. > :11:23.hours later, he is still digging! Solid concrete. This makes it

:11:23. > :11:31.pretty much impossible to dig this hole with a spade. So it is time to

:11:31. > :11:36.bring in the big guns. I hope it is down there! In the end, it takes 72

:11:36. > :11:41.hours, several men and the digger, but the time capsule has been found,

:11:41. > :11:45.and can make its way up north along with everything else. Fast-forward

:11:45. > :11:51.eight months, and with a spring on its way, it is time to put the

:11:51. > :11:56.garden back together. The new garden is been created in the

:11:56. > :12:01.public piazza at Media City UK, so that everyone can enjoy it. But

:12:01. > :12:07.this is a big build, and Chris has only 11 days to complete it. The

:12:07. > :12:11.garden has to be sunken, so the first job is to dig it out. Several

:12:11. > :12:18.days later, Chris is ready to put in the first piece of this giant

:12:18. > :12:22.jigsaw. I have got one flow, and that means one floor. The number

:12:22. > :12:26.one means it is the edge of the pond, so what I am going to do is

:12:27. > :12:31.to get all the pieces all round the edge of the pond, and the rest,

:12:31. > :12:34.with a bit of luck, should all fall into place. But this amount of

:12:34. > :12:43.precision takes time, and the next day, Chris and the team are still

:12:43. > :12:53.at it, so I have come a long. You will need be used. Why not lay a

:12:53. > :13:02.few slabs? I would love to. Just slide that in, just a slight Papac.

:13:02. > :13:12.I will leave you to that. I am all right at jigsaws, but even those

:13:12. > :13:12.

:13:12. > :13:17.pieces are small. We might be here while the stop and we are. One of

:13:17. > :13:24.the final piece is to go in is the handprints of the old presenters. -

:13:24. > :13:34.- the final pieces. And a few days later it is time for the class of

:13:34. > :13:43.

:13:43. > :13:48.Well done! So from the latest Blue Peter dog to the very first. It is

:13:48. > :13:53.time for Pedro to take pride of place in the new garden as our very

:13:53. > :13:58.own garden dog. That just leaves the time capsule. It is going to be

:13:58. > :14:03.buried here, but its location is top secret, so if you don't mind...

:14:03. > :14:09.And while I hide that, Chris get on with putting in the finishing

:14:09. > :14:15.touches. This really is my favourite part. It has been a long,

:14:15. > :14:19.hard slog, probably the hardest I have ever had to build in my years.

:14:19. > :14:26.The garden in London lasted 40 years. Let's hope this one here

:14:26. > :14:36.lasts many more decades. And here it is in all of its glory. Blue

:14:36. > :14:42.

:14:42. > :14:47.We have We are privileged to have a special guest to have us open it.

:14:47. > :14:57.Pleasure. This is the easy bit. Some of you have been working quite

:14:57. > :14:58.

:14:58. > :15:01.hard. It is a pleasure. APPLAUSE

:15:01. > :15:04.You have got to put it somewhere in the garden. You are going to plant

:15:04. > :15:08.the tree which is a feature or will be once you have left. There are

:15:08. > :15:12.lots of features in the garden, the pond and the sun dial over there,

:15:12. > :15:18.all travelled from London to here in Salford and our very own guard

:15:18. > :15:24.dog over there, Petra. As well as being here to open the

:15:24. > :15:31.Blue Peter Garden, Her Royal Highness is here to let us know

:15:31. > :15:36.about an environmental project. It is to do with the Queen's Golden

:15:36. > :15:45.Jubilee. Here is more information. Six million trees.

:15:45. > :15:51.60 diamond woods. It is all part of the jubilee woods project, the

:15:51. > :15:57.Woodland's Trust mission to plant six million trees. 60 diamond woods

:15:57. > :16:04.will be planted. It is a tradition that dates back to 1937, when

:16:04. > :16:09.hundreds of of thousands of people planted trees to mark the

:16:09. > :16:13.coronation of King George VI. Planting trees can stop flooding

:16:13. > :16:18.and create environments for wildlife and this year, people from

:16:18. > :16:23.all over the country are getting involved, helping to transform our

:16:23. > :16:27.landscape. Why do you hope that Blue Peter

:16:27. > :16:32.viewers will get involved in the project? As I think you have

:16:32. > :16:37.introduced the subject. There are a lot of school packs going on

:16:37. > :16:40.through the Jubilee Trust and we are looking forward to as many

:16:40. > :16:45.children as planting trees. It is about long-term planning. It is

:16:45. > :16:50.something they can grow up with. I am old enough enough to have seen

:16:50. > :16:53.trees planned as a crop grow up, be harvested and planted again, but it

:16:53. > :16:58.is nice to be able to see the changes that happen when you plant

:16:58. > :17:03.a tree and it marks, OK it marks a passage of time, but it reminds you

:17:03. > :17:09.of really special things. A long-term gain and a lot of

:17:09. > :17:14.enjoyment. Her Royal Highness is going to

:17:14. > :17:22.plant a silver birch. And which one of you is going to

:17:22. > :17:26.hold my handbag? This is tough soil. We always plant

:17:26. > :17:36.to a square hole because it encourages the roots.

:17:36. > :17:46.

:17:46. > :17:49.Chris, you might have to watch your I knew I had to take the handbag,

:17:49. > :17:50.because if you took it, you would have gone like that, wouldn't you?

:17:50. > :17:53.No, I would never do anything like that.

:17:53. > :17:56.You can't do that to a princess. If you want to get involved by

:17:56. > :17:58.planting a tree at home, the details are on the the Blue Peter

:17:58. > :18:02.website. Rap star and style guru, Tinchy

:18:02. > :18:08.Stryder gives you his tips on how to create a pair of trorveg

:18:08. > :18:13.stopping -- traffic stopping trainers. Sher Lloyd is in the

:18:13. > :18:17.studio to perform her latest single. Over the last weeks, you were into

:18:17. > :18:22.that, weren't you? I really was. You will be into the tune when she

:18:22. > :18:24.performs it. It is catchy. We have been asking you to send in your

:18:24. > :18:32.animal pictures. It is part of a Blue Peter competition.

:18:32. > :18:36.We have had January. That was the shot of the fruit beetle. For March

:18:36. > :18:40.we asked you to send your photos. So many entries came in.

:18:40. > :18:44.We had over 1,000 entries and you were part of the judging panel. I

:18:44. > :18:50.know you had a difficult job because there were great pictures,

:18:51. > :18:54.but what were you looking for? Original nationality, as your idea,

:18:54. > :18:58.composition and technical ability. I think the winner is the winner

:18:58. > :19:04.because it achieved all those things and it did it really well

:19:04. > :19:09.because it it makes you feel, the winner is Eve and she is 13 and

:19:09. > :19:12.this is the photo she took. APPLAUSE

:19:12. > :19:17.It just makes you smile, doesn't it? It tells a story and we love it.

:19:17. > :19:19.If you want to print off the Blue Peter calendar, go to the website.

:19:19. > :19:23.There are important dates on the calendar.

:19:23. > :19:33.. Now, we like to give you the inside story on everything that you

:19:33. > :19:35.

:19:35. > :19:39.are talking about and we know that Trainers, you can run in them,

:19:39. > :19:45.dance in them, jump in them, and the chances are you have got at

:19:45. > :19:49.least one pair in your wardrobe. With around 100 million pairs sold

:19:49. > :19:55.in the UK each year, they are fashionable footwear and the latest

:19:55. > :19:58.trend is about making them your own, like this, this and even this!

:19:59. > :20:03.Lots of the big brands now offer the chance to choose the colour,

:20:03. > :20:13.material, and text on your threads, but since unique style doesn't come

:20:13. > :20:17.cheap, we asked three fashionistas three ways to jazz up your pumps

:20:17. > :20:23.without breaking the bank. Michelle is the ideal person to

:20:23. > :20:27.give you tips. Her style is all about sticking on pics.

:20:27. > :20:33.Think of pictures or text that you like the look of. Print your

:20:33. > :20:35.pictures on a toner photocopier. This can be done easily at most

:20:35. > :20:42.print stores. To stick the pictures on, you will

:20:42. > :20:45.need a tube of image transfer cream. Simply paste the cream on top of

:20:45. > :20:48.the picture, also just brush it on the section of the trainer where

:20:48. > :20:52.the section of the trainer where you want to put your image.

:20:52. > :20:56.This picture is going to go face down on the trainer.

:20:56. > :20:59.Once you have stuck down as many images as you like, you need to let

:20:59. > :21:05.your trainer dry overnight. Once dry, rub a damp cloth over the

:21:05. > :21:09.images. You will start to see your images imaginically appear. Check

:21:09. > :21:13.that out! All you need to do is repeat the

:21:13. > :21:17.same process for the other pictures. Once yours is done, yours will

:21:17. > :21:21.probably look like this. It is cool, isn't it? You can step your style

:21:21. > :21:30.up a notch by adding text, pictures or beads to your laces.

:21:30. > :21:34.No one is going to have trainers Our next up and coming designer is

:21:34. > :21:38.a London College of Fashion graduate. Her trainer trend is

:21:38. > :21:48.about tagging your togs, you need to start by choosing a pattern.

:21:48. > :21:49.

:21:50. > :21:54.Draw it on to CAD and cut it out. Place your your your stencil and

:21:54. > :21:58.using a pen, dot around it. Keep going with your shapes, until the

:21:58. > :22:04.trainer is covered. You can sketch any shape you like.

:22:04. > :22:09.Once you have finished, it is time to add your bling. Get a parent to

:22:09. > :22:13.help you glue on sparkically beads. Take a few in your fingers like so

:22:14. > :22:22.and very carefully just just drop them down on to the trainer.

:22:22. > :22:25.Now all that's left to do is to leave your dazzling shoe to say dry.

:22:25. > :22:30.-- shoes to dry. Hopefully, you should end up with

:22:30. > :22:33.something like this. Your third and final fashion guru

:22:33. > :22:38.is Tinchy Stryder. He loves trainers and he is ready to show

:22:38. > :22:42.you how to splat your style on your sneakers.

:22:42. > :22:48.Get a real colourful look and grab the attention of your friends. Take

:22:48. > :22:52.out the the lace. You have got a bit of tape and seal around. You

:22:52. > :22:59.don't want paint getting around. Once you have finished putting the

:22:59. > :23:02.tape, it should look like this. This is where you get creative.

:23:02. > :23:08.Tinchy's trainer art is about splatting fabric paint.

:23:08. > :23:12.It doesn't matter what it looks like. You can't go wrong. Get your
