:00:14. > :00:18.It's the last show of the series. And my last one ever. And the last

:00:18. > :00:22.time you will ever see Blue Peter here at Television Centre because

:00:22. > :00:25.we are moving home. We have got a great show, Diversity in the house

:00:25. > :00:30.and, would you believe it, we are going to attempt to break a world

:00:30. > :00:40.record. So many reasons to celebrate. So many reasons to keep

:00:40. > :00:45.

:00:45. > :00:50.Hello. What is happening? Today's show is crammed with great people

:00:50. > :00:54.and phenomenal guests, including these guys, Hoop La La. What is

:00:54. > :00:59.going on? They'll have hundreds of people in a Spain later on. Saying

:00:59. > :01:04.no more. Your tunes will be on your chests when you see these guys,

:01:04. > :01:10.it's Diversity. Thanks for coming in, guys. Those guys are cool.

:01:10. > :01:13.still look like my dad when you do that! It's amazing what they do.

:01:13. > :01:20.are going to start the show with a Big Bang. We have some people to

:01:20. > :01:30.help us. Taupt to meet them? Here they are. Hello! Do you want to

:01:30. > :01:34.

:01:34. > :01:39.Raucous. Good job we have a cracking show for you. We have to

:01:39. > :01:42.show them a challenge. You have seen me become a world record

:01:42. > :01:47.breaker, I quite like that. But this last challenge we thought we'd

:01:47. > :01:52.do and it included me taking on my biggest rival, Helen Skelton, the

:01:52. > :01:57.most competitive woman in the world. True. For this, you would need

:01:57. > :02:07.ingenuity, skill, and most of all, some speed.

:02:07. > :02:15.Came from a land far, far away. From a different time. How we got

:02:15. > :02:19.here... Nobody knows. Well actually, he came from France. Yesterday. On

:02:20. > :02:28.a plane. Barney! Do you not see what we are trying to do here,

:02:28. > :02:32.Barney, we are trying to build him up. He's still the coolest guy in a

:02:32. > :02:36.roller suit. Rollerman was born in 1985. He's travelled all around the

:02:36. > :02:46.world searching for the best downhill roads in his need for

:02:46. > :02:48.

:02:48. > :02:54.Look at this man. This is ridiculous. You are like a

:02:54. > :03:02.transformer. Hello. Bonjour. Wow. Where on earth did you come up with

:03:02. > :03:07.the idea for this suit? I made industrial suit. How fast can you

:03:07. > :03:11.go? On the open road, 70mph. That's as quick as the national speed in

:03:11. > :03:15.this country. You are going extremely fast low to the road. Do

:03:15. > :03:21.you ever get scared? It's scary but it's good because it helps you to

:03:21. > :03:26.take no risks because you take behaviour to avoid the accident.

:03:26. > :03:29.you need to concentrate. We are here to see if man can beat machine

:03:29. > :03:35.in a speed challenge. Sounds interesting.

:03:35. > :03:39.One of us will be in a car, racing Rollerman on a track normally

:03:39. > :03:44.reserved for supercars, but before we could take him on, he wanted us

:03:44. > :03:51.to be Rollerman. Why not try on the suit and get the sensation of being

:03:51. > :03:57.Rollerman? I would love to try it but my knee's still bad but you two

:03:57. > :04:02.condition. Can't wait to see who this. To see who will race

:04:02. > :04:06.Rollerman, Helen and Andy g go head-to-head against the clock on

:04:06. > :04:13.this obstacle course. Before that, they have to transform and learn

:04:13. > :04:17.the way of the Rollerman. Now you are set. Looking good. The

:04:17. > :04:22.contact with the world now is with wheels. You have new abilities.

:04:22. > :04:30.Nice. Very nice! That's good. was so much fun. I really like this.

:04:30. > :04:34.That wasn't that great, was it? Go ahead. You have so much armour

:04:34. > :04:44.on, you can't worry about hurting yourself because you have so much

:04:44. > :04:50.

:04:50. > :04:58.on. Famous last words, you can't Look at him go. Legendary. Argh,

:04:58. > :05:04.get in! Yahoo. Nice, good. Good student, I

:05:04. > :05:09.like it. With training over, it's time for the Rollerman obstacle

:05:09. > :05:11.course. This is where the race starts, they'll need a good run and

:05:11. > :05:15.launch to give themselvess the best speed possible. This is a race

:05:15. > :05:21.against the clock. They drop into the low zone, through the cones,

:05:21. > :05:25.hard left, hard right, cruising over the finish line. This race is

:05:25. > :05:30.going to be quite good. I think Skelton's got something under her

:05:30. > :05:36.hat. Can't wait to see it. This is possibly the last time I'll work

:05:36. > :05:39.with Andy, but it's the first time I don't mind if I don't win.

:05:39. > :05:44.think Helen's realised that Andy is a natural at this, so that whole, I

:05:44. > :05:48.don't want to win any more, I think she does and always will do, I

:05:48. > :05:55.think she might have spotted that she has potential here to be beaten

:05:55. > :06:03.at something which is very unusual for Helen Skelton.

:06:03. > :06:08.Time starts in three, two, one... They're off to a flying start

:06:08. > :06:14.gliding into the first bend, Helen. Roller boy Andy launches himself

:06:14. > :06:20.into the course and he's cruising. Helen's down the ramp, up and over.

:06:20. > :06:25.Beautiful. Here comes Andy. Getting some air! Now he's just showing off.

:06:25. > :06:29.It's going to be close. Helen's grind to a halt. She's up, up,

:06:29. > :06:33.she's down. That's got to hurt! Here comes Andy to the finish line

:06:33. > :06:43.and stop the clock. It was close, but who is going to race Rollerman?

:06:43. > :06:46.Girl or boy? How did they do? did will, she was a bit stuck. She

:06:46. > :06:56.started again, good fighter. I think he was quite smooth, really

:06:56. > :07:02.fast there. I have the official times. Helen, 35 seconds. En That's

:07:02. > :07:07.not bad. Andy, 30... No, no, 19 seconds. There we go, you're the

:07:07. > :07:13.man! Well done, Andy. Give me some of

:07:13. > :07:16.that, see that! Andy will take on Rollerman in the Blue Peter car.

:07:17. > :07:26.Later in the show, you will see what happens when man takes on

:07:27. > :07:28.

:07:28. > :07:33.I Even got that scary eye stare going on. The question on

:07:33. > :07:39.everyone's lips is, who is going to win, Andy or Rollerman? What do you

:07:39. > :07:43.think, Mia? Andy. We like the confidence. Keep watching to see

:07:43. > :07:46.who wins. We are moving house. We are leaving London and heading

:07:46. > :07:50.north to Salford near Manchester. We are moving into a brand-new

:07:50. > :07:54.studio which gives us a whole new set of toys to play with, so it's

:07:54. > :07:57.exciting but it means that we have to say goodbye to some very, very

:07:57. > :08:01.dear friends. The crew here at Blue Peter are some of the nicest and

:08:01. > :08:07.best in the business and they have made some really magical moments

:08:07. > :08:11.here at Television Centre. Let's cast our minds back and enjoy them.

:08:11. > :08:17.BBC Television Centre, our home for over 50 years. We've enjoyed making

:08:17. > :08:23.an entrance. We've landed choppers, flown on

:08:23. > :08:29.broomsticks, steamed in, beamed in, dropped in, liked it so much we

:08:29. > :08:32.only did it again. Occasionally, we've put our feet up, but we like

:08:32. > :08:37.jumping around too much. We have burst through banners, shopped

:08:37. > :08:41.around. Almost avoided mowing anything down. Our monster trucks

:08:41. > :08:45.have been mighty, buses heighty and even borrowed the batmobile. That's

:08:45. > :08:48.just to get into the studio! don't always come to work on the

:08:48. > :08:55.toilet. Although I think it could catch on.

:08:56. > :09:04.There have been scary moments. Barking mad moments. Argh... Whoops

:09:04. > :09:09.And some amazing stunts along the way. Being a competitive lot, we've

:09:09. > :09:13.held a few races, but we haven't taken ourselves too seriously.

:09:13. > :09:18.Getting some funny looks running around here. Unless we have been

:09:18. > :09:22.smashing world records, that is. We've snaked our way through

:09:22. > :09:31.Television Centre, no area has been out of bounds. They're at this very

:09:31. > :09:35.moment right above me here on the top of the roof of our studio.

:09:35. > :09:40.We've had a go at directing, you've seen all around the studio, and

:09:40. > :09:44.you've been with us every step of the way. It's been an amazing,

:09:44. > :09:49.unforgettable journey at BBC Television Centre. This place we've

:09:49. > :09:53.called home. I bet if you watched that with your

:09:53. > :09:57.parents or someone, they'd probably say, I remember when they did that.

:09:57. > :10:02.We want to create another iconic moment here today.

:10:02. > :10:07.This is why we are in the heart of the BBC Television Centre. This

:10:07. > :10:11.area is called the Donut. Why? Because it's ring-shaped. We have

:10:11. > :10:21.had an idea for the next feat. It's a big idea and the last one we'll

:10:21. > :10:36.

:10:36. > :10:41.have here at Television Centre. Oh, my goodness. That's how you do

:10:41. > :10:45.it! Hoop La La, everybody. Impressive. I'll try that leg thing

:10:45. > :10:48.later on. You have trained in a circus school, been on Britain's

:10:49. > :10:54.Got Talent. You are here to help us break a world record. Tell us about

:10:54. > :10:57.it? For the most people dancing with a hula-hoop. Let's welcome our

:10:58. > :11:07.friends from Guinness World Records. What does the record currently

:11:08. > :11:11.

:11:11. > :11:16.stand at? 342. So we need hundreds of people. Fantastic. That should

:11:16. > :11:19.just about do it. Let's talk about the rules, please. We need two

:11:19. > :11:23.minutes on the clock at least with music, everyone must begin together

:11:23. > :11:26.at the same time and everyone must spin simultaneously. If someone

:11:26. > :11:31.drops their hoop, they must immediately pick it up and continue

:11:31. > :11:35.to rotate and spin. If not, they will be disqualified. So you have

:11:36. > :11:44.people dotted around, we'll watch tofrb see they don't break the

:11:44. > :11:51.rules, if they do, the record doesn't happen. Yes. We have 436

:11:51. > :11:55.people here to make the record. Did you hear, that -- hear that, you

:11:55. > :11:59.are being watched. Zac, since you have been practising, have you

:11:59. > :12:03.dropped the hoop yet? Sometimes I do, but most of the time I'm not.

:12:03. > :12:08.Feeling confident? Yes. All right. David, do you think you can do this,

:12:08. > :12:13.do you think this is feasible? well hopefully I won't drop it and

:12:13. > :12:17.I'll try my best to break the record. What is the hardest bit, do

:12:17. > :12:21.you reckon? When you have to levitate with the hoop over your

:12:21. > :12:25.head then spin it around. Then you bring it back up.

:12:25. > :12:29.Very difficult. Over to you, Helen. Television presenters past and

:12:29. > :12:34.present will be part of this record attempt. Ed, Ian, hello. You are in

:12:34. > :12:39.my team, you are going to be good at this, aren't you? I'm all right,

:12:39. > :12:46.dad said I'm pretty terrible and this is like awful coordination.

:12:46. > :12:52.He's good with the round the waist thing. With what?! Maybe not.

:12:52. > :12:56.two practise. Ladies, Diane and Anthea. Previous Blue Peter

:12:56. > :13:01.presenters. All right there? We are so loving this. When we found out

:13:01. > :13:05.this was the last day at TV Centre and you were hoo la hooping, we had

:13:05. > :13:08.to be here. I'm going to take a risk here and do this. Sorry, that

:13:08. > :13:15.wasn't meant to happen. How are your skills? Not so good. All right

:13:15. > :13:19.with my hands, rubbish on my waist but Diane's been training me.

:13:19. > :13:23.taught her everything she knew on this show which is about this much.

:13:23. > :13:27.Get practising, team, we've got a record to break. Hoop La La are

:13:27. > :13:33.ready to lead us. Judges, are you ready to adjudicate us? We are

:13:33. > :13:43.indeed. You lot ready? ALL: Yeah! Two minutes on the clock. Three,

:13:43. > :13:44.

:13:44. > :15:46.Apology for the loss of subtitles for 122 seconds

:15:46. > :15:53.two, one... KLAXON SOUNDS

:15:53. > :15:57.APPLAUSE I love this show! Now that is how

:15:57. > :16:03.you attempt to break a world record. We know we started with 436 people.

:16:03. > :16:09.The question is, how many of those people actually stuck to the rules

:16:09. > :16:13.and led us towards a world record? When you stare at me like that, I

:16:13. > :16:19.get scared. The current record to beat was 342. We disqualified

:16:19. > :16:23.people. That included ten people. Including Andy. OK. It was

:16:23. > :16:33.disgraceful. That means that the new tally and the total achieved

:16:33. > :16:39.

:16:39. > :16:43.today is 426, it's a new record! That is what we do so well! A new

:16:43. > :16:46.world record for Blue Peter, the last one we are setting here at

:16:46. > :16:51.Television Centre. You are record holders! Well done.

:16:51. > :16:56.Left you hanging. Now time from one challenge to go to another. Let's

:16:56. > :16:58.see how I got on when I took on Rollerman, this time it's man

:16:58. > :17:03.versus machine. Earlier in the programme, you saw

:17:03. > :17:07.Helen and Andy transform into roller girl and roller boy. Andy

:17:07. > :17:11.won possibly the strangest race Blue Peter's ever seen.

:17:11. > :17:15.I'm the one that's going to get to race Rollerman. I'm going to be

:17:15. > :17:22.driving the Blue Peter car in a man versus machine challenge.

:17:22. > :17:25.So, we are here at a speed hill climb track for a race with a

:17:25. > :17:30.difference. This is one of the oldest forms of

:17:30. > :17:34.motor sports. It's fast, furious and highly dangerous. It's speed

:17:34. > :17:39.hill climbing, simple. Climbing a hill in a car at high speed. The

:17:39. > :17:48.track is designed to be driven uphill, but Rollerman reckons he

:17:48. > :17:52.can go down this 700 metre course faster than I can go up it in a car.

:17:52. > :18:02.It's my race but Helen and Barney couldn't resist a test-drive with

:18:02. > :18:11.

:18:11. > :18:17.That's tight. It's never going to get up there. Whoa. He doesn't

:18:17. > :18:21.mention it, but he's had a racing lesson. He's told me all about it.

:18:21. > :18:25.He's raced at Brands Hatch, but he likes to keep it under his hat.

:18:25. > :18:35.That's what I'm talking about. Bring it on, Rollerman, bring it on.

:18:35. > :18:37.

:18:37. > :18:47.Dude, start her up. Best of luck. Come on, Andy. Ready?! A wheel spin

:18:47. > :18:50.

:18:50. > :19:00.off the line. Come on! Come on, push it through. Come on. Come on.

:19:00. > :19:04.

:19:04. > :19:08.Come on. Here we go. Second. No, that's not good enough. Argh...

:19:08. > :19:14.Don't know if I've done it. Really don't know if I've done it there.

:19:14. > :19:20.After an incredible race,, the question is, did man beat machine.

:19:20. > :19:28.I can reveal that you completed the course in 47 seconds, Rollerman.

:19:28. > :19:37.Wow. That's man. What about machine? You did it in 41 seconds.

:19:37. > :19:40.Get in! Challenge complete. Massive. I beat Rollerman. We never had any

:19:40. > :19:44.doubt in our minds. What a final challenge, well done. Thank you

:19:44. > :19:47.very much. Now to something else, we give a gold badge to someone

:19:47. > :19:50.who's achieved something eextremely extraordinary, it's our highest

:19:51. > :19:55.accolade, you can't just get one, you know what I mean. We heard

:19:55. > :19:59.about this young man, George, and he achieved something that was

:19:59. > :20:04.absolutely phenomenal. And naturally, we had to go and pay him

:20:04. > :20:11.a little visit. The seventh summit, the highest mountains of each of

:20:11. > :20:15.the world's seven continents. Climbing them all is the ultimate

:20:15. > :20:25.mountaineering goal, which few have achieved. George Atkinson's become

:20:25. > :20:35.

:20:35. > :20:39.the youngest person in the world to Against all odds, George did them

:20:39. > :20:43.by the time he was 16, now, he thinks I'm here to have a little

:20:43. > :20:47.chat with him. I'm really here to give him one of these, a gold Blue

:20:47. > :20:53.Peter badge, I think he deserves it. George, you are the man, how are

:20:53. > :20:57.you? I'm good. You did Everest. Fantastic. How long did it take

:20:57. > :21:01.you? The whole expedition took us about two whole months and it was

:21:01. > :21:04.the longest one for me, you have to wait around a lot for a good

:21:04. > :21:08.weather window and the lack of oxygen. It's difficult since you

:21:08. > :21:12.carry a lot as well. Were there any moments when you thought you wanted

:21:12. > :21:15.to turn back? When I came to the hardest part of the climb, the

:21:15. > :21:19.second step, I decided that this was going to get really serious

:21:19. > :21:22.from now on since this part was incredibly tough to go. Rock

:21:23. > :21:26.climbing essentially in the dark. That was pretty hard. I want to

:21:26. > :21:31.race you to the top of that, right, and if you beat me, which you

:21:31. > :21:41.probably will, there's a little prize in store for you. Are you up

:21:41. > :21:49.

:21:49. > :21:54.for this? Sounds fair. Let's do He's won. I'm kind of there... Can

:21:55. > :21:59.I get down now, please? Fair enough, fair enough. You did beat me, I

:21:59. > :22:04.kind of knew that anyway. You know I said I'd give you a prize, I came

:22:04. > :22:10.here to award you a gold Blue Peter badge. We don't give these to many

:22:10. > :22:13.people, but No, I know. What you've done is pretty extraordinary so we

:22:13. > :22:17.thought we'd give you one. Thank you very much. If you put your mind

:22:17. > :22:21.to something, you can do it. You are a living example. Well done,

:22:21. > :22:26.chief. Couldn't have said it better myself. Strength, determination,

:22:26. > :22:29.courage, but most of all the will to succeed and overcome their

:22:29. > :22:34.biggest challenge, which is why we think somebody else deserves a gold

:22:34. > :22:38.Blue Peter badge. Andy. You are kidding me. There's your badge and

:22:38. > :22:41.you have more than earned it. man, this is ace. Absolutely gutted

:22:41. > :22:47.to be saying goodbye to you. Thank you very much. I don't know what to

:22:47. > :22:51.say, like, it's been a phenomenal five years. And, I mean, it's been

:22:51. > :22:55.full of some great experiences. I look back at the 50th celebration

:22:55. > :22:58.when we met the Queen and I introduced the Queen to every

:22:58. > :23:02.single Blue Peter presenter past and present. You know, it was just

:23:02. > :23:06.a great occasion. Then something I think Blue Peter does so well, are

:23:06. > :23:09.the Blue Peter appeals, you know. We go into these communities and we

:23:09. > :23:13.try and do something to help them and it's all down to the viewers as

:23:13. > :23:19.well because it's whatever they contribute that helps these

:23:19. > :23:22.families, it was brilliant. Absolutely loved it. Then obviously,

:23:22. > :23:27.you mean some phenomenal people. Very inspirational people, from

:23:27. > :23:31.Lewis Hamilton to the world's fastest man, Usain Bolt! Went to

:23:32. > :23:35.Jamaica to meet Usain Bolt. I mean, how on earth would you get to do

:23:35. > :23:39.that on any other programme just because you want to and because you

:23:39. > :23:44.really like someone. Finally, the challenges we do. I mean, like

:23:44. > :23:50.every Blue Peter has to earn their stripes doing their challenges.

:23:50. > :23:54.Racing, skydiving, then the one I'm most proud of is my swimming. Swam
