0:00:05 > 0:00:08On today's show, we're going to have our minds read. I'm not.

0:00:08 > 0:00:10He's not getting through these. Yes, same.

0:00:10 > 0:00:13He'll never get through this. Doesn't matter.

0:00:13 > 0:00:15Anyway, nobody actually knows what you are thinking.

0:00:15 > 0:00:18The wee cup of tea that you were thinking about, Radzi. Oh, thanks.

0:00:18 > 0:00:19How did he know?

0:00:36 > 0:00:38CHEERING

0:00:38 > 0:00:41Hello. How are you doing?

0:00:41 > 0:00:45We're having a Bonfire Night party in the studio. I'm writing my name.

0:00:45 > 0:00:49You're doing a great job. Lindsey is back. Yay!

0:00:49 > 0:00:52I'm so happy to be back. I missed you two.

0:00:52 > 0:00:56We had a great time without you, to be honest. Hey! I'm only kidding.

0:00:56 > 0:00:59Stop it. We've got an amazing fireworks display

0:00:59 > 0:01:00by the British champions, no less.

0:01:00 > 0:01:03I get involved setting up... well, an even more special display

0:01:03 > 0:01:05which you'll see later on in the show. That is so cool.

0:01:05 > 0:01:09We're going to be catching up with our Autumnwatch buddies and they're

0:01:09 > 0:01:13going to be telling us what's coming up later on Autumnwatch. Can't wait.

0:01:13 > 0:01:15It's also the next part in my gymnastics challenge

0:01:15 > 0:01:18when I get to meet some inspired tumblers and get my fitness

0:01:18 > 0:01:21put to the test. Make sure you're watching then.

0:01:21 > 0:01:25But, first, though, "Remember, remember, the 5th..."

0:01:25 > 0:01:28Have you forgotten? Yeah. It's November. Ah!

0:01:28 > 0:01:32Don't worry, Radz, fear not, because here to talk all things memory

0:01:32 > 0:01:35and mind-reading is Colin Cloud.

0:01:35 > 0:01:40There he is. Hello, Colin. Welcome to the show. Please take a seat.

0:01:40 > 0:01:43Thank you very much, guys. So, Colin, life must be good.

0:01:43 > 0:01:45You're on your solo mind-reading tour.

0:01:45 > 0:01:47You're in The Illusionist on the London stage. I am.

0:01:47 > 0:01:49But, if you are really a mind-reader,

0:01:49 > 0:01:52what am I thinking right now? Right, it doesn't quite work like that.

0:01:52 > 0:01:55It's more about me getting people to give off information without them

0:01:55 > 0:01:58being aware they're even doing it. Wow!

0:01:58 > 0:02:01Now, this is quite strange to us because we normally have an earpiece

0:02:01 > 0:02:04in our ears with the producers telling us what's coming up next.

0:02:04 > 0:02:07They've cut us off completely because you want us to not be able

0:02:07 > 0:02:09to hear anything for what you're going to demonstrate.

0:02:09 > 0:02:11Yes, it's easier for me sometimes

0:02:11 > 0:02:13to show you what it is I do than try to explain it.

0:02:13 > 0:02:16It's not psychic, it's very much a mix of mind magic

0:02:16 > 0:02:19and brain science to get you to give this off. What I'd love you to do...

0:02:19 > 0:02:22We'll do it quite quick, so I might not be accurate with all of you

0:02:22 > 0:02:25but I'll be as quick as I can. Could you please think about... Don't say.

0:02:25 > 0:02:29..a celebrity that most people would know or a place in the world.

0:02:29 > 0:02:32Think about a memory, not anything you put out on social media,

0:02:32 > 0:02:35nothing you've written about anywhere. Something only I know?

0:02:35 > 0:02:38Only you know, yes, and could you please for us, Lindsey,

0:02:38 > 0:02:40think about a thing you would love to do with Blue Peter. OK.

0:02:40 > 0:02:43That you haven't done yet, but say nothing out loud. OK.

0:02:43 > 0:02:45We'll start with you. Hold your hands out. Yeah.

0:02:45 > 0:02:47Face me and imagine there's a computer keyboard right here.

0:02:47 > 0:02:49Don't move your fingers, focus on just

0:02:49 > 0:02:52the name of the celebrity, whoever it is in your mind.

0:02:52 > 0:02:54You've never told me who this person is. Never, no.

0:02:54 > 0:02:56Think about them right now. Focus on the last name.

0:02:56 > 0:02:59Imagine typing the first letter. Don't move your fingers.

0:02:59 > 0:03:03Imagine typing the second letter. Was that an R? The second name.

0:03:03 > 0:03:07Is it an R, the second letter? It's got an R in the last name.

0:03:07 > 0:03:10That's perfect. Go to near the end. It's quite a long...

0:03:10 > 0:03:13Eight letters in the surname.

0:03:13 > 0:03:17What?! Yes. Yes. Surname. Was it Grimshaw? Oh-h!

0:03:17 > 0:03:23It was. Hey! No! Behave yourself!

0:03:23 > 0:03:25It must be Nick Grimshaw, yes?

0:03:25 > 0:03:29Oh, my goodness! Yes. How? That's so genuine because we had no idea

0:03:29 > 0:03:32what you were going to do. Yes, he did.

0:03:32 > 0:03:34I'll tell you what, we'll try very quickly with yourself.

0:03:34 > 0:03:38You've got something in mind that you would love to do

0:03:38 > 0:03:42with Blue Peter, yes? It's made up. Made up, perfect, so...

0:03:42 > 0:03:45Put your hands up like this. Put your hands over my eyes.

0:03:45 > 0:03:47Lindsey, if there's any part...

0:03:47 > 0:03:48You don't know this is coming up.

0:03:48 > 0:03:51Any part of what you're picturing in your mind,

0:03:51 > 0:03:53could you imagine any part of it you could act out?

0:03:53 > 0:03:55Act it out now.

0:03:55 > 0:03:57As quickly as you can without even thinking.

0:03:57 > 0:03:58Just imagine acting it out.

0:03:58 > 0:04:00And just say done when you've done that.

0:04:00 > 0:04:04I know I'm putting you on the spot. OK. Done. OK, put your hands down.

0:04:04 > 0:04:06So, OK, at this is good. I saw the end of that.

0:04:06 > 0:04:09You reacted like that kind of makes sense but not really

0:04:09 > 0:04:10and you didn't stand up, you sat down,

0:04:10 > 0:04:14so you're now putting your hands here as well. What am I doing?

0:04:14 > 0:04:17So your hands were out like this, something like this. Yes.

0:04:17 > 0:04:20And you sat forward, so this motion or movement involved and it's

0:04:20 > 0:04:23something you want to do with Blue Peter, Blue Peter orientated.

0:04:23 > 0:04:25Is it parachuting? Yes.

0:04:25 > 0:04:27But you were thinking about someone specific as well. Stop it.

0:04:27 > 0:04:29Is that right? Yeah.

0:04:29 > 0:04:32Tell me, what's your favourite genre of movie?

0:04:32 > 0:04:37What type of movies do you like to watch? I suppose... Beyonce.

0:04:37 > 0:04:41Shut up! I wrote this down earlier. You're kidding.

0:04:41 > 0:04:44You got me to write this. Parachute with Beyonce.

0:04:44 > 0:04:47And that's exactly what you are thinking? Yes.

0:04:47 > 0:04:48And you didn't tell me this.

0:04:48 > 0:04:51How did you know that? Do we have time to do one more thing

0:04:51 > 0:04:53with Barney? Stop it. You've got a memory in mind, yes?

0:04:53 > 0:04:56You guys all know each other incredibly well.

0:04:56 > 0:04:57You guys are going to interrogate Barney.

0:04:57 > 0:05:00They don't know this story. It happened before I met them.

0:05:00 > 0:05:02I'm going to ask you to keep saying the word yes.

0:05:02 > 0:05:04You guys are going to ask any questions.

0:05:04 > 0:05:06You just keep saying the word yes.

0:05:06 > 0:05:08Even if it's a lie, keep saying the word yes.

0:05:08 > 0:05:11So you guys just ask him a random question about the memory.

0:05:11 > 0:05:14So yes regardless of what they ask. Were you a child? Yes.

0:05:14 > 0:05:19Was it in the garden? No. Oh, sorry, yes. Good. It's hard, right?

0:05:19 > 0:05:22Keep saying yes. Was it a painful experience? Yes.

0:05:22 > 0:05:26Is it to do with some kind of sport or physical activity? Yes.

0:05:26 > 0:05:29One more question each. Good. Does it involve a bike? Yes.

0:05:29 > 0:05:33Interesting. One more question. Is your family involved? Yes.

0:05:33 > 0:05:35OK, so it's not family. But when you said bike,

0:05:35 > 0:05:38you kind of looked down like it was a bike but not a bike exactly.

0:05:38 > 0:05:40Is that right? Something like a bike?

0:05:40 > 0:05:43And I still saying yes? You can answer truthfully now. Yes.

0:05:43 > 0:05:46OK, so I might not get that right. Is there a friend?

0:05:46 > 0:05:49She said family, but it's not family, it's just a friend.

0:05:49 > 0:05:53Yes, one person. Yes. Um... Focus on their name.

0:05:53 > 0:05:56You're thinking nickname. You bit your lip there. Get lost!

0:05:56 > 0:05:58Focus on just the first letter of the name.

0:05:58 > 0:06:03Keep saying yes. Is it an A, the first letter an A? Yes. B? Yes.

0:06:03 > 0:06:09C? Yes. D? Yes. Oh, back up there, it's D. Is it D?

0:06:09 > 0:06:10It's not a bicycle,

0:06:10 > 0:06:13but it's some kind of little digger or some kind of thing

0:06:13 > 0:06:17you're riding about and it's not David, it's a nickname.

0:06:17 > 0:06:21Duck. How close am I? That's as close as I'm going to get,

0:06:21 > 0:06:23but you guys did all the questioning so well done, you.

0:06:23 > 0:06:28My best meet at school was called Ducky and I was riding a trike.

0:06:28 > 0:06:32Oh, you said bike, you were so close. That's amazing.

0:06:32 > 0:06:34That's absolutely...

0:06:34 > 0:06:36Colin, you are amazing and to prove how amazing you are,

0:06:36 > 0:06:39you are going to set Radzi a challenge today, aren't you? Yes.

0:06:39 > 0:06:41You think anyone can kind of improve their memory.

0:06:41 > 0:06:44Absolutely. So we're going to test that with Radzi now.

0:06:44 > 0:06:46You're going to go outside. We've got 20 items lined up.

0:06:46 > 0:06:49Look at Barney's face. Barney's in shock so I'll do this bit.

0:06:49 > 0:06:52We've got 20 items lined up. You're going to go and memorise them, Radz.

0:06:52 > 0:06:54And we're going to test you at the end of the show.

0:06:54 > 0:06:57You know Barney never gets speechless. Let's do it.

0:06:57 > 0:06:59Go and do your challenge. That was amazing.

0:06:59 > 0:07:02You should believe that you're able to do this, because if you

0:07:02 > 0:07:04put stress on your brain,

0:07:04 > 0:07:06it's going to clam up and this will not work. OK.

0:07:06 > 0:07:11You need to relax, that's so crucial here. And we will start.

0:07:11 > 0:07:14It's quite straightforward. Look at all these!

0:07:14 > 0:07:19So the first object we have here is a crown. Yes. This is number one.

0:07:19 > 0:07:22Now, when you think one, one sounds like the word sun.

0:07:22 > 0:07:24One and sun, they sound similar. You with me? Yes.

0:07:24 > 0:07:27So now when you look up to the sky, you think one sun.

0:07:27 > 0:07:31You look up at the sky, instead of the sun, you now see a crown. OK.

0:07:31 > 0:07:33So if you can count to one, look at the sun,

0:07:33 > 0:07:36you've now got crown stuck in your head. Yes, I do. Easy with one.

0:07:36 > 0:07:38What we're going to do is not just one object,

0:07:38 > 0:07:43we're going to do it with all of these objects. Hang on.

0:07:43 > 0:07:46Colin, how long do I have to remember these? You have ten minutes.

0:07:46 > 0:07:48That's not long at all. It really is not.

0:07:48 > 0:07:50Shall we get cracking? Let's go for it.

0:07:50 > 0:07:52Barney, Lindsey, it's over to you.

0:07:52 > 0:07:54We don't... We can't believe it.

0:07:54 > 0:07:56Anyway, while Radzi's out there training his brain,

0:07:56 > 0:07:59we can talk to you about when he was training his body recently.

0:07:59 > 0:08:02He's got a gymnastic challenge and today he's got some expert help.

0:08:02 > 0:08:05Have a watch. I don't what to say. That was ridiculous, ridiculous.

0:08:06 > 0:08:09'I'm preparing for my latest big Blue Peter challenge

0:08:09 > 0:08:12'to perform a floor routine here in Glasgow

0:08:12 > 0:08:15'at the World Gymnastics Championships

0:08:15 > 0:08:17'in front of 6,000 people.'

0:08:17 > 0:08:19You've genuinely got me excited.

0:08:19 > 0:08:23After being set my challenge by a British gymnastic superstar, I am now

0:08:23 > 0:08:28well into my training with my coach Rob Payne and he is pushing me hard.

0:08:28 > 0:08:29Good lad.

0:08:29 > 0:08:34He knows just how far I have to go before I'm ready for my performance

0:08:34 > 0:08:36and he wants me to understand too.

0:08:36 > 0:08:39So, to help me find out exactly how well I'm doing,

0:08:39 > 0:08:42plus allow me to see just how I measure up against the guys

0:08:42 > 0:08:45who will actually be competing in Glasgow,

0:08:45 > 0:08:48I've come to a very special place indeed.

0:08:48 > 0:08:55Welcome to the English Institute of Sport in Lilleshall.

0:08:55 > 0:08:57one of whom is this guy,

0:08:57 > 0:09:02Kristian Thomas, holder of Olympic bronze and Commonwealth gold medals.

0:09:02 > 0:09:05He knows exactly what it takes to be an elite athlete.

0:09:06 > 0:09:08How difficult is the training?

0:09:08 > 0:09:12To get to a level of being able to do 30 hours in the gym a week,

0:09:12 > 0:09:15it takes years and years and years of just gradual building up,

0:09:15 > 0:09:17so it is a tough sport to do, however it's also such

0:09:17 > 0:09:20an enjoyable sport to do, doing things that nobody else can do.

0:09:20 > 0:09:23What makes up the perfect gymnast?

0:09:23 > 0:09:27I'd probably say that'd be strength, flexibility, balance and also power

0:09:27 > 0:09:30are probably the most important aspects to being a gymnast.

0:09:30 > 0:09:34It's unbelievable. Seeing Christian get put through his paces,

0:09:34 > 0:09:36makes me realise just how far I'm off his level.

0:09:36 > 0:09:41And suddenly my challenge feels very real indeed.

0:09:41 > 0:09:45Gymnastics is a sport that anyone can get involved in,

0:09:45 > 0:09:47whatever your ability.

0:09:47 > 0:09:50But to see how I compare to the very best,

0:09:50 > 0:09:53Christian's coach Rudi has lined up some tests for me.

0:09:53 > 0:09:55The first measures strength.

0:09:56 > 0:09:58Leg strength is really important for a gymnast,

0:09:58 > 0:10:00especially on a floor exercise.

0:10:00 > 0:10:03It enables them to put maximum power into the tumbles

0:10:03 > 0:10:06so that they can fit in multiple twists and somersaults.

0:10:06 > 0:10:10To test my leg muscles, we're going to do a box jump.

0:10:10 > 0:10:13From a standing start, you jump as high as you can onto a box.

0:10:13 > 0:10:16And Christian is going to show me how it's done.

0:10:18 > 0:10:20Wow!

0:10:20 > 0:10:25He's just jumped 135 centimetres from a standstill.

0:10:25 > 0:10:27That's like jumping over a horse!

0:10:31 > 0:10:33Oh, well done.

0:10:33 > 0:10:37I managed to jump 105 centimetres. So my training is paying off.

0:10:37 > 0:10:39But when it comes to Christian's level,

0:10:39 > 0:10:41well, you can see for yourself.

0:10:41 > 0:10:44But how does this strength test help me with the floor routine

0:10:44 > 0:10:46I have to perform in a few months' time?

0:10:46 > 0:10:48The height these guys tumble at

0:10:48 > 0:10:51is because they can harness all the muscles at the right time,

0:10:51 > 0:10:54at the right speed. And I think that this helps to create

0:10:54 > 0:10:57that kind of action on the tumbling floor.

0:10:57 > 0:10:59But there's something else Rudi has spotted.

0:10:59 > 0:11:01And it's about my confidence.

0:11:01 > 0:11:03You looked at it and thought, "It looks a bit high."

0:11:03 > 0:11:05So challenge yourself, a bit more aggression

0:11:05 > 0:11:08and maybe you could be close to getting those toes on there.

0:11:08 > 0:11:12Thanks, Rudi. Now it's time for test number two - speed.

0:11:12 > 0:11:16So speed is really important, especially for the floor exercise.

0:11:16 > 0:11:18You need maximum amount of speed

0:11:18 > 0:11:21so that can then help us with the explosive tumbles.

0:11:21 > 0:11:24We're going to see how fast I can run over 20 metres,

0:11:24 > 0:11:26compared to Christian.

0:11:28 > 0:11:32My best is a respectable 3.43 seconds.

0:11:33 > 0:11:38But Christian's explosive legs cover the distance in just 3.01 seconds.

0:11:38 > 0:11:42And in competition, he'd be expected to go under three seconds.

0:11:44 > 0:11:47So what I like to see for you to get improvement

0:11:47 > 0:11:49is just to get those first couple of steps

0:11:49 > 0:11:51a little bit more dynamic, a little bit faster.

0:11:51 > 0:11:56So speed is vital for my routine. But we're not done yet.

0:11:56 > 0:11:59The last thing we need to look at is diet.

0:11:59 > 0:12:02Diet is really important to an elite-performing gymnast,

0:12:02 > 0:12:04because it helps the muscles recover when they're sore

0:12:04 > 0:12:06and it fuels the body for the day.

0:12:06 > 0:12:08And, as you might have guessed,

0:12:08 > 0:12:11mine isn't quite as healthy as Christian's.

0:12:11 > 0:12:14So I start off with a bowl of one of my favourite cereals here,

0:12:14 > 0:12:16which is chocolate covered.

0:12:16 > 0:12:18And then for a classic Radzi dinner,

0:12:18 > 0:12:22I've got lasagne here with a little bit of salad, to be fair.

0:12:22 > 0:12:24So I have got some eggs, some chicken here.

0:12:24 > 0:12:27I've got lots of vegetables.

0:12:27 > 0:12:29Dinner, I'd have something like fish.

0:12:29 > 0:12:32How much of a difference would having a diet

0:12:32 > 0:12:33much more like Christian's help me?

0:12:33 > 0:12:35Oh, it would definitely help your energy.

0:12:35 > 0:12:38It would help you train building up to that big day up in Glasgow.

0:12:38 > 0:12:41I'm sure, on the day, you want to perform to the best of your ability.

0:12:41 > 0:12:42Absolutely.

0:12:42 > 0:12:44And a very well-balanced diet will go a long way

0:12:44 > 0:12:46to help you achieving that.

0:12:46 > 0:12:48Loads of food for thought there.

0:12:52 > 0:12:57I've just got a few months to improve my strength, speed, confidence

0:12:57 > 0:13:00and diet if I'm to succeed at the World Championships.

0:13:00 > 0:13:02Will I be ready in time?

0:13:05 > 0:13:07This is Radzi. Of course he'll be ready in time.

0:13:07 > 0:13:08His body's definitely ready.

0:13:08 > 0:13:10What about his brain, though?

0:13:10 > 0:13:13Well, he's working on that at the moment out the back with Colin.

0:13:13 > 0:13:15How far has he got? That's ten items. He's got ten more to go.

0:13:15 > 0:13:18Quite good. But he's got to learn all 20 of those.

0:13:18 > 0:13:20They're really random, as well. That's a hard live test.

0:13:20 > 0:13:23It's not long before he's back in here for us to put him to the test.

0:13:23 > 0:13:24So good luck, Radzi. Let's head this way.

0:13:24 > 0:13:29Because next week it is, of course, our Children In Need Spectacular.

0:13:29 > 0:13:31We're so excited about it and we want you to get involved,

0:13:31 > 0:13:33because it's Blue Peter.

0:13:33 > 0:13:36So we need you to make your mask and make your mark.

0:13:36 > 0:13:38You've been cutting and sticking and gluing and pasting

0:13:38 > 0:13:40and doing all those lovely things to be creative.

0:13:40 > 0:13:43Lewis from Aberdeenshire has sent this mask in.

0:13:43 > 0:13:45It's a multicoloured, technicolour sort of mask. I love it.

0:13:45 > 0:13:47And to raise money for Children In Need,

0:13:47 > 0:13:50he's going to be washing relatives' cars. That's good.

0:13:50 > 0:13:52I'm sure his relatives will appreciate that.

0:13:52 > 0:13:55This is from Poppy, who's ten. She's sent in this one.

0:13:55 > 0:13:57It's glittery. It's fabulous.

0:13:57 > 0:14:00It's even got little feathers that shimmer.

0:14:00 > 0:14:03And she is going to be dressing and doing a crazy little dance-off.

0:14:03 > 0:14:06Amazing. I like the sound of that, Poppy. I hope you win.

0:14:06 > 0:14:08Now, a lot of people say the country is a really big place.

0:14:08 > 0:14:11It's not. We've got the entire country in our studio here.

0:14:11 > 0:14:12As you can see, full of spots.

0:14:12 > 0:14:15And that's because, when you send us one of your masks,

0:14:15 > 0:14:16we'll mark your spot with a dot.

0:14:16 > 0:14:19Now, we want this to be loads more spotty, don't we?

0:14:19 > 0:14:22So that means we need loads more hero masks.

0:14:22 > 0:14:24Maybe you can do them at school, send them in with your class,

0:14:24 > 0:14:26but you haven't got long. You need to do it ASAP.

0:14:26 > 0:14:30You've got until Thursday, 12 November. So maybe do it right now.

0:14:30 > 0:14:32Well, wait until after the show.

0:14:32 > 0:14:33And then get them into the post.

0:14:33 > 0:14:36Send them to us, because we want to feature them on our show. Don't we?

0:14:36 > 0:14:39We do. Speaking of heroes, Radzi is mine.

0:14:39 > 0:14:41He's been working so, so hard on this gymnastics challenge.

0:14:41 > 0:14:43But you know what? Even from time to time,

0:14:43 > 0:14:46Blue Peter presenters still need a bit of inspiration.

0:14:46 > 0:14:49My challenge to perform a floor routine

0:14:49 > 0:14:53at the World Gymnastic Championships in Glasgow is just weeks away.

0:14:53 > 0:14:55And I've been working really hard with my coach Rob

0:14:55 > 0:14:57to perfect my technique.

0:14:58 > 0:15:01Big effort in the warm-up.

0:15:01 > 0:15:02Keep nice and tight.

0:15:02 > 0:15:06But not only do I have to do a faultless routine,

0:15:06 > 0:15:09I have to do it in front of 6,000 people.

0:15:09 > 0:15:13So I need some advice on performing in front of large crowds.

0:15:13 > 0:15:17So who better to speak to than Blue Peter legend Matt Baker

0:15:17 > 0:15:20and gymnastics legend Beth Tweddle?

0:15:20 > 0:15:23You probably recognise Matt from presenting The One Show.

0:15:23 > 0:15:26But when he was younger, as well as being a Blue Peter presenter,

0:15:26 > 0:15:29he was also a junior British gymnast.

0:15:30 > 0:15:34And as for Beth, well, she's only the most successful British athlete

0:15:34 > 0:15:35in the history of the sport,

0:15:35 > 0:15:37winning European, World and Olympic medals.

0:15:39 > 0:15:40I've just got to start by asking,

0:15:40 > 0:15:44what is it actually like to perform in front of thousands of people?

0:15:44 > 0:15:46Every gymnast gets nervous.

0:15:46 > 0:15:49We look quite controlled and composed but, actually,

0:15:49 > 0:15:52our stomachs are doing a hundred somersaults.

0:15:52 > 0:15:54But once you step off onto that podium, you'll love it.

0:15:54 > 0:15:57When I'm training, I get that feeling of,

0:15:57 > 0:16:00"I can't do it. I just can't do it." Believe in yourself.

0:16:00 > 0:16:02Think about where you've come from and look at that progression

0:16:02 > 0:16:04and think, "You know what?

0:16:04 > 0:16:07"I've come this far. How far am I going to get in the next few weeks?"

0:16:07 > 0:16:10Well, guys, genuinely, it's been an absolute pleasure.

0:16:10 > 0:16:11And I'll see you in Glasgow.

0:16:13 > 0:16:15Those guys are legends.

0:16:15 > 0:16:18But I want to learn more about how I can improve my performance,

0:16:18 > 0:16:21so I've come to visit a very special project in London.

0:16:22 > 0:16:26The young people that come here specialise in acro tumble,

0:16:26 > 0:16:29a mixture of circus skills and gymnastics.

0:16:29 > 0:16:31The project is funded by Children In Need

0:16:31 > 0:16:33and it's a great way for young tumblers

0:16:33 > 0:16:35from the local area to meet up.

0:16:37 > 0:16:40What would you think if I were to do three moves and you were to judge me?

0:16:40 > 0:16:41ALL: Yeah!

0:16:41 > 0:16:44Thank you very much. Please, be kind.

0:16:44 > 0:16:46First up, the pike headstand.

0:16:51 > 0:16:53I hope you're impressed.

0:16:53 > 0:16:55They seem to be.

0:16:56 > 0:16:58Next, it's time to show off my balance.

0:16:58 > 0:17:02This looks quite simple, but it's surprisingly difficult.

0:17:06 > 0:17:10And this is a move I've sort of invented, so I hope you like it.

0:17:17 > 0:17:19So, what did they think?

0:17:19 > 0:17:22You looked like a swan that was, like, floating on water.

0:17:22 > 0:17:27Your posture was, like, straight and you balanced really well.

0:17:27 > 0:17:29The descent was clunky.

0:17:31 > 0:17:33Impressed? Well, almost.

0:17:33 > 0:17:35Now it's time for them to show me what they can do.

0:17:35 > 0:17:39Cartwheels, balance and some epic towers.

0:17:44 > 0:17:46These guys love what they do. They really enjoy it.

0:17:46 > 0:17:49And that is what I'm going to remember when I do my performance.

0:17:49 > 0:17:51I've got to enjoy it.

0:17:51 > 0:17:54The opportunities the young people get from this project

0:17:54 > 0:17:57wouldn't be possible without the support and funding

0:17:57 > 0:17:59from Children In Need.

0:17:59 > 0:18:01For those that come, it's an inspiring place.

0:18:01 > 0:18:06Its main focus is to bring young people together in a positive way

0:18:06 > 0:18:09and stop any feelings of loneliness.

0:18:09 > 0:18:12I love coming to meet my friends.

0:18:12 > 0:18:14It's given me confidence, as well.

0:18:14 > 0:18:16This is quite a busy area

0:18:16 > 0:18:19and it's good to be in a safe and secure place.

0:18:19 > 0:18:21Before, I used to be really quiet

0:18:21 > 0:18:23and I used to not speak to anyone.

0:18:23 > 0:18:24And now I talk too much!

0:18:25 > 0:18:28It does change your lives.

0:18:28 > 0:18:30It's a very good opportunity for us. It's a good experience.

0:18:30 > 0:18:32And we all thoroughly enjoy it

0:18:32 > 0:18:34and we'd like it if you can keep it going.

0:18:36 > 0:18:40The performers here have made me realise how important places

0:18:40 > 0:18:42like this are and how money raised by Children in Need

0:18:42 > 0:18:46can make such a big difference to people's lives.

0:18:46 > 0:18:48And now our finale.

0:18:48 > 0:18:50The human pyramid.

0:18:50 > 0:18:51Guys, high five?

0:18:51 > 0:18:52ALL: No!

0:18:53 > 0:18:56It's so nice to see the difference your money makes.

0:18:56 > 0:18:58Thank you so much for getting involved.

0:18:58 > 0:19:02Don't forget to keep sending your hero masks in. You know the address.

0:19:02 > 0:19:06I want to say a personal thank you to Robert Payne as well.

0:19:06 > 0:19:08You are a diamond.

0:19:08 > 0:19:11Radzi might have the body but does he have the brain?

0:19:11 > 0:19:14Please welcome Colin and Radzi back to the studio.

0:19:14 > 0:19:17APPLAUSE AND CHEERING

0:19:17 > 0:19:19OK. So, you were set a challenge

0:19:19 > 0:19:22to improve Radzi's memory in just ten minutes,

0:19:22 > 0:19:25and you have had to learn 20 items.

0:19:25 > 0:19:27You look confident?

0:19:27 > 0:19:30I don't know how I feel, because I have looked at 20 items.

0:19:30 > 0:19:32We will find out if I know then.

0:19:32 > 0:19:36We are going to use a top of the range deluxe number generator.

0:19:36 > 0:19:39It's a bowl with some ping-pong balls in.

0:19:39 > 0:19:44OK, the numbers, we're going to pick some out.

0:19:44 > 0:19:47You have to tell us what item corresponds to what number.

0:19:47 > 0:19:48Ready? Here we go.

0:19:48 > 0:19:51Your first number is 13.

0:19:51 > 0:19:5413 was a skirting board,

0:19:54 > 0:19:57and that has lots of sunglasses,

0:19:57 > 0:20:00which look like they belong to Elton John, because they have petals

0:20:00 > 0:20:02on the outside of the frames.

0:20:02 > 0:20:05Sunglasses with stuff on the frames.

0:20:05 > 0:20:07Let's see if you're right. Lindsey? Yes!

0:20:07 > 0:20:10Well played. First one down. Next one.

0:20:10 > 0:20:12The next number is number seven.

0:20:12 > 0:20:20Seven, I look up to heaven and I see angels, and they are all...

0:20:20 > 0:20:22Now, what are they doing?

0:20:22 > 0:20:23They are...

0:20:23 > 0:20:24Um...

0:20:24 > 0:20:27You said wearing. That's all I'm going to say.

0:20:27 > 0:20:30Yes. What are they wearing?

0:20:30 > 0:20:3240 seconds left, Radz.

0:20:32 > 0:20:33Can I come back to it?

0:20:33 > 0:20:35Yeah. Course you can. Go for another one.

0:20:35 > 0:20:37We are going for number five.

0:20:37 > 0:20:40Number five is jive,

0:20:40 > 0:20:44and what a dance, but little...

0:20:44 > 0:20:46I think...

0:20:46 > 0:20:48Oh, is it geese?

0:20:48 > 0:20:51Is it geese...? Let's have a look. Lindsey, are they geese?

0:20:51 > 0:20:54Oh! You can have that, you can have duck.

0:20:54 > 0:20:56Back to number seven.

0:20:56 > 0:20:59Seven is heaven. There are angels. They are up in the air.

0:20:59 > 0:21:02They are doing something very specific. Do they have a digger on?

0:21:02 > 0:21:04No, they don't have a digger. They've...

0:21:04 > 0:21:07I think we have to go to Lindsey and see what it is.

0:21:07 > 0:21:09Can you show what it is?

0:21:09 > 0:21:12It's a sombrero! Angels wearing sombreros.

0:21:12 > 0:21:15He even tried it on backstage.

0:21:15 > 0:21:17But that isn't bad, to have that amount of time.

0:21:17 > 0:21:20And the fact that he's got them in order,

0:21:20 > 0:21:22not just remembering what is there

0:21:22 > 0:21:24but the actual numbers they correspond with.

0:21:24 > 0:21:28If I knew you were going to score, I would have done so much better!

0:21:28 > 0:21:31Colin, thank you so much for being here.

0:21:31 > 0:21:35Thank you very much for your time, guys.

0:21:35 > 0:21:38If you want to learn some mind tricks or test your own brain power,

0:21:38 > 0:21:41check out the Blue Peter website.

0:21:41 > 0:21:42You can find the link on there.

0:21:42 > 0:21:45You get some top tips as well from Colin himself. Absolutely.

0:21:45 > 0:21:48Thanks again, guys. Brilliant. Lindsey.

0:21:48 > 0:21:50That was amazing.

0:21:50 > 0:21:52Speaking of memorable experiences,

0:21:52 > 0:21:56there's been loads this week on Autumnwatch.

0:21:56 > 0:21:59So, we thought, you know what? It's time to go green!

0:21:59 > 0:22:03Hopefully! There it is.

0:22:03 > 0:22:06So, it's the last show tonight BBC Two, eight o'clock.

0:22:06 > 0:22:09Now we can go over to find out how our guys are doing.

0:22:09 > 0:22:11Yes, they always look cosy.

0:22:13 > 0:22:15Good to see you.

0:22:15 > 0:22:18Let's start by talking about your highlights of the week, please.

0:22:20 > 0:22:23One of the highlights for me has been the spectacle

0:22:23 > 0:22:25of barnacle geese.

0:22:25 > 0:22:27That is what we came here for.

0:22:27 > 0:22:32The entire population of barnacle geese arrive here in autumn.

0:22:32 > 0:22:34This year, record numbers. 40,000.

0:22:34 > 0:22:37We've watched them as individuals as well.

0:22:37 > 0:22:40This particular one is auditioning for the circus.

0:22:40 > 0:22:43I like a good conservation story.

0:22:43 > 0:22:47The dormouse is in decline over much of the UK

0:22:47 > 0:22:50because their woodland habitat is being fragmented.

0:22:50 > 0:22:54But we were working with the People's Trust for Endangered Species

0:22:54 > 0:22:57to look at a way that we might join that habitat back together.

0:22:57 > 0:23:00I don't want to give away the secret but I can tell you that it works.

0:23:00 > 0:23:02That's good news.

0:23:02 > 0:23:04My most exciting time has to be

0:23:04 > 0:23:08I went up to the tiny island of Rum off the west coast of Scotland

0:23:08 > 0:23:11to watch the magnificent deer rut.

0:23:11 > 0:23:14Though they've been studying these deer for years and years,

0:23:14 > 0:23:16they've got no idea what they did at night.

0:23:16 > 0:23:20So I used my thermal camera to investigate what they were

0:23:20 > 0:23:24doing during the night, and we discovered some brand-new science!

0:23:24 > 0:23:28It genuinely is fantastic. So cool.

0:23:28 > 0:23:32Barny mentioned it's the last show. What has it got in store for us?

0:23:34 > 0:23:37One amazing thing is about starlings.

0:23:37 > 0:23:40We wanted to show them doing the murmurations,

0:23:40 > 0:23:43when you get tens of thousands of them all flying around,

0:23:43 > 0:23:45but they didn't do it this year.

0:23:45 > 0:23:49But we noticed our starlings were doing something amazing.

0:23:49 > 0:23:53Normally, they just make a starling noise, but listen to this.

0:23:53 > 0:23:56BIRDSONG

0:23:56 > 0:23:58That starling is mimicking an owl.

0:24:00 > 0:24:01That's a blackbird.

0:24:04 > 0:24:06And that one was mimicking a jackdaw,

0:24:06 > 0:24:08so they are not making starling noises,

0:24:08 > 0:24:12they are copying the other birds, which is really confusing.

0:24:12 > 0:24:14I love it! Cheeky old birds.

0:24:14 > 0:24:16We know there is something we need to remember tonight

0:24:16 > 0:24:18because it is Bonfire Night.

0:24:18 > 0:24:20Is there something we need to do with our pets?

0:24:22 > 0:24:26If you have cats or dogs or rabbits in your garden,

0:24:26 > 0:24:27from this point onwards,

0:24:27 > 0:24:30you really should be thinking about bringing them indoors.

0:24:30 > 0:24:32I've got a couple of dogs. Itchy and Scratchy are my poodles.

0:24:32 > 0:24:34They don't mind fireworks at all.

0:24:34 > 0:24:38We used to put them indoors, but we found that they weren't

0:24:38 > 0:24:41freaked out so we could take them into the garden and watch,

0:24:41 > 0:24:42but that's unusual.

0:24:42 > 0:24:45Most people's pets can get very upset, so please bring them in,

0:24:45 > 0:24:48and if you can, have someone with them all the time, because they

0:24:48 > 0:24:51don't like being left on their own.

0:24:51 > 0:24:52BARNEY: That's brilliant.

0:24:52 > 0:24:54MICHAELA: I have a Jack Russell called Toto.

0:24:54 > 0:24:58BARNEY: Sorry, that's me jumping in. It's hard with a two-second delay.

0:24:58 > 0:25:00But we have to move on to our amazing fireworks display.

0:25:00 > 0:25:03Have a great live show tonight, guys, and we'll see you soon.

0:25:03 > 0:25:09It is Bonfire Night. You've got to see this display of champions.

0:25:10 > 0:25:12Welcome to Victoria Park in Southport.

0:25:12 > 0:25:14It might not look like much

0:25:14 > 0:25:19but in a few hours' time, this place is going to explode into life.

0:25:19 > 0:25:21Literally.

0:25:21 > 0:25:26This is the setting for the British Musical Firework Championships.

0:25:26 > 0:25:28But these fireworks don't just have to look good.

0:25:28 > 0:25:30Each display is set to music,

0:25:30 > 0:25:34which means that the timing is absolutely crucial.

0:25:34 > 0:25:37And we have given one team taking part a very special challenge.

0:25:37 > 0:25:39All we need is a tune.

0:25:39 > 0:25:42I know. What better music to set fireworks to...

0:25:42 > 0:25:46Oh, sorry. And what better music to set fireworks to than this?

0:25:46 > 0:25:48THE BLUE PETER THEME TUNE PLAYS

0:25:48 > 0:25:50The Blue Peter theme tune!

0:25:50 > 0:25:53The person masterminding our firework theme tune challenge

0:25:53 > 0:25:56is Trevor, a former British champion,

0:25:56 > 0:25:59which means he can do this.

0:26:06 > 0:26:10Your job is to try to make these fireworks fire to music.

0:26:10 > 0:26:14How do you even start with that? We listen to the piece of music,

0:26:14 > 0:26:16and we look for symbol clashes or guitar riffs,

0:26:16 > 0:26:20and then we can put a firework in to match that. How do you time it?

0:26:20 > 0:26:23We can do it on a software package on the PC.

0:26:23 > 0:26:26Along the bottom, we have the music file

0:26:26 > 0:26:29and these white dots are where we have moved a firework into position.

0:26:29 > 0:26:30When it plays,

0:26:30 > 0:26:33it gives us a visual representation of exactly how the show will look.

0:26:33 > 0:26:37It takes the team a whole day to set up the display.

0:26:37 > 0:26:39So, it's all hands on deck.

0:26:39 > 0:26:41We need a stake in the ground here, well pushed in.

0:26:41 > 0:26:43He's well pushed in.

0:26:43 > 0:26:45Then we will have a couple of these, one each side,

0:26:45 > 0:26:48so these labels tell us where it sits in the field

0:26:48 > 0:26:51and which pin in the rail for the firing system

0:26:51 > 0:26:53that it needs to go into so it ignites at the right time.

0:26:53 > 0:26:57These things at different angles, they will fan out for the chorus?

0:26:57 > 0:27:00Yes. And they'll get channelled into one system?

0:27:00 > 0:27:03Yeah. A master controller, if you like.

0:27:03 > 0:27:05I think we are done for now,

0:27:05 > 0:27:08so we just have to wait until it gets dark.

0:27:08 > 0:27:11I will go and find the master controller and press the red button!

0:27:11 > 0:27:14Don't press it! I won't, I promise...

0:27:15 > 0:27:18EXPLOSION

0:27:18 > 0:27:19It's going to be awesome.

0:27:19 > 0:27:22Let's see what is happening on next week's show.

0:27:22 > 0:27:24Children in Need spectacular.

0:27:24 > 0:27:25We will be breaking the world record.

0:27:25 > 0:27:29Pudsey will be there, he's excited, that's why he is dancing.

0:27:29 > 0:27:32It's my gymnastics performance as well so make sure you are there.

0:27:32 > 0:27:36As well as that, the Vamps. Enjoy the fireworks.

0:27:36 > 0:27:37See you next week.
