6:02:03 > 6:02:05- Mm-hm.- Linds, are you up for today?- Uh-huh.

6:02:05 > 6:02:08What?! Linds, it's a live show. What are you doing?

6:02:08 > 6:02:10No, I know, but like you said, anything can happen

6:02:10 > 6:02:12and CrimsonDrawingBluebell wanted me to pull a funny face,

6:02:12 > 6:02:15- and they want you to pull one, too. - I'm going to join in the action.

6:02:15 > 6:02:18- Go on, do a funny face. Ooh, nice lips. Lovely.- Yeah.

6:02:18 > 6:02:21- That's a good one.- Actually, I want to talk about SunstoneStrongBanana,

6:02:21 > 6:02:23who asked to see a house of cards.

6:02:23 > 6:02:26I've been at this all day and any slip, honestly...

6:02:26 > 6:02:28- Wow! Radzi, do you know what, that looks ama...- Whoa!

6:02:28 > 6:02:30I mean um...I mean, um...

6:02:30 > 6:02:32- You've stuck them together haven't you, Radz?- No.

6:02:32 > 6:02:33That's cheating. A little bit.

6:02:33 > 6:02:36And, er, ViridianCleverPanda said that they would like to see

6:02:36 > 6:02:37a live Q&A.

6:02:37 > 6:02:40That means that you lot at home, our fans,

6:02:40 > 6:02:41you can ask us anything you like.

6:02:41 > 6:02:43Get onto the website right now. The address is there.

6:02:43 > 6:02:46- We'll answer pretty much anything, won't we?- Absolutely anything.

6:02:46 > 6:02:47So, get creative.

6:02:47 > 6:02:50Now, my friends,

6:02:50 > 6:02:53the online vote some of you have been taking part in,

6:02:53 > 6:02:54it's happened throughout the week.

6:02:54 > 6:02:56The voting, however, has now closed.

6:02:56 > 6:02:58It will determine if you'll have a model of Shelley,

6:02:58 > 6:03:01or a model of the Blue Peter ship

6:03:01 > 6:03:03and send it into outer space.

6:03:03 > 6:03:05- I genuinely mean "outer space". - Mm-hm.

6:03:05 > 6:03:06That's all I'm going to say.

6:03:06 > 6:03:10- It's so cool.- And we're going to reveal that a little bit later in the show.

6:03:10 > 6:03:13That's right. We sent Leah from Newsround to a very secret location,

6:03:13 > 6:03:16so she's with one of those objects prepping for that moment.

6:03:16 > 6:03:20Now, GlassReadingQueen asked to see over-dramatised

6:03:20 > 6:03:21facial expressions.

6:03:21 > 6:03:23I'm sorry, I mean, that's absolutely ridiculous -

6:03:23 > 6:03:26unless we've got a caricaturist in the studio

6:03:26 > 6:03:28by the name of George Williams.

6:03:28 > 6:03:30Welcome him, my friends!

6:03:30 > 6:03:31CHEERING AND APPLAUSE

6:03:33 > 6:03:35- George.- Hi, Radzi.

6:03:35 > 6:03:36Welcome to Blue Peter.

6:03:36 > 6:03:39Now, you've got a very cool job. You're a caricaturist,

6:03:39 > 6:03:42so you draw very unique drawings. Can you tell us about that?

6:03:42 > 6:03:44Yeah. I'm just, er, I'm going to pick on some of your features,

6:03:44 > 6:03:48be it your eyes, your nose, your mouth - or in your case, your hair.

6:03:48 > 6:03:49Exactly.

6:03:49 > 6:03:51Over-exaggerate them slightly and, er,

6:03:51 > 6:03:52make it recognisable as a caricature.

6:03:52 > 6:03:54And talking about recognisable,

6:03:54 > 6:03:57you've done that with celebrities. We've got some behind us here.

6:03:57 > 6:03:59Yeah, we've got Bruce in the corner there. Bruce Forsyth.

6:03:59 > 6:04:01He's just a gift, absolute gift.

6:04:01 > 6:04:03- Look at that nose, look at that chin.- Look at it!

6:04:03 > 6:04:05The beady eyes - we love it.

6:04:05 > 6:04:07And then we've got Ant and Dec.

6:04:07 > 6:04:08The TV duo, the legends.

6:04:08 > 6:04:10Absolutely. They're a gift, as well.

6:04:10 > 6:04:11Look at those foreheads. Had to be done.

6:04:11 > 6:04:15- Have they seen that, by the way? - They have. They've both got a copy of that now.

6:04:15 > 6:04:16- Amazing.- They love it.

6:04:16 > 6:04:18Erm, and Will Smith, there.

6:04:18 > 6:04:19Yeah, poor fellow.

6:04:19 > 6:04:21He's got a head a little bit like the shape of a football,

6:04:21 > 6:04:23like an American football.

6:04:23 > 6:04:25It's good for caricatures, I guess. And David Beckham!

6:04:25 > 6:04:27Yeah, talking of football, David Beckham over here.

6:04:27 > 6:04:30Slightly two-dimensional, slightly more graphic.

6:04:30 > 6:04:32But I think that kind of suits him really, doesn't it?

6:04:32 > 6:04:34And the biggest of all the celebrities is the one

6:04:34 > 6:04:36- and only Mr Barney Harwood here. - Of course.

6:04:36 > 6:04:39You've actually started drawing a caricature here.

6:04:39 > 6:04:42Yeah, we've made a start with some blue lines and an outline, just to save us some time,

6:04:42 > 6:04:45and I'm going to get stuck in here with the eyebrows, if that's OK.

6:04:45 > 6:04:47Look at that. If anyone at home, in fact, who's thinking,

6:04:47 > 6:04:52"I'd love to be able to draw a caricature," what would you say to them? What advice would you have?

6:04:52 > 6:04:56Erm, try and keep it bold. Keep it simple. Be brave.

6:04:56 > 6:04:59Erm, no hairy lines, no redraws.

6:04:59 > 6:05:01Just all in one. Couple of minutes.

6:05:01 > 6:05:03Now, when you say hairy lines, what do you mean there?

6:05:03 > 6:05:05Well, hairy lines is anything like, er, that kind of thing.

6:05:05 > 6:05:07- Like we're going to draw a fake moustache.- Ah, OK.

6:05:07 > 6:05:11That kind of rough line, OK. We don't want any of those.

6:05:11 > 6:05:15Nice and bold and simple. I'm going to start with his eyes here, as well.

6:05:15 > 6:05:18- There you go. They're very important.- Whilst you carry on with that, George,

6:05:18 > 6:05:21TealFriendlyOrchid has asked us a little bit of a challenge.

6:05:21 > 6:05:23So, we're going to have one minute for me to draw a caricature

6:05:23 > 6:05:27- and for Lindsey to draw a caricature. So, Linds, come on in! - I'm ready.- Are you ready?

6:05:27 > 6:05:30- I'm ready for this challenge, yes. - OK. Right, I'll take my position.

6:05:30 > 6:05:32OK, George, what do we have to do? Tell us.

6:05:32 > 6:05:34Well, you've got about 60 seconds.

6:05:34 > 6:05:35Just use the big pen for the hair,

6:05:35 > 6:05:37the small pen for the other outlines.

6:05:37 > 6:05:39So, we're drawing each other here, as best we can do?

6:05:39 > 6:05:42- I'll draw you, you draw me. 60 seconds on the clock, please! - Let's do it.

6:05:42 > 6:05:44- OK. Three, two, one, off we go!- OK.

6:05:44 > 6:05:47- And away you go.- This is hard.

6:05:47 > 6:05:50- That's a good flying start there. Look at that.- Oh, do you like it?

6:05:50 > 6:05:52- I'm assuming that's hair.- That is hair, indeed. With a hairy line.

6:05:52 > 6:05:55Yeah, looks a bit like a hairy line, but we'll let you off.

6:05:55 > 6:05:58This is harder than you...pfft! Just got it all over my hands. OK.

6:05:58 > 6:06:00Don't forget the big pen there. That fills out really nicely.

6:06:00 > 6:06:02- Oh, yeah. The big pen. - Fill the whole page. That's it.

6:06:02 > 6:06:05I'm just going to quickly finish off some of this.

6:06:05 > 6:06:06Yeah, OK, hang on.

6:06:06 > 6:06:10- What does Radzi look like? I've forgotten what...hang on. - Big smile, big smile.

6:06:10 > 6:06:13- Radzi, turn around, turn around! - Linds, I'm concentrating!

6:06:13 > 6:06:17- I've forgotten what your face looks like. I see it all the time. - Big, dark eyes, big smile.

6:06:17 > 6:06:20- Big, dark eyes. Got it. - How are you doing there? - That's now shaping up.

6:06:20 > 6:06:21- That's a radical nose. - I'm making accurate

6:06:21 > 6:06:24- Don't forget the face shape. You need a frame.- OK, face shape, yes.

6:06:24 > 6:06:29- Face shape?- Yeah, come on outside there. There you go.- Oh, no. - Nice square jaw.

6:06:29 > 6:06:31- Er...- That's it. Life-size body, well done. That's great.

6:06:31 > 6:06:33- Excellent.- Er...

6:06:33 > 6:06:36- How are we doing for time?- This is hard, to do it in time.- It is.

6:06:36 > 6:06:37I think we've got ten seconds left.

6:06:37 > 6:06:39Oh, teeth! I forgot your teeth!

6:06:39 > 6:06:41- Oh, dear.- Teeth, come on. Big smile. Nice big smile.

6:06:43 > 6:06:44- Excellent. Fill out the page... - HORN BLAST

6:06:44 > 6:06:46Stop your drawing!

6:06:46 > 6:06:48- It's quite difficult.- That was hard.

6:06:48 > 6:06:51George, can you feast your eyes upon this work of art here?

6:06:51 > 6:06:53Now, just before you start,

6:06:53 > 6:06:54I've got some snot.

6:06:54 > 6:06:56That's a nice touch. I do like that.

6:06:56 > 6:06:57Radzi! I never have bogeys.

6:06:57 > 6:07:00I hope Lindsey's returned the favour. That's just...

6:07:00 > 6:07:03I'm speechless. Absolutely speechless.

6:07:03 > 6:07:05I was quite nice with Radzi, cos I gave him big hair,

6:07:05 > 6:07:07big mus... I don't know, it looks like clouds,

6:07:07 > 6:07:09but it was meant to be muscles.

6:07:09 > 6:07:13And, er, he's wearing his little BP badge and doing a weird, quirky grin.

6:07:13 > 6:07:15Excellent. Yeah, I think you're the outright winner at this stage.

6:07:15 > 6:07:17- Well done.- Yes! Thank you.

6:07:17 > 6:07:18Sorry, dude.

6:07:18 > 6:07:20Don't worry. George, you are the professional, my friend.

6:07:20 > 6:07:23And, actually, I can see Lindsey's face and my face just there,

6:07:23 > 6:07:26- so, we'll see that later on.- You're sneaking in the picture. Here we go.

6:07:26 > 6:07:28- Done.- OK. - Good luck, George. Off you go.

6:12:20 > 6:12:22but I can now reveal that the item you've chosen

6:12:22 > 6:12:27to send into a space is the model of Shelley.

6:12:27 > 6:12:30So, earlier in the day, Lindsey gave a call to Leah from Newsround

6:12:30 > 6:12:32and here's what happened next.

6:12:33 > 6:12:35Hello, lovely Leah. Hello, Shelley.

6:12:35 > 6:12:38Is she all strapped in and ready to go, Leah?

6:12:43 > 6:12:45Are you ready for that countdown, Lindsey?

6:12:45 > 6:12:48Absolutely. We're ready in the studio. Aren't we everyone?

6:12:48 > 6:12:49OK, let's count down.

6:12:49 > 6:12:50Three,

6:12:50 > 6:12:51two,

6:12:51 > 6:12:53one - go into space, Shelley!

6:12:53 > 6:12:55CHEERING

6:12:55 > 6:12:58And as she flies, we will be tracking Shelley on GPS

6:12:58 > 6:13:03to find out eventually where she lands and to get that all-important

6:13:03 > 6:13:05footage of her in space.

6:13:05 > 6:13:07That's so exciting! We're all very excited in the studio.

6:13:07 > 6:13:10Thank you, Leah. We'll catch up with you a little bit later on.

6:13:10 > 6:13:11Bye, Shells - good luck!

6:13:16 > 6:13:19We have just sent something into space.

6:13:19 > 6:13:21This is off the charts.

6:13:21 > 6:13:24Now, QuartzLaughingKoala said they want to see more

6:13:24 > 6:13:26animals on the show.

6:13:26 > 6:13:28Well, here on Blue Peter is how we care for them.

6:13:30 > 6:13:33The British countryside is home to many wild animals,

6:13:33 > 6:13:35including birds,

6:13:35 > 6:13:36mammals,

6:13:36 > 6:13:38and a fair few reptiles.

6:13:38 > 6:13:41But, when wild animals become sick or injured,

6:13:41 > 6:13:43what can be done to help them?

6:13:43 > 6:13:46Well, I've come somewhere very special to find out.

6:13:49 > 6:13:50This is Tiggywinkles,

6:13:50 > 6:13:53one of the world's leading wildlife hospitals.

6:13:53 > 6:13:57It was set up almost 40 years ago by Sue and Les Stocker,

6:13:57 > 6:14:03and, so far, it's treated over 250,000 animals.

6:14:03 > 6:14:05- Hello, Les, how are you? - Hiya, Lindsey.

6:14:05 > 6:14:07- Good to meet you.- And you. - Thank you for having me here.

6:14:07 > 6:14:09This place is amazing. It seems huge!

6:14:09 > 6:14:12It just keeps growing and growing and growing. It's amazing.

6:14:12 > 6:14:15Now, tell me, how many animals have you got in at the moment?

6:14:15 > 6:14:17We've got, well, 1,010 at the moment.

6:14:17 > 6:14:21- Wow!- It's our busy time of the year and it's baby birds everywhere.

6:14:21 > 6:14:23I'd love to have a look around, if that's OK?

6:14:23 > 6:14:25- Yeah, I'd love to show you some. - Let's go.

6:14:27 > 6:14:30So, Les, tell me, how do the animals end up here?

6:14:30 > 6:14:34Either the general public bring them in cardboard boxes or the police

6:14:34 > 6:14:37will bring them in, the Fire Brigade, the RSPCA.

6:14:37 > 6:14:40Absolutely everybody brings animals into us.

6:14:40 > 6:14:43All the animals that are brought in are treated by the experienced

6:14:43 > 6:14:46staff, with the aim of one day releasing them back into the wild.

6:14:48 > 6:14:52- Right.- So what happens in here? Where are we?

6:14:52 > 6:14:53This is the main hedgehog room.

6:14:53 > 6:14:55There's loads! This is amazing!

6:14:55 > 6:14:57I'd like to introduce you to Sharon.

6:14:57 > 6:14:59- This is Lindsey.- Hi, Sharon. How are you doing?

6:14:59 > 6:15:01So who've we got in here, Sharon?

6:15:01 > 6:15:02I was going to show you this one -

6:15:02 > 6:15:05- this guy was burned and he was actually found in a bonfire.- No!

6:15:05 > 6:15:08So obviously he made a nice house there.

6:15:08 > 6:15:10So this is him here. You can actually see...

6:15:10 > 6:15:11Do you know what's weird?

6:15:11 > 6:15:14- You can actually smell bonfire a little bit, can't you?- Yeah.

6:15:14 > 6:15:16So will he recover fully?

6:15:16 > 6:15:18Yeah, as long as he gets full set of spines back...

6:15:18 > 6:15:21- He'll be all right. - ..he can go back to the wild.

6:15:21 > 6:15:24'As well as treating all sorts of different animals...'

6:15:24 > 6:15:26I like this one, he's my favourite.

6:15:26 > 6:15:29'The team are also on call 24 hours a day

6:15:29 > 6:15:32'in case an animal needs to be rescued.'

6:15:33 > 6:15:36Today, they're planning to release a male deer

6:15:36 > 6:15:38they've nursed back to health.

6:15:38 > 6:15:39PHONE RINGS

6:15:39 > 6:15:42'But before they can get ready, a call comes in about another

6:15:42 > 6:15:44'deer that's been badly injured and needs help.'

6:15:44 > 6:15:46Let's go.

6:15:48 > 6:15:53'We've been given a rough location of where the deer was spotted.

6:15:53 > 6:15:57'But the final search needs to be done on foot.'

6:15:57 > 6:15:58Do you know what?

6:15:58 > 6:16:01This is exciting but it's also a little bit nerve-racking because

6:16:01 > 6:16:04we don't really know what state we're going to find this deer in.

6:16:04 > 6:16:08Hopefully it's OK, and hopefully we'll be able to catch it,

6:16:08 > 6:16:13get it in the box and get it back to the centre really safely.

6:16:13 > 6:16:16'Trying to find a well-camouflaged deer in thick undergrowth

6:16:16 > 6:16:19'takes some doing. But eventually...'

6:16:19 > 6:16:21He's there, he's there, he's there, he's there!

6:16:21 > 6:16:23I've got him. He's there.

6:16:23 > 6:16:25(I found him, I found him.)

6:16:25 > 6:16:27He's just there.

6:16:27 > 6:16:31'Sharon knows exactly what to do and she takes control of the situation.'

6:16:33 > 6:16:35OK, we've got him.

6:16:37 > 6:16:39'To stop the animal getting upset,

6:16:39 > 6:16:42'we gently cover its head using a towel.'

6:16:42 > 6:16:45- OK.- So that'll calm him down now.

6:16:45 > 6:16:47- So he's just really stressed, isn't he?- Yeah.- OK.

6:16:47 > 6:16:50- Do you want to go and grab the box for us?- Yeah.

6:16:50 > 6:16:53'The team realise the deer is very poorly indeed

6:16:53 > 6:16:57'and rush it back to the vets at the centre as quickly as possible.'

6:16:58 > 6:17:02'They will do everything they can to try and save it.'

6:17:06 > 6:17:09'For now, there's nothing more the rescue team can do.

6:17:09 > 6:17:12'So we return to today's original task of releasing an adult male deer

6:17:12 > 6:17:14'back into the wild.'

6:17:16 > 6:17:18'The deer is carefully transferred into a trailer to start

6:17:18 > 6:17:20'its very special journey.'

6:17:21 > 6:17:23Got it?

6:17:24 > 6:17:26It's time to lock this up, drive the van

6:17:26 > 6:17:28and get him back into the wild.

6:17:28 > 6:17:31'We head to a nearby forest where the deer can settle in

6:17:31 > 6:17:33'to its new surroundings.'

6:17:35 > 6:17:39- We've had this dear with us for about two years now...- Wow!

6:17:39 > 6:17:41..so he's all ready to go back to the wild.

6:17:41 > 6:17:43- This is quite a big moment for you, isn't it?- Yes.

6:17:43 > 6:17:46What we'll do is drop these bits down into it in a minute

6:17:46 > 6:17:47and then we'll open up the other doors

6:17:47 > 6:17:50and then we just stand back out of the way. Are you ready?

6:17:50 > 6:17:52- Yep.- I'll open this door.

6:17:55 > 6:17:57- Like that.- He's off.

6:17:57 > 6:18:00There he goes, he's just checking out which way he's going to go.

6:18:00 > 6:18:02Yep. Off you go!

6:18:02 > 6:18:05Aww, he's gone off into the little bluebells!

6:18:07 > 6:18:10My time at the centre has been amazing,

6:18:10 > 6:18:13but it's also tinged with sadness when I hear the young deer

6:18:13 > 6:18:17we rescued earlier was simply too poorly to be saved.

6:18:18 > 6:18:21'But being involved in the incredible work the team do

6:18:21 > 6:18:26'and seeing the animals they are able to help has been so rewarding.'

6:18:26 > 6:18:28'I'm really proud to have played my part.'

6:18:30 > 6:18:33I absolutely loved going there and helping out.

6:18:33 > 6:18:36Les and Sue, you are amazing for helping out so many animals.
