:00:00. > :00:00.massive threat in my trousers, the whole class was laughing. Get your
:00:00. > :00:15.pens at the ready, live doodle along with Blue Peter. Keep it CBBC.
:00:16. > :00:40.OK. We should leave this to the experts, I think.
:00:41. > :00:52.Hello. That was a fabulous shot. An extended round of applause to
:00:53. > :00:59.Bellatrix, our incredible beatboxer. Amazing. For you and us, she will
:01:00. > :01:07.teach us how to beatbox like a pro later on. Brace yourself - I am
:01:08. > :01:12.taking part in the annual dear calling event.
:01:13. > :01:19.-- deer calling event. We want you to get involved in our live
:01:20. > :01:26.doodle-a-long. What is it? I could tell you or let the most beautiful
:01:27. > :01:33.person to tell you, Liz Pichon, to come out. Welcome to the show. The
:01:34. > :01:40.Silver badge, everybody. Let's talk about Tom Gates. What is he up to?
:01:41. > :01:43.This is the 11th book. He's in a band called Dog Zombies Rule. This
:01:44. > :01:55.time he's trying really desperately not just to play the leafy Green
:01:56. > :02:03.oaks people's home. In the book I do a lot of doodling. I don't just
:02:04. > :02:09.doodle in my books, on my earrings, on my shoes. I would really like a
:02:10. > :02:13.pair. Let's look in the book, because as you mentioned there were
:02:14. > :02:18.doodles everywhere, on letters and around the borders. Do you come one
:02:19. > :02:23.the story first and add the doodles? How does it work? I do both at the
:02:24. > :02:30.same time. I am an illustrator. I think visually. I use the doodles to
:02:31. > :02:34.help me tell the story. Do you ever eat noodles when you do doodles.
:02:35. > :02:42.Have you ever done doodles on a poodle? That is my next book. What
:02:43. > :02:45.is a doodle-a-long? It is where we want everyone involved. Get a
:02:46. > :02:50.permanent marker and get something to draw on. Importantly, you have to
:02:51. > :02:56.ask permission. Don't just draw on anything. Don't get me into trouble.
:02:57. > :02:59.That is what we want them to do. So you need pen, paper, permission. We
:03:00. > :03:04.will do it really soon. If you don't have a pen and paper, fear not, just
:03:05. > :03:12.grab anything. Maybe you have a white cat, grab that. Or a Ukulele.
:03:13. > :03:17.Like me you have a Ukulele which Liz doodled on before. Let's mix history
:03:18. > :03:22.with pushing the boat out. Take a look at this. That was actually
:03:23. > :03:26.quite funny! So, team Blue Peter have told me
:03:27. > :03:30.today I will help unlock the mysteries of the deep blue sea. That
:03:31. > :03:37.is because I am in Portsmouth to see a ship that dates back to Henry the
:03:38. > :03:42.eighth. That is the 16th century. So, I have come prepared.
:03:43. > :03:48.It is the wrong era! I'm here to set eyes on what is simply one of the
:03:49. > :03:55.most famous ships in history. That ship behind me is the Mary
:03:56. > :04:02.Rose. It was King Henry VIII's favourite warship, launched in 1511.
:04:03. > :04:07.It makes it over 500 years old. The Mary Rose is so famous because
:04:08. > :04:13.34 years after launching, she sank in battle. She then spent over 400
:04:14. > :04:18.years at the bottom of the sea, before being rediscovered in the
:04:19. > :04:24.1970s. It took another 11 years for her to be lifted from the sea bed.
:04:25. > :04:28.That is where we came in. Blue Peter covered the efforts to raise the
:04:29. > :04:33.wreck from start to finish and we played a big part in getting her out
:04:34. > :04:38.of the water. Since then, scientists have restored the Mary Rose. It has
:04:39. > :04:42.been painstaking work. The ship was sprayed with water and then waxed
:04:43. > :04:49.before it was slowly dried. It means the wreck has never been seen in its
:04:50. > :04:53.entirety until now. After 34 years of conservation, the
:04:54. > :05:02.ship has been fully revealed. And just look at it. And it is only here
:05:03. > :05:06.in this purpose-built museum in Portsmouth's historic boat yard that
:05:07. > :05:11.you can have a close look. I almost feel as if I could step on the ship.
:05:12. > :05:14.Actually now I will take a closer look.
:05:15. > :05:19.I have been given exclusive access to get to see parts of the restored
:05:20. > :05:27.ship most people won't. It is fascinating.
:05:28. > :05:33.This is Dr Hildred. She was part of the original diving team that raised
:05:34. > :05:37.the wreck. At one time this was buried under the seabed. How did the
:05:38. > :05:42.ambition start to raise it out and bring it here? Once we exposed it,
:05:43. > :05:47.we realised the wealth of objects inside it. 19,000 objects that tell
:05:48. > :05:51.us about life in the 16th century. We realised we had to preserve it
:05:52. > :05:56.for the nation. We had to bring it to shore and create a museum, which
:05:57. > :06:01.is what we have done. Is there anything I can see close up? I will
:06:02. > :06:06.show you how we maintain objects. The ship is restored, but many of
:06:07. > :06:10.the objects found are not. It is in this room that the scientists are
:06:11. > :06:14.slowly working to uncover what was found on board. Each one an
:06:15. > :06:18.incredible piece of history. Whatever it is we see here or you
:06:19. > :06:22.find, that could have been on the boat, used by people who actually
:06:23. > :06:28.lived and worked on the ship. Absolutely. Touched by somebody 500
:06:29. > :06:32.years ago now. Even though these historical treasures are around 500
:06:33. > :06:36.years old, I am being allowed to help out.
:06:37. > :06:40.We are going to allow you to excavate it. You have one chance
:06:41. > :06:46.only. Don't mess it up. Wow! Talk about pressure! So this could be a
:06:47. > :06:51.new find. It could be a Blue Peter exclusive, or it could be, well,
:06:52. > :06:55.let's find out. If you knock around here, you might be able to get this
:06:56. > :07:00.knock off. OK, I'm going to knock your block off! Here comes the
:07:01. > :07:05.science bit. Concentrate. I am chipping away at a layer of calcium
:07:06. > :07:08.carbonate, which has built up having been under water for so long. Look
:07:09. > :07:15.at that. Look at that! OK, I will be honest,
:07:16. > :07:20.I have no idea what it is. You have exposed enough for us to say it is a
:07:21. > :07:24.hook. That and the bronze part was helped to use the anchor. It was
:07:25. > :07:29.found near an chor and the only one we've got. You have not only
:07:30. > :07:33.discovered history, but have discovered one object we've never
:07:34. > :07:38.had before on the Mary Rose. This hook would have been used to hold
:07:39. > :07:42.the Mary Rose's giant anchor. It is amazing to think it would last have
:07:43. > :07:47.seen the light of day way back in the time of Henry the eighth. That
:07:48. > :07:53.is a Blue Peter exclusive. Thank you very much. David, thank you so much.
:07:54. > :08:00.If we were to do the entire thing, how long would it take? Christmas
:08:01. > :08:06.2017 to finish. I will probably look around the... I think I will leave
:08:07. > :08:10.them to it. Radzi is funny. Are you ready for your doodle-a-long? I am
:08:11. > :08:14.joined by the doodle Queen. Let's talk doodles. How will we do it? We
:08:15. > :08:18.all need something to draw on. I will draw on a pair of shoes today,
:08:19. > :08:23.which is fantastic. I have permanent marker. You will draw on a T-shirt.
:08:24. > :08:27.You have a fabric pen because that will work better on that. A top tip
:08:28. > :08:32.here is if you want to draw your design first, draw it on a piece of
:08:33. > :08:37.paper and slip the piece of paper under the T-shirt. That is very
:08:38. > :08:45.clever. It means you can trace what you are doing. This is why we need
:08:46. > :08:55.top tips. Have a team. We are the dream team. We are getting ready to
:08:56. > :09:04.doodle. Football, bag and T-shirt? Yes. Team Radzi introduce
:09:05. > :09:11.themselves. Katelyn. I am drawing on a pencil case. I'm rilely. I am
:09:12. > :09:20.drawing on a lamp shade. I'm drawing on a shoe.
:09:21. > :09:27.Over to CBBC HQ. It is great to see you. I will have a go at doodling on
:09:28. > :09:33.a note pad and hacker will do it on his dog bowl. I have no fingers,
:09:34. > :09:42.have I? This should be my tea break! It is Blue Peter, keep it chilled!
:09:43. > :09:47.Let's say hello to our video callers, we have Chloe-Leila and
:09:48. > :09:52.Maisie. Chloe-Leila, you might see there in the white top s wearing a
:09:53. > :09:58.Blue Peter Silver badge. That is because she sent us something
:09:59. > :10:04.brilliant. These are masks... Wow! On lollipop sticks and they are...
:10:05. > :10:09.Did she know we would do this? No. It is a surprise. Look at this. How
:10:10. > :10:16.good are these! You can custom miez the beards as well. You are a
:10:17. > :10:23.genius. You know what you are doing. Where
:10:24. > :10:27.do we start? Is everyone ready? So, the first thing I will do is find a
:10:28. > :10:32.good place to start. I will write my name. You could, you can write your
:10:33. > :10:37.name, you can do a star. I will do it in kind of bubble writing like
:10:38. > :10:46.this. It is a popular font. I used to do it when I was a kid. 3-D is
:10:47. > :10:50.all the range. Liz has done a cool tutorial online for you. That is a
:10:51. > :10:55.clever way to do it because it is almost coming out of the page. You
:10:56. > :11:00.should be an author and illustrator! I am trying my best! Don't worry
:11:01. > :11:04.about making a mistake as well. So I will draw my name and then I will
:11:05. > :11:10.draw a star. I will show you how to draw a star. Do a tringle at the
:11:11. > :11:16.top. One at the side, one there and one at the bottom. You do extra
:11:17. > :11:21.element elements of drawings and you draw it all together. Let's look t a
:11:22. > :11:25.our guys over here. These guys are doing really well. You have a star
:11:26. > :11:29.on the football. Jayden has done her name. I started with the green
:11:30. > :11:34.badge, I love Blue Peter and I don't know how to draw this ship. It is
:11:35. > :11:38.really hard! I will do a bit of copying.
:11:39. > :11:42.You are flying through things here. Katelyn, can we look at yours? You
:11:43. > :11:46.have your name there. Rilely, you have a cool star. What is that you
:11:47. > :11:51.have got there? It is just a pattern. You have recreated what Liz
:11:52. > :11:59.has done perfectly. What about you, Aisja? I have my name and a star.
:12:00. > :12:04.Let's see how Karim and Hacker are getting on. Hacker is shaking his
:12:05. > :12:11.head. I can only imagine what he's looking at. I am not the best
:12:12. > :12:17.artist. I am giving it a go. It is not too bad. Liz, help me! Put some
:12:18. > :12:22.detail around it. Now to our video feed and see the
:12:23. > :12:28.girls. How are you getting on, girls? Oh, look at that. Oh a cat on
:12:29. > :12:34.a welly. And a shooting star. A bit more time
:12:35. > :12:39.yet. Shall I show you how... We have 30 seconds left to get this first
:12:40. > :12:45.bit done. Shall I show you how to do the lines. You are tracing mine. I
:12:46. > :12:50.am cheating! If you want to link all the drawings together, the way you
:12:51. > :12:53.do it is curved lines like that. It is effective and you can fill up a
:12:54. > :12:58.lot of different spaces with it. We will carry on with this whilst we
:12:59. > :13:02.get involved with this project. You have another art project cow can get
:13:03. > :13:08.involved with. Take a look. Children In Need is almost here. We want you
:13:09. > :13:15.to do... Did someone say goo? It is do your thing.
:13:16. > :13:23.You could make a cake. With a special ingredient! Goo. You could
:13:24. > :13:28.put on a fancy dress costume. Or you could do a sponsored
:13:29. > :13:32.silence... So whatever you are doing for Children In Need, we want to
:13:33. > :13:40.know about it. All you have to do is go on the Blue Peter website, print
:13:41. > :13:46.out your template and send us your... Goo. Send it with your
:13:47. > :13:49.pledge slip and tell us what you are doing for Children In Need. When you
:13:50. > :13:57.have done that, send it to: We want to cover the entire Blue
:13:58. > :14:06.Peter studio in your goo for the special. Send it to us by 16th
:14:07. > :14:13.November. Go on and goo your thing for Children In Need. Goo on!
:14:14. > :14:18.We would like to cover the entire Blue Peter studio in your goo. That
:14:19. > :14:23.is a lovely picture, Liz. As you can see, Liz has done her own
:14:24. > :14:28.goo. Check it out for inspiration. What I love about today's show, it
:14:29. > :14:33.is so arty. We have doodling on behind us. Hello guys. We have the
:14:34. > :14:37.big badge wall, which is covered in all your fantastic posts. Look at
:14:38. > :14:44.this. This is sent in by Amy and Sarah. They have done an echo
:14:45. > :14:51.booklet on how to be more eco. My favourite part is here you can see
:14:52. > :14:58.my face hiding in the bushes. I am next to that strawberry I grew in
:14:59. > :15:03.the garden. You forget to send us your names and address. Send us in
:15:04. > :15:08.your address so we can send you a green badge. Here is one for you and
:15:09. > :15:13.one for your. Mine says "supper" on it.
:15:14. > :15:21.Gavin, from Cumbria, has done this - all the Blue Peter badges which have
:15:22. > :15:24.been turned into characters. My favourite is green. She looks lovely
:15:25. > :15:28.and leafy! Keep your post coming in to the
:15:29. > :15:30.usual address. Who knows, it might make
:15:31. > :15:32.it onto next week's Big Badge Wall and you
:15:33. > :15:33.could Sorry everyone, I'm going to have
:15:34. > :15:40.to put my pen down for a second, because it's time to meet
:15:41. > :15:43.our next guest. Give it up for beatbox
:15:44. > :15:45.champion Bellatrix! Yes, that is what I'm talking about.
:15:46. > :16:02.Bellatrix, welcome to Blue Peter. That's beatboxing, which is a form
:16:03. > :16:20.of vocal percussion. So, in the UK, you were the first
:16:21. > :16:22.professional female beatboxer ever? Yeah, as far as I'm aware. How did
:16:23. > :16:32.it start? I first heard beatboxing
:16:33. > :16:35.from a family friend, Duke Box, I was fascinated and begged him
:16:36. > :16:38.to teach me and went on from I used to really annoy
:16:39. > :16:41.my friends at school, I've taken part in loads
:16:42. > :16:45.of competitions in the UK and Now I'm focusing on
:16:46. > :16:47.writing my own music, which incorporates
:16:48. > :16:52.beatboxing and singing. Can we hear a bit more of what you
:16:53. > :16:55.do best, please? For sure. Take it away. I'm a little bit lost, and
:16:56. > :17:11.I'm a little bit lost, and you're a little bit lost.
:17:12. > :17:30.APPLAUSE It is genuinely incredible how you
:17:31. > :17:35.do what you do. We have got our presenters kitted
:17:36. > :17:44.out with caps and Mike. What do we need to know?
:17:45. > :17:50.To break it down, you can use phonetics.
:17:51. > :18:07.If we start with you on the bass drum. It sounds like... It sounds
:18:08. > :18:13.like the letter B. Try this at home. You will probably do better than we
:18:14. > :18:25.will. First thing, when you use the letter B in language, you don't go,
:18:26. > :18:40.I had beans for breakfast. Maybe you do! Your lips up out what. -- your
:18:41. > :18:55.lips move outward. How do you say Barney? A simple one for you. The
:18:56. > :19:02.easiest sound is the high hat, and it is similar to the T. If you want
:19:03. > :19:13.to make it more interesting and complicated, you can add the K. It's
:19:14. > :19:24.like a little train. It's nice. I'm ready. I got the hardest one to you.
:19:25. > :19:30.It's a bit like like the letter K. Put your tongue in the roof of your
:19:31. > :19:35.mouth, and breathing so you feel the air rushing over your tongue and
:19:36. > :19:42.it's cold there. Now you need to say the K with your mouth in that
:19:43. > :20:11.position. Smashed it. Now, in words, but gently. Gently! Let's add some
:20:12. > :20:23.bass drum. THEY BEATBOX APPLAUSE Can you do this
:20:24. > :20:34.I'm on the lookout for the largest land mammal in the UK - the red
:20:35. > :20:38.deer. It's around here somewhere. I'm in
:20:39. > :20:44.the Peak District. I'm told there is a competition, and I love a
:20:45. > :20:50.competition. Hi, you must be Danny. Shall I show you where to find the
:20:51. > :20:57.deer? Absolutely. Always follow the expert. Danny looks after these
:20:58. > :21:04.moors and knows all about red deer. What are we doing today, why are we
:21:05. > :21:11.here? We are here looking to spot red deer. I can hear them, they are
:21:12. > :21:16.so noisy, aren't they? They are. At this time of year, they come
:21:17. > :21:22.together, and the strongest stags lock antlers, which is spectacular,
:21:23. > :21:27.battling for supremacy to be able to mate with the Heinz that that art
:21:28. > :21:33.there. So it is a bit of a competition? Yes. They can show how
:21:34. > :21:40.deep their voice is and how formidable they might be. The way
:21:41. > :21:44.the red deer call-out is most common at this time of year. It is so
:21:45. > :21:47.common that people round here have a competition to celebrate. For the
:21:48. > :21:52.past bee years, people have gathered right here on the eastern moors for
:21:53. > :21:59.the annual red deer championships to see if they can draw like deer. I'm
:22:00. > :22:02.being serious, this is a real competition. I'm going to be getting
:22:03. > :22:11.involved, and if I'm going to do this, I'm doing it properly. Wright,
:22:12. > :22:17.where is the competition? Lindsey, I think you've got the wrong end of
:22:18. > :22:23.the stick. Really? That's awkward. So, after a quick change, the
:22:24. > :22:26.competitors head over the moors towards the deer. Keep climbing. If
:22:27. > :22:31.I'm going to stand any chance at all, I'm going to need some advice.
:22:32. > :22:37.Luckily, last year's champion, Flora, is on hand to help. What are
:22:38. > :22:44.your top tips for me? To be really loud, and to be really confident.
:22:45. > :22:49.And don't be embarrassed. Yes, because I do feel silly, but have
:22:50. > :22:53.you got to just go for a? Yes. Let's go for this, let's bring that medal
:22:54. > :22:57.home. Competitors are marred by a team of judges and get points for
:22:58. > :23:02.style and how real they sound. What really impresses the judges, though,
:23:03. > :23:07.is being able to get a deer to answer back. So, let's get ready
:23:08. > :23:30.to... Just start. CALLS LIKE A DEER wow, I did not see
:23:31. > :23:41.that coming. Competition is fierce, and some people are really going for
:23:42. > :23:45.it. Did you sign up? I did. It's my own fault, really, isn't it? And
:23:46. > :23:55.before long, it's my turn. Time to step up. CALLS LIKE A DEER not bad,
:23:56. > :24:14.but then... DEER CALLS BACK and then time for
:24:15. > :24:26.Flora to show me how it's really done. DEER CALLS as the competition
:24:27. > :24:33.goes into the night, the judges have a lot to think about. Flora's
:24:34. > :24:38.sister, Poppy, had ago, too. And she's good. It's time for us to head
:24:39. > :24:44.back to get those all-important results. OK, this is it. The judges
:24:45. > :24:51.are just coming out. They've got the results. The nerves are kicking in.
:24:52. > :24:54.Over to head Judge Roger. The overall winner, unanimously decided
:24:55. > :24:59.by all three back of us, was number 74, Andy.
:25:00. > :25:03.APPLAUSE It turns out the judges didn't think
:25:04. > :25:07.I was very good. Can't win everything, I guess. But Poppy was
:25:08. > :25:13.so good that she has taken the medal from her sister this year, keeping
:25:14. > :25:17.it in the family. This has genuinely been one of the weirdest and most
:25:18. > :25:22.wonderful blue Peter filming days ever. I have never laughed this
