7:10:04 > 7:10:07It's a really special occasion because it celebrates, you know,
7:10:07 > 7:10:10all the fantastic British sport, but also for us as athletes to be
7:10:10 > 7:10:12able to see our other fellow athletes.
7:10:12 > 7:10:15Normally when we go to events, we're all paraded around as the
7:10:15 > 7:10:18Olympian, which is nice, but it's also nice to go to an event and sort
7:10:18 > 7:10:22of feel normal and be surrounded by people in the same job as us.
7:10:22 > 7:10:26Do you have any advice for the people watching out here?
7:10:26 > 7:10:29I think the best piece of advice is to just work incredibly hard
7:10:29 > 7:10:31and be focused on what it is that you want to do.
7:10:31 > 7:10:34It's incredibly difficult to become the best in the world at something,
7:10:34 > 7:10:36but it's all about having that ambition
7:10:36 > 7:10:38and being prepared to work hard.
7:10:38 > 7:10:42'Between them, these guys have won countless medals and championships,
7:10:42 > 7:10:45'but there's one thing they all want to get their hands on.'

7:14:44 > 7:14:47so they can apply for this pack right here and that way your
7:14:47 > 7:14:50- whole class can get involved.- That's awesome. Do you know what, guys?
7:14:50 > 7:14:53- I absolutely love a competition.- Do you?- Do you know what I love more?
7:14:53 > 7:14:56- Go on.- This week's big badge wall. - Nice, Linds.
7:14:56 > 7:14:58- How good was that link?- It was OK.
7:14:58 > 7:15:02We're joined by Nigel and Michael again. Guys, can you do the honours?
7:15:02 > 7:15:05Use your amazing voices to explain this week's big badge wall.
7:15:05 > 7:15:09I found Shelley, so I get a prize, right? Look at this.
7:15:09 > 7:15:11This is incredible, isn't it?
7:15:11 > 7:15:14Beautiful Blue Peter ship there, sailing off into the distance.
7:15:14 > 7:15:15Very well drawn.
7:15:15 > 7:15:18And there's Shelley once again and I love on the left-hand side,
7:15:18 > 7:15:22look at the two kids that look like they have UFO eyes. They're aliens.
7:15:22 > 7:15:26- Yeah.- That's you two looking at your best there.- Yeah, it really is.
7:15:26 > 7:15:29Well, I've got to draw some attention to Malik from Dewsbury,
7:15:29 > 7:15:32- who's made this incredible picture, using cubism, of Lindsey.- Whoa.
7:15:32 > 7:15:35No idea how you've done it, Malik, but you are, I think, a genius.
7:15:35 > 7:15:36Very clever.
7:15:36 > 7:15:38Barney, would you like to model the next bit of post, please?
7:15:38 > 7:15:41- I would love to, darling.- This is from Mary from Gloucestershire.
7:15:41 > 7:15:44- Look at the talent and the time that's gone into this.- Yes.
7:15:44 > 7:15:46She's sewed together a little apron for Barney Harwood here.
7:15:46 > 7:15:48- How perfect is that?- It's great.
7:15:48 > 7:15:50- I've got a little pouch for my joey as well.- Yeah.
7:15:50 > 7:15:53If I was a kangaroo, that is. OK. Good.
7:15:53 > 7:15:56Boys, what do you think the recycled Blue Peter badges are made out of?
7:15:56 > 7:15:59- I know. Shark teeth.- It's not shark teeth, no. Any ideas?
7:15:59 > 7:16:02- I was going to go with baby teeth. - It's not baby teeth either.
7:16:02 > 7:16:05They're easy to collect, aren't they? No, it's actually yoghurt pots
7:16:05 > 7:16:07mostly, which gave me a bit of inspiration for this week's
7:16:07 > 7:16:09Blue Peter make. Take a look at these.
7:16:09 > 7:16:12- How good are they?- Look at those. - They're called Blue Peter bakes.
7:16:12 > 7:16:14They're designed around the badge and they're called bakes -
7:16:14 > 7:16:17- not quite biscuits and not quite cakes.- Nice.
7:16:17 > 7:16:19- Did you come up with that?- No, they did, I'm just saying it and
7:16:19 > 7:16:21making myself look like I know what I'm doing.
7:16:21 > 7:16:23So obviously you've got the main ingredients in there which
7:16:23 > 7:16:26- are very important, Radzi, which would be...- Yoghurt pots.- Not quite.
7:16:26 > 7:16:29Yoghurt. If you follow me over here, I'll show you how to make them.
7:16:29 > 7:16:31They're really simple. Take a look at the ingredient list.
7:16:31 > 7:16:34These are all the things that you're going to need.
7:16:34 > 7:16:36Plain flour, baking powder, bicarbonate of soda,
7:16:36 > 7:16:38pinch of salt, caster sugar, egg white, 200g of yoghurt,
7:16:38 > 7:16:40zest from one lemon, vanilla extract,
7:16:40 > 7:16:42blueberries, fresh or frozen -
7:16:42 > 7:16:44it don't really matter, mate - and kitchen foil.
7:16:44 > 7:16:46I'm whizzing through this to show you,
7:16:46 > 7:16:48but you can go to the Blue Peter website and find
7:16:48 > 7:16:50everything that you need on there. So first things first,
7:16:50 > 7:16:52we're going to do our dry mix and when
7:16:52 > 7:16:55we're putting our dry mix in the oven... In the oven?
7:16:55 > 7:16:57In a bowl, we need to make sure that our oven is at 190,
7:16:57 > 7:17:00that's the temperature these are going to cook in.
7:17:00 > 7:17:03So that's our flour, our bicarb of soda,
7:17:03 > 7:17:06our baking powder and our salt. Dry mix done, it's that easy.
7:17:06 > 7:17:10Put it over to one side. Now we're going to do our wet mix.
7:17:10 > 7:17:12Now we need an egg white, which means we need to get the yolk
7:17:12 > 7:17:15out of the white and at the moment, they're both in the same shell.
7:17:15 > 7:17:18So what we do is we give it a little crack on one bowl and then very,
7:17:18 > 7:17:21very gently, you want to make sure the bigger half is at the bottom
7:17:21 > 7:17:24and you can see there the egg white just flying out, but the yolk isn't.
7:17:24 > 7:17:27What you want to do is just gently juggle the yolk from one shell
7:17:27 > 7:17:29to the other and as you're doing that,
7:17:29 > 7:17:32the white will fall out into the bowl below.
7:17:32 > 7:17:34Now, don't throw the yolk away, you might need to use that for
7:17:34 > 7:17:37a cake if you're making one later on, but don't waste food.
7:17:37 > 7:17:41OK, now we need to get a towel and wipe my whitey fingers.
7:17:41 > 7:17:43And then whisk the egg white in a bowl.
7:17:43 > 7:17:46It doesn't need to be too whisked, we're not making a meringue here,
7:17:46 > 7:17:48we're just making a nice frothy, bubbly mess.
7:17:48 > 7:17:50That'll do nicely and then we add everything else.
7:17:50 > 7:17:52We've got our sugar.
7:17:52 > 7:17:56We've got half a teaspoon of vanilla extract, or a little bit more
7:17:56 > 7:17:59if your name is Barney Harwood, because you know you like vanilla.
7:17:59 > 7:18:04Lemon zest, in it goes, and then we're going to chuck in our yoghurt.
7:18:04 > 7:18:08Honestly, I know I talk about this every time I do a make,
7:18:08 > 7:18:09but I really wish we had smelly vision.
7:18:09 > 7:18:12We've got to get someone to work on that, it smells so good, this.
7:18:12 > 7:18:14Then what we do is give it a good old whisk.
7:18:14 > 7:18:16That's our wet mix.
7:18:18 > 7:18:21And then we're going to put our dry into our wet.
7:18:21 > 7:18:23Don't put the wet into the dry, because it'll go all lumpy
7:18:23 > 7:18:25and nobody wants that in their life.
7:18:25 > 7:18:27OK. Good old whisk.
7:18:29 > 7:18:35And once you've done that for about nine years, it looks like this.
7:18:35 > 7:18:37Now, you're after a really big, sticky, gloopy mess.
7:18:37 > 7:18:40It's supposed to look like that and then once you've got your mix,
7:18:40 > 7:18:43you want to put it into your Blue Peter badge-shaped moulds.
7:18:43 > 7:18:45Now, you can't buy those, but this is Blue Peter.
7:18:45 > 7:18:48We can make them and if you head online to where you found the
7:18:48 > 7:18:50ingredients, you'll see a masterclass.
7:18:50 > 7:18:53It's basically me folding tinfoil to show you how to make those shapes.
7:18:53 > 7:18:55It's very easy to do and, of course, you have to do that before
7:18:55 > 7:18:59you do the next step, which is to put our mex, our MIX
7:18:59 > 7:19:01inside our moulds.
7:19:01 > 7:19:04So you want one heaped teaspoon.
7:19:04 > 7:19:07One teaspoon isn't enough, by the way. You need to have two teaspoons
7:19:07 > 7:19:10to do this and make sure it's really heaped. OK.
7:19:10 > 7:19:15See, I'm an expert at this, aren't I? OK. Good.
7:19:15 > 7:19:17There we go, right in the middle.
7:19:17 > 7:19:20Now, before this, I've buttered the sides of the moulds, because
7:19:20 > 7:19:22we don't want our bake to stick.
7:19:22 > 7:19:24It's really that simple. Now, when you're making the moulds,
7:19:24 > 7:19:27make sure that these bits here are not too tight together,
7:19:27 > 7:19:29because you want the biscuit to spread out when it cooks.
7:19:29 > 7:19:30If I lift that up, does that help?
7:19:30 > 7:19:33Can you see in there? You want it to fill these bits up here as well.
7:19:33 > 7:19:35Finishing touches before it goes into the oven,
7:19:35 > 7:19:39take your blueberries and just place them in there.
7:19:39 > 7:19:40Like that.
7:19:40 > 7:19:44Dead simple. OK, so our oven is now at 190.
7:19:44 > 7:19:46We're going to place our tray in.
7:19:46 > 7:19:48Don't forget, ovens are hot.
7:19:48 > 7:19:51I know that you know this, but you should always use an oven mitt
7:19:51 > 7:19:54or an oven glove if you're taking things out of an oven.
7:19:54 > 7:19:56And once those bakes have been in there for 10-15 minutes,
7:19:56 > 7:19:59they go nice and brown, and then they're ready for eating.
7:19:59 > 7:20:01Radzi, Lindsey, you know this bit.
7:20:01 > 7:20:05- You can try those ones if you want, just there.- They look nice, OK.
7:20:05 > 7:20:07All the ingredients and everything you need is on the
7:20:07 > 7:20:09- Blue Peter website, go and check it out, it's that easy.- Yummy.
7:20:09 > 7:20:12- They're nice, aren't they? - They're nice!
7:20:12 > 7:20:14- I found those out the back this morning.- I have a question.
7:20:14 > 7:20:16Don't talk with your mouth full.
7:20:16 > 7:20:19I'm sorry, my mum would be disgraced at my behaviour.
7:20:19 > 7:20:21OK, did you watch the BBC One show Let It Shine at the weekend?
7:20:21 > 7:20:25- Mmm-hmm.- I went and met Gary Barlow, didn't I?- Oh, really?
7:20:25 > 7:20:28- Did a Blue Peter film. Auditioned for Gary Barlow and everything.- OK.
7:20:28 > 7:20:31Let's have a look at this. Finish your mouthful. Swallow it.
7:20:33 > 7:20:36I'm here in Media City, Salford to see behind the scenes of one
7:20:36 > 7:20:40of the biggest shows of 2017.
7:20:40 > 7:20:42It's Let It Shine.
7:20:42 > 7:20:43For the next few months,
7:20:43 > 7:20:47Let It Shine is the only place to be on a Saturday night.
7:20:47 > 7:20:50The show is on the hunt for a boyband to perform
7:20:50 > 7:20:52in a brand-new musical.
7:20:52 > 7:20:57And it's fronted by entertainment royalty - Mr Gary Barlow.
7:21:00 > 7:21:02So Let It Shine are now midway through filming,
7:21:02 > 7:21:05and they've pretty much taken over the studios here.
7:21:05 > 7:21:07But we're going to get a sneak peek.
7:21:10 > 7:21:12(Don't say anything!)
7:21:12 > 7:21:13But Gary isn't alone,
7:21:13 > 7:21:17he's joined by all-star judges Martin Kemp,
7:21:17 > 7:21:19Amber Riley
7:21:19 > 7:21:20and Dannii Minogue
7:21:20 > 7:21:24to help whittle down the contestants into a five-piece band.
7:21:24 > 7:21:27This is where Gary and the judges will be sat,
7:21:27 > 7:21:30casting their opinion on the people they see.
7:21:30 > 7:21:31And it's all presented by
7:21:31 > 7:21:34Bake Off's Mel Giedroyc and Graham Norton.
7:21:36 > 7:21:40I completely don't remember what you asked me!
7:21:40 > 7:21:43It's the same old thing - he sang, what do you think?
7:21:43 > 7:21:44LAUGHTER
7:21:44 > 7:21:46It's got me thinking...judges,
7:21:46 > 7:21:48a talent show,
7:21:48 > 7:21:50boyband?
7:21:50 > 7:21:53I wonder if I've got what it takes?
7:21:53 > 7:21:54I hope I have.
7:21:56 > 7:22:00They don't call me the Wolverhampton Warbler for nothing.
7:22:00 > 7:22:02If I'm going to meet Gary Barlow,
7:22:02 > 7:22:05I want to show him some of my singing skills.
7:22:05 > 7:22:09Who knows - maybe he could pick me for the Let It Shine band?
7:22:13 > 7:22:14- HIGH PITCHED:- # Tra-la-la-la-la!
7:22:14 > 7:22:18- LOW PITCHED: - # Low, low, low, low, low. #
7:22:18 > 7:22:21Come on, Radzi. Come on, Radzi.
7:22:21 > 7:22:23Think Gary Barlow.
7:22:23 > 7:22:25See Gary Barlow.
7:22:25 > 7:22:27Be Gary Barlow.
7:22:27 > 7:22:29I don't know if I can do this.
7:22:29 > 7:22:31- Are you OK? You seem a bit down. - I am down, Graham.
7:22:31 > 7:22:34I don't think I can do this. I can't impress Gary Barlow.
7:22:34 > 7:22:38Don't forget, you have a number one single under your belt.
7:22:38 > 7:22:41Children In Need, two years ago.
7:22:42 > 7:22:45Mel's right! I do have a number one single.
7:22:45 > 7:22:46In a way.
7:22:46 > 7:22:49Have a word with yourself, young man. What is that?
7:22:49 > 7:22:53- That is a Blue Peter badge, and that is a passport to greatness.- It is!
7:22:53 > 7:22:54Greatness.
7:22:54 > 7:22:55Gary Barlow. I can do this!
7:22:55 > 7:22:57- You can!- OK!
7:22:57 > 7:22:59Bring it on!
7:22:59 > 7:23:02- Hasn't a hope.- Gary Barlow's going to be absolutely foul, isn't he?
7:23:02 > 7:23:05- Hate him, hate him!- Awful, awful.
7:23:05 > 7:23:07It's now or never, Radzi.
7:23:07 > 7:23:12He might have sold over 50 million records, but has one of the
7:23:12 > 7:23:17most famous men in British pop music ever heard anything like me before?
7:23:17 > 7:23:21OK, this is it, I'm going to meet the Barlow,
7:23:21 > 7:23:24- and I'm going to sing to him. Gary, hi!- How you doing?
7:23:24 > 7:23:26- # Lovely to meet you... # - Great, great.
7:23:26 > 7:23:28# Because we are here... #
7:23:28 > 7:23:30- Just having a bit of quiet time in here.- # Yes... #
7:23:30 > 7:23:33- Shall we just do an interview? - OK then.
7:23:33 > 7:23:36Yeah, that probably could have gone better.
7:23:36 > 7:23:38Maybe I've not got what it takes to be on the show.
7:23:38 > 7:23:42But Gary is more than happy to help me work on my voice.
7:23:42 > 7:23:47If ever you're up early, and you've got that low voice thing, you know?
7:23:47 > 7:23:49Brrrrrrroooo!
7:23:49 > 7:23:51Go as high as you can, do that. Now.
7:23:51 > 7:23:52Brrrrrrroooo!
7:23:52 > 7:23:53Very good!
7:23:53 > 7:23:54And again.
7:23:54 > 7:23:56Brrrrrrroooo!
7:23:56 > 7:23:58Brrrrrrroooo!
7:23:58 > 7:24:00It really warms your voice up.
7:24:00 > 7:24:02So, Let It Shine, what's it all about?
7:24:02 > 7:24:04It's all about making a band.
7:24:04 > 7:24:07We're making a band who will eventually be in a musical.
7:24:07 > 7:24:09But, before they get there,
7:24:09 > 7:24:12they're going to be competing against other bands in our show.
7:24:12 > 7:24:14And what are you looking for with those bands,
7:24:14 > 7:24:15to make the actual show?
7:24:15 > 7:24:20We're looking for great singers, great movers, great performers.
7:24:21 > 7:24:24Great acting. And stamina.
7:24:24 > 7:24:26And people who can work as a team.
7:24:26 > 7:24:28And when you list all those things,
7:24:28 > 7:24:31- that's quite a job list, right there.- Right.
7:24:31 > 7:24:33But that's what our contestants need to have.
7:24:33 > 7:24:36# I got the eye of the tiger
7:24:36 > 7:24:40# A fighter, dancing through the fire
