0:00:51 > 0:00:52it's only Nikki Lilly!
0:00:52 > 0:00:54- Yay!- Hi, Nikki! - CHEERING AND APPLAUSE
0:00:54 > 0:00:57So, Nikki's going to be showing us how to make a pizza and a cake,
0:00:57 > 0:01:00- and we're going to be cooking them in one of these.- Really?- True.
0:01:00 > 0:01:02- A mug?- Keep watching to find out what's happening.- OK.
0:01:02 > 0:01:04As well as that, we'll be finding out
0:01:04 > 0:01:07what you lot thought about the Blue Peter Book Award nominees
0:01:07 > 0:01:08for the best book with facts.
0:01:08 > 0:01:10But first, though, you've read his books,
0:01:10 > 0:01:12you've seen him on Britain's Got Talent,
0:01:12 > 0:01:14he's even applied make-up to this face,
0:01:14 > 0:01:16but we won't hold it against him,
0:01:16 > 0:01:17it's Mr David Walliams!
0:01:17 > 0:01:20- Yay!- Thank you very much. - CHEERING AND APPLAUSE
0:01:20 > 0:01:22Hello, David. Welcome to BP.
0:01:22 > 0:01:23Thank you, it's very exciting.
0:01:23 > 0:01:25I've never been in the studio before.
0:01:25 > 0:01:27Have you not? And you're wearing a gold badge.
0:01:27 > 0:01:30Yes, I got a gold badge, which is very exciting,
0:01:30 > 0:01:32cos there's only been about ten or so given out, is that right?
0:01:32 > 0:01:35- Not many have been given out. - Not quite... A few more than 10.
0:01:35 > 0:01:36OK, when I got one, it was ten,
0:01:36 > 0:01:38they're obviously giving them out to anybody now.
0:01:38 > 0:01:42- I got this for swimming the Channel ten years ago.- Indeed. Incredible.
0:01:42 > 0:01:43And so I was very excited.
0:01:43 > 0:01:45It's one of my most prized possessions.
0:01:45 > 0:01:47So, David, you've gone from comedy and Britain's Got Talent,
0:01:47 > 0:01:49to writing some of the best-known children's books,
0:01:49 > 0:01:51how has it happened?
0:01:51 > 0:01:54Well, I just had an idea for a book one day.
0:01:54 > 0:01:57I thought, "What would happen if a boy went to school
0:01:57 > 0:01:58"dressed as a girl?
0:01:58 > 0:02:00"How will his friends react? How will his family react?"
0:02:00 > 0:02:02And that became the first book, The Boy In The Dress.
0:02:02 > 0:02:04It was really about what it is to be different.
0:02:04 > 0:02:08I loved writing it, and I just got on to writing more and more.
0:02:08 > 0:02:10Well, we love them, and we also love the characters,
0:02:10 > 0:02:12cos there's lots of cheeky young boys in your books.
0:02:12 > 0:02:14You mentioned Dennis, also Ben and Gangsta Granny,
0:02:14 > 0:02:16and, of course, Jack in your brand-new book,
0:02:16 > 0:02:18Grandpa's Great Escape.
0:02:18 > 0:02:20Are these based on a young David maybe?
0:02:20 > 0:02:22- I think so.- Where you a cheeky boy?
0:02:22 > 0:02:24Well, yeah, I just try and think back
0:02:24 > 0:02:26to, you know, when I was ten, 11 or 12,
0:02:26 > 0:02:30and the kind of things that I would have found funny or scary, whatever.
0:02:30 > 0:02:32And this book, Grandpa's Great Escape, is about a little boy, Jack,
0:02:32 > 0:02:35who has a very special relationship with his grandpa, which I did too.
0:02:35 > 0:02:37And just like in the book,
0:02:37 > 0:02:41his grandpa was a hero in World War II,
0:02:41 > 0:02:44there's pictures of my grandpa, actually, in the back of the book
0:02:44 > 0:02:46in his uniform.
0:02:46 > 0:02:48So that's my real grandpa.
0:02:48 > 0:02:52And it's really about them having a real-life adventure,
0:02:52 > 0:02:56much in the manner of, you know, in the style that Grandpa may have had
0:02:56 > 0:02:57in World War II.
0:02:57 > 0:03:00And actually, talking about the Spitfire that you can see there,
0:03:00 > 0:03:02we heard that, when researching this book,
0:03:02 > 0:03:05- you actually got to fly in a real Spitfire.- I did.
0:03:05 > 0:03:06I got the publishers to pay,
0:03:06 > 0:03:08- which was fantastic. - Oh, look, we can see it.
0:03:08 > 0:03:11- And, yeah, I actually went up in a Spitfire.- Look at that!
0:03:11 > 0:03:13Luckily, I'm not flying it, the pilot is flying it.
0:03:13 > 0:03:14I was going to say, wow!
0:03:14 > 0:03:17This is me doing a loop-the-loop, which was really exciting.
0:03:17 > 0:03:20- You look very calm.- Serene. - THEY LAUGH
0:03:20 > 0:03:21But I tell you, it's like...
0:03:21 > 0:03:23if you've ever driven in a sports car,
0:03:23 > 0:03:26it's like a sports car in the air.
0:03:26 > 0:03:28So when you get on a plane and you go on holiday,
0:03:28 > 0:03:30you know, they don't like to do dramatic turns and things,
0:03:30 > 0:03:32cos you'd get scared,
0:03:32 > 0:03:34whereas this is, like, it just turns like that,
0:03:34 > 0:03:37- and can dive down and then suddenly go up in a millisecond.- Ooh.
0:03:37 > 0:03:40- I feel queasy just thinking about it.- I want to do it.- Yeah.
0:03:40 > 0:03:42I was a bit. I was glad when it was over.
0:03:42 > 0:03:45It was about half an hour, and I was really glad it was over,
0:03:45 > 0:03:47but I wanted to experience what it was like cos I was writing about it.
0:03:47 > 0:03:50Well, obviously, you are a well-known children's author,
0:03:50 > 0:03:52so we are very excited to have you here, Radzi and I,
0:03:52 > 0:03:53we're not the only ones,
0:03:53 > 0:03:56because over the last two weeks - check this out -
0:03:56 > 0:03:58these are all the purple badge forms we've had sent in to us,
0:03:58 > 0:04:02and all of these people said they wanted to see you on the show.
0:04:02 > 0:04:04- Can you blame them? - THEY LAUGH
0:04:04 > 0:04:06Which we think is lovely.
0:04:06 > 0:04:08- Thank you.- So, we got in touch with some of them,
0:04:08 > 0:04:10- and we said, "What would you like to ask David?"- OK.
0:04:10 > 0:04:13So, we thought we'd try and work our way through some of those.
0:04:13 > 0:04:15- There's been so many, but we'll get through as many as we can.- OK.
0:04:15 > 0:04:17- And our first question is from Amy. - OK.- Right.
0:04:17 > 0:04:19If you had to choose,
0:04:19 > 0:04:22which is your favourite book you have written, and why?
0:04:22 > 0:04:25- What's my favourite book I've ever written?- Yeah.
0:04:25 > 0:04:28I'd say it's Harry Potter And The Philosopher's Stone.
0:04:28 > 0:04:29- That one was a classic. - LAUGHTER
0:04:29 > 0:04:32I let this other lady get all the credit for it,
0:04:32 > 0:04:34but it's my best seller.
0:04:34 > 0:04:38Erm, no, I think Mr Stink, which was my second book,
0:04:38 > 0:04:39is probably my favourite.
0:04:39 > 0:04:42It's got beautiful illustrations by Sir Quentin Blake.
0:04:42 > 0:04:43And the first book, The Boy In The Dress,
0:04:43 > 0:04:46was a little bit about me in a way,
0:04:46 > 0:04:50but this second book, Mr Stink, was just purely from my imagination
0:04:50 > 0:04:55and I think it's a sweet story
0:04:55 > 0:04:58about, you know, how we treat other people.
0:04:58 > 0:05:02With kindness, we treat people who are less fortunate than ourselves.
0:05:02 > 0:05:05- Mm-hm.- And this next question is from Jessica.- OK.
0:05:05 > 0:05:08Would you rather eat a rat burger or a spider burger?
0:05:08 > 0:05:12Oh, rat burger or spider burger?
0:05:12 > 0:05:13- Uh... Ooh... - What do you want to eat?
0:05:13 > 0:05:17Uh, I'm not too scared of spiders,
0:05:17 > 0:05:19but I wouldn't like to eat them.
0:05:19 > 0:05:21- Um...- Rats on the other hand - yum.
0:05:21 > 0:05:23I wouldn't really like to eat a rat either. Probably a rat,
0:05:23 > 0:05:28because it's probably the closest thing to beef of the two.
0:05:28 > 0:05:30- Of the two options.- Sure. Fair enough.
0:05:30 > 0:05:31- But it's a good question. - Fair enough.
0:05:31 > 0:05:34- Andrew has got a more serious one, I think.- OK.- OK.
0:05:34 > 0:05:38If you were going on a long train journey,
0:05:38 > 0:05:40which book would you take to read,
0:05:40 > 0:05:41and why?
0:05:41 > 0:05:42So clear.
0:05:42 > 0:05:44If I was going on a long train journey, which book?
0:05:44 > 0:05:46- I mean, any book?- Yes.- Anything.
0:05:46 > 0:05:49- Let's open it up. - So, not one of my own books?
0:05:49 > 0:05:51Well, I love Roald Dahl.
0:05:51 > 0:05:54He is really my hero, he wrote so many brilliant books,
0:05:54 > 0:05:56and, for me, it's always a treat.
0:05:56 > 0:05:59Cos I read them as a kid, but to read them as a grown-up,
0:05:59 > 0:06:00it's always a treat to go back to them.
0:06:00 > 0:06:02So, I'd probably pick one of his,
0:06:02 > 0:06:04- and I think the funniest one is The Twits.- Yeah.
0:06:04 > 0:06:06Cos I love the characters of Mr and Mrs Twit,
0:06:06 > 0:06:08so I'd probably read that one again
0:06:08 > 0:06:10for basically probably the hundredth time now.
0:06:10 > 0:06:12- Love it.- OK, it's Lucy next.
0:06:12 > 0:06:14If you were a biscuit,
0:06:14 > 0:06:16what type would you be and why?
0:06:16 > 0:06:20- A biscuit.- If I was a biscuit, what type would I be?
0:06:20 > 0:06:23Well, a very big and not very tasty biscuit by the look of me.
0:06:23 > 0:06:27Well, I like biscuits with things in the middle,
0:06:27 > 0:06:30like Jammie Dodgers and Custard Creams and Bourbons,
0:06:30 > 0:06:31and things like that, so something with...
0:06:31 > 0:06:33- You know, I like...- A creamy middle.
0:06:33 > 0:06:37Almost sort of like a sandwich with some jam inside or...
0:06:37 > 0:06:39Custard creams, I'm not sure it's actual custard,
0:06:39 > 0:06:41but whatever it has inside, I like that stuff.
0:06:41 > 0:06:43Whatever it is, it's delicious. Do we have time for one more?
0:06:43 > 0:06:45- Go on, let's do it. - Let's have Becky.
0:06:45 > 0:06:47If you were Gangsta Granny,
0:06:47 > 0:06:49where would you steal from,
0:06:49 > 0:06:50and what would you take?
0:06:50 > 0:06:54- If I was Gangsta Granny, what would I steal?- Yeah.
0:06:54 > 0:06:57Well, in the story, she steals the Crown Jewels
0:06:57 > 0:07:00from the Tower of London, which would be very exciting, wouldn't it?
0:07:00 > 0:07:01So I wouldn't mind doing that.
0:07:01 > 0:07:06Um... I would try and steal the most valuable thing in the world.
0:07:06 > 0:07:09- A Blue Peter Gold badge. - You've already got a Gold badge.
0:07:09 > 0:07:11A Gold badge, I've already got one.
0:07:11 > 0:07:13Um, I don't know, maybe Fort Knox, which is in America,
0:07:13 > 0:07:15where all the gold is stored.
0:07:15 > 0:07:18So I'd probably try and steal that.
0:07:18 > 0:07:20It's not good to talk about stealing...
0:07:20 > 0:07:22- Well, thanks for your honesty. - ..on a children's show, is it?
0:07:22 > 0:07:26- It's good to know.- Yes, I would steal lots of gold!- OK. Great.
0:07:26 > 0:07:29David, are you happy to stick around for later on in the show?
0:07:29 > 0:07:30HE SIGHS
0:07:30 > 0:07:31- THEY LAUGH - Oh, no!
0:07:31 > 0:07:34- This could get really awkward.- Yes, I would absolutely love to.- Phew!
0:07:34 > 0:07:36- I would love to.- Fantastic.
0:07:36 > 0:07:37Well, listen, we are so lucky
0:07:37 > 0:07:40to have so many brilliant, talented authors in the UK,
0:07:40 > 0:07:42just like David Walliams,
0:07:42 > 0:07:44and, of course, one of the most prestigious awards
0:07:44 > 0:07:46they can possibly win is the BP Book Award.
0:07:46 > 0:07:48Have a look at this.
0:07:49 > 0:07:50Over the last few months,
0:07:50 > 0:07:53our young judges have had their head buried in the nominations
0:07:53 > 0:07:56for this year's Blue Peter Book Awards.
0:07:56 > 0:07:58So, if you've got a yearning for some learning,
0:07:58 > 0:08:01our fact category is for you.
0:08:01 > 0:08:04But don't take my word for it, what do these guys think?
0:08:06 > 0:08:08We kick it off... Ha-ha, get it?
0:08:08 > 0:08:09..with Football School
0:08:09 > 0:08:12by Alex Bellos and Ben Lyttleton,
0:08:12 > 0:08:14and illustrations by Spike Gerrell.
0:08:14 > 0:08:16It's packed with awesome true stories,
0:08:16 > 0:08:19real science, and fascinating facts
0:08:19 > 0:08:21that will make you laugh out loud.
0:08:23 > 0:08:25Football school is my favourite book,
0:08:25 > 0:08:27because of all the amazing facts in it.
0:08:27 > 0:08:29I think the jokes are hilarious.
0:08:29 > 0:08:33Some of the jokes in it were unexpected,
0:08:33 > 0:08:35but then funny as well.
0:08:35 > 0:08:40Like, you have ones about poo, or going to the toilet.
0:08:40 > 0:08:41I love all the quizzes in it,
0:08:41 > 0:08:45cos you learn more things every time you read it.
0:08:45 > 0:08:47The facts are quite astonishing,
0:08:47 > 0:08:50but some of them are quite disgusting.
0:08:50 > 0:08:53I'd recommend it to people who love football,
0:08:53 > 0:08:55and to people who are not sure on it,
0:08:55 > 0:08:57because you can learn new stuff.
0:08:58 > 0:09:00Next, it's Survivors by David Long,
0:09:00 > 0:09:03and it's illustrated by Kerry Hyndman.
0:09:04 > 0:09:07Full of incredible real-life stories of extreme survival
0:09:07 > 0:09:10from people who lived to tell the tale.
0:09:10 > 0:09:12Be prepared to be shocked and amazed.
0:09:13 > 0:09:16It's full of facts, and it's very inspiring.
0:09:16 > 0:09:20It's just incredible that they can survive like that,
0:09:20 > 0:09:22and it shows that humans can do anything.
0:09:22 > 0:09:28I like one of the stories about a girl who her plane crashes
0:09:28 > 0:09:30and she has to go through a jungle.
0:09:30 > 0:09:33I can't even get out of bed, so I don't know how she did that.
0:09:33 > 0:09:37I thought the pictures were very detailed and cartoony,
0:09:37 > 0:09:39but they were also very realistic as well.
0:09:39 > 0:09:40It's full of interesting stories,
0:09:40 > 0:09:44and it's great for anyone who likes adventures or anyone who doesn't.
0:09:44 > 0:09:46And last but not least,
0:09:46 > 0:09:48we've got Destination Space

0:09:57 > 0:10:00where you'll learn more about the science behind stars,
0:10:00 > 0:10:03planets, and comets in our sky.
0:10:04 > 0:10:09I never knew that, every minute of the day, the universe expands.
0:10:09 > 0:10:15I think the pictures are inspiring, interesting, and lifelike.
0:10:15 > 0:10:18I would recommend it to anyone, even if you don't like space,
0:10:18 > 0:10:21because, if you don't like space, this would teach you a lot about it.
0:10:21 > 0:10:26In Destination Space, the pictures make the book the book,
0:10:26 > 0:10:28so, if there was no pictures, it wouldn't be a book.
0:10:28 > 0:10:32So, that's what our young judges think of the fact book nominees,
0:10:32 > 0:10:34but who will win?
0:10:34 > 0:10:36Well, I don't know why I'm asking myself, I've got no idea.
0:10:42 > 0:10:45This is one of those moments I wish we had smell-evision.

0:11:17 > 0:11:20- Is that a cooking term, "pop"? - Yeah.- Pop your flour.
0:11:20 > 0:11:22- Well, it's a Nikki term.- OK. - I don't know if it's a cooking term.
0:11:22 > 0:11:25That's a new thing. You've got to do Nikki terms on your vlog.
0:11:25 > 0:11:27- That would be amazing.- Along with your other dry ingredients,
0:11:27 > 0:11:31meaning the baking soda and the pinch of salt.
0:11:31 > 0:11:34- And the salt. - And then add in your milk.- Mm-hm.
0:11:36 > 0:11:37And your oil.
0:11:37 > 0:11:40So you can put them all in and just give it a good mix.
0:11:40 > 0:11:42- OK. And this is the base, isn't it?- Yes.
0:11:42 > 0:11:44Now, obviously, we're going to fly through this,
0:11:44 > 0:11:46but you can take your time when you're making this pizza base.
0:11:46 > 0:11:48- Exactly.- OK, so once I've made the pizza base...
0:11:48 > 0:11:50Yeah, so, once you've done that,
0:11:50 > 0:11:54you want to add in a generous scoop of tomato base sauce.
0:11:54 > 0:11:56Generous, that must be one of my favourite words
0:11:56 > 0:11:57when it comes to food.
0:11:57 > 0:12:00- OK, generous.- Yeah. So, you can add a scoop of that.- Yes.
0:12:00 > 0:12:03And you can use any bolognese, or pasta base
0:12:03 > 0:12:07or just tomato base sauce, really, it's not really very constricted,
0:12:07 > 0:12:08OK. Good.
0:12:08 > 0:12:09And then you can add in your cheddar cheese
0:12:09 > 0:12:12- which has all been grated. - Just like that.
0:12:12 > 0:12:14And then we've got pepperoni,
0:12:14 > 0:12:16but you can pop on any toppings you want.
0:12:16 > 0:12:19So just pop your pepperoni on top as well.
0:12:19 > 0:12:21I you tell you what, not just a superstar vlogger,
0:12:21 > 0:12:23- you could be a cool presenter as well.- Thank you.
0:12:23 > 0:12:25- All right, fabulous. Done, pizza made.- Yeah, that's that.
0:12:25 > 0:12:28- OK. So, that's pizza, you're making cake.- Yes.- What do you need to do?
0:12:28 > 0:12:31So, I've already melted the white chocolate and the butter.
0:12:31 > 0:12:36- Yes.- So, now what I'm going to do is add in my caster sugar, flour.
0:12:36 > 0:12:39I'll try and do this without making too much of a mess.
0:12:39 > 0:12:41It's all good, make as much mess as you like.
0:12:41 > 0:12:43Again, all the ingredients are going to be online,
0:12:43 > 0:12:44if you want to see how to make this.
0:12:44 > 0:12:48- Baking powder, and then my egg.- Yes.
0:12:50 > 0:12:53And then I'm going to mix this up.
0:12:53 > 0:12:55So I'm going to give it a little mix,
0:12:55 > 0:12:58but this bit takes a while,
0:12:58 > 0:13:01so I've already got one
0:13:01 > 0:13:04which I've already mixed up and made earlier.
0:13:04 > 0:13:06So, what I'm going to do with this mix
0:13:06 > 0:13:08- is just pop in my blueberries.- Yeah.
0:13:08 > 0:13:09And just give it a little shake
0:13:09 > 0:13:12so that they all sort of sink into the cake slightly.
0:13:12 > 0:13:14- Beautifully done.- And that's ready.
0:13:14 > 0:13:16And that's it. So, here we have two mug dishes -
0:13:16 > 0:13:17- one pizza, one cake.- Yes.
0:13:17 > 0:13:19Into the microwave.
0:13:19 > 0:13:21Now, we have a 700 watt microwave here,
0:13:21 > 0:13:23so timings may vary depending on how powerful your microwave is,
0:13:23 > 0:13:25but we are going to go for what?
0:13:25 > 0:13:28- One minute 30?- One minute 30, yes. I think that's about right.
0:13:28 > 0:13:31All Right. And three, two, one, go.
0:13:31 > 0:13:33OK, so, while they are cooking,
0:13:33 > 0:13:36let's talk about this episode of My Life, Born To Vlog.
0:13:36 > 0:13:38In fact, I tell you what, you can do the honours.
0:13:38 > 0:13:43Yeah, so, I was on an episode of My Life called Born To Vlog,
0:13:43 > 0:13:46and it's basically just about my life, vlogging,
0:13:46 > 0:13:47and why I got into it.
0:13:47 > 0:13:50The crew come with me to Denver,
0:13:50 > 0:13:52and filmed me in Denver showing what it's like
0:13:52 > 0:13:54when I go for medical treatment there.
0:13:54 > 0:13:56And they just followed me around, really,
0:13:56 > 0:13:59in the highs and lows of my life, and it was amazing.
0:13:59 > 0:14:01So I think it's going to be a good episode to watch.
0:14:01 > 0:14:03Well, here it is, a little sneak peak.
0:14:03 > 0:14:07For the last four years, I've been uploading vlogs.
0:14:07 > 0:14:09Hi, it's Nikki from Nikki Lilly.
0:14:09 > 0:14:12Well, hello, everybody.
0:14:12 > 0:14:16I've got a little operation at Great Ormond Street Hospital,
0:14:16 > 0:14:19which is a children's hospital in England
0:14:19 > 0:14:22if you guys don't know that, it's quite famous.
0:14:22 > 0:14:24So, I'm going to do a set of observations on you, OK?
0:14:24 > 0:14:26- Yes.- So, you could probably do it yourself, couldn't you?
0:14:26 > 0:14:29But I will get it all out for you anyway.
0:14:31 > 0:14:33I've been to hospital a lot.
0:14:33 > 0:14:37I've had probably about half a year of my life spent in hospital,
0:14:37 > 0:14:40and I've had over 300 hospital appointments.
0:14:40 > 0:14:44So, altogether, that's about 26, 27 operations.
0:14:44 > 0:14:46- Is Daddy there?- Yeah, he is. - There he is.
0:14:46 > 0:14:49Nikki is in pain pretty much every day,
0:14:49 > 0:14:52but she kind of gets on with it really,
0:14:52 > 0:14:53takes it in her stride.
0:14:53 > 0:14:57She's just pretty amazing really.
0:14:57 > 0:15:00What was it like having a film crew following you around like that?
0:15:00 > 0:15:04It was really strange, because I vlog myself out and about,
0:15:04 > 0:15:06but cos I do it myself,
0:15:06 > 0:15:08it was really weird to have someone else, like, filming me
0:15:08 > 0:15:11just in my daily life doing it. But it was quite exciting as well,
0:15:11 > 0:15:13cos I'd never really experienced something like that.
0:15:13 > 0:15:15MICROWAVE BEEPS It looks it. Oh, perfect timing.
0:15:15 > 0:15:18- That was the perfect length of answer, Nikki.- Yes, thank you.
0:15:18 > 0:15:19So, you know the drill here -
0:15:19 > 0:15:21if you're getting hot stuff out of a microwave
0:15:21 > 0:15:22- or a oven for that matter... - Use oven gloves.
0:15:22 > 0:15:24- Oven gloves, please, look after yourself.- Ooh.
0:15:24 > 0:15:27BARNEY LAUGHS That is the one, right there.
0:15:27 > 0:15:28Very exciting.
0:15:28 > 0:15:31Now, unfortunately, even though I want to dive headfirst into that,
0:15:31 > 0:15:34you can't eat stuff out of the microwave straightaway,
0:15:34 > 0:15:36it's still cooking, you've got to leave it for two minutes.
0:15:36 > 0:15:39- We don't have time for that, do we? - No.- We're busy showbiz people.
0:15:39 > 0:15:41- Let's use the power of telly.- OK. - One, two, three.
0:15:50 > 0:15:52- Oh, the magic of telly. It's good that, isn't it?- Yes.
0:15:52 > 0:15:54- OK, you try my pizza, I'll try your cake.- Ooh.
0:15:54 > 0:15:57I know somebody else who's going to like this. Lindsay, in you come.
0:15:57 > 0:16:00- Hello. Yes, there's cake!- If you want to see My Life, Born To Vlog,
0:16:00 > 0:16:02- by the way, it's still on iPlayer, kids.- Oh, it's hot!- It is hot.
0:16:02 > 0:16:04And also, Radzi and I had a go at making these yesterday,
0:16:04 > 0:16:06it didn't go quite as well as this,
0:16:06 > 0:16:07but you can see that in our vlog online as well.
0:16:07 > 0:16:10- Nikki, thank you so much for being here.- Thank you for having me.
0:16:10 > 0:16:11- MOUTH FULL:- This is amazing!- Sorry.
0:16:11 > 0:16:14While I eat this and cool my mouth down, have a look at what happened
0:16:14 > 0:16:17- when Radzi and I tried our hand at golf? Yummy!- It's good!
0:16:17 > 0:16:18Thank you.
0:16:19 > 0:16:22We've come to a very special golf club in Watford for another
0:16:22 > 0:16:25Blue Peter Challenge. I've got a golf ball.
0:16:25 > 0:16:28All I need now is a tee to put it on.
0:16:28 > 0:16:31Well, Radzi, you are in luck.
0:16:31 > 0:16:33No, Linds, a... One of these.
0:16:34 > 0:16:35I know.
0:16:37 > 0:16:39Yeah, so my golfing knowledge isn't great,
0:16:39 > 0:16:43but this game is over 500 years old and, in that time,
0:16:43 > 0:16:46golf has developed a language all of its own.
0:16:48 > 0:16:52- Now, some of the clubs are called irons...- That's right. Hello.
0:16:52 > 0:16:54No, Linds, they're, erm... This is an iron.
0:16:54 > 0:16:57- And some are known as woods. - That's right.
0:16:57 > 0:17:00No, this is a wood.
0:17:00 > 0:17:03And one is even called a sand wedge.
0:17:03 > 0:17:06- Cheese ploughman's.- No.
0:17:08 > 0:17:10I think I need some help.
0:17:10 > 0:17:14Well, you're in luck, Linds. Let me introduce you to two of the
0:17:14 > 0:17:19country's best golfers - pro superstars Charley Hull
0:17:19 > 0:17:22and Andrew "Beef" Johnston.
0:17:22 > 0:17:24What is the very first thing we need to know?
0:17:24 > 0:17:27First thing we'll probably do is start off with the grip.
0:17:27 > 0:17:29You can't control how you hit the ball
0:17:29 > 0:17:31unless you hold the club correctly.
0:17:31 > 0:17:35- All right, first thing you do is left hand on top.- OK.- Like that.
0:17:35 > 0:17:39That's it. And then right hand comes on, connects, and then you can
0:17:39 > 0:17:43- put your little finger over the top of that finger like that.- Oh, wow.
0:17:43 > 0:17:45Or you can put them in between, whatever's more comfortable.
0:17:45 > 0:17:48- That?- Yeah, so more in between, there.- Ooh.
0:17:48 > 0:17:52- OK.- Yeah, there you go.- That's the grip sorted. What comes next?
0:17:52 > 0:17:54For me, it's all about the stance.
0:17:54 > 0:17:58The stance - how you stand when you hit the ball.
0:17:58 > 0:18:00Without the right stance,
0:18:00 > 0:18:01you don't stand a chance.
0:18:02 > 0:18:06- First of all, put your feet together.- Oh, together?- Yes.
0:18:06 > 0:18:09- OK, right.- And then move your left foot a little bit to the left.- OK.
0:18:09 > 0:18:12And then your right foot, like, triple the distance to the right.
0:18:12 > 0:18:17- So actually, my centre of balance is behind where the ball will be.- Yeah.
0:18:17 > 0:18:19That's a game-changer.
0:18:19 > 0:18:25- Grip sorted, stance sorted, what happens next?- Time to hit the ball.
0:18:29 > 0:18:30That went a long way.
0:18:32 > 0:18:35In golf, the way you hit the ball is called your swing,
0:18:35 > 0:18:38something Charley just made look so easy.
0:18:39 > 0:18:42HE GRUNTS
0:18:42 > 0:18:46No. 'Wow. It's amazing how difficult we're making this look'.
0:18:46 > 0:18:49Where is it?
0:18:49 > 0:18:51Just practise clipping the blue tee on the practice swing.
0:18:51 > 0:18:54- Without the ball there? - Yeah, without the ball.
0:18:56 > 0:18:58Yeah, like that, and then give it a go with the ball,
0:18:58 > 0:19:02so you're trying to just hit the same spot every time.
0:19:02 > 0:19:06'Now I have a feel for where I'm aiming, things start to improve'.
0:19:07 > 0:19:09- Shot.- Whoo!
0:19:12 > 0:19:14'I actually can't believe I hit it'.
0:19:15 > 0:19:19'So Lindsey can actually hit it now. Charley, I need some help.'
0:19:19 > 0:19:22Just good posture, get your stance good,
0:19:22 > 0:19:24and just feel confident in your swing.
0:19:26 > 0:19:28- Oh, good, Radz.- Good strike.
0:19:30 > 0:19:32'Mum, look at that!'
0:19:32 > 0:19:35- A-ha-ha!- That was a really good strike!- 'I liked that one.'
0:19:36 > 0:19:40Well, that's lucky, because the golf doesn't end there, Radzi.
0:19:40 > 0:19:44As day becomes night, this place transforms into TopGolf.
0:19:45 > 0:19:48Like normal golf, but hi-tech.
0:19:48 > 0:19:51It's the perfect place for our next head-to-head challenge.
0:19:54 > 0:19:57TopGolf is played around the world, and players earn points
0:19:57 > 0:20:01by getting their ball into different parts of a target.
0:20:01 > 0:20:05Now, today, we're each going to have ten balls, and the winner is
0:20:05 > 0:20:09the person that gets the most points from that yellow target.
0:20:09 > 0:20:11I love this challenge.
0:20:11 > 0:20:15The yellow target we're aiming for has been split into nine parts,
0:20:15 > 0:20:19and you can only score points on each section once.
0:20:20 > 0:20:25But we're not playing alone. I'm teaming up with The Beef.
0:20:25 > 0:20:30And I'm being joined by Charley. It's time to do our swing.
0:20:30 > 0:20:32'Me first. Watch me, Linds.'
0:20:34 > 0:20:36Look, I see it!
0:20:36 > 0:20:38Oh! Oh!
0:20:38 > 0:20:40'Yeah, still watching, Radz.'
0:20:40 > 0:20:44'OK, so no points for me. Come on, Charley, I'm keeping the faith.'
0:20:44 > 0:20:47Oh, beautiful. Get in the nine! 'It's not nine, but it's a five.
0:20:47 > 0:20:49'We'll take it.'
0:20:49 > 0:20:51'OK, my turn'. Oh, way too far.
0:20:51 > 0:20:53'Yeah, miles past the target.'
0:20:54 > 0:20:59- Oh, you! Go! - 'Beef! What a start!'
0:21:00 > 0:21:03'Me again.' No, it's not going to be a nine.
0:21:03 > 0:21:04It's not even going to be in.
0:21:04 > 0:21:07'OK, didn't hit the target, I'm just warming up.
0:21:07 > 0:21:12'Come on, Charley, I believe in you. You can keep us in this.
0:21:12 > 0:21:15'That's what I'm talking about! We lead 14-9.'
0:21:16 > 0:21:18Oh, it's a beauty!
0:21:18 > 0:21:22- It's something. - Yeah, yeah.- It's a six!
0:21:22 > 0:21:24'Back in the lead.'
0:21:24 > 0:21:28'No-one scores for a full round, until Beef is back.'
0:21:31 > 0:21:33- It's an eight, isn't it? - He's got the eight!
0:21:33 > 0:21:36'Yes! That gives us a nine-point lead.'
0:21:36 > 0:21:38'Can we come back from this?
0:21:40 > 0:21:43'Charley picks up another two points.'
0:21:46 > 0:21:48'But Beef gets another one as well.'
0:21:50 > 0:21:52'So, with one more round to go,
0:21:52 > 0:21:55Lindsey's team leads 24-16.'
0:21:56 > 0:21:57We can still win this.
0:21:57 > 0:21:59I would ideally get an eight or a seven,
0:21:59 > 0:22:02or just on target. Think eight.
0:22:02 > 0:22:07Be great. No, just go in! Stay in. Stay in. Stay in, oh!
0:22:07 > 0:22:11'Come on, Charley. Get an eight and we can draw. I believe in you.
0:22:11 > 0:22:14'Keep the faith.' Come on, eight! Come on, eight! Come on, eight!
0:22:15 > 0:22:17'Oh, it's a one! Not enough!'
0:22:17 > 0:22:20'Yes! The title's ours.'
0:22:20 > 0:22:23- We did it!- Yes, we did.- I could not have done it without this man.
0:22:23 > 0:22:24You were amazing.
0:22:24 > 0:22:28- Actually, do you guys have a spare pair of trousers with you?- What?- No.
0:22:28 > 0:22:31I thought all golfers brought one, in case you got a hole in one.
0:22:31 > 0:22:33Cos you get the... Better than a birdie, cos...
0:22:33 > 0:22:35- Come on. - You get the ball, and it...
0:22:38 > 0:22:40- Golf pro.- So much fun. - Beat you, Radz.
0:22:40 > 0:22:43Beefy and Charley, thank you very much,
0:22:43 > 0:22:45and good luck for the 2017 PGA Tour. You guys are legends.
0:22:45 > 0:22:48And thanks for being so patient with us. We are the worst golfers ever.
0:22:48 > 0:22:50- Someone who's scored a birdie... - Nice link.
0:22:50 > 0:22:53..speaking of golf, is Ollie from Cheshire.
0:22:53 > 0:22:55Have a look at this. He's done his very own nature booklet.
0:22:55 > 0:22:57It's got loads of facts, loads of great pics.
0:22:57 > 0:23:02- If I open it up, look at the colours on this parrot.- Wow.- Amazing.
0:23:02 > 0:23:04Ollie, my friend, you have got a green badge. Well done.
0:23:04 > 0:23:05Take a look at Maham's Iggy,
0:23:05 > 0:23:08- and look what happens when you pull Iggy's tongue.- Oh, my goodness.
0:23:08 > 0:23:10"Blue Peter is the best," under the ears, like that.
0:23:10 > 0:23:13Maham, you're a genius. You've got a Blue Peter badge. Well done.
0:23:13 > 0:23:15And so does Emi, because feast your eyes on what she made -
0:23:15 > 0:23:18two dolls of Lindsey and Barney, carved by her own hands,
0:23:18 > 0:23:20- not to mention... - That little face.
0:23:20 > 0:23:23..the one that I've got in my hand, with my green matching top,
0:23:23 > 0:23:25so you have a silver badge. Well done, Emmy.
0:23:25 > 0:23:27We love to hear from you. Thank you so much.
0:23:27 > 0:23:29Keep your stuff coming in to the usual address, please.
0:23:29 > 0:23:31Now it's time to announce the fan of the month,
0:23:31 > 0:23:34and someone special to do just that, so please welcome back Nikki.
0:23:34 > 0:23:37Yay! In you come, Nikki.

0:23:38 > 0:23:40Tell us - who is fan of the month?
0:23:40 > 0:23:43So the fan of the month this month is...
