0:02:31 > 0:02:35# On such a winter's day. #

0:02:37 > 0:02:39- RADZI'S VOICEOVER:- I'm in California

0:02:39 > 0:02:42in the middle of the greatest challenge of my life,

0:02:42 > 0:02:45training to perform a skydive routine with the RAF Falcons,

0:02:45 > 0:02:48for Children In Need.

0:02:48 > 0:02:50Let's jump out of a plane.

0:02:50 > 0:02:54Last time, I performed my first-ever skydive.

0:02:54 > 0:02:57Wow! Wow!

0:02:57 > 0:03:00But I failed the next stage of my training course.

0:03:00 > 0:03:03- So, we'll have to repeat that one again.- OK.

0:03:03 > 0:03:05Right. First one failed. Got to get back up. Two.

0:03:05 > 0:03:09It means the schedule is so tight.

0:03:09 > 0:03:12Under the watchful eye of my instructor, Tony,

0:03:12 > 0:03:15I have to pass my course in the remaining two days.

0:03:15 > 0:03:19To get back on schedule, I've got to get it right and pass this level.

0:03:21 > 0:03:23Since then, I've completed more jumps,

0:03:23 > 0:03:28and managed five out of the seven levels of my training.

0:03:28 > 0:03:32But, to perform with the Falcons, I need to pass all of them...

0:03:34 > 0:03:39..if I'm going to freefall for Children In Need.

0:03:47 > 0:03:52Over the last few days, I've been falling from 12,000 feet

0:03:52 > 0:03:54over and over again.

0:03:54 > 0:03:57Every time I jump, I have to learn something new,

0:03:57 > 0:04:00and it keeps getting harder and harder.

0:04:02 > 0:04:05I'm not going to lie to you, I'm actually really scared about this

0:04:05 > 0:04:10because this is the first time I'm jumping out of the plane on my own.

0:04:15 > 0:04:17Up until now, when I've jumped out of the plane,

0:04:17 > 0:04:21Tony's been with me. Now, I need to do it alone.

0:04:21 > 0:04:25And then perform a 360-degree turn.

0:04:25 > 0:04:26Check in!

0:04:26 > 0:04:28- OK. - INDISTINCT COMMAND

0:04:33 > 0:04:35- VOICEOVER:- Straightaway, something feels wrong.

0:04:38 > 0:04:42I'm falling far too quickly.

0:04:42 > 0:04:44I'm trying so hard not to panic.

0:04:48 > 0:04:51Tony uses all of his experience to catch up with me

0:04:51 > 0:04:54and, when he does, I complete my 360 turns.

0:04:56 > 0:04:59Then I make another mistake.

0:05:03 > 0:05:06My legs get trapped beneath him, which sends us out of control.

0:05:08 > 0:05:12I'm running out of time, I need to pull my parachute fast.

0:05:16 > 0:05:17No!

0:05:17 > 0:05:20- VOICEOVER:- That was terrifying.

0:05:21 > 0:05:25To make matters worse, if Tony feels I didn't complete everything,

0:05:25 > 0:05:29he could fail it, and my dream will be over.

0:05:31 > 0:05:33I know I did something wrong.

0:05:35 > 0:05:39He takes me to a special analysis room to go through what I did.

0:05:41 > 0:05:44As I left the plane, my body position was all wrong,

0:05:44 > 0:05:47causing me to fall too quickly.

0:05:47 > 0:05:50Your body needs to be turned that way,

0:05:50 > 0:05:52so we should see the back of you, yeah, and the parachute.

0:05:52 > 0:05:55So, remember, the air's coming this way, so, that's what takes you,

0:05:55 > 0:05:57catches the surface air, and then turns you 180.

0:05:57 > 0:05:59So, you've come out a little bit flat.

0:06:00 > 0:06:03You're going straight down, because you're going fast.

0:06:05 > 0:06:07Tony explains how the spin happened.

0:06:07 > 0:06:09OK, so, at this point now, that position's good.

0:06:09 > 0:06:12You'd just turned underneath me.

0:06:12 > 0:06:14- See what you've done there? - So, that's caused me to spin.

0:06:14 > 0:06:18- VOICEOVER:- I could have thrown away all my hard work

0:06:18 > 0:06:20with two simple errors.

0:06:20 > 0:06:22Is it all over?

0:06:22 > 0:06:23It's your first one.

0:06:23 > 0:06:26Not many people can go out and hit their first exit

0:06:26 > 0:06:28and stay stable and come straight down.

0:06:28 > 0:06:31But, all achieved, tick, VG, well done.

0:06:31 > 0:06:34- VOICEOVER:- Amazingly, I pass.

0:06:34 > 0:06:39Despite the mistakes, I actually completed the moves I needed to.

0:06:39 > 0:06:40Good, that's perfect.

0:06:40 > 0:06:41That's really, really good.

0:06:41 > 0:06:44- Yeah, really good. 360 round, good.- Yes!

0:06:46 > 0:06:48And round we go. So, that's really good, very good.

0:06:49 > 0:06:53It's really knocked me for six, just how mentally exhausting it is

0:06:53 > 0:06:56to try and get yourself up, and to focus on something which,

0:06:56 > 0:06:57to do on the ground is fine.

0:06:57 > 0:07:00You could probably do it right now, we've heard it so many times,

0:07:00 > 0:07:01you could probably do it.

0:07:01 > 0:07:04But, in the air, with so much going on,

0:07:04 > 0:07:07and your body is almost trying to trick you into not doing it.

0:07:07 > 0:07:09It's tough.

0:07:09 > 0:07:12But, um, yeah, it's rest time now.

0:07:20 > 0:07:23We're just heading back to the airfield and, by the end of today,

0:07:23 > 0:07:29I'm going to find out if I've passed or failed my course.

0:07:31 > 0:07:35Now I need to demonstrate all the skills I've learned.

0:07:35 > 0:07:38If I don't have total control over myself,

0:07:38 > 0:07:42I could risk mine and the Falcons' safety.

0:07:43 > 0:07:45Tony needs to know that's not going to happen.

0:07:47 > 0:07:50I can't say how important this next jump is.

0:07:50 > 0:07:55It's my final training jump and, if I fail, my challenge is over.

0:07:56 > 0:08:00My most complex jump starts with a backflip.

0:08:00 > 0:08:04Then I need to do two 360-degree turns,

0:08:04 > 0:08:08finally moving forwards, and backwards, through the air.

0:08:08 > 0:08:11To do all this before pulling my parachute,

0:08:11 > 0:08:14I don't have time to make any more mistakes.

0:08:16 > 0:08:19Everything rests on the next few moments.

0:08:23 > 0:08:25- Check in!- Check out!

0:08:25 > 0:08:27Out, in!

0:08:28 > 0:08:31- VOICEOVER:- Straightaway, I lose control.

0:08:31 > 0:08:33I have to stay calm.

0:08:35 > 0:08:37Gradually, I manage to steady myself,

0:08:37 > 0:08:40and prepare for my mid-air moves.

0:08:46 > 0:08:48I start with a backflip.

0:08:50 > 0:08:53One 360-turn, followed by another.

0:08:55 > 0:08:59I show that I can drift through the air, backwards and forwards.

0:09:01 > 0:09:03And finally release my parachute.

0:09:06 > 0:09:08I am so happy with that.

0:09:08 > 0:09:11Yeah!

0:09:11 > 0:09:13We landed it, on our feet!

0:09:13 > 0:09:15Do you know what?

0:09:15 > 0:09:18I don't know if I've passed or failed.

0:09:19 > 0:09:23But it doesn't get much better than that. It doesn't. Ah!

0:09:25 > 0:09:31From the very first moment, I've given my training everything.

0:09:31 > 0:09:34I've learned so much.

0:09:34 > 0:09:36I've loved it.

0:09:36 > 0:09:39I just don't want it to end here.

0:09:39 > 0:09:42- Hi, Radzi.- Hey.- How did it go?

0:09:42 > 0:09:44I thought it went well.

0:09:44 > 0:09:47- I made some mistakes.- OK.- Um...

0:09:47 > 0:09:49But your voice doesn't suggest good news.

0:09:49 > 0:09:51You've had a tough few days.

0:09:51 > 0:09:52The weather's not been the greatest,

0:09:52 > 0:09:55you've had cloud, a bit of rain, we've had to hold.

0:09:55 > 0:09:57You've landed back with the aircraft because we couldn't get out

0:09:57 > 0:09:59because of the cloud. It's been tough.

0:10:01 > 0:10:03But I'm very pleased to say you have passed.

0:10:04 > 0:10:08- Well done.- Have I really?- Really good. Yeah, really, really good.

0:10:08 > 0:10:09It's time to jump with the Falcons.

0:10:09 > 0:10:12- I'm actually going to be jumping with the Falcons?- Yes.

0:10:12 > 0:10:14- Oh, man!- Well done.

0:10:14 > 0:10:17I'm so proud of what I've achieved,

0:10:17 > 0:10:21but, deep down, I know the real challenge and the reason I'm here

0:10:21 > 0:10:23is still to come.

0:10:25 > 0:10:30Next week, can I hold my own and perform a freefall skydive routine

0:10:30 > 0:10:32with some of the best in the world?

0:10:32 > 0:10:35One mistake, and I could ruin everything.

0:10:35 > 0:10:39For Children In Need can I fly like a Falcon?

0:10:40 > 0:10:43CHEERING AND APPLAUSE

0:10:44 > 0:10:48Best Blue Peter challenge I have ever been a part of.

0:10:48 > 0:10:51And the amazing news, the news that makes me so relieved is that,

0:10:51 > 0:10:55on next week's show, you'll get to see me actually perform

0:10:55 > 0:10:57with the RAF Falcons! Hey!

0:10:57 > 0:11:01Those guys are absolutely incredible.

0:11:01 > 0:11:04Make sure you do not miss our Children In Need spectacular.

0:11:04 > 0:11:06However, we still need your help because,

0:11:06 > 0:11:11feast your eyes on the freefall map of destiny we've got here.

0:11:11 > 0:11:13Every single spot you see here

0:11:13 > 0:11:15is a parachute which you have sent in to us.

0:11:15 > 0:11:18Just like Florence from Hertfordshire.

0:11:18 > 0:11:22And if you get in really close, you can see a perfect silhouette

0:11:22 > 0:11:25of me having the time of my life,

0:11:25 > 0:11:27flying through the air with a parachute over my head.

0:11:27 > 0:11:29And, I never get to say this,

0:11:29 > 0:11:33somebody from Wolverhampton has sent in a parachute,

0:11:33 > 0:11:36and her name is Emily, and it says, "Radzi rules".

0:11:36 > 0:11:38Emily, thank you so much.

0:11:38 > 0:11:40And, just like those two legends,

0:11:40 > 0:11:43we want your parachute to become a part of our parachute.

0:11:43 > 0:11:46How? The answer is very, very easy.

0:11:46 > 0:11:49All you have to do is download and print out this form here.

0:11:49 > 0:11:53Decorate and go absolutely creatively crazy in this section.

0:11:53 > 0:11:56Cut out the pledge slip and stick that on the back,

0:11:56 > 0:11:58and send it to us at the usual address.

0:11:58 > 0:12:01Just remember, the closing date is the 15th of November

0:12:01 > 0:12:04because, on the following day, we'll be turning all of your parachutes

0:12:04 > 0:12:07into a giant parachute. It's going to look incredible.

0:12:07 > 0:12:10And we're going to do something very, very special indeed.

0:12:10 > 0:12:15But if only we had two CBBC vets with perhaps their own parachute...

0:12:15 > 0:12:19Rory and Cheryl, hello! And you've got parachutes in hand.

0:12:19 > 0:12:21- That's right.- Talk us through these.

0:12:21 > 0:12:23These are all my pets. I've decorated them.

0:12:23 > 0:12:26- So, Cerys, Gordon and Bags, the best cat ever.- Love it.

0:12:26 > 0:12:30- And Rory, what about yourself?- I went for the four of us on the show.

0:12:30 > 0:12:35- Um, I have forgotten something a little bit important, though.- Um...

0:12:35 > 0:12:37- Can you see it?- Ah. Two things are missing.

0:12:37 > 0:12:40- Yeah, I forgot Cheryl's arms. - It happens.

0:12:40 > 0:12:44If you'd like to stick it on our map in the place you guys come from.

0:12:44 > 0:12:48I guess it's from vets to pets. Lindsey.

0:12:48 > 0:12:49That's right. Now, as we all know,

0:12:49 > 0:12:51Children In Need is all about helping others.

0:12:51 > 0:12:53And, luckily, here on Blue Peter,

0:12:53 > 0:12:56we know someone very special who does just that.

0:12:56 > 0:12:59So, please welcome back to BP, Iggy and her owner Callum!

0:12:59 > 0:13:01WHOOPING

0:13:01 > 0:13:03Yes! They're clapping you!

0:13:03 > 0:13:06Guys, welcome to Blue Peter. Cal, we haven't seen you in a while.

0:13:06 > 0:13:10- So, what have you guys been up to? - So much stuff.

0:13:10 > 0:13:12- I've started uni.- Wow.

0:13:12 > 0:13:16She's getting used to walking around a new area, getting me to uni.

0:13:16 > 0:13:19Obviously, that involves a lot of work which is always fun.

0:13:19 > 0:13:22- Just everything. She's loving a new area.- Walking around campus.

0:13:22 > 0:13:24Getting me around campus, yeah, she's good at that.

0:13:24 > 0:13:26She just chills out while I work.

0:13:26 > 0:13:27And she loves hanging around with friends.

0:13:27 > 0:13:30And your girlfriend. Taking her out for coffees, all the rest of it.

0:13:30 > 0:13:33- So, she's having a little rest in the studio today.- Yeah.

0:13:33 > 0:13:34She's done her work getting you here.

0:13:34 > 0:13:36- A nice, deserved rest. - Yeah, exactly.

0:13:36 > 0:13:40Have you ever wondered what makes Iggy such an amazing guide dog?

0:13:40 > 0:13:44To be honest, yeah, I have. I know they need to be calm and everything.

0:13:44 > 0:13:47- Yeah, I have wondered. - Well, let's find out more.

0:13:47 > 0:13:49Please welcome back our vets, Rory and Cheryl!

0:13:49 > 0:13:51Come on in. APPLAUSE

0:13:51 > 0:13:54Oh, another standing ovation from Iggy.

0:13:54 > 0:13:57So, guys, what is it that makes Iggy such a special dog?

0:13:57 > 0:14:01Well, Iggy is a Labrador golden retriever cross

0:14:01 > 0:14:04- and, as we know, she's super-intelligent.- She is.

0:14:04 > 0:14:08And, obviously, like you said, she's got a really calm temperament

0:14:08 > 0:14:11and that's really important to make her easy to train.

0:14:11 > 0:14:14She's stretching out like a frog, apparently.

0:14:14 > 0:14:16It's not just her calm temperament

0:14:16 > 0:14:18- that makes such a special dog, is it?- No.

0:14:18 > 0:14:20She's obviously super-chilled

0:14:20 > 0:14:22but, underneath that, she's got super, super senses.

0:14:22 > 0:14:25So, we all know that dogs can't quite see the same colours we can.

0:14:25 > 0:14:28But, actually, they've got this thing at the back of their eyes

0:14:28 > 0:14:31- called tapetum lucidum. A big word.- Uh-oh! Big word alert!

0:14:31 > 0:14:33Don't really need to know what that means,

0:14:33 > 0:14:35but, essentially, it reflects light back at the retina,

0:14:35 > 0:14:38and it allows them to see in really low-light conditions

0:14:38 > 0:14:40- much better than humans.- Amazing.

0:14:40 > 0:14:42And what about her sense of smell?

0:14:42 > 0:14:44She's got the good nose on her, hasn't she, Cal?

0:14:44 > 0:14:46Oh, yeah, super nose.

0:14:46 > 0:14:48If I've got treats or her food, she knows straightaway.

0:14:48 > 0:14:50She knows when it's dinner time.

0:14:50 > 0:14:53- Why is that?- Well, actually, dogs have an amazing sense of smell,

0:14:53 > 0:14:57and it's estimated to be 10,000 times better than that of people.

0:14:57 > 0:15:00Whoa! Look at her little nose twitching there.

0:15:02 > 0:15:05Yeah, the nose functions by these things called olfactory receptors,

0:15:05 > 0:15:08which are little chemoreceptors that pick on the particles.

0:15:08 > 0:15:12And, actually, humans, we have about 40 million in our noses.

0:15:12 > 0:15:15These guys have over 300 million.

0:15:15 > 0:15:18- Oh, wow, that is a super nose, isn't it?- Yeah.

0:15:18 > 0:15:22And let's talk a little bit about her hearing. Because, Iggy, Iggs!

0:15:22 > 0:15:25- Ah, she does pay attention sometimes.- Selective hearing.

0:15:25 > 0:15:28It's selective hearing, exactly, Callum.

0:15:28 > 0:15:31There is probably a more official term for it, though, isn't there?

0:15:31 > 0:15:34Yes. Well, actually, puppies are born deaf,

0:15:34 > 0:15:37and they can't hear anything for the first three weeks of their life.

0:15:37 > 0:15:38- Really?- Yep, that's true.

0:15:38 > 0:15:41But, once their sense of hearing has developed,

0:15:41 > 0:15:44then, they can hear things four times louder than we can as humans.

0:15:44 > 0:15:46We all knew that Iggy was very cute,

0:15:46 > 0:15:49but who knew how perfectly designed she was to do her job?

0:15:49 > 0:15:51So, well done, Iggy.

0:15:51 > 0:15:53Now, from our perfect pooch to your perfect post,

0:15:53 > 0:15:55- shall we go and have a look at the Big Badge Wall, Cal?- Yes.

0:15:55 > 0:15:58- Come on, I'll lead the way. - Come on, Iggs.- Come on!

0:15:59 > 0:16:03And that is what I call a Blue Peter Big Badge Wall.

0:16:03 > 0:16:07Look at that colour, and look what Sophie from Kent has sent in.

0:16:07 > 0:16:09Me, flying through the air,

0:16:09 > 0:16:13as a part of my Children In Need challenge, and loving life.

0:16:13 > 0:16:15By the way, the reason I'm so happy is because,

0:16:15 > 0:16:18on next week's show, you're going to get to see me perform

0:16:18 > 0:16:21with the RAF Falcons for our Children In Need spectacular!

0:16:21 > 0:16:24Hopefully I do the business. Callum, what have you spotted, my friend?

0:16:24 > 0:16:26- I'll do a happy dance. - He's doing a happy dance.

0:16:26 > 0:16:27- Yeah.- You crack on, Cal.- Yes.

0:16:27 > 0:16:31Well, I've got to show you this one. Harmony from Hull has done this.

0:16:31 > 0:16:33It's a huge 3D Blue Peter badge.

0:16:33 > 0:16:36And the cool thing about this it is there's loads of different materials

0:16:36 > 0:16:39what she's done it out of. So, you can feel it.

0:16:39 > 0:16:41There's fabric, velvet, sequins.

0:16:41 > 0:16:43You've got sequins, it's very Strictly, isn't it?

0:16:43 > 0:16:46Yeah, a well-earned silver badge for this one, I think.

0:16:46 > 0:16:49- Today's show has been "turtle" chaos, people.- Nice.

0:16:49 > 0:16:51See what I did there? It's actually a tortoise. It doesn't really work.

0:16:51 > 0:16:56However, what does work is the artwork, the detail, the dedication.

0:16:56 > 0:16:59Claudia, you're a legend and you've got yourself a silver badge.

0:16:59 > 0:17:01Have a look at this, it's from Holly.

0:17:01 > 0:17:05She has sent us in, it's Iggy, in puppy form, the Super Dog.

0:17:05 > 0:17:09We're loving it, all the letters of Iggy are made out of little puppies.

0:17:09 > 0:17:12We're loving it. Holly, well done, you've earned your badge.

0:17:12 > 0:17:15Look, Iggy is very impressed by that.

0:17:15 > 0:17:18Sophie, I have no idea how you made this, but all I do know is that

0:17:18 > 0:17:23this is something that Bear Grylls would be proud. Just look at this.

0:17:23 > 0:17:25The detail, the lifelikeness.

0:17:25 > 0:17:28- You've even made a booklet. This is all about Africa.- Wow!

0:17:28 > 0:17:30Sophie, I love your work. You've earned yourself a blue badge,

0:17:30 > 0:17:32well done, you.

0:17:32 > 0:17:35And last but not least, check this out, it is from Jessica.

0:17:35 > 0:17:38She has sent these tiny, little models.

0:17:38 > 0:17:40Radzi's hair, by the way, phenomenal,

0:17:40 > 0:17:42that must have taken you a long time.

0:17:42 > 0:17:44Jessica, they're tiny and beautiful. We love them.

0:17:44 > 0:17:46Iggy, are you impressed by those?

0:17:47 > 0:17:52Yeah! Oh. Standing ovation from Iggy. Well done.

0:17:52 > 0:17:53Yes, Linds.

0:17:53 > 0:17:55Thank you to every single one of you who sent in post

0:17:55 > 0:17:58and got it on the Big Badge Wall.

0:17:58 > 0:18:00And don't forget, if you can see your post on here,

0:18:00 > 0:18:03you have earned a BP badge which can get you, ahem,

0:18:03 > 0:18:06into the over 200 attractions across the UK, Cal and Iggy...

0:18:06 > 0:18:09ALL: # For free! #

0:18:09 > 0:18:12- Iggy wagged her tail. She was wagging along.- Joining in.

0:18:12 > 0:18:15Cal and Igg, it's been so good to have you here.

0:18:15 > 0:18:18- Thank you for coming in.- Thanks for having us back, it's great.

0:18:18 > 0:18:19Now, of course, our Children In Need Special

0:18:19 > 0:18:23is exactly this time next week so, make sure you're watching.

0:18:23 > 0:18:25And, in the meantime, I went to find out

0:18:25 > 0:18:28just one way Children In Need is changing lives.

0:18:30 > 0:18:33So, there's a reason Radzi is throwing himself out of a plane

0:18:33 > 0:18:35and that is for Children In Need.

0:18:35 > 0:18:38Last year, they raised £60 million.

0:18:38 > 0:18:41So, I've come to see how some of that money is making a difference.

0:18:41 > 0:18:43And I won't be jumping out of a plane.

0:18:46 > 0:18:50This is the Aerobility project at Blackbushe Airport in Hampshire.

0:18:51 > 0:18:55The charity gives young people with a range of disabilities

0:18:55 > 0:18:58the chance to take to the skies in one of their small aircraft.

0:19:00 > 0:19:02Young people like Julian and James,

0:19:02 > 0:19:04who have both completed a course that allowed them to learn

0:19:04 > 0:19:08all about flying, and spend time in the air.

0:19:09 > 0:19:11- Hi, guys. How are you doing? - Not bad.- Good.

0:19:11 > 0:19:13It's good to meet you. You look very cool, by the way,

0:19:13 > 0:19:15just hanging out in a plane.

0:19:15 > 0:19:17Let's talk about Aerobility.

0:19:17 > 0:19:20What exactly is it, and why did you guys sign up and join?

0:19:20 > 0:19:24Um, well, it's a charity that helps people with disabilities to fly.

0:19:24 > 0:19:29So, it just allows anybody who might have a physical or mental disability

0:19:29 > 0:19:33to just get in a plane and get up there and have fun, really.

0:19:33 > 0:19:36And why do you think projects like this are so important?

0:19:36 > 0:19:41It gives people their independence,

0:19:41 > 0:19:47and you get to meet so many friendly people.

0:19:47 > 0:19:49I've got brittle bones, so I break my bones very easily.

0:19:49 > 0:19:52I've broken my legs a lot.

0:19:52 > 0:19:56So, when I got in this plane here, it allowed me to fly,

0:19:56 > 0:19:58but I don't actually need to use my legs

0:19:58 > 0:20:01because of the different adaptations they've put in here.

0:20:01 > 0:20:04I would love to get involved, so can I get in the plane?

0:20:04 > 0:20:07Well, not yet. Before you hit the runway, I think it's worth

0:20:07 > 0:20:08giving you a go in the simulator.

0:20:10 > 0:20:12- Shall we get going? - Er, yeah. I trust you.- OK.

0:20:14 > 0:20:16Those who fly with Aerobility

0:20:16 > 0:20:19often get to take control of the plane for themselves.

0:20:19 > 0:20:22So, time in a simulator lets them prepare

0:20:22 > 0:20:24for when that special moment arrives.

0:20:26 > 0:20:28So, have you landed a real plane before?

0:20:28 > 0:20:32Um, I have with the assistance of an instructor.

0:20:32 > 0:20:35- That's so cool, to say you can do that.- Yeah, it's brilliant.

0:20:35 > 0:20:39- No-one can ever tell you you can't do something, can they?- No, no.

0:20:39 > 0:20:43Someone who is at the very start of his journey with the project

0:20:43 > 0:20:47is Louis who has just joined. And today, I'm going to ride with him.

0:20:48 > 0:20:53Louis, here we are. Have you ever been in a plane that tiny before?

0:20:53 > 0:20:55No, I haven't been in one this small before.

0:20:55 > 0:20:58- You look a bit nervous. Are you nervous?- A little bit.- A little bit.

0:20:58 > 0:21:00- But excited as well? - Yeah, yeah, really excited.

0:21:00 > 0:21:03- Shall we go get in?- Yep. - Let's do it. Lead the way.

0:21:03 > 0:21:06These planes have been adapted with specialist equipment,

0:21:06 > 0:21:08and pilots like JJ are experts

0:21:08 > 0:21:12at working with those who have a disability.

0:21:12 > 0:21:14Points, Alpha, ready for departure.

0:21:14 > 0:21:17- Louis, we're about to take off. Are you excited?- Yeah, definitely.

0:21:17 > 0:21:20- CONTROL TOWER:- Runway two-five, take off at your discretion.

0:21:23 > 0:21:27- How are you doing in front, Louis? - Yeah, good, good.

0:21:28 > 0:21:29Really good.

0:21:29 > 0:21:33- Would you like to fly a plane on your own one day?- Yeah, I think so.

0:21:33 > 0:21:35I think I'd like to do that.

0:21:35 > 0:21:39So, obviously, JJ, you've taken so many people up. What's it like?

0:21:39 > 0:21:42What's it that you love so much about your job?

0:21:42 > 0:21:43It must be so rewarding.

0:21:43 > 0:21:47It's a freedom that they may not have realised that they can have.

0:21:47 > 0:21:50Do you see a real change in the people afterwards?

0:21:50 > 0:21:53Yes. Their confidence.

0:21:53 > 0:21:56Not just in flying, but in everyday activities.

0:21:56 > 0:21:58"If I can fly, what else can I do?"

0:22:00 > 0:22:03Then, for Louis, it's the moment he's been waiting for.

0:22:03 > 0:22:07- Do you want to have a little go? - Yeah.- OK, you have control, sir.- OK.

0:22:07 > 0:22:10Give it a nice, little turn to the right there for me.

0:22:10 > 0:22:14- That's it. Very smooth controls there, very nice.- Yep.

0:22:14 > 0:22:18- How good does that feel? - That's really, really good.

0:22:18 > 0:22:20- Captain Louis! Sounds good.- Yep.

0:22:24 > 0:22:26So, Louis, what would you say to other people

0:22:26 > 0:22:28who are thinking of giving flying a go?

0:22:28 > 0:22:33I'd say, do it, because it is definitely worth it.

0:22:33 > 0:22:36Can you see the runway, on the left there?

0:22:36 > 0:22:38- Yep.- Yeah, that's the one we'll be landing on.

0:22:38 > 0:22:40- CONTROL TOWER:- Zero-zero-four, runway two-five,

0:22:40 > 0:22:41landing at your discretion.

0:22:41 > 0:22:44LINDSEY'S VOICEOVER: For many people, this is something

0:22:44 > 0:22:46they would never get the chance to experience...

0:22:46 > 0:22:47Here we go.

0:22:47 > 0:22:52..and it's been wicked to see Louis absolutely loving it.

0:22:52 > 0:22:55- How good is that? - That was really, really good.

0:22:57 > 0:23:00Today has been absolutely incredible.

0:23:00 > 0:23:03And this project is changing lives because it's focusing

0:23:03 > 0:23:05on what people can do rather than what they can't do.

0:23:05 > 0:23:08And, thanks to the money raised by Children In Need,

0:23:08 > 0:23:11all the kids that come here have shown they can do anything

0:23:11 > 0:23:12if they put their minds to it.

0:23:14 > 0:23:17Louis was actually the best pilot. What a plane ride to go on as well.

0:23:17 > 0:23:20- It was really fun.- Do you know what? Talking about planes,

0:23:20 > 0:23:22I'm not going to stop reminding you about this all show.

0:23:22 > 0:23:26Make sure you're watching next week's show where I will jump

0:23:26 > 0:23:28- out of a plane with the RAF Falcons. - I cannot wait for that.

0:23:28 > 0:23:31In the meantime, Rory and Cheryl are still here

0:23:31 > 0:23:34- to answer some viewers' questions, aren't you?- We are indeed.- Yeah.

0:23:34 > 0:23:36Let's do it, let's rock and roll with Millie and Fred.

0:23:36 > 0:23:39This is Meanie, our rescue cat.

0:23:39 > 0:23:41We love him and we've been wondering...

0:23:41 > 0:23:44Do cats only see in black and white?

0:23:44 > 0:23:46And, if so, how can you tell?

0:23:46 > 0:23:51I need those PJs! What a great question. Thanks, Millie and Fred.

0:23:51 > 0:23:55- It's actually a myth cats and dogs can only see in black and white.- Ah.

0:23:55 > 0:23:57So, we know by examining the backs of their eyes

0:23:57 > 0:23:59where they have special photoreceptors,

0:23:59 > 0:24:02little cells that are called rods and cones.

0:24:02 > 0:24:04And humans have four sets of rods and cones,

0:24:04 > 0:24:07and cats and dogs have two sets of rods and cones.

0:24:07 > 0:24:10- That is a good fact, isn't it? - I want more questions, please.

0:24:10 > 0:24:11Charlotte.

0:24:11 > 0:24:16Hello, I'm Charlotte and I want to know why hamsters

0:24:16 > 0:24:18spend a long time on their wheel?

0:24:18 > 0:24:20Hi, Charlotte, great question. Um...

0:24:20 > 0:24:24So, hamsters, we keep them in cages, but, in the wild,

0:24:24 > 0:24:28they would actually be running about looking for food at night, OK?

0:24:28 > 0:24:31They can actually run up to five miles in one night. Can you imagine?

0:24:31 > 0:24:34- One hamster? - One hamster, five miles.- Wow!

0:24:34 > 0:24:36- Can you imagine trying to do that in a cage?- No.

0:24:36 > 0:24:39- That's why you need a wheel.- Oh, of course.- It's like us on a treadmill.

0:24:39 > 0:24:41- Exactly.- Keeps them fit, keeps them happy.

0:24:41 > 0:24:44Emily and Charlotte have got a question. Go for it, girls.

0:24:44 > 0:24:48- Hi. I'm Emily.- And I'm Charlotte. - And we would like to know

0:24:48 > 0:24:50why dogs have wet noses?

0:24:50 > 0:24:54I'd like to know if I can have all of those puppies, more to the point.

0:24:54 > 0:24:57So cute. Thanks, Emily and Charlotte.

0:24:57 > 0:25:00Well, dogs can't sweat like people can.

0:25:00 > 0:25:04So, they have wet noses to lose heat, to keep them nice and cool.

0:25:04 > 0:25:06And they also get little sweaty pads,

0:25:06 > 0:25:08so they lose heat through their pads as well.

0:25:08 > 0:25:10- You get that before a show, sweaty palms.- Nervous.

0:25:10 > 0:25:13- I also have a runny nose, but that's because I've got a cold.- Stop it.

0:25:13 > 0:25:14HE SNIFFS No, no.

0:25:14 > 0:25:15Karina!

0:25:15 > 0:25:19Hi, my name is Karina, and this is Georgie, and she's a girl.

0:25:19 > 0:25:22And I really want to become a vet when I'm older.

0:25:22 > 0:25:25What is the strangest animal you've ever treated?

0:25:25 > 0:25:29Well, Karina, firstly, definitely be a vet when you're older,

0:25:29 > 0:25:31or a Blue Peter presenter.

0:25:31 > 0:25:33- Both very good jobs, both fun. - Excellent.

0:25:33 > 0:25:37Yeah, and so, for me, I treated an iguana last year.

0:25:37 > 0:25:41That was really quite cool. We don't see many. And he's fine, he's fine.

0:25:41 > 0:25:44- But he had a bit of a bad leg. - OK.- Aw.

0:25:44 > 0:25:47- One final question, please? - I love this.

0:25:47 > 0:25:50Hello, I'm Ben, and I have a pet chicken.

0:25:50 > 0:25:53I wonder why they have combs on their heads?

0:25:53 > 0:25:56That's the best one yet. He's actually holding a chicken.

0:25:56 > 0:25:58- I like his tie. - Phenomenal, phenomenal.

0:25:58 > 0:26:01- Good tie, wasn't it? - Very smart, very smart.

0:26:01 > 0:26:02What a cool chicken.

0:26:02 > 0:26:05Well, that's a little bit similar to the dogs and cats

0:26:05 > 0:26:06with their wet noses.

0:26:06 > 0:26:10So, chickens tend to lose heat through their combs on their head.

0:26:10 > 0:26:12And actually, they also use it for mating.

0:26:12 > 0:26:15They attract a mate by having a really big comb on the head

0:26:15 > 0:26:17- and it's all puffed up and looking good.- Amazing.

0:26:17 > 0:26:18Well, guys, thank you so much for being here.

0:26:18 > 0:26:21- Round of applause for Rory and Cheryl!- Yeah!

0:26:21 > 0:26:23We want to do that every week, a pet section at the end.

0:26:23 > 0:26:25- I love factoids. - Before you go anywhere,

0:26:25 > 0:26:27- I think it's time for a sneak peek, isn't it?- I think so.

0:26:27 > 0:26:31I think we should look at episode one, series two, of the Pets Factor.

0:26:31 > 0:26:35- Right here, CBBC, starting on the 20th of November.- Amazing.

0:26:35 > 0:26:36- Run VT!- Yeah!

0:26:38 > 0:26:39He's got quite a large bladder.

0:26:39 > 0:26:41I'm actually going to try and express that.

0:26:41 > 0:26:43If I can just pop him over to you, just put a hand on him

0:26:43 > 0:26:46- just to make him feel a little bit more comfortable.- All right.
