7:32:58 > 7:33:01- Hello!- Welcome to Blue Peter,

7:33:01 > 7:33:04and, boy, do we have a whopper of a show for you today.

7:33:16 > 7:33:19- Jedward have a new series called Jedward's Big Adventure!- Woo!

7:33:19 > 7:33:21That is them "wooing" by the way.

7:33:21 > 7:33:28- Big Adventure!- And that got us thinking. If you had an adventure,

7:33:28 > 7:33:31- what would it be? - What would yours be, Rads?

7:33:31 > 7:33:35I'd go white-water rafting in New Zealand and bungee jumping.

7:33:35 > 7:33:38That'd be a fun one. I think I would go for a scary one.

7:33:38 > 7:33:42I'd face my fears and go scuba diving with whales.

7:33:42 > 7:33:44- That would be a hard one. - It would be a hard one.

7:33:44 > 7:33:47Whatever yours is, head to the website:

7:33:47 > 7:33:51Let us know what would be your Big Adventure and why?

7:33:51 > 7:33:56We'll read out as many comments as we can towards the end of the show.

7:33:56 > 7:33:59- Yes, let's walk and talk. - Let's do it.

7:33:59 > 7:34:02It's the new year, it's 2014, but some things that don't change

7:34:02 > 7:34:05are the quality of the posts that you at home send in.

7:34:05 > 7:34:09- This is by Joseph, Daniel and Benedict.- This is unbelievable.

7:34:09 > 7:34:12It's a calendar. They started it in the summer

7:34:12 > 7:34:15and just look at the detail on that.

7:34:15 > 7:34:19They've got spring, St Patrick's Day, Easter, it's all there.

7:34:19 > 7:34:22- Well done.- Absolutely, well done. Fantastic work.

7:34:22 > 7:34:26That is so good. We've got this one from Ella, a drawing of Jedward.

7:34:26 > 7:34:29- Look at the hair!- There it goes!

7:34:29 > 7:34:31Here they are! It's the real Jedward!

7:34:31 > 7:34:33John, do your forfeit, doing a forfeit.

7:34:33 > 7:34:35Oh!

7:34:35 > 7:34:38Remember, guys, don't do that at home! Only Jedward can do that!

7:34:38 > 7:34:41It's not your zone yet! Go away, Jedward.

7:34:41 > 7:34:43We've got to control them.

7:34:43 > 7:34:46This is the best of 2013,

7:34:46 > 7:34:47it's all our best moments,

7:34:47 > 7:34:51and have a look at this Radzi. Don't want to rub it in but Lindsey wins.

7:34:51 > 7:34:54It's all in the past, Lindsey, it's all in the past!

7:34:54 > 7:34:57Now, this is by Charlotte, she's from Basingstoke,

7:34:57 > 7:35:00and look at this fantastic glass coaster she's made.

7:35:00 > 7:35:04- How has she done that?- She did it on holiday. How brilliant is that?

7:35:04 > 7:35:06Charlotte, well done.

7:35:06 > 7:35:10That is amazing. Thank you all so much for your posts,

7:35:10 > 7:35:13it's honestly one of the best bits of the job, thank you.

7:35:13 > 7:35:17You probably know this about me already but I'm sports mad.

7:35:17 > 7:35:21I've got a brand-new sport for you, disc golf.

7:35:21 > 7:35:23You may not have heard of it but here it is.

7:35:23 > 7:35:27Disc golf originated in the USA in the 1960s

7:35:27 > 7:35:30and has grown in popularity worldwide,

7:35:30 > 7:35:33with around 40 courses to play here in the UK.

7:35:33 > 7:35:35It's a mixture of Frisbee and golf

7:35:35 > 7:35:38where the players aim to send the disc from their starting tee

7:35:38 > 7:35:41into a basket in the fewest throws possible.

7:35:42 > 7:35:44How cool does that look?

7:35:44 > 7:35:48To explain more to us about the sport we have brothers Joe and Charlie.

7:35:48 > 7:35:51Welcome to Blue Peter!

7:35:51 > 7:35:55Now, boys, you've brought along with us three types of disc.

7:35:55 > 7:35:59I understand you use different discs as you get closer to the basket.

7:35:59 > 7:36:00- Is that correct?- Yes.

7:36:00 > 7:36:03What would be the first you use when you're furthest away?

7:36:03 > 7:36:08The driver, for very long distances, like, if you are on the tee.

7:36:08 > 7:36:11It's got a thin rim so it's very aerodynamic.

7:36:11 > 7:36:13Is that a little bit lighter?

7:36:13 > 7:36:16Yeah, it's lighter than usual cos I'm a bit younger.

7:36:16 > 7:36:20Then you use a disc called the mid-range. What would that be for?

7:36:20 > 7:36:27Well, you would throw it from about 70 metres from the basket

7:36:27 > 7:36:33and you would aim to get it near to it and not always in.

7:36:33 > 7:36:35Then what would you use, Charlie?

7:36:35 > 7:36:38A putter. It's a bit thicker, for more accurate shots

7:36:38 > 7:36:40when it's very close to the basket

7:36:40 > 7:36:42and this is what we'll be focussing on today.

7:36:42 > 7:36:45Let's focus on it today. You are the experts.

7:36:45 > 7:36:47So, there's the basket, just over there.

7:36:47 > 7:36:49How do I play this sport?

7:36:49 > 7:36:53OK, so, anyone can play it, you just need the right technique.

7:36:53 > 7:36:57So you have the disc in front and the power comes from the legs.

7:36:57 > 7:36:59So you need bendy legs.

7:36:59 > 7:37:01You want to go...push.

7:37:01 > 7:37:03As simple as that.

7:37:03 > 7:37:05So, push.

7:37:05 > 7:37:07Ooooh! OK.

7:37:07 > 7:37:10You both make this look so easy. Look at that!

7:37:10 > 7:37:11What shall I focus on this time?

7:37:11 > 7:37:14You should focus on the middle pull

7:37:14 > 7:37:18so when you're releasing, you have to try and shake hands

7:37:18 > 7:37:20with the basket.

7:37:20 > 7:37:25Pick a point on the basket and just, like, stick with it.

7:37:25 > 7:37:26Pick a point...

7:37:29 > 7:37:33Ooh! It was the rim. I'm getting there, boys, I am getting there.

7:37:33 > 7:37:36Now, the sport is something that actually runs in your family

7:37:36 > 7:37:40cos your dad is UK number one... and he's here today.

7:37:40 > 7:37:42Time to welcome to Blue Peter Chris!

7:37:42 > 7:37:45CHEERING

7:37:45 > 7:37:48We've invited you to Blue Peter for a very special reason.

7:37:48 > 7:37:49What's that reason?

7:37:49 > 7:37:52Today I'm going to be doing a world-record attempt

7:37:52 > 7:37:54to see how many discs I can get into the basket from ten metres.

7:37:54 > 7:37:58From ten metres. There's a minimum number for the world record.

7:37:58 > 7:38:00I've got to get 30 within one minute.

7:38:00 > 7:38:04- That's one every two seconds. - Yes. No pressure, of course(!)

7:38:04 > 7:38:06None at all(!) Do we think he can do it?

7:38:06 > 7:38:10- Yep.- Yeah.- Crew, do you think he can do it? ALL:- Yes.

7:38:10 > 7:38:14I think he can do it as well. We're keeping the faith, Chris. Stay tuned.

7:38:14 > 7:38:18It's guaranteed to be a nail-biter. Lindsey, back to you.

7:38:18 > 7:38:23Thank you. They've been practising all day. Massive good luck, Chris.

7:38:23 > 7:38:28That's happening in 19 minutes... Ooh! 18 minutes and counting!

7:38:28 > 7:38:30We are very excited about that.

7:38:30 > 7:38:32Have you been watching Stargazing Live?

7:38:32 > 7:38:35If not, the last episode of the series

7:38:35 > 7:38:37is tonight, BBC Two, at eight o'clock.

7:38:37 > 7:38:39Make sure you're watching because

7:38:39 > 7:38:43you'll see Dara O'Briain, as he experiences the type of acceleration

7:38:43 > 7:38:45you get in a space shuttle.

7:38:45 > 7:38:48Whoa, that's tough!

7:38:48 > 7:38:50Oh, wow!

7:38:50 > 7:38:52And speaking of space, I'm very jealous

7:38:52 > 7:38:56because this week Radzi got to go and meet a real-life astronaut.

7:38:56 > 7:38:58It's so unfair! Let's see how he got on.

7:39:02 > 7:39:07Commander Chris Hadfield of the Canadian Space Agency

7:39:07 > 7:39:09has been to space three times.

7:39:11 > 7:39:16He's spent just under six months in orbit, five months in one go,

7:39:16 > 7:39:21and he's clocked up 15 hours of space walks in his space suit.

7:39:21 > 7:39:27And we, Blue Peter, have come to meet the man himself

7:39:27 > 7:39:30and ask all of your questions.

7:39:34 > 7:39:39Ah... O-OK, w-we're not in space as such.

7:39:39 > 7:39:42We're, um...in the Royal Observatory, Edinburgh, actually,

7:39:42 > 7:39:46but we are going to answer your questions.

7:39:46 > 7:39:49Commander Hadfield, it's an absolute pleasure and privilege to meet you.

7:39:49 > 7:39:51Thanks, Radzi, it's really nice to see you.

7:39:51 > 7:39:56Once we told viewers we were meeting you, we got hundreds of questions.

7:39:56 > 7:39:59- Could we ask you a few of them now? - I'll do my best, sure.

7:39:59 > 7:40:02One from Star Breezy Banana says, "How does it feel in space?

7:40:02 > 7:40:05"Did you ever feel claustrophobic in your space suit?

7:40:05 > 7:40:08"And did the helmet ever get annoying?"

7:40:08 > 7:40:10When you're outside in a space suit

7:40:10 > 7:40:13it's probably one of the weirdest feelings in the world.

7:40:13 > 7:40:16You might feel claustrophobic because you're inside your suit,

7:40:16 > 7:40:20so you feel like you're closed in, but when you look through the visor,

7:40:20 > 7:40:22you are out in the universe,

7:40:22 > 7:40:26so you might feel the opposite of claustrophobic - agoraphobic -

7:40:26 > 7:40:28being afraid of wide-open spaces.

7:40:28 > 7:40:31I think it's possible maybe to feel claustrophobic -

7:40:31 > 7:40:36afraid of a small space - and afraid of a big space at the same time.

7:40:36 > 7:40:39Emerald Trombone Pelican says, "What is it like in space?

7:40:39 > 7:40:43"And if you burp, does it mess up your helmet?"

7:40:43 > 7:40:45In space, it's sort of like magic

7:40:45 > 7:40:48because you're floating and flying the whole time.

7:40:48 > 7:40:52It's like you have a superpower where you can fly.

7:40:52 > 7:40:55But one of the downsides is burping.

7:40:55 > 7:40:58Because if you think about how burping works,

7:40:58 > 7:41:00the gas is at the top of your stomach

7:41:00 > 7:41:03and the liquid and the solid, the food and drink,

7:41:03 > 7:41:05is at the bottom of your stomach

7:41:05 > 7:41:08and when you burp, you're getting the gas off the top of the stomach.

7:41:08 > 7:41:12If there's no gravity, the gas doesn't float to the top

7:41:12 > 7:41:15and the heavy stuff doesn't go to the bottom, so it's all mixed.

7:41:15 > 7:41:18If you try to burp in space, you'll actually throw up every time.

7:41:18 > 7:41:21Oh, wow, I didn't know that at all.

7:41:21 > 7:41:26Salmon Party Dolphin says, "Do you have a bedroom in a rocket?

7:41:26 > 7:41:28"And is there a comfy bed?"

7:41:28 > 7:41:31Without gravity, you never lie down.

7:41:31 > 7:41:32In fact, there's no down.

7:41:32 > 7:41:36So instead we have a sleeping bag that is just tied to the wall

7:41:36 > 7:41:40with a shoelace, and when it's bedtime, we put on pyjamas

7:41:40 > 7:41:43and then you sort of float down into the sleeping bag

7:41:43 > 7:41:45and it's got armholes in it.

7:41:45 > 7:41:49and now you're just barely tethered to the wall with a string,

7:41:49 > 7:41:51sort of like a balloon on a string,

7:41:51 > 7:41:54and you can relax every muscle in your body.

7:41:54 > 7:41:57You close the little door of your booth you're sleeping in.

7:41:57 > 7:42:00You don't need a pillow, you don't need to roll over.

7:42:00 > 7:42:03Just everything is perfectly relaxed.

7:42:03 > 7:42:06It's the best sleep of your whole life.

7:42:06 > 7:42:08I'd like to do that, actually.

7:42:08 > 7:42:11White Pancake Mango says, "You are my inspiration.

7:42:11 > 7:42:12"Did you always want to be an astronaut?

7:42:12 > 7:42:14"If you weren't an astronaut, what would you be?"

7:42:14 > 7:42:18I think it's important for people to remember that you're going to

7:42:18 > 7:42:21grow up to be something, whether you choose it or not.

7:42:21 > 7:42:23You're going to grow up to be something.

7:42:23 > 7:42:27I decided when I was nine years old that I wanted to be an astronaut

7:42:27 > 7:42:29so I started turning myself into one.

7:42:29 > 7:42:34All the little decisions, what book to read, what TV show will I watch,

7:42:34 > 7:42:37just sort of always thinking, "Someday maybe I'll be an astronaut

7:42:37 > 7:42:39"so I should know more about this."

7:42:39 > 7:42:41More about telescopes, all sorts of things.

7:42:41 > 7:42:45So I learned to be a scuba diver. I learned to be a pilot.

7:42:45 > 7:42:48I learned to be an engineer at university.

7:42:48 > 7:42:50I learned to speak other languages.

7:42:50 > 7:42:53I tried to do a lot of things that were fun and interesting

7:42:53 > 7:42:56and then maybe some day I'd also get to be an astronaut.

7:42:56 > 7:43:00Silver Tornado Pelican asks, "Who inspired you?"

7:43:00 > 7:43:04I find myself inspired by just about everybody that I talk to.

7:43:04 > 7:43:08You know lots of things I don't. You've been places I've never been.

7:43:08 > 7:43:11You can even talk to someone far younger than you

7:43:11 > 7:43:13and learn things from them

7:43:13 > 7:43:15so it's kind of a nice way to go through life.

7:43:15 > 7:43:17Be inspired by everybody that you meet.

7:43:17 > 7:43:19It was an absolute inspiration talking to you.

7:43:19 > 7:43:22You've done some incredible things in your life,

7:43:22 > 7:43:24- but have you got yourself a Blue Peter badge?- I don't.

7:43:24 > 7:43:30Well, it is my honour to present it to you. It's more than well deserved.

7:43:30 > 7:43:32Well, thank you very much, Radzi, that's really nice to have.

7:43:32 > 7:43:36I'll just keep this floating around in case we need it.

7:43:36 > 7:43:41MUSIC: Theme from "2001: A Space Odyssey"

7:43:41 > 7:43:43- Do you know what, that guy...? - So cool!

7:43:43 > 7:43:46Probably the most inspirational man I've ever met. Quality!

7:43:46 > 7:43:50Now, back in 2009, the likes of Olly Murs, Stacey Solomon,

7:43:50 > 7:43:54even Joe McElderry were all competing against a certain Irish duo

7:43:54 > 7:43:55for a record contract.

7:43:55 > 7:43:58That's right. Fast forward five years,

7:43:58 > 7:44:00and they're now the stars of their very own CBBC show.

7:44:00 > 7:44:05Let's have a look at how Jedward took over our telly screens.

7:44:05 > 7:44:07Twin brothers John and Edward Grimes

7:44:07 > 7:44:10burst onto television screens as contestants on the X Factor.

7:44:10 > 7:44:14Mentored by Louis Walsh, they finished sixth overall.

7:44:14 > 7:44:16Jedward went on to release three albums,

7:44:16 > 7:44:19Planet Jedward, Victory and Young Love.

7:44:19 > 7:44:22They've twice represented Ireland in the Eurovision Song Contest.

7:44:22 > 7:44:25Since then, they've become regular faces on CBBC,

7:44:25 > 7:44:27making appearances on Dani's Castle,

7:44:27 > 7:44:31as well as having their very own show, Jedward's Big Adventure.

7:44:31 > 7:44:35Their third series starts on 20th January on CBBC

7:44:35 > 7:44:38and it's going to be Jepic!

7:44:38 > 7:44:39And here they are now, it's Jedward!

7:44:39 > 7:44:41CHEERING

7:44:41 > 7:44:43Great to be here on Blue Peter.

7:44:43 > 7:44:45We love having you here on Blue Peter,

7:44:45 > 7:44:48and you guys love accessorising clothes.

7:44:48 > 7:44:51Yes. Always really creative, we always encourage creativity.

7:44:51 > 7:44:53This jacket we have on now is made by an awesome fan, it says

7:44:53 > 7:44:56- "When the sun comes..." - Do you know what it says?

7:44:56 > 7:44:59Says, we're going to be heroes, OK? Anyway, we like the jacket.

7:44:59 > 7:45:00We like pimping our clothes.

7:45:00 > 7:45:03It's a little bit sharp so there's a health and safety issue there

7:45:03 > 7:45:06- cos you keep banging into me, but I love it.- They're studs!

7:45:06 > 7:45:08It's really fun.

7:45:08 > 7:45:11It is fun, and we are going to be making a really cool thing today,

7:45:11 > 7:45:14we're going to be making some epic Jedward wristbands.

7:45:14 > 7:45:17All the stars are wearing them! Everybody wants these bracelets!

7:45:17 > 7:45:20- We'll teach you how to make them.- So easy and fun to make, aren't they?

7:45:20 > 7:45:23- If you have to wear a bracelet, this is the one.- This is the one.

7:45:23 > 7:45:26You are going to need some ringpulls, from a few cans.

7:45:26 > 7:45:28Close-up! Close-up!

7:45:28 > 7:45:31You'll need an old T-shirt or some shoelaces,

7:45:31 > 7:45:34and you'll also need some scissors and a bit of sandpaper.

7:45:34 > 7:45:35You guys are great models.

7:45:35 > 7:45:38No, wait! The exits are to the right, the left and the back,

7:45:38 > 7:45:40just in case it goes wrong.

7:45:40 > 7:45:43- We're not on a plane, we're in the Blue Peter studio.- I know, but...

7:45:43 > 7:45:46If you want to make them, all the details are on the website:

7:45:46 > 7:45:49- So shall we get started? - Let's get started.- Let's do it.

7:45:49 > 7:45:52What we need to do is get some ringpulls first.

7:45:52 > 7:45:55They might be a little bit sharp.

7:45:55 > 7:45:58First you need to get your sandpaper and just file them down.

7:45:58 > 7:46:00Don't throw away your can...

7:46:00 > 7:46:04- Re-use them!- Like, I think this is the best thing ever, OK?

7:46:04 > 7:46:07We actually bought our cousin something similar to this

7:46:07 > 7:46:10and she was freaking out. Friends asking, "where did you get this?"

7:46:10 > 7:46:12Now we're showing you how to make them.

7:46:12 > 7:46:15It means way more to people when you give them something you've made.

7:46:15 > 7:46:18Exactly! It's cool to make stuff, and you can personalise it,

7:46:18 > 7:46:20and use your own colours, really have fun with it.

7:46:20 > 7:46:23- And we're all bonding, hey! - We are all bonding.

7:46:23 > 7:46:27- It's the Jedward/Lindsey team. I love it.- We have sandpapered them.

7:46:27 > 7:46:30OK, now they're nice and safe - get an adult to help if you need.

7:46:30 > 7:46:34- Always ask an adult, or Jedward. - If we're in the neighbourhood!

7:46:34 > 7:46:37Then you need to line up your ringpulls.

7:46:37 > 7:46:39I've done mine so the bigger holes are at the top,

7:46:39 > 7:46:41and that'll make it a little bit easier for you.

7:46:41 > 7:46:44- Bigger holes at the top. - There you go, just like so.

7:46:44 > 7:46:47Then you need to get your old T-shirt and cut a strip out of it.

7:46:47 > 7:46:50I can't wait, this is like Jedward's Big Adventure.

7:46:50 > 7:46:53I can't wait to be wearing this on Jedward's Big Adventure.

7:46:53 > 7:46:55I'm, like, "Wait, look over there, that's an elephant!"

7:46:55 > 7:46:57But anyway, moving on...

7:46:57 > 7:47:00Back to the studio! The next thing you need to do is,

7:47:00 > 7:47:03once you've cut your T-shirt, make sure it's about 3cm wide

7:47:03 > 7:47:05and - I'm going to demonstrate on you -

7:47:05 > 7:47:08that it can go round your wrist with a little bit extra material

7:47:08 > 7:47:11- so that means you can tie it later. - It's just so easy.

7:47:11 > 7:47:13It's so easy and fun to make. They really are great.

7:47:13 > 7:47:18For people watching now who don't know who we are, we're Jedward.

7:47:18 > 7:47:19Can you stretch it?

7:47:19 > 7:47:22- What you need to do is stretch... - Moving on...

7:47:22 > 7:47:26..then your T-shirt will naturally go into a nice little curl,

7:47:26 > 7:47:29- like that.- These are ones I picked earlier. Red, green...

7:47:29 > 7:47:33Then you need to start weaving them through your ringpull.

7:47:33 > 7:47:36First, I'm going to go under and through, then I'm going to go over.

7:47:36 > 7:47:40- Under, over, under, like a wave. - Exactly.

7:47:40 > 7:47:43It's going to be the next biggest hit, under, over, under, over...

7:47:43 > 7:47:45Anyway. Moving on...

7:47:45 > 7:47:48You know what? I thought working with Hacker was hard

7:47:48 > 7:47:51- but this is a whole new level. - How would you describe this moment?

7:47:51 > 7:47:53- Beautiful, Jepic.- Perfect!

7:47:53 > 7:47:55Oxford Dictionary, if you're watching...

7:47:55 > 7:47:58We actually went to Oxford on Jedward's Big Adventure!

7:47:58 > 7:48:02You've got two rows of string like that, and you need to weave

7:48:02 > 7:48:04under and over, over and under, just like that.

7:48:04 > 7:48:07Once you've done a few, it should start looking like this

7:48:07 > 7:48:10and you can use as many ringpulls as you need.

7:48:10 > 7:48:13- Then it's the tying bit, isn't it? - This is one we prepared earlier.

7:48:13 > 7:48:15It is. You guys did this as well.

7:48:15 > 7:48:18Next step is, you need to tie a knot and leave a little gap at the end

7:48:18 > 7:48:21and this is where your toggle will go through.

7:48:21 > 7:48:24- Guys, have you worn Duffle coats before?- Yes.- To stay warm.

7:48:24 > 7:48:28To keep warm in the winter. Well, this toggle works like a Duffle coat

7:48:28 > 7:48:31because at the end, you are going to... Just finding a good ringpull,

7:48:31 > 7:48:34- like that, stick it through... - Can we get pizza later?

7:48:34 > 7:48:37Yes, we'll have a CBBC party.

7:48:37 > 7:48:41Everybody watching at home, take a picture of us! Smile!

7:48:41 > 7:48:44Oh, dear, this is quickly turning into chaos.

7:48:44 > 7:48:46But the good news is that we are almost done

7:48:46 > 7:48:48and the last thing you need to do,

7:48:48 > 7:48:51when your bracelet's finished, it should look something like this.

7:48:51 > 7:48:55- Get it round your wrist, how cool is that?- Here's my one, it's designer!

7:48:55 > 7:48:57If you want even more from Jedward you can go online

7:48:57 > 7:49:01after the show at six o'clock, they'll be doing a live webchat.

7:49:01 > 7:49:03We're going to be answering all your questions.

7:49:03 > 7:49:06Now over to the man himself, check him out.

7:49:06 > 7:49:09Come on, Radzi. Woo! You've got cool hair, we've got cool hair!

7:49:09 > 7:49:11Why, thank you, Jedward!

7:49:11 > 7:49:14I'm wearing my bracelet with pride, it has to be said,

7:49:14 > 7:49:16the red and white Arsenal colours, yes!

7:49:16 > 7:49:19Now, feast your eyes on this. This is a picture

7:49:19 > 7:49:23made by Toby and Lillian of a band called the Pentatonix.

7:49:23 > 7:49:26They're a little bit special because they don't use instruments,

7:49:26 > 7:49:28they simply use their voices.

7:49:28 > 7:49:33Online, they've amassed a massive 155 million-plus views.

7:49:33 > 7:49:36And Lindsey and Barney got to meet them, and here's what happened.

7:49:38 > 7:49:39Here we go.

7:49:39 > 7:49:43# Maybe it's the way she walks! #

7:49:43 > 7:49:46- That's rubbish! - # Straight to my heart... #

7:49:46 > 7:49:49So, listen, we're going to go see a really cool band.

7:49:49 > 7:49:53- Pentatonix.- Yeah, and they don't have instruments, just their voices.

7:49:53 > 7:49:56So what are we going to do? Because they rely on having skill.

7:49:56 > 7:49:58- Huh?- I think we'll be OK.

7:49:58 > 7:50:01- I think I've got a beautiful voice. - I don't think THAT.

7:50:01 > 7:50:05- I think my voice is like creamy chocolate.- It's not like that!- It is!

7:50:05 > 7:50:07'Let's agree to disagree on that one.

7:50:07 > 7:50:09'Pentatonix were in Manchester

7:50:09 > 7:50:12'rehearsing for the UK leg of their sell-out world tour.'

7:50:12 > 7:50:14I'm actually really looking forward to this.

7:50:14 > 7:50:19- I'm worried.- Why? - Cos you can't sing!

7:50:19 > 7:50:22'Pentatonix first formed two years ago

7:50:22 > 7:50:26'for an American TV competition called The Sing-Off, which they won.

7:50:26 > 7:50:29'Since then, they've exploded onto the music scene,

7:50:29 > 7:50:31'becoming famous for their unique take on popular songs.'

7:50:31 > 7:50:33THEY HARMONISE

7:50:33 > 7:50:35- Hi!- Don't stop, carry on!

7:50:35 > 7:50:39- So we've got Kevin, Kirsty, Avi, Scott , Mitch.- Yes.

7:50:39 > 7:50:42- And you make up Pentatonix?- We do.

7:50:42 > 7:50:44How did you get your name?

7:50:44 > 7:50:46Yeah, our name Pentatonix comes from the pentatonic scale,

7:50:46 > 7:50:50which is five notes, there's five of us and the pentatonic scale is...

7:50:50 > 7:50:53HE SINGS SCALE

7:50:53 > 7:50:55What is a cappella? Can you explain?

7:50:55 > 7:50:58It's basically just music where you only use your voices.

7:50:58 > 7:51:02So like a band has all the different parts, like guitar, bass and keys,

7:51:02 > 7:51:05you recreate that using just your voices. You're awesome, by the way!

7:51:05 > 7:51:07THEY LAUGH

7:51:07 > 7:51:10That snare drum. HE MAKES SNARE DRUM SOUND

7:51:10 > 7:51:12LAUGHTER

7:51:12 > 7:51:14How do you work out what you're going to do

7:51:14 > 7:51:16and how you're going to put things together to make a song?

7:51:16 > 7:51:19Cos today you're going to show us - good luck -

7:51:19 > 7:51:21something us we can join in with

7:51:21 > 7:51:23so we kind of need to know what to do, really.

7:51:32 > 7:51:34Yeah!

7:51:34 > 7:51:36What song do you think can we sing?

7:51:36 > 7:51:38I think the best song would be Video Killed the Radio Star.

7:51:38 > 7:51:42How does it sound, so we know what we're aiming for?

7:51:42 > 7:51:45- # You are - # Ooh-ah

7:51:45 > 7:51:48- # A radio star - # Radio star

7:51:48 > 7:51:52- # You are - # Ooh-ah

7:51:52 > 7:51:54- # A radio star - # Star - BEATBOXING

7:52:08 > 7:52:10- Yeah, it definitely is.- OK.

7:52:10 > 7:52:13'The band were being kind. We really did have a lot to learn.

7:52:13 > 7:52:16'So the only thing to do was to split up and concentrate

7:52:16 > 7:52:18'on our own parts of the song.'

7:52:18 > 7:52:20I thought if we sit at the piano and play the notes through,

7:52:20 > 7:52:23that would make more sense to me cos I play the piano.

7:52:23 > 7:52:25- Shall we start with the basics and then work up?- Absolutely.

7:52:25 > 7:52:27I'm not ready for complicated yet.

7:52:27 > 7:52:30- You know I'm not cos you heard me practise.- You will get this.

7:52:30 > 7:52:35HE PLAYS MELODY OF "VIDEO KILLED THE RADIO STAR"

7:52:58 > 7:53:00second section with the "arrw" at the end.

7:53:00 > 7:53:03- Feel this. - HE MAKES SNARE DRUM SOUND

7:53:03 > 7:53:06- Whoa! Your whole throat's going... - Exactly.

7:53:06 > 7:53:08Your whole throat kind of drops.

7:53:08 > 7:53:10# Dar-dar, dar-dar, dar.. #
