6:48:12 > 6:48:16we show you how to trick your friends with photos like these.
6:48:19 > 6:48:22We visit Kiev, where they make chicken with a runny garlic centre.
6:48:22 > 6:48:23Only kidding, it is a city where
6:48:23 > 6:48:26the Euro 2012 final will be held this weekend.
6:48:26 > 6:48:30And Stephan Gates milkshakes it up with the Shake It Up Girls.
6:48:30 > 6:48:32Do it, do it. Good job.
6:48:50 > 6:48:52- Hello.- Hello. Hi.
6:48:52 > 6:48:55- Welcome to Blue Peter. - Welcome to the show, how you doing?
6:48:55 > 6:48:58Now, let's talk about England. Their dreams of winning Euro 2012
6:48:58 > 6:49:01are shattered. They were beaten last Sunday by Italy.
6:49:01 > 6:49:04So that leaves one question, who's going to win the tournament?
6:49:04 > 6:49:06Luckily for us, we have two guys in the know.
6:49:06 > 6:49:09It's time for our footie pundits, Bobby and Will.
6:49:12 > 6:49:16Welcome to the final edition of Bobby And Will's Kick-off
6:49:16 > 6:49:17with me, Bobby Fuller.
6:49:17 > 6:49:19And for the final time, me Will Nye.
6:49:19 > 6:49:22And speaking of finals, we've got our predictions
6:49:22 > 6:49:24for the Euro 2012 final this Sunday.
6:49:24 > 6:49:25GONG
6:49:25 > 6:49:29Spain booked themselves a place in Sunday's final last night
6:49:29 > 6:49:31after this winning goal.
6:49:31 > 6:49:33'Fabregas could do it for Spain.'
6:49:37 > 6:49:40'And does...just!'
6:49:41 > 6:49:47'It's Fabregas and it's Spain to Kiev in the final.'
6:49:47 > 6:49:49- Yes, an excellent finish there, Bobby.- Certainly, Will.
6:49:49 > 6:49:51But who do we think they're going to face
6:49:51 > 6:49:54out of Germany and Italy in the final? I'm going to go with Germany
6:49:54 > 6:49:58as they've got midfielder Mesut Ozil who's a magician with the ball.
6:49:58 > 6:49:59What, like dynamo?
6:49:59 > 6:50:02Does he do the one where you pull a coin behind someone's ear?
6:50:02 > 6:50:05Like... Ooh!
6:50:05 > 6:50:08He's not an actual magician, Will.
6:50:08 > 6:50:11Oh. Anyway, I disagree with you there.
6:50:11 > 6:50:13I think that Italy will progress.
6:50:13 > 6:50:16Andrea Pirlo could single-handedly take them to the final.
6:50:16 > 6:50:18He looks as old as my dad.
6:50:18 > 6:50:20But it doesn't matter anyway as we both agree
6:50:20 > 6:50:22that Spain will win the tournament.
6:50:22 > 6:50:25And that, our faithful viewers, is the final prediction
6:50:25 > 6:50:26of Bobby And Will's Kick-off.
6:50:26 > 6:50:30We're off for a well-earned rest. See you later, sports fans.
6:50:33 > 6:50:36Thank you very much, Bobby and Will. I kind of agree. I'm backing Spain.
6:50:36 > 6:50:39They are legends. The only two football pundits ever to grow
6:50:39 > 6:50:42different moustaches depending on the make-up artist on the day.
6:50:42 > 6:50:45Now, of course, as Euro 2012 comes to a close,
6:50:45 > 6:50:48so does our trip around its host cities, Poland and Ukraine.
6:50:48 > 6:50:52Now, it's been great to show you the sights, sounds and flavours
6:50:52 > 6:50:55of the two host countries, but for the final leg of our trip,
6:50:55 > 6:50:57I head to Kiev in the Ukraine. While I was there,
6:50:57 > 6:51:00I went to see the stadium in which England crashed out
6:51:00 > 6:51:02of the tournament, but let's not dwell on that.
6:51:02 > 6:51:06let's move on and find out what happened when I went to Kiev.
6:51:08 > 6:51:11On the trip, we've travelled around 1300 miles,
6:51:11 > 6:51:14but I have 500 more to go because I'm going to the host city
6:51:14 > 6:51:17of the Euro 2012 final.
6:51:17 > 6:51:22Kiev is the capital city of Europe's second largest country, Ukraine.
6:51:22 > 6:51:25It's home to around 3 million people and one of its most
6:51:25 > 6:51:29distinctive landmarks is this 62 metre high stainless steel statue
6:51:29 > 6:51:33commemorating those who died in the Second World War.
6:51:33 > 6:51:37This historic city has a stunning skyline that is peppered with gold.
6:51:37 > 6:51:39Check out the roof of St Michael's Cathedral.
6:51:39 > 6:51:43That isn't just the building, it's a piece of art.
6:51:44 > 6:51:47And Kiev is about to become big in the sporting world, too,
6:51:47 > 6:51:51because in a few days' time, it will play host to the final footie match
6:51:51 > 6:51:52for Euro 2012.
6:51:52 > 6:51:55this stadium was completely rebuilt for the Euros
6:51:55 > 6:51:57and it will be the stage for the final
6:51:57 > 6:52:00of the European Championships 2012.
6:52:00 > 6:52:03it is, after all, one of the best football tournaments in the world.
6:52:07 > 6:52:10On this trip, all of our accommodation has been a surprise.
6:52:10 > 6:52:13I need to open my envelope to find out where I'm staying tonight.
6:52:13 > 6:52:16Results. I'm staying in a boat. Thank you.
6:52:17 > 6:52:19I guess for a boat, I need the river, though.
6:52:24 > 6:52:28With the Dnieper River running right through the heart of the city,
6:52:28 > 6:52:31my hotel on a boat is pretty central.
6:52:32 > 6:52:35Wow! Now, when I read boat, my head immediately conjured up
6:52:35 > 6:52:38a picture of a narrow boat, a canal barge type of thing.
6:52:38 > 6:52:41But this...looks grand.
6:52:41 > 6:52:44'It has 200 rooms and was purpose-built
6:52:44 > 6:52:45'as a floating hotel.'
6:52:45 > 6:52:47- Thank you.- You're welcome.
6:52:47 > 6:52:50Oh, my word.
6:52:50 > 6:52:53This is the most striking view I have ever been met with
6:52:53 > 6:52:55in a hotel room. Look at this.
6:52:55 > 6:52:58I mean, this is unbelievable.
6:52:59 > 6:53:04Gorgeous room, gorgeous view, gorgeous weather -
6:53:04 > 6:53:07which I'm going to make the most of because I have a feeling
6:53:07 > 6:53:09tomorrow could be quite intense.
6:53:17 > 6:53:20There is a place in Ukraine that his world-famous,
6:53:20 > 6:53:22but for all the wrong reasons.
6:53:22 > 6:53:25In Chernobyl, an accident happened in the 1980s
6:53:25 > 6:53:28and it's had worldwide effects.
6:53:29 > 6:53:32Just two hours north of Kiev is Chernobyl,
6:53:32 > 6:53:34a former nuclear power plant.
6:53:34 > 6:53:38It's the site of one of the worst disasters in recent history.
6:53:39 > 6:53:42In 1986, one of the plants four reactors exploded,
6:53:42 > 6:53:45releasing a massive amount of radiation into the air.
6:53:45 > 6:53:48the radiation emitted was 300 times as high
6:53:48 > 6:53:52as that released by the first ever atomic bomb.
6:53:52 > 6:53:56Even though it's over 25 years since the disaster,
6:53:56 > 6:54:00radiation levels are still high and a 30-kilometre-wide no-go area
6:54:00 > 6:54:05exists around the reactor. This is known as the exclusion zone.
6:54:05 > 6:54:09As I pass over its border, I turn on Geiger counter -
6:54:09 > 6:54:13a device that reads the amount of radiation in the air around it.
6:54:15 > 6:54:18In Kiev, it was reading 0.15,
6:54:18 > 6:54:21but this figure is increasing the closer I get to the plant
6:54:21 > 6:54:25and is already more than double what it was.
6:54:25 > 6:54:28Just inside the border of the exclusion zone
6:54:28 > 6:54:30is a monument to the villages, abandoned
6:54:30 > 6:54:33because of the tragedy. I'm meeting with Micha, who was evacuated
6:54:33 > 6:54:37from the area with his family ten years after the disaster.
6:54:37 > 6:54:40How far away from Chernobyl is the village you were born in?
6:54:40 > 6:54:44Approximately some 50 kilometres from here.
6:54:44 > 6:54:48So, 50 kilometres away, nearly a decade after the explosion,
6:54:48 > 6:54:52- people were still being evacuated? - Yep.
6:54:52 > 6:54:55So these signs are all the names of the villages
6:54:55 > 6:54:58- and places that were evacuated? - Yep, exactly.
6:54:58 > 6:55:01Why on one side... What does this mean?
6:55:01 > 6:55:04It means that no-one lives there at all.
6:55:04 > 6:55:07It means that the village disappeared from the Earth.
6:55:07 > 6:55:10- So they've literally been crossed out?- Yep.
6:55:12 > 6:55:16Micha is taking me closer to the reactor and as we get nearer,
6:55:16 > 6:55:18the radiation levels are getting higher.
6:55:18 > 6:55:23Now, this Geiger counter is reading...
6:55:23 > 6:55:25- 1.38.- It's creeping up all the time.
6:55:25 > 6:55:28- Is that because we're getting nearer?- Yeah, exactly.
6:55:28 > 6:55:31'The radiation is already over nine times as high
6:55:31 > 6:55:33'as the safe levels we saw in Kiev.'
6:55:33 > 6:55:36- So, is that the actual power plant? - Yeah.
6:55:36 > 6:55:39That doesn't look too solid from here.
6:55:39 > 6:55:42It looks kind of tin and almost rusty.
6:55:42 > 6:55:44There's a lot of cracks on the walls and the roof.
6:55:44 > 6:55:49- So it is possible that it's leaking? - Yep.
6:55:49 > 6:55:52So, at what point should we look at this and say,
6:55:52 > 6:55:53"That's it, too close."
6:55:53 > 6:55:56- It depends on the time which we spend here.- OK.
6:55:56 > 6:55:59So if you spend five or ten minutes, it's not so dangerous.
6:55:59 > 6:56:02- Right, shall we go closer?- Yep.
6:56:03 > 6:56:07While it is safe to go closer, our time here has to be limited.
6:56:09 > 6:56:12The radiation released into the atmosphere on the night
6:56:12 > 6:56:16of the explosion travelled two times around the world.
6:56:16 > 6:56:19It caused an unknown number of serious illnesses
6:56:19 > 6:56:21across Europe and beyond.
6:56:22 > 6:56:25Micha is taking me to a village just north of the reactor
6:56:25 > 6:56:27that was devastated by the events.
6:56:30 > 6:56:33Prypiat was completely abandoned just three days after
6:56:33 > 6:56:35the fire in the reactor broke out.
6:56:35 > 6:56:39Its residents haven't been allowed to return.
6:56:41 > 6:56:43So this was the main square?
6:56:43 > 6:56:47Yeah, it was the main square of the town Prypiat.
6:56:47 > 6:56:49What would these shops have been?
6:56:49 > 6:56:51So here, we had a furniture shop,
6:56:51 > 6:56:56the children's shop, here were flats of people who lived here.
6:56:56 > 6:56:59The people who used to construct the nuclear power plant,
6:56:59 > 6:57:01people who constructed the town, they used to live here.
6:57:02 > 6:57:05This abandoned Ferris wheel is one of the saddest
6:57:05 > 6:57:07and most iconic sights in Prypiat.
6:57:07 > 6:57:10The disaster happened just a few weeks before
6:57:10 > 6:57:12the funfair was set to open
6:57:12 > 6:57:15and it stands today completely unused.
6:57:18 > 6:57:21We can't spend long in Prypiat because the radiation is so high.
6:57:21 > 6:57:25On the way out, the readings on our Geiger counter spike suddenly.
6:57:25 > 6:57:27GEIGER COUNTER TICKS
6:57:28 > 6:57:32Oh, my word, it's jumped straight up to seven, eight, nine, ten.
6:57:32 > 6:57:36'That's over 70 times the safe levels we saw in Kiev.'
6:57:39 > 6:57:42Before it's time to leave the exclusion zone entirely,
6:57:42 > 6:57:45Micha takes me as close to the reactor as is safe.
6:57:47 > 6:57:49There's so much debate around
6:57:49 > 6:57:50how many people were affected.
6:57:50 > 6:57:53I mean, can you say at all how many people
6:57:53 > 6:57:55suffered as a result of the explosion?
6:57:55 > 6:58:00It's quite difficult to tell. According to official data I read...
6:58:00 > 6:58:05So the amount, 237 firefighters who took part in extinguishing the fire,
6:58:05 > 6:58:0738 of them died.
6:58:08 > 6:58:11this monument stands at the foot of the reactor
6:58:11 > 6:58:13to commemorate the bravery of the firefighters.
6:58:17 > 6:58:21In a weird way, I was keen to come here because I was fascinated
6:58:21 > 6:58:25by what I would see and, you know, people have discussed and argued
6:58:25 > 6:58:29about Chernobyl for years and they will do for decades to come,
6:58:29 > 6:58:35but now that I'm here and I can see the scene of a tragedy
6:58:35 > 6:58:37that caused so much suffering around the world,
6:58:37 > 6:58:43I just feel...really uncomfortable
6:58:43 > 6:58:47and I kind of feel like I'm looking at a car crash and I shouldn't be.
6:58:47 > 6:58:51This is telling me that it's time for me to go.
6:58:53 > 6:58:55What was it like being there?
6:58:55 > 6:58:58It's just very, very eerie. You feel like you shouldn't be there.
6:58:58 > 6:59:01If you mentioned Chernobyl to an adult, their eyes were widen
6:59:01 > 6:59:04because so many question marks remain over the long-term effects.
6:59:04 > 6:59:08It was just a very sad episode in that country's history,
6:59:08 > 6:59:10and what an amazing country.
6:59:10 > 6:59:11It really is an amazing country.
6:59:11 > 6:59:14Poland and Ukraine, when we travelled around we did so many things.
6:59:14 > 6:59:18I learnt to Cossack dance, we tried some local delicacies
6:59:18 > 6:59:20and there's a film you haven't seen yet which was... I went to Lviv
6:59:20 > 6:59:24and actually learnt to make chocolate and that's now an exclusive video
6:59:24 > 6:59:28on the website. If you want to check that out it's bbc.co.uk/bluepeter.
6:59:28 > 6:59:32I wasn't rolling my eyes, just as you said Cossack-dancing, I went...
6:59:32 > 6:59:34It's good, it's worth seeing. There are some web exclusives
6:59:34 > 6:59:36so head over to the Blue Peter website.
6:59:36 > 6:59:40- Now, there are 29 days until the Olympics.- Can you believe it?
6:59:40 > 6:59:43If you've been watching Blue Peter's big Olympic tour at the weekend,
6:59:43 > 6:59:45you'll know that we've been competing in our own challenges.
6:59:45 > 6:59:48On Saturday, Barney and I took on BMXing.
6:59:48 > 6:59:51Each week we take on four celebrities
6:59:51 > 6:59:54in a different Olympic event. BMXing was quite eventful
6:59:54 > 6:59:56so here's a chance to see what happened.
6:59:56 > 6:59:58Your host is Football Focus's Dan Walker.
6:59:59 > 7:00:01Here's a reminder of our line-up.
7:00:01 > 7:00:04First up, multi-talented singer, Laura.
7:00:05 > 7:00:08He's looking the one to beat so far, dancer Brendan.
7:00:09 > 7:00:11She's got bundles of energy, actress Adele.
7:00:11 > 7:00:15He's cool, calm and collected, it's Romeo.
7:00:16 > 7:00:20And still very much in contention, these two, Helen and Barney.
7:00:23 > 7:00:26Athletes, welcome. We have reached event five out of nine
7:00:26 > 7:00:28in the Blue Peter Olympic challenge.
7:00:28 > 7:00:32These beauties are still on offer. The bronze, the silver and the gold.
7:00:32 > 7:00:33Who's pumped for this challenge?
7:00:33 > 7:00:35ALL: Yes! Can't wait.
7:00:35 > 7:00:37We have got, right now, a three-time world champion
7:00:37 > 7:00:40to show you how it's done. It's Dylan on the demo.
7:00:40 > 7:00:41Hit it, big boy!
7:00:44 > 7:00:47There are two tracks here at the National Cycling Centre.
7:00:47 > 7:00:51One for the pros like Dylan, and an easier version for our athletes.
7:00:51 > 7:00:53It's still going to be a big test of nerve, though.
7:00:53 > 7:00:56They've got just one hour to get to grips with the BMX bike
7:00:56 > 7:00:58and the bumpy course.
7:00:59 > 7:01:03And they soon find out this could be their toughest test so far.
7:01:04 > 7:01:06It's just, erm, terrifying.
7:01:06 > 7:01:08If I'm being honest, it's really scary.
7:01:08 > 7:01:11If you go a little bit too fast, it's all over.
7:01:12 > 7:01:16Just one little wobble sends you into a manic panic in your head.
7:01:16 > 7:01:18You're like, "Oh no, this is it, I'm going."
7:01:20 > 7:01:23This is where it all begins for our athletes on the start ramp.
7:01:23 > 7:01:28Fast as you can, legs pumping, and it's when you reach the first hump
7:01:28 > 7:01:30that the tactics kick in.
7:01:30 > 7:01:32You've got to force yourself down the ramps
7:01:32 > 7:01:35to get speed up. You've got to make sure, in terms of pedals,
7:01:35 > 7:01:37they've got to be level when you reach something like this.
7:01:37 > 7:01:40Otherwise, possible game over. So you've got a men's race,
7:01:40 > 7:01:42we've got a women's race, as well,
7:01:42 > 7:01:45and at the end of it all, somebody will be crowned BMX Bandit.
7:01:47 > 7:01:49Here we are, the women's race, Helen on the inside line
7:01:49 > 7:01:52and she could get to the first corner first,
7:01:52 > 7:01:54that would he crucial. Shanaze Reade there.
7:01:54 > 7:01:56A world champion looking on. No pressure there, then.
7:01:56 > 7:01:57And they're off.
7:01:57 > 7:02:00Adele, a terrible start. Helen got off well, though.
7:02:00 > 7:02:03She's keeping that up, although Laura's coming up to tie the lead.
7:02:03 > 7:02:07She struggled on that bump! Helen gets into the first corner first.
7:02:07 > 7:02:10And Adele, where is Adele? Oh, she's struggling very badly.
7:02:10 > 7:02:13Enjoying it, though. She's going for it still.
7:02:13 > 7:02:16Look at the height of the bumps for the leaders. Almost disappeared.
7:02:18 > 7:02:21Helen still maintaining the lead over Laura.
7:02:21 > 7:02:24She's got a good rhythm going. She's into the last few bumps.
7:02:24 > 7:02:28She's going to take it. Good balance.
7:02:28 > 7:02:30Laura in second place. Shanaze looks on clapping.
7:02:32 > 7:02:36Adele, she's still going. She's determined to finish it.
7:02:36 > 7:02:38Well done, Adele.
7:02:39 > 7:02:41And that's what it's all about.
7:02:42 > 7:02:44I feel like that was the first time I really went for it.
7:02:44 > 7:02:46Because someone's on your heels,
7:02:46 > 7:02:48you have to go for it and push it.
7:02:49 > 7:02:51So now it's the men's turn.
7:02:52 > 7:02:53Away they go.
7:02:53 > 7:02:56Barney got a good start, as did Romeo, but all together.
7:02:56 > 7:02:58Brendan's got the early advantage, though.
7:02:58 > 7:03:00He's gone into the first corner in the lead.
7:03:00 > 7:03:02Romeo's keeping track.
7:03:02 > 7:03:04Barney in third at the moment.
7:03:04 > 7:03:06Oh, Barney, where are you going?
7:03:06 > 7:03:08He's tried to go down the wrong track.
7:03:08 > 7:03:11That'll cost him. He was looking good, as well.
7:03:11 > 7:03:15But Brendan's gone into the final corner, he's got a very good lead.
7:03:15 > 7:03:17It's his to lose.
7:03:17 > 7:03:19Excellent technique - look at the balance, look at the confidence.
7:03:19 > 7:03:22He takes it, no problem at all for Brendan.
7:03:22 > 7:03:27Here comes Romeo in second place. And, Barney - what could have been?
7:03:28 > 7:03:32Romeo's shattered in second place. Brendan, dominating again.
7:03:32 > 7:03:34The one race where I thought I had a chance.
7:03:34 > 7:03:38I made a mistake, so I stopped, I had no choice.
7:03:40 > 7:03:42It's a shame there wasn't a bright orange cone
7:03:42 > 7:03:45to tell me where to go, wasn't it? I was so gutted about that.
7:03:45 > 7:03:47I like this about you, though.
7:03:47 > 7:03:49You pretend you're not competitive, and you are.
7:03:49 > 7:03:51I love that you're gutted - you should be!
7:03:51 > 7:03:54I did really well in the run through. My fault, anyway.
7:03:54 > 7:03:56That result means that, for the first time,
7:03:56 > 7:03:59I move into medal contention.
7:03:59 > 7:04:01It's all still to play for.
7:04:01 > 7:04:03You can find out what happens next
7:04:03 > 7:04:05this Saturday morning at 9am on the CBBC channel
7:04:05 > 7:04:07when we go head-to-head in tennis.
7:04:07 > 7:04:09We'll be in West Park in Wolverhampton.
7:04:09 > 7:04:11Come and join us from 10am for the free event.
7:04:11 > 7:04:14Here's what you can look forward to getting involved with.
7:04:14 > 7:04:17We're in town this Saturday from 10am until 4pm
7:04:17 > 7:04:19with Blue Peter's Big Olympic Tour.
7:04:19 > 7:04:22You can try out all kinds of different sports,
7:04:22 > 7:04:24take part in a Horrible Histories stage show,
7:04:24 > 7:04:27and even have a go at being a sports presenter.
7:04:28 > 7:04:31It's a free event and you don't need a ticket,
7:04:31 > 7:04:34so come along, say hello and enjoy the fun.
7:04:35 > 7:04:38So that's a date for your diary, and if you need a new calendar,
7:04:38 > 7:04:41look no further than the Blue Peter website,
7:04:41 > 7:04:43because Barney has been making a photo calendar.
7:04:43 > 7:04:47Every month we've used a different technique to create an image.
7:04:47 > 7:04:49We tried macro photography to start -
7:04:49 > 7:04:51where you make something really small look really big.
7:04:51 > 7:04:54We then tried light painting - one of my favourites,
7:04:54 > 7:04:56where you use a torch to create an image.
7:04:56 > 7:04:58I'm now going to show you perspective photography,
7:04:58 > 7:05:01where you can make something really big look really small,
7:05:01 > 7:05:03and the opposite.
7:05:03 > 7:05:05And, if you practise really hard,
7:05:05 > 7:05:07you should be able to create an effect like this.
7:05:07 > 7:05:10It's working! I'm dangling Helen from my hand.
7:05:10 > 7:05:11Here's more.
7:05:13 > 7:05:15Check out these photos.
7:05:15 > 7:05:19They've been taken using a technique called perspective photography.
7:05:20 > 7:05:22It's a way of forcing your brain
7:05:22 > 7:05:25to make things look different by the use of optical trickery.
7:05:29 > 7:05:30So, how does it work?
7:05:31 > 7:05:33The trick is actually quite simple.
7:05:33 > 7:05:36When an object is close to the lens, it looks really big.
7:05:36 > 7:05:40But, when the object moves further away from the lens,
7:05:40 > 7:05:41it's really small.
7:05:41 > 7:05:44Is that a tiny lion, or a giant camera?
7:05:46 > 7:05:48So, what do you need?
7:05:48 > 7:05:51Well, you need an open space, so I've come to the park.
7:05:51 > 7:05:53This is going to be perfect for what I need.
7:05:53 > 7:05:56Second, you need a camera - you can take this picture
7:05:56 > 7:05:57on absolutely any camera.
7:05:57 > 7:05:59Thirdly, you need a person, a subject
7:05:59 > 7:06:01or an object to take a picture of.
7:06:01 > 7:06:04Today, I'm going to be using Rob and this football.
7:06:04 > 7:06:05Thanks, Rob.
7:06:05 > 7:06:07Finally, you need your imagination.
7:06:07 > 7:06:10The best perspective photography pictures are the original ones,
7:06:10 > 7:06:13so get your thinking caps on, and let's get started.
7:06:13 > 7:06:15OK, Rob, are you ready?
7:06:15 > 7:06:17About 20 metres that way.
7:06:18 > 7:06:20Perfect.
7:06:20 > 7:06:22We're going to try to create the effect
7:06:22 > 7:06:24of Rob kicking a football towards the camera.
7:06:24 > 7:06:27As you can see, Rob is miles away,
7:06:27 > 7:06:31and he's going to strike that famous footballing strike pose.
7:06:31 > 7:06:34When he does that, Natalie's going to throw the ball into the camera,
7:06:34 > 7:06:36and if we time it just right, it'll look like
7:06:36 > 7:06:40Rob's kicked the football from where he is right in front of the lens.
7:06:40 > 7:06:43'Well, that's the theory, anyway. Fingers crossed.'
7:06:43 > 7:06:45Let's try one - one, two, three.
7:06:46 > 7:06:49Oh, it's so close, it's so close!
7:06:49 > 7:06:51There's Rob's footballing pose we're after.
7:06:51 > 7:06:54That one is where the ball ended up.
7:06:54 > 7:06:56This takes lots of time and patience,
7:06:56 > 7:06:58so don't worry if you don't get it right first time.
7:06:58 > 7:07:00Oh, it's so close!
7:07:00 > 7:07:02One, two, three.
7:07:02 > 7:07:04Yes! We've done it, look!
7:07:04 > 7:07:06That's what I'm talking about right there.
7:07:07 > 7:07:11Fantastic. I am so pleased with that photo.
7:07:11 > 7:07:14Perspective photography is a lot better and way more fun
7:07:14 > 7:07:16if you get your friends to help you.
7:07:16 > 7:07:17All right, guys!
7:07:17 > 7:07:20As you can see, I've brought some top photographers
7:07:20 > 7:07:22who've each brought their own camera.
7:07:22 > 7:07:23First up is Molly.
7:07:23 > 7:07:26She's using a flashy tablet with in-built camera.
7:07:26 > 7:07:27Then we've got Mia,
7:07:27 > 7:07:30with an instant camera that prints photos straight away.
7:07:30 > 7:07:33Kaleem has got a sleek, compact, digital camera.
7:07:33 > 7:07:38And Aashir has a low-cost disposable camera that's so retro.
7:07:38 > 7:07:40The guys split into pairs to take their photos
7:07:40 > 7:07:43and they're coming up with ideas thick and fast.
7:07:43 > 7:07:47I've got a dog called Darcy and I want her to be very, very big.
7:07:47 > 7:07:49We can make the ball proper big spinning on our finger.
7:07:49 > 7:07:50Yeah, I'd like that, yeah.
7:07:50 > 7:07:53I brought a balloon and I thought if we blew it up dead big
7:07:53 > 7:07:55it'd look well good.
7:07:55 > 7:07:58Aashir is trying to take a picture of Kaleem showing off his skills
7:07:58 > 7:08:01by spinning a huge football on the end of his finger.
7:08:01 > 7:08:04Kaleem's idea is to squash Aashir under my giant foot.
7:08:04 > 7:08:06How cruel!
7:08:06 > 7:08:09- Face! - I've just stood on your head.
7:08:09 > 7:08:11Let's see how the girls are getting on.
7:08:11 > 7:08:12Mia's trying to create the effect
7:08:12 > 7:08:16of Molly blowing a huge balloon across the park.
7:08:16 > 7:08:18- Down a bit. - Have you taken it yet?
7:08:18 > 7:08:20Nearly there.
7:08:20 > 7:08:21Don't move.
7:08:21 > 7:08:24How's that? Oh, that's brilliant.
7:08:24 > 7:08:28Molly wants Mia to make her dog, Darcy, enormous
7:08:28 > 7:08:30and have Mia give her a kiss - ah, that's cute.
7:08:30 > 7:08:33- Now bend down. - Bend down and give a kiss.
7:08:33 > 7:08:35THEY LAUGH
7:08:36 > 7:08:39That was brilliant, are we happy with our photos?
7:08:39 > 7:08:42- ALL:- Yeah!- Fantastic. Aashir, yours is a film camera
7:08:42 > 7:08:44so we have to get those developed,
7:08:44 > 7:08:47then we'll get all the photographs together and choose the best one,
7:08:47 > 7:08:50and that will go into the calendar month of July - sound good?
7:08:50 > 7:08:52- ALL:- Yeah!- High-fives.
7:08:52 > 7:08:55Well done, team, I can't wait. Don't leave me hanging.
7:08:56 > 7:08:58And I'm delighted that our team of photographers
7:08:58 > 7:09:01are with us in the studio now. Welcome, team.
7:09:01 > 7:09:03Hello, top pro photographers, good to see you here.
7:09:03 > 7:09:06Kaleem, what do you like about your photograph?
7:09:06 > 7:09:09What I like about my painting... I mean...
7:09:09 > 7:09:10Your photo.
7:09:10 > 7:09:12Yeah, my photo, is that,
7:09:12 > 7:09:16cos it's like you're stepping on Aashir,
7:09:16 > 7:09:20and I like how he's put his face, like, to say
7:09:20 > 7:09:22that you're actually stepping on him.
7:09:22 > 7:09:25It's a good bit of acting, that, Aashir, it really is.
7:09:25 > 7:09:29Cos, the way we've put this together
7:09:29 > 7:09:34is Aashir is going really far back
7:09:34 > 7:09:37and you're near the camera, putting your foot down,
7:09:37 > 7:09:41so it looks like you're stepping on him.
7:09:41 > 7:09:42It's a brilliant photo.
7:09:42 > 7:09:45How about you, Mia? What do you think?
7:09:45 > 7:09:47Well, I made Molly look really small by standing really back,
7:09:47 > 7:09:50and the balloon looks massive,
7:09:50 > 7:09:52so she looks like she's blowing it away.
7:09:52 > 7:09:55I like the way it's been done,
7:09:55 > 7:09:58that she looks dead small and the balloon looks really big.
7:09:58 > 7:10:01They've been really successful, these two photos, Helen.
7:10:01 > 7:10:04Yeah, Molly's is pretty impressive, as well.
7:10:04 > 7:10:06Are you happy with how it's turned out?
7:10:06 > 7:10:09Yeah, I'm really happy, because Darcy was supposed to be
7:10:09 > 7:10:13very, very, very big and Mia's supposed to very, very, very small.
7:10:13 > 7:10:19But Darcy's really close to the camera, and Mia's taken
7:10:19 > 7:10:24loads of steps back and she's bending over and kissing Darcy on her nose.
7:10:24 > 7:10:27It works really, really, really well, Molly, so well done, you.
7:10:27 > 7:10:28Aashir.
7:10:28 > 7:10:33Well, ours wasn't what it turned out to be, because BARNEY...
7:10:33 > 7:10:35What?!
7:10:35 > 7:10:38- You stepped in front of the photo! - Barney!
7:10:38 > 7:10:41I know, what can I say? If I see a lens, I head for it, sorry.
7:10:41 > 7:10:45It's not really Barney's fault because our camera was digital,
7:10:45 > 7:10:50so you couldn't really see how the photo was going to turn out.
7:10:50 > 7:10:52So you didn't use a digital camera,
7:10:52 > 7:10:56- so you couldn't see instantly how the photo would look?- No.
7:10:56 > 7:10:58It was disposable, so we had to wait for it to be developed,
7:10:58 > 7:11:00so if you are going to try doing this,
7:11:00 > 7:11:03it's very difficult to use a disposable camera.
7:11:03 > 7:11:05Try using a digital camera, you'll have an easier time with it.
7:11:05 > 7:11:09We were so impressed with all of your photographs,
7:11:09 > 7:11:11that when we were looking and mulling over which one
7:11:11 > 7:11:13to put into the calendar we couldn't decide,
7:11:13 > 7:11:16so we decided to put them all in.
7:11:16 > 7:11:17APPLAUSE
7:11:17 > 7:11:20- Happy about that? - ALL:- Yeah.
7:11:20 > 7:11:22- LAUGHTER - Practically jumping in the air!
7:11:22 > 7:11:25Molly, you asked me four times, I thought you'd be happier!
7:11:25 > 7:11:27She's stunned.
7:11:27 > 7:11:29There's the calendar, there's the picture
7:11:29 > 7:11:32I took with the lovely Rob, and there's yours underneath.
7:11:32 > 7:11:34If you want to download this, you can go to the website -
7:11:34 > 7:11:35bbc.co.uk/bluepeter.
7:11:35 > 7:11:38There's an important date on there, as well - the 27th,
7:11:38 > 7:11:40that's when the Olympics come to town.
7:11:40 > 7:11:43And if you want to e-mail us your perspective photographs, please do -
7:11:43 > 7:11:45bluepeter@bbc.co.uk - We'd love to see them,
7:11:45 > 7:11:47and hopefully we'll show them next week.
7:11:47 > 7:11:51Another date on that calendar is 4th July, American Independence Day.
7:11:51 > 7:11:55It's when Americans have parties and celebrate with fancy food.
7:11:55 > 7:11:58So we sent Stefan Gates to make a milkshake
7:11:58 > 7:12:00that brings all the girls to the yard.
7:12:00 > 7:12:02I couldn't resist it, I'm so sorry!
7:12:03 > 7:12:05Chocolate, vanilla, strawberry -
7:12:05 > 7:12:08just three of your typical milkshake flavours.
7:12:08 > 7:12:10They're all right, but you know me,
7:12:10 > 7:12:13I'm not somebody who likes to stick to the ordinary stuff.
7:12:13 > 7:12:15When it comes to food, I like to shake it up.
7:12:15 > 7:12:18Meet Bella and Zendaya, who play Cece and Rocky
7:12:18 > 7:12:21in the hit Disney dance series, Shake It Up.
7:12:21 > 7:12:24The show follows the adventures of our young starlets
7:12:24 > 7:12:27trying to rise to fame as back-up dancers on a local show.
7:12:27 > 7:12:29- Ladies, welcome to London. BOTH:- Thank you!
7:12:29 > 7:12:32Brilliant to have you here. We are here with an American classic.
7:12:32 > 7:12:34How important is it to American culture?
7:12:34 > 7:12:37I think it's pretty important, everyone grows up on milkshake.
7:12:37 > 7:12:41It's a childhood favourite, and even now I'm obsessed with ice cream,
7:12:41 > 7:12:43so you can drink your ice cream.
7:12:43 > 7:12:45What's your favourite milkshake?
7:12:45 > 7:12:47I'm starting to lean towards strawberry now,
7:12:47 > 7:12:49so I guess maybe I'm ill?
7:12:49 > 7:12:51- Covering all the major food groups then?- Yes!
7:12:51 > 7:12:544th July - also known as Independence Day -
7:12:54 > 7:12:56is the date when United States
7:12:56 > 7:13:00declared its independence from the UK in 1776.
7:13:00 > 7:13:04Or American cousins celebrate by taking a national holiday
7:13:04 > 7:13:07and having loads of fun, parades and, of course, fireworks.
7:13:07 > 7:13:11It's really about being with your family and barbecue...
7:13:11 > 7:13:12And a pool, and just relaxing.
7:13:12 > 7:13:14- It's a chilling day? BOTH:- Yes.
7:13:14 > 7:13:17I've come up with a few milkshake recipes
7:13:17 > 7:13:19which I think are based on American classic food
7:13:19 > 7:13:22that you don't normally find in a milkshake.
7:13:22 > 7:13:24Would you mind helping me try them out?
7:13:24 > 7:13:26- For sure.- Yeah, let's do it! - Let's go.
7:13:26 > 7:13:29Now, these recipes are a little bit experimental.
7:13:29 > 7:13:32They've never been tried before, they might be disgusting,
7:13:32 > 7:13:34but we might discover something fantastic.
7:13:34 > 7:13:38First, I thought we'd make milkshake from apple pie.
7:13:38 > 7:13:41- Apple pie, of course. - That sounds good.
7:13:41 > 7:13:45First of all, we'll start with some apple sauce.
7:13:45 > 7:13:46Now some biscuits.
7:13:46 > 7:13:48200ml of milk.
7:13:48 > 7:13:51Two to three lumps of ice cream.
7:13:51 > 7:13:52Cinnamon, ginger biscuit.
7:13:52 > 7:13:55It does look really good.
7:13:55 > 7:13:57A little splash of apple juice to add to the appley flavour.
7:13:57 > 7:14:00For the apple, gotcha.
7:14:00 > 7:14:01Give it a whizz.
7:14:04 > 7:14:05One glass.
7:14:08 > 7:14:09It looks good.
7:14:12 > 7:14:14- Artfully, please, artfully. - Oh, wow!
7:14:14 > 7:14:16It looks good, but what does it taste like?
7:14:19 > 7:14:20Actually good. I like it.
7:14:20 > 7:14:23I didn't know what I first thought of the apple taste,
7:14:23 > 7:14:25but I like it, and then the cinnamon kicks in.
7:14:25 > 7:14:28It adds a little freshness to it. You can taste all the ingredients.
7:14:28 > 7:14:30- First one's a winner? - Oh, yeah.
7:14:30 > 7:14:33Success! Now let's try something outrageous.
7:14:33 > 7:14:35Hot dog milkshake.
7:14:35 > 7:14:37- Urgh. - Does that not sound good?
7:14:37 > 7:14:40- No!- Do you not have a hot dogs in milkshakes in the States?
7:14:40 > 7:14:42- BOTH:- No!
7:14:42 > 7:14:46Hot dog, crispy onions, plenty of ketchup and mustard...
7:14:46 > 7:14:48White pants - not a good idea.
7:14:48 > 7:14:52..lots of milk and, yes, loads of ice-cream.
7:14:53 > 7:14:55- It looks like vomit. - Not looking good.- No.
7:14:57 > 7:14:59There's a pickle.
