0:00:02 > 0:00:04Coming up on today's special edition of Blue Peter...

0:00:04 > 0:00:07We're counting down our best Blue Peter moments.

0:00:07 > 0:00:10From the time I animated my own scene in a pirate movie,

0:00:10 > 0:00:13to a nerve-racking performance as I perform as part of a ballet.

0:00:13 > 0:00:16And from the day I picked a special member of our team,

0:00:16 > 0:00:19to a dramatic arrival at our new studios.

0:00:37 > 0:00:38Right now, right here in the UK,

0:00:38 > 0:00:41people have travelled from all over the world

0:00:41 > 0:00:43to take part in the Olympics,

0:00:43 > 0:00:45which is about trying to do your best. So, today,

0:00:45 > 0:00:49we're going to celebrate by showing you our best bits on Blue Peter.

0:00:49 > 0:00:52We've been lucky to bring you some pretty amazing things,

0:00:52 > 0:00:56and it's been kind of tough, hasn't it, to select our 10 best bits.

0:00:56 > 0:00:59But, at number ten, we've chosen a day that we'll never forget,

0:00:59 > 0:01:00and we hope you won't, either.

0:01:00 > 0:01:01For over 50 years,

0:01:01 > 0:01:05Blue Peter was made at Television Centre in West London.

0:01:05 > 0:01:07On the 26th of September 2011,

0:01:07 > 0:01:09we made a dramatic arrival

0:01:09 > 0:01:13at our new home in Salford, Greater Manchester.

0:01:13 > 0:01:15Helen arrived by a Royal Navy Sea King helicopter,

0:01:15 > 0:01:18and I arrived on a super-fast jet ski.

0:01:18 > 0:01:20Which they wouldn't let me keep.

0:01:24 > 0:01:26This is a massive day for us.

0:01:26 > 0:01:29I'm en route to the brand-new home of Blue Peter

0:01:29 > 0:01:31in Salford, Greater Manchester,

0:01:31 > 0:01:34and, in true Blue Peter style,

0:01:34 > 0:01:39I am on board a Royal Navy Sea King helicopter.

0:01:39 > 0:01:40They're our neighbours!

0:01:40 > 0:01:43That's Old Trafford, they're just across the water from us.

0:01:43 > 0:01:46There's no time for a kick about now, though, cos I've got to get to the studio.

0:01:46 > 0:01:49Thanks to these guys, I'm making pretty good progress.

0:01:49 > 0:01:53I'm keeping an eye out for Harwood. I cannot see him.

0:01:53 > 0:01:56He's meant to be on a jet ski somewhere. Slowcoach.

0:01:56 > 0:01:58We're definitely going to be there before him.

0:02:05 > 0:02:09I wouldn't worry about me, Helen. I'm on the way there, too.

0:02:09 > 0:02:13Except I'm turning up on this 260 horsepower jet ski.

0:02:13 > 0:02:17This thing is as fast as a Ferrari. It is awesome.

0:02:17 > 0:02:19In fact, I might even be there before you are.

0:02:19 > 0:02:22Not that it's a race or anything.

0:02:22 > 0:02:24This piece of kit is so impressive,

0:02:24 > 0:02:26and it's a real honour to be on board.

0:02:50 > 0:02:52Doesn't everyone arrive at work like this?

0:03:09 > 0:03:10There you go, Barney.

0:03:32 > 0:03:34So, welcome to your new home.

0:03:34 > 0:03:37That was so fun! Right, we'd better get changed.

0:03:37 > 0:03:38Good idea.

0:03:38 > 0:03:41There are so many ways to arrive at the studio,

0:03:41 > 0:03:42but those had to be the coolest.

0:03:42 > 0:03:45I think next time we should try arriving by a bungee.

0:03:45 > 0:03:48Everybody else was so jealous. All the people who work in the offices

0:03:48 > 0:03:50were like, "Who is that? Who is that?" Just us!

0:03:50 > 0:03:53And later on in the countdown, I join that crew on board

0:03:53 > 0:03:57a Royal Navy Sea King once again, and attempt a rescue mission at sea.

0:03:57 > 0:04:00They dropped me out of the helicopter onto a boat.

0:04:00 > 0:04:03I've seen it. It's very funny. Now, whilst we are talking about legends,

0:04:03 > 0:04:06let's not leave out the biggest here on Blue Peter.

0:04:06 > 0:04:09Barney the dog. His arrival was quite spectacular too, wasn't it?

0:04:09 > 0:04:13Now, we got Barney from a rescue home for abandoned animals, and do you know what?

0:04:13 > 0:04:16Choosing the new Blue Peter dog wasn't easy.

0:04:16 > 0:04:19But, in the end, I think he chose me.

0:04:19 > 0:04:21That's cos you got biscuits.

0:04:24 > 0:04:28- How cool is Jazmine?- She has great hair, doesn't she?- Hello!

0:04:28 > 0:04:31- Richard, do you have to be quite strict?- We do.

0:04:31 > 0:04:32We want the dog to go to the right home.

0:04:32 > 0:04:34If it doesn't work out, the dog ends up back with us,

0:04:34 > 0:04:37which isn't good for the owner, it's not good for the dog.

0:04:37 > 0:04:40- Yeah.- So we want to get it right at the start.

0:04:40 > 0:04:42So this isn't about picking the cutest dog.

0:04:42 > 0:04:45- I've really got to think about this, haven't I?- Definitely, yeah.

0:04:45 > 0:04:49Having had dogs before, I knew it was just as important

0:04:49 > 0:04:53to match the owner to the dog, rather than the other way round.

0:04:53 > 0:04:57Richard asked me to fill in a questionnaire.

0:04:57 > 0:05:00This is nerve-wracking, it's like taking a test to see

0:05:00 > 0:05:02if I'm good enough to have a dog.

0:05:02 > 0:05:06What if I'm not good enough? That would be embarrassing. Right, be realistic, Helen.

0:05:06 > 0:05:11Scribble out "large dog," and tick "small," I think.

0:05:11 > 0:05:16Over the next few weeks, Richard kept an eye out for a suitable dog.

0:05:18 > 0:05:22Luckily, two dogs came up trumps, and the day couldn't come soon enough for me to meet them.

0:05:22 > 0:05:27- DOGS BARK - Oh, he is... They're BOTH so cute. Hello!

0:05:27 > 0:05:30Oh, yeah, I'll take them both, please. Hello!

0:05:30 > 0:05:34That was very mean, bringing them both out at the same time.

0:05:34 > 0:05:37So, the large one is a little bit older,

0:05:37 > 0:05:42and he is a crossbreed, probably a cross dachshund, we think.

0:05:42 > 0:05:46And then this little chap here, he is about 14 weeks old now,

0:05:46 > 0:05:48and he is a cocker spaniel.

0:05:48 > 0:05:53- He is gorgeous.- Yeah, oh, definitely.- Such a great colour.

0:05:53 > 0:05:55Not that interested in me.

0:05:55 > 0:05:58I really, really don't know how

0:05:58 > 0:06:00I'm going to pick between these dogs.

0:06:00 > 0:06:04- HE CHUCKLES - You've given me an impossible task, Richard.

0:06:08 > 0:06:11You are so lovely! Hello!

0:06:11 > 0:06:15But then, so are you! Awww!

0:06:15 > 0:06:17I thought I'd meet them and know.

0:06:17 > 0:06:19But they are both so cute,

0:06:19 > 0:06:21and they've both got different things going for them.

0:06:21 > 0:06:24'It was, indeed, really a difficult decision.

0:06:24 > 0:06:27'I didn't have time to decide immediately,

0:06:27 > 0:06:30'but then something happened. I had a really strong gut feeling.'

0:06:30 > 0:06:32He looks chilled out,

0:06:32 > 0:06:35and Blue Peter can be quite hectic,

0:06:35 > 0:06:38so I think this might be our new dog.

0:06:41 > 0:06:44Oh, no! How do you say no to him!

0:06:46 > 0:06:49I cannot imagine life without Barney now,

0:06:49 > 0:06:52but cast my mind back, and I felt awful.

0:06:52 > 0:06:54The weekend after Barney came to live with me, I was so worried

0:06:54 > 0:06:59about that other spaniel, and I thought, "What happened to him? Is he still in the Dogs Trust?"

0:06:59 > 0:07:03But there's no need to worry, because he ended up being adopted by a lady called Diana.

0:07:03 > 0:07:06- They named him Daniel. Daniel the spaniel.- Brilliant.

0:07:06 > 0:07:10And he works at the Dogs Trust with them. Apparently he's often in the Wag! magazine.

0:07:10 > 0:07:13Yeah, we had a message from Diana to say he's very boisterous,

0:07:13 > 0:07:16but he's got a lovely personality, and we've got some photos

0:07:16 > 0:07:18This is Daniel the spaniel on holiday in Cornwall.

0:07:18 > 0:07:24We've got a shot of him here in the office, as well, doing some work, as all dogs should do.

0:07:24 > 0:07:27And, finally, this is him with his new family.

0:07:27 > 0:07:30Now, Daniel looks like he has plenty of fun,

0:07:30 > 0:07:34but I can't imagine many dogs can say they've done what you've done.

0:07:34 > 0:07:38We've taken you to the theatre, you've met movie stars, you've delivered gold badges.

0:07:38 > 0:07:41We've been on all kinds of adventures.

0:07:41 > 0:07:44I even tasted dog food for you, once. Yes, I did!

0:07:44 > 0:07:46That's what I did for the love of this dog.

0:07:46 > 0:07:50But he certainly gets stuck into the action.

0:07:58 > 0:08:02You know what you're doing, you're a showbiz dog. I have faith. High-five!

0:08:02 > 0:08:05- High-five! Yeah!- Good boy! Good boy!

0:08:13 > 0:08:15Oh!

0:08:17 > 0:08:20No, you're not at the pet shop. They're having a fight!

0:08:36 > 0:08:39I've got to say, he absolutely loves being on telly.

0:08:39 > 0:08:42People often ask me, "Does he mind being in the studio?"

0:08:42 > 0:08:44He loves the attention, doesn't he?

0:08:44 > 0:08:47Yeah, look at the energy he's putting out here. Look! So excited!

0:08:47 > 0:08:50- Look at him go!- Don't pick on him! - I'm only kidding. You know I love you, Barney.

0:08:50 > 0:08:53We get loads of post sent in from you guys all about Barney the dog.

0:08:53 > 0:08:55This is just the tip of the iceberg,

0:08:55 > 0:08:58but we wanted to show you some of the ones that really caught our eye.

0:08:58 > 0:09:01I love this one which was sent in by Georgia from Manchester.

0:09:01 > 0:09:02It's got Barney the dog,

0:09:02 > 0:09:05and she's painted a little wife. This is Bonnie.

0:09:05 > 0:09:07As far as I know he hasn't got a wife,

0:09:07 > 0:09:09unless there something you haven't told me.

0:09:09 > 0:09:13But if there's any Bonnies out there watching, Barney is available.

0:09:13 > 0:09:16- Not until she's met me, all right? - All right.

0:09:16 > 0:09:18This was sent in by Julie in Bristol.

0:09:18 > 0:09:19We're both on there, Barney.

0:09:19 > 0:09:22You're waving enthusiastically, we've got the other pets...

0:09:22 > 0:09:24I always do, watch.

0:09:24 > 0:09:26..Shelley, Suggs and Cookie.

0:09:26 > 0:09:28Underneath, we've got a very colourful picture

0:09:28 > 0:09:30which was sent in by Molly,

0:09:30 > 0:09:32and that is Barney enjoying the Blue Peter garden.

0:09:32 > 0:09:35By a house, which I think we should get in the Blue Peter garden.

0:09:35 > 0:09:37Great idea.

0:09:37 > 0:09:39This is Barney in pencil. It's been drawn by Laura.

0:09:39 > 0:09:41Spent a long time putting detail into the fur.

0:09:41 > 0:09:45Even got his tongue out, which Barney does a lot, cos he's cheeky.

0:09:45 > 0:09:47Up here, Maxine's picture. Look at that.

0:09:47 > 0:09:49We've got Barney the dog, the Blue Peter ship,

0:09:49 > 0:09:51it's got "Blue Peter" around the borders.

0:09:51 > 0:09:54And we have a blue border round the whole thing. Very cool.

0:09:54 > 0:09:57Have a look at Farah's picture here, as well.

0:09:57 > 0:09:59Farah's is Helen and Barney.

0:09:59 > 0:10:02Helen is doing that lovely showbiz presenter pose,

0:10:02 > 0:10:04and Barney is kind of doing the same, isn't he?

0:10:04 > 0:10:07- What a lovely picture.- He's got loads of showbiz presenter poses.- He has.

0:10:07 > 0:10:10You taught him everything he knows, didn't you?

0:10:10 > 0:10:14Right then, keep your e-mails, letters and pictures coming in, we read everything you send us,

0:10:14 > 0:10:17so please keep it coming, and we'll try and get some on the telly.

0:10:17 > 0:10:19The best thing about Blue Peter for me,

0:10:19 > 0:10:21not just your pictures, but it's going behind the scenes

0:10:21 > 0:10:23so that we can give you the inside story on everything.

0:10:23 > 0:10:27And when I got the chance to animate my own character in the latest Aardman movie,

0:10:27 > 0:10:30I jumped at the chance. This is number eight in our countdown,

0:10:30 > 0:10:33when I went behind the scenes on a movie set.

0:10:35 > 0:10:38I'm about to watch the director, Peter Lord, act out the scene

0:10:38 > 0:10:42that he would like me to animate on our pirate captain over here.

0:10:42 > 0:10:44So this is what I have to do.

0:10:44 > 0:10:45Argh!

0:10:45 > 0:10:48'It's so quick, I have to watch it again.'

0:10:48 > 0:10:53- That's not even a second, is it? - 62 frames, so it's just over two seconds.- OK.

0:10:55 > 0:10:58'One second of a movie is made up of 24 frames.

0:10:58 > 0:11:02'This clip is just two seconds and 14 frames long.'

0:11:02 > 0:11:07- That normally would take you how long to animate?- Erm, a day?

0:11:07 > 0:11:09- How long have I got?- Two hours.

0:11:09 > 0:11:13I better get started then, hadn't I?

0:11:13 > 0:11:18'Stop-frame animation works by taking frame by frame shots on a camera.'

0:11:18 > 0:11:19Head turns a little bit.

0:11:19 > 0:11:23'Between each shot, the characters are repositioned just a tiny amount.'

0:11:23 > 0:11:25I'm happy with how he's posed.

0:11:25 > 0:11:29'So when the shots are played continuously, it looks like the characters are moving.'

0:11:29 > 0:11:32That's it done, first frame. Yay!

0:11:32 > 0:11:36'The key to this process is patience, and intense attention to detail.'

0:11:36 > 0:11:40At the moment, all I'm doing is making him crouch to turn round and chuck his sword out.

0:11:40 > 0:11:45But when you crouch, your shoulders move, your head moves, your neck turns. It's incredibly hard.

0:11:45 > 0:11:49I mean, I'm hardly moving it at all, and it's making quite a big impact on the screen.

0:11:49 > 0:11:53'But creating a character is about more than just moving their body.

0:11:53 > 0:11:56'When I finally get the pirate captain facing the camera,

0:11:56 > 0:11:59'I have to think about his facial movements, too.'

0:11:59 > 0:12:01What I'm trying to do here is keep his eyes down the lens

0:12:01 > 0:12:04of the camera, so it looks like he's looking straight at you.

0:12:04 > 0:12:07It's the most intricate thing I think I've ever done.

0:12:07 > 0:12:11'In Aardman's previous films, it was up to the animator to remould

0:12:11 > 0:12:14'the character's mouth into the correct shape to give the illusion of speech.

0:12:14 > 0:12:16'But for this movie, the animators have

0:12:16 > 0:12:20'the luxury of a range of mouths created on a 3-D printer.'

0:12:22 > 0:12:24Just to change the mouth takes some doing.

0:12:24 > 0:12:29You have to take his beard off first, then slide the mouth off. So fiddly.

0:12:29 > 0:12:31'7,000 mouths were printed in total,

0:12:31 > 0:12:33'with 1,400 for the pirate captain alone.'

0:12:33 > 0:12:38I've got 30 minutes left, and I can already sense

0:12:38 > 0:12:42I don't have enough time to get all the mouths in and take the pictures.

0:12:42 > 0:12:44Slightly over to the left.

0:12:44 > 0:12:46'With my two hours running out fast...'

0:12:46 > 0:12:48There, there! That's it!

0:12:48 > 0:12:52'..And director Peter Lord waiting in another room to watch my efforts, I start to panic just a little.'

0:12:52 > 0:12:56Put the wrong mouth on. Good.

0:12:56 > 0:12:58I'm going to improvise now, because I completely messed this up.

0:12:58 > 0:13:02'Peter's impressive movie credentials include animated favourites

0:13:02 > 0:13:04'like Chicken Run, and Wallace and Gromit,

0:13:04 > 0:13:06'so the pressure is really on to do well.'

0:13:08 > 0:13:11As long as it has the right feel, good performance and delivers

0:13:11 > 0:13:14exactly what Pete is requesting, then it's going to be a good shot.

0:13:14 > 0:13:17I've completely just disregarded Peter Lord's video.

0:13:17 > 0:13:20I'm not even looking at it any more. I'm so sorry, director, Sir.

0:13:20 > 0:13:24I've just gone with what feels right and what looks, I think, half decent.

0:13:24 > 0:13:25'Time's up.

0:13:25 > 0:13:29'What will this Oscar-winning animator think of my humble efforts?'

0:13:29 > 0:13:31- How are you?- Hiya. Good to see you.- You too.

0:13:31 > 0:13:35- Welcome.- Thanks very much. It's the moment of truth.

0:13:37 > 0:13:38Aargh!

0:13:42 > 0:13:45I'm not sure that I'm going to offer you a job, like, today.

0:13:45 > 0:13:50What you've done with the turn of the body, I'm liking that.

0:13:50 > 0:13:52If you were doing it for real, I'd say bigger,

0:13:52 > 0:13:55I'd say a bigger gesture, a bigger arc.

0:13:55 > 0:13:58I would have gone back and done a few things differently,

0:13:58 > 0:14:01but I just knew I had to get him face-on at the end.

0:14:01 > 0:14:04- Did you move the eyes? Put the pins in?- I did, yeah.- Scary, isn't it?

0:14:04 > 0:14:06By the end, I think his left eye's slightly wrong.

0:14:06 > 0:14:08- Gives him a slightly dazed look, doesn't it?- Yeah.

0:14:08 > 0:14:10But I've really enjoyed it. Thank you very much.

0:14:10 > 0:14:15- Good, thank you. And you've done a good job.- Yes! - Done a good job, there.

0:14:15 > 0:14:19Peter Lord is such a nice guy, and the people at Aardman are legends.

0:14:19 > 0:14:22- I had such a good day.- How excited were you? You just went...

0:14:22 > 0:14:24I know, I actually punched the air, I was that excited.

0:14:24 > 0:14:27Actually, after the conversation we had just there on camera,

0:14:27 > 0:14:30afterwards, Peter Lord was saying he's a massive Blue Peter fan.

0:14:30 > 0:14:33And to show his homage to the show, he's given one of his characters,

0:14:33 > 0:14:35Pirate With Gout, a Blue Peter badge on his hat.

0:14:35 > 0:14:38Have you seen the movie? Did you spot it? It's brilliant!

0:14:38 > 0:14:41When we saw that, we were all like, "Yes! We're in the film!"

0:14:41 > 0:14:43And it's not that subtle, you can spot it, so keep an eye out for it.

0:14:43 > 0:14:46- And you know what?- He's given him a nose like our producer, as well.

0:14:46 > 0:14:49- You're going to never work again after that comment.- Sorry, sorry.

0:14:49 > 0:14:52Aardman aren't the only ones who are good at animation,

0:14:52 > 0:14:56Ella has sent us a Blue Peter animation. Have a look at this.

0:14:56 > 0:14:59If you're thinking of having a go at stop-motion animation,

0:14:59 > 0:15:00it really is a brilliant thing to do.

0:15:00 > 0:15:02All you need is a camera and your own imagination,

0:15:02 > 0:15:05and as you can see, that's being used to its full potential here.

0:15:05 > 0:15:07This is brilliant. You've got a guy with a staff,

0:15:07 > 0:15:09and he's laser-beaming letters.

0:15:09 > 0:15:14Now, it's starting to spell something that I'm recognising, but, erm...

0:15:14 > 0:15:16Ella is a genius. Look, chickens in the letters as well.

0:15:16 > 0:15:19Oh, the ship's coming past. Brilliant.

0:15:19 > 0:15:23Now, stop-motion animation is 24 shots per second

0:15:23 > 0:15:25which is obviously quite a lot of work.

0:15:25 > 0:15:28Nice wheelie on the bike. I'm loving it. What a touch of genius that is.

0:15:28 > 0:15:31You've got to give this a go. Look at what you can do.

0:15:31 > 0:15:34That was such a clever piece of animation.

0:15:34 > 0:15:37If you've got some stop-motion you'd like to share with Blue Peter,

0:15:37 > 0:15:39send it in. We love it.

0:15:39 > 0:15:41You've got to be so patient. Well done, Ella.

0:15:41 > 0:15:43We were really, really impressed.

0:15:43 > 0:15:45Now, sometimes on Blue Peter,

0:15:45 > 0:15:48Barney and I are really asked to push ourselves to the limit.

0:15:48 > 0:15:50That's exactly what happened when I was challenged

0:15:50 > 0:15:54to walk a high-wire between the two chimneys at Battersea power station.

0:15:54 > 0:15:58It was 150 metres long and 66 metres in the air.

0:15:58 > 0:16:00If you're trying to work out how tall that is,

0:16:00 > 0:16:03it's eight double-decker buses stacked on top of each other.

0:16:03 > 0:16:04That's high.

0:16:04 > 0:16:07It was high and it was very, very windy.

0:16:07 > 0:16:10I was nervous, to say the least.

0:16:10 > 0:16:12And that's why it's made it to number seven on our countdown.

0:16:17 > 0:16:18Oh, it's so windy.

0:16:18 > 0:16:21Aah!

0:16:21 > 0:16:22Now, I just want to get this over with.

0:16:22 > 0:16:25Just get across to the other side. Let's put this to bed.

0:16:33 > 0:16:36Move your fingers.

0:16:36 > 0:16:40One step in front of the other. That's how we get to the other side.

0:16:55 > 0:16:57I've got you in my ear now, so I can hear you.

0:17:08 > 0:17:11Relax your shoulders. There you go.

0:17:11 > 0:17:13Pull your arms in.

0:17:15 > 0:17:18Come on, Helen.

0:17:26 > 0:17:31'The wire is wobbling and I know I'm doing it. I need to take control.'

0:17:35 > 0:17:37She's a bit nervous

0:17:37 > 0:17:41but she's using all the techniques that I've taught her.

0:18:05 > 0:18:08I don't think there's an easier or harder part in the whole walk

0:18:08 > 0:18:10but she's looking good.

0:18:10 > 0:18:12She was a little nervous. Kind of, "Where am I?

0:18:12 > 0:18:15"What am I doing up here?" Now she knows where she is.

0:18:25 > 0:18:27Slow down on the pulley.

0:18:41 > 0:18:46'The wind is really starting to pick up and I feel totally exposed.'

0:18:46 > 0:18:48Ugh, wind.

0:18:48 > 0:18:50Please go away.

0:18:54 > 0:18:57'I'm out on a limb but I've only got one place to go.'

0:19:11 > 0:19:14'As the uphill gets steeper, my arms are burning.'

0:19:30 > 0:19:32She's about, what, three metres away from the end.

0:19:32 > 0:19:34- Oh, mate.- Come on, Helen.

0:19:46 > 0:19:48'I know I'm almost there but I daren't look up.

0:19:48 > 0:19:51'I need to focus more than ever.'

0:20:34 > 0:20:35SHE SCREAMS

0:20:35 > 0:20:37Yes!

0:20:37 > 0:20:40APPLAUSE

0:20:47 > 0:20:48Thank you!

0:20:50 > 0:20:52MUSIC DROWNS OUT SPEECH

0:20:55 > 0:20:57APPLAUSE

0:20:57 > 0:20:58That is what Blue Peter is all about.

0:20:58 > 0:21:01Facing your fears and we're here to encourage you to do the same.

0:21:01 > 0:21:03Overcome your fears. It feels amazing when you do.

0:21:03 > 0:21:05It's not bad to be scared.

0:21:05 > 0:21:08Having said that, amazing isn't exactly how I'd describe

0:21:08 > 0:21:10how I felt on the first show that I did for Blue Peter

0:21:10 > 0:21:12cos they found out I don't like frogs.

0:21:12 > 0:21:14Like, really don't like frogs. So, they made me do this.

0:21:14 > 0:21:18That was a rookie mistake. Never tell Blue Peter what you're scared of.

0:21:18 > 0:21:21I'll explain why I don't like holding frogs,

0:21:21 > 0:21:23When I was younger, I went on holiday to Florida

0:21:23 > 0:21:25and they have a pool in the villas.

0:21:25 > 0:21:28- Ooh!- And in the pool was a frog. A dead frog.

0:21:28 > 0:21:30My sister was scared so I went in to take it out

0:21:30 > 0:21:33and as I pulled it out, it had decomposed

0:21:33 > 0:21:37and my finger went through its tummy but it was still alive.

0:21:37 > 0:21:39So it gripped my finger and I threw it

0:21:39 > 0:21:41and it just exploded against the fence.

0:21:41 > 0:21:44It was all very horrible and very graphic.

0:21:44 > 0:21:46Sorry if you're having your tea.

0:21:46 > 0:21:48Sorry about that but that's why I don't hold frogs.

0:21:48 > 0:21:51Right, well, once he conquered that, we set him another challenge

0:21:51 > 0:21:55and this one was really set to keep Barney on his toes.

0:21:55 > 0:21:57Well, on point in fact. I was asked to join the BalletBoyz,

0:21:57 > 0:22:00a professional troupe of dancers who've performed

0:22:00 > 0:22:02to packed-out audiences across the world.

0:22:02 > 0:22:04I had 24 hours to learn a dance routine

0:22:04 > 0:22:07and perform with them on the opening night of their brand new tour.

0:22:07 > 0:22:08I was convinced I'd forgotten the steps.

0:22:08 > 0:22:11At number six, here's when I joined the BalletBoyz.

0:22:22 > 0:22:24It's funny, we've just come on to the stage

0:22:24 > 0:22:27for a bit of a warm-up before the show and I've just heard

0:22:27 > 0:22:31the rumble of the audience who are all talking in anticipation.

0:22:31 > 0:22:35I was OK till this point and now I've just suddenly got very, very nervous.

0:22:40 > 0:22:44'Before I know it, it's time for me to perform.

0:22:44 > 0:22:47'Can I hold it together for just a few minutes more?'

0:22:47 > 0:22:49APPLAUSE

0:23:23 > 0:23:25'My performance is going well.

0:23:25 > 0:23:29'Then suddenly my mind is blank and I'm losing track of the routine.'

0:23:36 > 0:23:38I came up too early on one of the moves.

0:23:38 > 0:23:41The one move I didn't want to come up on, I came up on.

0:23:45 > 0:23:48I just went blank. I knew I would.

0:23:53 > 0:23:55Gutted.

0:23:55 > 0:23:57'And my performance isn't over yet.'

0:23:57 > 0:24:00I've got one more bit to do.

0:24:00 > 0:24:04Which is the run and the jump and now that I've got one thing wrong,

0:24:04 > 0:24:06I'm talking myself out of it.

0:24:06 > 0:24:09I'm thinking, "Is it the left foot or the right foot?" I've got to focus.

0:24:09 > 0:24:12I've got to focus on the next thing and just get it right.

0:24:17 > 0:24:19'I cannot afford to mess this jump up.'

0:24:35 > 0:24:38'I do it! I get the jump just right.'

0:24:48 > 0:24:51APPLAUSE AND CHEERING

0:24:53 > 0:24:55What I liked was that he did what we told him to.

0:24:55 > 0:24:59He ran off the way we told him to. Everything was in the right place.

0:24:59 > 0:25:02- A couple of things not at the right time.- It could've been a lot worse.

0:25:02 > 0:25:06I think it's a huge achievement.

0:25:06 > 0:25:10You've got, what, 1,000 people out there watching your every move.

0:25:10 > 0:25:12There's no camera to cut or do it again.

0:25:12 > 0:25:15You've just got to do it right first time or not. That's tough.

0:25:17 > 0:25:20The boy did good. The boy did good.

0:25:20 > 0:25:22APPLAUSE

0:25:22 > 0:25:24You can feel the nerves and you're still in the wings.

0:25:24 > 0:25:27If you've ever been in a school play,

0:25:27 > 0:25:29before you go on you get that, "Don't know what I'm doing.

0:25:29 > 0:25:32"Don't know why I'm here. Don't know what my name is."

0:25:32 > 0:25:34I describe it as the rollercoaster. You don't want to go on it

0:25:34 > 0:25:36but once you do, you want to do it again.

0:25:36 > 0:25:39- I had a great time but it was nerve-wracking.- You did very well.

0:25:39 > 0:25:42And well done to the BalletBoyz. Now, here on Blue Peter,
