0:00:07 > 0:00:10This bespoke boat brings together your beautiful badges

0:00:10 > 0:00:12for our Big Badge Boat Bonanza.

0:00:12 > 0:00:14Prepare to be bedazzled as you too can build this

0:00:14 > 0:00:17bodacious beauty of a boat.

0:00:17 > 0:00:18Boom!

0:00:35 > 0:00:37Hello!

0:00:37 > 0:00:38Welcome to Blue Peter.

0:00:38 > 0:00:40And we're out in the garden, which is a good job,

0:00:40 > 0:00:42because we've brought this lot with us!

0:00:42 > 0:00:45CHEERING

0:00:45 > 0:00:48Very good. So well-trained. They've got an important job to do today,

0:00:48 > 0:00:50because they're interviewing X Factor boyband,

0:00:50 > 0:00:53- 5 After Midnight. Got your questions ready?- Yes!- Good, thank you.

0:00:53 > 0:00:56As well as that, on today's show, you'll see how Radzi and I

0:00:56 > 0:00:59got on when we took on the Royal Marine Commando training camp.

0:00:59 > 0:01:01It was pretty hard, wasn't it?

0:01:01 > 0:01:05- And, clue, it involved a lot of mud. - A lot of mud.- Up my nose!

0:01:05 > 0:01:06Now, look at this lovely lady.

0:01:06 > 0:01:09She's called Shelley, and once again, she's snuck into the show.

0:01:09 > 0:01:10The question is, where?

0:01:10 > 0:01:13Jump onto the Blue Peter Fan Club, see if you can see her.

0:01:13 > 0:01:15Leave us a comment. Be the first one to do it.

0:01:15 > 0:01:18First person to do it wins their very own...baby caterpillar.

0:01:18 > 0:01:20- I don't know.- Aw, that's a nice one! That'd be lovely.

0:01:20 > 0:01:23Anyway, a lot of you are probably on your summer holidays,

0:01:23 > 0:01:25question is, what are you going to do with all that spare time?

0:01:25 > 0:01:29How about trying to earn all of your BP badges?

0:01:29 > 0:01:31And to help inspire you to do that, we've come up

0:01:31 > 0:01:34with the Big Badge Boat Bonanza.

0:01:34 > 0:01:36And when I say big, I mean it. Check this out!

0:01:39 > 0:01:42Wow! This is absolutely ridiculous.

0:01:42 > 0:01:45And joining me is the woman responsible for making this

0:01:45 > 0:01:48creation, it's Jemma Westing!

0:01:48 > 0:01:50- Hello, Jemma. You really are a genius.- Thank you very much!

0:01:50 > 0:01:52This is awesome. Is it all really made of cardboard?

0:01:52 > 0:01:54Every little bit, Lindsey.

0:01:54 > 0:01:57I'm a designer and a paper engineer, which means I use cardboard

0:01:57 > 0:01:58to help me make things.

0:01:58 > 0:02:01My real passion is to recycle old cardboard packaging

0:02:01 > 0:02:02that no-one wants any more,

0:02:02 > 0:02:05and I turn it into some cool things that you can make at home.

0:02:05 > 0:02:07So this is where my new book's come from.

0:02:07 > 0:02:09It's called Out Of The Box,

0:02:09 > 0:02:11and it's got 25 of my favourite things.

0:02:11 > 0:02:14There are things you can sit in, things you can play with,

0:02:14 > 0:02:16and there are even things you can wear.

0:02:16 > 0:02:17You're amazing.

0:02:17 > 0:02:20I take my hat off to you, because this is much like what

0:02:20 > 0:02:21we make on Blue Peter quite a lot.

0:02:21 > 0:02:23And speaking of makes, you're going to help us

0:02:23 > 0:02:25- today make this ship, aren't you? - I am.

0:02:25 > 0:02:27But I made this in my living room, and it's really awkward.

0:02:27 > 0:02:29- So today I have...- Oh, my goodness!

0:02:29 > 0:02:32Yeah, that takes up the entire living room!

0:02:32 > 0:02:34- It's 12 foot, isn't it? - It's about 13 foot, yeah.- Oh! OK.

0:02:34 > 0:02:36So I have made one out of a cereal box,

0:02:36 > 0:02:39- so I think that's what we'll do today.- Come on, I'll help you out.

0:02:39 > 0:02:40Let's walk this way.

0:02:40 > 0:02:43Have a look at this - it's colourful, it's amazing,

0:02:43 > 0:02:46and it's a great place to store all of your Blue Peter badges that

0:02:46 > 0:02:48I know you're all going to be collecting this summer.

0:02:48 > 0:02:50So, Jemma, would you like to do the honours?

0:02:50 > 0:02:52- Kick us off, what are we going to need?- I would.

0:02:52 > 0:02:53You are going to need...

0:03:02 > 0:03:05You are making my job very easy today, so professional!

0:03:05 > 0:03:08- Right, shall we get started? - Yep.- Let's do it.

0:03:08 > 0:03:11So the first thing you need to do is head-on to the good old BP website

0:03:11 > 0:03:13and download your templates, like so.

0:03:13 > 0:03:16Now, a couple of these we don't need at the moment - goodbye, sails -

0:03:16 > 0:03:20but you do need this one, that is to make the main body of your ship.

0:03:20 > 0:03:24So once you've cut all the way around that one,

0:03:24 > 0:03:26you need to plonk that - plonk!

0:03:26 > 0:03:29That's the official term - onto your cereal box, like so.

0:03:29 > 0:03:31Place it nice and neatly.

0:03:31 > 0:03:34And then grab a pen and start to neatly - I say neatly,

0:03:34 > 0:03:38- I'm not very neat - trace around it. Right, Jem?- Yeah.

0:03:38 > 0:03:40Now, I'm going to give you a top tip for this.

0:03:40 > 0:03:42When you cut your template out, make sure you put it to the

0:03:42 > 0:03:45very bottom edge of the box, so when you cut your boat out,

0:03:45 > 0:03:48it's going to stand up, be nice and straight, and it won't topple over.

0:03:48 > 0:03:50That is correct. So, I've gone all the way around there.

0:03:50 > 0:03:53And you might notice, actually, I've been a bit sneaky.

0:03:53 > 0:03:56Because you need to extend these lines here.

0:03:56 > 0:03:58That is really important,

0:03:58 > 0:04:00because we're going to need these bits of the box.

0:04:00 > 0:04:05Once you've gone all the way round, cut it out on both sides.

0:04:05 > 0:04:09You should have something that looks a little bit like this.

0:04:09 > 0:04:13I know that doesn't look very boaty at the moment, but once you kind

0:04:13 > 0:04:17of put it down, put it together, it goes from being 2-D to 3-D.

0:04:17 > 0:04:19And that's why we had to extend those lines,

0:04:19 > 0:04:22so that we can tape all of those together.

0:04:22 > 0:04:25And once you've done that nice and neatly, do get a parent to help,

0:04:25 > 0:04:28because it can be fiddly, especially if you decide to do it

0:04:28 > 0:04:30in your garden, in the wind, like we have.

0:04:30 > 0:04:32It should look something like this. Now we've got the base of our boat.

0:04:32 > 0:04:36But I've been very sneaky, Jemma, because I've saved the other

0:04:36 > 0:04:41side of the cereal box, like so, with just a 1cm bit on each side.

0:04:41 > 0:04:43What are we going to do with that, Jemma?

0:04:43 > 0:04:45This is going to be your decking for your ship.

0:04:45 > 0:04:48- The first thing you need to do is fold it in half, like that.- Nice.

0:04:48 > 0:04:51Bit stiff, do that.

0:04:51 > 0:04:53Now you want to cut it into three sections.

0:04:53 > 0:04:56So you need the large section for your middle deck, and then

0:04:56 > 0:04:59you need two slightly shorter sections for your upper deck.

0:04:59 > 0:05:02So I'm going to cut a short one, there we go. That's one.

0:05:02 > 0:05:05- For the other end...- It's blowing away! I've got it.- It's windy.

0:05:05 > 0:05:08And another. Now, we need to put some holes into this.

0:05:08 > 0:05:12So we're going to take a nice big blob of tack, stick it down.

0:05:12 > 0:05:14And on the folded bit, place it on top, and take

0:05:14 > 0:05:18one of your skewers and pierce a nice, big hole in the centre.

0:05:18 > 0:05:19That's very satisfying, that.

0:05:19 > 0:05:23If this is a bit tricky - because I've just made a mess of it,

0:05:23 > 0:05:25like that - try again, or ask an adult to help you. There we go.

0:05:25 > 0:05:28I've done it once, that's that one.

0:05:28 > 0:05:30Now, you want to put a hole into these as well.

0:05:30 > 0:05:33You're going to put holes in these, right about there, on the end.

0:05:33 > 0:05:34I'll demonstrate again.

0:05:34 > 0:05:38- We haven't given you the sharpest bits, to be fair.- You haven't.

0:05:38 > 0:05:40And do the same to the other piece.

0:05:40 > 0:05:42OK, once you've done that to all your bits, and you get them

0:05:42 > 0:05:46inside your boat, you should have something that looks like this.

0:05:46 > 0:05:47- Lovely!- Look at that.

0:05:47 > 0:05:49And you can see on the inside,

0:05:49 > 0:05:52we've just secured everything there with a little bit of tape.

0:05:52 > 0:05:55It's looking good, but next, we need to do the fun part, don't we?

0:05:55 > 0:05:58- This can get a bit messy.- I think we should paint it.- Let's paint it!

0:05:58 > 0:06:00Once we've painted it - we've gone for blue with ours,

0:06:00 > 0:06:03as you can see - it should look... Do you want to do the honours?

0:06:03 > 0:06:05I will. It'll look something a little like this.

0:06:05 > 0:06:08- Beautiful!- Lovely and blue. Lindsey has painted this many times.

0:06:08 > 0:06:11Many times. Many layers is a good, top tip. You might need it.

0:06:11 > 0:06:13So, the next thing to do is to get your mast in.

0:06:13 > 0:06:17It is. Now, for the mast, you want a single skewer for the front

0:06:17 > 0:06:19and back masts.

0:06:19 > 0:06:21So, first thing, take a skewer with the pointed end down.

0:06:21 > 0:06:23Slide that through the hole you've just made.

0:06:23 > 0:06:26- I'm going to rotate that round so you can see.- Ah, perfect.

0:06:26 > 0:06:29Don't push it all the way down, because you need a big blob of tack.

0:06:29 > 0:06:32You're going to stick it on the end of the hole, just like that.

0:06:32 > 0:06:35Give it a push, and then you're going to push

0:06:35 > 0:06:37your stick right down into it,

0:06:37 > 0:06:39- so it'll be nice and secure. - Sturdy.

0:06:39 > 0:06:43Now, your middle mast is a bit taller than the other two, so all

0:06:43 > 0:06:46you need to do is stick two together so you've got a length of about...

0:06:46 > 0:06:49Sorry! ..35cm long!

0:06:49 > 0:06:52Again, pointed end down, be nice and safe, put it through,

0:06:52 > 0:06:55and you're going to put it down into another blob of sticky tack,

0:06:55 > 0:06:57so just push that in there.

0:06:57 > 0:07:00When you've done your three upright masts, turn the boat round.

0:07:00 > 0:07:03We need to cut a notch out of the front of your boat.

0:07:03 > 0:07:06- A notch, I like all these words today.- A small triangle.

0:07:06 > 0:07:09- So I'm going to try and do this carefully now.- OK.

0:07:09 > 0:07:11You can get an adult to help as well with this bit.

0:07:11 > 0:07:15Take another skewer, and you want to cut it down to about 15cm long.

0:07:15 > 0:07:19And you're going to place it on the front, point first,

0:07:19 > 0:07:23bit of sticky tape, and you're going to stick it in place.

0:07:23 > 0:07:26So when you've done all your sticks, you now need to do the sails.

0:07:26 > 0:07:28- We need to do the sails, that's my cue.- There we go.

0:07:28 > 0:07:30Oh, actually, I need to finish this.

0:07:30 > 0:07:32Head onto the Blue Peter website, like we said,

0:07:32 > 0:07:35get your templates ready, and then, on each template, like so,

0:07:35 > 0:07:38once you've laid them out, you need to cut each one out

0:07:38 > 0:07:41and put it on a different piece of coloured card.

0:07:41 > 0:07:42And once you've done that,

0:07:42 > 0:07:44you'll have some beautiful sails that look like this.

0:07:44 > 0:07:47Look at that! We've got blue, purple, silver, red and green.

0:07:47 > 0:07:50- And then it's all about attaching them, isn't it?- Yes, it is.

0:07:50 > 0:07:52Let me do the front mast.

0:07:52 > 0:07:55You're going to take your sail and pop it over the mast,

0:07:55 > 0:07:56just like that, on the top.

0:07:56 > 0:07:59Then all you need to do is secure it with some sticky tape, OK?

0:07:59 > 0:08:02So I'm going to but a little bit at the bottom, just like that.

0:08:02 > 0:08:05And a little bit on the top.

0:08:05 > 0:08:07- There we go.- That's so clever.

0:08:07 > 0:08:08And you do the same with all the others.

0:08:08 > 0:08:09And once you've done it,

0:08:09 > 0:08:13you should have something that looks like this perfect Big Badge Boat.

0:08:13 > 0:08:15- How good is that? - That's amazing.- It's amazing.

0:08:15 > 0:08:18You might have noticed that all our different sails obviously

0:08:18 > 0:08:20represent a different Blue Peter badge.

0:08:20 > 0:08:23So we've got the green, the blue, the silver, the purple

0:08:23 > 0:08:25and you will notice that the red one is empty.

0:08:25 > 0:08:28And that's because we've got some very exciting news coming up next

0:08:28 > 0:08:31week, all about our sport badge 2017, which is going to be great.

0:08:31 > 0:08:34- Exciting.- In the meantime, Jemma, thank you so much for coming in.

0:08:34 > 0:08:36- Thank you!- Made our job very easy, what a pro!

0:08:36 > 0:08:39We hope that's inspired you to make your very own Big Badge Boat

0:08:39 > 0:08:41to display all your wonderful badges.

0:08:41 > 0:08:43All the details are on the Blue Peter website,

0:08:43 > 0:08:44so make your very own Big Badge Boat.

0:08:44 > 0:08:46In the meantime,

0:08:46 > 0:08:49here's a few people who've already earned their blue badges.

0:08:49 > 0:08:51Do you remember a couple of weeks ago when,

0:08:51 > 0:08:55outside the Blue Peter studio, we actually had real-life jousting?

0:08:55 > 0:08:58Of course you do! Why? Because it was awesome.

0:08:58 > 0:09:01Well, Isabel, you've perfectly recreated it.

0:09:01 > 0:09:04When Lindsey had a go riding her trusty steed into battle,

0:09:04 > 0:09:06and striking a quintain.

0:09:06 > 0:09:08I had to read that, because I couldn't remember it.

0:09:09 > 0:09:12The Middle Ages are definitely trendy. How do I know that?

0:09:12 > 0:09:15Because, Matilda, you've sent in this fantastic shield.

0:09:15 > 0:09:18You're from Dorset, and in the middle of your shield isn't

0:09:18 > 0:09:21a coat of arms, it's a Blue Peter ship.

0:09:21 > 0:09:23And what could protect you more than

0:09:23 > 0:09:25the badge in the middle of a shield?

0:09:25 > 0:09:29Well, actually, you've got a real-life badge coming your way.

0:09:29 > 0:09:32Hammad from London, you're clearly loving the summer sunshine.

0:09:32 > 0:09:35We've got a happy pineapple, we've got a happy pineapple chunk,

0:09:35 > 0:09:37and we've even got a happy coconut!

0:09:37 > 0:09:39There's one thing I need to do now...

0:09:39 > 0:09:41That's the happy dance!

0:09:43 > 0:09:47Marisa from Devon, you've sent us some post that actually moves.

0:09:47 > 0:09:51Look at Barney smile as he flies downhill on his mountain bike.

0:09:51 > 0:09:52Go, Barney, go!

0:09:54 > 0:09:58Zoe from Derby, sound the cute alarm!

0:09:58 > 0:10:01Because you've make the perfect Lindsey and Iggy,

0:10:01 > 0:10:03and you've make it out of felt.

0:10:03 > 0:10:08That gets a high five through your television screen right now.

0:10:08 > 0:10:12Feast your eyes on this cacophony of colour sent in to us

0:10:12 > 0:10:14from Stella in Surrey.

0:10:14 > 0:10:17The amount of felt tips you must have gone through making this

0:10:17 > 0:10:20I could not count, but I'll tell you what,

0:10:20 > 0:10:23it was worth every single one of them.

0:10:23 > 0:10:26So, well done to all of you. Give yourselves a round of applause,

0:10:26 > 0:10:29give yourselves a pat on the back, because you've got style, you've got

0:10:29 > 0:10:33skill and you've now got yourselves your very own Blue Peter badges.

0:10:33 > 0:10:36Well done to anyone who's already earned their blue badge.

0:10:36 > 0:10:39Only four more to go in this summer's Big Badge Boat Bonanza,

0:10:39 > 0:10:41which we're loving. All the details you need of how to earn your

0:10:41 > 0:10:43badge are on the Blue Peter website.

0:10:43 > 0:10:45Talking about the BP Big Badge Boat Bonanza -

0:10:45 > 0:10:49I like saying it really quickly - that's a challenge for you at home.

0:10:49 > 0:10:51For us, however, we had our own challenge

0:10:51 > 0:10:55just to show you how much we love our Blue Peter badges too.

0:10:56 > 0:10:59Radz, I don't want to panic you, but where are we?

0:10:59 > 0:11:00I was going to ask the same question.

0:11:00 > 0:11:02I have no idea what's going on.

0:11:02 > 0:11:04Something big must be happening because there is a drone up

0:11:04 > 0:11:08there and we are doing some pretty cool walking shots right now.

0:11:08 > 0:11:10- Shall we go and find out? - Let's do it.- Come on.

0:11:10 > 0:11:14All we know is we're meeting someone at this military base

0:11:14 > 0:11:15in Lympstone, Devon.

0:11:18 > 0:11:20Guys, welcome to the Commando Training Centre

0:11:20 > 0:11:24Royal Marines, where we turn young men into Royal Marine Commandos.

0:11:24 > 0:11:25Oh, dear.

0:11:26 > 0:11:29Over the last 350 years,

0:11:29 > 0:11:31the Royal Marines Commandos have become famous for being

0:11:31 > 0:11:36one of the toughest, fittest and finest military forces on earth.

0:11:36 > 0:11:40Training to become a Royal Marine Commando is gruelling

0:11:40 > 0:11:42and happens right here.

0:11:42 > 0:11:45Whatever we're about to do, it's not going to be easy.

0:11:46 > 0:11:48Over the next 24 hours, you're going to live,

0:11:48 > 0:11:50eat and breathe like a Royal Marine recruit.

0:11:50 > 0:11:53You'll do some of the hardest things you've ever done,

0:11:53 > 0:11:56- but with the right mental attitude, you will enjoy it.- Wow.

0:11:56 > 0:11:58We're about to join a group of recruits as

0:11:58 > 0:12:01they try to become commandos and experience

0:12:01 > 0:12:06some of the training exercises they go through on a daily basis,

0:12:06 > 0:12:09to try and get a tiny taste of what it takes.

0:12:09 > 0:12:12Let's go and get our kit.

0:12:12 > 0:12:14- Now?- Yeah, let's go, let's go!

0:12:14 > 0:12:17It all begins at the crack of dawn tomorrow.

0:12:17 > 0:12:21- So once we've collected our kit...- Thank you. Cheers.

0:12:21 > 0:12:23..we need to get some sleep.

0:12:23 > 0:12:24I am very excited.

0:12:24 > 0:12:28Blue Peter and what we're about to do go way back.

0:12:28 > 0:12:32Simon Thomas, Matt Baker, Helen Skelton, they've all done this,

0:12:32 > 0:12:36so this is our rite of passage, but we've got to do it properly.

0:12:36 > 0:12:38We've got to make the Royal Marines proud and,

0:12:38 > 0:12:41what's more, we've got to make you proud.

0:12:41 > 0:12:44I am genuinely quite up for tomorrow.

0:12:44 > 0:12:46I'm quite looking forward to it.

0:12:46 > 0:12:48I know I'm not going to say that during whatever challenge it is,

0:12:48 > 0:12:49but I'm excited.

0:12:49 > 0:12:54As the sun rises, we have no idea what we'll have

0:12:54 > 0:12:56faced by the time it goes down again.

0:12:56 > 0:12:59But Marine Commandant, Colonel Mike Tanner, definitely does.

0:12:59 > 0:13:01We're really looking forward to working with Lindsey and Radzi today

0:13:01 > 0:13:04to see if they've got the fitness to get through the different tests,

0:13:04 > 0:13:07and also to see if they've got the mental resilience to get cold,

0:13:07 > 0:13:10wet and dirty, and just carry on doing just as our Royal Marines do.

0:13:11 > 0:13:14And it all begins on the drill square.

0:13:14 > 0:13:16So they've been in some drill, as we would like to call it,

0:13:16 > 0:13:19marching in a straight line and making sure they look immaculate.

0:13:19 > 0:13:23One of the most important things any Royal Marine can learn is teamwork.

0:13:23 > 0:13:27A unit must work together in the most difficult of conditions, so

0:13:27 > 0:13:33we're being tested on how in sync we can be with the other recruits.

0:13:33 > 0:13:36Troop! About turn!

0:13:36 > 0:13:39Quick march!

0:13:39 > 0:13:42These guys are halfway through their training

0:13:42 > 0:13:48but move effortlessly together, and we... Well, we don't.

0:13:48 > 0:13:49Stand easy.

0:13:49 > 0:13:52We've just come off the parade and do you know what?

0:13:52 > 0:13:54I really, really enjoyed that.

0:13:54 > 0:13:56You're part of a unit and those boys are the real deal.

0:13:56 > 0:13:59Yeah, but, Radz, you took to that like a duck to water.

0:13:59 > 0:14:02I actually found that harder than I thought I would.

0:14:02 > 0:14:05I don't think it's going to get any easier, Linds.

0:14:05 > 0:14:08In fact, something tells me we haven't even begun.

0:14:09 > 0:14:13Next, we're heading to the bottom field.

0:14:13 > 0:14:15We're going to take them onto the bottom field and do some assault

0:14:15 > 0:14:17course training, and that will test

0:14:17 > 0:14:19their physical and their mental robustness.

0:14:19 > 0:14:23We're taking on their legendary commando assault course.

0:14:23 > 0:14:26If you want to be a marine, you have to conquer the course.

0:14:26 > 0:14:29One of the things that not many people understand about

0:14:29 > 0:14:31commando training is that it's not about the running fast, it's not

0:14:31 > 0:14:34about the carrying heavy weights, it's not about the operation or

0:14:34 > 0:14:36conditions, we do all of that, but we don't do it for the sake of it.

0:14:36 > 0:14:39We do it to create a mental and physical robustness.

0:14:40 > 0:14:44This 300-metre circuit of walls, climbing frames

0:14:44 > 0:14:48and tunnels pushes the mind and body to the limit.

0:14:48 > 0:14:51Recruits have to complete it in under five minutes,

0:14:51 > 0:14:54carrying the weight of 13 bags of sugar in kit.

0:14:56 > 0:15:00Under the watchful eye of instructor Ben, we just need to get round it.

0:15:01 > 0:15:03Go!

0:15:05 > 0:15:08First up, jumping the two-metre plunge pool.

0:15:14 > 0:15:17Fantastic. Off to a wet start.

0:15:17 > 0:15:19Now, if we're both going to clear this next obstacle,

0:15:19 > 0:15:25- we need to work together.- Leg over. - Go on, Linds.- Cheers, Radz.

0:15:25 > 0:15:29- And here we go. Really fast.- Go!

0:15:29 > 0:15:31Good. Stay nice and low.

0:15:32 > 0:15:36After the energy-sapping crawl, it's on to the dreaded monkey bars.

0:15:39 > 0:15:41First bar.

0:15:43 > 0:15:44- Go on.- I can't. - Go on, Linds.

0:15:46 > 0:15:48You can do this, Lindsey Russell.

0:15:49 > 0:15:50Good effort, Linds.

0:15:53 > 0:15:55Yeah, I'm definitely wet now.

0:15:57 > 0:15:59- OK.- I'm behind you.- OK.

0:15:59 > 0:16:04As we get to the tunnel, every single one of my muscles is burning.

0:16:06 > 0:16:09- There's just one more obstacle left. - Come on then, Radzi!

0:16:09 > 0:16:14- Come on then, Lindsey! Away we go! - The massive 3.5-metre wall.

0:16:19 > 0:16:20Blue Peter!

0:16:20 > 0:16:22Come on, sprint finish, Linds.

0:16:25 > 0:16:27We are exhausted.

0:16:29 > 0:16:31Guys, honestly, you put in a really good effort there,

0:16:31 > 0:16:33working well as a team, that was good to see as well.

0:16:33 > 0:16:35- Did you enjoy it?- Do you know what?

0:16:35 > 0:16:37I actually really liked it, it's like a massive playground,

0:16:37 > 0:16:39but it's really, really challenging.

0:16:39 > 0:16:42I found that really hard, because I'm not the strongest

0:16:42 > 0:16:44and getting over some of those walls I could not have done without

0:16:44 > 0:16:47Radzi's help, but it was good. We did enjoy it.

0:16:47 > 0:16:49- At least we're done now, right? - Not quite, I'm afraid.

0:16:49 > 0:16:52If you just take a look over that way, what you'll see,

0:16:52 > 0:16:54the estuary there. Shall we get a bit muddy?

0:16:56 > 0:16:58Coming up...

0:16:58 > 0:17:01we join the Royal Marines Commandos for one

0:17:01 > 0:17:04of their most gruelling exercises.

0:17:04 > 0:17:08It's strength-sapping, it's soul-destroying,

0:17:08 > 0:17:13testing the spirit of even the toughest of commando in the wet,

0:17:13 > 0:17:16slimy wilderness where the land meets the sea.

0:17:16 > 0:17:20We're about to face the mud run.

0:17:21 > 0:17:25Stay tuned for part two of Lindsey and Radzi's muddy, messy challenge -

0:17:25 > 0:17:27I named it. Now, I've got a nicer part of the day.

0:17:27 > 0:17:29I get to interview the boys from 5 AM. Let's get them

0:17:29 > 0:17:32a round of applause and welcome to the garden.

0:17:32 > 0:17:34- Nathan, J, good to see you. - Thank you.- Likewise.

0:17:34 > 0:17:35There's one missing. Where's Kieran?

0:17:35 > 0:17:38- Unfortunately, he has tonsillitis. - That's not good, is it?- A bit ill.

0:17:38 > 0:17:41Kieran, we miss you, mate. Get well soon, we will see you in a bit.

0:17:41 > 0:17:43So let's start off by talking about the final.

0:17:43 > 0:17:46I mean, that must have been an incredible journey for you two.

0:17:46 > 0:17:49- Yeah, it was a bit crazy.- And then once you finished the final,

0:17:49 > 0:17:51you've proved yourselves as an incredible act,

0:17:51 > 0:17:54you then get a single because you're signed to Simon Cowell's label.

0:17:54 > 0:17:57Yes, that is a good experience. I'm so happy that he believed in us.

0:17:57 > 0:17:59What's it like hearing your stuff on the radio?

0:17:59 > 0:18:02It's weird because it's something that I'm really not used to,

0:18:02 > 0:18:04like, hearing your song on the radio and then hearing presenters

0:18:04 > 0:18:07talking between it and being, like, "That's the brand-new single."

0:18:07 > 0:18:08It feels weird to say it out loud.

0:18:08 > 0:18:10Give it a couple of years when you've got your mansions

0:18:10 > 0:18:12and your fast cars, that's what it's all about.

0:18:12 > 0:18:14We've got a clip of your latest single,

0:18:14 > 0:18:16but of course you've got to earn it.

0:18:16 > 0:18:17We can't just play it, that'd be easy,

0:18:17 > 0:18:19so you've got to answer some questions. Because you're 5 AM,

0:18:19 > 0:18:21we thought it'd be quite cool to put a twist on it.

0:18:21 > 0:18:23You've got to answer your questions with five words

0:18:23 > 0:18:25and five words only. Give you a bit of a clue,

0:18:25 > 0:18:27it's harder than you think. All right?

0:18:27 > 0:18:29- He's good at this! - I'm good at that.

0:18:29 > 0:18:31You've got to count on your fingers, it helps. Ready?

0:18:31 > 0:18:33First person to put their hand up, you at the back there.

0:18:33 > 0:18:35- What's your question? - What's your favourite dance move?

0:18:35 > 0:18:39- Favourite dance move. Let's do five individual dance moves.- OK.

0:18:39 > 0:18:41- Favourite dance move is this. - One, two, three, four, five.

0:18:41 > 0:18:44That's a beautiful thing. Everyone try it. Ready, go.

0:18:44 > 0:18:48No, it's not going to happen. OK. Hands. Yes.

0:18:48 > 0:18:52Would you rather be a cow which goes meow or a cow which goes moo?

0:18:52 > 0:18:56Brilliant. Would you rather be a cow that meows or a cow that moos?

0:18:56 > 0:19:01- A cow that goes meow.- A cow that goes meow. Well played. Hands. Yes.

0:19:01 > 0:19:03Would you rather stop dancing or stop singing?

0:19:03 > 0:19:06- Would you rather stop dancing or stop singing?- Oh!- That's terrible.

0:19:06 > 0:19:09- Great question. - That's a hard question.

0:19:09 > 0:19:11Wow. I actually can't answer that.

0:19:11 > 0:19:14It's a half-an-hour show, take your time, boys.

0:19:14 > 0:19:17"I can't actually answer that," that's not far off.

0:19:17 > 0:19:19Last one. Hands up. That was definitely you. Go.

0:19:19 > 0:19:22- What was the funniest moment of your life?- Funniest moment of your life?

0:19:24 > 0:19:28In rehearsals, Jordan split trousers.

0:19:28 > 0:19:30"In rehearsals, Jordan split trousers."

0:19:30 > 0:19:32That's actually a very good five-word answer to finish on.

0:19:32 > 0:19:35A round of applause for our boys, 5 AM. Very good.

0:19:35 > 0:19:37You've earnt a decent amount of time there as well,

0:19:37 > 0:19:39so let's see your clip. In fact, do you want to introduce it?

0:19:39 > 0:19:41All you've got to do is look down the lens and say, "Here it is."

0:19:41 > 0:19:44So this is 5 After Midnight, with the exception of two,

0:19:44 > 0:19:46singing Up In Here.

0:19:46 > 0:19:51# ..Lose use your body

0:19:51 > 0:19:53# So if I see somebody

0:19:53 > 0:19:57# Tryna take my baby Then I might go crazy

0:19:57 > 0:20:02# Y'all gon' make me lose my mind Up in here, up in here

0:20:02 > 0:20:04# Y'all gon' make me...

0:20:04 > 0:20:06# Y'all gon' make me Y'all gon' make me... #

0:20:06 > 0:20:09Loving your work, boys. If you want to see more from 5 AM,

0:20:09 > 0:20:12head to the website where they teach you how to take the perfect selfie.

0:20:12 > 0:20:14Now, though, over to the perfect badge wall. That kind of works.

0:20:14 > 0:20:16- Follow me.- Let's go.

0:20:16 > 0:20:19We love it when you send us in your post and just look

0:20:19 > 0:20:24at this week's Big Badge Wall caked in your creativeness as per usual.

0:20:24 > 0:20:26Now, some of you, it appears, are psychic,

0:20:26 > 0:20:30because you've already sent us in a badge boat. Just look at this.

0:20:30 > 0:20:32Max, you are a hero amongst people

0:20:32 > 0:20:35- and you've got yourself a silver badge because of it.- That's amazing!

0:20:35 > 0:20:38In fact, even, if I rotate it this way, there's a glow stick inside

0:20:38 > 0:20:42there, so this boat lights up in the dark.

0:20:42 > 0:20:44- Max... Oh!- He's doing the happy dance.- Max, you're a genius.

0:20:44 > 0:20:48Ruby from Kent has had the same idea. Look at this boat she's made.

0:20:48 > 0:20:50You can see me, Barney and Radzi at the bottom there.

0:20:50 > 0:20:52I think we're driving it. And she's even included

0:20:52 > 0:20:54the gold badge on one sail and the orange badge.

0:20:54 > 0:20:56Ruby, you've earnt yourself a badge. Very well done.

0:20:56 > 0:20:58I actually get a bit nervous when I travel by boat,

0:20:58 > 0:21:01so I'm on the poop deck there. Boys, what have you got?

0:21:01 > 0:21:05- We've got a nice one from Edie from Manchester.- Very cool.

0:21:05 > 0:21:09You can see a nice blue boat with... Guys, wait. Wait for it.

0:21:09 > 0:21:13It's the big reveal. Look at that. That's amazing!

0:21:13 > 0:21:15- You can see the presenters inside. - That's really cool.

0:21:15 > 0:21:18Edie, you're a genius. Look, there's Iggy on top as well.

0:21:18 > 0:21:22Also, you can spot a Shelley just here on the sail,

0:21:22 > 0:21:24- but it is not the one that you're looking for.- No, it's not.

0:21:24 > 0:21:27- Found her.- Amazing! Thank you so much for all your brilliant post.

0:21:27 > 0:21:29Keep it coming to the usual address.

0:21:29 > 0:21:31Of course, your badges can make you part of this summer's

0:21:31 > 0:21:34Big Badge Boat Bonanza, but they can also... Ready?

0:21:34 > 0:21:37..let you get in to over 200 attractions across the UK...

0:21:37 > 0:21:42# ..For free. #

0:21:42 > 0:21:44- Something went a bit wrong, I'm not sure.- That was me.

0:21:44 > 0:21:47Check the website for details, though, because they can change.

0:21:47 > 0:21:48Well done, guys.

0:21:48 > 0:21:49Now, early in the show, Lindsey

0:21:49 > 0:21:52and I got to experience life as a Royal Marine Commando.

0:21:52 > 0:21:58Now it's part two and it gets really, really, really muddy.

0:21:58 > 0:22:00Really does.

0:22:00 > 0:22:02We're experiencing what it's like to train

0:22:02 > 0:22:04to be Royal Marines Commandos.

0:22:04 > 0:22:06Over the next 24 hours, you're going to live,

0:22:06 > 0:22:10- eat and breathe like a Royal Marine recruit.- In part one...

0:22:10 > 0:22:12we were put through our paces

0:22:12 > 0:22:16and took on the infamous commando assault course.

0:22:16 > 0:22:18- Good effort, Linds.- No.

0:22:18 > 0:22:19We gave it everything,

0:22:19 > 0:22:21but our day isn't done.

0:22:21 > 0:22:26For our final challenge, we're taking on the iconic mud run.

0:22:26 > 0:22:30Set in the muddy estuary next to the marines' training base,

0:22:30 > 0:22:34the mud run has become legendary as being one of the toughest

0:22:34 > 0:22:36parts of a commando's training.

0:22:36 > 0:22:40And we're going to experience what it feels like.

0:22:40 > 0:22:43Over the years, it's been a classic Blue Peter challenge,

0:22:43 > 0:22:46and for me personally, it's been something I've always

0:22:46 > 0:22:51wanted to try, having seen Simon and Matt do it when I was growing up.

0:22:51 > 0:22:57We're tired...we're wet, but it's time to meet the mud.

0:22:57 > 0:23:00Can I just say, it stinks and it's cold

0:23:00 > 0:23:03and we're already wet, so this can only go one way.

0:23:03 > 0:23:07The mud run involves recruits running from one point to

0:23:07 > 0:23:11another through the energy-sapping mud for anything up to an hour.

0:23:13 > 0:23:14As they go, they have to perform

0:23:14 > 0:23:16whatever exercise the instructors shout.

0:23:18 > 0:23:21But how, you may ask, does this actually help their training?

0:23:21 > 0:23:24One of the things that not many people understand about commando

0:23:24 > 0:23:26training is that it's not about the running fast,

0:23:26 > 0:23:27it's not about the carrying heavy weights,

0:23:27 > 0:23:30it's not about the operation or conditions, we do all of that,

0:23:30 > 0:23:31but we don't do it for the sake of it.

0:23:31 > 0:23:33We do it to create a mental and physical robustness

0:23:33 > 0:23:36so that the resilient marines can operate all around the world,

0:23:36 > 0:23:39and whatever the world throws up, whether it's cold

0:23:39 > 0:23:42or heat or endurance, they can survive and prosper and do well.

0:23:42 > 0:23:46So if these guys can keep going, following orders in this mud,

0:23:46 > 0:23:49they can do it anywhere, but can we?

0:23:49 > 0:23:51Away we go then, men! Hurry up!

0:23:53 > 0:23:55Get down!

0:23:57 > 0:24:01Trust me, nothing prepares you for the mud.

0:24:04 > 0:24:07Just crawling through it is so difficult.

0:24:07 > 0:24:10I've never done anything like this, but crawling is just the beginning.

0:24:10 > 0:24:14- Instructor Ben wants us up and running again.- On your feet!

0:24:14 > 0:24:17- Then, back down to crawling. - Get down!

0:24:17 > 0:24:23That expression...running through treacle has never been so true.

0:24:23 > 0:24:25This is... Look at that.

0:24:26 > 0:24:31- Roll over! Roll over!- As if that wasn't enough... How do I look?

0:24:31 > 0:24:35- ..we're told to turn over. - On your backs, start crawling!

0:24:35 > 0:24:37Push off with your legs, come on. Push off with your legs.

0:24:37 > 0:24:39Toughest thing I've ever done!

0:24:39 > 0:24:44- Ben is not letting us get away with anything.- Away we go, come on!

0:24:44 > 0:24:46Let's go, guys. Let's move.
