:00:13. > :00:23.Be excite did. It's -- be excited. Find out how to make one of these.

:00:24. > :00:28.It's got a secret pocket. It's not just gadgets. Jenna Coleman is going

:00:29. > :00:33.to be here and letting you know about her latest adventures. Don't

:00:34. > :01:00.be anywhere in the universe. It's all happening here.

:01:01. > :01:09.That's the last time I let you drive that thing. Who takes the Tardis to

:01:10. > :01:16.a shopping centre? Hello. Hello. Hi, welcome to our Doctor Who Special.

:01:17. > :01:24.Look at the studio. We have Cybermen and weeping angels and Darleks and

:01:25. > :01:29.we have the Tardis. Can we just wait a second. He looks real. They've all

:01:30. > :01:42.been de-activated. Relax. OK. Well, I'm happy to be here. I'm

:01:43. > :01:46.the biggest Doctor Who fan ever and you should be excited, because today

:01:47. > :01:50.we're launching a brand new competition. It's amazing. It is.

:01:51. > :01:55.The reason we're all excited today is because on Saturday 23rd November

:01:56. > :02:00.Doctor Who celebrates its 50th anniversary and right here at 9.30am

:02:01. > :02:03.live we are having a Blue Peter Doctor Who party just to get you in

:02:04. > :02:08.the mood, because we know you love Doctor Who just as much as we do. We

:02:09. > :02:13.love it. You have been sending in your aliens all week and today on

:02:14. > :02:16.the show they're going to be sketched by an incredible artist and

:02:17. > :02:20.then that picture is going to be brought to life. A real-life alien

:02:21. > :02:25.on Saturday morning. It's so cool. We asked you to send in your

:02:26. > :02:30.comments for the head and body, so follow me this way. Hundreds of you

:02:31. > :02:36.got in touch with us and today I'm thrilled to say we have Shaun

:02:37. > :02:44.Williams, who worked as a stoeRyboard artist on Doctor Who for

:02:45. > :02:49.eight years. -- storyboard artist on before who for eight years. Welcome

:02:50. > :02:55.to Shaun. You are a concept artist. It sounds complicated, but a lot of

:02:56. > :03:01.fun. What designs have you done? Lots over the many years, but one of

:03:02. > :03:05.the main things you might now is the interior Tardis concept for the

:03:06. > :03:11.first one that Matt Smith entered. Very cool. Fantastic. There is

:03:12. > :03:15.gadgets and the cameras and millions of other things. You have done all

:03:16. > :03:19.sorts and you've brought something, the storyboard. What is happening

:03:20. > :03:28.here? You can see here is shot by shot and it's one of the cybershot

:03:29. > :03:37.episodes. The director has described to me from the script so, I've

:03:38. > :03:42.sketched them out shout shot by shot -- shot by shot. You whipped that up

:03:43. > :03:47.in ten minutes? Kind of. It depends how much time you have. Ten minutes

:03:48. > :03:51.is fine for you? Yeah. You have already come up with - we have had

:03:52. > :03:56.some ideas in about the head and body, so which comments have taken

:03:57. > :04:04.your fancy? We have had lots of great comments, so I'm spoilt for

:04:05. > :04:10.choice. Good audience. Great. One of them from a viewer mentioned it

:04:11. > :04:16.should have spikes and horns. Scary? We'll have a bit of that. Another

:04:17. > :04:21.one mentioned, "I want the creature to have seven eyes pointing in

:04:22. > :04:26.different directions." They are not asking much. An extremely long

:04:27. > :04:30.tongue to catch people and eat them. While you get sketching, remember

:04:31. > :04:34.this is your time at home to get involved. Get on-line and be really

:04:35. > :04:39.descriptive when you send in what you want for the arms and legs.

:04:40. > :04:43.Whether they are long and thin or spotty, or hairy like Barney's, make

:04:44. > :04:49.sure you give loads of detail and you have ten minutes to get on the

:04:50. > :04:57.website and get involved. The red hair and everything. They said she

:04:58. > :05:05.had a face like an Oove. Blue Peter and Doctor Who are friends? Doctor

:05:06. > :05:12.Who will be celebrating its birthday and we celebrated 55, but we go well

:05:13. > :05:17.back. Watch this. Over Doctor Who's 50-year history, Blue Peter has been

:05:18. > :05:26.the home of all things Time Lord. We have been visited by nearly every

:05:27. > :05:34.Dr. The new Dr Has made a voyage. Welcome, one and five. Welcome to

:05:35. > :05:40.before Peter. It's Doctor Who. Welcome. The whole universe of weird

:05:41. > :05:47.andonederful aliens. Some scarier than others. Do you want some? Yes,

:05:48. > :05:52.please. I don't have the screwdriver, but I do have this.

:05:53. > :05:57.Take that. Nice work. See you later. Wow. We haven't just had people drop

:05:58. > :06:05.in. This is the one thing I haven't thought about. Presenters have gone

:06:06. > :06:11.and got stuck in. I'm just getting into character. In the Aliens of

:06:12. > :06:15.London episode, the Dr Took time to watch Blue Peter on TV. Look at

:06:16. > :06:24.that, your very own spaceship, ready to eat. They are perfectly harmless.

:06:25. > :06:31.Ex-presenter Peter was a companion to the Dr. We have shown you an

:06:32. > :06:36.entire galaxy of Doctor Who base makes. Do you like the Blue Peter

:06:37. > :06:43.Darlek cage? Yes. We've always been the home of the Doctor Who

:06:44. > :06:51.competition. Starting back in 1967, when we asked viewers to design a

:06:52. > :06:57.monster. Through to 2006, when billiam's character ended up in a

:06:58. > :07:03.real episode. Blue Peter viewer John Bell even won a speaking part in the

:07:04. > :07:07.series. You're not on the list, but we can still take a look. Come on.

:07:08. > :07:15.We have been proud to travel through time and space with you. Happy

:07:16. > :07:18.birthday, Doctor Who. Isn't that a lovely thing to watch? We've been

:07:19. > :07:40.friends for years. Who would have known? Yeah, he would. Who would?

:07:41. > :07:51.Whoedvaneknown. Oh, I see. He would have known. Let's move on, because

:07:52. > :07:55.Lindsey is not laughing. The jokes are getting worse. Josh, has put

:07:56. > :08:00.another notch on top of the world ace. I think he should be knighted

:08:01. > :08:04.or become the king. Look at him, in the bedroom with the before who

:08:05. > :08:10.stuff. He is fighting the Darlek with the sonic screwdriver and a

:08:11. > :08:16.biscuit. Josh, you're my hero. That is the kind of thing I would have

:08:17. > :08:20.done. Penny has made her own Doctor Who outfit. A whisk on there and

:08:21. > :08:26.little bumps. I don't know what they're made out of, but it looks

:08:27. > :08:33.brilliant. Well done. Look at the top. That is a K9 model by Isabel

:08:34. > :08:40.from Hereford. I love that. What do you call a dog with three eyes? Go

:08:41. > :08:45.on? Seemore. I like this bit of the show. It's time to announce some

:08:46. > :08:52.exciting. It's unique. It's time to launch the brand new Doctor Who

:08:53. > :08:56.competition. Doctor Who and Blue Peter have joined forces to bring

:08:57. > :09:00.you a competition like no other. You have got the chance to design a

:09:01. > :09:06.brand new sonic gadget for one of these three characters. We have

:09:07. > :09:10.Commander Strax, Jenny flienT and Madame Vastra. It's very important

:09:11. > :09:15.that you get the rules right. There are certain things you have to do.

:09:16. > :09:18.You can only have one winning design per character, so you can't design

:09:19. > :09:24.three, but just one. You have to have a really clear idea. Your sonic

:09:25. > :09:29.device will be used in the new series of Doctor Who in 2014. I am

:09:30. > :09:37.genuinely the most excited I've been about anything. I can't do it,

:09:38. > :09:42.because I'm too old. Here are the rules. You can only send one entry

:09:43. > :09:46.in per person. You can only design one sonic device for one particular

:09:47. > :09:53.character. You have to be aged between six and 15 years old. And

:09:54. > :10:02.the closing date is 2nd December at 12 noon. We would hate for you to be

:10:03. > :10:09.disqualified. All the details and terms and conditions are on the

:10:10. > :10:13.website. If you are going to design something that's to be used in the

:10:14. > :10:17.new series you'll need a bit of help. I've got a guy here who is

:10:18. > :10:25.just arriving. He's the guy in charge of all the props. It's

:10:26. > :10:30.Stephen Nicholas. Thank you very much for joining us. I met you many

:10:31. > :10:33.years. I'm still as big a fan as I was then. You've brought the props

:10:34. > :10:47.in to make it even more exciting. We'll talk through what you've

:10:48. > :11:00.brought in. Many things. The bits from the Dr'S scrapbook. This is

:11:01. > :11:09.where the Dr Uses his knowledge and genius. Yeah. He takes anything

:11:10. > :11:14.normal, a phone, anything and from the technology and that will give

:11:15. > :11:21.you the magical sense of communication between that character

:11:22. > :11:26.and the Tardis. Genius. This one is obviously one of my favourite. Talk

:11:27. > :11:31.us through that. This is a camera used in the Christmas episode. A

:11:32. > :11:36.photograph was taken out of the Tardis doors and it's referenced

:11:37. > :11:40.later on. These are very nice. There's one prop that you've brought

:11:41. > :11:43.with you which I'm very excited about, because it's the sonic

:11:44. > :11:50.screwdriver that Matt used? It is. There it is. Can I hold it? Look at

:11:51. > :11:54.it go. Stephen, amazing. You have seen Matt use it here. It feels just

:11:55. > :11:57.as I mentioned. Feel the power. We'll talk from the very start of

:11:58. > :12:01.designing this, because the whole point of this competition is to

:12:02. > :12:06.design a sonic device for a particular character, but what is it

:12:07. > :12:10.that makes it sonic? It's a magical device and it obviously gives the

:12:11. > :12:15.character further power, so it can do anything the character wants it

:12:16. > :12:19.do to. Whether it needs to take temperatures or read or open a door,

:12:20. > :12:23.anything, it will do it for the character. If you are designing it,

:12:24. > :12:28.where would you start? I think initially you need to get the ideas

:12:29. > :12:36.down on a piece of paper. Start with drawings and with some initial

:12:37. > :12:40.sketches of shapes. Noting the shapes down. Thinking of what you

:12:41. > :12:47.can put on to your device. What does it need to do? Does it need to

:12:48. > :12:53.flash? That depends on who it's for. The size and who it is for. Get the

:12:54. > :12:57.finished sketches, something you're happy with and get to the product,

:12:58. > :13:04.such as when you get into the colours of it, the texture of it. It

:13:05. > :13:09.has to look good. You take hold of that, because I'm worried. Thank you

:13:10. > :13:13.so much for coming in. The inspiration for the device there.

:13:14. > :13:28.You know what you're going to design, but who for? Here are some

:13:29. > :13:35.familiar faces to help you. Madame Vastra is a lizard, a big, old

:13:36. > :13:40.lizard and in hibernation deep under the Earth until she was woken up.

:13:41. > :13:47.That's how her and the Dr Met. You were very cross. As you were today,

:13:48. > :13:54.old friend. She lives in Victorian London. I read of your brother's

:13:55. > :13:59.death. A gadget for Madame Vastra, she likes going out at night

:14:00. > :14:07.obviously, because she hides in the dark. Thank you, I won't be needing

:14:08. > :14:17.you again tonight. It would be odd with a big lizard walking around in

:14:18. > :14:24.the daylight. Good grief. People tend to faint or scream. Something

:14:25. > :14:29.to help with a disguise would be fantastic. Commander Strax is a son

:14:30. > :14:35.tarrian, who are a clone warrior race. Due to a series of strange

:14:36. > :14:43.events is actually one of the Dr'S allies. Silence, boy. He's easily

:14:44. > :14:49.confused. Silence, girl. Sorry, lad. He lives with Madame Vastra and

:14:50. > :14:54.Jenny in the late 19th century and fight crime and solve mysteries and

:14:55. > :15:03.he has become her butler. Do not attempt to escape, or you will be

:15:04. > :15:12.obliterated. The Sontarans are nasty and brutal and short. Will you need

:15:13. > :15:18.grenades ades. Really. She might have said help. He needs a variety

:15:19. > :15:28.of medical items. Did somebody call for a nurse? Jenny is a Cockney

:15:29. > :15:36.Victorian maid. I don't know why you put up with me. She is married to

:15:37. > :15:42.Madame Vastra. They make a funny team, because Jenny is the only

:15:43. > :15:55.human and Madame Vastra has taught her all the sword fighting and judo

:15:56. > :16:00.moves. This one's on me. In the Cis son Horror she had to lock pick, so

:16:01. > :16:05.it would help to have a gadget and maybe a way of finding out where the

:16:06. > :16:11.Dr Was. It would be great if she had a device that was hidden and

:16:12. > :16:18.disguised in a sort of Victorian object that had many secret, hidden

:16:19. > :16:25.powers. You freak! See you around. You shouldn't wonder! The legend

:16:26. > :16:28.that is Matt Smith. Has that got you thinking? We'll get everything right

:16:29. > :16:32.so you've got the best chance of winning this competition. Go to the

:16:33. > :16:36.website. There are things on there you need to read and make sure you

:16:37. > :16:39.do all the things right. You have to stick to the rules. They are being

:16:40. > :16:44.very strict. There is a two-page application form to fill in on-line,

:16:45. > :16:49.or you can send two pieces of paper. One of them has the design and a

:16:50. > :16:53.separate one for all of the details. They have to be here. It's very

:16:54. > :16:56.important you don't put them on the design piece. Name, date of birth,

:16:57. > :17:02.full address with postcode, parent or guardian permission, phone number

:17:03. > :17:09.to contact you and the name of the character you are designing for.

:17:10. > :17:14.Best of luck. Let me come in. We'll announce the winner on the Christmas

:17:15. > :17:19.show on 19th December. Thank you. What is he like? It's time to find

:17:20. > :17:26.out how the design is going. How is it coming along? I think it's

:17:27. > :17:31.turning into a fabulous creature. Unbelievable. Seven eyes. Horns.

:17:32. > :17:36.They are eyes. Yeah. Maybe it's great they can flip out from the

:17:37. > :17:40.back of the head and see in any direction to spot something it wants

:17:41. > :17:47.to... You are so quick with the pen. We have had loads of suggestions for

:17:48. > :17:52.the arms. Which one? Again, loads of great suggestions, but this one

:17:53. > :17:56.stood out. They mentioned it should have muscles and scales with spikes

:17:57. > :18:03.on the side. I like it. We like that. Also, we had another one who

:18:04. > :18:11.suggested we should have forcefield activator on the wrists. These are

:18:12. > :18:15.good ideas. We are seeing them come to life. We have seen the head and

:18:16. > :18:25.body and arms. It's time for the legs. You've got five minutes to

:18:26. > :18:31.send us your ideas. Post it on the website. Now, Doctor Who is a wicked

:18:32. > :18:39.show. However, if like Barney, you find some of the episodes scary and

:18:40. > :18:44.you like to hide, Lindsey has what you need. That alien is looking

:18:45. > :18:49.amazing. If you get scared by Doctor Who and you need to hide, or you

:18:50. > :18:57.need a trusty place and a little pocket to hide the remote, then this

:18:58. > :19:06.cushion is the thing for you. Helping me out are some super fans.

:19:07. > :19:11.I have Micha and Declan and Zak and Holly. Zak, you are a big fan?

:19:12. > :19:17.Definitely. What is your favourite moment? It's hard? This are so many

:19:18. > :19:25.to choose from. I like the one where the Tardis dissolves and goes into

:19:26. > :19:31.the swirly background. When it spins round. Holly, you have got something

:19:32. > :19:40.cool in the playground? What have you got? We have a real Tardis.

:19:41. > :19:46.There's a picture there. I'm very jealous. We had lieds and swings.

:19:47. > :19:52.The things that you're going to need to make this is a cushion and cover.

:19:53. > :19:57.You'll need cardboard, some thread and a needle and then you're ready

:19:58. > :20:00.to get started. We have loads of different materials. You can make it

:20:01. > :20:04.individual. You can have a big pocket. I'm going to make mine out

:20:05. > :20:13.of felt, but remember all the details are on the website. Just sit

:20:14. > :20:18.back and enjoyous getting creative now. Step one, take out the middle

:20:19. > :20:23.bit of your cushion so you're left with the cover. Then, get the design

:20:24. > :20:28.you've made. I've got for the Tardis for the special. Put it in the

:20:29. > :20:31.middle. I have made mine from felt with fabric over. You can do

:20:32. > :20:38.whatever you want and make it your own. We have even got a T-shirt one.

:20:39. > :20:41.It's great. You can recycle things in the house. The pocket is the

:20:42. > :20:47.neck, which is pretty cool. How are you getting on? What are you making

:20:48. > :20:52.Declan? The red Darlek. So far I've done the base, but I need to add the

:20:53. > :20:56.black detail in it. You keep adding that. Remember, before you start

:20:57. > :21:00.this, do ask a parent or adult at home for permission before you go

:21:01. > :21:05.around stealing cushions. With the material that you've chosen, you

:21:06. > :21:09.need to sew and a top tip before you start, get a piece of cardboard and

:21:10. > :21:17.just put it into the middle of your cushion. It just stops you sewing

:21:18. > :21:20.right the way through. Sew around the three sides of the pocket,

:21:21. > :21:33.because if you show four you'll not have a pocket. How are you getting

:21:34. > :21:39.on Micha? I'm going to write Doctor Who on there. Nice. I'm ghost to put

:21:40. > :21:45.Doctor Who on the pockets. You are making loads of little ones? You can

:21:46. > :21:53.make it your own. You really can make it your own. Once sown up, the

:21:54. > :21:57.pocket should look something like this. It looks really simple and a

:21:58. > :22:03.great way to store little bits. Holly you are going to store hair

:22:04. > :22:12.ties? Yeah. Cool. Declan, how are you getting on? Fine, I'm just doing

:22:13. > :22:18.the main bit with the plunger thing. It's looking really good. A lot of

:22:19. > :22:25.detail. Zak, what have you spelt out? 50th anniversary. Hold it up.

:22:26. > :22:33.They are looking great. I think they're brilliant and they are a

:22:34. > :22:47.really good idea. What do you think Cyberman? I'm not sure... Oh, he's

:22:48. > :22:52.going. Goodbye. Thank you. He's gone. Phew. Shaun, how we doing? We

:22:53. > :22:57.have some arms. Big and strong and muscles as suggested with spikes on

:22:58. > :23:04.the outside. A proper alien. He's hovering in mid-air, so we need

:23:05. > :23:10.legs. Definitely. Any good suggestions? We have one saying

:23:11. > :23:21.maybe small, fat legs with giant feet, but maybe they won't work.

:23:22. > :23:25.Then another one, massive ugly fish legs. How would you do that? Does it

:23:26. > :23:30.mean it can swim very well? Or wading in water on the beach? It's a

:23:31. > :23:38.great description. I'll see what I can do. It has to be scary, so it

:23:39. > :23:46.needs to be functional. Maybe the fish legs, we can apply the scales.

:23:47. > :23:51.To go with the arms. Nice one. Stick with it. I can't wait to see it come

:23:52. > :23:57.to life. If you want to see it come to life, make sure you watch on

:23:58. > :24:04.Saturday at 9.30am. That alien will be real. I know one person who would

:24:05. > :24:11.love to fight this kind of alien. Over to Clara, Jenna. What a lovely

:24:12. > :24:22.person and she was only too happy to answer your questions. What's your

:24:23. > :24:27.name? Clara. Nice name. Clara. Hi. 50th anticipate sewed. Anniversary.

:24:28. > :24:45.Yes. What happens? I will give you sweets. You can have any sweets you

:24:46. > :24:48.like. There are two DrS, who are there. That's all you'll get. What

:24:49. > :24:54.did you want to be? The first thing, I went to the Langs and I -- the

:24:55. > :24:59.Lakes, and I told my mum I wanted to be a swan then I wanted to be the

:25:00. > :25:03.archeologist, because I liked the Egyptians, but then a dancer, but

:25:04. > :25:09.always an actress. What was your favourite episode to film? The
