6:36:47 > 6:36:49- Cos we love hearing from you.- Yes!

6:36:49 > 6:36:52You might've noticed the Scottish team at the Commonwealth Games

6:36:52 > 6:36:53have an incredible Scottish kit.

6:36:53 > 6:36:57Check this out. You can see they've got loads of colour.

6:36:57 > 6:37:00At the opening ceremony, they've gone to town on the tartan.

6:37:00 > 6:37:03Nobody can deny them of that.

6:37:03 > 6:37:05We have here, too, at Blue Peter.

6:37:05 > 6:37:07Before we show you our Blue Peter tartan,

6:37:07 > 6:37:09just time to show you how we made it.

6:37:11 > 6:37:13Today, the Blue Peter team have

6:37:13 > 6:37:16asked me to come to a mill in the Scottish Borders and create a very

6:37:16 > 6:37:20special Blue Peter tartan, which is going to be turned into a kilt.

6:37:20 > 6:37:24- Now, Radzi couldn't make it today, but...- Check me out!

6:37:26 > 6:37:28You might not know, but I'm half Scottish.

6:37:28 > 6:37:30Look! There's my cousin. Pretty cute, right?

6:37:30 > 6:37:33My family even had their own type of tartan.

6:37:33 > 6:37:35And I'm half Scottish, too.

6:37:35 > 6:37:37That, there, is my great grandad.

6:37:37 > 6:37:41Tartan is a material most closely associated with Scotland.

6:37:41 > 6:37:43It's made up of crisscross patterns

6:37:43 > 6:37:47and used to make all sorts of clothing, including shawls and ties.

6:37:47 > 6:37:49Even the royal family has their own tartan.

6:37:49 > 6:37:51Looking good, Your Royal Highness!

6:37:51 > 6:37:53So, armed with all the Blue Peter badges for inspiration,

6:37:53 > 6:37:57we're visiting one of the biggest tartan-makers

6:37:57 > 6:38:00to have our very own Blue Peter tartan made.

6:38:00 > 6:38:03But first, we need to have a look around to get some ideas.

6:38:03 > 6:38:06- Big or small squares?- Small squares. I like loads of small ones.

6:38:06 > 6:38:09- Oooh!- Oh, hello!

6:38:15 > 6:38:19This is Lynne. She designs tartan for people all around the world

6:38:19 > 6:38:21and she's going to help us make ours.

6:38:21 > 6:38:25How do we now go about turning this into the Blue Peter tartan?

6:38:25 > 6:38:28- Do you want to stay and help me design the tartan?- OK, design team!

6:38:28 > 6:38:32Maybe you could go to production and see how the fabric's woven.

6:38:32 > 6:38:35Absolutely! I'll leave my favourite tartan there.

6:38:35 > 6:38:38- Lindsay, don't mess it up. - I've got this, Radz, I've got this.

6:38:38 > 6:38:42First, I want to know how they make the tartan so colourful.

6:38:42 > 6:38:45For that, I need to meet a man called Ron.

6:38:45 > 6:38:47We're in the dyeing room. What happens here?

6:38:47 > 6:38:50I'll show you. This is a white yarn which, after two hours,

6:38:50 > 6:38:53will be coloured and should be royal blue.

6:38:53 > 6:38:54So, yarn starts out like that?

6:38:54 > 6:38:56Yes, this is the natural colour of the yarn.

6:38:58 > 6:39:00You fill the machine up and it will boil

6:39:00 > 6:39:02for between half an hour and one hour.

6:39:02 > 6:39:04- I've got one here that I dyed earlier.- Brilliant!

6:39:04 > 6:39:07- I'll just show you this one. - Oooh...

6:39:07 > 6:39:09- There we go!- Wow!

6:39:09 > 6:39:11That what it's like when it's been dyed.

6:39:11 > 6:39:13It's even coloured the plastic!

6:39:13 > 6:39:16Unfortunately not, it was blue plastic before we spun it!

6:39:16 > 6:39:17HE LAUGHS

6:39:17 > 6:39:21But the yarn on these cones is still wet. So, after a quick spin,

6:39:21 > 6:39:23they are dried out in one of the largest ovens I've ever seen.

6:39:25 > 6:39:26That is hot!

6:39:26 > 6:39:29So, after about eight hours, we get the yarn out.

6:39:29 > 6:39:32Then what would we do with that yarn?

6:39:32 > 6:39:35Next, it goes straight to weaving. That is where we make the cloth.

6:39:35 > 6:39:38- Right! I'd better go and see that. Thank you.- Nice seeing you.

6:39:38 > 6:39:41While I go to check out some weaving,

6:39:41 > 6:39:44Lindsay and Lynne are busy working on the design.

6:39:44 > 6:39:46These are the tartans we've picked.

6:39:46 > 6:39:49They are quite different, quite green and blue.

6:39:49 > 6:39:50And then we have the badges, too.

6:39:50 > 6:39:53Purples, oranges, the all-important gold badge, of course.

6:39:53 > 6:39:55Lots of blues and greens.

6:39:55 > 6:39:58We'll pick out the green you'd like to use,

6:39:58 > 6:40:01- and pick a gold. Which gold, do you think?- That?

6:40:01 > 6:40:04- Then, the purple. - Let's keep it dark purple.

6:40:04 > 6:40:06Oh, yes! I like that!

6:40:06 > 6:40:09Maybe you should go and get measured up for your kilt?

6:40:09 > 6:40:12Good point! Thank you for your help! Good luck.

6:40:12 > 6:40:15Meanwhile, Radzi is somewhere a whole lot noisier.

6:40:15 > 6:40:17MACHINES CLATTER

6:40:17 > 6:40:20- James, there is a lot of material in this place.- Yes.

6:40:20 > 6:40:22How much do you produce?

6:40:22 > 6:40:27Over the course of the year, enough to stretch from Scotland to France.

6:40:27 > 6:40:28RADZI LAUGHS

6:40:28 > 6:40:30What actually is happening?

6:40:32 > 6:40:36You have your horizontal threads getting intertwined

6:40:36 > 6:40:38with your vertical threads in a weaving motion.

6:40:38 > 6:40:40Everything is intertwined together.

6:40:40 > 6:40:44- I'm glad you're the man in charge, and not me!- Thanks very much!

6:40:48 > 6:40:50- Good!- Where have you been?

6:40:50 > 6:40:52There is so much to see.

6:40:52 > 6:40:54I've just been getting measured.

6:40:54 > 6:40:56- I think it's time you did, as well. - OK...

6:40:56 > 6:40:59Ah-ha-ha!

6:40:59 > 6:41:00Not while you're here.

6:41:00 > 6:41:05But while I do get measured up, here's three top tartan facts.

6:41:05 > 6:41:08The earliest tartan was found on mummies in China,

6:41:08 > 6:41:10dating back over 3,000 years.

6:41:10 > 6:41:13It's now popular all over the world.

6:41:13 > 6:41:15Many people adopted their own tartan,

6:41:15 > 6:41:19including the Canadian Mounted Police and even New York City.

6:41:19 > 6:41:22In fact, tartan is so popular in America that every 6th April,

6:41:22 > 6:41:25they celebrate National Tartan Day.

6:41:25 > 6:41:28Well, the design for the Blue Peter tartan is looking great.

6:41:28 > 6:41:30I can't wait to see what it's going to look like

6:41:30 > 6:41:31when it's made into a kilt.

6:41:31 > 6:41:34- You are looking very smart. - I don't like to boast.

6:41:34 > 6:41:37- You're not looking too bad yourself. - Thank you, let's go. Come on.

6:41:40 > 6:41:42I think we look the part, don't we?

6:41:42 > 6:41:44I'm loving this tartan.

6:41:45 > 6:41:47I wish I was half Scottish, I feel left out.

6:41:47 > 6:41:49- I've just got green khakis.- Stop it!

6:41:49 > 6:41:51Now, we look the part.

6:41:51 > 6:41:54But we want to know more about what is going on

6:41:54 > 6:41:56at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. To help us do that,

6:41:56 > 6:41:59we have an exclusive link up with an old face you might recognise.

6:41:59 > 6:42:03She's there for BBC Sport, it's Helen Skelton! Hey, Helen!

6:42:03 > 6:42:05Hello! Less of the old face!

6:42:05 > 6:42:08So good to see your old, wrinkly face! Hello!

6:42:08 > 6:42:12Let's talk about what you've been doing while you're there.

6:42:12 > 6:42:15I'm very proud, I've always been on at you to take photos

6:42:15 > 6:42:18and you have been doing. You took a photo of you and the Queen?

6:42:18 > 6:42:21This is correct. I was at the swimming heats.

6:42:21 > 6:42:23Rebecca Adlington was looking over my shoulder.

6:42:23 > 6:42:26It was the Queen. She wandered in and sat a couple of rows behind us.

6:42:26 > 6:42:28She was looking splendid

6:42:28 > 6:42:30- in lime green and navy.- Amazing!

6:42:30 > 6:42:32That was this morning. What about now? Where are you?

6:42:32 > 6:42:37I'm on top of a wooden, sauna, chalet-type building,

6:42:37 > 6:42:41that translates on-screen as a stunning studio.

6:42:41 > 6:42:43Behind me, you can see the Clyde.

6:42:43 > 6:42:45You might recognise that from the opening ceremony,

6:42:45 > 6:42:48there were loads of fireworks on there at the opening ceremony.

6:42:48 > 6:42:51There were dancers and Scotty dogs. It was brilliant.

6:42:51 > 6:42:54You can see two space-age buildings behind me,

6:42:54 > 6:42:55the Armadillo and the Hydro.

6:42:55 > 6:42:57That where the boxing, the gymnastics and the weightlifting

6:42:57 > 6:43:00is going to take place. A very busy place.

6:43:00 > 6:43:01But, come this way.

6:43:01 > 6:43:07We've been given special permission to come inside the BBC studios.

6:43:07 > 6:43:10You will see all these people here working very hard.

6:43:10 > 6:43:12They have to wait for hours a day.

6:43:12 > 6:43:16We are covering the sport on BBC from dawn to dusk.

6:43:16 > 6:43:20Hazel, for instance, is sitting here, working away on her notes.

6:43:20 > 6:43:23- Hazel, how many hours are you in the chair today?- Not too bad,

6:43:23 > 6:43:26- four hours on the telly today. - Lots of snacks there?

6:43:26 > 6:43:28Yes, lots! Bananas, healthy, healthy!

6:43:28 > 6:43:30And the sweets, we've seen them!

6:43:30 > 6:43:33What are you looking forward to over the next week??

6:43:33 > 6:43:35Tonight is the big one,

6:43:35 > 6:43:38everyone in the host nation of Scotland would like Michael Jamieson

6:43:38 > 6:43:41to do well in the 200m Breaststroke.

6:43:41 > 6:43:44We've had lots of famous people like David Wilkie of Scotland

6:43:44 > 6:43:46and Adrian Moorhouse of England won this title.

6:43:46 > 6:43:47That's a big moment tonight.

6:43:47 > 6:43:50It is a big moment. There could be a scrap on. Thank you, Hazel.

6:43:50 > 6:43:53I nearly fell off your stage, there!

6:43:53 > 6:43:56It wasn't even Michael that qualified fastest in that heat.

6:43:56 > 6:43:59It was Ross Murdoch, he was a surprise contender.

6:43:59 > 6:44:01The place was going absolutely crackers.

6:44:01 > 6:44:03Ross was a bit surprised that he did it.

6:44:03 > 6:44:06What actually happens tonight? Who knows?

6:44:06 > 6:44:08All eyes will be on that one.

6:44:08 > 6:44:12I couldn't be more excited for the next week and a half.

6:44:12 > 6:44:15Who are your top tips for home nation gold-medallists?

6:44:15 > 6:44:17There are plenty of people to watch.

6:44:17 > 6:44:20Jazz Carlin in the pool should be interesting.

6:44:20 > 6:44:21Fran Halsall in the pool.

6:44:21 > 6:44:24Siobhan-Marie O'Connor will be brilliant.

6:44:24 > 6:44:27Dai Greene from Wales, he could do well on the athletics track.

6:44:27 > 6:44:29Bad news about Mo Farah today. But, you know what?

6:44:29 > 6:44:32I think that might give a few of the others a little bit of a push.

6:44:32 > 6:44:35They might think, "This limelight is here for the taking."

6:44:35 > 6:44:36Natasha Jonas in the boxing.

6:44:36 > 6:44:39Plenty of people to watch. Plenty of people could do well.

6:44:39 > 6:44:42I think the home nations are going to have a brilliant games.

6:44:42 > 6:44:43Well, Helen, as always,

6:44:43 > 6:44:48always a pleasure to see your young and beautiful face! See you soon.

6:44:48 > 6:44:50Bye! See you soon.

6:44:50 > 6:44:51If you would like to get in touch

6:44:51 > 6:44:54and find out more about the Commonwealth Games,

6:44:54 > 6:44:56head to the website.

6:44:56 > 6:44:59And while you're there, you'll find a cracking song from Brett Domino.

6:44:59 > 6:45:02# Commonwealth Games

6:45:02 > 6:45:04# The Commonwealth Games

6:45:05 > 6:45:10# This is a song that's all about the Commonwealth Games

6:45:10 > 6:45:13# The Commonwealth Games is a regular thing

6:45:13 > 6:45:16# It dates back to a time when George V was King

6:45:16 > 6:45:19# Although the first official event was held in 1930

6:45:19 > 6:45:24# But let's stop that there before I get too nerdy

6:45:32 > 6:45:34# So, what is the Commonwealth? I've got an idea but I'm not confident

6:45:34 > 6:45:37# It's a family of nations across all the different continents

6:45:37 > 6:45:40# Once upon a time these were all part of the British Empire

6:45:40 > 6:45:44# But we'll have to cover that in a different song, it'll take too long

6:45:44 > 6:45:46# Lots of people moved to Britain from Africa and Asia

6:45:46 > 6:45:49# Others went to places like New Zealand and Australia

6:45:49 > 6:45:51# Although the different nations have their own independence

6:45:51 > 6:45:54# They have regular meetings at which they're all in attendance

6:45:54 > 6:45:56# What's the games bit? Can you be more specific?

6:45:56 > 6:45:59# You know what games are! Do you not remember the Olympics?

6:45:59 > 6:46:02# So, it's like the Olympics but just with Commonwealth countries

6:46:02 > 6:46:05# It's like the Olympics but just not as...big. #

6:46:05 > 6:46:07CHEERING AND APPLAUSE

6:46:07 > 6:46:12Forget about it not being as big as the Olympics, size isn't everything.

6:46:12 > 6:46:14As Lindsay Russell knows!

6:46:14 > 6:46:16Small package, delivers the good every time.

6:46:16 > 6:46:18I can't wait for the games, that got me in the mood.

6:46:18 > 6:46:21Look at the big badge wall, it's covered in your post.

6:46:21 > 6:46:24Maybe you can spot something? I spotted this, it's incredible.

6:46:24 > 6:46:28It's from Carys in Cheshire. Do you know what this is?

6:46:28 > 6:46:32- This is a medal for winning the rowing race.- Is it L for loser?

6:46:32 > 6:46:34No, I'm a winner!

6:46:34 > 6:46:36I think it's amazing, it's really sparkly. Thank you very much.

6:46:36 > 6:46:40Alice sent in this. It's got a little Iggy house.

6:46:40 > 6:46:43She knows we're talking about her.

6:46:43 > 6:46:46Under there, if I lift this up, we've got Iggy!

6:46:46 > 6:46:48Look at her massive eyes!

6:46:48 > 6:46:51Oh, look! Spitting image! Thank you so much.

6:46:51 > 6:46:56This might be the best thing I've seen in my life, ever.

6:46:56 > 6:46:59On last week's show, I was pretending to talk to the animals.

6:46:59 > 6:47:02I said to the meerkats, "I would like a cappuccino?"

6:47:02 > 6:47:04Hattie has drawn it for us. IGGY BARKS

6:47:04 > 6:47:07I know, Iggy, it's amazing. There's me saying, "Where is my latte?"

6:47:07 > 6:47:11There are the meerkats ignoring me and one of them squeaks.

6:47:11 > 6:47:14Absolute genius! It's so good when you interpret the show in your work.

6:47:14 > 6:47:16Maeve from Hampshire has sent this in.

6:47:16 > 6:47:19This is Iggy in her little house.

6:47:19 > 6:47:23We're calling it a pooch in a pouch. Look, she comes out and everything!

6:47:23 > 6:47:25- Oh, yes! - We love it when you get creative.

6:47:25 > 6:47:30Feast your eyes on this picture from Caitlin from Glasgow.

6:47:30 > 6:47:31It has a castle, just there.

6:47:32 > 6:47:34But next to the castle is Clyde the mascot.

6:47:34 > 6:47:37Clyde means a lot to us on Blue Peter, because two years ago,

6:47:37 > 6:47:40we had a competition to design the Commonwealth Games' mascot.

6:47:40 > 6:47:42That is us announcing the winner.

6:47:42 > 6:47:45Helen Skelton and Barney Harwood, looking very happy.

6:47:45 > 6:47:47That was designed by Beth.

6:47:47 > 6:47:49Beth, your mascot is at the Commonwealth Games, well done!

6:47:49 > 6:47:52Let's talk about what I was doing earlier on. It's getting hot,

6:47:52 > 6:47:55and I want to cool down now with a refreshing and healthy treat.

6:47:55 > 6:47:58We are going to show you how to make some delicious fruit lollies

6:47:58 > 6:48:01- which you're all tucking into. Are they nice? ALL:- Yes!

6:48:01 > 6:48:03You've got all got whoppers, the cup ones.

6:48:03 > 6:48:05I'm only making the little ones.

6:48:05 > 6:48:07There are lots of ways to make these.

6:48:07 > 6:48:10If you head to the website, you can get all the details you need.

6:48:10 > 6:48:13Don't go just yet, stay here and I'll show you how to make it.

6:48:13 > 6:48:16It's dead easy. I did my puppy-dog eyes!

6:48:16 > 6:48:19Look! Lolly moulds, I think they are called, from the supermarket.

6:48:19 > 6:48:22You can get them like that, or ice cube trays for small ones.

6:48:22 > 6:48:25The guys behind me are eating the big cup lollies.

6:48:25 > 6:48:28Just use plastic cups for your moulds. Really simple.

6:48:28 > 6:48:30You can either use cocktail sticks,

6:48:30 > 6:48:32or lollipop sticks to stick in the middle

6:48:32 > 6:48:35to make your handle to hold the lolly. What do we do?

6:48:35 > 6:48:37We chuck a load of fruit in, it's that simple.

6:48:37 > 6:48:41I've got raspberries, kiwi, grapes, strawberries, blueberries,

6:48:41 > 6:48:44tinned peaches, you can use tinned fruit if you want.

6:48:46 > 6:48:48On the chopping board, I've got some watermelon.

6:48:48 > 6:48:50This plays a very different part.

6:48:50 > 6:48:52Chop it carefully if you do it yourself.

6:48:52 > 6:48:55If you want to get help, you can do.

6:48:55 > 6:48:57I have to eat some, it's so hot out here today.

6:48:57 > 6:49:01This is going to go into a blender, like this.

6:49:01 > 6:49:04This is basically the glue that holds the fruit together.

6:49:05 > 6:49:07It's the bit that freezes.

6:49:07 > 6:49:10Get this on the right way, give it a quick whizz.

6:49:11 > 6:49:15Like this. BLENDER WHIZZES

6:49:15 > 6:49:17It does take about four days,

6:49:17 > 6:49:19so here's some somebody else blended earlier.

6:49:19 > 6:49:22For this, I'll choose some blueberries.

6:49:22 > 6:49:24You don't have to use watermelon for your juice.

6:49:24 > 6:49:26You can use anything you like.

6:49:26 > 6:49:28I'll go for some small stuff

6:49:28 > 6:49:31because I want to put some juice down the side. Stay...

6:49:32 > 6:49:35Watermelon goes in like that.

6:49:35 > 6:49:37That's what makes your lolly.

6:49:37 > 6:49:39That is my favourite bit about the whole thing.

6:49:39 > 6:49:43Find the middle, stick in your lollipop stick like that,

6:49:43 > 6:49:45and all you do is chuck that into the freezer

6:49:45 > 6:49:48and about six to eight hours later

6:49:48 > 6:49:52they look like lollies that look like this.

6:49:52 > 6:49:53They're really, really tasty.

6:49:53 > 6:49:56Who hasn't got one? Here you go.

6:49:56 > 6:49:58Radzi, have you had a go, as well?

6:49:58 > 6:50:01- I do. Oh, you don't have one... - Take the bucket and hand them out.

6:50:01 > 6:50:04I made one of these for the Red Hot Chilli Pipers earlier.

6:50:04 > 6:50:06Oh, wow.

6:50:06 > 6:50:08You've got to try it, Barney.

6:50:08 > 6:50:10I made it differently. You said, "Use a different flavour",

6:50:10 > 6:50:14so I used chillies in mine and it just adds a bit of spice.

6:50:14 > 6:50:17You have no idea how hot that is!

6:50:17 > 6:50:19- I need something cold. - There you go.- Thank you.

6:50:19 > 6:50:23Not that! That's the worst thing to put in!

6:50:23 > 6:50:25Somebody else who has been hotting up this summer,

6:50:25 > 6:50:28but in her case readying herself for the Commonwealth Games

6:50:28 > 6:50:31is Scottish athlete Libby Clegg,

6:50:31 > 6:50:33and a few weeks ago, I got to meet her.

6:50:33 > 6:50:37I am in Loughborough to meet one of Great Britain and Scotland's

6:50:37 > 6:50:39most successful recent track athletes,

6:50:39 > 6:50:42and a star to look out for in the Commonwealth Games.

6:50:42 > 6:50:44This is Libby Clegg.

6:50:47 > 6:50:50Libby is a sprinter, and she's seriously fast.

6:50:53 > 6:50:56She has won silver medals at the Paralympics

6:50:56 > 6:51:00and gold at both the European and World Championships.

6:51:01 > 6:51:05When she was ten, Libby was diagnosed with a condition affecting

6:51:05 > 6:51:08her eyesight and now, has only slight vision in her left eye,

6:51:08 > 6:51:10this means she runs with a guide.

6:51:10 > 6:51:13Mikail and Libby have been running together the two years,

6:51:13 > 6:51:16and together, they make a winning combination.

6:51:18 > 6:51:20Libby and Mikail, it's an absolute pleasure to meet you.

6:51:20 > 6:51:22I will start with yourself, Libby,

6:51:22 > 6:51:25the Commonwealth Games are a few weeks away now.

6:51:25 > 6:51:27How is your training going?

6:51:27 > 6:51:28Everything is going really well.

6:51:28 > 6:51:32We are injury-free and happy, so looking forward to it.

6:51:32 > 6:51:36And it's not just yourself, you have Mikail, your guide runner.

6:51:36 > 6:51:37How did you and Libby first meet?

6:51:37 > 6:51:40Libby was being guided by my stepfather.

6:51:40 > 6:51:45Watching them do their thing, I thought,

6:51:45 > 6:51:48this could be a great opportunity, if given the chance.

6:51:48 > 6:51:52Do you have to trust each other when you're running?

6:51:52 > 6:51:56I trust Mikail to guide me on the track. I'm running at full speed.

6:51:56 > 6:51:57He has to trust me a bit

6:51:57 > 6:52:00because we communicate all the time on the track.

6:52:00 > 6:52:02Can I try my hand at guide-running?

6:52:02 > 6:52:06- By all means, if you trust me. - I trust you!

6:52:06 > 6:52:10We have the guide rope, that way.

6:52:10 > 6:52:13This immediately feels so unnatural.

6:52:13 > 6:52:16To become a guide, you need to experience what it's like

6:52:16 > 6:52:17to run without sight.

6:52:17 > 6:52:19So, while Libby and her guide dog stand by,

6:52:19 > 6:52:21Mikail shows me the basics.

6:52:21 > 6:52:25Close your eyes and get your other arm going, as well.

6:52:25 > 6:52:29And then I was blindfolded to make sure I couldn't see.

6:52:30 > 6:52:34Before you can run, you have to be able to walk...sort of.

6:52:36 > 6:52:39Eventually, it was time to pick up the pace.

6:52:40 > 6:52:42- Ooh!- Left arm! Left arm!

6:52:42 > 6:52:44There we are.

6:52:44 > 6:52:47With Mikail's help, we soon started to make tracks.

6:52:47 > 6:52:48That is good, Radzi.

6:52:48 > 6:52:51Keep your arm... That's it.

6:52:52 > 6:52:55My right foot comes down late... So, then, that...

6:52:55 > 6:52:57Do you know what? It's everything to do with me,

6:52:57 > 6:53:01because I am trying to think "Which arm?", "Which leg?".

6:53:01 > 6:53:05But, the thing is, it is my fault because I'm the guide.

6:53:05 > 6:53:06That's the key.

6:53:06 > 6:53:09- It's both our fault cos we're in a team.- There you go.

6:53:09 > 6:53:11- There you go! I like that! - HE LAUGHS

6:53:15 > 6:53:16While I let the training sink in,

6:53:16 > 6:53:20I thought it was a good moment to ask Libby and Mikail

6:53:20 > 6:53:22some of your questions.

6:53:22 > 6:53:26OliveCrumpetPeach asks, have you got any secrets to make you run faster?

6:53:26 > 6:53:28And, if so, what are they?

6:53:28 > 6:53:31Use your arms. Pump your arms as fast as you can. So...

6:53:31 > 6:53:33- Go to bed early.- Yes!

6:53:33 > 6:53:35AgateWeavingBonobo asks,

6:53:35 > 6:53:38do you get on well, or have you ever fallen out?

6:53:38 > 6:53:41I can be quite grumpy.

6:53:41 > 6:53:44When I'm grumpy, I'm not the best person to be around.

6:53:44 > 6:53:46# Dum-dum-dum! #

6:53:46 > 6:53:51OlivePaintingWombat asks, who inspired you to be an athlete?

6:53:51 > 6:53:53My mum was my main support who encouraged me

6:53:53 > 6:53:56to go to the track and do all my training.

6:53:56 > 6:53:59She's been with me through the good and bad times.

6:53:59 > 6:54:04AquaRandomAnteater asks, what was your favourite subject at school?

6:54:04 > 6:54:06I did enjoy PE, but I actually did enjoy art,

6:54:06 > 6:54:09because we used to go there for a skive.

6:54:09 > 6:54:11ALL LAUGH

6:54:11 > 6:54:15I found it quite nice cos I was training all the time,

6:54:15 > 6:54:16so it was a good way to escape.

6:54:16 > 6:54:19LilacJellyCoin says, "Hello, Libby,

6:54:19 > 6:54:22"could you give anybody any advice for somebody

6:54:22 > 6:54:24"who wants to be an athlete but is blind?"

6:54:24 > 6:54:27The way I got into Blind Sport

6:54:27 > 6:54:30was through a charity called British Blind Sport,

6:54:30 > 6:54:32and they do lots of different activities.

6:54:32 > 6:54:35That is the best place to have a look

6:54:35 > 6:54:38and see what you'd be interested in.

6:54:38 > 6:54:41Time to end on a Blue Peter challenge.

6:54:41 > 6:54:45Libby and Mikail can run 100 metres in just 12.1 seconds,

6:54:45 > 6:54:48but how fast can we run 50?

6:54:55 > 6:54:57Over to the left.

6:55:05 > 6:55:07And start to slow you down.

6:55:07 > 6:55:09It's cool, it's cool.

6:55:09 > 6:55:12That's a record.

6:55:12 > 6:55:15It's never been timed before. Congratulations!

6:55:15 > 6:55:18Record holders! HE LAUGHS

6:55:18 > 6:55:20I hope by now you know that I love sport

6:55:20 > 6:55:25and I'm always inspired by what successful track athletes do.

6:55:25 > 6:55:29But what Libby and Mikail do is just that little bit extra special,

6:55:29 > 6:55:32and I think at this year's Commonwealth Games,

6:55:32 > 6:55:34it's going to be THEM that get gold.

6:55:34 > 6:55:36Radzi is completely right.

6:55:36 > 6:55:38They really are special athletes,

6:55:38 > 6:55:40and maybe if you were watching the opening ceremony,

6:55:40 > 6:55:44you might have seen them cos they featured in it. Check this out.

6:55:44 > 6:55:46"Our shared equality,

6:55:46 > 6:55:51"the level playing field on which we compete."

6:55:51 > 6:55:53CHEERING AND APPLAUSE

6:55:53 > 6:55:57We are very proud of them here at Blue Peter. Well done, you two!

6:55:57 > 6:56:00Now, time to chat to a very special band. You might have realised

6:56:00 > 6:56:01at the beginning of the show

6:56:01 > 6:56:03that our opening theme was a bit different because

6:56:03 > 6:56:06today we are joined by the Red Hot Chilli Pipers.

6:56:06 > 6:56:09CHEERING AND APPLAUSE

6:56:09 > 6:56:11- We are so excited to have you. - Thanks for having us.

6:56:11 > 6:56:14Well done on all your Blue Peter badges.

6:56:14 > 6:56:17Talk me through the bagpipes. Are they difficult?

6:56:17 > 6:56:21I'm led to believe they are one of the hardest instruments to learn.

6:56:21 > 6:56:23- Oh, that's good to hear!- I wish somebody told me 15 years ago,

6:56:23 > 6:56:25and I would've taken up the tambourine!

6:56:25 > 6:56:28- You've been doing this for 15 years now?- That's right.

6:56:28 > 6:56:34Now, I play the saxophone. Is that similar? Are there any similarities?

6:56:34 > 6:56:38- Only one way to find out.- I knew you would say that. Here we go.

6:56:38 > 6:56:40This goes over your left arm.

6:56:40 > 6:56:41Oh, dear!

6:56:41 > 6:56:44Blow into the mouthpiece, big breaths...

6:56:44 > 6:56:47- And squeeze at the same time. - And you finger with the tube.

6:56:47 > 6:56:49I can see why it takes 15 years to master.

6:56:49 > 6:56:52- OK.- OK, big breath.

6:56:52 > 6:56:53Three, two, one!

6:56:53 > 6:56:55WEAK WHEEZING

6:56:55 > 6:56:57Again.

6:56:57 > 6:56:59LOUDER WHEEZING, CHEERING

6:56:59 > 6:57:04- That wasn't bad, was it? Was that all right?- It was bad, yeah!

6:57:04 > 6:57:07It really was bad, actually, so I'm going to give it

6:57:07 > 6:57:10I will leave it to the masters because you are amazing.

6:57:10 > 6:57:12That's made me a bit light-headed!
