0:17:10 > 0:17:15"whose body was a mass of flame and his face a mass of scorching light.
0:17:15 > 0:17:19"Thousands of fire imps scattered as he landed

0:18:21 > 0:18:24with a spectacular firework display.
0:18:24 > 0:18:29With this adventure, like any other story you want to read,

0:18:32 > 0:18:35and let your imagination fizz!
0:18:45 > 0:18:49If the Story Lab project sounds good, head to the Blue Peter website
0:18:49 > 0:18:51or to your local library.
0:18:51 > 0:18:55We are enjoying the Edinburgh Festival. Ladies,
0:18:55 > 0:18:58what's your favourite thing?
0:18:58 > 0:19:02I really enjoyed seeing Jacqueline Wilson at the Book Festival.
0:19:02 > 0:19:06- Oh, she's a legend. We love her. - Yes. How about you, boys?
0:19:06 > 0:19:09We came up from London just today.
0:19:09 > 0:19:13We're really liking the festival and all the variety of stuff.
0:19:13 > 0:19:18- It's such an amazing atmosphere. - Who has seen Marrying Mum and Dad?
0:19:18 > 0:19:22Three out of four's not bad. I was like a teacher then.
0:19:22 > 0:19:26It's a new CBBC show with Ed Petrie and Naomi Wilkinson.
0:19:26 > 0:19:28It does what it says on the tin.
0:19:28 > 0:19:32The kids decide everything about the wedding - food, venue,
0:19:32 > 0:19:35what they wear. Sounds brilliant.
0:19:37 > 0:19:42Judging by what we've got here, do you think you'll enjoy it?
0:19:42 > 0:19:46- Helmets and a harness. - That's not for me.- It is.
0:19:46 > 0:19:49'Will Dad be able to handle it? Devil's Chimney is a sheer drop
0:19:49 > 0:19:52'and Dad is petrified of heights.'
0:19:52 > 0:19:54I'm shaking.
0:19:54 > 0:19:58- My throat's gone a bit dry. - Does that feel snug?
0:19:58 > 0:20:02- Nice and snug, yeah.- How are you feeling?- Absolutely awful.
0:20:02 > 0:20:05I can't believe I'm doing this.
0:20:07 > 0:20:11Cannot wait! Anyway, there has been so much to do here in Edinburgh
0:20:11 > 0:20:15that we went to the top of the Castle to see a very large gun.
0:20:15 > 0:20:19We're at the Castle and it is a little before one o'clock,
0:20:19 > 0:20:22almost time for a famous tradition.
0:20:22 > 0:20:26Every day at exactly 1pm, this cannon is fired.
0:20:26 > 0:20:30It goes back 151 years ago. Back then, Edinburgh was a coastal town
0:20:30 > 0:20:33and had a big shipping lane.
0:20:33 > 0:20:37But every day the guys docked there needed to know what time it was.
0:20:37 > 0:20:42So they came up with a signal. On top of Nelson's Monument was a ball.
0:20:42 > 0:20:46They thought if that dropped every day at 1, the sailors would see it.
0:20:46 > 0:20:49But they have this thing called haar or fog,
0:20:49 > 0:20:52so the sailors couldn't always see.
0:20:52 > 0:20:57A sound was needed. It was decided that the military at the Castle
0:20:57 > 0:21:02would fire a cannon every day at one o'clock. That continues today.
0:21:02 > 0:21:05I'm delighted to be joined by Bombardier Allison
0:21:05 > 0:21:10- who has the Castle Gunner's job. - That's correct, yes.
0:21:10 > 0:21:15- And you're the first woman to do this.- It's a dream come true.
0:21:15 > 0:21:20You don't fire real cannon balls or they'd be in someone's front room,
0:21:20 > 0:21:24- so what do you fire?- Today what we fire is a blank cartridge.
0:21:24 > 0:21:26And this is it here.
0:21:26 > 0:21:29This is basically a big bullet.
0:21:29 > 0:21:33- Basically a firework.- I'm getting nervous. There'll be a loud bang
0:21:33 > 0:21:38- and we should not be here! - I'm staying.- Come on. We'll retreat.
0:21:38 > 0:21:40Thank you, Allison.
0:22:04 > 0:22:09I jumped even though I knew! Allison, you could hear a pin drop!
0:22:09 > 0:22:14It was eerily silent. As soon as the gun went off, everyone got excited.
0:22:14 > 0:22:19- Does that always happen? - Every day. Except Boxing Day.
0:22:19 > 0:22:21It's quiet when I'm here myself.
0:22:21 > 0:22:25You know what's going to happen, yet I jumped.
0:22:25 > 0:22:28- So did I!- So did the gun!
0:22:28 > 0:22:31If you are out and about in Edinburgh, don't be shocked
0:22:31 > 0:22:35- when you hear a loud bang. - Thank you, Allison.
0:22:35 > 0:22:39There are so many talented people here at the Edinburgh Festival
0:22:39 > 0:22:43and lots would love the opportunity that 13-year-old Tallia Storm got.
0:22:43 > 0:22:47She performed for Elton John. Thousands of people were watching.
0:22:47 > 0:22:49Here's her story.
