6:30:35 > 6:30:38On today's show, we're going hovercraft crazy.
6:30:38 > 6:30:41Find out how Barney and I got on when we got to race hovercrafts.
6:30:41 > 6:30:44And we'll show you how to make your very own mini version
6:30:44 > 6:30:46on our live make-along.
6:30:46 > 6:30:48We'll show you how to make your very own rainbow wrap
6:30:48 > 6:30:50with celebrity chef, Jamie Oliver.
6:30:50 > 6:30:53All coming up on today's live Blue Peter. Let's go!
6:31:17 > 6:31:21Hi, hello, how are you doing? You're watching Blue Peter.
6:31:21 > 6:31:24Say hello to our Blue Peter dancers. Thanks, guys, that was beautiful.
6:31:24 > 6:31:26I'm going to have a word with the bosses.
6:31:26 > 6:31:29I think we should travel into work like that every week.
6:31:29 > 6:31:30I absolutely loved that, it was so much fun.
6:31:30 > 6:31:33If you want to make your very own mini hovercraft, keep watching.
6:31:33 > 6:31:38You'll need some items later on in the show. Robin, hold them up.
6:31:38 > 6:31:41You will need a balloon and you will need an old DVD or CD.
6:31:41 > 6:31:45- Also, Mohammed, what else?- You will need a sports cup and sticky tack.
6:31:45 > 6:31:46Beautifully done.
6:31:46 > 6:31:49So keep watching to find out how to make that later on in the show.
6:31:49 > 6:31:52I think it's fair to say that the hovercraft is a pretty unique
6:31:52 > 6:31:54way of travelling and I think it's wicked.
6:31:54 > 6:31:57If I could design my own hovercraft or even a mode of transport,
6:31:57 > 6:31:58I'd probably let my imagination run wild.
6:31:58 > 6:32:02What would you do if you could design your own type of transportation?
6:32:02 > 6:32:03What would it be and why?
6:32:03 > 6:32:05I'd go for a Blue Peter ship.
6:32:05 > 6:32:06In the air, it would be like a rocket
6:32:06 > 6:32:08and under water it would be like a submarine.
6:32:08 > 6:32:10- A three in one.- I love that.
6:32:10 > 6:32:13I'd go for something with the green badge that is good for the environment.
6:32:13 > 6:32:16- Maybe like a windsurfing thing on wheels.- I like it.
6:32:16 > 6:32:19What would you do? That's not where your mouth is!
6:32:19 > 6:32:23I would choose a James Bond car that can go in the water,
6:32:23 > 6:32:25a multi-terrain car.
6:32:27 > 6:32:29A wicked idea, thank you very much.
6:32:29 > 6:32:31What would you do? Get in touch and let us know.
6:32:31 > 6:32:33- What about Lucia? - Oh, is she doing it as well?
6:32:33 > 6:32:36- She has a great idea. - I do apologise. This is your moment!
6:32:36 > 6:32:38What would you do?
6:32:38 > 6:32:42I would make a pedal bike that could fly and go under water.
6:32:42 > 6:32:45I am so glad I came to speak to you, it's such a good suggestion.
6:32:45 > 6:32:48Now, stand back! Send in your comments.
6:32:49 > 6:32:51Let us know what you would create.
6:32:51 > 6:32:53Be really inventive and at the end of the show,
6:32:53 > 6:32:56we will read as many of your comments as we can.
6:32:56 > 6:32:58A couple of weeks ago, we found out we were going to be
6:32:58 > 6:33:01racing each other, Radzi and I, in a Blue Peter challenge.
6:33:01 > 6:33:04I actually brought my trainers along when I met Barney.
6:33:04 > 6:33:06This is Blue Peter, I probably should have known better.
6:33:06 > 6:33:09This is a race with a difference.
6:33:10 > 6:33:12Here on Blue Peter, we are one big, happy family.
6:33:12 > 6:33:15But it's always good to throw in a bit of healthy
6:33:15 > 6:33:16competition from time to time.
6:33:16 > 6:33:19Exactly, which is why we're going to go head-to-head
6:33:19 > 6:33:23against each other in the National Hovercraft Championships.
6:33:23 > 6:33:25Welcome to the world of hovercraft racing.
6:33:25 > 6:33:30180 horsepower, 90 miles an hour, and no brakes.
6:33:30 > 6:33:33Hovercraft racing is not for the faint hearted.
6:33:33 > 6:33:34You said no brakes?
6:33:36 > 6:33:37Yeah, no brakes.
6:33:40 > 6:33:42Barney, no brakes?
6:33:42 > 6:33:45Hovercrafts aren't just difficult to stop but also to drive.
6:33:45 > 6:33:48The big powerful fan blows air underneath the craft
6:33:48 > 6:33:52to lift it off the ground so helping us to stay in control is this man,
6:33:52 > 6:33:54F2 racer, Marc Bradley-Upton.
6:33:54 > 6:33:56Hi, Mark, nice to meet you.
6:33:56 > 6:34:00- Good morning, guys. - I am very excited, how about you?
6:34:00 > 6:34:04- These look incredible. - Where do we even start to learn?
6:34:04 > 6:34:07The first thing I want to show you is what can go wrong,
6:34:07 > 6:34:09if you drop the throttle on a corner.
6:34:11 > 6:34:14You can go up to that under 10 miles an hour.
6:34:14 > 6:34:18At that point, you will get thrown out of the hovercraft.
6:34:18 > 6:34:21What I'm going to show you is how not to do that.
6:34:21 > 6:34:24Lesson one, we could fall out of it. OK, good.
6:34:24 > 6:34:27Lesson two, I'll show you how to steer it.
6:34:27 > 6:34:32Just jump into the centre. The most important thing.
6:34:32 > 6:34:34You have a kill switch that goes around your throttle wrist,
6:34:34 > 6:34:37underneath the handlebars and onto this button here.
6:34:37 > 6:34:39That is your fail safe.
6:34:39 > 6:34:40If you want to stop at any time,
6:34:40 > 6:34:44- pull that button off, that will kill the engine.- That's our panic button?
6:34:44 > 6:34:47Yes. Never sit down in a hovercraft.
6:34:47 > 6:34:50You need to move your body weight around.
6:34:50 > 6:34:52Your handlebars which push those little bits at the back.
6:34:52 > 6:34:56Nice and easy with those because you have nothing touching the floor.
6:34:56 > 6:34:57Steering then.
6:34:57 > 6:35:00If you want to turn left, handlebars back toward your tummy,
6:35:00 > 6:35:04weight to your left and when you're in the corner, you accelerate.
6:35:05 > 6:35:07Don't accelerate before you get to the corner.
6:35:07 > 6:35:12In the ridiculous scenario that I happen to forget what I am doing...
6:35:12 > 6:35:15- In the very likely scenario! - What happens to me?
6:35:15 > 6:35:19- You'll probably end up on the grass. - That will make great telly though!
6:35:19 > 6:35:22Everybody wants to see that, they're all saying they want to see that.
6:35:22 > 6:35:26- My job is to make sure that you don't come out.- Shall we get in?
6:35:26 > 6:35:27Let's get in.
6:35:32 > 6:35:34It was time to put our training to the test
6:35:34 > 6:35:38and I was starting to get the hang of it. Unlike someone else.
6:35:39 > 6:35:42Slow and steady wins the race, Barney.
6:35:42 > 6:35:45Yes, you're meant to go in between the flags, Radz, not over them!
6:35:48 > 6:35:50Yeah, yeah, I'm just warming up!
6:35:54 > 6:36:00We've kind of mastered land so now, let's try water. I love it!
6:36:01 > 6:36:05As you can see, Radzi...
6:36:05 > 6:36:08- he loves it too.- Go, go, go!
6:36:11 > 6:36:13That's it, practice over.
6:36:13 > 6:36:15Now we have to race these things and the only way we can
6:36:15 > 6:36:17is by doing a driving test.
6:36:17 > 6:36:20But not only that, we have to pass that test in order to race.
6:36:20 > 6:36:22- Who's going to go first? BOTH:- You're going first!
6:36:22 > 6:36:24- BOTH:- I'm not going first.
6:36:24 > 6:36:27This could take a while.
6:36:27 > 6:36:31We didn't have a while, it was time to meet Lee Willers, our examiner.
6:36:31 > 6:36:32Let the tests begin!
6:36:32 > 6:36:34Nervous about this test?
6:36:34 > 6:36:38- Yes.- I'm very nervous about the test. - Can I ask a couple of questions?
6:36:38 > 6:36:41First of all, how would you stop the engine?
6:36:42 > 6:36:45- You can pull the choke. - Or you can put out the leads
6:36:45 > 6:36:48which would take the spark out of the plugs.
6:36:48 > 6:36:51Flags. A red flag, what does that mean?
6:36:51 > 6:36:53A red flag, stop when safe to do so.
6:36:53 > 6:36:55A waved yellow flag?
6:36:55 > 6:36:57A waved yellow flag means there is a craft in front of you
6:36:57 > 6:37:01who has some kind of failure and it's in your path.
6:37:01 > 6:37:04I need to be aware that I'll possibly have to deviate out of my line.
6:37:04 > 6:37:08The exact word is, proceed with caution. Be prepared to stop.
6:37:10 > 6:37:13- So, you will prepare to start the engine.- I genuinely feel nervous.
6:37:13 > 6:37:17- Lose the nerves.- Now, for the practical part of our driving tests.
6:37:17 > 6:37:21Time to start our engines. Yes, whenever you're ready, Radzi.
6:37:21 > 6:37:24- Like this! - Yeah, yeah, I've got this.
6:37:26 > 6:37:28The course involves us going in and out of flags...
6:37:30 > 6:37:36..a 360 degree turn, successfully driving on and off the water.
6:37:36 > 6:37:38Then ending exactly where we started.
6:37:41 > 6:37:46- Have we passed?- Your entry to the water was a little bit too quick.
6:37:46 > 6:37:51Oh, dear! You just stayed in that lean a little bit too long. OK?
6:37:51 > 6:37:56- This isn't looking good. - No problem, you passed!- Yes! Get in!
6:37:56 > 6:37:59Thanks very much, that's brilliant news.
6:37:59 > 6:38:02- I've passed?- Yes.- Yes! Get in!
6:38:04 > 6:38:07- Did you pass?- Yes, I passed, did you pass?- Yes, I did. Nice!
6:38:07 > 6:38:09I cannot wait.
6:38:09 > 6:38:11What a great day it's been, we have learnt so much,
6:38:11 > 6:38:13we've passed our driving test, bring on the race!
6:38:13 > 6:38:18- You're going down, Barney! - I will if the engine fails!
6:38:18 > 6:38:20It goes up and down. No?
6:38:20 > 6:38:23I thought that was air-some! No? I'm a big fan.
6:38:23 > 6:38:25I'll stop.
6:38:25 > 6:38:27That guy with the hairy face is funny.
6:38:27 > 6:38:31Do you know how much fun that was? It was unreal.
6:38:31 > 6:38:35Hovercraft test in the bag, game face is on now because later on
6:38:35 > 6:38:38we'll go head-to-head in the actual hovercraft race, so stay watching.
6:38:38 > 6:38:43Before you see that, you'll know tomorrow is Food Revolution Day.
6:38:43 > 6:38:45Lots of schools are getting involved and I'm a bit nosy
6:38:45 > 6:38:47so I went to London to meet a very special man.
6:38:47 > 6:38:49- Oh!- No, not you!
6:38:51 > 6:38:54Summer is here. Well, kind of.
6:38:54 > 6:38:56The flowers are in full bloom, the birds are singing
6:38:56 > 6:38:59and there's a smell of food revolution in the air.
6:38:59 > 6:39:00It smells good.
6:39:00 > 6:39:03I think I might follow my nose and find out a bit more about it
6:39:03 > 6:39:06with none other than world-famous chef, Jamie Oliver.
6:39:06 > 6:39:09Let's talk about May 16th, Food Revolution is nearly here.
6:39:09 > 6:39:11We're celebrating food.
6:39:11 > 6:39:14And the importance of food and getting kids engaged with food.
6:39:14 > 6:39:16Basically, getting kids cooking.
6:39:16 > 6:39:20Touching, feeling, bashing, chopping, tasting, smelling, trying new things.
6:39:20 > 6:39:23This year is really exciting because we're going for a world record,
6:39:23 > 6:39:28a million kids doing the same cooking class in 24 hours.
6:39:28 > 6:39:31The green Blue Peter badge is given for doing things for the environment
6:39:31 > 6:39:33or for getting involved at home, growing your own fruit and veg.
6:39:33 > 6:39:36Is it an easy thing to do, can you grow your own veg at home?
6:39:36 > 6:39:40When you grow your own veg, you can grow in a little window box
6:39:40 > 6:39:42at the top of a block of flats.
6:39:42 > 6:39:44You don't have to have a big garden or anything like that.
6:39:44 > 6:39:47You could do it at school obviously, and a lot of schools are doing it.
6:39:47 > 6:39:50That is a regular beetroot, you might think, ew!
6:39:50 > 6:39:53Look over here, look how exciting they get.
6:39:53 > 6:39:55These are different varieties
6:39:55 > 6:39:59and my kids all grew these for the last five years and they love it.
6:39:59 > 6:40:03We shred them into salads, really cool. Food can be exciting.
6:40:03 > 6:40:05So, Barney, it's really simple.
6:40:05 > 6:40:07We're going to make wraps for six people.
6:40:07 > 6:40:12We need six wraps, we need two beetroots, two carrots, a pear,
6:40:12 > 6:40:14150 grams of cabbage.
6:40:14 > 6:40:18It's time to get grating but mind your fingers!
6:40:18 > 6:40:21I'm using a pear here, I'll just grate that.
6:40:21 > 6:40:24And the stalks and the seeds, it all goes in.
6:40:24 > 6:40:27It's a bit like a sand castle because if I pull it up, look what we've got.
6:40:27 > 6:40:30We're just going to push that into the bowl.
6:40:30 > 6:40:33Wow, look at all that colour. It looks amazing.
6:40:33 > 6:40:34That goes in as well.
6:40:34 > 6:40:38We washed our hands before we started this, by the way.
6:40:38 > 6:40:39I've got some mint here.
6:40:39 > 6:40:43You grab that and roll it up in your hands and just tear it.
6:40:43 > 6:40:47Actually, it being bruised like this, brings out lots of flavour.
6:40:47 > 6:40:51Do you know what I like about this? There's no chopping, no knives.
6:40:51 > 6:40:53Rip it all up, stick it in a bowl and you can eat it. It's dead easy.
6:40:53 > 6:40:55Absolutely.
6:40:55 > 6:40:58It's super, super healthy and by the time I dress it up,
6:40:58 > 6:40:59which is our next job,
6:40:59 > 6:41:02we're going to make a jam jar dressing.
6:41:02 > 6:41:06To your jam jar you're going to add five tablespoons of natural yoghurt,
6:41:06 > 6:41:08half a teaspoon of English mustard,
6:41:08 > 6:41:12three teaspoons of vinegar, we're using cider vinegar
6:41:12 > 6:41:16but any will do, and two tablespoons extra virgin olive oil.
6:41:16 > 6:41:19I'm going to do this up, use a jam jar, use an airtight jar.
6:41:19 > 6:41:20Now you've got to shake it.
6:41:20 > 6:41:22You can buy these anywhere, I take it, these jam jars?
6:41:22 > 6:41:23Yeah, or recycle.
6:41:23 > 6:41:25So any jam jar you use, keep them,
6:41:25 > 6:41:27they are perfect for making dressings.
6:41:27 > 6:41:30Once you've made that, that will keep in the fridge for a week.
6:41:30 > 6:41:32- Pour it all in.- Yeah.
6:41:32 > 6:41:34From a height, come on.
6:41:34 > 6:41:36It's run out now! Now have a toss-up.
6:41:36 > 6:41:41- It smells amazing.- Now, that's enough. So here is our plate.
6:41:41 > 6:41:43We have a wrap, that goes in there.
6:41:43 > 6:41:45We are then going to go over, we'll divide this into six.
6:41:45 > 6:41:48We're going to put it into our wrap like this.
6:41:48 > 6:41:50So we've got our rainbow wrap going on there.
6:41:50 > 6:41:53But, no, we're not going to stop at that! Do you like cheese?
6:41:53 > 6:41:55- Yeah, I like cheese. - Crumble the feta cheese
6:41:55 > 6:41:58and just crumple it into little bits like snow from a height.
6:41:58 > 6:42:01- It's all about the drama as well. - No, it's about even distribution,
6:42:01 > 6:42:03but if you want to show off and call it drama then you can.
6:42:03 > 6:42:05- I'm pretending it's Christmas here. - Typical!
6:42:05 > 6:42:08And then finally, to fold your delicious wrap,
6:42:08 > 6:42:11fold up the bottom first to stop your filling from falling out.
6:42:11 > 6:42:15And then fold over one side and roll. And there you have it.
6:42:15 > 6:42:19- Am I doing it?- Put it in there and let your face tell the story
6:42:19 > 6:42:21of the rainbow wrap.
6:42:24 > 6:42:25That is well nice!
6:42:25 > 6:42:28Which leaves us with one thing to say, really.
6:42:28 > 6:42:30- And that's a wrap.- It is a wrap.
6:42:30 > 6:42:31Did you write that line?
6:42:31 > 6:42:33Yeah, I'm going to go now.
6:42:35 > 6:42:38Thank you so much to Jamie for inviting us down and letting
6:42:38 > 6:42:40- us share that amazing recipe. - HE COUGHS
6:42:40 > 6:42:41Gesundheit. It really is amazing.
6:42:41 > 6:42:44If you want to have a go at making your own rainbow wrap...
6:42:44 > 6:42:45MAKES POPPING NOISES
6:42:45 > 6:42:47Beautiful, it's like an echo in here!
6:42:47 > 6:42:50..head over to the Blue Peter website where you can send us pics.
6:42:50 > 6:42:52You can have a go and show us what you've made, and send it to us
6:42:52 > 6:42:54because we're all very hungry people.
6:42:54 > 6:42:57I actually saved the rainbow wrap, the one that Jamie made.
6:42:57 > 6:43:01How often does that happen? A top celebrity chef actually served me.
6:43:01 > 6:43:02All right, guys, what are you up to?
6:43:02 > 6:43:05- Oh.- Erm.- Put it away. We just...
6:43:05 > 6:43:08Erm... We've changed into our green badges, the green badge wall.
6:43:08 > 6:43:10- Are you eating something?- Sorry?
6:43:10 > 6:43:13No, we're just looking at the green badge wall.
6:43:13 > 6:43:15There is absolutely loads of post from you this week,
6:43:15 > 6:43:17thank you so much.
6:43:17 > 6:43:19Less about food and more about Isabella from south Wales,
6:43:19 > 6:43:22who's made this incredible collage with all different materials.
6:43:22 > 6:43:26And even on the back it tells us how to look after our gardens.
6:43:26 > 6:43:30- Well done, Isabella.- This is from Abbey, she's from London.
6:43:30 > 6:43:33She has made this amazing Blue Peter bag for life that even says
6:43:33 > 6:43:37"Keep Our Earth Green." We love that, thank you so much, Abbey.
6:43:37 > 6:43:39I like it. Check out Fabia's, look at this.
6:43:39 > 6:43:42Talk about being creative, she has made her own garden which
6:43:42 > 6:43:45sends out the message you should not throw litter.
6:43:45 > 6:43:47Look at the amount of work that has gone into this.
6:43:47 > 6:43:48We've got a path, we've got a robin,
6:43:48 > 6:43:51we got flowers and trees that are 3-D.
6:43:51 > 6:43:53It's amazing, well worthy of a green Blue Peter badge.
6:43:53 > 6:43:55Congratulations to everybody.
6:43:55 > 6:43:57Thank you so much for sending in your post.
6:43:57 > 6:44:02Remember, all the Blue Peter badges are brilliant. Check these out!
6:44:02 > 6:44:04Wow!
6:44:04 > 6:44:08Any one of these can get you into over 200 attractions in the UK
6:44:08 > 6:44:11for free, so head to the website and check out all the details.
6:44:11 > 6:44:14All sorts of attractions, you've got wildlife parks, theme parks,
6:44:14 > 6:44:16aquariums, museums.
6:44:16 > 6:44:19In fact, only last week I was in a museum to meet a very cool guy
6:44:19 > 6:44:21called Damian Dibben. Are we changing cameras?
6:44:21 > 6:44:22Hi, I like this side.
6:44:22 > 6:44:25He's called Damian Dibben and he's really cool.
6:44:25 > 6:44:26He's written so many books
6:44:26 > 6:44:28that've been published in 40 different countries.
6:44:28 > 6:44:30They've been translated into 26 different languages.
6:44:30 > 6:44:33He uses all the objects around him for inspiration,
6:44:33 > 6:44:36so a museum is a perfect place to go to get just that inspiration.
6:44:36 > 6:44:39- Thanks.- Got some washing up, mate.
6:44:39 > 6:44:40That was my Jamie Oliver wrap!
6:44:44 > 6:44:47I'm here at the National Maritime Museum in London
6:44:47 > 6:44:50to meet an amazing author called Damian Dibben.
6:44:50 > 6:44:53He uses things you find in museums to write amazing stories.
6:44:53 > 6:44:55So let's go and see what we can find.
6:44:59 > 6:45:02Now, you probably know that museums are where we keep
6:45:02 > 6:45:04old stuff for safekeeping.
6:45:04 > 6:45:08This museum is full of stories of discovery and adventures at sea.
6:45:09 > 6:45:11I've found my biggest fan!
6:45:11 > 6:45:14Have a look at this, this is the actual coat that Admiral Nelson
6:45:14 > 6:45:16was wearing at the Battle of Trafalgar.
6:45:16 > 6:45:19You can even see the bullet hole in the shoulder where he was shot.
6:45:23 > 6:45:26It's all very well having the inspiration,
6:45:26 > 6:45:28but you need to know how to put it together into a story.
6:45:28 > 6:45:31So I need to find Damien for some top tips.
6:45:31 > 6:45:32- You must be Damien.- Hi.
6:45:32 > 6:45:34- How are you doing? I'm Barney. - How are you?
6:45:34 > 6:45:36Nice to meet you, I'm very well.
6:45:36 > 6:45:39It was the notepad and pen that gave away that you're an author.
6:45:39 > 6:45:41I'm taking notes, I'm doing some drawings.
6:45:41 > 6:45:43Where do you find the inspiration for your stories?
6:45:43 > 6:45:46History is the greatest story of them all.
6:45:46 > 6:45:49What's even more incredible about it, it's all true.
6:45:49 > 6:45:52So just think of the incredible cast of people you've got
6:45:52 > 6:45:54from history, all the inventors, the explorers,
6:45:54 > 6:45:58the people who changed the world, the conquerors but also all the villains.
6:45:58 > 6:46:03And, interestingly, this week over the weekend is Museums at Night week,
6:46:03 > 6:46:07600 museums are going to be open and the public can go
6:46:07 > 6:46:09and see the special exhibitions.
6:46:09 > 6:46:13I'm doing a talk in Guildford Castle, in an old medieval hall.
6:46:13 > 6:46:16It's going to be a really special night.
6:46:16 > 6:46:18Let's talk about the History Keepers.
6:46:18 > 6:46:20For those that haven't read it, what's it about?
6:46:20 > 6:46:22Basically it's about a 14-year-old boy called Jake Jones
6:46:22 > 6:46:25who finds out his parents are lost in history,
6:46:25 > 6:46:28they are missing in history and he has to join this Secret Service
6:46:28 > 6:46:30called the History Keepers to track them down.
6:46:30 > 6:46:33If you were to give three top tips on things to think about
6:46:33 > 6:46:36while you're writing a story, what would they be?
6:46:36 > 6:46:38Passion for the story.
6:46:38 > 6:46:44I think interest in the world and all the great people who've been in it.
6:46:44 > 6:46:46And I think also discipline.
6:46:46 > 6:46:50You need to set aside your time or amount of words you're going
6:46:50 > 6:46:51to do a day and really stick to it,
6:46:51 > 6:46:54that's the only way you ever get a story finished.
6:46:54 > 6:46:56I've been inspired today, thanks very much, Damian.
6:46:56 > 6:46:58I'm going to have a look at a few things,
6:46:58 > 6:46:59see if I can write a story.
6:46:59 > 6:47:01But before I go I have to give you this,
6:47:01 > 6:47:02you've well and truly earned it.
6:47:02 > 6:47:05The most famous ship of all, the Blue Peter. Congratulations.
6:47:05 > 6:47:08Thank you so much. I honestly have been waiting for this all my life.
6:47:08 > 6:47:10I'm very touched.
6:47:10 > 6:47:13Right, then. I'm going to go and write this story. So, three things.
6:47:13 > 6:47:15Passion.
6:47:15 > 6:47:17I've already forgotten!
6:47:17 > 6:47:21I'm only kidding, I've remembered them. Three top tips.
6:47:21 > 6:47:24Passion, interest in the world around you and discipline.
6:47:24 > 6:47:25There's my inspiration, watch me go.
6:47:25 > 6:47:29Once upon a time there was a man with a red nose and a red chin
6:47:29 > 6:47:30and only one shoe on.
6:47:30 > 6:47:34And one day he was making a really scary face and the wind changed,
6:47:34 > 6:47:37and he spent the rest of his life looking like Lindsey Russell.
6:47:37 > 6:47:39HE LAUGHS
6:47:39 > 6:47:41You're not going to show her this, are you?
6:47:45 > 6:47:47I'm not impressed, Barney.
6:47:47 > 6:47:49That'll teach you to eat my Jamie Oliver wrap!
6:47:49 > 6:47:51- Your jokes aren't funny, stop them!- Whatever, yeah?
6:47:51 > 6:47:54Let's talk about Damian Dibben. He's an amazing man.
6:47:54 > 6:47:57As you can see, he takes inspiration from those museum artefacts
6:47:57 > 6:47:58that he sees and write stories.
6:47:58 > 6:48:01If you feel like being inspired, send us your stories.
6:48:01 > 6:48:04Also, Museums at Night, a special event that happens in museums
6:48:04 > 6:48:05up and down the country and also galleries.
6:48:05 > 6:48:08You can stay after hours and experience some pretty cool stuff,
6:48:08 > 6:48:10or you can just watch it on your telly boxes.
6:48:10 > 6:48:1217th of May at 7pm on BBC Two.
6:48:12 > 6:48:15- Have you finished? - No, I'm English.
6:48:15 > 6:48:16- Carrying on!- Agh!
6:48:16 > 6:48:18Now it's time for you lot at home to get involved.

6:48:21 > 6:48:23because it's time for our live make-a-lon!
6:48:23 > 6:48:25WHOOPING AND CHEERING
6:48:25 > 6:48:27We're going to show you how to make a mini hovercraft.
6:48:27 > 6:48:30It's really simple and you only need four things to do it.
6:48:30 > 6:48:34Let's start by showing those. You're going to need an old CD or DVD.
6:48:34 > 6:48:36A sports cap from a bottle.
6:48:36 > 6:48:40You also need a balloon and some sticky tack.
6:48:40 > 6:48:42- Dead easy.- It is.
6:48:42 > 6:48:43It's so simple, in fact, we've got
6:48:43 > 6:48:46- some really special faces helping us today. Haven't we, Radz?- Yes.
6:48:46 > 6:48:49Look at the hovercraft go. All the way, all the way, all the way!
6:48:49 > 6:48:51Yes, it made it!
6:48:51 > 6:48:53We've got our help in the form of a dream team

6:48:57 > 6:48:58- Are we up for making?- ALL:- Yeah!
6:48:58 > 6:49:00Yes, they are. Lindsey.
6:49:00 > 6:49:03We've got some famous faces in the CBBC office as well.
6:49:03 > 6:49:05Shall we say hello to them? Chris and Shannon, hello.
6:49:05 > 6:49:07Good to see you, thanks for joining us.
6:49:07 > 6:49:10- And we've got Ayshah from Newsround. Hi!- Hey, guys.
6:49:10 > 6:49:11- Hello.- Hello.
6:49:11 > 6:49:14And we've got Patrick, Rebecca and Emma joining us on the videophone.
6:49:14 > 6:49:16- Hi, how are you doing, guys? - ALL:- Hi!
6:49:16 > 6:49:19They are in Northern Ireland and are wearing their silver Blue Peter
6:49:19 > 6:49:21badges because they sent us something a while ago.
6:49:21 > 6:49:24- They've nicknamed themselves the cul-de-sacees.- We love it!
6:49:24 > 6:49:26They designed this Blue Peter booklet.
6:49:26 > 6:49:28It has all you need to know about Blue Peter,
6:49:28 > 6:49:30all the information that they've learnt over the years.
6:49:30 > 6:49:33It's got special events like the Olympics,
6:49:33 > 6:49:35it's got a time when they met Helen, it's amazing.
6:49:35 > 6:49:37Guys, tell us about this, what made you come up with the idea?
6:49:37 > 6:49:40Well, in the book we put pictures...
6:49:42 > 6:49:45Oh, no, you got three lines out and then your audio went.
6:49:45 > 6:49:48GARBLED AUDIO
6:49:48 > 6:49:52..we made friends with our neighbours and then we sent it off to you.
6:49:52 > 6:49:54It's brilliant. You've all got together and designed
6:49:54 > 6:49:56a fantastic booklet - that's why you're on the telly.
6:49:56 > 6:49:58Thank you so much. It's time to get started.
6:49:58 > 6:50:00- Bring it on, sister. - It's super simple.
6:50:00 > 6:50:02If you haven't got all the items you need,
6:50:02 > 6:50:05fear not because this is all going to be on the website later,
6:50:05 > 6:50:06bbc.co.uk/bluepeter.
6:50:06 > 6:50:09But for now, we'll start to show you what to do.
6:50:09 > 6:50:13- You need to get your sticky tack. - I'm just starting with the steps.
6:50:13 > 6:50:15Barney is my beautiful model for today.
6:50:15 > 6:50:18You need to roll that into a kind of sausage shape.
6:50:18 > 6:50:20It doesn't have to be too thin.
6:50:20 > 6:50:23How are we getting on, Chris and Shannon?
6:50:23 > 6:50:27I've gone for the old stretch. I stretched it first and then...
6:50:27 > 6:50:29- I like that.- Good technique, that.
6:50:29 > 6:50:32- Chris is using his whole arm, which is nice.- The whole desk!
6:50:32 > 6:50:34Ayshah, how are you getting on in Newsround?
6:50:34 > 6:50:36Not too bad, it's harder than you think.
6:50:36 > 6:50:39- You have to put a bit of effort in. - You do with the rolling bit.
6:50:39 > 6:50:43But this is when it gets easier because you need to turn your sausage
6:50:43 > 6:50:47into a circle shape and that will go around the end of the bottle top.
6:50:47 > 6:50:50- Barney, you are doing really well. - Thank you very much, Lindsey.
6:50:50 > 6:50:53Make sure the bottle top is closed, that's really important,
6:50:53 > 6:50:56because it's going to keep all the air in your hovercraft later.
6:50:56 > 6:50:59- Good tip, Lindsey. - And really press it down as well.
6:50:59 > 6:51:00- OK.- Go on, really press it.
6:51:00 > 6:51:02How are you getting on over there in the corner?
6:51:02 > 6:51:05Very well, we are racing ahead already. How are you getting on?
6:51:05 > 6:51:08- Great.- And how are you getting on? - Awesome.
6:51:08 > 6:51:10We are doing very, very well here,
6:51:10 > 6:51:13but you can't have any air gaps, that's why I'm taking my time.
6:51:13 > 6:51:15- Lindsey, back to you. - Well done.
6:51:15 > 6:51:17Next, you need to get your old CD or DVD
6:51:17 > 6:51:21- and simply plonk the top into the middle.- Technical term, plonking.
6:51:21 > 6:51:24Push it quite hard.
6:51:24 > 6:51:26You really want to get rid of any air gaps.
6:51:26 > 6:51:29The most important part here is that the bottle top is shut,
6:51:29 > 6:51:30that's really important.
6:51:30 > 6:51:33- Shannon, how are you getting on? Chris?- Really well.
6:51:33 > 6:51:37- We think we are nearly there. - I think Chris has got the giggles.
6:51:37 > 6:51:40- Ayshah, how are you getting on? - Not too bad.
6:51:40 > 6:51:44I'm a bit worried about the air bubbles, but I'm hoping it's OK.
6:51:44 > 6:51:48- Northern Ireland, yellow team, how's it going?- Really good.
6:51:48 > 6:51:49Look at those smiley faces.
6:51:49 > 6:51:52Shows how simple it is, they're all getting involved today.
6:51:52 > 6:51:56Next thing is a bit tricky. You may need somebody to help...
6:51:56 > 6:51:58Barney. ..somebody to help you.
6:51:58 > 6:52:02You need to put your balloon onto the top of the bottle top.
6:52:02 > 6:52:04So, Barnes, blow away.
6:52:04 > 6:52:07Get quite a lot of air in there. The more you get in...
6:52:11 > 6:52:14How are you getting on, Shannon? Come on.
6:52:14 > 6:52:18Oh, Shannon, you were so good in rehearsal. It's all gone wrong.
6:52:18 > 6:52:22- Ayshah? Oh, you are doing very well. - Look at the size of mine.
6:52:22 > 6:52:25In Northern Ireland they are all helping each other out. Light-headed.
6:52:25 > 6:52:29Oh, they are a step ahead. OK, let's catch up with Northern Ireland.
6:52:29 > 6:52:32- You need to then put the balloon onto the top...- I've broken it.
6:52:32 > 6:52:35What Barney has done there is what you absolutely shouldn't do,
6:52:35 > 6:52:38- which is break the balloon. - I pulled it too hard.
6:52:38 > 6:52:41We've got another one we did earlier. And that's pretty much it, isn't it?
6:52:41 > 6:52:44- That's confidence for you. - I was about to say how simple it was,
6:52:44 > 6:52:47- but Barney's made it look difficult. - I'm sorry.- Well done.
6:52:47 > 6:52:51And then you've got your mini hovercraft. How did you guys get on?
6:52:51 > 6:52:55OK, we'll put it to the test now. We are going to lift off our caps.
6:52:55 > 6:53:00Are we ready to let them go? On three, two, one. Let them go!
6:53:00 > 6:53:04Let them go. That's pretty good. Give yourselves a round of applause.
6:53:04 > 6:53:06Yeah!
6:53:06 > 6:53:08Let's get a bit of help from our helpers in the studio.
6:53:08 > 6:53:12- Chris and Shannon, let's see yours. - Go, go, go!
6:53:17 > 6:53:21- Well played.- That's really good. - Ayshah, how about you?
6:53:21 > 6:53:23I'll try it now.
6:53:24 > 6:53:27- Yes!- Well done.
6:53:27 > 6:53:30And what about our cul-de-sacees?
6:53:30 > 6:53:34- Let's see you guys have a go. Patrick, have you done yours?- Yes.
6:53:34 > 6:53:36You've got to put your balloon on, or it's not going to work.
6:53:36 > 6:53:39- It's been and gone.- OK.
6:53:39 > 6:53:42- Well done, everyone.- We'll come back and see how you're getting on.
6:53:42 > 6:53:45Remember, if you didn't have all the items or didn't make it live
6:53:45 > 6:53:49with us, fear not because all the details will be on the website,
6:53:49 > 6:53:51bbc.co.uk/bluepeter.
6:53:51 > 6:53:55Or failing that, go to CBBC iPlayer later and check it out. Radzi.
6:53:55 > 6:53:58How good was that? Can I have my helmet?
6:53:58 > 6:54:01Now, you've seen Barney and I pass our hovercraft test,
6:54:01 > 6:54:05now it's the business end because it's race time.
6:54:09 > 6:54:11You can hear the engines, you can smell the fuel,
6:54:11 > 6:54:13my heart is pounding, it is race day.
6:54:13 > 6:54:16- How're you feeling.- Before training I couldn't have been more nervous.
6:54:16 > 6:54:18When I finally got in, I couldn't have loved it more.
6:54:18 > 6:54:19We've had our training,
6:54:19 > 6:54:21we passed our test, we've had our safety briefing.
6:54:21 > 6:54:24The hovercrafts have been checked, they are definitely ready.
6:54:24 > 6:54:29- We are definitely not.- Barney?- What? - It's time to get in the zone.
6:54:43 > 6:54:47They're kitted out and ready to go. Let's meet our racers.
6:54:47 > 6:54:51In red, number 157, it's Radzi.
6:54:55 > 6:54:59In blue, number 156, Mr Barney Harwood.
6:55:05 > 6:55:08All right, boys, it's time to get in your vehicles.
6:55:08 > 6:55:11Barney, it might help if you face the right way.
6:55:13 > 6:55:14Let's do this!
6:55:19 > 6:55:21The race will last for 10 minutes.
6:55:21 > 6:55:24Whoever completes the most laps in this time wins.
6:55:24 > 6:55:26And we're off.
6:55:27 > 6:55:30It's a slow start for Radzi, and I take an early lead.
6:55:32 > 6:55:35Just get your confidence, Radzi.
6:55:35 > 6:55:39We both made it safely round corner one and before we know it,
6:55:39 > 6:55:40lap one was over.
6:55:40 > 6:55:43But on lap two, I'm still in the lead.
6:55:43 > 6:55:45Anything can happen, Barney.
6:55:45 > 6:55:47And it did, on lap three.
6:55:50 > 6:55:52Barney Harwood has crashed.
6:55:52 > 6:55:56Barney, if you can hear me, mate, I hope you are all right, buddy.
6:55:56 > 6:55:59But thanks as well because I'm now in the lead.
6:55:59 > 6:56:01My engine just died.
6:56:02 > 6:56:04I didn't do anything.
6:56:04 > 6:56:07Yeah, that's more like it, hold it, don't lose it.
6:56:10 > 6:56:12Go, go, go!
6:56:12 > 6:56:15Yeah! Yeah, yeah, yeah!
6:56:15 > 6:56:17Whoo! We got away with it.
6:56:17 > 6:56:22Keep on making those mistakes, Radzi, I'm not far behind.
6:56:25 > 6:56:28Here we go, concentrate now, Radzi.
