:00:13. > :00:20.Coming up, the star of award-winning musical Wicked is here performing
:00:21. > :00:24.for you. Look at these, they are jellied worms. I'll be showing you
:00:25. > :00:29.how to make them. Lindsey and I trained at Silverstone in an epic
:00:30. > :00:31.race. If you've applied for a sporting badge we have some exciting
:00:32. > :00:58.news on today's programme. Welcome to a live Blue Peter
:00:59. > :01:04.Hallowe'en special. Take a look at the studio. How spooky is it? I love
:01:05. > :01:13.it. It's the perfect day to get dressed up and if you need
:01:14. > :01:17.inspiration to do that, jump on to the website. You can also play our
:01:18. > :01:26.game which is match-up mayhem and you can create creepy faces like the
:01:27. > :01:30.one I did there. It's all about the show today and the one thing I'm
:01:31. > :01:34.excited about is getting dressed up. That's got to be the best part.
:01:35. > :01:38.Maybe you're on half term already or on the way back from school and get
:01:39. > :01:42.dressed at school. Whatever you re doing, we would like to know. This
:01:43. > :01:48.is a live show, so send it to us. Send a photograph to the e-mail
:01:49. > :01:52.is a live show, so send it to us. should have some inspiration for
:01:53. > :01:58.is a live show, so send it to us. this and show a picture of Lindsey
:01:59. > :02:04.when she was four years old. Look at this. This is Lindsey dressed as a
:02:05. > :02:10.witch. The cutest thing ever. And she's dressed like that today. Good
:02:11. > :02:15.one. Get in touch. Whatever it is, let us know and we'll read out as
:02:16. > :02:20.many of your comments later. Really, we're getting into the spirit. We
:02:21. > :02:24.know you guys are at home, because you've been sending in some great
:02:25. > :02:32.photographs of all your pumpkins, after we show you how to get
:02:33. > :02:37.creative last week. Check them out. This is from Chloe. She made it with
:02:38. > :02:41.her dad. Look at the writing and the detailing. It's got a proper font
:02:42. > :02:57.and everything. Look at this. This is Oliver a Miles. Lexie, Sammy
:02:58. > :03:04.Hattie and George have made three. On the inside there is a bat. It's
:03:05. > :03:08.very good. It is. You can see there is a real theme. You saw these last
:03:09. > :03:12.week, because Radzi was chucking them into his mouth in a gross way.
:03:13. > :03:16.These are jelly worms. If you follow me over here I'll show you how to
:03:17. > :03:19.make them. The great thing about Blue Peter we have the makes that
:03:20. > :03:25.everyone gets involved with. I want to show you this, but this is
:03:26. > :03:30.genius. This is Milky the skeleton made by Emma. Look at it, milk
:03:31. > :03:35.bottles cut into bits. I love stuff like that. Have a go and let us know
:03:36. > :03:42.how you get on. Welcome all to the show. You all look spooky. How are
:03:43. > :03:47.you Fine. What do you like? Dressing up and being scared, but in a good
:03:48. > :03:51.way. Good to know. Ooiple going to show you how to make the worms. The
:03:52. > :03:56.ingredients that you need and if you don't have any, they're on the
:03:57. > :04:01.website, you'll need two packs of jelly. We'll start with that.
:04:02. > :04:11.website, you'll need two packs of those up into cubes. Ual some gel
:04:12. > :04:18.tin leaves. You can get vegetarian ones of these. Whipped cream. Some
:04:19. > :04:24.food colouring, red and green. You'll need some flexible drinking
:04:25. > :04:34.straws, and that bendy bit is the body of the worm, which is cool
:04:35. > :04:40.Also, some byes kiss -- some biscuits to crumble. You put all the
:04:41. > :04:44.jelly into a bowl and then you make jelly the usual way, with hot water.
:04:45. > :04:53.If you're not too sure, get an adult to help out. Once you've got it like
:04:54. > :05:09.this, make sure it's cool. You want to add the different bits. This is
:05:10. > :05:17.the gela tishingS -- gelatine. Try to pull them out. You do that one.
:05:18. > :05:23.When you have mixed in the cream, and the gelatine and food colouring
:05:24. > :05:27.it should make a weird, milky sort of texture mixture, because this
:05:28. > :05:32.makes the body of the worm. This will take a bit of time, so as
:05:33. > :05:37.usual, here's one that was made earlier. When you've done that, it
:05:38. > :05:40.will look like this. Look at that. That's lovely. It's very important
:05:41. > :05:46.you make sure it's cooled down a little, because otherwise it will be
:05:47. > :05:53.too hot. Straws done. Get the biscuits crunched up. Chuck them on
:05:54. > :06:01.to the plate. What do you like about Hallowe'en, Corbin? Going to all the
:06:02. > :06:01.parties. You can scare each other and
:06:02. > :06:07.parties. You can scare each other importantly you can get messy, which
:06:08. > :06:13.I'm going to show you how to do now. Put the straws into the glass. Pack
:06:14. > :06:21.them in. Here comes the messy bit. You take a ladle and do it over the
:06:22. > :06:25.bowl. Lexie, you do it. You come this side and I'll hold the glass.
:06:26. > :06:38.This is really important that the water is kaleed cooled down. -- is
:06:39. > :06:43.cooled down. Once you've filled that up to the rim of the glass, you let
:06:44. > :06:56.that set in the fridge for two to four hours and it comes out looking
:06:57. > :07:02.like this. The best way to get them out of the straws, you squeeze the
:07:03. > :07:09.straw. You get the opposite end of the worm that you see and you push
:07:10. > :07:14.the straw like that. Look, out comes the worm. You can see there that's
:07:15. > :07:21.why you had to open the straw to get the body part. A great way to raise
:07:22. > :07:26.money is to sell them. Loving it. Those are great, but they look
:07:27. > :07:30.absolutely disgusting, like real worms. They are delicious. I tried
:07:31. > :07:38.one last week and they are very very nice. Speaking of last week, we
:07:39. > :07:43.asked you to get spotted outside simply for Autumnwatch. We wanted
:07:44. > :07:50.you to make this and you can head to the website and get outdoors. Ask
:07:51. > :07:54.your friends and family to sponsor you for seeing different wildlife,
:07:55. > :07:58.whether animals, creatures whatever it is and the donations you receive
:07:59. > :08:04.for Children in Need you can send them through our sponsorship page.
:08:05. > :08:08.That's right. If help, do not fear, because all of
:08:09. > :08:11.the team are help, do not fear, because all of
:08:12. > :08:15.busy spotting wildlife and this week help, do not fear, because all of
:08:16. > :08:20.they're in Leighton Moss. That's very true. We'll go down to the set
:08:21. > :08:28.right now to say hello to Michaela, Chris and Martin. We'll start from
:08:29. > :08:31.the top. We're talking about spotting wildlife for Children in
:08:32. > :08:35.Need. Give advice. Don't just look, go out when it's dark and listen.
:08:36. > :08:42.There's always sorts of things to hear. Birds overhead and foxes
:08:43. > :08:50.crying. I would say, borrow, or take a pair of bin knock las, because
:08:51. > :08:54.sometimes birds are miles away. It's not about the big and glamorous
:08:55. > :08:58.stuff and birds and mammals, but the little stuff. You might kind
:08:59. > :09:03.something really interesting under a log in the garden. Or behind some
:09:04. > :09:07.bark down the park. Concentrate on the little stuff rather than just
:09:08. > :09:11.the big stuff. On today's show we are talking about making jelly
:09:12. > :09:15.woRps, which are quite gross, but also quite funny and you can eat
:09:16. > :09:18.them. We're not just doing that because it's Hallowe'en, but we are
:09:19. > :09:24.talking about earthworms, because they like this time of year? I don't
:09:25. > :09:28.know about jelly worms, but earthworms love autumn and it's the
:09:29. > :09:31.time that all the leaves are off the trees and that's where they are at
:09:32. > :09:38.their best. They will be recycling all the dead leaves and doing it in
:09:39. > :09:42.an incredible way, so yeah, earthworms love autumn. Have you
:09:43. > :09:47.seen anything that has taken you by surprise now? We have. Particularly
:09:48. > :09:51.surprising, we found otters down here. Not just one, but three and we
:09:52. > :09:54.saw something that we think is unique and never been seen before.
:09:55. > :10:00.One of the otters was slapping the other in the face with its tail A
:10:01. > :10:05.new science. And comedy. You are known for following families, what's
:10:06. > :10:08.your theme this series? The theme of this Autumnwatch is migration,
:10:09. > :10:10.because this is the time of year when so many animals are on the
:10:11. > :10:15.move. We see the beautiful flocks when so many animals are on the
:10:16. > :10:22.things like knots and all sorts of birds in the sky. You have covered
:10:23. > :10:27.picture. I love this. This is a fox. We all know, but it's in the Blue
:10:28. > :10:30.Peter garden. Beautiful creatures, Chris? Beautiful, but they've been
:10:31. > :10:35.living in our cities since the 930s and we now think we have a
:10:36. > :10:40.population in the UK of up to 3 ,000 foxes living among us in our cities.
:10:41. > :10:45.What we are doing with them is interesting. We've got the new, very
:10:46. > :10:49.hi-tech radio claRs, which means -- collars, which means we can put them
:10:50. > :10:53.on the foxes and tell where they are in real time. The scientists can go
:10:54. > :10:56.out in the field and know exactly where that fox is and what we are
:10:57. > :11:01.hoping is that we can learn a lot more about these animals' habits
:11:02. > :11:06.living alongside us in the city I know you're busy, so thank you for
:11:07. > :11:14.joining us. See you soon. I love Autumnwatch. Gadgets and
:11:15. > :11:18.wildlife. Make sure you watch it tonight. As long as you're getting
:11:19. > :11:22.spotted that's what we would like you to do to raise money. The money
:11:23. > :11:31.that's raised goes to helping children all across the UK and
:11:32. > :11:35.here's another reason why they need your support. Imagine if there was
:11:36. > :11:39.nowhere to hang out, if your back yard was off limits and the streets
:11:40. > :11:44.in your area weren't that safe. There's no doubt about it, life
:11:45. > :11:48.would be pretty dull. That is the reality for many children living in
:11:49. > :11:55.some of the most deprived areas of the UK. I've come to the East End of
:11:56. > :12:01.Glasgow to meet Alistair and take a look around. Hi there. Hi. Is this
:12:02. > :12:08.your local playground? Yeah. What is it like to play here, because I
:12:09. > :12:14.noticed the trolley? There is glass. Actually in the playground? Yeah.
:12:15. > :12:19.Where are the swings? They got down because of vandalising. Alistair's
:12:20. > :12:20.out on the streets with his ball if he's not here. This is the area
:12:21. > :12:25.where I play. There's a lot of he's not here. This is the area
:12:26. > :12:29.rubbish in that about. he's not here. This is the area
:12:30. > :12:34.anywhere were you can play? I'll show you. This is a project that
:12:35. > :12:39.puts the colour back no children's lives, by providing safe, in-door
:12:40. > :12:44.and out-door activity across the East End of Glasgow. There's so much
:12:45. > :12:50.to get involved in from football to craft, even growing your own
:12:51. > :12:54.vegetable. -- vegetables. I've come to the allotment to find out what is
:12:55. > :12:59.on offer from project manager, John. Why is it so important for the
:13:00. > :13:03.locals? It operates in one of the most deprived areas in the country.
:13:04. > :13:07.Families can't provide for the children and young people, so we
:13:08. > :13:10.will provide a range of different things, community youth clubs and
:13:11. > :13:14.street play and environmental projects. There is a whole lot of
:13:15. > :13:18.different things we're involved in. Everything we provide is 100% free.
:13:19. > :13:23.It's money from Children in Need that helps Playbusters employ people
:13:24. > :13:30.like James. You've been involved for a long time. How does coming here
:13:31. > :13:34.help the children? We get a lot of kids who say they can't do it. And
:13:35. > :13:39.then they sit there and they see they can do it and it gives them
:13:40. > :13:42.something to try something new. It's great to build up confidence. It's
:13:43. > :13:48.theirs. Not just somewhere they come, but theirs. You are getting
:13:49. > :13:56.nice and muddy. What you're up to? Digging this to plant new things in
:13:57. > :14:01.it. What kind of things? Sweetcorn and potatoes. What do you like most?
:14:02. > :14:07.It gets you off the streets and it's really good fun and you get to meet
:14:08. > :14:12.new people and friends. Youth groups are another great way of getting
:14:13. > :14:20.local children involved in activity. You are a community worker. What do
:14:21. > :14:26.the do -- children do? Colouring in with art. What what do you -- what
:14:27. > :14:28.do you do here? I do what the kids want. It's laid-back. At home they
:14:29. > :14:34.might not be able to want. It's laid-back. At home they
:14:35. > :14:39.When you come here you get it all done. There's lots to do and you
:14:40. > :14:44.never get bored. It's not just about having fun, there are more serious
:14:45. > :14:50.benefits too. How do you think being involved in this has changed you? My
:14:51. > :14:54.behaviour and that. In school I was not well behaved, but I became a
:14:55. > :15:01.volunteer and my behaviour has changed for me. How important is the
:15:02. > :15:05.money provided? Without the support of Children in Need we simply would
:15:06. > :15:10.not be able to provide the services that you've seen today. It would be
:15:11. > :15:15.impossible. The money raised from Children in Need really does make a
:15:16. > :15:25.difference, so get up, get involved and get spotted for Children in
:15:26. > :15:32.Need. Hi, what are you going to do to get spotted for Children in Need?
:15:33. > :15:37.I'm Tim Minchin and I want you to get spotted for Children in Need. Hi
:15:38. > :15:44.there, we are Sam and Matt and what are you going to do to get spotted
:15:45. > :15:48.for Children in Need? Every single person I met in Glasgow were great.
:15:49. > :15:54.The work they do is great. You've seen how far the money goes, so
:15:55. > :15:59.whatever it is, get spotted. On a separate camera shot, hi. I think
:16:00. > :16:02.that you, the audience are incredible. Every time we talk about
:16:03. > :16:08.something on the show you respond in so many numbers and look at this. We
:16:09. > :16:11.have been asking to talk about the light show and you have been sending
:16:12. > :16:16.in your spots. Look at this. See if you can see your spots. I love this
:16:17. > :16:24.music. My favourite is at the top from Megan from High Wycombe. That
:16:25. > :16:28.is padcy in a cake. This is Meera and this is me with the smile and
:16:29. > :16:31.that's Radzi. I can't tell and that's Lindsey there. We are all
:16:32. > :16:37.lying down in water as if on holiday. I like it. This one is from
:16:38. > :16:41.Tom in Stockport and he's done a spot with the ship and spots on the
:16:42. > :16:48.ship. Spots everywhere. Well done, Tom. If you do some fundraising or
:16:49. > :16:51.send us a spot, we want to know who you are doing and where and we would
:16:52. > :16:56.like to hear from you, but if you tell us where you're from we can put
:16:57. > :17:00.you on the map which looking busy. I've got to say, Scotland not so
:17:01. > :17:04.busy. There is not a lot happening there. Both of our mums are from
:17:05. > :17:17.Scotland. I love Scotland and so come on Scotland, get doing. Get
:17:18. > :17:23.spotted. From fundraising to fast cars. Radzi and I have been gearing
:17:24. > :17:28.up for a mammouth race and next week you'll see us battling it out, but
:17:29. > :17:36.before that, we thought we needed a bit of training. We did.
:17:37. > :17:49.Rally driving - it's high-octane, high-speed and highly scary. Rally
:17:50. > :17:56.driving is t most extreme of extreme sports. We have been set a pretty
:17:57. > :18:04.extreme challenge. We are going to race the Great Orme stage of the
:18:05. > :18:11.Wales Rally GB. However, there is one problem, neither of us are
:18:12. > :18:29.particularly good at driving. What am I doing? Thank you. Sorry. I m
:18:30. > :18:33.sorry. He can't drive. Sorry. Joking aside, if we are going to stand a
:18:34. > :18:40.chance making it as drivers, we are going to need some expert help. We
:18:41. > :18:45.have come to Silverstone's rally circuit to get a crash course from
:18:46. > :18:47.Brian Spencer. circuit to get a crash course from
:18:48. > :18:57.is made up of smooth, muddy and loose shale surfaces. Brake, brake,
:18:58. > :19:02.look how muddy it is. Adjust the speed to suit. He wants to assess
:19:03. > :19:13.our skills and it's pretty clear that neither of us are naRls. Left
:19:14. > :19:20.turn. Brake, second gear. That's fourth. You are accelerating while
:19:21. > :19:26.you're turning. Feed it. Gentle That was accelerating. After a bit
:19:27. > :19:31.more practice, and as we build up confidence, Brian wants to see how
:19:32. > :19:40.we are at cornering the car, a skill that is crucial to master the Great
:19:41. > :19:47.Rome. -- the great Orme. Brake, brake, brake. That's better. Go on.
:19:48. > :19:56.Gentle. Use all the road. That was better. Yeah. While it's clear I
:19:57. > :20:06.need to be braver and give it more speed, Radzi is the opposite. Yeah,
:20:07. > :20:12.yeah. I got away with it. Cars like this go from zero to 60 in six
:20:13. > :20:20.seconds, so drivers need quick reactions. Brian has a trick. Can we
:20:21. > :20:30.regain control when he pulls on the handbrake? Accelerate. Go on.
:20:31. > :20:35.Accelerate. OK, so I need more power and Radzi needs less. But the more
:20:36. > :20:43.time we spend behind the wheel the better we are at this rallying lark.
:20:44. > :20:48.Well, sort of. Power, power. Power. There's so much to think about. OK,
:20:49. > :20:54.with our lesson about to end, Brian thinks we're up to trying a timed
:20:55. > :21:11.lap each of the one-mile course Go, go, go, go. Left at the top. Come
:21:12. > :21:21.on. Go on. Flat, flat. That was all right. Straight. Straight. Hair pin
:21:22. > :21:30.right. Very good. Left at the top again. Finished. Who is the better
:21:31. > :21:41.driver? Your time was 78.22. Lindsey, 76-41. You are quicker Are
:21:42. > :21:46.you being serious? Commiserations. Don't be too pleased, that was
:21:47. > :21:52.merely the warm-up. We are going to need every ounce of driving skill we
:21:53. > :21:59.have as we race the three-mile Great Orme stage of the Wales Rally GB.
:22:00. > :22:04.Watch the road. It's one of the greatest and toughest rally stages
:22:05. > :22:14.in the UK. Brake, down to third Brake. Brake. You can't leave it
:22:15. > :22:19.there. What a cliff-hanger, littlely. I want one. I want one
:22:20. > :22:24.too. Talking about yourself, at the start of the show you mentioned the
:22:25. > :22:30.sports badge. Right there, it's my favourite badge of all of them.
:22:31. > :22:38.We'll tell you about it. Lindsey and I posted 6,239 BP sport badges. So
:22:39. > :22:42.if you got in touch and applied then keep your eye on the post
:22:43. > :22:45.because it could arrive through your door. We just have time to read out
:22:46. > :22:49.some of your comments and photographs, because you've been
:22:50. > :22:54.telling us about your frunky dress-up. First, we have Molly and
:22:55. > :23:02.Lottie, both six and dressed up ready for their first treat or
:23:03. > :23:08.Lottie, both six and dressed up treating adventure. I. There is a
:23:09. > :23:15.cheetah and a wee cheetah there That's Rory. He's dressed as a scary
:23:16. > :23:22.scientist. Next one, it's from Isla, she is 11 and dressed as Florence
:23:23. > :23:27.Nightingale and there are the two cheetahs. Andrew says to us that
:23:28. > :23:36.he's going dressed as a vampire classic. Thank you so much for
:23:37. > :23:41.getting in touch. Next week - You saw the trailer we did, but next
:23:42. > :23:48.week it's the big one. We go head-to-head in a race to decide the
:23:49. > :23:56.champion. I get access back stage to the opening ceremony of the rugby
