7:52:05 > 7:52:08- which was so cold it was unbelievable.- Horrible.

7:52:08 > 7:52:10With myself and Lindsey. We had to swim in that for Sport Relief.

7:52:10 > 7:52:13That was part of my Lake Windermere challenge. Thank you, Erin.

7:52:13 > 7:52:16Thank you, everyone who got in touch and sent those in.

7:52:16 > 7:52:19Now, back to Sport Relief, cos this year it is all about running,

7:52:22 > 7:52:27Radzi take on his epic swim at Lake Windermore...Windermere?

7:52:27 > 7:52:30And you've seen us do a very different kind of cycle ride.

7:52:30 > 7:52:33So that's swimming and cycling, Blue Peter style.

7:52:33 > 7:52:36So it's not going to be an ordinary run we're taking part in.

7:52:36 > 7:52:37No. Take a look at this.

7:52:39 > 7:52:41STARTING PISTOL

7:52:41 > 7:52:43COMMENTARY IN JAPANESE

7:52:51 > 7:52:53- So it's a craze that started in Japan.- How?

7:52:53 > 7:52:56And when we saw that, we couldn't pass the opportunity by.

7:52:56 > 7:52:58So this is what happened

7:52:58 > 7:53:01when we got involved with our very own 31 legged race.

7:53:04 > 7:53:06We're hitting Birmingham to visit three schools

7:53:06 > 7:53:08preparing for the race of their lives.

7:53:08 > 7:53:11Sport Relief's 31 legged race.

7:53:11 > 7:53:13Sounds crazy? Well, it is.

7:53:13 > 7:53:16The 31 legged race is one of the most challenging sprints

7:53:16 > 7:53:18anyone could undertake.

7:53:18 > 7:53:2030 children will be joined by the ankle

7:53:20 > 7:53:23and attempt to run a distance of 50m.

7:53:23 > 7:53:25If anyone falls, the race will be halted

7:53:25 > 7:53:28and they will waste precious time before starting again.

7:53:28 > 7:53:31Three teams will compete, with the fastest two going through to a final

7:53:31 > 7:53:34for the Sport Relief games.

7:53:34 > 7:53:35What each of the groups didn't know

7:53:35 > 7:53:38was that waiting outside was their secret weapon - one of us.

7:53:38 > 7:53:40You are officially Team Barney.

7:53:40 > 7:53:42- Team Radzi!- Yes!

7:53:42 > 7:53:44Team Lindsey.

7:53:44 > 7:53:45CHEERING

7:53:46 > 7:53:49Then it was time to warm up. I took the traditional approach.

7:53:49 > 7:53:52Down and up. Good.

7:53:52 > 7:53:56My master plan was that if you looked great, you would feel great.

7:53:57 > 7:53:59# Radzi's team are rubbish... #

7:53:59 > 7:54:02'And I...well, I had my own technique.'

7:54:02 > 7:54:05# Radzi's team are rubbish! Lindsey's team are rubbish! #

7:54:07 > 7:54:08The teams carried on training

7:54:08 > 7:54:11and after a few weeks, it was time for us to have a chat.

7:54:13 > 7:54:16Hi, everyone! Hi!

7:54:16 > 7:54:19- What have you been doing for training?- Jumping on a mat so far!

7:54:19 > 7:54:21Jumping on a mat? Right!

7:54:21 > 7:54:23Have people been tripping over a bit?

7:54:23 > 7:54:25Yeah.

7:54:25 > 7:54:27How confident are you we are going to win this?

7:54:27 > 7:54:30- About nine.- Yeah, about a nine. - Nine? I can go for a nine.

7:54:32 > 7:54:35So at last, it was race day.

7:54:35 > 7:54:39We're here early on a chilly morning at Birmingham NEC Arena.

7:54:39 > 7:54:41To find out which two teams are going to come out on top.

7:54:41 > 7:54:44Well, it's obvious. I think my team is going to come out on top.

7:54:44 > 7:54:45- Well...- If by yours you mean me.

7:54:45 > 7:54:47CHEERING

7:54:47 > 7:54:49Each team will get three chances to run

7:54:49 > 7:54:52but only the fastest two will go through to the final.

7:54:52 > 7:54:53Let's get this going.

7:54:53 > 7:54:56'First up in heat one, it was Team Barney.'

7:54:56 > 7:54:58AIR HORN SOUNDS

7:54:58 > 7:54:59And they're off.

7:55:01 > 7:55:02They're good.

7:55:04 > 7:55:06But just when we thought it was going well...

7:55:06 > 7:55:07No, no!

7:55:08 > 7:55:10..it was bad.

7:55:10 > 7:55:13But when you fall, you have to pick yourself up as quickly as possible.

7:55:15 > 7:55:16They're fast.

7:55:20 > 7:55:21That was really good, wasn't it?

7:55:21 > 7:55:24- Your team are good. - They were properly organised.

7:55:24 > 7:55:27'Next up, Team Radzi!'

7:55:27 > 7:55:30- Are we going to win?- Yeah!

7:55:30 > 7:55:33That's what I'm talking about! Let's do it.

7:55:33 > 7:55:34AIR HORN SOUNDS

7:55:36 > 7:55:38'My team started well.'

7:55:38 > 7:55:40- That's how we want it. - Really good rhythm.

7:55:40 > 7:55:41'Until...

7:55:43 > 7:55:44'..a massive setback.'

7:55:45 > 7:55:48'We got back on our feet too,

7:55:48 > 7:55:51'but would we be as quick as Team Barney?'

7:55:51 > 7:55:53Nearly at the end, nearly at the end.

7:55:53 > 7:55:55Yeah!

7:55:55 > 7:55:57Yes!

7:55:57 > 7:56:00But then it was time for me to inject a touch of girl power.

7:56:00 > 7:56:03Team Lindsey!

7:56:03 > 7:56:06They're driven, they're determined. They know what they are doing.

7:56:06 > 7:56:07AIR HORN SOUNDS

7:56:12 > 7:56:15- We've got one down, we've got one down.- It's OK.

7:56:15 > 7:56:18'It was clear that Team Lindsey were really having problems

7:56:18 > 7:56:21'finding their feet in this race.'

7:56:21 > 7:56:24This is their first run, though. They have two more attempts at this.

7:56:51 > 7:56:53They're all down!

7:56:53 > 7:56:55That's the worst fall we've had so far.

7:57:00 > 7:57:02Having a nightmare.

7:57:02 > 7:57:04They fell and they fell

7:57:04 > 7:57:05and they fell.

7:57:05 > 7:57:08I feel like nerves are getting the better of them.

7:57:09 > 7:57:12Well, I am relieved that's over.

7:57:34 > 7:57:37With the final heat fast approaching, it was all still to play for.

7:57:37 > 7:57:39Now we've seen them go horribly wrong,

8:00:35 > 8:00:38What's it like to see your face as an animation?

8:00:38 > 8:00:40It's very surreal and weird,

8:00:40 > 8:00:42a little me running around,

8:00:42 > 8:00:45- and I've got springs and... - You've got trainers on.

8:00:45 > 8:00:47Unfortunately I'm not allowed that in real competitions!

8:00:47 > 8:00:50Now, earlier on, Katarina had a go herself on the game,

8:00:50 > 8:00:53which is at bbc.co.uk/bluepeter.

8:00:53 > 8:00:55If you fancy, go and see if you can beat her,

8:00:55 > 8:00:59- but it is a tough score to beat.- It really is. You smashed it. Well done.

8:00:59 > 8:01:00And massive well done on your medal.

8:01:00 > 8:01:03Congratulations and good luck for the future.

8:01:03 > 8:01:06- Thank you for coming in today. - Thank you for having me.

8:01:06 > 8:01:08It is a cool game. Make sure you play that.

8:01:08 > 8:01:11In a few minutes I'm going to show you how to make these berry bites,

8:01:11 > 8:01:13because today's show is designed to show how you can raise money

8:01:13 > 8:01:16for Sport Relief, because all the money you raise

8:01:16 > 8:01:18goes to a worthy cause, and here's Little Mix to tell you why.

8:01:25 > 8:01:26ALL: Hi, we're Little Mix.

8:01:26 > 8:01:29And we're here in Liberia, west coast of Africa.

8:01:29 > 8:01:32We're here to see what the money raised for Sport Relief can do.

8:01:32 > 8:01:34And understand why we should get involved.

8:01:34 > 8:01:37Here's our Blue Peter Sport Relief report.

8:01:37 > 8:01:40'This is Monrovia, the capital city of Liberia.

8:01:40 > 8:01:43'It's the most overcrowded part of the country.

8:01:43 > 8:01:46'Nearly eight out of ten people living here

8:01:46 > 8:01:48'survive on less than 70p a day.

8:01:48 > 8:01:50'This area is known as Slipway.

8:01:50 > 8:01:53'A lot of people here have little or no money.

8:01:53 > 8:01:57'But Kemah and her family have found a way to make ends meet.'

8:01:57 > 8:01:58What do you guys do for a living?

8:01:58 > 8:02:00We sell fish.

8:02:00 > 8:02:01- You sell the fish?- Yes.

8:02:01 > 8:02:03How many children do you have?

8:02:04 > 8:02:08I have five children, plus my brother's children, nine.

8:02:08 > 8:02:12- Nine?- Yes.- Wow! Big family.- Yes.

8:02:12 > 8:02:15'Time to pay them a visit at home.'

8:02:15 > 8:02:16- How are you?!- Fine!

8:02:22 > 8:02:25'Bedtime all together can be fun, but daily life is often difficult

8:02:25 > 8:02:29'in Slipway. The pumps that supply water here are very unreliable.

8:02:29 > 8:02:32'There are few proper toilets and, for children like Jenny,

8:02:32 > 8:02:36'there is not enough clean water to go around.'

8:02:37 > 8:02:42- TRANSLATION:- If we want to drink, we have to buy water from the shop.

8:02:42 > 8:02:45- TRANSLATION:- I'm worried the area will make my children sick.

8:02:49 > 8:02:53- TRANSLATION:- I go to the toilet on the river bank.

8:02:53 > 8:02:57I go in a plastic bag, then I throw it in the water.

8:02:59 > 8:03:03They do not have a toilet. This is where they go. As you can see,

8:03:03 > 8:03:04there is loads of rubbish,

8:03:04 > 8:03:07loads of sharp things, which is really dangerous.

8:03:07 > 8:03:12Obviously, this is where they fish, as well, to eat.

8:03:12 > 8:03:15This is also where they dump all of this sewage, really.

8:03:15 > 8:03:16It's not nice.

8:03:18 > 8:03:22Because of this, children are at risk from cholera, whooping cough,

8:03:22 > 8:03:24pneumonia and meningitis,

8:03:24 > 8:03:28but many of the diseases here can be prevented by simple vaccines.

8:03:28 > 8:03:30- TRANSLATION: - I wish it could be different.

8:03:30 > 8:03:36I want my children to have a better life. I go to get fish

8:03:36 > 8:03:39to sell, so that there is food

8:03:39 > 8:03:44to eat and the children can go to school. I don't want them

8:03:44 > 8:03:46to struggle, like me.

8:03:48 > 8:03:52'On the other side of Monrovia is a township called West Point.

8:03:52 > 8:03:55'This is where Isata lives.' Hi! Pleased to meet you.

8:03:55 > 8:03:57'There are thousands of children here,

8:03:57 > 8:03:59'but there is no secondary school

8:03:59 > 8:04:03'and only one junior school, which families have to pay to attend.'

8:04:03 > 8:04:06- Do you go to school?- No.

8:04:06 > 8:04:08Why don't you go to school?

8:04:08 > 8:04:12- TRANSLATION: - My mum does not have enough money.

8:04:12 > 8:04:15'Lots of families in West Point cannot afford food, let alone school.

8:04:15 > 8:04:17'Children often end up working, instead of studying,

8:04:17 > 8:04:22'to help feed their family. Isata makes and sells a ginger drink.

8:04:22 > 8:04:24'Each bag brings in less than a penny.'

8:04:24 > 8:04:25Does she work every day?

8:04:25 > 8:04:29- Yes.- Does she sell every day? - Every day.- Every day?- Yes.- OK.

8:04:29 > 8:04:32So, then, sometimes, she doesn't really have time to play,

8:04:32 > 8:04:35- if she's tired?- No time. - OK, no time to play.

8:04:35 > 8:04:38'Around the corner from Isata lives Lucky,

8:04:38 > 8:04:42'whose life was turned upside down by the effects of poor sanitation.'

8:04:42 > 8:04:44Lucky's dad

8:04:44 > 8:04:48died of cholera, which was caused from the water used here.

8:04:48 > 8:04:51Obviously, him not being here

8:04:51 > 8:04:55has left the family with nothing, really.

8:04:55 > 8:04:59Whereabouts do you sleep?

8:04:59 > 8:05:06- On the floor.- Do you have a pillow?- No.- Or a blanket?

8:05:06 > 8:05:07'I'm a daddy's girl'

8:05:07 > 8:05:11and poor Lucky doesn't have a dad. He died from cholera,

8:05:11 > 8:05:12from using dirty water.

8:05:12 > 8:05:15The worst thing is that Lucky is still having to use it.

8:05:15 > 8:05:17But there is hope.

8:05:17 > 8:05:21You can make a change to the lives of children like Isata,

8:05:21 > 8:05:23Jenny and Lucky.

8:05:23 > 8:05:25Projects here which receive funding through Sport Relief

8:05:25 > 8:05:28are helping people get better access to clean water,

8:05:28 > 8:05:33the right medicines to treat diseases and the chance to go to school.

8:05:33 > 8:05:36The money you raise for Sport Relief can help to fund projects

8:05:36 > 8:05:38like the ones we visited today.

8:05:38 > 8:05:40And help families like the ones we have met.

8:05:40 > 8:05:44- Join in the fun and games.- Run, swim or cycle for Sport Relief Games.

8:05:44 > 8:05:45ALL: Thank you.

8:05:47 > 8:05:51Thank you, Little Mix. Let's show you how to make these berry bites.

8:05:51 > 8:05:54Now, Radzi, I don't think we can make these

8:05:54 > 8:05:57without the help of a superstar sports hero. How about that?

8:05:57 > 8:06:01I think you are exactly right, which is why it is my honour to introduce

8:06:01 > 8:06:05to you Team GB Winter Olympic skeleton champion Lizzy Yarnold!

8:06:05 > 8:06:08CHEERING

8:06:08 > 8:06:13Come on over, Lizzy! Lizzy, welcome to Blue Peter.

8:06:13 > 8:06:14Thank you.

8:06:14 > 8:06:19First things first, take a look at that whoppotron right there!

8:06:19 > 8:06:22- That is unreal.- Thank you, it's pretty awesome.

8:06:22 > 8:06:25How does it feel to be an Olympic gold medallist?

8:06:25 > 8:06:28It is just totally amazing. Do you want to try it on?

8:06:28 > 8:06:29I would love to try it on, yes.

8:06:29 > 8:06:32It's not as good as a Blue Peter badge. I've got that now.

8:06:32 > 8:06:34We have a Gold Blue Peter badge,

8:06:34 > 8:06:37and that is awarded to people who do incredible things,

8:06:37 > 8:06:40which is why we think we should do something right now, Radzi.

8:06:40 > 8:06:43- Absolutely. You have no idea we're going to do this.- Oh, my gosh!

8:06:43 > 8:06:45Now, we gave you a flapjack in rehearsal.

8:06:45 > 8:06:48- This is the highest accolade Blue Peter can give you.- Oh, wow!

8:06:48 > 8:06:51You're going to make me cry again. I've cried so much!

8:06:51 > 8:06:55- Wow! Thank you so much! - CHEERING AND APPLAUSE

8:06:56 > 8:06:59That's really amazing.

8:06:59 > 8:07:01- Thank you so much. - You are very welcome.

8:07:01 > 8:07:04Let me give you this back before I do something terrible.

8:07:04 > 8:07:07Instead, I'll make you some sweet treats. These are great for energy.

8:07:07 > 8:07:11- Daniel and Lena are here to help me out. Hello, how are you?- Good.

8:07:11 > 8:07:14All the ingredients that you need are on the website.

8:07:14 > 8:07:16You don't need to go there just yet,

8:07:16 > 8:07:18we'll show you how to make it first,

8:07:18 > 8:07:20and you can check it out later.

8:07:20 > 8:07:22In the pan, melting nicely,

8:07:22 > 8:07:24we have butter, honey

8:07:24 > 8:07:26and muscovado sugar.

8:07:26 > 8:07:28Give us a stir, Lena, make sure that's all mixed in.

8:07:28 > 8:07:31Daniel, let's talk through the dry ingredients.

8:07:31 > 8:07:33We have oats, sesame seeds and sunflower seeds.

8:07:33 > 8:07:35What about the other pots?

8:07:35 > 8:07:39Red dried fruit like cranberries, and cinnamon.

8:07:39 > 8:07:41Red dried fruits are good for iron,

8:07:41 > 8:07:43they're good for your blood.

8:07:43 > 8:07:45And the oats are good for slow-release energy.

8:07:45 > 8:07:47If you are going to use a hob to heat your pan up,

8:07:47 > 8:07:50be careful or get a grown-up to help you if you're not too sure.

8:07:50 > 8:07:54Let's mix all this dry stuff in a bowl. It is dead simple.

8:07:56 > 8:07:59While I do that, Daniel's greasing up the tin.

8:07:59 > 8:08:02We don't want this flapjack to stick when it goes into the oven.

8:08:02 > 8:08:08Speaking of which, set your oven to 140 Fan if it's electric,

8:08:08 > 8:08:09or Gas Mark 3, if it's gas.

8:08:09 > 8:08:12I'm going to mix these. It'll take some time.

8:08:12 > 8:08:15So, why don't you do our viewers' questions?

8:08:15 > 8:08:18Lizzy, we have a few questions and these are my favourites to ask you.

8:08:18 > 8:08:22The first one is from Aqua Jogging Zebra.

8:08:22 > 8:08:25Where did you leave your gold medal having won it?

8:08:25 > 8:08:28I didn't get the medal until the day after competition.

8:08:28 > 8:08:31I think straightaway I gave it to my mum and dad and my best mates

8:08:31 > 8:08:33and my sister. It was a big responsibility.

8:08:33 > 8:08:36I didn't want to lose it. I was giving it to everyone else.

8:08:36 > 8:08:38And you can't lose your Gold Blue Peter badge.

8:08:38 > 8:08:40- I know! I'm nervous already! - BOTH CHUCKLE

8:08:40 > 8:08:44It must be an amazing feeling to get that far to get your medal.

8:08:44 > 8:08:47Almost as amazing as it will feel when you try my flapjack!

8:08:47 > 8:08:51Now we need to put the wet stuff in with the dry stuff.

8:08:51 > 8:08:53I'll pour, because it is hot.

8:08:53 > 8:08:55You just spoon it.

8:08:55 > 8:08:57This takes a bit of time.

8:08:57 > 8:08:59This sugar and the honey solution

8:08:59 > 8:09:01is the glue that holds it together.

8:09:01 > 8:09:04Nice spooning action, Lena!

8:09:04 > 8:09:06Once it's all in there, stir it all together

8:09:06 > 8:09:08to make it into a nice bit of stodgy mess.

8:09:08 > 8:09:11Is that everything? Beautiful. It is all yours.

8:09:11 > 8:09:14- Radzi, more questions, please? - Rose Mammoth Primrose asks,

8:09:14 > 8:09:17if you were not an Olympic gold medallist,

8:09:17 > 8:09:18what would you be and why?

8:09:18 > 8:09:20I always loved the environment.

8:09:20 > 8:09:23So, I'd probably work with the Environment Agency,

8:09:23 > 8:09:27or with renewable energy like windmills, cool stuff like that.

8:09:27 > 8:09:31- I love just standing in a river in the middle of nowhere.- OK.

8:09:31 > 8:09:34Byzantium Soft Cheetah says how often do you train?

8:09:34 > 8:09:35And how do you train?

8:09:35 > 8:09:40I train four times a day, which is quite a lot, isn't it?

8:09:40 > 8:09:43We don't practise our skill for eight months of the year.

8:09:43 > 8:09:47We can only go on the ice when it's cold enough to have ice.

8:09:47 > 8:09:50- We have a picture of you in action. Look at that!- Wow!

8:09:50 > 8:09:53That is you at the Olympics! A round of applause!

8:09:53 > 8:09:55APPLAUSE

8:09:55 > 8:09:58A picture of perfection. Sorry, you were talking about your training?

8:09:58 > 8:10:02- We do lots of weightlifting. So, I've got quite good biceps.- Nice!

8:10:02 > 8:10:05- The guns are out!- It's actually how Lizzy got here today.

8:10:05 > 8:10:07LAUGHTER

8:10:07 > 8:10:11Our big, wet mixture is going into the beautifully greased tin.

8:10:11 > 8:10:12Daniel, thank you very much.

8:10:12 > 8:10:16Press that down with a fork so it's nice and flat.

8:10:16 > 8:10:20Violet Time Lord asks what age did you start practising skeleton?

8:10:20 > 8:10:23I was 19 when I got into skeleton.

8:10:23 > 8:10:27I did every other sport under the sun all through secondary school

8:10:27 > 8:10:29and primary school.

8:10:29 > 8:10:32I did high-board diving, athletics, netball, hockey, everything.

8:10:32 > 8:10:35Then found real love for the skeleton through the talent search.

8:10:35 > 8:10:38- I'm totally addicted. - And the best in the world.

8:10:38 > 8:10:40- Yes, I am!- Fabulous!

8:10:40 > 8:10:44Do you think that those sports have helped you be good at skeleton?

8:10:44 > 8:10:48They probably have. There are many skills you learn through life.

8:10:48 > 8:10:50Things like goal-setting, training hard.

8:10:50 > 8:10:53You don't become an Olympic champion overnight,

8:10:53 > 8:10:55or in the next week or next month.

8:10:55 > 8:10:56It takes a lot of time.

8:10:56 > 8:10:59I went to a school that finished at 3:30

8:10:59 > 8:11:02so I could train at the athletics track every night after school.

8:11:02 > 8:11:06- That's commitment!- If you're going to train, you need energy.

8:11:06 > 8:11:07So, an update on the process.

8:11:07 > 8:11:10The flattened mixture has gone into the oven for 30 minutes.

8:11:10 > 8:11:11It's come out when it's golden brown.

8:11:11 > 8:11:14Be careful when you take it out, because it will be hot.

8:11:14 > 8:11:16But you need to cut it up when it's hot, cos when it dries,

8:11:16 > 8:11:19it goes rock hard! So, cut it when it's nice and warm

8:11:19 > 8:11:22and then you've got your lovely berry bites.

8:11:22 > 8:11:26If you do make one, why not make a fantastic Team Blue Peter flag,

8:11:26 > 8:11:29which you can find a template of online?

8:11:29 > 8:11:31There you go, Lindsey, all done.

8:11:31 > 8:11:33- What do we think of those, guys? ALL:- Yum!

8:13:13 > 8:13:18# Feeling good don't ever cost a thing

8:13:21 > 8:13:24# And the pain you feel's a different kind of pain

8:13:28 > 8:13:29# Well, I'm going home

8:13:29 > 8:13:33# Back to the place where I belong

8:13:33 > 8:13:38# And where your love has always been enough for me

8:13:41 > 8:13:43# I'm not running from

8:13:47 > 8:13:52# I don't regret this life I chose for me

8:13:54 > 8:13:59# But these places and these faces are getting old
