7:46:56 > 7:47:03.
7:47:10 > 7:47:13Coming up on today's live Blue Peter,
7:47:13 > 7:47:18we meet some podgy pets who are going from fat to fit.
7:47:18 > 7:47:24Find out how to turn old winter gloves into your very own personal mascot.
7:47:24 > 7:47:29And we reveal the winning name and design in our Blue Peter plane competition.
7:47:47 > 7:47:50- Hello, hi.- Hello, welcome to Blue Peter.
7:47:50 > 7:47:52Let's start today's show by having a look at
7:47:52 > 7:47:56some of the trick photographs that you have been sending in.
7:47:56 > 7:48:00It's because Barney taught you how to do a technique called perspective photography.
7:48:00 > 7:48:02Barney's a very big fan.
7:48:02 > 7:48:07Perspective photography is where you make big things looks small and small things look big.
7:48:07 > 7:48:10This dog looks bigger on telly than he appears in real life.
7:48:10 > 7:48:12This picture is sent in by Lauren and Niamh.
7:48:12 > 7:48:14This is perspective photography at its best.
7:48:14 > 7:48:16Lauren is holding Niamh in the palm of her hand.
7:48:16 > 7:48:18Very simple to do, very effective.
7:48:18 > 7:48:20Barney's loving it, as you can see.
7:48:20 > 7:48:22This is Katie.
7:48:22 > 7:48:24- Katie's standing on top of the world.- Brilliant.
7:48:24 > 7:48:26A great idea, a lovely picture. Thank you.
7:48:26 > 7:48:28Grace and Poppy used a Wellington boot.
7:48:28 > 7:48:31She sat behind it so it looks like
7:48:31 > 7:48:33she's popping out of the boot.
7:48:33 > 7:48:36If you've got any dolls or anything with hands to hang over the welly,
7:48:36 > 7:48:38put that at the front and pretend they're your hands.
7:48:38 > 7:48:41It looks like you're inside it. It's cool and effective.
7:48:41 > 7:48:44Ellis and Luka have done something similar.
7:48:44 > 7:48:47- One of them is climbing out of a mug.- Brilliant, love it.
7:48:47 > 7:48:52This one's genius. The robot is actually stuck to the window.
7:48:52 > 7:48:54Ieuan sent this in. The robot is stuck to the window.
7:48:54 > 7:48:58He's put him on top of the greenhouse by moving the camera up and down over the robot.
7:48:58 > 7:49:01Very clever. Love your stuff. Please keep it coming in.
7:49:01 > 7:49:04We may read some more out at the end of the show.
7:49:04 > 7:49:08We know that you love personalising and customising your things,
7:49:08 > 7:49:10your folders and school bags.
7:49:10 > 7:49:14We've come up with a new way for you to turn old gloves into mascots,
7:49:14 > 7:49:18so you can really make your bits and bobs your own.
7:49:18 > 7:49:24Why is it that after a long, hard winter you can only ever seem to find one glove?
7:49:24 > 7:49:29In fact, people have even started their own blogs, websites and
7:49:29 > 7:49:34Twitter feeds all dedicated to the phenomenon that is the lost glove.
7:49:34 > 7:49:38But we've got a way for you to transform those single gloves
7:49:38 > 7:49:39into a cool new toy.
7:49:39 > 7:49:41Have a look at these.
7:49:41 > 7:49:44It's an example of upcycling, which means turning an item
7:49:44 > 7:49:48you can't use any more into something brand new.
7:49:48 > 7:49:50This is going to cost you next to nothing
7:49:50 > 7:49:53because the whole point is you use things laying around the house.
7:49:53 > 7:49:57So old redundant gloves, bits of string, buttons, pipe cleaners,
7:49:57 > 7:49:58whatever you've got.
7:49:58 > 7:50:00Be as creative as you like.
7:50:00 > 7:50:03You can make monsters, animals, loads of different colours.
7:50:03 > 7:50:05The sky is the limit. What are you going to do?
7:50:05 > 7:50:06The glove I have is brown.
7:50:06 > 7:50:10I'm going to make a Barney the dog toy.
7:50:10 > 7:50:13I found this old mountain-biking glove.
7:50:13 > 7:50:15I think it would make a really cool robot.
7:50:15 > 7:50:17Time to get cracking.
7:50:17 > 7:50:21First, you need to decide which bits of the glove you're going to use
7:50:21 > 7:50:23for the different body parts of your toy.
7:50:23 > 7:50:25If I want these to be the legs and that to be the body,
7:50:25 > 7:50:28I mark it out on there and use that as a guide
7:50:28 > 7:50:31so I don't make any mistakes when I'm cutting the glove out.
7:50:31 > 7:50:34Mark out which bits of the glove are going to be
7:50:34 > 7:50:36the legs, arms and body of your toy.
7:50:36 > 7:50:38Mine's going to need ears, I could use the wrist bit for that
7:50:38 > 7:50:40or maybe I could use that bit to make the head.
7:50:40 > 7:50:43- You'll probably want an eye on your robot?- Oh yeah, a bionic eye.
7:50:43 > 7:50:46It can see for miles. All robots have them.
7:50:46 > 7:50:48Once you've finished your plan
7:50:48 > 7:50:51it's time to cut out the different sections of your glove.
7:50:51 > 7:50:53You might want to get an adult to help.
7:50:53 > 7:50:56That will be Barney's legs.
7:50:56 > 7:50:59I can see that coming together. Yeah.
7:50:59 > 7:51:02I'm taking these gloves back - rubbish!
7:51:02 > 7:51:06Then, use a needle and some thick thread to sew up all the individual sections,
7:51:06 > 7:51:10but make sure you leave a little gap in each one.
7:51:10 > 7:51:11OK, I've sewn up all my body parts,
7:51:11 > 7:51:14we now need to put something in the middle of them.
7:51:14 > 7:51:16You need to stuff it.
7:51:16 > 7:51:18You can get stuffing from any craft shop,
7:51:18 > 7:51:20or you could use cotton wool, tissue,
7:51:20 > 7:51:26anything that is going to bring your dog, dinosaur or robot to life.
7:51:26 > 7:51:30Fill the body parts with stuffing and then sew up the holes.
7:51:30 > 7:51:32You can also use pipe-cleaners.
7:51:32 > 7:51:34I'm going to put a pipe-cleaner in Barney's tail.
7:51:34 > 7:51:38I've stitched some of the glove around this pipe-cleaner.
7:51:38 > 7:51:42- Look, you can bend his tail. - That's brilliant!
7:51:42 > 7:51:45Once the individual parts are finished,
7:51:45 > 7:51:48it's time to sew the different sections of the body together
7:51:48 > 7:51:51until your toy is complete.
7:51:51 > 7:51:53Now it's time to add the features.
7:51:53 > 7:51:55I'm going to give Barney some goggly eyes.
7:51:55 > 7:51:58I'm going to use a button with a bit of pipe-cleaner
7:51:58 > 7:52:01through the middle of it, it's going to be his bionic eye.
7:52:01 > 7:52:02He can hypnotise you with it!
7:52:02 > 7:52:06You some PVA or non-toxic fabric glue to stick on the features.
7:52:06 > 7:52:09Or just sew them up, you can be as creative as you like
7:52:09 > 7:52:12and accessorise your toy so that it's personal to you.
7:52:12 > 7:52:15There you have it, a great bit of upcycling
7:52:15 > 7:52:19to turn your old single glove into a brand new toy.
7:52:19 > 7:52:20How cute is Barney?
7:52:20 > 7:52:22IMITATES BARNEY: Hello, hello!
7:52:22 > 7:52:23That's nothing. Watch this!
7:52:23 > 7:52:26ELECTRONIC ROBOT NOISES
7:52:26 > 7:52:29DOG BARK
7:52:29 > 7:52:33I was a little bit scared by that but luckily things have calmed down
7:52:33 > 7:52:36and he's now just sat chilled in the studio, behaving himself.
7:52:36 > 7:52:39If you want any more information on how to make these toys,
7:52:39 > 7:52:41head over to the Blue Peter website.
7:52:41 > 7:52:43You'll find everything you need to know there.
7:52:43 > 7:52:47We're going to take it a step further and turn these toys into
7:52:47 > 7:52:51mascots that you can hang off your rucksacks or even your pencil case.
7:52:51 > 7:52:53You need to attach it to your school bag.
7:52:53 > 7:52:55You can do this by taking an old key ring.
7:52:55 > 7:52:58Take off the part that you don't want, the plastic fob,
7:52:58 > 7:53:00so that you're left with the metal part.
7:53:00 > 7:53:02I'm getting the giggles because
7:53:02 > 7:53:04- he pulls my leg about the way I say key ring.- Key ring.
7:53:04 > 7:53:06Stop bullying me. Key ring.
7:53:06 > 7:53:07When you are left with the metal part,
7:53:07 > 7:53:09use that to attach to your mascot.
7:53:10 > 7:53:13If you haven't got an old key ring,
7:53:13 > 7:53:15you can buy one from a craft shop.
7:53:15 > 7:53:17Because these are made out of wool,
7:53:17 > 7:53:19they're pretty easy to attach.
7:53:19 > 7:53:24All you do is pierce your mascot with the key ring.
7:53:24 > 7:53:27And then, easier said than done,
7:53:27 > 7:53:31then you can attach it to your school bag.
7:53:31 > 7:53:35- You've got yourself a mascot. - If you don't have a key ring,
7:53:35 > 7:53:39you can take a bit of string about 10cm long, fold it over into a loop
7:53:39 > 7:53:41and stitch it to the back of your toy.
7:53:41 > 7:53:44I'm going to add one more loop here.
7:53:44 > 7:53:48Once you've done that, cut off the thread like so.
7:53:48 > 7:53:50Then you want to feed the end of the string
7:53:50 > 7:53:54through the hole on the zip part of your pencil case.
7:53:54 > 7:53:57Then open it into a big loop and feed the toy through.
7:53:57 > 7:53:59That way, when you give it a pull,
7:53:59 > 7:54:01it's now fastened to the pencil case.
7:54:01 > 7:54:05A simple mascot you've made from a toy from the website.
7:54:05 > 7:54:08Please get in touch and show us if you have a go.
7:54:08 > 7:54:11We love it when we do something and you try it at home.
7:54:11 > 7:54:14Send us pictures and we'll show them next week.
7:54:14 > 7:54:16If you send us a photograph,
7:54:16 > 7:54:19we might be able to send you a Blue Peter badge.
7:54:19 > 7:54:23We're always been told to eat healthily and exercise plenty,
7:54:23 > 7:54:25but the same can be said about our pets.
7:54:25 > 7:54:29This is true. A third of cats in the UK are overweight or obese,
7:54:29 > 7:54:33no, sorry, a quarter of cats and a third of dogs in the UK.
7:54:33 > 7:54:35That's a lot. That's 6 million fat pets.
7:54:35 > 7:54:39It's quite a serious matter because if your pet is fat,
7:54:39 > 7:54:40they can get seriously ill.
7:54:40 > 7:54:42We sent Live 'N' Deadly's Naomi Wilkinson
7:54:42 > 7:54:45to meet some porky pets who are doing something about it.
7:54:45 > 7:54:47I just gave Barney some chocolate!
7:54:47 > 7:54:49This might look like an ordinary vet's.
7:54:49 > 7:54:52Lots of animals sitting around, waiting their turn.
7:54:52 > 7:54:57But there are a couple of pets here who are more anxious than most.
7:54:57 > 7:55:00And that's because they're here for their weigh-in.
7:55:03 > 7:55:06Pet obesity is becoming a huge problem in the UK.
7:55:06 > 7:55:11So veterinary charity, the PDSA, have set up a Pet Fit Club programme
7:55:11 > 7:55:14to help overweight animals slim down.
7:55:14 > 7:55:17Meet Fifi the cat and Deco the dog.
7:55:17 > 7:55:20They're both here because their love of food
7:55:20 > 7:55:22has given them whacking great waistlines.
7:55:22 > 7:55:24Fifi was found abandoned and starving.
7:55:24 > 7:55:29Her new owners believe this has given her an overactive appetite.
7:55:29 > 7:55:34Deco is a Labrador-Retriever cross who loves treats and stealing food.
7:55:35 > 7:55:39And this is the man trying to help them reach their target weights,
7:55:39 > 7:55:40vet, Sean Wensley.
7:55:40 > 7:55:43And first in for his check-up is Deco.
7:55:45 > 7:55:47Jan, how did Deco get this big?
7:55:47 > 7:55:51Everybody gave him treats on top of his normal meals.
7:55:51 > 7:55:54The neighbours used to feed him over the fence.
7:55:54 > 7:55:57- So, Molly, did he pinch your food? - Yeah!
7:55:57 > 7:56:02- What did you used to feed him? - Crisps, biscuits.
7:56:02 > 7:56:04- Not any more, then?- No.
7:56:04 > 7:56:08'Now that Deco has been on Sean's weight-loss programme
7:56:08 > 7:56:11'for four months, the pounds are starting to come off.'
7:56:11 > 7:56:14So it can be dangerous for your pets to be overweight?
7:56:14 > 7:56:18Yeah. We all love our pets. They're a member of the family.
7:56:18 > 7:56:20And although they love treats,
7:56:20 > 7:56:23in the long term, it's really having some bad effects.
7:56:23 > 7:56:26We'll have to see if he's shed any more pounds
7:56:26 > 7:56:28at his weigh-in later.
7:56:29 > 7:56:34A dog of Deco's size should be eating 350g of dog food a day.
7:56:34 > 7:56:39But he was actually eating his dog food plus his favourites,
7:56:39 > 7:56:41like yoghurt, chicken, crisps,
7:56:41 > 7:56:44and on some days, 33 buns!
7:56:44 > 7:56:48Next up to see Sean the vet, it's fat feline, Fifi.
7:56:48 > 7:56:51So, Monica, how did Fifi get this size?
7:56:51 > 7:56:54At any opportunity she wants to eat as much as possible.
7:56:54 > 7:56:57So is it purely down to overeating?
7:56:57 > 7:57:01Most pet food that we give our cats and dogs are complete,
7:57:01 > 7:57:04which means they contain everything a pet needs.
7:57:04 > 7:57:09As soon as we start giving extra things as treats and scraps,
7:57:09 > 7:57:13that's when their bodies struggle to deal with the extra nutrients.
7:57:13 > 7:57:15Even a small treat can be harmful.
7:57:15 > 7:57:20Giving them a single glass of milk is the equivalent of a human eating,
7:57:20 > 7:57:23wait for it, a whopping one, two, three,
7:57:23 > 7:57:26four and a half hamburgers!
7:57:26 > 7:57:29But it's not only diet that's important.
7:57:29 > 7:57:31How long should they exercise for?
7:57:31 > 7:57:34A dog should be doing at least half an hour twice a day.
7:57:39 > 7:57:43So that's Deco and me well and truly worn out!
7:57:43 > 7:57:46Time to see how Fifi's getting on with her workout.
7:57:46 > 7:57:48# What's new, pussycat?
7:57:48 > 7:57:50# Whoa-whoa-whoa-whoa. #
7:57:50 > 7:57:53What's that?! SHE LAUGHS
7:57:53 > 7:57:55'Then again, maybe not!'
7:57:55 > 7:57:57Just not interested!
7:57:57 > 7:58:00At least one of them had a good workout today,
7:58:00 > 7:58:01but the day's not over yet.
7:58:01 > 7:58:04It's time for the dreaded weigh-in!
7:58:04 > 7:58:08Fifi should weigh 4.5kg.
7:58:08 > 7:58:12At her heaviest, she weighed 9.3kg.
7:58:12 > 7:58:15At her last weigh-in, she was 7.8kg.
7:58:15 > 7:58:18It's been four weeks since her last weigh-in.
7:58:18 > 7:58:20So is she any lighter?
7:58:20 > 7:58:22Come on, Fifi!
7:58:22 > 7:58:23Oh!
7:58:23 > 7:58:25Exactly the same, 7.8.
7:58:25 > 7:58:28She's lost nothing. Are you disappointed?
7:58:28 > 7:58:32A little bit, but I suspect she is still stealing food
7:58:32 > 7:58:35- when I've been busy.- Fifi!
7:58:35 > 7:58:37Good luck next week.
7:58:37 > 7:58:40'I suppose the good news is she hasn't put any more on!
7:58:40 > 7:58:44'Next up, it's Deco's turn to hit the scales.'
7:58:44 > 7:58:47I don't know who is more nervous for this,
7:58:47 > 7:58:49Deco or you! THEY LAUGH
7:58:49 > 7:58:51Deco should weigh 35kg.
7:58:51 > 7:58:54At his heaviest, he weighed 53.5kg.
7:58:54 > 7:58:58At his last weigh-in, he was 43.1kg.
7:58:58 > 7:59:00But what does he weigh today?
7:59:00 > 7:59:03It's the moment of truth.
7:59:03 > 7:59:07He's trying to cheat and put half of his weight on the floor!
7:59:07 > 7:59:09The tension is killing me!
7:59:09 > 7:59:11- 40.8.- 40.8?!
7:59:11 > 7:59:14THEY CHEER Yes!
7:59:15 > 7:59:18So, Deco loses an impressive 2.3kg.
7:59:18 > 7:59:20Nice one!
7:59:20 > 7:59:25Well, these guys are finally on the road to a happy and healthy life.
7:59:25 > 7:59:28Here's to a fitter and slimmer Fifi and Deco!
7:59:28 > 7:59:30Thanks, Naomi!
7:59:30 > 7:59:33This Pet Fit Club is really starting to catch on.
7:59:33 > 7:59:34He is loving it!
7:59:34 > 7:59:37Working out all the time in his sweatbands!
7:59:37 > 7:59:39He's done two marathons this morning!
7:59:39 > 7:59:42He's worked hard! He's like his mum!
7:59:42 > 7:59:45Why don't you e-mail us? What is your pet's routine?
7:59:45 > 7:59:47What do you do? Do you exercise them?
7:59:47 > 7:59:49Do they sit there eating chips? Tell us!
7:59:49 > 7:59:51How do you stop giving them scraps?
7:59:51 > 7:59:53I give him scraps and it's naughty.
7:59:53 > 7:59:55And you give him chocolate!
7:59:55 > 7:59:58Still to come on today's Blue Peter...
7:59:58 > 8:00:00Stay tuned, we're about to reveal
8:00:00 > 8:00:04the winner of the Blue Peter plane competition.
8:00:04 > 8:00:07And Hollyoaks actor, Kieron Richardson,
8:00:07 > 8:00:09shares his favourite book with you.
8:00:11 > 8:00:15That aircraft you just saw is an amazing piece of technology.
8:00:15 > 8:00:18It uses the latest design and latest electronics to fly it.
8:00:18 > 8:00:22But it could be used for the BBC, so they could use aerial footage
8:00:22 > 8:00:26to cover things like the Olympics or football matches.
8:00:26 > 8:00:29We gave you the chance to name and design it,
8:00:29 > 8:00:30and you didn't let us down.
8:00:30 > 8:00:34We had over 1,500 entries and some fantastically creative designs
8:00:34 > 8:00:38and some brilliant suggestions for names.
8:00:38 > 8:00:40These are just a few of them.
8:00:40 > 8:00:44You can see all kinds of bright colours and different patterns.
8:00:44 > 8:00:46The dragon eye, the wings of a moth, there.
8:00:46 > 8:00:49I particularly like this one,
8:00:49 > 8:00:53which was sent in by Millie, and she's called hers 'Overview'.
8:00:53 > 8:00:56There was one entry that soared above the rest of the entries,
8:00:56 > 8:00:59And when the judges chose the winner,
8:00:59 > 8:01:01I went along to surprise her.
8:01:04 > 8:01:08You've joined me in a secret airfield location.
8:01:08 > 8:01:11Don't worry about the pilot costume, all will be clear.
8:01:11 > 8:01:15We're doing the final testing for the giant remote-control aircraft -
8:01:15 > 8:01:18bit of a mouthful, but not any more, thanks to a lucky Blue Peter viewer
8:01:18 > 8:01:22who won the competition to rename and redesign said aircraft.
8:01:22 > 8:01:25She's called Izzy. She's out there now
8:01:25 > 8:01:28and has no idea that she's won. Let's go tell her.
8:01:28 > 8:01:31Oh, and she has no idea I'm here, either.
8:01:31 > 8:01:33So, disguise ready...
8:01:34 > 8:01:36Chocks away.
8:01:36 > 8:01:39'Izzy is waiting patiently with her mum.

8:01:53 > 8:01:57Follow me over here. Let me show you something.
8:01:57 > 8:01:58'Izzy doesn't know
8:01:58 > 8:02:02'she's about to see her design on the remote control plane.'
8:02:02 > 8:02:05- Wow.- That's my design.
8:02:05 > 8:02:08- Pardon?- That's my design. - That's your design?- Yeah.

8:02:10 > 8:02:13- Oh, wow.- Well done.
8:02:13 > 8:02:17'Izzy impressed the judges with her use of vibrant colours
8:02:17 > 8:02:20'and her choice of name for the plane, the I Flyer.'
8:02:20 > 8:02:23What a great name for an aircraft. How do you feel
8:02:23 > 8:02:26seeing your design that was on paper, on the plane?
8:02:26 > 8:02:30It's really cool, and I didn't think that I would ever win.
8:02:30 > 8:02:34- How did you come up with the design? - I just sort of liked the colour range
8:02:34 > 8:02:38and I thought of a really groovy pattern and put them together.
8:02:38 > 8:02:40It looks amazing in the sky.
8:02:40 > 8:02:44- Would you like to see it fly? - Yeah.- Come on, then.
8:02:45 > 8:02:47Here we go.
8:02:48 > 8:02:51The newly named I Flyer takes to the skies.
8:02:51 > 8:02:53- It's amazing, isn't it?- Yeah.
8:02:53 > 8:02:57It's not just the name and colourful design that helped Izzy win.
8:02:57 > 8:03:02She also added a special message to the I Flyer's undercarriage.
8:03:02 > 8:03:03Hello, down there.
8:03:03 > 8:03:04"Hello, down there!"
8:03:06 > 8:03:08What made you put that?
8:03:08 > 8:03:12The thought it would be flying over people, so they could see it.
8:03:12 > 8:03:13It's a friendly plane.
8:03:13 > 8:03:17It says hello to you when it flies over. It's a great idea.
8:03:17 > 8:03:19The I Flyer isn't just for show.
8:03:19 > 8:03:22It has an on-board camera that will be used by the BBC
8:03:22 > 8:03:24to capture aerial footage.
8:03:25 > 8:03:29But before we go, we have one more little surprise for Izzy.
8:03:29 > 8:03:32You can't take away the real thing. I know you'd like to.
8:03:32 > 8:03:36But the guys at Southampton University made you your own I Flyer
8:03:36 > 8:03:39to thank you for designing such a brilliant plane

8:04:53 > 8:04:56- This week it was diving. Your host is Dan Walker.- Why are you laughing?
8:04:56 > 8:05:00She's our joint leader - singing star Laura.
8:05:00 > 8:05:04He's our other leader - strictly dancer Brendan.
8:05:04 > 8:05:08she's in need of points - former Emmerdale actress Adele.
8:05:08 > 8:05:11Just too cool for school - it's MC Romeo.
8:05:11 > 8:05:14She is closing in on the leaders - it's our own Helen.
8:05:14 > 8:05:18And tennis champion from last week - it's Barney.
8:05:18 > 8:05:21We had a Blue Peter one-two in the tennis last week.
8:05:21 > 8:05:24- Everyone feeling the tension for this event?- Yes.
8:05:24 > 8:05:27Today we have an event that requires core strength,
8:05:27 > 8:05:32unbelievable agility, and crazy amounts of courage.
8:05:32 > 8:05:35We're diving, with someone who knows his stuff.
8:05:35 > 8:05:39This is a silver medal from Athens owned by a man who was on Team GB,
8:05:39 > 8:05:41now a BBC commentator - Leon Taylor!
8:05:41 > 8:05:43CHEERING
8:05:43 > 8:05:47- What will you teach our motley crew? - The good news is, I won't ask you
8:05:47 > 8:05:52to go all the way to the highest diving board, the ten-metre board.
8:05:52 > 8:05:53That would be crazy,
8:05:53 > 8:05:57but I will ask you to dive from the three-metre platform
8:05:57 > 8:06:00and the person who hits the water closest to vertical
8:06:00 > 8:06:03with the smallest splash will receive the highest mark
8:06:03 > 8:06:07- from the judge, who unfortunately is me.- You have to impress Leon.
8:06:07 > 8:06:12- You need to learn how to survive the dive!- Yay! Come on!
8:06:13 > 8:06:16The first task seems easy. Jumping in off the side.
8:06:16 > 8:06:20After a bit more practice, up to the three-metre board
8:06:20 > 8:06:22the competition will be held from.
8:06:22 > 8:06:25And they soon find out it's not as easy as it looks,
8:06:25 > 8:06:29- especially for our leader, Brendan. - I'm being told what I'm doing wrong
8:06:29 > 8:06:33and I can't correct it, I'm trying hard to correct it.
8:06:33 > 8:06:36It's not correct. I'm getting annoyed with myself.
8:06:39 > 8:06:41So, competition time.
8:06:41 > 8:06:44Each athlete has two dives marked out of ten by Leon,
8:06:44 > 8:06:48and their highest score will count. In the first round,
8:06:48 > 8:06:51Helen was most impressive, scoring seven out of 10.
8:06:51 > 8:06:53At the other end was Brendan,
8:06:53 > 8:06:57who only managed a four. Here are the points after round one.
8:07:01 > 8:07:03Into the second round of dives now.
8:07:03 > 8:07:07Romeo was not able to improve on his first score, getting another six.
8:07:07 > 8:07:12- Laura, however, did improve, getting a six as well.- Yes!
8:07:12 > 8:07:16Next up, Adele, capable of higher than her first score of five.
8:07:16 > 8:07:18Could she deliver? Here's Jonathan Pearce.
8:07:18 > 8:07:20Adele, can she improve?
8:07:20 > 8:07:23Concentration, little bit of a spring!
8:07:23 > 8:07:25Ooh, a twitch off-centre
8:07:25 > 8:07:27and that's a good seven.
8:07:27 > 8:07:30Helen got seven on her first dive. She knows she has to improve.
8:07:30 > 8:07:34Good entry. Little bit to the side, but perfectly vertical entry.
8:07:34 > 8:07:38It's got an incredible eight from the judge!
8:07:38 > 8:07:40Barney also improved, getting a six,
8:07:40 > 8:07:44- leaving just Brendan to dive. - Come on, Brendan!- Go, Brendan!
8:07:44 > 8:07:48The pressure's really on, and he doesn't look comfortable, does he?
8:07:48 > 8:07:50This isn't his event! Not bad,
8:07:50 > 8:07:54but I think he just over-rotates there as he hits the water.
8:07:54 > 8:07:58And as he comes up, he'll want to know what mark he's got.
8:07:58 > 8:08:03Ooh, it's a four again. And look at the disappointment.
8:08:05 > 8:08:10With three scores of six, Romeo, Laura and Barney were tied for third.
8:08:10 > 8:08:13That meant each would get one more dive to impress Leon.
8:08:13 > 8:08:15Romeo's up first.
8:08:15 > 8:08:17Now that's a better starting stance,
8:08:17 > 8:08:22and that's a very good dive! If only he'd done that earlier.
8:08:22 > 8:08:24Laura's deciding dive.
8:08:24 > 8:08:26Sets, dives,
8:08:26 > 8:08:30flips over on entry! Well done, though.
8:08:30 > 8:08:31Here's Barney.
8:08:33 > 8:08:38And he went over slightly as he hit the water.
8:08:38 > 8:08:41And now it's over to our adjudicator, Leon Taylor,
8:08:41 > 8:08:44who's with Dan for the final scores.
8:08:44 > 8:08:49- Scores time, everybody. We'll start from the bottom up.- Yes!
8:08:49 > 8:08:53With four from the dive, Brendan, one point for you.
8:08:53 > 8:08:55Thanks, that's amazing.
8:08:55 > 8:08:59Three of you got the same score, so it went to sudden death.
8:08:59 > 8:09:00Judge Leon, who got what?
8:09:00 > 8:09:02So Laura ended up with two,
8:09:02 > 8:09:05- Barney three and Romeo four. - Well done, guys.
8:09:05 > 8:09:07Which means our top two positions -
8:09:07 > 8:09:11with a spectacular score of seven, Adele gets five points!
8:09:11 > 8:09:13LAUGHING, APPLAUSE
8:09:13 > 8:09:15And eight out of ten on her second dive
8:09:15 > 8:09:19- gets Lady Skelton a full bag of six points!- Yeah!
8:09:22 > 8:09:25You were happy with that result, weren't you?
8:09:25 > 8:09:28I'm embarrassed by how competitive I am.
8:09:28 > 8:09:31Your celebratory dance is something to behold.
8:09:31 > 8:09:33- Well done. - Sport brings out the worst in me.
8:09:33 > 8:09:36So you're gold on the leaderboard.
8:09:36 > 8:09:39But there are two weeks to go, so it could all change.
8:09:39 > 8:09:43- If you win, you get six points now. - I was there. I know what happened.
8:09:43 > 8:09:45- Stop it.- Over the summer,
8:09:45 > 8:09:48you'll probably want to relax and read your favourite book.
8:09:48 > 8:09:52I've read this one a million times, I never get bored of it. Ha-ha!
8:09:52 > 8:09:55Right. We are hoping as many of you as possible
8:09:55 > 8:09:58will get involved in a project called Story Lab.
8:09:58 > 8:10:01The challenge is to read six books over the summer.
8:10:01 > 8:10:05We have something to motivate you. Each two books you read,
8:10:05 > 8:10:07you get a sticker to complete your lab tab.
8:10:07 > 8:10:09To inspire you, some famous faces
8:10:09 > 8:10:12will tell you about their favourite stories.
8:10:12 > 8:10:15Here's Hollyoaks actor Kieron Richardson with Wind...
8:10:15 > 8:10:16in the Willows.
8:10:23 > 8:10:27One of my favourite books is The Wind In The Willows.
8:10:29 > 8:10:33This funny, exciting story begins with a character called Mole.
8:10:33 > 8:10:37He decides to give up on a day of boring spring cleaning and...
8:10:38 > 8:10:40He comes here, to the riverbank.
8:10:40 > 8:10:44Now Mole, who is usually a bit shy and quiet,
8:10:44 > 8:10:47soon becomes best friends with Ratty
8:10:47 > 8:10:50and they have a whole lot of adventures on the river.
8:10:50 > 8:10:54And Ratty's neighbour Toad, he loves boats as well.
8:10:54 > 8:10:58Well, until he decides he likes cars even more.
8:10:58 > 8:11:00Toad is a great friend, though,
8:11:00 > 8:11:02although he's an even greater poser.
8:11:12 > 8:11:15Not everyone is a friend of Ratty and Mole in the story.
8:11:15 > 8:11:18Weasels, stoats and foxes,
8:11:18 > 8:11:20well, they live in the Wild Woods
8:11:20 > 8:11:23and Ratty has warned Mole to stay well away.
8:11:25 > 8:11:28'But Mole ignores Ratty
8:11:28 > 8:11:32'and one evening, walking through the woods, trying to find Mr Badger,
8:11:32 > 8:11:35'Mole suddenly gets a horrible feeling.
8:11:35 > 8:11:37'He's not alone.'
8:11:43 > 8:11:48"Over his shoulder and indistinctly, he first thought he saw a face,
8:11:48 > 8:11:52"a little evil wedge-shaped face looking out from a hole.
8:11:52 > 8:11:55"When he turned to confront it, the thing had vanished.
8:11:55 > 8:11:57"He quickened his pace,
8:11:57 > 8:12:01"telling himself not to imagine things or there'd be no end to it.
8:12:01 > 8:12:05"He passed another hole, then another, and then yes!
8:12:05 > 8:12:06"No.
8:12:06 > 8:12:10"Yes! Certainly, a little narrow face with hard eyes
8:12:10 > 8:12:13"had flashed up for an instant from a hole
8:12:13 > 8:12:15"and it was gone.
8:12:15 > 8:12:20"He hesitated, raised himself up for an effort and strode on.
8:12:20 > 8:12:24"Then suddenly, and as if it had been so all the time, every hole,
8:12:24 > 8:12:28"and there were hundreds of them, seemed to possess a face,
8:12:28 > 8:12:33"coming and going rapidly, all fixing on him glances of malice and hatred,
8:12:33 > 8:12:37"all hard-eyed, evil and sharp."
8:12:44 > 8:12:48If you read the book, you'll see things get a lot worse for Mole.
8:12:48 > 8:12:51You'll also see...
8:12:51 > 8:12:55Ah. You'll see how he does find Badger after all.
8:12:55 > 8:12:59Now, Badger's old and wise...
8:12:59 > 8:13:01and he's also not a fan of unexpected guests
8:13:01 > 8:13:05so you'll have to meet him in the book.
8:13:08 > 8:13:12So even if I'm stuck inside my house or I've got loads of work to do,
8:13:12 > 8:13:16when all I want to do is go to the riverbank or the Wild Wood,
8:13:16 > 8:13:18I just open my book.
8:13:23 > 8:13:26I really hope Toad knows where he's going.
8:13:26 > 8:13:27He's right. With a good book,
8:13:27 > 8:13:31you can transport yourself to a different place or time.
8:13:31 > 8:13:34You may as well transport yourself to the Blue Peter website,
8:13:34 > 8:13:38bbc.co.uk/bluepeter. You'll find out about Story Lab there.
8:13:38 > 8:13:40Or pop along to your local library.
8:13:40 > 8:13:44You're so slick it scares me. We've asked you throughout the show
8:13:44 > 8:13:47to e-mail and let us know how you keep your pets fit
8:13:47 > 8:13:51because earlier, we talked fat pets. Adam got in touch to say,
8:13:51 > 8:13:55"I exercise my dog by giving him a little wrestle."
8:13:55 > 8:13:59OK. Does he have a little bikini on? Do wrestlers wear bikinis?
8:13:59 > 8:14:01Emily says, "Our hamster runs around in a ball
8:14:01 > 8:14:05- "and keeps crashing into things." - Anya says, "I have a rabbit.
8:14:05 > 8:14:09"I hug him everyday and let him into the garden to run around.
8:14:09 > 8:14:13"He's the right size." Megan says her cat once jumped on the table
8:14:13 > 8:14:16- and ate a whole chicken. He did that.- What?- Bones and all.
8:14:16 > 8:14:20Tilly says, "I love glove puppets. Barney the dog is cool." True!
8:14:20 > 8:14:23That's it for today. There's just time to tell you
8:14:23 > 8:14:25what's on next week's Blue Peter.
8:14:25 > 8:14:30# Unstoppable, I'm the champion, champion... #
8:14:30 > 8:14:33With a catchy song we're hearing everywhere,
8:14:33 > 8:14:36Clement Marfo and the Frontline will be in our studio.
8:14:36 > 8:14:39And I can hardly contain my excitement.
8:14:39 > 8:14:41With the release of The Dark Knight Rises,
8:14:41 > 8:14:46I get to show you Batman's brand-new wheels - all six of them.
8:14:46 > 8:14:50And we are going to be speaking to the brand-new Bat-inventor,
8:14:50 > 8:14:55Batmobile inventor, if you want to e-mail him.
8:14:55 > 8:14:57Our Big Olympic Tour continues on Saturday
