6:28:11 > 6:28:13and to celebrate that we're having...

6:28:41 > 6:28:44and tell us how did you get your badge.
6:28:44 > 6:28:46Now I get my own camera shot, hello!
6:28:46 > 6:28:49Now, last week I tried to show you what it's like to learn surfing.
6:28:49 > 6:28:52It's quite difficult - as you saw, I was falling off quite a lot.
6:28:52 > 6:28:55Now you're going to find out what it's like in part two
6:28:55 > 6:28:58when things get...a little trickier.
6:28:59 > 6:29:01I'm here in the mouth of the River Severn.
6:29:01 > 6:29:04This is where the sea meets the river
6:29:04 > 6:29:07and it's thanks to some interesting science happening right here
6:29:07 > 6:29:09that we get one of the natural wonders of the world,
6:29:09 > 6:29:11the Severn Bore.
6:29:12 > 6:29:15'It's a tidal surge that passes along the River Severn
6:29:15 > 6:29:18'and my challenge is to surf it.
6:29:18 > 6:29:22'Now, the bore happens because of the shape of the Severn Estuary.
6:29:22 > 6:29:24'It's a bit like a funnel that's constantly narrowing
6:29:24 > 6:29:29'and that funnelling thrusts tides up the river with extra strength.'
6:29:29 > 6:29:32But that's only part of the story, the bore isn't a daily event
6:29:32 > 6:29:35and it can only happen with a real power boost,
6:29:35 > 6:29:40and that boost comes from 240,000 miles up there.
6:29:40 > 6:29:43'From this thing, the Moon.
6:29:43 > 6:29:45'Now, that dictates tides on Earth.
6:29:45 > 6:29:49'The Moon has its own gravity, which has a powerful effect on the Earth.
6:29:49 > 6:29:53'As the Moon rotates around us, the Earth's seas are pulled towards it,
6:29:53 > 6:29:55'creating bulges in the sea levels.'
6:29:56 > 6:29:59However, on the occasion when the planetary movements mean that
6:29:59 > 6:30:02the sun and moon are in alignment, something really special happens.
6:30:02 > 6:30:06Their combined gravitational pull create extra-large bulges in the sea
6:30:06 > 6:30:10and that means that the tides are much more powerful than normal.
6:30:10 > 6:30:12When it happens, these super-strength tides
6:30:12 > 6:30:17are forced into the funnel-shaped estuary and along the River Severn,
6:30:17 > 6:30:20which, as you can imagine, creates a really powerful wave,
6:30:20 > 6:30:22like that one that's coming into shot now.
6:30:22 > 6:30:24Look at that, isn't that amazing?
6:30:24 > 6:30:27Now, this one is actually supposed to be quite low, quite small.
6:30:27 > 6:30:30Tomorrow, it's a biggie, and that's the one that I'm riding.
6:30:30 > 6:30:31I can't wait.
6:30:32 > 6:30:37'It's the next morning, bore day, so I'm getting some final tips
6:30:37 > 6:30:39'from my surf teacher, Andrew Cotton,
6:30:39 > 6:30:41'one of the world's best big wave surfers.'
6:30:41 > 6:30:44Take your time and make sure you do everything right...
6:30:46 > 6:30:49- So, hands, push, feet... - Feet on the centre of the board...
6:30:49 > 6:30:50- Turn, kneel, stand...- Yeah.
6:30:50 > 6:30:53You know, if you think you're getting shaky or wobbly,
6:30:53 > 6:30:56crouch down, don't stand up straight cos you'll fall off.
6:30:56 > 6:30:59'The bore is a single wave that just keeps going.
6:30:59 > 6:31:02'People come from around the world to surf it.
6:31:02 > 6:31:05'To be honest, I'll be happy if I can just stand up!
6:31:05 > 6:31:09'If I do fall, we've got boats on stand-by that can pass the wave
6:31:09 > 6:31:13'at certain points in the river, so I should get two more tries at it.'
6:31:13 > 6:31:15We've just heard the tide's on its way.
6:31:15 > 6:31:18It's just broken the corner, so we're now going to get into position.
6:31:18 > 6:31:20Oh, no, now I'm nervous.
6:31:26 > 6:31:27'Here goes!'
6:31:32 > 6:31:34- ANDREW:- Again, to me.
6:31:35 > 6:31:39'And, I'm up. This is going well, I'm on my knees.'
6:31:42 > 6:31:43'All I need to do now is stand up
6:31:43 > 6:31:47'and I'll have conquered the bore at my first attempt.
6:31:47 > 6:31:50'Oh, no, I didn't quite make it!'
6:31:52 > 6:31:56I was just about getting comfortable, knew where the board was going...
6:31:56 > 6:31:58I reckon next time I can stand up.
6:31:58 > 6:32:00'The bore waits for no-one.
6:32:00 > 6:32:02'I need to get back in the boat.
6:32:02 > 6:32:05'It's a race against time to get back ahead of the wave
6:32:05 > 6:32:07'and have another go.'
6:32:07 > 6:32:09So, we've just overtaken the wave,
6:32:09 > 6:32:10you can see it come round the corner now,
6:32:10 > 6:32:13and the idea is to get back on the board
6:32:13 > 6:32:15and this time try and stand up.
6:32:15 > 6:32:18Now that I've already been on one and I know what it feels like,
6:32:18 > 6:32:21I should be able to get on this and stand up.
6:32:21 > 6:32:22I'm going to try and do it a bit quicker.
6:32:22 > 6:32:24That looks big, that looks really big.
6:32:24 > 6:32:26Oh, my goodness, that looks big.
6:32:34 > 6:32:38'Oh, no, I've blown it straightaway, that is my second chance gone!'
6:32:40 > 6:32:43'Well, at least Andrew's having fun riding the bore!'
6:32:44 > 6:32:48I was too far forward on the board, rookie mistake.
6:32:48 > 6:32:52That was day one of surfing, I can't believe I did that. So frustrating.
6:32:52 > 6:32:54I'm going to do this, I promise I'm going to do it.
6:32:54 > 6:32:56We're going to catch up with the wave again
6:32:56 > 6:32:58and this is my last chance to do it.
6:33:01 > 6:33:03'As we jet off to catch back up with the wave,
6:33:03 > 6:33:05'this is my final chance to stand and ride the bore
6:33:05 > 6:33:08'or else I'll have failed my challenge.'
6:33:11 > 6:33:12Look, coming round the corner, it's huge.
6:33:13 > 6:33:16'Come on, Barney, remember your training.'
6:33:17 > 6:33:19'Here it comes.'
6:33:28 > 6:33:30'And...that's it.
6:33:30 > 6:33:32'It's over. I've failed the challenge.'
6:33:35 > 6:33:38'And the bore continues without me.
6:33:38 > 6:33:42'As the boat comes to pick me up, I'm devastated.'
6:33:45 > 6:33:48'But the boys in the boat can see just how disappointed I am
6:33:48 > 6:33:50'and are going to attempt to jump over the wave.
6:33:50 > 6:33:53'If it works, I might get one more go at this.'
6:33:56 > 6:34:00'And, we're over. They're giving it all they can to beat this wave.'
6:34:05 > 6:34:07'This really is last chance saloon.'
6:34:07 > 6:34:10- ANDREW:- OK, go!
6:34:11 > 6:34:14'Come on, Barney, paddle, paddle, paddle!'
6:34:16 > 6:34:18'Yes, I've caught it!
6:34:18 > 6:34:21'Come on, now, onto your knees.'
6:34:22 > 6:34:25'Right, this is it, I've got to try and stand.'
6:34:27 > 6:34:30'One foot... Oh...'
6:34:38 > 6:34:41I'm surfing the bore!
6:34:47 > 6:34:49We're done, we're done.
6:34:49 > 6:34:52'I might have only surfed for a few hundred metres, but you know what?
6:34:52 > 6:34:53'I did it.'
6:34:54 > 6:34:56So, so happy.
6:34:56 > 6:34:59That really was my last chance and when I missed it,
6:34:59 > 6:35:00I could have cried.
6:35:00 > 6:35:03I was that upset with myself cos I did exactly the same mistake.
6:35:03 > 6:35:05I was too far forward on the board.
6:35:05 > 6:35:08And I think they could see when I got in the boat how disappointed I was,
6:35:08 > 6:35:11and so the boys in the boat gave me an extra chance
6:35:11 > 6:35:14to get back on it and we did it!
6:35:14 > 6:35:15Yes!
6:35:17 > 6:35:20CHEERING AND APPLAUSE
6:35:21 > 6:35:23- Thank you very much.- Yes!
6:35:23 > 6:35:25I had so much fun, I can't tell you how disappointed I was
6:35:25 > 6:35:28when I didn't make that last ride, but thanks to the boys in the boat,
6:35:28 > 6:35:31they gave me another chance. Brilliant. Thank you, boys.
6:35:31 > 6:35:33And thank you to Andrew Cotton - you are slightly insane,
6:35:33 > 6:35:35but you're amazing and I'm stoked, cheers.
6:35:35 > 6:35:37- We're so proud of you. - Thank you!- You did so well.
6:35:37 > 6:35:38You smashed it. Well done.
6:35:38 > 6:35:41One of the problems when you watch surfing is it looks
6:35:41 > 6:35:43so much easier than I imagine it actually is.
6:35:43 > 6:35:44Oh, Radzi, so true.
6:35:44 > 6:35:47Funny you say that, Barney Harwood, cos we've got a challenge for you,
6:35:47 > 6:35:50- courtesy of the indoor surfing simulator.- That's what this is.
6:35:50 > 6:35:53- Uh-oh!- Yes, Barney, you're going to be stepping up their first.
6:35:53 > 6:35:56You've each got to last on that moving surfboard as long as you can.
6:35:56 > 6:35:57Off you go, my friend.
6:35:57 > 6:35:59I want one! RADZI LAUGHS
6:35:59 > 6:36:00Well, you're going to get to try one now.
6:36:00 > 6:36:02Barney's been training for weeks
6:36:02 > 6:36:04leading up to that surfing challenge.
6:36:04 > 6:36:05Don't step it up, I'll fall off.
6:36:05 > 6:36:08- So he is the favourite going into this. Are you balanced?- No.

6:36:17 > 6:36:20He's looking nice, like cashmere, coursing through those waves,
6:36:20 > 6:36:22laughing in the face of the Hawaiian surf.
6:36:22 > 6:36:24Changing direction on me? That's cheating!
6:36:24 > 6:36:26There he is, look at those shoulder shimmies.
6:36:26 > 6:36:29That's just like Barney Harwood dancing. He's dancing!

6:36:55 > 6:36:57They know how to balance, groove.
6:36:57 > 6:36:59Lindsey's a skier, she knows exactly what she's doing.
6:36:59 > 6:37:01She really does and she's making light work of this one.
6:37:01 > 6:37:04I've a feeling it's got a bit choppier in the water
6:37:04 > 6:37:06and if she can hold this one, 15 seconds...
6:37:06 > 6:37:08SHE SCREAMS Oh, well done, well done...

6:37:30 > 6:37:32to have done a challenge on the water
6:37:32 > 6:37:34cos you might remember that a few months ago,
6:37:34 > 6:37:37Radzi and I did the Henley Regatta rowing race.
6:37:37 > 6:37:39And we didn't do it on our own because we had the reigning
6:37:39 > 6:37:42European, world and Olympic champion, Helen Glover,
6:37:42 > 6:37:45and recently, Barney gave her a very special surprise.
6:37:45 > 6:37:46- That's mine.- Hee-hee-hee!
6:37:47 > 6:37:49'When it comes to rowing coxless pairs,
6:37:49 > 6:37:52'there's no-one more qualified than Helen Glover
6:37:52 > 6:37:55'as Lindsey and Radzi found out when she put them through their paces
6:37:55 > 6:37:57'for their rowing challenge.'
6:37:57 > 6:37:59Well, Lindsey was leading the whole way down
6:37:59 > 6:38:01and in the last 20 straights, 20 metres,
6:38:01 > 6:38:03Radzi had a really good push to the line.
6:38:03 > 6:38:07'As well as being a Blue Peter mentor, she's a world record holder
6:38:07 > 6:38:10'and gold medallist at the London 2012 Olympics.'
6:38:10 > 6:38:13- COMMENTATOR:- Great Britain, into the record books.
6:38:13 > 6:38:15Great Britain are Olympic champions
6:38:15 > 6:38:19and it couldn't go to two more worthy, worthy women.
6:38:19 > 6:38:22'She's been awarded an MBE and recently became the first
6:38:22 > 6:38:26'British rower to hold all four world rowing titles at the same time.
6:38:26 > 6:38:30'So I'm here to surprise her at BBC Sport HQ.'
6:38:30 > 6:38:33(She has no idea we're here.)
6:38:34 > 6:38:36'When Helen finishes her interview,
6:38:36 > 6:38:38'I get into position and wait for my cue.'
6:38:38 > 6:38:40It was a great year, we managed to...
6:38:40 > 6:38:42I managed to win my first world title.
6:38:42 > 6:38:45Can you think of anything better than a gold medal around your neck?
6:38:45 > 6:38:47For me, I can't see anything better,
6:38:47 > 6:38:50it's what I would always aspire to dream for.
6:38:50 > 6:38:53I know everyone has their different dreams, but, for me,
6:38:53 > 6:38:57that's definitely a kind of a no-brainer as to what I worked for.
6:38:57 > 6:39:00- Are you sure there's nothing better than an Olympic gold medal?- Hi.
6:39:00 > 6:39:02- Hello.- Hi, Helen, how are you doing?

6:39:32 > 6:39:35- She's awesome.- We love Helen. - Do you know what?
6:39:35 > 6:39:36If you look up "champion" in the dictionary,
6:39:36 > 6:39:38there'll be a picture of Helen Glover, I bet.
6:39:38 > 6:39:39- A legend.- Absolutely.
6:39:39 > 6:39:41Now, if we're talking about champions,

6:39:47 > 6:39:48Lots of pictures.
6:39:48 > 6:39:51You're creative every week and we stick them on our big badge wall.
6:39:51 > 6:39:53Thank you so much for getting in touch.
6:39:53 > 6:39:54Let's talk about Katie's first.
6:39:54 > 6:39:55This is from last week.
6:39:55 > 6:39:58The show where we tried to attempt a Guinness World Record
6:39:58 > 6:40:01for the most amount of people gunged in three minutes, and we did it...
6:40:01 > 6:40:02- Yes!- ..at 59 people.
6:40:02 > 6:40:04Just to say, I'm not proud of this whatsoever -
6:40:04 > 6:40:05I carry it with me all the time -
6:40:05 > 6:40:08there is the Guinness World Record with my name on it.
6:40:08 > 6:40:10Katie, thank you so much, that was...fabulous.
6:40:10 > 6:40:12Katie, you are amazing, and do you know who else is amazing?
6:40:12 > 6:40:14May from Surrey.
6:40:14 > 6:40:16Now, this is her second bit of post.
6:40:16 > 6:40:19Check it out, it's kind of an origami box thing that opens up
6:40:19 > 6:40:20and you've got all...
6:40:20 > 6:40:22- Oh, Iggy's chilling out... - Want me to grab Iggy?

6:40:25 > 6:40:28Thank you very much for that, May. Silver Badge is on its way to you.
6:40:28 > 6:40:30And on May's masterpiece is a Green Badge,
6:40:30 > 6:40:33something that was won by Francesca who's ten.
6:40:33 > 6:40:35Feast your eyes on that lovely work of art, there...
6:40:35 > 6:40:38- It's amazing, isn't it? - ..made just from recycled goods.
6:40:38 > 6:40:39Well done, Francesca.
6:40:39 > 6:40:41A massive thank you to anyone who sent us post.
6:40:41 > 6:40:43We love receiving all of your mail,
6:40:43 > 6:40:45and also a big thank you to you if you entered our
6:40:45 > 6:40:47Tim Peake Mission Patch competition.
6:40:47 > 6:40:52Now, the deadline for that is Friday 26th September at 12 noon.
6:40:52 > 6:40:53So, if you entered, thank you,
6:40:53 > 6:40:56but also keep watching to find out who our winner is.
6:40:56 > 6:40:58You love getting in touch, so much so,
6:40:58 > 6:41:00that we've had so many applications for the Sport Badge 2014.
6:41:00 > 6:41:02So, to honour your sporting success,
6:41:02 > 6:41:04we've got a very special weather report now
6:41:04 > 6:41:07with BBC Breakfast's very own loveliest person in telly,
6:41:07 > 6:41:08Carol Kirkwood.
6:41:08 > 6:41:10Thanks, Barney.
6:41:10 > 6:41:12Well, high pressure is well and truly building
6:41:12 > 6:41:13across the country today.
6:41:13 > 6:41:16As you can see, more or less across the whole of the UK,
6:41:16 > 6:41:18it's raining Sport Badges.
6:41:18 > 6:41:20So, starting off on the south coast of England,
6:41:20 > 6:41:23here children have been encouraging friends and family
6:41:23 > 6:41:27to join in different kinds of sporting activities.
6:41:27 > 6:41:30Some sports, they haven't participated in before.
6:41:30 > 6:41:33So, looking at Essex first of all, it's been a cold, frosty,
6:41:33 > 6:41:37icy start to the day as Nilinya has encouraged her brother Nilain
6:41:37 > 6:41:39to take up figure skating, and it looks like it's going to
6:41:39 > 6:41:42remain pretty cool here for the next wee while.
6:41:42 > 6:41:43In Lincolnshire,
6:41:43 > 6:41:47here Evie has persuaded her friend Josie to take up paddleboarding.
6:41:47 > 6:41:49Ideal conditions - windy on the coast,
6:41:49 > 6:41:53warm inland and staying largely dry, although at times there will be
6:41:53 > 6:41:56a wee bit more cloud, but that shouldn't be any problem.
6:41:56 > 6:41:59For Wales in Welshpool, Eva and her friends have taken up hockey.
6:41:59 > 6:42:04Again, ideal conditions - not too hot, not too cold and not too windy.
6:42:04 > 6:42:07Neither is it too windy in Northern Ireland, in Bangor,
6:42:07 > 6:42:10where Adam and his brother Daniel have taken up tennis.
6:42:10 > 6:42:12So if you have to run around the courts after the ball
6:42:12 > 6:42:15if you're not too good, Daniel, then you're set fair.
6:42:15 > 6:42:18But it sometimes can be very windy in Scotland,
6:42:18 > 6:42:20particularly so in the Northern Isles.
6:42:20 > 6:42:23For Rowan and her friend Millie who have taken up netball,
6:42:23 > 6:42:25well, today it's not going to be that windy,
6:42:25 > 6:42:28in fact, it's going to be pretty nice.
6:42:28 > 6:42:31Again, variable amounts of cloud, some sunny spells as well.
6:42:31 > 6:42:35But not just the pressure but also the attitude is high across Norwich,
6:42:35 > 6:42:40Stoke, and also Devon, as climbing has proved to be very popular.
6:42:40 > 6:42:42And talking of very popular sports,
6:42:42 > 6:42:45so has football, athletics and tennis,
6:42:45 > 6:42:48right the way across the UK.
6:42:48 > 6:42:50So, how's it looking for this weekend?
6:42:50 > 6:42:55Well, we anticipate hundreds more applications coming flooding in
6:42:55 > 6:42:58as the forecast for the weekend is set fair
6:42:58 > 6:43:01if you're taking part in any sporting activities.
6:43:01 > 6:43:05And that's it for the Blue Peter Sport Badge weather forecast.
6:43:05 > 6:43:07- Barney.- Carol, that was amazing, thank you so much.
6:43:07 > 6:43:10I want to be a weather person just like you, so inspiring.
6:43:10 > 6:43:12We've been talking about the Blue Peter Sport Badge 2014.
6:43:12 > 6:43:14There's another badge I'd like to talk about
6:43:14 > 6:43:16cos you've been on Blue Peter before,
6:43:16 > 6:43:18but you've never done a BP Sport Badge 2014 weather report.
6:43:18 > 6:43:23So, that means you have earned your very own Blue Peter Silver Badge.
6:43:23 > 6:43:25Carol, a round of applause for you as you wear it with pride.
6:43:25 > 6:43:26- Thank you!- Thanks.
6:43:26 > 6:43:29- CHEERING AND APPLAUSE - Wow, thank you very much, Barney.
6:43:29 > 6:43:31Can I wear that next to my other one? It's gorgeous.
6:43:31 > 6:43:32Of course.
6:43:32 > 6:43:34Wear it with pride. And you've earned it, well done.
6:43:34 > 6:43:36Thank you.
6:43:36 > 6:43:37Oh, we love Carol
6:43:37 > 6:43:40and we've got even more exciting news about the Sport Badge
6:43:40 > 6:43:42because the application deadline was going to be
6:43:42 > 6:43:45next Tuesday 30 September, but good news alert,
6:43:45 > 6:43:48we have extended that for an entire month... Hi.
6:43:48 > 6:43:51- Hi.- ..for you to go out there and get applying for your Sport Badge,
6:43:51 > 6:43:52you've still got more time.
6:43:52 > 6:43:55It's now been extended to 31 October.
6:43:55 > 6:43:57For all the details you need to know,
6:43:57 > 6:43:58just jump onto the Blue Peter website
6:43:58 > 6:44:01and if you want to get inspired, if you want to find a sport
6:44:01 > 6:44:04that might inspire you, then just click on the Get Inspired link.
6:44:04 > 6:44:07I'm loving having Iggy back in the studio, and if you look
6:44:07 > 6:44:09at her collar, you'll see she's in training to be a guide dog -
6:44:09 > 6:44:12a dog who can help people who are visually impaired or blind,
6:44:12 > 6:44:13but there are other assistance dogs
6:44:13 > 6:44:16who can help people with different disabilities,
6:44:16 > 6:44:18as I found out when I went to meet my new friend Marcus
6:44:18 > 6:44:19and his friend Ivan.
6:44:20 > 6:44:22'This is Marcus...
6:44:22 > 6:44:24'His sister, Marianne...
6:44:24 > 6:44:25'Mum, Sarah...
6:44:25 > 6:44:27'And Dad, Jeremy.
6:44:27 > 6:44:30'And this is the most recent member of the family, Ivan.'
6:44:30 > 6:44:32- Hey, guys, how you doing?- Hello, Barney, how are you?- Hi, Barney.
6:44:32 > 6:44:34- Very well.- Really...good.
6:44:34 > 6:44:36Good, that's good to hear, thank you for having me in your house
6:44:36 > 6:44:38and meeting this guy in the middle.
6:44:38 > 6:44:40Now, Ivan might look like an ordinary family pet,
6:44:40 > 6:44:42but actually, he's got a very important job to do.
6:44:42 > 6:44:44Haven't you?
6:44:44 > 6:44:47'Ivan is a working dog, just like guide dogs or hearing dogs,
6:44:47 > 6:44:49'and he helps Marcus to do everyday things
6:44:49 > 6:44:51'that we might take for granted.'
6:44:53 > 6:44:55'That's because Marcus has autism,
6:44:55 > 6:44:58'which affects how he understands the world around him.
6:44:58 > 6:45:01'People with autism can find it hard to make friends,
6:45:01 > 6:45:02'to feel OK about new situations,
6:45:02 > 6:45:05'or to deal with things that are difficult or scary.'
6:45:07 > 6:45:08And that's where Ivan comes in.
6:45:08 > 6:45:11It's Ivan's job to help Marcus when he needs a bit of support
6:45:11 > 6:45:13- and he's cool, isn't he?- (Yeah.)
6:45:13 > 6:45:14(I like him.)
6:45:16 > 6:45:19What can you tell me about Ivan and how he helps you?
6:45:19 > 6:45:23Well, when I get sad, he... He lies down under me.
6:45:23 > 6:45:26Now, every dog knows a good trick, what about Ivan,
6:45:26 > 6:45:28does he know some cool tricks?
6:45:28 > 6:45:31- Yeah, he knows loads.- Yeah...
6:45:31 > 6:45:34- He can do a spin.- He can go over. - Yeah, he can do a spin?
6:45:34 > 6:45:37- Good boy!- He can do a rest.
6:45:37 > 6:45:39I've heard about them, what's "a rest", what does "a rest" mean?
6:45:39 > 6:45:43- It means he can lie...- He can lie the bottom of his head on your lap.
6:45:43 > 6:45:45Rest.
6:45:45 > 6:45:48It's to help Marcus calm down.
6:45:48 > 6:45:50It's like having a really cool friend who looks after you
6:45:50 > 6:45:51- all the time, isn't it?- Yeah.
6:45:51 > 6:45:53'Ah-ah. Steady, Ives. Good boy.'
6:45:53 > 6:45:56And who's in charge of feeding Ivan, is that your job?
6:45:56 > 6:45:59- Yeah, sort of, and hers.- Sure.
6:45:59 > 6:46:01I think basically everyone does it.
6:46:01 > 6:46:04- And you're chasing it, whoo! - He looks really fit, doesn't he?
6:46:04 > 6:46:06- He's got good muscles. - I know, he's always...
6:46:06 > 6:46:08He runs so fast, he even runs faster than me!
6:46:08 > 6:46:09Good boy!
6:46:09 > 6:46:12So, we know what Ivan's like around the house,
6:46:12 > 6:46:14- we know quite a lot about him here... - Yeah.
6:46:14 > 6:46:16..and in a bit we're going to go to town, aren't we,
6:46:16 > 6:46:18- and he's going to show us what he does there.- Yeah.
6:46:18 > 6:46:21Yeah, in the shoe shop. In fact, I might get some different shoes.
6:46:21 > 6:46:24That's exciting, we can go shopping with Ivan, too, brilliant.
6:46:24 > 6:46:27In the meantime though, you're going to teach me how to trampoline, yeah?
6:46:28 > 6:46:32I should have gone like that. Knees... Yes?!
6:46:34 > 6:46:37Come on, Ives, are you ready? Come on, then.
6:46:37 > 6:46:40'Whenever the family goes out, Ivan has to wear a special blue jacket.'
6:46:40 > 6:46:42Want to do his straps up for me?
6:46:42 > 6:46:43'It has a handle and clips
6:46:43 > 6:46:45'so that he and Marcus can be attached together,
6:46:45 > 6:46:48'which keeps Marcus safe when they go out and about.'
6:46:48 > 6:46:49Will I shut the door?
6:46:51 > 6:46:53We're going to go and find the shoe shop. Come on, Ives.
6:46:53 > 6:46:55'So, we are walking around town now
6:46:55 > 6:46:58'and Ivan is helping Marcus with anything that might upset him.'
6:46:58 > 6:46:59Ready, Marcus?
6:46:59 > 6:47:00- I'm ready.- Forward.
6:47:00 > 6:47:02'Like busy traffic and noisy crowds -
6:47:02 > 6:47:04'they can make him feel worried or frightened.'
6:47:04 > 6:47:07OK, so we need to cross this road again, don't we?
6:47:07 > 6:47:10'With Mum's help, Ivan makes sure that Marcus can't run away
6:47:10 > 6:47:11'if he feels scared.'
6:47:11 > 6:47:14In we go, mind the door, Ives. Straight on.
6:47:14 > 6:47:15Good boy.
6:47:15 > 6:47:17Shall we do measuring?
6:47:17 > 6:47:18So, Marcus needs new shoes today
6:47:18 > 6:47:21and as you can see in the background there, he's enjoying himself
6:47:21 > 6:47:24cos this is the shoe shop that he likes to come back to,
6:47:24 > 6:47:26and a couple of years ago, Ivan showed him
6:47:26 > 6:47:29that having your feet measured for shoes wasn't a scary experience.
6:47:29 > 6:47:32So Ivan's doing the best job now of just keeping Marcus calm
6:47:32 > 6:47:33while he's waiting in the shop.
6:47:33 > 6:47:35I'm so happy that I've finally got them!
6:47:35 > 6:47:37Well, there you go, you see!
6:47:39 > 6:47:41- If we go back a couple of years... - Yeah.
6:47:41 > 6:47:44..and try and get Marcus in the same shop for the same experience,
6:47:44 > 6:47:47- how different would it have been? - We couldn't measure him at all.- No.
6:47:47 > 6:47:49- We never got him past that end of the shop, did we?- No.
6:47:49 > 6:47:51He is so much better with the dog.
6:47:51 > 6:47:53And I've noticed a difference in Ivan as well.
6:47:53 > 6:47:55At home, of course, he's playing, there's a ball there,
6:47:55 > 6:47:58he's chewing his toy, but he knows he's got a job to do, doesn't he?
6:47:58 > 6:48:00He's very aware of Marcus.
6:48:00 > 6:48:04He's so calm. You can see when he's playing he's quite energetic,
6:48:04 > 6:48:06which is what we need at home, but he's so calm here.
6:48:06 > 6:48:07Can we go now?
6:48:09 > 6:48:11'Next, it's time to head to one of Marcus's favourite places,
6:48:11 > 6:48:13'the Coventry Transport Museum.'
6:48:13 > 6:48:14Yay!
6:48:15 > 6:48:17Do we need any more big wheels?
6:48:18 > 6:48:21If I was to ask you how important Ivan is, what would you say?
6:48:21 > 6:48:24Oh, he... He's just everything.
6:48:24 > 6:48:26He changed our life in the first few weeks.
6:48:26 > 6:48:29It's not just Marcus, it's the whole family, isn't it?
6:48:29 > 6:48:32- Yes, we didn't go anywhere like this, all four of us.- Brilliant.
6:48:32 > 6:48:36We can't imagine life without him. We can't remember life before him.
6:48:36 > 6:48:39He is the difference between being locked up at home
6:48:39 > 6:48:42and actually being out and joining in with the world.
6:48:45 > 6:48:48Something wrong. Hey!
6:48:49 > 6:48:52So, as you can see, it's been an absolutely brilliant today.
6:48:52 > 6:48:54Marcus has had a fantastic time.
6:48:54 > 6:48:56He's been smiling, he's been dancing with his new shoes on
6:48:56 > 6:48:59and he's just gone through a museum having a great time,
6:48:59 > 6:49:01and it's all thanks to that brilliant dog, Ivan.
6:49:01 > 6:49:03It's amazing.
6:49:05 > 6:49:09'I think Marcus and Ivan are going to be friends for a very long time.'
6:49:10 > 6:49:11Do you know what?
6:49:11 > 6:49:15It's amazing to think that after all Iggy's training, that could be her -
6:49:15 > 6:49:18helping to change someone's life just like Ivan did for Marcus.
6:49:18 > 6:49:20- Amazing.- Go on, Iggy. - Go on, Iggy, indeed.
6:49:20 > 6:49:23Now though, it's time for a bit of Strictly Come Dancing...
6:49:23 > 6:49:25STRICTLY THEME PLAYS
6:49:25 > 6:49:27- ..cos over eight million viewers tuned in...- I like that!
6:49:27 > 6:49:29I like that as well. Exactly...
6:49:29 > 6:49:32..Which saw which celebrities would be paired with which dancers.
6:49:32 > 6:49:35- Flying the flag for CBBC, the legend that is Steve Backshall.- Yes!
6:49:35 > 6:49:38He is deadly, but is he deadly on the dance floor?
6:49:38 > 6:49:41We went behind the scenes to watch him training to find out.
6:49:48 > 6:49:50OK, where is your body, why are you going away from me?
6:49:51 > 6:49:54Bend your knees, bend your knees, bend your knees, that's it!
6:49:56 > 6:49:57- Oh, yeah, I got it!- Did you...?
6:49:59 > 6:50:01THEY LAUGH
6:50:01 > 6:50:04My whole world's just going around and around!
6:50:08 > 6:50:11And if Steve or any of the other celebrities need some top tips
6:50:11 > 6:50:12this year for Strictly,
6:50:12 > 6:50:14they need to look no further than these two.
6:50:14 > 6:50:19They're the Under-14 World Ballroom and Latin American champions,
6:50:19 > 6:50:20it's Glenn and Kayleigh!
6:50:20 > 6:50:23CHEERING AND APPLAUSE
6:50:29 > 6:50:33# Oh-oh-oh
6:50:33 > 6:50:36# Oh-oh-oh
6:50:36 > 6:50:39# Am I wrong?
6:50:39 > 6:50:42# For thinking out the box from where I stay?
6:50:44 > 6:50:46# Am I wrong?
6:50:46 > 6:50:50# For saying that I choose another way?
6:50:52 > 6:50:56# I ain't tryin' to do what everybody else doin'
6:50:56 > 6:51:01# Just cos everybody doin' what they all do
6:51:01 > 6:51:04# If one thing I know I'll fall, but I'll grow
6:51:04 > 6:51:08# I'm walking down this road of mine This road that I call home
6:51:08 > 6:51:11- # So am I wrong? - Whoo!
6:51:11 > 6:51:14# For thinking that we could be something for real?
6:51:16 > 6:51:17# Now am I wrong?
6:51:19 > 6:51:22# For tryin' to reach the things that I can't see?
6:51:24 > 6:51:26- # That's just how I feel - Whoa-oh
