:01:00. > :01:04.Let's talk about children in Need last week. It was an incredible

:01:04. > :01:14.night. It was. The aim of the game is to raise money for a fantastic

:01:21. > :01:26.charity. On the night, you raised a So many people have been involved,

:01:26. > :01:33.it was an amazing night. Not only that, but dancing, comedy,

:01:33. > :01:38.entertainment. One Direction kick the evening off. My favourite part

:01:38. > :01:42.of the evening, look at him, the Doctor. I was lucky enough to be

:01:42. > :01:47.there on the night and so Girls Aloud perform. They were brilliant.

:01:47. > :01:50.I was singing that song all night long. And there were loads of pre-

:01:50. > :01:54.recorded sketches including this, where Lord Sugar popped along to

:01:54. > :01:59.Albert Square to see the cast of EastEnders, to try to find a new

:01:59. > :02:03.apprentice. But it's not just the celebrities or yourselves wearing

:02:03. > :02:06.pyjamas, for the appeal for Blue Peter which had helped bump the

:02:06. > :02:10.total up, because we got some people here at media city in

:02:10. > :02:20.Salford who also wanted to put their pyjamas on and have a bit of

:02:20. > :02:37.

:02:37. > :02:43.a dance. There was only one song to I'm proud to say that a lot of the

:02:43. > :02:46.people you so they do belong to the Blue Peter office. It isn't just

:02:46. > :02:50.those guys who've been out and about in their pyjamas, you've been

:02:50. > :02:58.getting involved, too. We've been blown away by the amount of you

:02:58. > :03:01.who've supported this appeal. Loads of you across the country have been

:03:01. > :03:07.going pyjamas for Children in Need. We kicked it off with some after-

:03:07. > :03:11.school clubs in the studio, and that led U2 don your pyjamas in all

:03:11. > :03:16.sorts of ways. Jack went to his local bird park, and these guys in

:03:16. > :03:24.Glasgow held a big sale. Amy went scuba-diving. Grace went to the

:03:24. > :03:27.local library. Dancing for almost an hour meant Jade raised 358.70.

:03:27. > :03:34.Toby and Bronte created scarecrows in their pyjamas. Rebecca went

:03:34. > :03:39.shopping in the pyjamas. It really has been amazing. Helen wasn't

:03:39. > :03:43.joking when we said we'd been blown away with how you've got involved

:03:43. > :03:47.with this. So many photographs have been coming in. Burgess Hill School

:03:47. > :03:51.for girls said they had a fantastic day wearing pyjamas and holding a

:03:51. > :03:57.Topshop. They hope to raise up at 300. James went to his panto

:03:57. > :04:04.rehearsal at his amateur dramatics society in his pyjamas. He was a

:04:04. > :04:07.little bit embarrassed but he raised soup -- 76. Laurie, Rowan

:04:07. > :04:12.and Arnel went for a sponsored walk on Winchester Hill and raised

:04:12. > :04:17.almost 100. Let's draw our attention to Christmas, five weeks

:04:17. > :04:23.away. What are you looking forward to? Everything. The crackers, but

:04:23. > :04:27.presents, the family, the dancing, the tinsel. What are you looking

:04:27. > :04:31.forward to about Christmas? We will read as many e-mails as the can.

:04:31. > :04:35.love Christmas but I missed it last year. I will make up for its Bisset.

:04:35. > :04:39.One thing I will be glued to is the Christmas version of Top Of the

:04:39. > :04:42.Pops. We know you guys love McFly. They've been around for a decade,

:04:42. > :04:47.which is a relatively long time. They are as good now as they've

:04:47. > :04:50.ever been. They have turned out seven number one singles, they had

:04:51. > :04:57.Smash Hits like this one... What not the most classic pop songs ever

:04:57. > :05:03.written. Let's not forget this one as well. A bit of air guitar.

:05:03. > :05:07.sometimes pretend they are singing to me! They've got a new single out

:05:07. > :05:13.in the charts, a greatest hits album out as well, so they've got a

:05:13. > :05:17.busy schedule, but they agreed to answer your message board questions.

:05:17. > :05:25.We have lots of questions here from the lovely Blue Peter viewers. Are

:05:25. > :05:29.you ready? Yes. This one is from Scarlet clarinet Angel. She said,

:05:29. > :05:35.who came up for the idea for love is easy? You went to a shop and

:05:35. > :05:40.bought a ukulele and wrote the song. Part of it. You took it to the boys

:05:40. > :05:47.and said, what do you think of this? It got finished up. And we

:05:47. > :05:52.made it a mega-hit. Recorded and done within a matter of days.

:05:52. > :05:59.silky dingo. These on the real names! She says, who has the

:05:59. > :06:08.smelliest feet? BlueBeat by far. am a budding songwriter, what are

:06:08. > :06:12.your tips for inspiration? Movies. Life in general. The outdoors.

:06:12. > :06:16.question is, are you friends with any bands such as One Direction or

:06:16. > :06:20.The Wanted, or do you look at them as your rivals on people you never

:06:20. > :06:24.want to speak to? We are friends with One Direction, we wrote a few

:06:24. > :06:30.songs for them for their album. They came over, Danny produced one

:06:30. > :06:34.of the songs for their album as well. They are lovely guys. A bit

:06:34. > :06:42.of trivia. Andy and Max from The Wanted were once in a boy band

:06:42. > :06:50.together which supported us on tour. They were called Avenue. This is

:06:50. > :06:55.posted by Diamond I think. My question is, what pose would you do

:06:55. > :07:05.to represent yourself? Like Mo Farah has his, what would all of

:07:05. > :07:12.

:07:12. > :07:16.I haven't quite perfected mind yet. Mine is that, because a street

:07:16. > :07:21.dancer taught me a move but it was for the peak of my cab and I had it

:07:21. > :07:24.gone backwards. Mine is this want. I can't really do it that well.

:07:24. > :07:29.McFly are going to be performing an acoustic version of their new

:07:29. > :07:34.single at the end of the show. are now changing direction. We know

:07:34. > :07:38.that lots of you like to go to the circus. The high-wire artists, the

:07:38. > :07:43.trapeze acrobats, it's an amazing night. But have you ever wondered

:07:43. > :07:50.what it would be like to be part of a family who travel with a circus?

:07:50. > :07:57.Carina is 13 years old and that is what life is for her every day.

:07:57. > :08:01.I'm Carina, and 13 and this is what it's like being me. My family have

:08:01. > :08:05.performed with the circus since I was born. For the last three years

:08:05. > :08:10.I have joined them in the show. The most famous thing about any circus

:08:10. > :08:14.is the big top. Let me show you around the backstage. I'm going to

:08:14. > :08:18.show you where we change now, the dressing room. Sorry about the

:08:18. > :08:24.poster. My step dad thought it would be a joke. We are not

:08:24. > :08:28.actually toxic. It smells nice in there! This is what I'll be wearing

:08:28. > :08:33.for tonight's show. We share this dressing room at seven people. This

:08:33. > :08:43.is my jacket or when the people come in. And in here is my costume

:08:43. > :08:45.

:08:45. > :08:55.This is a massive globe where there are three motorbikes spinning all

:08:55. > :09:04.

:09:04. > :09:07.This is my caravan, this is where I live. I never live in a permanent

:09:07. > :09:13.house. This is the kitchen, that's the dining room and that's the

:09:13. > :09:17.living room. I will show you the favourite bit, that's my room.

:09:17. > :09:21.After the show I like to lay in bed and watch TV or go on my computer

:09:21. > :09:25.or listen to music. Sometimes my friends come over and we have

:09:25. > :09:28.sleepers. We have fun. Before I get ready for the show, I've just got

:09:28. > :09:35.time to answer some of your questions from the Blue Peter

:09:35. > :09:39.message board. What is the best part of living in the circus? The

:09:39. > :09:43.travelling around and I like performing and meeting new people.

:09:43. > :09:48.What advice would you give to someone thinking of starting a

:09:48. > :09:54.circus? Going to a circus school, they are good. You go there for a

:09:54. > :10:00.few years. Have you ever messed up while performing at the circus? Yes.

:10:00. > :10:06.I messed up and... I messed up a few days ago. I fell down bet that

:10:06. > :10:16.happens quite a lot. Everyone does mistakes. I'd better start getting

:10:16. > :10:22.

:10:22. > :10:32.This is my auntie and this is my ankle. We are back excited today,

:10:32. > :10:34.

:10:34. > :10:39.it's going to be a good crowd and Every circus has a ringmaster who

:10:39. > :10:49.introduces the other acts and keep things running on time. Norman is

:10:49. > :11:01.

:11:01. > :11:05.ours and has worked in the circus Thank you for spending the day with

:11:05. > :11:08.me. I hope you enjoyed seeing what it's like being me.

:11:08. > :11:12.I know she said she makes a few mistakes sometimes but look at what

:11:12. > :11:16.they are digging in the circus - they are incredible. Thank you for

:11:16. > :11:21.showing us what it was like to be you. Let's talk about the past year.

:11:21. > :11:24.It feels like only two minutes ago when we were taking pictures for

:11:24. > :11:28.the Blue Peter calendar, but here we are at the end of it. We will

:11:28. > :11:31.reveal to you the picture that is going to be for the month of

:11:31. > :11:36.December in the Blue Peter calendar. This ties in with a bit of a secret

:11:36. > :11:39.and a sneak peek for you. Helen and I have just returned from Lapland

:11:39. > :11:46.in Finland. We've recorded two Christmas Special shows for you. It

:11:46. > :11:49.was freezing. It was absolutely beautiful. One way to take

:11:49. > :11:53.photographs is to take them of scenery or landscapes. I thought

:11:53. > :11:57.because Lapland was so cold, it might be an idea to take it in

:11:58. > :12:02.black and white. Taking a picture of an apple on a table, it would be

:12:02. > :12:05.green and it would be quite boring. But if you were to take it in black

:12:05. > :12:13.and white, the Apple would be grey and have a shadow on it, a bit more

:12:13. > :12:17.atmosphere. That is what I tried to With black and white photography,

:12:17. > :12:21.because of the way it is contrasted, you can tell how freezing it was.

:12:21. > :12:25.But I'm a bit of a geek and I like to hang around a bit after the

:12:25. > :12:30.shoots. I spend a bit of time on my own and took another picture of

:12:30. > :12:33.this same landscape but at land - that night-time. It really is good

:12:33. > :12:37.fun to do. I'm so glad you got involved with this. If you'd like

:12:37. > :12:43.to print out your own version of the Blue Peter Callander, which has

:12:43. > :12:48.now completed, you can go to the The one thing I've loved about this

:12:48. > :12:51.is seeing all of your photographs as well. There's nothing better for

:12:51. > :12:55.a Blue Peter presenter than to come in on a Monday morning and to be

:12:55. > :12:59.handed photographs that you've taken over the weekend. Thank you

:12:59. > :13:06.for getting involved. Stay tuned in January, we got a special animation

:13:06. > :13:12.package for you as well. He's not a geek, he just disappears. He just

:13:12. > :13:15.disappeared with his camera. It's definitely worth it. If you have

:13:15. > :13:18.printed off at Callander and know any Americans, you probably have

:13:18. > :13:22.today marked on their because it is the fourth Thursday in November,

:13:22. > :13:26.which means it's Thanksgiving. Or a lot of Americans, it's a bigger

:13:27. > :13:30.deal than Christmas. If you've ever wondered what it's all about then

:13:30. > :13:40.you are in luck. We have all- American girl and Disney star Laura

:13:40. > :13:49.

:13:49. > :13:54.I am your Ram Elano -- Laura Merano. On the show I like nothing more

:13:54. > :14:00.than singing and playing the piano with my friend. But I am here to

:14:00. > :14:05.talk about my favourite day of the year, Thanksgiving! Come on, a

:14:05. > :14:12.scream with me! In America, Thanksgiving is a national holiday

:14:12. > :14:17.and is celebrated in style. It is a time when families meet up, and

:14:17. > :14:23.even start their Christmas shopping. My family absolutely love getting

:14:23. > :14:33.together on Thanksgiving but where did the Thanksgiving Straw restart?

:14:33. > :14:34.

:14:34. > :14:39.This American tradition has its roots in the UK, in Plymouth! The

:14:39. > :14:43.admirable McBride may be a pub but nearly 400 years ago, a group of

:14:43. > :14:49.English people known as the Pilgrim Fathers set sail on the Mayflower

:14:49. > :14:53.right here. They were unsatisfied with their life in England and

:14:53. > :14:59.decided to set sail to a relatively unknown continent to make a new

:14:59. > :15:08.life. This shows the direction they set sail, a don't know why they

:15:08. > :15:12.chose a prawn! This monument to the Mayflower is dedicated to the 102

:15:12. > :15:18.pilgrims who are crucial in creating the America we know today.

:15:18. > :15:23.I cannot believe American history started here! A year later, the

:15:23. > :15:33.Pilgrim Fathers gathered for his huge ceased to celebrate their

:15:33. > :15:36.

:15:36. > :15:40.first successful harvest and to thank God. -- a huge meal. I am now

:15:40. > :15:50.at a primary school in Plymouth where they are about to get a taste

:15:50. > :16:03.

:16:03. > :16:13.of this American tradition. What's This looks good. Does anybody want

:16:13. > :16:16.

:16:16. > :16:26.any pumpkin pie. Is it good? It is really nice? Some new pumpkin pie

:16:26. > :16:37.

:16:37. > :16:44.The do We have some fans of pumpkin It just remains for me to say...

:16:44. > :16:50.Happy Thanksgiving!! Happy Thanksgiving to everybody

:16:50. > :16:55.celebrates. I know a lot of people who just like to party. If you like

:16:55. > :17:01.party food, look no further than the Blue Peter website. Last week I

:17:01. > :17:05.should you have to make meringues with John, the champion of the

:17:05. > :17:14.Great British bake off. Lots of you said you had a go. Rihanna said she

:17:14. > :17:24.made little meringues, with pink icing in the middle, and she had a

:17:24. > :17:25.

:17:25. > :17:31.He got messy making them but they were delicious! Rabeeah said her

:17:31. > :17:40.mixture was a bit runny so she invented meringue cupcakes. That's

:17:40. > :17:46.what we like to see. Creativity. Matilda and Ella created turquoise

:17:46. > :17:51.meringues. We are glad you had a go. The recipe is still on the Blue

:17:51. > :17:58.Peter website. Have a look at what Barney is standing next to us. It

:17:58. > :18:03.is absolutely incredible. Before we talk about them, take a close look.

:18:03. > :18:08.Can you tell why they are unique? They are made entirely from PayPal.

:18:08. > :18:14.They Arpad of an exhibition called The First Cut in Manchester -- they

:18:14. > :18:23.are made entirely from the paper and they are part of an exhibition.

:18:23. > :18:27.They have used maps, A4 paper, atlases... This is Susan

:18:27. > :18:33.Stockwell's colonial dress. She has used maps to tell the story of

:18:33. > :18:38.Britain's colonial past. It took her three months to make. Look at

:18:38. > :18:42.the detail. That would have taken me nine days just to do that Rose.

:18:42. > :18:51.I know I am not supposed to have a favourite, but look at what Chris

:18:51. > :18:56.Jones has done. This is amazing. It is a motorbike made out a glossy

:18:56. > :19:01.magazine pages. He has also use some vintage encyclopaedias and

:19:01. > :19:06.given it varnished over the top to make it shiny, and it took him two

:19:06. > :19:12.months. It is just paper! You have to get close to this, it is what I

:19:12. > :19:15.like about art, it is quite personal. It is a single piece of

:19:15. > :19:22.paper and Peter Callesen has designed it to look like a mountain

:19:22. > :19:27.with the little man climbing over the top. Isn't it amazing! This is

:19:27. > :19:32.Nicola Dale's book, it took her 18 months to make it. One single book,

:19:32. > :19:37.that she has cut into different shapes. 31 artists from all over

:19:37. > :19:43.the world have been involved and one of them, Claire Brewster, is in

:19:43. > :19:47.the studio today. She has made these birds. Who better to teach me

:19:47. > :19:56.how to do this? Welcome to his studio. Let's talk about these

:19:56. > :20:01.How did you start? I have always worked with paper and one day I had

:20:01. > :20:06.a flash of inspiration, like a light bulb in the cartoons, and I

:20:06. > :20:12.started cutting out birds and then everybody loved them and the rest

:20:12. > :20:18.is history. That was ten years ago. I like the shadow, it brings it to

:20:18. > :20:22.life. It creates movement, that is the idea. You will be showing me

:20:22. > :20:32.how to make a more simple version of one of your birds with a

:20:32. > :20:36.Christmas twist. We are going to make a Christmas robins. The first

:20:36. > :20:39.thing you need to do is print out the template, which you can do on

:20:39. > :20:45.the Blue Peter website. You can print it onto any paper that will

:20:45. > :20:52.go through your home printer, obviously. This is just brown paper.

:20:52. > :21:00.The first thing you need to do is cut roughly around the bird. Why?

:21:00. > :21:05.It makes it easier to hold it while you are cutting. You do it on the

:21:05. > :21:14.inside. Yes, it makes it easier to cut the detail out. Once you have

:21:14. > :21:21.done that, you get your bird like this. I have one like this. You are

:21:21. > :21:27.so organised! The next thing to do is to start cutting the shapes out

:21:27. > :21:32.in the middle. The easiest way to do that is to take the scissors...

:21:32. > :21:41.Which we have lost... If we are doing this on the dining-table, mum

:21:41. > :21:49.will not be happy. You need to make sure there is something underneath.

:21:49. > :21:53.A bit of protection between you and your mum's pride and joy. It is

:21:54. > :22:03.quite fiddly. Do it slowly and carefully. I am able in a China

:22:04. > :22:05.

:22:05. > :22:14.shop. If once you have done that, it looks like this. That was easy!

:22:14. > :22:18.The next job is to cut carefully around the edges. Just like this. I

:22:18. > :22:24.can already see the reason why you have waited until the last minute

:22:24. > :22:27.to do this because it is quite fiddly. If you don't have any paper

:22:27. > :22:33.around the bird when you cut the inside out, it gets really

:22:33. > :22:41.difficult. And then you end up with a bird like this. To make it more

:22:41. > :22:46.Christmas see, we can attach a little red breast to him. You could

:22:46. > :22:50.use red paper and card and place it underneath. Yes. But you need to

:22:50. > :22:58.make sure the shape is slightly bigger than the bit you want to

:22:58. > :23:08.cover, otherwise you will not be able to stick it on. You might want

:23:08. > :23:14.

:23:14. > :23:22.to put some paper underneath. There it is. Own Robin repressed!

:23:22. > :23:32.If you want to make it more sparkly, you can add glitter -- 8 Robin ate

:23:32. > :23:43.

:23:43. > :23:48.I'll it is that simple. 8 Claire Where am keeping my fingers crossed

:23:48. > :23:53.that that big present is for me as well! Let us know what you are

:23:53. > :24:00.looking forward to for Christmas. We have lots of the e-mails. Best

:24:00. > :24:06.says, Dr Who. Helen from Hertfordshire says, I am excited

:24:06. > :24:10.about Christmas parties. George says Christmas dinner. Lauren is

:24:10. > :24:16.looking forward to spending time with her family. The Edel is

:24:16. > :24:19.looking forward to all her family coming out for dinner and

:24:19. > :24:25.decorating the Christmas tree. Ronan from Dublin says he loves

:24:25. > :24:29.going downstairs on Christmas Day and seeing all the presence. I hate

:24:30. > :24:36.that be because you are so nervous! Don't you do a Jumper competition

:24:36. > :24:41.at your house? Yes! So if you have any ideas of what I can put on my
