0:00:04 > 0:00:07Coming up, there's a feathery feeling on Blue Peter this week.

0:00:07 > 0:00:09Keep watching to see some very cute owls.

0:00:09 > 0:00:12Barney's feeling explosive as he learns how to blow up buildings,

0:00:12 > 0:00:13safely of course.

0:00:13 > 0:00:15And singing sensation Tich is going to be here

0:00:15 > 0:00:18performing for you. That's all on today's Blue Peter.

0:00:34 > 0:00:35CHEERING

0:00:35 > 0:00:37Hello!

0:00:37 > 0:00:39Yes! Well, the clocks have gone forward,

0:00:39 > 0:00:43- which means you have even longer to play out after your tea.- Yes!

0:00:43 > 0:00:46And someone who's definitely got a spring in her step is Emily

0:00:46 > 0:00:49who's made this fabulous 3D picture of flowers.

0:00:49 > 0:00:51- That is SO good. - In fact, we like it so much,

0:00:51 > 0:00:53it's going to take pride of place right there.

0:00:53 > 0:00:55I love it, Emily, thank you very much for sending us that.

0:00:55 > 0:00:58- Now, Barney's not here today.- Aww!

0:00:58 > 0:01:01- But don't worry, he's back next week!- Yeah!

0:01:01 > 0:01:02- I miss Barney, actually.- I... Do!

0:01:02 > 0:01:04No, I've got to admit, I do a little bit

0:01:04 > 0:01:07but don't worry, Radzi, we're about to see his little face.

0:01:07 > 0:01:08And that's because last week,

0:01:08 > 0:01:11Barney went to a block of flats just near the studios here

0:01:11 > 0:01:13to find the answer to a very difficult question.

0:01:13 > 0:01:18And that is, how do you blow up a 13-storey, 9,000 tonne building

0:01:18 > 0:01:22without damaging the houses around it, that are just metres away?

0:01:22 > 0:01:24The answer is, not very easily!

0:01:30 > 0:01:33The Falcon Court building in Manchester.

0:01:33 > 0:01:369,000 tonnes of concrete. And it's 35 metres high.

0:01:36 > 0:01:39It really is a huge part of the skyline here.

0:01:39 > 0:01:42When the tower block was built 40 years ago,

0:01:42 > 0:01:45it was a modern and exciting place to live.

0:01:45 > 0:01:46But in 2014, it's past its best,

0:01:46 > 0:01:49so the local council has decided to demolish it

0:01:49 > 0:01:51to make way for new, more modern homes.

0:01:51 > 0:01:53Yep, they're going to blow it up.

0:01:53 > 0:01:55But how do you demolish something so large

0:01:55 > 0:01:58while protecting the houses that are just metres from the blast?

0:01:59 > 0:02:02If you've every played with one of these,

0:02:02 > 0:02:06you'll know how just easy it is to make something fall over.

0:02:06 > 0:02:08Oops! Yeah.

0:02:08 > 0:02:09But if it goes THAT wrong,

0:02:09 > 0:02:14it could have disastrous consequences for the houses around it.

0:02:14 > 0:02:16Ah! That's better.

0:02:16 > 0:02:21So a successful demolition should fall neatly in on itself,

0:02:21 > 0:02:24like these Dundee tower blocks did back in 2011.

0:02:24 > 0:02:28But not all demolitions are executed as precisely as that.

0:02:28 > 0:02:31In 2009, the demolition of this Turkish factory

0:02:31 > 0:02:33went dramatically wrong.

0:02:34 > 0:02:37Martin Smith is the man in charge of the safety

0:02:37 > 0:02:38of the Falcon Court demolition.

0:02:38 > 0:02:40Do you like what I've done with the place?

0:02:40 > 0:02:42I do, yeah, it's really good.

0:02:42 > 0:02:45it looks like we're in what used to be someone's home.

0:02:45 > 0:02:47It would. This would have been one person's flat

0:02:47 > 0:02:50with a doorway just behind us here.

0:02:50 > 0:02:52You can see, we've started our pre-weakening process

0:02:52 > 0:02:55to remove some of the structural elements of the building.

0:02:55 > 0:02:58The explosives do some of the work, but by pre-weakening it,

0:02:58 > 0:02:59that does the rest.

0:03:01 > 0:03:03The demolition team have drilled holes in the walls

0:03:03 > 0:03:06that are supporting the weight of the building, to make it less stable.

0:03:08 > 0:03:11The team will then place explosives on three floors,

0:03:11 > 0:03:14blasting away walls that help keep the building standing.

0:03:14 > 0:03:16The idea being that, once they go,

0:03:16 > 0:03:19the already pre-weakened building should fall in on itself,

0:03:19 > 0:03:22leaving a neat pile of rubble.

0:03:22 > 0:03:24It's three weeks before demolition day

0:03:24 > 0:03:27and the team are about to carry out a test blast on one piece of wall.

0:03:27 > 0:03:29I would love to see some explosives going in.

0:03:29 > 0:03:31Could you do that for us?

0:03:31 > 0:03:34John is an expert in blasting big buildings.

0:03:34 > 0:03:38This is the explosive. It is filled with PETN, the white powder.

0:03:38 > 0:03:40What does PETN stand for?

0:03:40 > 0:03:42Pentaerythritol tetranitrate.

0:03:42 > 0:03:44Did you write that down?

0:03:44 > 0:03:46We are going to put one length of purple.

0:03:46 > 0:03:51We will make the weak spots and this is the just tool to take it out.

0:03:51 > 0:03:52All yours.

0:03:52 > 0:03:54By carrying out a test blast, John will be able to see

0:03:54 > 0:03:58if his plans for the overall demolition are accurate.

0:03:58 > 0:04:01They look a bit like the pick and mix sweets at the cinema.

0:04:01 > 0:04:03But I wouldn't eat one of those, though.

0:04:03 > 0:04:05On the demolition day itself,

0:04:05 > 0:04:08using too little explosive might not topple the tower block.

0:04:08 > 0:04:11Too much, and it might explode everywhere,

0:04:11 > 0:04:14causing damage to the surrounding buildings.

0:04:14 > 0:04:16What do you want to see when we come back into the building?

0:04:16 > 0:04:19We'll give it ten minutes after the explosive's gone off

0:04:19 > 0:04:21to let the proverbial dust settle.

0:04:21 > 0:04:23But we expect to see a big bag of the concrete

0:04:23 > 0:04:25and when we cut it open,

0:04:25 > 0:04:27there'll be a big section of the wall missing

0:04:27 > 0:04:30and the concrete that was there is sat in the bottom of the bag.

0:04:30 > 0:04:35It's time for us to leave and see if John has got his sums right.

0:04:35 > 0:04:38If you see anything in that period when I'm quiet

0:04:38 > 0:04:41that may need to stop, shout, "Stop, Stop!" OK?

0:04:41 > 0:04:43Are we all ready? Good to go?

0:04:43 > 0:04:44Fire now.

0:04:44 > 0:04:47EXPLOSION

0:04:47 > 0:04:49I wasn't expecting that!

0:04:49 > 0:04:50That was louder than I expected.

0:04:50 > 0:04:53You didn't give me a warning about that one, did you?

0:04:53 > 0:04:56After a few minutes, it's safe to go back in and have a look.

0:04:56 > 0:05:00That wall has effectively gone now, hasn't it, what was there before?

0:05:00 > 0:05:03So how do you know now how successful the blast was?

0:05:03 > 0:05:05We'll cut open the geotextile

0:05:05 > 0:05:10and clip open the chain-link fence beneath and when the debris spills

0:05:10 > 0:05:15out, it will tell us the explosives have done the job as we wanted.

0:05:15 > 0:05:17Would you call that a successful test?

0:05:17 > 0:05:19I would call that very successful.

0:05:21 > 0:05:23Three weeks on, it's demolition day.

0:05:23 > 0:05:26The finishing touches are being made to the building

0:05:26 > 0:05:28while teams from the local council

0:05:28 > 0:05:31are evacuating the homes of local residents.

0:05:31 > 0:05:34It's not because the building's going to fall on top of theirs,

0:05:34 > 0:05:35it's just a precaution,

0:05:35 > 0:05:37to make sure they're safe and away from the blast

0:05:37 > 0:05:40but if that building falls down the way it should do, which it will,

0:05:40 > 0:05:41it's just going to drop.

0:05:41 > 0:05:45At a safe distance away, there's an excited crowd watching

0:05:45 > 0:05:47and I'm being allowed inside the exclusion zone.

0:05:47 > 0:05:49I'm actually getting really excited.

0:05:49 > 0:05:51Everything's moving pretty quickly now.

0:05:51 > 0:05:54I'm with Martin and John, ready for when they push the button

0:05:54 > 0:05:56to bring the block down.

0:05:56 > 0:05:58Century 9, receiving, over?

0:05:58 > 0:06:00'Loud and clear.'

0:06:00 > 0:06:03And it's not just the homes we have to worry about.

0:06:03 > 0:06:05We've placed two cameras at the base of the building.

0:06:05 > 0:06:09Let's hope John's got this one right, or they might get crushed.

0:06:10 > 0:06:13Ten, nine, eight,

0:06:13 > 0:06:16seven, six, five...

0:06:16 > 0:06:21CROWD JOIN IN: Four, three, two, one!

0:06:21 > 0:06:23Fire now!

0:06:23 > 0:06:26BOOM!

0:06:27 > 0:06:29WHOOPING

0:06:37 > 0:06:39Have you ever seen anything like that?!

0:06:39 > 0:06:44Look at the dust cloud coming over here. Wow! That's incredible!

0:06:44 > 0:06:45Four years to build it.

0:06:45 > 0:06:47Four seconds to demolish it.

0:06:47 > 0:06:51You want to see an action replay, don't you? Check this out.

0:06:51 > 0:06:54MUSIC: "Push The Button" by The Chemical Brothers

0:06:54 > 0:06:56# Push the button! #

0:07:09 > 0:07:11That was brilliant!

0:07:11 > 0:07:12Here comes the dust.

0:07:14 > 0:07:17HE PURSES LIPS AND BLOWS

0:07:17 > 0:07:18Oh, I'm so jealous! That looked like

0:07:18 > 0:07:21a really exciting day for Barney, the crew and the local community,

0:07:21 > 0:07:24and if you saw one of cameras there on the day

0:07:24 > 0:07:26that got covered in rubble, this is it. It survived.

0:07:26 > 0:07:29How good is that? Now follow me this way, it's the Big Badge Wall.

0:07:29 > 0:07:32As usual, it's covered in your brilliant post.

0:07:32 > 0:07:34Thanks very much for sending it in.

0:07:34 > 0:07:37I had to mention this from Clifton in Chesterfield.

0:07:37 > 0:07:41It's a book and it's got Blue Peter, it's got absolutely everything in it

0:07:41 > 0:07:44and even at the very back, there is a CBBC Quiz.

0:07:44 > 0:07:48- We've got to do that later. - We will do that later on!

0:07:48 > 0:07:53Nia is from Cardiff and we are all aboard the Blue Peter ship. Aye-aye!

0:07:53 > 0:07:56We love it. This is from Charlotte, she's ten and she's done us three

0:07:56 > 0:07:59but Barney's got a little camera, and if you look carefully

0:07:59 > 0:08:01on the top left, there's an owl.

0:08:01 > 0:08:04There's going to be more from those later.

0:08:04 > 0:08:05I like it. I love this from Ella.

0:08:05 > 0:08:09She has made all of the replicas of the Blue Peter badges.

0:08:09 > 0:08:11But we can't send Ella a Blue Peter badge.

0:08:11 > 0:08:13Why? because she didn't include her address!

0:08:13 > 0:08:16If you do send us post, make sure you include your address.

0:08:16 > 0:08:18Someone who did include their address was Daniel.

0:08:18 > 0:08:19This is brilliant.

0:08:19 > 0:08:22He's done a Blue Peter Bot, Barney's controlling the robot

0:08:22 > 0:08:24there's a poem with it, it's brilliant,

0:08:24 > 0:08:26and he got a silver badge for it

0:08:26 > 0:08:29because it's your second piece of great work.

0:08:29 > 0:08:33And this is from Nicholas, who's 11. He's done an environmental picture.

0:08:33 > 0:08:36Again, as well as all the other animals,

0:08:36 > 0:08:38there's another little owl. We like that very much.

0:08:38 > 0:08:40It's earned you a green badge. Well done.

0:08:40 > 0:08:43To find out more about all of the Blue Peter badges,

0:08:43 > 0:08:48jump on to our website -

0:08:48 > 0:08:51And you can find out all about Blue Peter badges

0:08:56 > 0:08:58- # Ah- # Ah- # Ah- # Ah

0:08:58 > 0:08:59# Badges

0:09:01 > 0:09:03# Blue Peter badges

0:09:04 > 0:09:07HE RAPS: # There's loads of different colours to adorn your sternum

0:09:07 > 0:09:10# Can't buy them in the shops, you have to earn 'em

0:09:10 > 0:09:12# What did you do to get your

0:09:12 > 0:09:14# Blue Peter badge?

0:09:15 > 0:09:19So you're saying there is more than blue, then, that me and you've got?

0:09:19 > 0:09:20Yeah, there's...

0:09:20 > 0:09:22.. as well as the blue one.

0:09:22 > 0:09:25Wow. You must have worked really hard, especially for that gold one.

0:09:25 > 0:09:26Yeah!

0:09:26 > 0:09:28Er, no, I just borrowed 'em.

0:09:28 > 0:09:30RAPPING: # Anyway, let me talk you through them all.

0:09:30 > 0:09:33# This is the one that you've probably all seen before, right?

0:09:33 > 0:09:36# But "how do I get one?" is doubtless what you want to know

0:09:36 > 0:09:39# Well, it's as simple as sending something into the show

0:09:39 > 0:09:42# Could be a poem or a story, serious or silly

0:09:42 > 0:09:45# Could be a picture that you've done, specifically for Lindsey

0:09:45 > 0:09:47# Got a great idea? Stick it in an e-mail or letter

0:09:47 > 0:09:51# And in return you could be rewarded with this handsome treasure...

0:09:51 > 0:09:53I've already got one, but I've written this really good rhyme.

0:09:53 > 0:09:56Funny you should say that, because if you send something in

0:09:56 > 0:09:58- a second time, you could get a silver badge.- Wow!

0:09:58 > 0:09:59Yeah, and look at it gleam.

0:09:59 > 0:10:03Except, technically, you can't get any cos you're over the age of 15.

0:10:03 > 0:10:05# Have you seen this orange one? It's even more rare

0:10:05 > 0:10:08# If anybody's the owner of one of these out there

0:10:08 > 0:10:11# It's cos they've won or were runner-up in a BP competition

0:10:11 > 0:10:14# It's a miniature trophy you can wear on your britches!

0:10:14 > 0:10:17# Fancy answering some questions about an episode of Blue Peter?

0:10:17 > 0:10:20# Fill in the feedback form and get a purple badge, feast your peepers

0:10:20 > 0:10:22# Or is green more your colour? If it's the green badge you favour

0:10:22 > 0:10:24# Just submit stuff about

0:10:24 > 0:10:26# The environment, conservation or nature...

0:10:26 > 0:10:28What's this about a sports badge, I think I heard you say?

0:10:28 > 0:10:31It's fairly self-explanatory, Stephen - clue's in the name!

0:10:31 > 0:10:34# This one's only available in summer and to get it, in short

0:10:34 > 0:10:37# You have to have inspired other people to get involved in sport

0:10:37 > 0:10:40# Then there's the gold one. Notice the music's gone all celestial

0:10:40 > 0:10:43# You can only get one of these if you do something REALLY special

0:10:43 > 0:10:46# Demonstrate amazing courage in the face of danger

0:10:46 > 0:10:49# Like saving someone's life or something equally major

0:10:49 > 0:10:52# Some gold badge owners you might have heard of, I reckon,

0:10:52 > 0:10:55# Jessica Ennis has got one and so has David Beckham

0:10:55 > 0:10:58# The most famous person to own a badge, by far, though,

0:10:58 > 0:11:01# Is a little northern chap by the name of Gary Barlow...

0:11:01 > 0:11:02Isn't it the Queen?

0:11:02 > 0:11:06- Hmm?- I'm sure it's Her Majesty, the Queen.

0:11:06 > 0:11:09No, no, you're right, it's Her Majesty, the Queen.

0:11:11 > 0:11:12# Badges!

0:11:13 > 0:11:15# Blue Peter badges!

0:11:16 > 0:11:19# There's loads of different colours to adorn your sternum

0:11:19 > 0:11:22# Can't buy them in the shops, you have to earn 'em

0:11:22 > 0:11:25# They can get you into theme parks, castles and zoos

0:11:25 > 0:11:28# They can liven up your jumper or your bag or your shoes

0:11:28 > 0:11:30# What will you do?

0:11:30 > 0:11:32- # What will you do? - # What will you do?

0:11:32 > 0:11:34# What will you do, to get your...

0:11:34 > 0:11:35# Blue Peter badge? #

0:11:35 > 0:11:37I love Brett Domino.

0:11:37 > 0:11:39You can head to the website and check out online

0:11:39 > 0:11:42if you want to show your friends or just see it again.

0:11:42 > 0:11:45Now. You might have guessed, it is time for our feathery feature.

0:11:45 > 0:11:48This is Mumble. We will meet him properly later.

0:11:48 > 0:11:49Before that, do you know what?

0:11:49 > 0:11:52This is the first time I've ever been this close to an owl.

0:11:52 > 0:11:56But for Jake, who's 11, meeting a bird of prey like this

0:11:56 > 0:11:58is just part of his everyday life. Check this out.

0:11:58 > 0:12:04Hi, I'm Jake and I look after real live birds of prey.

0:12:04 > 0:12:06This is what it's like being me.

0:12:07 > 0:12:10My family run a bird of prey centre.

0:12:10 > 0:12:12I help out after school and at weekends.

0:12:12 > 0:12:14As soon as I get home,

0:12:14 > 0:12:19I get changed, grab a bite to eat and head over to the centre.

0:12:19 > 0:12:24We have over 50 different species of birds here,

0:12:24 > 0:12:26including owls,

0:12:26 > 0:12:28storks and eagles.

0:12:30 > 0:12:32But my three favourite are...

0:12:32 > 0:12:35Peregrine falcons are the fastest bird in the world.

0:12:35 > 0:12:38They can even catch other birds in mid-air.

0:12:38 > 0:12:40Kestrels have amazing eyesight

0:12:40 > 0:12:43which helps them catch small animals like mice and voles.

0:12:45 > 0:12:49Vultures wee on themselves on hot days to help keep them cool

0:12:49 > 0:12:50and to kill off bacteria.

0:12:53 > 0:12:55One of my jobs is weighing the birds.

0:12:55 > 0:12:57If they're too heavy, they can't fly.

0:15:16 > 0:15:18This is one of my favourite kestrels.

0:15:18 > 0:15:21She's called Whisper. I have to wear a special glove

0:15:21 > 0:15:23so her talons don't dig into me.

0:15:23 > 0:15:26And this is a pouch where I keep her dinner.

0:15:26 > 0:15:28You feel like flying today, Whisper?

0:15:34 > 0:15:38I like Whisper because I love the way she acts with me.

0:15:46 > 0:15:48I hope you've enjoyed seeing what it is like

0:15:53 > 0:15:56Do you know what? Hearing Jake's story about bird poo,

0:15:56 > 0:15:58I'm hoping our next guests are on their best behaviour.

0:15:58 > 0:16:02Normally we give them a big round of applause, but today just a quiet one,

0:16:02 > 0:16:05for Mumble and Atka with Carole and Vicki. Hello!

0:16:05 > 0:16:09Thank you so much for coming in today. Oh, Mumble's getting excited!

0:16:09 > 0:16:11So, Carol, what type of owl is he?

0:16:11 > 0:16:15He is a European eagle owl, one of the largest of all owls.

0:16:15 > 0:16:18- Although he's actually quite a small male.- Oh, really?

0:16:18 > 0:16:19The females are much bigger.

0:16:19 > 0:16:21I thought he was really heavy, what about Atka?

0:16:21 > 0:16:26Atka's a bit heavier than Mumble, a couple of pound more.

0:16:26 > 0:16:30- And what type of owl is she? - She's a female snowy owl.

0:16:30 > 0:16:33Are we likely to see them in the UK? If I looked out my window...

0:16:33 > 0:16:36You wouldn't see Atka. They live in colder climates.

0:16:36 > 0:16:38ATKA HOOTS

0:16:38 > 0:16:41They live in, like, the Outer Hebrides, Iceland...

0:16:41 > 0:16:42But you could see an eagle owl,

0:16:42 > 0:16:44there are a few pairs in this country.

0:16:44 > 0:16:47How old are Mumble and Atka?

0:16:47 > 0:16:50Mumble is coming up to five, and Atka is three.

0:16:50 > 0:16:55- And how old will they get?- They can live 30 years plus in captivity,

0:16:55 > 0:16:58but in the wild, it can be as little as three years.

0:16:58 > 0:17:02So why are they good predators?

0:17:02 > 0:17:07They've got fabulous eyesight, and their hearing is very good.

0:17:07 > 0:17:11Certainly, with the barn owl, they are totally silent in flight.

0:17:11 > 0:17:14These can be quite big, but they don't make a lot of noise,

0:17:14 > 0:17:16so their prey doesn't hear them coming.

0:17:16 > 0:17:21It seems strange they hunt at dusk or dawn, is it not harder to see?

0:17:21 > 0:17:25Different owls have different colours of eyes,

0:17:25 > 0:17:28and that denotes whether they are nocturnal or diurnal hunters.

0:17:28 > 0:17:32Some hunt when it goes dark, some hunt when it's getting light.

0:17:32 > 0:17:36If you look closely at Atka, has she got two different eyelids?

0:17:36 > 0:17:40Yeah, they have what's called a nictitating membrane

0:17:40 > 0:17:44which helps them to clear their eye and when they're flying

0:17:44 > 0:17:46it's like a visor, really.

0:17:46 > 0:17:48It just protects their eye.

0:17:48 > 0:17:50They've got one that protects it

0:17:50 > 0:17:52and one that's a bit like a windscreen wiper.

0:17:52 > 0:17:54Yeah, they don't blink as much with the full eyelid,

0:17:54 > 0:17:56but you will see that one quite often.

0:17:56 > 0:17:59I think we've actually got that in slow motion.

0:18:01 > 0:18:03That is amazing, two eyelids.

0:18:03 > 0:18:06You've brought some eggshells in with you today,

0:18:06 > 0:18:09what is this little one?

0:18:09 > 0:18:10An English barn owl egg.

0:18:10 > 0:18:13- And this big one?- And that one is a European eagle owl.

0:18:13 > 0:18:17- Wow, so this one grows into Mumble? - Yes.

0:18:17 > 0:18:19What do they eat when they're just little babies?

0:18:19 > 0:18:25Their parents will bring them mice, voles, small animals like that.

0:18:25 > 0:18:28The parents will tear it up and feed the chicks,

0:18:28 > 0:18:32until they're old enough to eat the full animal themselves.

0:18:32 > 0:18:34OK, let's do some owl myth-busting.

0:18:34 > 0:18:39- I have heard that they can turn their heads 360 degrees, is it true?- No.

0:18:39 > 0:18:43- Aww! So how far? - Just past 180 degrees,

0:18:43 > 0:18:45but they can turn it different ways as well,

0:18:45 > 0:18:47so they can look upside down.

0:18:47 > 0:18:50They've got a lot of extra vertebrae in their neck

0:18:50 > 0:18:53because they need to be able to see a lot.

0:18:53 > 0:18:56Their eyes are fixed in their skull, so they can't look

0:18:56 > 0:19:00side-to-side like we can, which is why they need to turn their head.

0:19:00 > 0:19:05And owl myth number two is that they're wise.

0:19:05 > 0:19:09- They have to be really clever, yes. - Oh, yes.

0:19:09 > 0:19:15Just to be able to survive, they have to be alert all the time.

0:19:15 > 0:19:18Survival isn't easy for them, so they need to be clever.

0:19:18 > 0:19:20- So they are wise, Mumble's a wise old owl?- Yes.

0:19:20 > 0:19:23- MUMBLE HOOTS - Not particularly old, are you?

0:19:23 > 0:19:25He can hear us speaking about him!

0:19:25 > 0:19:27Thank you very much for bringing them in today.

0:19:27 > 0:19:30I just knew meeting these owls was going to be a hoot.

0:19:30 > 0:19:32CAROLE AND VICKI LAUGH Get it? Over to you.

0:19:34 > 0:19:36That there was a Barney Harwood joke.

0:19:36 > 0:19:37Now, it is time to welcome to Blue Peter -

0:19:37 > 0:19:40put your hands together, make some noise, for Tich!

0:19:40 > 0:19:42APPLAUSE AND CHEERING

0:19:42 > 0:19:45- Welcome to Blue Peter. How are you? - I am very well, how are you?

0:19:45 > 0:19:47I am very, very good.

0:19:47 > 0:19:50It is probably fair to say your pop career has just skyrocketed,

0:19:50 > 0:19:52with four million hits online,

0:19:52 > 0:19:54you've been touring with the likes of Olly Murs, Little Mix,

0:19:54 > 0:19:57One Direction, how on earth are you feeling at this point?

0:19:57 > 0:19:59I am so lucky, I am so happy.

0:19:59 > 0:20:02It is an absolute honour to be able to share the stage

0:20:02 > 0:20:04with such amazing artists.

0:20:04 > 0:20:07- And just live the music dream. - Exactly.

0:20:07 > 0:20:09A little bird tells me that you're a bit of a fashionista?

0:20:09 > 0:20:12I love fashion, I always have done.

0:20:12 > 0:20:16I love going through the magazines, picking out different styles,

0:20:16 > 0:20:19I love experimenting with colours and different shapes.

0:20:19 > 0:20:23- Yes, it is a big hobby of mine. - Well, you will love this, then.

0:20:23 > 0:20:27We will be showing you how to make one of these T-shirts.

0:20:27 > 0:20:30All of the instructions and details are on our website...

0:20:34 > 0:20:37Now, you may have seen something similar to this with tie-dying,

0:20:37 > 0:20:42but this is much less messy, and in my opinion, much cooler.

0:20:42 > 0:20:46You need a plain coloured T-shirt, plastic cups,

0:20:46 > 0:20:49coloured permanent markers, a paintbrush,

0:20:49 > 0:20:51elastic bands, and the important part -

0:20:51 > 0:20:56make-up remover, but this is the liquid, and not the lotion.

0:20:56 > 0:21:01First, Tich, we have to place a plastic cup in between the T-shirt.

0:21:01 > 0:21:04Then you take an elastic band and wrap it

0:21:04 > 0:21:06- round the rim of the cup.- What?

0:21:06 > 0:21:08That becomes our canvas.

0:21:08 > 0:21:13Simply repeat the process and choose a pattern of your desire.

0:21:13 > 0:21:15- I have gone...- Very nice.

0:21:15 > 0:21:20..for the three across the top, much like my favourite crossword.

0:21:20 > 0:21:22- What have you gone for, Tich? - A diagonal,

0:21:22 > 0:21:26I wanted to spread the design throughout the whole T-shirt.

0:21:26 > 0:21:29I like it, but while we do that, there are loads of questions

0:21:29 > 0:21:31the viewers sent in, I think Lindsey's going to ask them.

0:21:31 > 0:21:35- We've got loads for you, Tich. - Oh!- So we'll just dive straight in.

0:21:35 > 0:21:37The first one's from Green Sweet Giraffe, he says...

0:21:37 > 0:21:39"What gives you inspiration for your songs?"

0:21:39 > 0:21:43Inspiration for me comes from real life things.

0:21:43 > 0:21:47- I guess my songs are like a diary. - I like it.

0:21:47 > 0:21:48Ruby Sprinkles Shark says...

0:21:48 > 0:21:51"What's your favourite song to dance to?"

0:21:51 > 0:21:55I think anything from when I was growing up, really.

0:21:55 > 0:22:00- I love Britney Spears.- Yes. - Backstreet Boys.- Nineties.

0:22:00 > 0:22:03- Good pop music. - And Smiling Chimp says...

0:22:03 > 0:22:06"What would you do if you weren't a singer?"

0:22:06 > 0:22:10I think I would aspire to be a chef. Or a baker...

0:22:10 > 0:22:13or a candlestick maker!

0:22:13 > 0:22:17I like what you did there. Poetry as well as a singer!

0:22:17 > 0:22:20Now, it gets a bit messy at this point,

0:22:20 > 0:22:22worth putting a newspaper underneath.

0:22:22 > 0:22:26We need to drip this onto the colours,

0:22:26 > 0:22:28we are not pouring it.

0:22:28 > 0:22:32- And then we will work the colour in with the paintbrush.- Oh, wow.

0:22:32 > 0:22:38- You can possibly see the colours begin to run.- Oh, dear.

0:22:38 > 0:22:42- Tiny drip.- Tich, yours looks good.

0:22:42 > 0:22:44I like how you've mixed the colours,

0:22:44 > 0:22:45that looks really cool. TICH LAUGHS

0:22:45 > 0:22:48Now, there is also something I should have possibly said -

0:22:48 > 0:22:52not to put too much on, otherwise it might look like that!

0:22:52 > 0:22:57- It looks good!- Can I just say, it was meant to be a happy star.

0:22:57 > 0:23:02- Well, it's a something star. - Now it's a star in the night sky.

0:23:02 > 0:23:07Once you have done this on all three of the cups, wait for it to dry

0:23:07 > 0:23:10for two hours, pop off the elastic bands, take the cups out,

0:23:10 > 0:23:13and then you will end up with T-shirts which look like those.

0:23:13 > 0:23:15How good do they look?!

0:23:15 > 0:23:18You might also get permanent marker on your fingers,

0:23:18 > 0:23:19so you can use warm, soapy water.

0:23:19 > 0:23:22The T-shirts, if you want to wash those,

0:23:22 > 0:23:24hand wash them in cool water, do not put them

0:23:24 > 0:23:28in the washing machine, the colour will go everywhere.

0:23:28 > 0:23:31If you have done one, take a photo and send them to us.

0:23:31 > 0:23:33We love when you get involved with our makes. It's...

0:23:35 > 0:23:38We'll try and put as many photos as possible online.

0:23:40 > 0:23:43It's time to take a look at what you've done so far. Wow!

0:23:43 > 0:23:46- That is exceptional work. - Lovely, really nice.

0:23:46 > 0:23:49Something which you are exceptional at is singing, and we're

0:23:49 > 0:23:51going to be seeing you in just a few moments.

0:23:51 > 0:23:53- Thank you so much for coming to visit us.- Thank you.

0:23:53 > 0:23:55Now, whilst Tich goes and gets herself ready,

0:23:55 > 0:23:57here's what is coming up next week.

0:23:57 > 0:24:00The three of us will be taking on a dance challenge

0:24:00 > 0:24:04with the cast of CBBC show The Next Step - you are going to love it.

0:24:04 > 0:24:09And we will be showing you how to make these Easter egg nests.

0:24:09 > 0:24:10And I will be facing

0:24:10 > 0:24:13one of my biggest fears, it is fish.

0:24:13 > 0:24:16And I absolutely hated them, they were terrifying!

0:24:16 > 0:24:18Find out how I got on next week, but now,
