0:00:38 > 0:00:40There's only one problem -

0:00:40 > 0:00:44some wild brigands want to eat the chocolate cake.

0:00:44 > 0:00:46And Small Knight needs to make sure

0:00:46 > 0:00:50it gets to a very important party without being eaten.

0:00:50 > 0:00:53The story is by Rhonda Armitage and Arthur Robbins

0:00:53 > 0:00:57and is called Small Knight And George And The Royal Chocolate Cake.

0:00:57 > 0:01:01Small Knight and his friend George lived in an old castle

0:01:01 > 0:01:03on a spiky high hill.

0:01:03 > 0:01:07One morning, Small Knight received an important letter from the king.

0:01:27 > 0:01:30Big Cook was very busy in the kitchen.

0:01:30 > 0:01:34The delicious smell of chocolate wafted through the castle

0:01:34 > 0:01:35and out of the windows.

0:01:35 > 0:01:39Mum and Dad Knight and the ladies in waiting were very busy in the castle.

0:01:39 > 0:01:42Small Knight and George were busy

0:01:42 > 0:01:46giving invitations to everyone they saw.

0:01:46 > 0:01:52They didn't see the wild brigands hiding in the dark, dark woods.

0:01:52 > 0:01:54The brigands were cross.

0:01:54 > 0:01:58"Nobody ever asks us to parties!" they cried.

0:01:58 > 0:02:01The brigands were hungry.

0:02:01 > 0:02:05"We can smell chocolate cake."

0:02:05 > 0:02:09That night, while Small Knight and George were fast asleep,

0:02:09 > 0:02:13the brigands came - creep, creep on muddy feet.

0:02:13 > 0:02:17They stole that royal chocolate cake clean away.

0:02:17 > 0:02:22"Oh, no! Who has stolen the special royal chocolate cake?"

0:02:22 > 0:02:23wailed Big Cook.

0:02:23 > 0:02:26"What will I give the king and queen for the party?"

0:02:26 > 0:02:31"Footprints here, footprints there. Muddy footprints everywhere.

0:02:31 > 0:02:34"It's the wild brigands!" cried Dad Knight.

0:02:34 > 0:02:39"Small Knight - put on your armour, take up your shield and sword

0:02:39 > 0:02:40"and get onto your horse.

0:02:40 > 0:02:44"You must find those brigands and get that cake back!"

0:02:44 > 0:02:47Small Knight didn't want to find wild brigands.

0:02:47 > 0:02:50He didn't know what they looked like.

0:02:50 > 0:02:53"Brigands hide in the dark, dark woods.

0:02:53 > 0:02:58"They're wild and smelly and they steal things," explained Dad Knight.

0:02:58 > 0:03:01"You'll know them when you see them.

0:03:01 > 0:03:04"You have to rescue the special royal chocolate cake

0:03:04 > 0:03:08"for the king and queen. That's what brave knights do."

0:03:08 > 0:03:10Small Knight didn't feel brave.

0:03:10 > 0:03:13But he did like chocolate cake.

0:03:13 > 0:03:17He clattered in his armour and clunked in his boots.

0:03:17 > 0:03:20He and George made up a song as they rode along.

0:03:20 > 0:03:23# We are friends who are brave and true

0:03:23 > 0:03:26# Today we have a job to do

0:03:26 > 0:03:29# To find those brigands and rescue that cake. #

0:03:29 > 0:03:32They came to the dark, dark woods.

0:03:32 > 0:03:35Something rustled in the bushes.

0:03:35 > 0:03:38"Hello," cried Small Knight.

0:03:38 > 0:03:40"Is that the wild brigands?"

0:03:40 > 0:03:44But it was only a wild squirrel looking for acorns.

0:03:44 > 0:03:48"I'm glad it wasn't the brigands," said Small Knight.

0:03:48 > 0:03:50Something leapt out from behind a tree.

0:03:50 > 0:03:54"Hello," cried Small Knight, "is that the wild brigands?"

0:03:54 > 0:03:58But it was only a wild deer following the herd.

0:03:58 > 0:04:02"Oh, I'm glad it wasn't the brigands," said Small Knight.

0:04:02 > 0:04:06Something whooped and hollered in the dark, dark woods.

0:04:06 > 0:04:12"Hello," whispered Small Knight, "is that the wild brigands?"

0:04:12 > 0:04:16"YES!" roared the wild brigands.

0:04:16 > 0:04:19"We're very wild and we're very hungry.

0:04:19 > 0:04:23"We just have to slice up this delicious chocolate cake

0:04:23 > 0:04:27"and then we're going to eat it - every incey wincey bit."

0:04:27 > 0:04:32"Stop!" shouted Small Knight, "You must not eat that!

0:04:32 > 0:04:35"It's a very special chocolate cake for the royal party."

0:04:35 > 0:04:40"Nobody invited us to the party!" growled the bigger brigand.

0:04:40 > 0:04:45"And I'm starving," cried the smallest brigand.

0:04:45 > 0:04:49"I have to rescue the chocolate cake for the king and queen.

0:04:49 > 0:04:53"That's what brave knights do." explained Small Knight.

0:04:53 > 0:04:59"But if you promise not to be wild then I'll invite you to the party.

0:04:59 > 0:05:02"There will be lots of good things to eat."

0:05:02 > 0:05:05So the brigands put on their best clothes,

0:05:05 > 0:05:08washed their filthy faces and brushed their wild hair.

0:05:08 > 0:05:13They sang a different song as they rode back to the castle.

0:05:13 > 0:05:16# We are friends who are brave and true

0:05:16 > 0:05:18# Today we had a job to do

0:05:18 > 0:05:20# The king and queen will cheer to see

0:05:20 > 0:05:22# The royal cake for the royal tea. #

0:05:22 > 0:05:26Mum and Dad Knight were waiting on the drawbridge.

0:05:26 > 0:05:29"Hello, Mum. Hello, Dad." shouted Small Knight.

0:05:29 > 0:05:33"I've been a brave knight and I've rescued the royal chocolate cake."

0:05:33 > 0:05:36"Hurrah!" shouted everyone.

0:05:36 > 0:05:38And they rushed the cake inside.

0:05:38 > 0:05:40"Watch out," cried Dad Knight.

0:05:40 > 0:05:43"Those wild brigands nearly caught you."

0:05:43 > 0:05:45"Where?" shouted Big Cook.

0:05:45 > 0:05:49"Out there!" shouted Mum Knight.

0:05:49 > 0:05:52"But they're not wild anymore," explained Small Knight,

0:05:52 > 0:05:55"so I've invited them to the party."

0:05:55 > 0:05:58Smallest brigand began to cry.

0:05:58 > 0:06:02"I'm a very polite brigand now.

0:06:02 > 0:06:06"Please...may I come to the party?"

0:06:06 > 0:06:09Dad Knight opened the portcullis.

0:06:09 > 0:06:12"I'm sorry - we thought you were still wild.

0:06:12 > 0:06:15"Welcome to the party."

0:06:15 > 0:06:18It was a wonderful party.

0:06:18 > 0:06:22The king and queen ate three slices each

0:06:22 > 0:06:25of the special royal chocolate cake.

0:06:25 > 0:06:29The brigands were very well behaved - they said please and thank you

0:06:29 > 0:06:31and didn't talk with their mouths full.

0:06:31 > 0:06:34They all played kick-a-ball until dark.

0:06:34 > 0:06:37"Thank you," said the king and queen.

0:06:37 > 0:06:39And they went home to their palace.

0:06:39 > 0:06:41"Thank you," said the brigands

0:06:41 > 0:06:45and they went home to the wild, wild woods.

0:06:45 > 0:06:49"Thank you," said Small Knight and George to each other.

0:06:49 > 0:06:51And they went happily to bed.

0:06:51 > 0:06:54And that story was called

0:06:54 > 0:06:58Small Knight and George and the Royal chocolate cake.

0:06:58 > 0:07:03Well, maybe I should invite the brigands to the party

0:07:03 > 0:07:07to make sure they don't try to steal this chocolate cake.

0:07:07 > 0:07:09While I finish writing their invitation,

0:07:09 > 0:07:12it's time for you to go to bed.

0:07:12 > 0:07:15Just like Small Knight and George.
