0:00:52 > 0:00:55I come from a land far, far away.

0:00:55 > 0:00:59Only my mother likes to keep it secret. She always says,

0:00:59 > 0:01:02"Delilah, darling, you were born here!"

0:01:02 > 0:01:07and "No, Delilah! You cannot wear a crown to school.

0:01:07 > 0:01:11"You are not the Queen!" That is nonsense, I'm afraid.

0:01:11 > 0:01:15If you don't believe me, ask my brother, Small Boy,

0:01:15 > 0:01:20only you won't understand him. He only speaks Far Away languages.

0:01:20 > 0:01:23And don't ask Daddy, because he's busy!

0:01:23 > 0:01:25Now, this is Gigi.

0:01:25 > 0:01:28She is my old pair. An old pair is someone

0:01:28 > 0:01:32who tries to look after you until your mother comes home.

0:01:32 > 0:01:35She is French, which is a place in France.

0:01:35 > 0:01:39Gigi says, "Come, Delilah, my little cabbage.

0:01:43 > 0:01:47I love looking at books! And smelling them!

0:01:47 > 0:01:51And shutting them like this - snap! - when I get to the end.

0:01:51 > 0:01:56The library is full of extremely interesting books.

0:01:56 > 0:01:58Some have pictures, some have words,

0:01:58 > 0:02:02and this one has a squashed baked bean on page five.

0:02:02 > 0:02:08But do you know? It's not a bit like the library in my Far Away Land.

0:02:08 > 0:02:12Where I come from, they always give you free sticky buns!

0:02:12 > 0:02:16Small Boy is hungry. So I ask Gigi,

0:02:16 > 0:02:20"When will they bring the buns?" And she says,

0:02:20 > 0:02:24"What is buns? I am not understanding.

0:02:24 > 0:02:26"Ask that librarian."

0:02:26 > 0:02:30So me and Small Boy go and ask Library Anne,

0:02:30 > 0:02:33but she says, "No food in 'ere, please!"

0:02:33 > 0:02:39And I say, "Really? Where I come from, everyone eats in the library.

0:02:39 > 0:02:43"There is a man who walks around with a big tray

0:02:43 > 0:02:46"and he shouts, 'Who wants a bun?!' "

0:02:46 > 0:02:48"Ssh!" says Library Anne!

0:02:48 > 0:02:53But everyone says, "Ooh! Are there buns? Are they free? We want buns!"

0:02:53 > 0:02:59"Now, that," says Library Anne, "is why we don't shout in the library."

0:02:59 > 0:03:03Library Anne says, "I don't know where you come from, young lady,

0:03:03 > 0:03:07"but we have different rules in this library."

0:03:07 > 0:03:10I tell her I come from a land far far away.

0:03:10 > 0:03:14"Well, run along and find a nice book about it," she says.

0:03:14 > 0:03:17So I run along. But Library Anne says,

0:03:17 > 0:03:19"No running in the library, please!"

0:03:19 > 0:03:24which is odd, because where I come from, everyone runs in the library.

0:03:24 > 0:03:30Anyway, I try to find a book about the land where I came from.

0:03:30 > 0:03:34But I can't. Anyone would think that it didn't exist.

0:03:34 > 0:03:39Then Small Boy says, "Try up there!" in Far Away language.

0:03:39 > 0:03:42So I start to climb.

0:03:42 > 0:03:47But Library Anne says, "Come down! That is not how we fetch a book!"

0:03:47 > 0:03:53I say, "Ooh? I'm sorry. Only I couldn't find the trapeze.

0:03:53 > 0:03:58"Where I come from, there is a trapeze to reach too-high books."

0:03:58 > 0:04:03"Hey! I like the trapeze idea," says Mrs Woolly Hat.

0:04:03 > 0:04:07"I'm short. I never get to read the too-high books."

0:04:07 > 0:04:11Library Anne says, "There are more sensible ways of reaching books.

0:04:11 > 0:04:14"I will help you find the book properly.

0:04:14 > 0:04:18"Now, tell me the name of the land where you come from."

0:04:18 > 0:04:22Only I can't, because it's very hard to say.

0:04:22 > 0:04:25Small Boy tells her in Far Away language,

0:04:25 > 0:04:30but she doesn't understand, so I explain that we come from

0:04:30 > 0:04:34a tiny little island between Jafrica and Smindia,

0:04:34 > 0:04:38only Library Anne has never heard of such places.

0:04:38 > 0:04:43Library Anne opens a big book and says, "Here is a map of the world.

0:04:43 > 0:04:46"Can you point to where you come from?"

0:04:46 > 0:04:48But would you believe it?

0:04:48 > 0:04:52The person who drew the map forgot to put it on!

0:04:52 > 0:04:55So I give Library Anne a map I made

0:04:55 > 0:04:58to show her what the world is really like.

0:04:58 > 0:05:03"Here it is! A map of the land where I come from."

0:05:03 > 0:05:08"You can't read its name, because it's under my drawing

0:05:08 > 0:05:10"of a Jafrican smelephant,

0:05:10 > 0:05:14"which is a bit like a Smindian olyphant, only smellier.

0:05:14 > 0:05:18"Where I come from, we have our own animals,

0:05:18 > 0:05:22"our own rules and everything. We even have our own song

0:05:22 > 0:05:27"called Hooray For Queen Delilah, which I wrote."

0:05:27 > 0:05:31"I'd love to hear that!" said Mrs Woolly Hat.

0:05:31 > 0:05:37So, ahem, I stand on a chair and sing it. Mrs Woolly Hat joins in.

0:06:34 > 0:06:38We go home, I tell my mother about the library.

0:06:38 > 0:06:41It was extremely fun

0:06:41 > 0:06:44and I borrowed a lovely book called Tropical Diseases.

0:06:44 > 0:06:49But it was nothing like the library in the land where I come from.

0:06:49 > 0:06:55"But, Delilah, darling," she says, "You come from here! We all do!"

0:06:55 > 0:06:59We don't, though. She's just pretending. Funny old thing.
