0:09:50 > 0:09:57.
0:10:02 > 0:10:07Cadabra-babra! That's not right. What IS the magic word? Oh, hello!
0:10:07 > 0:10:08I'm Annette.
0:10:08 > 0:10:11I'm trying to work out the right magic word
0:10:11 > 0:10:14to turn this carpet into a flying carpet.
0:10:14 > 0:10:17I really want to go flying round the world.
0:10:17 > 0:10:21I think a flying carpet is the best way of travelling.
0:10:21 > 0:10:25Winnie the Witch has one in tonight's bedtime story.
0:10:25 > 0:10:27It's by Valerie Thomas and Korky Paul,
0:10:27 > 0:10:31and is called Winnie's Flying Carpet.
0:10:31 > 0:10:34Winnie the Witch was busy writing letters.
0:10:34 > 0:10:38They were thank you letters for her birthday presents.
0:10:38 > 0:10:41Now there was only one left - the trickiest letter.
0:10:41 > 0:10:44Winnie's sisters - Wilma, Wanda and Wendy -
0:10:44 > 0:10:47had given her a flying carpet.
0:10:47 > 0:10:50Winnie had always wanted a flying carpet,
0:10:50 > 0:10:53but this one had been a disappointment.
0:10:53 > 0:10:56Actually, it had been a disaster.
0:10:56 > 0:11:00There was the time it got tangled in Winnie's washing,
0:11:00 > 0:11:04and the day it tipped over as they were passing the duck pond,
0:11:04 > 0:11:07and then one day, it turned a corner too quickly.
0:11:07 > 0:11:12After that, Winnie rolled up the carpet, tied it with string,
0:11:12 > 0:11:15put it in the broom cupboard and locked the door.
0:11:15 > 0:11:20But Winnie wanted to write something nice about the carpet in her letter.
0:11:20 > 0:11:23She unlocked the cupboard, untied the carpet
0:11:23 > 0:11:26and spread in on the armchair.
0:11:26 > 0:11:29"She's a beautiful carpet," she thought.
0:11:29 > 0:11:31"It seems a pity not to use it."
0:11:31 > 0:11:35So, Winnie decided to give it one more chance.
0:11:35 > 0:11:37Just then, the doorbell rang.
0:11:37 > 0:11:40Ding-dong!
0:11:40 > 0:11:45Winnie hurried off to answer it, just as Wilbur came inside.
0:11:45 > 0:11:49After a busy morning climbing trees and chasing butterflies,
0:11:49 > 0:11:51he was ready for a sleep.
0:11:51 > 0:11:54The sun was shining on the flying carpet.
0:11:54 > 0:11:57It looked so warm and comfortable.
0:11:57 > 0:12:01Wilbur jumped up, and in one minute, he was snoring.
0:12:02 > 0:12:06The flying carpet waited one more minute.
0:12:06 > 0:12:11Then it rose gently into the air.
0:12:11 > 0:12:13Wilbur didn't wake up.
0:12:13 > 0:12:16It flew gently around the room.
0:12:16 > 0:12:19Wilbur didn't wake up.
0:12:19 > 0:12:22Then it zoomed out of the window!
0:12:22 > 0:12:24Wilbur woke up.
0:12:24 > 0:12:27"Mia-iaw," he cried. Winnie heard him.
0:12:27 > 0:12:32She looked up just in time to see the carpet zoom up into the sky.
0:12:32 > 0:12:34"No!" cried Winnie.
0:12:34 > 0:12:38She grabbed her magic wand and her broomstick
0:12:38 > 0:12:39and zoomed up after them.
0:12:39 > 0:12:43Winnie flew as fast as her broomstick could go,
0:12:43 > 0:12:44but the carpet was faster.
0:12:44 > 0:12:48It swooped over the clock tower and under a bridge.
0:12:48 > 0:12:51Winnie followed. "Hang on tight," she called.
0:12:51 > 0:12:53"Mia-iaw," cried Wilbur.
0:12:53 > 0:12:56Then the carpet flew over a fun fair.
0:12:56 > 0:12:57What fun!
0:12:57 > 0:13:01First, it whizzed down the Rollercoaster Rocket.
0:13:01 > 0:13:03Winnie whizzed down behind it.
0:13:03 > 0:13:05Then it tried the Terrible Twister.
0:13:05 > 0:13:08The flying carpet was having a wonderful time!
0:13:08 > 0:13:12Wilbur was having a horrible time. Winnie was worried.
0:13:12 > 0:13:15Then she had an idea.
0:13:15 > 0:13:18She waved her magic wand, shouted, "Abracadabra,"
0:13:18 > 0:13:20and everything stopped.
0:13:20 > 0:13:24Nothing whizzed or zoomed or shrieked or splashed.
0:13:24 > 0:13:27All was still, including the flying carpet.
0:13:27 > 0:13:30Wilbur jumped onto Winnie's shoulder.
0:13:30 > 0:13:34"Purr-rr-rr, purr-rr-rr," he said.
0:13:34 > 0:13:36Then Winnie rolled up the flying carpet.
0:13:36 > 0:13:39"Let's go home, Wilbur," she said.
0:13:39 > 0:13:41"By broomstick."
0:13:41 > 0:13:43Winnie waved her magic wand backwards.
0:13:43 > 0:13:48"Abracadabra," she shouted, and everything started again.
0:13:48 > 0:13:50Wheee! Zooom! Whizzzz! Vroom!
0:13:50 > 0:13:54Winnie and Wilbur landed in Winnie's garden.
0:13:54 > 0:13:57Winnie frowned at the flying carpet.
0:13:57 > 0:13:59What would she do with it?
0:13:59 > 0:14:03Then Winnie had a wonderful idea.
0:14:03 > 0:14:08She shut her eyes, waved her wand, shouted, "Abracadabra,"
0:14:08 > 0:14:11and there, tied to two trees,
0:14:11 > 0:14:15was a beautiful hammock.
0:14:15 > 0:14:18Winnie and Wilbur climbed in.
0:14:18 > 0:14:22They were both very tired.
0:14:22 > 0:14:25The hammock rocked gently in the breeze.
0:14:25 > 0:14:30"This is SO comfortable, Wilbur," said Winnie.
0:14:30 > 0:14:32But Wilbur didn't hear her.
0:14:32 > 0:14:36He was already fast asleep.
0:14:37 > 0:14:40That story was called Winnie's Flying Carpet.
0:14:40 > 0:14:42Mmm...
0:14:42 > 0:14:46Maybe a flying carpet isn't the best way to travel.
0:14:46 > 0:14:50I wonder what else I could turn this into.
0:14:50 > 0:14:51Maybe a plane?
0:14:51 > 0:14:53Or maybe a boat?
0:14:53 > 0:14:56While I decide, it's time for you to go to bed.
0:14:56 > 0:14:59I'll see you soon for another story.
