0:08:03 > 0:08:06CBeebies Bedtime Story.
0:08:07 > 0:08:10If I look at it like this, it's round.
0:08:10 > 0:08:14But if I look at it like this, it's flat.
0:08:16 > 0:08:19Oh, hello! I'm Romila.
0:08:19 > 0:08:22I was just working out what shape this piece of cheese is
0:08:22 > 0:08:24and what it looks like.
0:08:24 > 0:08:28If I look at it like this, it's round.
0:08:28 > 0:08:32But if I look at it like this, it's very thin and very flat.
0:08:32 > 0:08:34What do you think it looks like?
0:08:34 > 0:08:38A football? A bicycle wheel?
0:08:38 > 0:08:40I don't know.
0:08:40 > 0:08:43But I know someone who can help us.
0:08:43 > 0:08:47Nibbles the mouse. And he's in tonight's bedtime story.
0:08:47 > 0:08:50It's by Janet Bingham and Rosalind Beardshaw
0:08:50 > 0:08:53and it's called, Goodnight Magic Moon.
0:08:54 > 0:08:58Nibbles gathered blackberries in the moonlight.
0:08:58 > 0:09:01"Catch, Mummy!" he called.
0:09:01 > 0:09:06Nibbles smiled proudly at his pile of juicy berries.
0:09:06 > 0:09:10"You've found a lovely big supper this evening," said Mummy.
0:09:10 > 0:09:13"It was easy," replied Nibbles.
0:09:13 > 0:09:16"It's almost as light as daytime."
0:09:16 > 0:09:20"That's because there's a beautiful round moon tonight."
0:09:20 > 0:09:25On the next night, Nibbles and Mummy searched for acorns.
0:09:25 > 0:09:31The night was still bright but the moon had changed shape.
0:09:31 > 0:09:36"The moon is shrinking!" gasped Nibbles.
0:09:36 > 0:09:41But Mummy explained that the moon mice had begun their moon feast.
0:09:41 > 0:09:46"They nibble at the moon each night until it's all gone," she said.
0:09:46 > 0:09:53"And then it grows again, until it's as round and bright as before."
0:09:53 > 0:09:57Each evening after that, the moon grew thinner
0:09:57 > 0:09:59and the nights grew darker.
0:09:59 > 0:10:03Nibbles found the sunflower seeds under the three quarter moon.
0:10:03 > 0:10:06Rosehips under the half moon,
0:10:06 > 0:10:09hazelnuts under the quarter moon,
0:10:09 > 0:10:13and toadstools under the thin curve of the crescent moon.
0:10:13 > 0:10:17Then, one night, there was no moon at all.
0:10:17 > 0:10:22"The moon is all gone!" said Nibbles.
0:10:22 > 0:10:27"Don't worry," said Mummy. "The moon mice always leave a tiny edge,
0:10:27 > 0:10:32"too small for us to see. Then they sprinkle it with stardust
0:10:32 > 0:10:34"so the moon can grow again."
0:10:34 > 0:10:40It was so dark that Nibbles and Mummy had to use their noses
0:10:40 > 0:10:42to find their supper.
0:10:42 > 0:10:44Nibbles sniffed the air.
0:10:44 > 0:10:49- SHE SNIFFS - "I smell something!" he said.
0:10:49 > 0:10:52"Something very, very nice!"
0:10:52 > 0:10:57Mummy and Nibbles followed the delicious smell across the field.
0:10:57 > 0:11:03"It looks like the moon, fallen down from the sky!" said Nibbles.
0:11:03 > 0:11:07"So it does," agreed Mummy.
0:11:07 > 0:11:11"But it's not the moon - it's a cheese.
0:11:11 > 0:11:18"The biggest, roundest, most moon-like cheese I've ever seen!
0:11:18 > 0:11:21"You are clever, Nibbles."
0:11:21 > 0:11:25"We can eat it all up!" giggled Nibbles.
0:11:25 > 0:11:28"A whole moon cheese, just for us!"
0:11:28 > 0:11:33Just then, a very old mouse came along.
0:11:33 > 0:11:37"What a marvellous cheese!" she exclaimed.
0:11:37 > 0:11:40"Hello, Mrs Eldermouse," said Mummy.
0:11:40 > 0:11:44"Isn't it fine? Nibbles found it."
0:11:44 > 0:11:47Mrs Eldermouse smiled kindly at Nibbles.
0:11:47 > 0:11:55"Well done," she said. "I hope you enjoy your special supper."
0:11:55 > 0:11:58Nibbles watched Mrs Eldermouse hobble away.
0:11:58 > 0:12:01She looked very tired and hungry.
0:12:01 > 0:12:04Nibbles looked at his cheese.
0:12:04 > 0:12:06He looked back at Mrs Eldermouse.
0:12:06 > 0:12:11Then he took a deep breath and called out,
0:12:11 > 0:12:16"Would you like some? It's big enough to share."
0:12:16 > 0:12:19Mummy broke the cheese into three pieces
0:12:19 > 0:12:23and Nibbles handed Mrs Eldermouse a piece to take home.
0:12:23 > 0:12:27"Thank you, Nibbles," she said, taking a bite.
0:12:27 > 0:12:29"It's delicious."
0:12:29 > 0:12:34Nibbles and Mummy ate their cheese as they walked back to the nest.
0:12:34 > 0:12:38"It was kind of you to share your cheese, Nibbles." said Mummy.
0:12:38 > 0:12:42"I'm so proud of you, and if the moon mice were watching,
0:12:42 > 0:12:45"they would be proud of you too."
0:12:45 > 0:12:51Nibbles happily nibbled his cheese until a thin curved edge was left.
0:12:51 > 0:12:58He held it up to the starry sky and they followed the moon shape home.
0:12:58 > 0:13:03Back at the nest, Nibbles tumbled inside with a yawn.
0:13:03 > 0:13:04SHE YAWNS
0:13:04 > 0:13:08"Time for bed, sleepyhead," smiled Mummy.
0:13:08 > 0:13:12She tucked him in and began a bedtime story.
0:13:12 > 0:13:16"Once there was a mouse," said Mummy,
0:13:16 > 0:13:21"who found a round cheese, just like yours.
0:13:21 > 0:13:25"He was a very good little mouse, just like you.
0:13:25 > 0:13:29"He shared his cheese with all the other mice
0:13:29 > 0:13:32"until only a tiny bit was left."
0:13:32 > 0:13:36The moon mice looked down from the sky
0:13:36 > 0:13:38and saw what a good mouse he was,
0:13:38 > 0:13:45so while he slept they sprinkled stardust on his last bit of cheese.
0:13:45 > 0:13:52And when the mouse woke up, the tiny little bit was whole again.
0:13:52 > 0:13:55As big and round as before.
0:13:55 > 0:13:58And as magic as the moon.
0:13:58 > 0:14:01Nibbles smiled sleepily.
0:14:01 > 0:14:06"I shared too, didn't I?" he said.
0:14:06 > 0:14:10"You did, you're a very good little mouse."
0:14:10 > 0:14:15"Is my cheese magic like the moon?" asked Nibbles.
0:14:15 > 0:14:21"Maybe," smiled Mummy. "Let's hope the moon mice are watching.
0:14:21 > 0:14:25"Goodnight, little Nibbles."
0:14:25 > 0:14:28"Goodnight, Mummy," said Nibbles.
0:14:28 > 0:14:31"And goodnight magic moon."
0:14:31 > 0:14:37Then, before he closed his eyes, he put the last little bit of cheese
0:14:37 > 0:14:39down carefully beside his bed.
0:14:39 > 0:14:41Just in case.
0:14:43 > 0:14:46And that story was called, Goodnight Magic Moon.
0:14:48 > 0:14:53So that's what this cheese looks like! The moon.
0:14:53 > 0:14:56I wonder if the moon mice are watching us.
0:14:56 > 0:15:03I'll have a look, and while I do, it's time for you to go to bed
0:15:03 > 0:15:05and close your eyes.
0:15:05 > 0:15:07Just like Nibbles.
0:15:07 > 0:15:10I'll see you soon for another story.
0:15:10 > 0:15:12Night-night.
0:15:12 > 0:15:15Where are you, moon mice?
0:15:15 > 0:15:19Let's see if I can spot you...
