0:27:34 > 0:27:38I was just arranging these lovely purple and yellow flowers.

0:27:38 > 0:27:41I like these colours together. What do you think?

0:27:43 > 0:27:46There are lots of colours and beautiful flowers

0:27:46 > 0:27:48in tonight's bedtime story.

0:27:48 > 0:27:54It's by Emma Chichester Clark and it's called Eliza And The Moonchild.

0:27:55 > 0:27:59As the moon shone and the sky grew black

0:27:59 > 0:28:02and Mrs Moon turned on more lights

0:28:02 > 0:28:05the Moonchild gazed through his telescope

0:28:05 > 0:28:08"What's that?" he asked.

0:28:08 > 0:28:10"That's Earth," said his mother.

0:28:10 > 0:28:13"I want to go there," said the Moonchild.

0:28:13 > 0:28:19"Everything here is white, white, white. I want colours!" he cried.

0:28:19 > 0:28:23"Don't be such a wild Moonchild," said Mrs Moon.

0:28:23 > 0:28:28That night, the Moonchild slipped out of his bright, white room

0:28:28 > 0:28:31and jumped into his Moonzoom.

0:28:31 > 0:28:35He zoomed through the universe, straight down to Earth.

0:28:35 > 0:28:38The Moonchild looked around.

0:28:39 > 0:28:43"Well, this isn't right. Where's the colour?" he cried.

0:28:43 > 0:28:48It was shadowy and dark. There were rustlings and rumblings.

0:28:49 > 0:28:51"I'm not scared!" he shouted.

0:28:51 > 0:28:53"I'm a wild Moonchild!"

0:28:53 > 0:28:55"Sssshhh."

0:28:57 > 0:29:00"Who's there?" whispered the Moonchild.

0:29:00 > 0:29:04"Me. Eliza," said a little girl.

0:29:04 > 0:29:07"Why's it so dark?" cried the Moonchild.

0:29:07 > 0:29:09"Where are the colours?"

0:29:09 > 0:29:11"Sshhh," said Eliza.

0:29:11 > 0:29:16"Everyone's sleeping. There will be colours, just wait till morning."

0:29:16 > 0:29:22So the Moonchild and the little girl waited until morning.

0:29:22 > 0:29:27As the yellow sun rose, the Moonchild looked around.

0:29:27 > 0:29:31"Oh!" gasped the Moonchild.

0:29:31 > 0:29:34"I want one of those."

0:29:34 > 0:29:36"Just a minute," said Eliza.

0:29:36 > 0:29:38"We can paint one of those."

0:29:38 > 0:29:41She dipped her brush in some yellow paint

0:29:41 > 0:29:44and painted a yellow, glowing sun.

0:29:44 > 0:29:47"Do you like that?" asked Eliza.

0:29:48 > 0:29:51"I love that," said the Moonchild.

0:29:51 > 0:29:54As the yellow sun rose and the sky turned blue,

0:29:54 > 0:29:57the Moonchild looked around.

0:29:58 > 0:30:01"I like that," said the Moonchild. "Can I have that?"

0:30:01 > 0:30:04"Oh, lots of that," said Eliza,

0:30:04 > 0:30:09as she dipped her brush in the blue paint and painted a big blue sky.

0:30:09 > 0:30:12"What do you think?" asked Eliza.

0:30:12 > 0:30:13"Do you like that?"

0:30:13 > 0:30:16"I love that!" said the Moonchild.

0:30:17 > 0:30:21As the yellow sun rose and the sky turned blue,

0:30:21 > 0:30:23the Moonchild looked around.

0:30:23 > 0:30:26"Wow! We need some of those!"

0:30:26 > 0:30:29"I'll put them just here," said Eliza.

0:30:29 > 0:30:32She dipped her brush in the red paint

0:30:32 > 0:30:36and painted some beautiful, red flowers.

0:30:36 > 0:30:38"OK?" she asked.

0:30:39 > 0:30:43"Really good," said the Moonchild.

0:30:43 > 0:30:47As the yellow sun rose and the sky turned blue,

0:30:47 > 0:30:49the Moonchild looked around.

0:30:50 > 0:30:53"I wish I could have one of those," he said.

0:30:53 > 0:30:57"We'll put one in here," said Eliza.

0:30:57 > 0:31:00She dipped her brush in the green paint

0:31:00 > 0:31:03and painted a green, rustling tree.

0:31:03 > 0:31:06"There," she said. "Do you like that?"

0:31:06 > 0:31:10"I love that!" said the Moonchild.

0:31:10 > 0:31:14As the yellow sun rose and the sky turned blue,

0:31:14 > 0:31:17the Moonchild looked around.

0:31:17 > 0:31:20"Look at those!" he cried.

0:31:20 > 0:31:23"Can you paint some of those?"

0:31:23 > 0:31:25"I'll try," said Eliza.

0:31:25 > 0:31:29She dipped her brush in the purple paint

0:31:29 > 0:31:34and painted five fluttering butterflies in the tree.

0:31:34 > 0:31:37"You like them?" asked Eliza.

0:31:38 > 0:31:42"I love them," said the Moonchild.

0:31:42 > 0:31:46As the yellow sun rose and the sky turned blue,

0:31:46 > 0:31:49suddenly the wind blew and Eliza shivered.

0:31:49 > 0:31:51She ran to get her dressing gown.

0:31:53 > 0:31:57"I wish I could have you in the picture," said the Moonchild.

0:31:57 > 0:32:01Eliza smiled as she dipped her brush in the orange paint

0:32:01 > 0:32:03and painted a little girl

0:32:03 > 0:32:05sitting by the green, rustling tree.

0:32:06 > 0:32:10"Is that OK? Do you like me?" asked the little girl.

0:32:12 > 0:32:15"I love you," said the Moonchild.

0:32:15 > 0:32:18"Eliza!" called the little girl's mother.

0:32:18 > 0:32:20"Come and have your breakfast."

0:32:20 > 0:32:23"I've got to go," said the little girl.

0:32:23 > 0:32:27"But I've got a present for you." She gave the Moonchild her paintbox.

0:32:27 > 0:32:31"Goodbye," she said. "Come back soon."

0:32:31 > 0:32:34"I will," said the Moonchild. "Goodbye."

0:32:34 > 0:32:39That night, as the moon shone and the sky grew dark

0:32:39 > 0:32:42and Eliza's mother turned on more lights,

0:32:42 > 0:32:44Eliza gazed out at the sky.

0:32:45 > 0:32:50"Today, I met a wild Moonchild," she whispered.

0:32:50 > 0:32:54"I wonder what he's doing now."

0:32:54 > 0:32:56In his bright, white room,

0:32:56 > 0:33:00the Moonchild and his mother were looking at the picture.

0:33:00 > 0:33:03"It's lovely," said Mrs Moon.

0:33:03 > 0:33:08"We can do more," said the Moonchild. He showed her the paints.

0:33:08 > 0:33:11"Let's do lots!" said Mrs Moon.

0:33:11 > 0:33:14"Let's cover the walls."

0:33:14 > 0:33:17All night long, as the moon shone,

0:33:17 > 0:33:22Mrs Moon and the Moonchild painted dazzling pictures.

0:33:22 > 0:33:26"You see?" said the Moonchild. "All these colours are on Earth."

0:33:26 > 0:33:29"It's amazing!" said Mrs Moon.

0:33:29 > 0:33:32"I had no idea."

0:33:32 > 0:33:35"You can come next time," said the Moonchild.

0:33:35 > 0:33:39"I'd love to," said Mrs Moon.

0:33:41 > 0:33:46And that story was called Eliza And The Moonchild.

0:33:46 > 0:33:49And Mrs Moon has turned on the lights,

0:33:49 > 0:33:53which means the moon is shining in the sky now.

0:33:53 > 0:33:56And so it's time for you to go to bed.
