0:00:07 > 0:00:08Sky.
0:00:08 > 0:00:11I know there are clouds in the sky,
0:00:11 > 0:00:14but we want to know how high the sky is.
0:00:14 > 0:00:16Oh, hello. I'm David.
0:00:16 > 0:00:18Can you see the sky?
0:00:18 > 0:00:20What colour is it?
0:00:20 > 0:00:26The penguins and I have been looking to find out more about the sky.
0:00:26 > 0:00:29We know it can be blue. Or white or grey.
0:00:29 > 0:00:31Or black, when it's time to go to bed.
0:00:31 > 0:00:37And you can see clouds and stars, but I can't find out how high it is.
0:00:37 > 0:00:38Do you know?
0:00:38 > 0:00:42Pipkin, in tonight's story wants to know, too.
0:00:42 > 0:00:46This story is by Anna Milbourne and Serena Riglietti.
0:00:46 > 0:00:49And it's called, How High Is The Sky?
0:00:49 > 0:00:52Pipkin was a very small penguin,
0:00:52 > 0:00:56he was always asking very big questions.
0:00:56 > 0:00:58"Why are snowflakes cold?
0:00:58 > 0:00:59"How deep is the sea?
0:00:59 > 0:01:02"Does the sun go to bed at night?"
0:01:02 > 0:01:05But the thing he wanted to know most of all was -
0:01:05 > 0:01:09how high is the sky?
0:01:09 > 0:01:12"Why don't you fly up and see for yourself?"
0:01:12 > 0:01:14squawked a wandering albatross.
0:01:14 > 0:01:18"I'm a penguin," said Pipkin. "Penguins can't fly!"
0:01:18 > 0:01:20"Oh, dear," said the albatross.
0:01:20 > 0:01:23"Well, I'll take you, if you like?"
0:01:23 > 0:01:26"Yes, please," said Pipkin.
0:01:26 > 0:01:30They flew up past a flock of birds and up into the blue,
0:01:30 > 0:01:33but the sky was much too high to touch.
0:01:33 > 0:01:35"Flying is fun," said Pipkin.
0:01:35 > 0:01:40"But I still don't know the answer, how high is the sky?"
0:01:40 > 0:01:42"I don't know!" panted the albatross.
0:01:42 > 0:01:45"This is as high as I can go."
0:01:45 > 0:01:49"I can go higher!" called a passing hot air balloonist.
0:01:49 > 0:01:51"I'll take you, if you like?"
0:01:51 > 0:01:53"Yes, please!" said Pipkin.
0:01:53 > 0:01:56They floated past some fluffy clouds.
0:01:56 > 0:02:00Pipkin tried to catch one, but his lasso went through.
0:02:00 > 0:02:02The ground was very far away,
0:02:02 > 0:02:05but the sky didn't look any closer.
0:02:05 > 0:02:08"Ballooning is wonderful," said Pipkin.
0:02:08 > 0:02:12"But I still don't know the answer, how high is the sky?"
0:02:12 > 0:02:15"I don't know," the balloonist shrugged.
0:02:15 > 0:02:17"This is as high as I can go."
0:02:17 > 0:02:22"I can go higher," said a passing astronaut. "I'll take you."
0:02:22 > 0:02:25"Yes, please!" said Pipkin.
0:02:25 > 0:02:27They flew up and up.
0:02:27 > 0:02:29And up and up.
0:02:29 > 0:02:33To where the blue turned into deep, black space.
0:02:33 > 0:02:35And silver stars shone all around.
0:02:35 > 0:02:39They flew on until they reached the moon.
0:02:39 > 0:02:44They landed the rocket, moon-walked around and looked up at the stars.
0:02:44 > 0:02:47"The stars are in the sky too," said Pipkin.
0:02:47 > 0:02:50"They're further than the moon!"
0:02:50 > 0:02:54"I still don't know the answer, how high is the sky?"
0:02:54 > 0:02:59"I don't know," said the astronaut. "This is as high as I can go."
0:02:59 > 0:03:03Pipkin was already so high, he couldn't see his mama
0:03:03 > 0:03:06and his igloo and he couldn't see the South Pole.
0:03:06 > 0:03:09He was ever so far away.
0:03:09 > 0:03:12"Perhaps it's time to go home," said Pipkin.
0:03:12 > 0:03:14So they did just that.
0:03:14 > 0:03:18Pipkin said to his mama, "I flew up past the birds
0:03:18 > 0:03:21"and up past the clouds and up past the blueness
0:03:21 > 0:03:26"and all the way to the moon! But the sky just kept on going.
0:03:26 > 0:03:29"I think I know the answer now," said Pipkin.
0:03:29 > 0:03:32"The sky goes on forever."
0:03:32 > 0:03:34Pipkin's mama tucked him into bed.
0:03:34 > 0:03:39"So that means there's plenty more to explore another day," she said.
0:03:39 > 0:03:43"Sweet dreams, my little Pip."
0:03:43 > 0:03:48And that story was called, How High Is The Sky?
0:03:48 > 0:03:53So, that's the answer - the sky goes on and on and on.
0:03:53 > 0:03:57Well, just like Pipkin, it's time for you to go to bed now.
0:03:57 > 0:03:59And have sweet dreams.
0:03:59 > 0:04:03I'll see you soon for another story. Night, night.
0:04:03 > 0:04:07No. No, I know. I know you're penguins and you can't fly,
0:04:07 > 0:04:11but maybe you can go on an adventure like Pipkin tomorrow. Hmm?
