0:36:43 > 0:36:47And this is Fluffy, and...
0:36:47 > 0:36:50I can't remember this one's name.
0:36:50 > 0:36:54I wonder how Mrs McTats in tonight's bedtime story
0:36:54 > 0:36:56remembers the names of her cats.
0:36:56 > 0:36:58You see, she has lots and lots of cats
0:36:58 > 0:37:01and they ALL live in her house.
0:37:01 > 0:37:06The story is called Mrs McTats And Her Houseful Of Cats.
0:37:07 > 0:37:12In a small cosy cottage lives Mrs McTats.
0:37:12 > 0:37:17She lived all alone except for one cat.
0:37:17 > 0:37:21Every morning, she left as the clock struck eight.
0:37:21 > 0:37:24"To market, to market. I mustn't be late!"
0:37:24 > 0:37:27She browsed through the market and chose a plump fish.
0:37:27 > 0:37:31"For Abner and me, what a sumptuous dish."
0:37:31 > 0:37:36But when she got home there came a scratch on the door,
0:37:36 > 0:37:38and in walked two cats.
0:37:38 > 0:37:41- Meow!- Was there room for two more?
0:37:41 > 0:37:46"Come in, my sweet dears," said Mrs McTats.
0:37:46 > 0:37:50"I'm sure I've got room for just two more cats.
0:37:50 > 0:37:52"I'll call you Basil.
0:37:52 > 0:37:54"And Curly, you'll be.
0:37:54 > 0:37:58"I only had one cat, but now I have three."
0:37:58 > 0:38:01The very next morning, Mrs McTats woke early.
0:38:01 > 0:38:06She stopped to pet Abner and Basil and Curly.
0:38:06 > 0:38:09"To market, to market. I mustn't be late!
0:38:09 > 0:38:13"This chicken, I think, will surely taste great."
0:38:13 > 0:38:17But when she got home, there came a scratch on the door
0:38:17 > 0:38:23- and in walked three cats.- Meow! - Was there room for three more?
0:38:22 > 0:38:26"Come in, my sweet dears," said Mrs McTats.
0:38:26 > 0:38:29"I think I've got room for three more cats.
0:38:29 > 0:38:34"Now give me a moment. What shall your names be...?"
0:38:34 > 0:38:36"You're Dolly. You're Ernest.
0:38:36 > 0:38:38"And Fuzzy, makes three."
0:38:38 > 0:38:42The very next morning, off went Mrs McTats.
0:38:42 > 0:38:47"What can I buy for six hungry cats? I've got it!" she said.
0:38:47 > 0:38:49"I'll make a nice stew."
0:38:49 > 0:38:52So she carried home beef and liver to brew.
0:38:52 > 0:38:56But back at home, there came a scratch at the door
0:38:56 > 0:39:01- and in walked four cats.- Meow! - Was there room for four more?
0:39:01 > 0:39:04"Come in, my sweet dears," said Mrs McTats
0:39:04 > 0:39:08"I know there's a place for just four more cats.
0:39:08 > 0:39:11"Ten's a fine number. Ten cats and me.
0:39:11 > 0:39:15"I'll call you Goldie. And Herman, you'll be."
0:39:15 > 0:39:19Izzy and Jezebel pranced across the floor.
0:39:19 > 0:39:24- And then right behind them followed five more.- Meow!
0:39:24 > 0:39:29"Koko and Linus. Millie. Noreen. And you shall be Oscar.
0:39:29 > 0:39:32"There, that makes 15!"
0:39:32 > 0:39:37The very next day, off went Mrs McTats.
0:39:37 > 0:39:41"What can I possibly feed 15 cats?"
0:39:41 > 0:39:46She chose a fresh tuna. She chose a fine trout.
0:39:46 > 0:39:49But when she came home, her cats were all out.
0:39:49 > 0:39:53She counted her cats, from 1 to 15.
0:39:53 > 0:39:58- But somehow six more cats had just joined the scene.- Meow!
0:39:58 > 0:40:01"Come, come, my sweet dears," said Mrs McTats.
0:40:01 > 0:40:05"I'm sure I have plenty for 21 cats.
0:40:05 > 0:40:08"Pip. Quip. And Rosebud.
0:40:08 > 0:40:13"Sally. And Tosy. Ursula dear, do make yourself cosy."
0:40:13 > 0:40:16But then came another scratch on the door.
0:40:16 > 0:40:19Could it be more cats? How many more?
0:40:19 > 0:40:22- Meow!- In came Violet.
0:40:21 > 0:40:23In came Winnie.
0:40:23 > 0:40:27And, just behind, a kitten named Xinnie.
0:40:26 > 0:40:29In came Yodel - the last of the bunch.
0:40:29 > 0:40:3225 cats ready for lunch.
0:40:32 > 0:40:35But something was missing.
0:40:35 > 0:40:37What could it be?
0:40:38 > 0:40:42Just what it was Mrs McTats could not see.
0:40:42 > 0:40:46As she stood there, puzzling, there was a scratch on the door.
0:40:46 > 0:40:51And Mrs McTats wondered could there really be more?
0:40:50 > 0:40:53Could she squeeze in more cats?
0:40:53 > 0:40:55More than 25?
0:40:55 > 0:40:59Who was the one who was next to arrive?
0:41:00 > 0:41:04"Come in, my sweet dear," said Mrs McTats.
0:41:04 > 0:41:08"I live in this cottage with 25 cats.
0:41:08 > 0:41:11"But if you don't mind, you're welcome to stay.
0:41:11 > 0:41:15"You're welcome to eat, you're welcome to play.
0:41:15 > 0:41:19Now in that small cottage lives Mrs McTats,
0:41:19 > 0:41:22all happy and cosy with her 25 cats...
0:41:22 > 0:41:27and one little puppy who's known as Zoom,
0:41:27 > 0:41:30in a small cosy cottage with plenty of room.
0:41:30 > 0:41:34And just when the clock strikes each morning at eight,
0:41:34 > 0:41:36Mrs McTats hurries off.
0:41:36 > 0:41:40"I mustn't be late! To market, to market, what treats will there be
0:41:40 > 0:41:45"for 26 sweet dears from A to Z?"
0:41:45 > 0:41:50And that story was called Mrs McTats And Her Houseful Of Cats.
0:41:51 > 0:41:55So that's how Mrs McTats remembers all of her cats' names -
0:41:55 > 0:42:00she's given them names starting with the letters of the alphabet.
0:42:00 > 0:42:02And even called her puppy Zoom!
0:42:03 > 0:42:07Maybe I should call my cats with names like that.
0:42:07 > 0:42:12Do you think this cat could be called Algernon?
0:42:12 > 0:42:16I need to think quite hard about their names, and while I do
0:42:16 > 0:42:18it's time for you to go to bed.
0:42:18 > 0:42:22I'll see you soon for another story. Night, night!
