0:38:12 > 0:38:13I'm David.

0:38:13 > 0:38:17Look at all these presents. Wonder who put them there?

0:38:17 > 0:38:19Wonder who they're for?

0:38:19 > 0:38:23Hmm, and I wonder who wrapped them all, that's a thought.

0:38:23 > 0:38:26Who wraps the presents for Father Christmas?

0:38:26 > 0:38:29He surely can't wrap them all by himself, can he?

0:38:29 > 0:38:33Well, there's someone in tonight's bedtime story that we can ask -

0:38:33 > 0:38:35Little Bear.

0:38:35 > 0:38:38The story is by Henrietta and Paul Stickland,

0:38:38 > 0:38:41and is called, The Christmas Bear.

0:38:41 > 0:38:46Little Bear lived at the top of the world.

0:38:46 > 0:38:50One Christmas Eve night, he left his parents in their snuggly den,

0:38:50 > 0:38:52to explore.

0:38:52 > 0:38:54Little Bear followed his nose.

0:38:54 > 0:38:59It led him over the hill, to a big bright hole in the snow.

0:38:59 > 0:39:02"I wonder who lives down there," thought Little Bear.

0:39:02 > 0:39:06He followed his nose further and further into the hole,

0:39:06 > 0:39:11until, all of a sudden, Little Bear fell in.

0:39:11 > 0:39:15Down, down, down he fell...

0:39:15 > 0:39:18until he landed with a bump at the bottom.

0:39:18 > 0:39:22"Little Bear," said a friendly voice.

0:39:22 > 0:39:24"What a tumble!"

0:39:24 > 0:39:27Little Bear peeped between his paws,

0:39:27 > 0:39:29and saw a jolly man smiling down at him.

0:39:31 > 0:39:34"Letters, letters," said Father Christmas,

0:39:34 > 0:39:37as he showed Little Bear the sorting room.

0:39:37 > 0:39:41"So many children, so many presents."

0:39:41 > 0:39:44Little Bear helped sort some letters,

0:39:44 > 0:39:46but there was so much to look at.

0:39:46 > 0:39:50"And where was that penguin going?" he wondered.

0:39:50 > 0:39:53"My workshop," said Father Christmas, proudly,

0:39:53 > 0:39:56as he hurried Little Bear into the next room.

0:39:56 > 0:39:58"We make all the toys here.

0:39:58 > 0:40:03"Teddies, trains, dinosaurs, you name it.

0:40:03 > 0:40:06"I've designed one or two myself,"

0:40:06 > 0:40:09admitted Father Christmas with a chuckle.

0:40:09 > 0:40:12Little Bear wanted to make some toys too,

0:40:12 > 0:40:14but there was so much else to see.

0:40:14 > 0:40:18Next, Father Christmas took Little Bear into a room

0:40:18 > 0:40:19full of noisy machinery.

0:40:19 > 0:40:23"This is the North Pole," he shouted.

0:40:23 > 0:40:27"We use it to make our own electricity. It's quite simple."

0:40:27 > 0:40:32Little bear nodded his head as if he understood, but really, he didn't

0:40:32 > 0:40:34and he was watching the naughty penguin.

0:40:34 > 0:40:38"Here's a lovely job for you," said Father Christmas,

0:40:38 > 0:40:42as they arrived in yet another room, "Testing all the toys."

0:40:42 > 0:40:46Little Bear was so excited, he couldn't think where to start.

0:40:46 > 0:40:48"Testing, testing,"

0:40:48 > 0:40:51said Little Bear as he squeezed a teddy's tummy.

0:40:51 > 0:40:54"Grr," growled the teddy.

0:40:54 > 0:40:56"You'll do," said Little Bear,

0:40:56 > 0:40:58"Now, where's that penguin?"

0:40:58 > 0:41:01Little Bear peeped into a cosy room

0:41:01 > 0:41:04where some elves were putting their feet up.

0:41:04 > 0:41:07"Take a look around," said a sleepy Father Christmas,

0:41:07 > 0:41:11"while I have 40 winks."

0:41:11 > 0:41:14Little Bear followed his nose to the kitchen.

0:41:14 > 0:41:17There was a delicious smell of baking.

0:41:17 > 0:41:19Soon it was time for tea.

0:41:19 > 0:41:25Little Bear sniffed. "Fish and ice-cream. Great!"

0:41:25 > 0:41:29"Back to work again," exclaimed Father Christmas,

0:41:29 > 0:41:32taking Little Bear into the store room.

0:41:32 > 0:41:36Lists had to be checked and toys found for children everywhere.

0:41:36 > 0:41:39It kept Little Bear busy for hours.

0:41:39 > 0:41:45"I wonder if there's a present for me," he thought, shyly.

0:41:45 > 0:41:48"This is the present-wrapping department,"

0:41:48 > 0:41:50Father Christmas informed Little Bear.

0:41:50 > 0:41:54Little Bear had never seen so many presents

0:41:54 > 0:41:56and so much wrapping paper.

0:41:56 > 0:41:59"Not long now," said Father Christmas.

0:41:59 > 0:42:02"Look, there goes a sack of toys down to my sleigh."

0:42:02 > 0:42:06Father Christmas and Little Bear went to the stable.

0:42:06 > 0:42:09"Nearly time to go," said Father Christmas to his reindeer,

0:42:09 > 0:42:13"and more cats to feed, I see."

0:42:13 > 0:42:16"Mice too," said Little Bear.

0:42:16 > 0:42:20"Well, happy Christmas, cats and mice," said Father Christmas.

0:42:20 > 0:42:22"Now, we must be off."

0:42:22 > 0:42:26Father Christmas reached into a pile of presents

0:42:26 > 0:42:28and gave one to Little Bear.

0:42:28 > 0:42:32"This one is for you," he said with a smile,

0:42:32 > 0:42:35"my little Christmas bear."

0:42:35 > 0:42:38"Oh, thank you," cried Little Bear.

0:42:38 > 0:42:43"I, uh, made it myself," said Father Christmas.

0:42:43 > 0:42:47"I think it's rather special. Now, climb in, Little Bear.

0:42:47 > 0:42:50"First stop - the top of the world,"

0:42:50 > 0:42:55and in a wink, they were safely back at Little Bear's home.

0:42:55 > 0:42:59"Open your present, Little Bear," said Father Christmas.

0:42:59 > 0:43:05"It's a book and it's all about me," said Little Bear.

0:43:05 > 0:43:08"Time I was on my way," said Father Christmas,

0:43:08 > 0:43:10"Goodnight, Little Bear,

0:43:10 > 0:43:14"and a very merry Christmas to you all."

0:43:16 > 0:43:19And that story was called The Christmas Bear.

0:43:19 > 0:43:23So THAT'S where Father Christmas gets the presents wrapped -
